Speaker 1 (00:00):
What to do baby iss your boy Tyreek Glenn. Y'all
are tuning into your home for twenty four to seven
news the Black Information Network. Guys, the holidays are officially here.
Merry Christmas, Happy holidays. And the best thing about the
holiday season is we got all these amazing holiday films
coming out, these Christmas movies, all that good stuff. And
we have two amazing individuals in the studio today. We
(00:20):
got Tristan mac Wild's and Candice Maxwell. Appreciate y'all so
much for coming in. How y'all feeling feeling amazing?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Man, good great days so far, and you know, promoting
a Christmas movie, you're naturally gonna have all the fields
all day, all.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
The fields, happiness, a little bit of tears hopefully a
lot of joys, but all the field.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Yeah. I love that. So got this BT plus original
movie the day before Christmas, sir, awesome. So how was
it working on this film?
Speaker 4 (00:47):
A joy?
Speaker 1 (00:48):
One.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
We got to work with children, which was my first
time working with children. I had a daughter in the film,
Ava and then young Finn and Finn.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
Yeah, so just a joy.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Our whole cast crew, everything came together just easy, honestly,
that's yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
That's something that you kind of wish for, especially when
it comes to film, and you know, just to one
the ease of it all, but also just kind of
everybody being on one accord doesn't always happen, but when
it does, you usually get something very magical, which is
what you guys see on the film.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Yeah, that's awesome. So I watched the trailer right and
as soon as it started, I see it look like
a lot of chaos going on, and kind of look
with I believe it was your daughter that was waking up.
It was like, mob, it's time to get ready, you
know what I'm saying. So what like it? It kind
of has the tone for what people are about to
see when the movie comes out, right, So I see it.
It's chaotic. So can y'all tell us, like, why is
(01:40):
it so chaotic? What's happening?
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Okay? Well, I woke up late, my character Nia woke
up late. I'm bringing my daughter to school. And then
we bump into Rashad and his son at drop off
just to come the day before Christmas, just to find
out the bus left.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
They were going on a trip.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
And then an unforeseen circumstance happens to me I won't
tell you what, but Rashad Tristan's character has to step
in and help us along the way, and then it
just spirals.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
It's like everything that could go wrong goes goes wrong.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
So it's like one turn after the another downward spiral.
But then we like come together and help each other
and that's the whole point of the film.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
That's pretty cool. So so, so wait, because you mentioned
something so which I know, like at least here I
know the kids get like two weeks, but the kids
were going to school on Christmas Eve.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
No, no, no, not school. Yeah, I think they just
had a it.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Was a program at church. Yeah, okay, I sayol drop off.
But they were catching a bus from church.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Exactly.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Cool.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
That's that's what's up. So, So, what I do like
about this movie, I like is it kind of shows
you a little bit of the single parents struggle a
little bit does what and what sub single parents actually
have to go through, especially when it comes to just
like not even the holidays, but just regular a regular day.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
So yeah, so so how are you guys navigating those issues? Uh?
Speaker 2 (03:05):
You know, I think what we show in the movie
is that essentially it takes a village, whether you whether
you you're a single parent or not. You know, I
think we all kind of need at times, we need
helping hands or things will spiral out of control as
they as you guys see. Uh So it's it's a
it's kind of a call to everyone who has a
(03:27):
village or anyone who has somebody who can help them out. Man.
It's a it's a beautiful, beautiful opportunity for people to watch,
to enjoy and then see what they go through as well.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
I was raised by a single mom, so I understood
my character firsthand and just almost having to grow up
a little faster and kind of be my mom's little
right hand. So it was fun doing that while I'm
with the young actress that I was working with ava
because I was like, oh wow, this is familiar.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Yeah. So so how did y'all get selected for the roles?
You know, agent puts you up forward audition. How did
that go?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
I think just just really good casting shout out to
our casting director. Yeah, yeah, really really good casting director.
I think just having producers who actually trust what you
do and a network that is willing to show beautiful
black people. So that was pretty much it nice.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
It's always going to have good black Christmas. Talk about it,
talk about it, Yeah, for sure. Do y'all have a
favorite Christmas movie that you'll particularly like to watch during
the holidays every year?
Speaker 2 (04:32):
And let me see, I'm an I'll switch it up.
I'll switch it, I'll switch minds up. You know.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
This Christmas?
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Yeah, this Christmas. It was a good one.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
It was a great one actually, in the music and
the spectacle. It's always gonna for me. It's always always
always going to be home alone too.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, my man Kevin mccowister and the Pigeon Lady.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah, yeah, that's very that's pretty cool. So what excites
y'all the most about this time of year?
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Food, that's good, that's fift the gifts to Yeah, Jesus Birthday.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
It's Jesus' birthday.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
I think you know a lot of us. I could
speak a little bit to her because she is constantly working,
but so but all of us were working so often
that a lot of times the holidays are our only
time to really just kick it with our family, Like
that's the time to just kind of turn everything off,
really have that real family time. So besides the food
(05:34):
and the beautiful gifts. No, it's that it's that time.
It's the time to recharge, the time necessary to be
with the family.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Yeah, I love that the fan. I love the family time,
the family dynamic we all get to experience during during
this time and stuff is so it's so magical. It's
so special, you know, because we all working, putting in
net work, especially when you're working on big time films
and stuff. Y'all just y'all out here doing doing it
and make it, making it happen.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
So cooking, just stay cooking.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Okay, awesome. So when did y'all actually do the filming
for this movie?
Speaker 4 (06:09):
March? Yeah, earlier this year?
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Okay, So I want to ask you all this. So
obviously y'all are filming it in March. Obviously you can't
film it around this time of year because it's coming
out now. So how did y'all get into the holiday
spirit in March?
Speaker 3 (06:22):
This one right here, I'm gonna disappoint at you. Every
morning in the makeup chair playing a Christmas playlist and
I hear Trustan hamming and singing along, and he's like
making playlists. What's your favorite Christmas song? So give it
up for this man right here? For bringing out a
like cheer to set and then you know, the wardrobe
start to feel it.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Yeah, you start to feel it just being on set.
But I think it's necessary depending no matter what role
you do. You know, just to figure out what the
energy is necessary for said scene, said character, and.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Just bring that.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
And and I knew doing a Christmas film, we're gonna
need that cheer that you know that hearing that, Donnie Hathaway,
it's necessary six am.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Yeah, so give us a rundown on like the typical
day on set. What was that like?
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Typical day on set? You know, I guess you come
in hair and makeup, get dressed, you get on set.
You know they say action and cut a few times.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
You're forgetting the coffee. Lots of coffee, Lots.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Of coffee necessary. That's one of the necessary steps in this.
You find your pockets for coffee. But also you know,
finally lunch.
Speaker 4 (07:37):
Et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
I think it's it seems simple as when you say it,
but when you're in the midst of it, it starts
to get a little I need coffee just thinking about.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
It, and a lot of juggling.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Whenever you're on wardrobe, changes your lines, keeping up with
the kids, making sure you eat, making sure you hydrate.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
You know, it's kind of NonStop, but that's why we
do it. We gotta love it though, absolutely, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
That's fantastic. And so when you're so when you guys
are on set, obviously you know everything not gonna be
pges and cream, everything not gonna be perfect. Talk about
some of those blooper moments.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
I had blooper moments. I mean, I think the biggest
bloopers that we probably would have is just kind of like, uh,
flubbed lines or things of that nature. But honestly, working
with people, even even our youngest, our young kids were
super professional. They were on it sometimes even more than us.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
Yeah, they had their lines together more than us.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yeah, it was you fall into a place where you
don't have that many bloopers.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Yeah, okay, I love I love that. That's that's great.
So when it comes to why is it so important?
Because I know they I noticed like obviously it's a
black Christmas movie, it's gonna be on b ET, right,
you know, I feel like that was intentional. So how
you know, talk about the significance of you know, it
being on BET and being a black Christmas movie and
(09:07):
things like that.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Well, the significance, I'd say just one is us having
great family content to watch over the holidays.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
We deserve that too.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
We deserve like a place where you can a movie
where you can sit down with your family, your friends
and not be worried about you know, some f bombs slipping.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Out or something inappropriate.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
You know, like it truly is just a family film,
and it's good to see two black leads who are
like doing great things, both entrepreneurs, both loving on their
children and coming together through like trials and tribulations. I
think it's a positive thing for us to see right.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Now, especially on a network that's based for us. Just
to see something that is made for us by us,
on a network that is for us, I think it's
I think it's necessary nice.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
And so when people go to watch this, because it's
going to come out on Thanksgiving Day, November twenty eighth,
on Thursday, everybody's excited about it, pumped up about it.
What is a takeaway or what do you want the
audience to get out of this when they do go
to watch I just.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Want them to have fun, man, I want them to
have fun. I want them to fall in love. I
want them to go on this journey with us because
it's a journey it is. But ultimately, I just want
them to feel the magic. You know, we had such
a good time making this film. There was magic when
we made the film, and I just want them to
feel it.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
That's good, feel the.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Magic, magic, and just that life has lots of ups
and downs and unexpected moments, but if you hold onto
your faith, then you have hope. Beautiful things can happen.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Preach absolutely, preach, Yeah, gotta have.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
That faith definitely one day one yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Yeah, for sure. So And speaking of faith, I want
to know, I want to know this, right, where do
you guys see yourself in this moment in life? Where
do y'all see God leading.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
You o the Promised Land? No, honestly, you know, I
think that I think we all have dreams and aspirations,
goals that we're trying to accomplish, and I think the
biggest thing is understanding things that you can handle and
understand the things that you need to let go of
(11:18):
so that God can do the work. And whatever your
heart's desire wherever you're trying to go, the things that
you wish to accomplish all of it is possible, especially
through God love that.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
What about you?
Speaker 3 (11:31):
I couldn't agree more that you said, But I truly
do believe God wants the best for all of his children.
He wants us to be happy and live like prosperous,
abundant lives. And that may not look like what you
envision in your head. So a lot of it for
me in this chapter of my life has been doing
the work, showing up, but surrendering to what God has
for me, because life is very unplanned and unexpected, just
(11:54):
like my character in the movie. So just embracing change
and things that are unexpected.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
That, guys, that's that's awesome. So before we close it out,
go ahead and let everybody know. I know you guys
of course, got this film coming out the day before
Christmas on the and C plus November twenty eighth. But
what are some other things y'all got brewing or may
not coming up in the new year or anything?
Speaker 3 (12:15):

played DJ time on that show. So after you put
your kids to bed, after you have your turkeys on
November twenty eighth, you can continue to tune into be

Speaker 4 (12:31):

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Love it.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
Okay, it's gonna be great.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
That's for me.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
There's a lot of stuff that's coming up in the
next year. Music, more film, et cetera, et cetera. But
just stay tuned. We got a lot of we got
a lot of stuff that we can't talk about yet,
but it's coming really really soon.
Speaker 1 (12:49):

about this film. This is exciting. Everybody's going to tune

Speaker 2 (13:15):
You know, we got to, I mean, turn it on
while you watch the space you know, while you're hitting
that space.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Tournament, right, you're right? Repeat necessary. By the way, what
do y'all have going on with holladays y'all, mind share.
Speaker 3 (13:28):

My little sister is gonna cook for my friends. They
don't have to bring anything. We are, we made a menu,
we making place cards. It's gonna be a whole thing.
Like you know, well, she cooks, cooks, she throws down.
I do dishes.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
It's gonna be famulous. So for my girlies, we're gonna
do that. And then family time with just me, my
mom and my sister. Real quiet, low key at home
for Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Love okay for me, a lot of the same, you know,
just kicking with my daughters, my wife. I think my
mom might come out to the crib, But I think
my wife's mom might come out to the crib too,
So them.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Two together is always jokes.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
I fear of God.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
They all they do is talk about how we parent
and what we do and don't do as parents, you know,
back when we were But yeah, it's gonna be a
it's gonna be a good time. Yeah, it's gonna be
a good time.

down favorite Thanksgiving traditions, is we gotta get on this space.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Does the switch up every year?
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Like who's like the time, Doug?
Speaker 1 (15:01):
It's usually me. I mean, we just being you know,
pat myself on the back. Yeah. A lot of trash
talking they're going. But I love it. You got you
gotta love it after that good meal, little turning. Yeah.
