Our lesson today is by James Mills from the Baltimore,
Ohio Church of Christ. His lesson is faith only. One
of the biggest false doctrines in the world today is
all you have to do is believe that Jesus Christ
is the Son of God.

But we know as the Church that we must not
only believe, but we must obey. We must obey the
planet of salvation that God put in place. So James
does a study on the false doctrine which millions and
millions of people are being deceived today in all of

world to where there's a big misconception that one can
believe and be saved and you can't turn on the
radio or watch the TV, or even if you go

into on the job sites, a lot of porta John's
porta potties and there's brochures and those that's telling people
that all you need to do in order to be saved,
it's a believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of
God and then all you need to do is pray

a sinner's prayer or maybe just ask Jesus into your heart.
And it saddens me when I see there's so many
people that are falling for this trap.

We have a lot of older people that.

Fell for this when they were younger, and we have
a lot of children that are being taught that all
you need to do is accept Jesus as your savior
and you're saved, and then they go through life thinking
that they've done the right thing because they were taught
that and it's a big misconception that we have in

our world today. It is people being taught that faith
only will save you. But as we take God's word
today and tewod Timothy two point fifteen tells us to
study to show ourself approved, and then it tells us to.

Rightly divide the word of God.

And we will show today as we study through this sermon,
that those people that are teaching faith only are not
rightly dividing the word of God. But they're picking and
choosing a verse or a scripture that they can use
to tell people that faith only.

Will save their souls.

If you turn over to Galatians chapter three this morning,
and we'll read a verse starting there Galatians chapter three,
let's go down, actually, let's back.

Up to verses twenty five.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
But after that faith has come, we are no longer
under a schoolmaster.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
For ye are.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
All the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

But notice verse twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
For as many of you as have been baptized into
Christ have put on Christ. So the problem with faith
only is it leaves you outside the body of Christ.
As we've just read there in verse twenty seven. Is
baptism puts you into Christ. And it's through baptism that

you put on Christ. So faith only leaves you stranded
outside the body.

So we'll go.

Through this morning and we want to talk about exactly
what God's word teaches us, what we must do in
order to be saved, and will show that it's faith
only that will not get us into heaven. First of all, though,
we want to notice that it does take faith.

We can't get rid of the faith, but we.

Must have that faith in order to be In Hebrews
chapter eleven, verse six, turn with me and read we
see that without faith. Without faith, it is impossible impossible
to please God.

But without faith it is impossible to please him.

For he that cometh to God, notice, must believed that
He is, and that He is what a rewarder of
them that diligently seek him.

So we want to.

Notice that you must have that faith, that faith has
to be there. You must believed that Jesus Christ is
the son of God. Again in Ephesians, turn over to
Ephesians chapter two, reading verses.

Eight and nine.

Foreby grace are ye saved walk through faith, and that
not of yourselves. It is what a gift of God not.
It works, and any man should boast. So we can
see that faith is necessary. Without faith, it's impossible to

please God. So we must have that faith. But only
that faith leaves us outside the body of Christ. We
haven't put Christ on. So what happens is people pick scriptures,
as we talked about at the beginning.

Of the lesson, like John chapter three.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
If you turn over and read John chapter three of
verse sixteen, for God so loved the world that he
gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but what have everlasting life.

So people will pick out a.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Scripture like John three and say, well, see right there,
it tells me that whosoever believes in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.

And then people will say, well, what about over Enromans?
Turn were with me to Romans.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Chapter ten and verse thirteen. For whosoever shall call upon
the name of the Lord shall be saved. So people
pick and choose a scripture of verse and they say, well,
right here, the Bible tells.

Me that all I need to do is call on
God's name and I'll be saved.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Right Well, we got to be careful because we're not
rightly dividing the word of God. We're not taking the
whole Bible, but we're picking and choosing a verse that
fits us, that makes us feel like we're going to
do the right thing. Suppose suppose that if we only
read and luke how that there was going to be

a savior born?

Right?
Speaker 4 (07:49):
How about when they come to marry and said, you're
going to give birth to a son, and his name's
going to be Jesus, and he's going to be a savior.
Suppose we stopped there, right, Suppose we just read about
there's gonna be one born, his name is going to
be Jesus, and he's going to be a savior.

Would that do us any good? Would that help you
and me?
Speaker 4 (08:12):
You'll probably wondering, all right, all right, but how do
I get saved?
Speaker 1 (08:18):
That's fine? So what happy this?
Speaker 4 (08:19):
People will pick a verse out and they'll say, well,
right here, this verse says, so.

They don't want to take the whole word of God.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
So if we stop and we pick and choose a
verse and not rightly divide it, we'll find out that
we're being misled. It's a misconception that the world believes
in today. So turn over to Hebrews chapter eleven. We're
gonna start there, and we're going to talk about several people,

several people that we read about that the faith had
to be there, but it was only there as a
way of them to do something, to do something. So
turn over to Hebrews chapter eleven, and we'll start there
with verse one. Now faith, Notice that's belief is the

substance of things hoped for.

The evidence of things not seen. For by it, the
elders obtained a good report.

Through faith, we understand that the world were framed by
the word of God, so that things which are seen
were not made of things which do appear.

Now, I notice verse.

Four, by faith, a will offer unto God a more
excellent sacrifice than came by which he obtained witness that
he was righteous God, testifying of his gifts, and by
it he being dead.

By faith edict was translated that he should not see
death and was not found because God had translated him.
For before his translation he had this testimony that he
pleased God. But without faith. Notice, it is impossible to
please him. For he that cometh to God must believe

of them that diligently seek him Verse seven.

So many as the stars of the sky in multitude,

These all died while in.

Faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them
afar off and were persuaded of them and embraced them
and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
So we see in reading Hebrews in Livin that the
faith had had to be there. But suppose Noah only

had that faith that he set there?

Oh yeah, I believe.

I believe that I can be saved if I do
what God commanded. So if he just sat there and
believed that this ark would save him and he didn't
build the ark, would he had been saved?

I don't think so. I know he wouldn't have. What
if Abraham and that faith that he had, Oh yeah,
I believe that there's a land of promise.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
But I'm just gonna sit here and I'm gonna believe
that that land exists.

I know that there's a land of promise. I believe
it with all my heart. Was he gonna get there?
Was he gonna get there?
Speaker 4 (12:51):
No Moses through faith he believed? Did he just sit
there and know he'd led the children of Israel. So
it was the faith in believing that led them want
to do something about it. Do something about it. We'll
find now in the teaching of the New Testament that
(13:13):
it was more than faith that was going to save people.

Beginning with Jesus, turn over to John chapter three.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
John chapter three will start there with Jesus. Jesus was
asked a question by Nicodemus, what must I do? Verse one,
chapter three of John. There was a man of Pharisees
named Nicodemus, ruler of the Jews.

The same came to Jesus.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
Notice the same came to Jesus by night, sitting in rabbi.
All we know that thou art a teacher come from God.
For no man can do these miracles that thou doest,
except God be with him. Jesus answered and said it
to him verly, verily, noticed, I said to thee. Noticed,
(14:10):
except a man what be born again? He cannot see
the Kingdom of God. And Hecademus says to do him.
How can a man be born when he is old?
Can he enter the second time? In the mother's woman
be born? Jesus answered verly, verly, I said to thee,
(14:32):
accept a man.

Be born of water.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Of the spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.

It begins with Jesus. Now did Jesus tell Nicodemus.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
All you've got to do is believe Nicodemus, have faith,
and you'll be saved. All you've got to do is
believe it me, and you'll have eternal life. Jesus told Nicodemus,
you've got to be born again, Nicodemus, born again takes
(15:12):
more than just believing in me. You've got to do something.
He said, You've got to be born again. Nicodemus said,
how He said, born of what? Water and spirit? Water
and spirit. Now we'll talk the next few minutes about
what that means, being born of water and born of
(15:34):
the spirit. Paul talked about this in Titus. If you
turn over to Titus chapter three, and we'll see the
exact same thing that Jesus was telling Nicodemus about. Paul
spoke of this same thing in Titus chapter three, verse
(15:57):
four and five. But after that, the kindness love of God,
our Savior toward man appeared. Notice not by works of righteousness,
which we have done, but according to his mercy.

He saved us.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Why by the washing of regeneration and the renewing what
all the holy ghosts, that same water, that same holy
spirit that Jesus told Nicodemus about is the same thing.

Now here's an argument that the world has today. It's
all right, well, I see that I've got to be
born again. Great, But what about the thief on the cross?
What about the thief on the cross?

When Jesus hung and died on the cross.

If you remember, there were two other thieves, one on
the right, one on the left that hang there with him, right,
and what happens The one was making fun along with
the others of Jesus, laughing, thought it was funny. Yeah,
you claim to be you claim to be a savior,

who claim to.

Be a king?
Speaker 4 (17:16):
Will save us. We're hanging up here, we're dying, we're
being crucified.

What happened? The other thief said, hold it a pendant?
Do you realize? Do you realize who you're laughing and
making fun of?

And he you know what he told Jesus, He said,
remember me, remember me when you come into your kingdom.

Right, So what did that do? That showed faith?

Right, He showed that he believed that Jesus Christ was
the son of God. He had that faith, he believed.
What did Jesus tell him he said today you will.

Be with me in paradise.

So everyone's argument is, well, Jesus saved the thief on
the cross only because he believed, only because he believed.

Now, Sister June and I were talking about this maybe

People are ignorant of God's word and they're not rightly
dividing it because they don't understand.

The cross, they were still under the old Mosaic law,

When you read and you study, while Christ was wronging

But when we rightly divide God's word, turnover to Hebrews.
Turnover to Hebrews, Hebrews chapter eight, Hebrews chapter.

and seven.

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry.

By how much?

Also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which
was established upon better promises. So if that first covenant
had been faultless, then should no place have been sought
for the second, a second covenant. If the first covenant

had been perfect, then there would have been no reason
for Christ to come and die on the cross.

Now going down to verse.

Twelve and thirteen, for I will be merciful to their unrighteousness,
and their sins, and their iniquities.

Notice a new covenant, a new covenant he has made
the first old Now that rich decayeth and waxeth, old
is ready want to vanish away The old law was
done away with when Christ hung and he died on

Remember he said it is finished. It is finished.

He's gave us some more perfect covenant. Turn on over
to Hebrews chapter nine, beginning with verse sixteen. For where
a testimon is, there must also, of necessity be the
death of the testator. That tells us that Christ had

to die in order for this new covenant, this new
Testament to take place.

For a testament is of force after men are dead.

Otherwise it is of no strength at all while the
testator liveth Whereupon neither the first Testament was dedicated without blood.
It's the same as having a wheel today. If someone
has a will, their last wishes. It's there on paper, right,

it's there on paper. But until that person dies, everything
that's on that.

Paper means nothing, means nothing. But after that person dies,
what happens.

That wheel is opened up, right, that wheels open up,
and everything that's written in that will.

Died on the cross, that old Testament, that old mosaical
law had to be done away with, because He's got

it for us to follow. We must follow what the
Testator left for us to follow. Whereupon, neither the First
Testament was dedicated without blood verse nineteen. For when Moses

had spoken every precinct to all the people according to
the law, he took the blood of chasm of goats
with water and scarlet war and hiss and sprinkled both
the book and all the people, saying, this is the
blood of the Testament, which God has enjoyed unto you.
Wherever he sprinkled with blood, both the tabernacle and all

the vessels of the ministry, and almost all things are
by the law. Purge with blood and without the shedding
of blood is no remission. Christ had to suffer, He
had to die on the cross to fulfilled. And now
(23:22):
what we've got a new covenant, a new covenant. Now, suppose,
just as we talked about at the beginning, suppose we
just pulled that scripture out, right, If we just pulled
out the scripture that tells us that there was gonna
be a son born and his name is gonna be Jesus,
and he was gonna be our savior, and we stopped there,

what good does that do us?

Right? Great, we've got a savior.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
But then we rightly divide and we go on over
and we study what you me neither, it's gonna be
somebody die for my sins.

Person that was born gonna be our savior. Is that
same person that's gonna die for my sins?

Right, die for my sins.

Now, suppose we stopped there, Does that do us any good?

Or great? We gotta save You're.

Born and he died for my sins and was crucified
on the cross. But what good does that do? So
you're telling me, as long as I believe that.

That I'm gonna be saved. I'm gonna be saved.

Maybe we should talk about he was resurrected. Right, let's
read on further. Let's not stop there. Let's rightly divide
the word of God and what happened after he was resurrected.
What happened after the resurrection. Maybe the answer to what
I've got to do to be saved we will be

found there.

Turn over to.

Mark Mark chapter sixteen. We go back to after Jesus
had died, after he was buried, and after he rose again.
After he rose, what happens Mark chapter sixteen. We'll see
that the apostles are setting around verse fourteen. Afterward he

appeared until the eleven as they sat at me and
upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart. So
what's happening the apostles? They're an unbelief. They don't believe it.

They've heard that Jesus has rose from the dead. They
don't believe this, no, no way. Jesus appears under them
as they.

Sit there in their unbelief, their hardness of their heart,
because they believe, not them which.

Notice verse fifteen, what does Jesus say, he said, and
too them. Notice, go ye into all the world and
preach the Gospel to every creature. Now Jesus has instructions.
We've got a new covenant. And Jesus appears to the

twelve and he says, listen, listen, go into the world
to preach the gospel of every creature. He that believeth
Verse sixteen, He that believeth shall be saved.

I'm sure your Bible doesn't read that way, right He
that believeth and calls on My name will be saved.
He that believe in that praise really hard.

I'll say those people, No, Jesus said, he that BELIEVETH
and is baptised shall be saved.

But he that believeth not shall be dead. It doesn't
get any simpler than that, Bros and sisters.

But yet we have a world full of people that
are trying to convince people that they can be saved
by only believing or praying a prayer, falling down on
their knees, asking Jesus into their heart, picking and choosing
a scripture, causing people to.

Lose their soul because they don't want.

To open up their Bible and rightly divide the word
of God, and it didn't stop there After Jesus commanded
of them what to do? What do you think they did?
Do you think they listened? Or do you think, Oh,
that's too hard. That's too hard. Lord, that's too hard.

Will never convince people to obey the gospel, to believe
that you are the son of God, and to be
baptized to wash away their sins.

We'll never be able to do that.

No, they done exactly what Jesus commanded them to do,
and Acts chapter two. Acts Chapter two on the Dead Pentecost,
after Jesus had appeared under them, after Jesus had told
them what they needed to do, Peter did exactly that.

On the day of Pentecost, he preached into those people, Jesus,
they've become prickting their heart Verse thirty seven of Acts
chapter two. Now when they heard this, they were pre
in their heart and said into Peter and to the
rest of the apostles, men and brethren.

What shall we do.

Peter said it to them, repent and be baptized, every
one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for
the remission of sin, and ye shall receive the gift
of the Holy Ghost, and this promise verse thirty nine.
This promises unto you, to your children, to all that
are far off, even as many as the Lord our

God shall call.

and we'll read a verse starting there Galatians chapter three,
let's go down, actually, let's back.

But after that faith has come, we are no longer
under a schoolmaster.

For ye are.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
All the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

But notice verse twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
For as many of you as have been baptized into
Christ have put on Christ. So the problem with faith
only is it leaves you outside the body of Christ.
As we've just read there in verse twenty seven. Is
baptism puts you into Christ. And it's through baptism that
(04:22):
you put on Christ. So faith only leaves you stranded
outside the body.

So we'll go.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Through this morning and we want to talk about exactly
what God's word teaches us, what we must do in
order to be saved, and will show that it's faith
only that will not get us into heaven. First of all, though,
we want to notice that it does take faith.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
We can't get rid of the faith, but we.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Must have that faith in order to be In Hebrews
chapter eleven, verse six, turn with me and read we
see that without faith. Without faith, it is impossible impossible
to please God.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
But without faith it is impossible to please him.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
For he that cometh to God, notice, must believed that
He is, and that He is what a rewarder of
them that diligently seek him.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
So we want to.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Notice that you must have that faith, that faith has
to be there. You must believed that Jesus Christ is
the son of God. Again in Ephesians, turn over to
Ephesians chapter two, reading verses.

Eight and nine.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Foreby grace are ye saved walk through faith, and that
not of yourselves. It is what a gift of God not.
It works, and any man should boast. So we can
see that faith is necessary. Without faith, it's impossible to
(06:09):
please God. So we must have that faith. But only
that faith leaves us outside the body of Christ. We
haven't put Christ on. So what happens is people pick scriptures,
as we talked about at the beginning.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Of the lesson, like John chapter three.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
If you turn over and read John chapter three of
verse sixteen, for God so loved the world that he
gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but what have everlasting life.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
So people will pick out a.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Scripture like John three and say, well, see right there,
it tells me that whosoever believes in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
And then people will say, well, what about over Enromans?
Turn were with me to Romans.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Chapter ten and verse thirteen. For whosoever shall call upon
the name of the Lord shall be saved. So people
pick and choose a scripture of verse and they say, well,
right here, the Bible tells.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Me that all I need to do is call on
God's name and I'll be saved.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Right Well, we got to be careful because we're not
rightly dividing the word of God. We're not taking the
whole Bible, but we're picking and choosing a verse that
fits us, that makes us feel like we're going to
do the right thing. Suppose suppose that if we only
read and luke how that there was going to be
(07:46):
a savior born?
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Right?
Speaker 4 (07:49):
How about when they come to marry and said, you're
going to give birth to a son, and his name's
going to be Jesus, and he's going to be a savior.
Suppose we stopped there, right, Suppose we just read about
there's gonna be one born, his name is going to
be Jesus, and he's going to be a savior.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Would that do us any good? Would that help you
and me?
Speaker 4 (08:12):
You'll probably wondering, all right, all right, but how do
I get saved?
Speaker 1 (08:18):
That's fine? So what happy this?
Speaker 4 (08:19):
People will pick a verse out and they'll say, well,
right here, this verse says, so.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
They don't want to take the whole word of God.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
So if we stop and we pick and choose a
verse and not rightly divide it, we'll find out that
we're being misled. It's a misconception that the world believes
in today. So turn over to Hebrews chapter eleven. We're
gonna start there, and we're going to talk about several people,
(08:50):
several people that we read about that the faith had
to be there, but it was only there as a
way of them to do something, to do something. So
turn over to Hebrews chapter eleven, and we'll start there
with verse one. Now faith, Notice that's belief is the
(09:13):
substance of things hoped for.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
The evidence of things not seen. For by it, the
elders obtained a good report.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Through faith, we understand that the world were framed by
the word of God, so that things which are seen
were not made of things which do appear.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Now, I notice verse.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Four, by faith, a will offer unto God a more
excellent sacrifice than came by which he obtained witness that
he was righteous God, testifying of his gifts, and by
it he being dead.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Yet speaketh verse fact.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
By faith edict was translated that he should not see
death and was not found because God had translated him.
For before his translation he had this testimony that he
pleased God. But without faith. Notice, it is impossible to
please him. For he that cometh to God must believe
(10:16):
that he is or that he is a re ordered
of them that diligently seek him Verse seven.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
By faith, Noah, being.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
Warned of God things not seen as yet, moved with fear,
prepared an art to the saving of his house, by
the which he condemned the world and became heir of
the righteous, which is what by faith by faith, ver
say Abraham, when he was called to go out to

a place which he should have to receive of an inherence, obeyed,
and he went out, not knowing whether he went.

By faith.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
He sojourned into the land of promise, as in a
strange country, dwelling in tabernacles, with Isaac and Jacob that
aired with him of the same promise.

For he looked for a city which.

Has foundations, whose buildroom maker is God through faith Verse eleven.
Also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed, was delivered
of a child when she was past age, because she
judged him faithful, who had promised.

Therefore sprang there even of one and him as good
as dead.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
So many as the stars of the sky in multitude,
and as the sand which is by the seashore innumerable.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
These all died while in.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them
afar off and were persuaded of them and embraced them
and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
So we see in reading Hebrews in Livin that the
faith had had to be there. But suppose Noah only
(12:05):
had that faith that he set there?
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Oh yeah, I believe.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
I believe that I can be saved if I do
what God commanded. So if he just sat there and
believed that this ark would save him and he didn't
build the ark, would he had been saved?
Speaker 1 (12:25):
I don't think so. I know he wouldn't have. What
if Abraham and that faith that he had, Oh yeah,
I believe that there's a land of promise.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
But I'm just gonna sit here and I'm gonna believe
that that land exists.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
I know that there's a land of promise. I believe
it with all my heart. Was he gonna get there?
Was he gonna get there?
Speaker 4 (12:51):
No Moses through faith he believed? Did he just sit
there and know he'd led the children of Israel. So
it was the faith in believing that led them want
to do something about it. Do something about it. We'll
find now in the teaching of the New Testament that
(13:13):
it was more than faith that was going to save people.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Beginning with Jesus, turn over to John chapter three.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
John chapter three will start there with Jesus. Jesus was
asked a question by Nicodemus, what must I do? Verse one,
chapter three of John. There was a man of Pharisees
named Nicodemus, ruler of the Jews.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
The same came to Jesus.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
Notice the same came to Jesus by night, sitting in rabbi.
All we know that thou art a teacher come from God.
For no man can do these miracles that thou doest,
except God be with him. Jesus answered and said it
to him verly, verily, noticed, I said to thee. Noticed,
(14:10):
except a man what be born again? He cannot see
the Kingdom of God. And Hecademus says to do him.
How can a man be born when he is old?
Can he enter the second time? In the mother's woman
be born? Jesus answered verly, verly, I said to thee,
(14:32):
accept a man.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Be born of water.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Of the spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
It begins with Jesus. Now did Jesus tell Nicodemus.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
All you've got to do is believe Nicodemus, have faith,
and you'll be saved. All you've got to do is
believe it me, and you'll have eternal life. Jesus told Nicodemus,
you've got to be born again, Nicodemus, born again takes
(15:12):
more than just believing in me. You've got to do something.
He said, You've got to be born again. Nicodemus said,
how He said, born of what? Water and spirit? Water
and spirit. Now we'll talk the next few minutes about
what that means, being born of water and born of
(15:34):
the spirit. Paul talked about this in Titus. If you
turn over to Titus chapter three, and we'll see the
exact same thing that Jesus was telling Nicodemus about. Paul
spoke of this same thing in Titus chapter three, verse
(15:57):
four and five. But after that, the kindness love of God,
our Savior toward man appeared. Notice not by works of righteousness,
which we have done, but according to his mercy.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
He saved us.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Why by the washing of regeneration and the renewing what
all the holy ghosts, that same water, that same holy
spirit that Jesus told Nicodemus about is the same thing.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
That Paul speaking about to tit Us.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Now here's an argument that the world has today. It's
all right, well, I see that I've got to be
born again. Great, But what about the thief on the cross?
What about the thief on the cross?
Speaker 1 (16:51):
When Jesus hung and died on the cross.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
If you remember, there were two other thieves, one on
the right, one on the left that hang there with him, right,
and what happens The one was making fun along with
the others of Jesus, laughing, thought it was funny. Yeah,
you claim to be you claim to be a savior,
(17:15):
who claim to.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Be a king?
Speaker 4 (17:16):
Will save us. We're hanging up here, we're dying, we're
being crucified.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
What happened? The other thief said, hold it a pendant?
Do you realize? Do you realize who you're laughing and
making fun of?
Speaker 4 (17:30):
And he you know what he told Jesus, He said,
remember me, remember me when you come into your kingdom.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Right, So what did that do? That showed faith?
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Right, He showed that he believed that Jesus Christ was
the son of God. He had that faith, he believed.
What did Jesus tell him he said today you will.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Be with me in paradise.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
So everyone's argument is, well, Jesus saved the thief on
the cross only because he believed, only because he believed.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Now, Sister June and I were talking about this maybe
last Sunday, maybe last Sunday.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
People are ignorant of God's word and they're not rightly
dividing it because they don't understand.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
That before Christ died on.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
The cross, they were still under the old Mosaic law,
and Christ could save anyone that he wanted.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
How many people?
Speaker 4 (18:36):
When you read and you study, while Christ was wronging
to earth, he told him, your faith has made you whole.
Your faith has saved you because he had the.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Power to do that. He had the power to do that.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
But when we rightly divide God's word, turnover to Hebrews.
Turnover to Hebrews, Hebrews chapter eight, Hebrews chapter.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Eight, and we'll read their verses. Let's go to six
and seven.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
By how much?
Speaker 4 (19:19):
Also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which
was established upon better promises. So if that first covenant
had been faultless, then should no place have been sought
for the second, a second covenant. If the first covenant
(19:43):
had been perfect, then there would have been no reason
for Christ to come and die on the cross.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Now going down to verse.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
Twelve and thirteen, for I will be merciful to their unrighteousness,
and their sins, and their iniquities.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Will I remember no more in that he saith.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Notice a new covenant, a new covenant he has made
the first old Now that rich decayeth and waxeth, old
is ready want to vanish away The old law was
done away with when Christ hung and he died on
(20:26):
that cross.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Remember he said it is finished. It is finished.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
He's gave us some more perfect covenant. Turn on over
to Hebrews chapter nine, beginning with verse sixteen. For where
a testimon is, there must also, of necessity be the
death of the testator. That tells us that Christ had
(20:55):
to die in order for this new covenant, this new
Testament to take place.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
For a testament is of force after men are dead.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
Otherwise it is of no strength at all while the
testator liveth Whereupon neither the first Testament was dedicated without blood.
It's the same as having a wheel today. If someone
has a will, their last wishes. It's there on paper, right,
(21:30):
it's there on paper. But until that person dies, everything
that's on that.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Paper means nothing, means nothing. But after that person dies,
what happens.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
That wheel is opened up, right, that wheels open up,
and everything that's written in that will.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Has to take place to take it has to happen. So,
after Christ.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Died on the cross, that old Testament, that old mosaical
law had to be done away with, because He's got
a new, perfect And.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Now we've got to open that new Testament.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Right, that new law, and see what Christ left in
it for us to follow. We must follow what the
Testator left for us to follow. Whereupon, neither the First
Testament was dedicated without blood verse nineteen. For when Moses
(22:35):
had spoken every precinct to all the people according to
the law, he took the blood of chasm of goats
with water and scarlet war and hiss and sprinkled both
the book and all the people, saying, this is the
blood of the Testament, which God has enjoyed unto you.
Wherever he sprinkled with blood, both the tabernacle and all
(22:58):
the vessels of the ministry, and almost all things are
by the law. Purge with blood and without the shedding
of blood is no remission. Christ had to suffer, He
had to die on the cross to fulfilled. And now
(23:22):
what we've got a new covenant, a new covenant. Now, suppose,
just as we talked about at the beginning, suppose we
just pulled that scripture out, right, If we just pulled
out the scripture that tells us that there was gonna
be a son born and his name is gonna be Jesus,
and he was gonna be our savior, and we stopped there,
(23:46):
what good does that do us?
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Right? Great, we've got a savior.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
But then we rightly divide and we go on over
and we study what you me neither, it's gonna be
somebody die for my sins.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Yes, that same.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Person that was born gonna be our savior. Is that
same person that's gonna die for my sins?
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Right, die for my sins.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Now, suppose we stopped there, Does that do us any good?
Speaker 1 (24:16):
Or great? We gotta save You're.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Born and he died for my sins and was crucified
on the cross. But what good does that do? So
you're telling me, as long as I believe that.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
That I'm gonna be saved. I'm gonna be saved.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
Maybe we should talk about he was resurrected. Right, let's
read on further. Let's not stop there. Let's rightly divide
the word of God and what happened after he was resurrected.
What happened after the resurrection. Maybe the answer to what
I've got to do to be saved we will be
(24:53):
found there.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Turn over to.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Mark Mark chapter sixteen. We go back to after Jesus
had died, after he was buried, and after he rose again.
After he rose, what happens Mark chapter sixteen. We'll see
that the apostles are setting around verse fourteen. Afterward he
(25:23):
appeared until the eleven as they sat at me and
upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart. So
what's happening the apostles? They're an unbelief. They don't believe it.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
They've heard that Jesus has rose from the dead. They
don't believe this, no, no way. Jesus appears under them
as they.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
Sit there in their unbelief, their hardness of their heart,
because they believe, not them which.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Had seen him after he was risen.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
Notice verse fifteen, what does Jesus say, he said, and
too them. Notice, go ye into all the world and
preach the Gospel to every creature. Now Jesus has instructions.
We've got a new covenant. And Jesus appears to the
(26:25):
twelve and he says, listen, listen, go into the world
to preach the gospel of every creature. He that believeth
Verse sixteen, He that believeth shall be saved.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
I'm sure your Bible doesn't read that way, right He
that believeth and calls on My name will be saved.
He that believe in that praise really hard.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
I'll say those people, No, Jesus said, he that BELIEVETH
and is baptised shall be saved.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
But he that believeth not shall be dead. It doesn't
get any simpler than that, Bros and sisters.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
But yet we have a world full of people that
are trying to convince people that they can be saved
by only believing or praying a prayer, falling down on
their knees, asking Jesus into their heart, picking and choosing
a scripture, causing people to.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Lose their soul because they don't want.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
To open up their Bible and rightly divide the word
of God, and it didn't stop there After Jesus commanded
of them what to do? What do you think they did?
Do you think they listened? Or do you think, Oh,
that's too hard. That's too hard. Lord, that's too hard.
(28:10):
Will never convince people to obey the gospel, to believe
that you are the son of God, and to be
baptized to wash away their sins.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
We'll never be able to do that.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
No, they done exactly what Jesus commanded them to do,
and Acts chapter two. Acts Chapter two on the Dead Pentecost,
after Jesus had appeared under them, after Jesus had told
them what they needed to do, Peter did exactly that.
(28:46):
On the day of Pentecost, he preached into those people, Jesus,
they've become prickting their heart Verse thirty seven of Acts
chapter two. Now when they heard this, they were pre
in their heart and said into Peter and to the
rest of the apostles, men and brethren.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
What shall we do.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
Peter said it to them, repent and be baptized, every
one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for
the remission of sin, and ye shall receive the gift
of the Holy Ghost, and this promise verse thirty nine.
This promises unto you, to your children, to all that
are far off, even as many as the Lord our
(29:31):
God shall call.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Peter did exactly what Jesus told him to do.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
He preached faith and baptism for the remission of sins
again Paul in Romans chapter six.
