Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Blessings in Christ. I'm Scott Roberts. Blessings in
(00:03):
Christ is also the Church of Christ preaching the Gospel
of where a Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Of he
that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. The Church
of Christ Romans sixteen sixteen. Because Jesus built it, and
he called it his own when he said, upon this rock,
I will build my church Matthew sixteen eighteen. Jesus gave
(00:23):
himself for the church Ephisians five, twenty five. He purchased
the church with his own blood. Acts twenty and verse
twenty eight. Jesus is the head over all things to
the Church, which is his body Ephisians one twenty two
through twenty three. Ephisians four. There's one Lord, one faith,
one baptism, one hope of your calling. Therefore, the Church
(00:45):
is Christ's body, and the members of this body make
up the church. And of course Jesus is the savior
of the body. Acts five and verse twenty three. Our
lesson is by Joey Fox. He's continuing his lesson on
people think it strange, and today he's going to speak
for a few minutes on the covering the Headship from
(01:07):
First Corinthians eleven. Once again, Joey Fox from Batyville, Kentucky
is going to say a few words on the covering
the Headship from First Corinthians eleven. We hope that you
enjoyed the lesson today. Please like us on Facebook.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
But it happened just the way God would have it to.
And then a second Second Corintance, chapter five or seventeen,
it says, therefore, if any man be in Christ, he
is a new creature. All things are passed away. And behold,
all things have become new. You think about back in
(02:47):
time past, when we first obeyed all things was bred
in it. We wanted to get in this book and
do it just the way that God would have us to.
And over time sometimes we let things of this world
get in their way, and we decide, oh, well, I
don't need to do that exactly today Earth get can
(03:08):
wait for just a little while. You know, our first
verse in the Bible study this morning is said to
bush not up tomorrow, for we know not what a
day may bring. We don't even this week. We've had
those of our loved ones that have passed, friends that
have passed that are younger than us, that had no
(03:31):
idea that they was going to pass, but they did.
They've gone from this earth, but we're still here. We
need to be doing what God would have us to do. Well.
Some other things that I thought about in this vein
of thing is not just the principle of the Gospel,
(03:56):
but in first Krink in chapter fourteen and verse thirty
three through thirty seven, it says, for God is not
the author of confusion, but of peace. As in all
churches of the Saints, let your women keep silent in
the churches, for it is not permitted unto them to speak,
(04:16):
but they are commanded to be under obedience as also
saith the law. And if they will learn anything, let
them ask their husbands at home, for it is a
sinning for women to speak in the church. What came
the word of God out from you or came unto
(04:37):
your own? If any man think himself to be a
prophet or a spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things
that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
Thinking about, we're gonna look at how women should be,
and how fathers should be, and how men should be,
and how our children should be thinking about the those states.
(05:00):
People think that that's strange that we think that a
woman shouldn't speak in the church. There's people all over
this world today that are letting women get up in
the fool ped and preach and talk and speak and
comment and all those things. Guess what what does he
say right here? He's not the author of confusion. He
(05:23):
said that they are to keep silent in the churches.
Then in Firs tenhy chapter two, in verse nine through twelve,
in like manner, also that women adorn themselves a modester pearl,
with shank fagness and sobriety, not with broidered hair or gold,
or a pearl or costly array. But which becometh women
(05:46):
professing Godness with good words. There wor those two words
again with good works. Let the women learn in silence
with all suggestion. But I suffer not a woman to teach,
nor to you serve authority over a man, But be
to be in silence.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
Then you go wrong.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
In first printing, chapter eleven, in verse one through fifteen,
it says, be he followers of me, even as I
also am of Christ. Now I'll praise you, brethren that
you remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances
as I delivered to them to you. But I would
(06:27):
have you to know that the head of every man
is Christ, and the head of the woman is the Man.
And the head of Christ is God. And every man
praying or Prost's son having his take cover just on
this head. You know, there's a lot of people out
in the world that think that they have to put
a little cap on their head. And in prayer, he
(06:51):
says right here that that's not supposed to be. He
dishonored this head. And he says, but every woman that
prayeth or offside with her head uncovered, this side of
her head, for that is even all woman, as if
she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered,
(07:13):
let her also be shorn. But if it be ashamed
for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her
be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover
his head, for as much as he is the image
and glory of God, but the woman is the glory
of the man. For the man is not of the woman,
(07:37):
but the woman of the man. Neither was the man
created for the woman, but the woman for the man.
For this caused all the woman to have power on
her head because of the angels. Nevertheless, neither is the
man without the woman, neither woman without the man in
the Lord. For as the woman is of the man,
(07:59):
even so is the man also by the woman. But
all things of God. Judging yourselves, is it comely for
a woman to pray unto God? Uncovered? Does not even
nature itself teach you that if a man have long hair,
it is a shame une human. But if a woman
(08:21):
have long hair, it is a glory to her. And
her hair is given to her for a color. It's
given to her. That hair is given and people will
just shave it off and get rid of it. Now,
there's nothing wrong with somebody that has like mom, that
has had something and it caused it to go off.
(08:42):
That's nature. But there's those out in the world that
will just shave it off, get rid of it. But
it's a glory. But he's talking about both men and
women here. He says they're all but all things are
of God. And he says we're supposed to show that
(09:02):
kindness to one another, that authority to one another, because
we're for as much as he is the image and
glory of God, the man is the image and the
glory of God. I think that's a lot of what
the world's of God. The man has for God, that
(09:22):
he is the image and the glory of God. He'd
rather let the woman take authority and do everything that
he's supposed to do and stand up for what's right.
I'm not saying that women don't have their place, and
I'm not picking on women today because I'm gonna talk
about women and children and the man too. But I
(09:43):
thought this is a good opportunity because a lot of
people think that these verses that we've talked about this
morning are strange, that we're strange because we believe such,
but we need to be act it and on and
what the Lord told us to do this morning. That's
why you see the women here covered. They're a short
(10:06):
honor not just to the man, but they're short honored
to God. And the man being uncovered is short and
honored to God as well, like he asked us to do.
Then Beephesians chapter five and verse twenty two through thirty three.
It says, for the husband is the head of the wife,
even as Christ is the head of the church, and
he is the savior of the body. Therefore, as the
(10:29):
church is subject under Christ. So let the wives be
to their own husbands and everything. Husbands, love your wives,
even as Christs also love the Church and gave themself
for it. Now you think about that, that's another problem.
A lot of men don't love their wives. They love
somebody else's wife more than their own, or somebody that
(10:49):
ain't ed and the wife. That's a problem. But he says,
we're supposed to be husbands, love your wives, even as
Christ loved the Church and gave himself for it, that
he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of
water by the word, that he might present it to
himself a glorious church, having not having spot or wrinkle
(11:13):
or any such thing, but that it should be and holy,
be holy, and without blendings. So ought men to love
their wives as their own bodies. And he that loveth
his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated
his own flesh, but nurse and cherishes it, even as
the Lord the Church. For we are members of his body,
(11:37):
and of his flesh, and of his bones. For this
cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall
be joined unto his wife, and they too shall be
one fledged it is a great mystery. But I speak
concerning Christ and the Church. Nevertheless, that everyone you be
peculiar his wife even as himself, and the wife see
(12:04):
that she reverence her husband. The husband's supposed to love
his wife, just like Christ loved the church, loved the church,
loved the church, and gave himself. Forth, we ought to
be willing to give our life for our lives if
we needed to do that, lay down our lives for
our lives. And he says, no man ever yet hated
(12:28):
his own money. We're supposed to think of it as
our own body and be together. And I think that's
a problem. But then we go on to talk about
something that people think are strange. Is in this day
and age and probably throughout time. As in Effusions Chapter
six and verse one through four, it says, children, obey
(12:52):
your parents in the world, for this is right. Honor
thy father and mother, for this is the first amendment,
with that you may be well, that it may be
well with thee, and thou may'st lived long on the earth.
And you, fathers, provoke not your children to wrath or
bring them up in the nurture and the amunition of
(13:13):
the Lord those verses are really strong because a lot
of people forgot that. The one the children don't know
what father and mother is is part of it. We're
not being fathers and mothers, but then honoring our father
and mother. You know, Dad and Mom told me a
(13:36):
lot of things in my life that I didn't care
much for them. You need to do this, you need
to do that. But for me to go and say, well,
I'm not going to do that, just I'm just want
to do whatever I want to do. You know, we're
out of well, une out on the road somewhere because
(13:57):
Daddy wouldn't have it. And I don't blame you now
having children of my all because I don't care much
for one mind say that they don't want do something
I don't want them to do. Because our honor my
father by doing the things that he asked me to do,
not so much just our earthly father, but our father
(14:19):
in heaven. Are we honoring him and doing the things
that he laid out for us to do. And then
he says, fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but
bring them up in the nurture and the admonition of Lord.
We don't need to provoke them to wrap to do
those things wrong, look for the things that are good
(14:40):
and the things that they would have us to do.
That's something that people think are strange. And we're gonna
talk a little bit more about the children part of
In Colossians three and verse twenty through twenty one, it says, children,
obey your parents and all things, for this is well
pleasing unto the Lord. And then fathers, provoke not your
(15:02):
children to anger, lest they be discouraged. Brother above this
morning in the Bible study talking about how we can
talk to our children and not discourage them, but to
bring them up in the nurture and admis and Lord
and help them to understand that we're not trying to
tell them something that's wrong, and we're not trying to
(15:26):
I don't know the right works to say, we're not
trying to be mean to them. We're just trying to
keep them away from that kind of stuff and to
do that which God would have him to do. And
then at Exodus chapter twenty and verse twelve is really
where this begins. He says, honor thy father and mother,
(15:46):
that thy days may be long upon the land which
the Lord thy God giveth thee that's part of the
Ten Commandments. If you go back there and you read
in the twentieth chapter of Exus, He's laid out the
ten commandments. And then some verses that I come across
that I love so well is in Proverbs chapter twenty
(16:09):
three and verse thirteen and fourteen. It sayst with whole
not correction from the child, For if thou beatst him
with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat
him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
Now you can take that as beating them with a
(16:29):
rod physically. I don't think that you should beat a child.
That ain't what I'm advocating for. But I think it's
also beaten them with the right rod, the rod of correction,
the rod of the Gospel, give know the things that
they have need of given them the rod of correction,
(16:51):
this rod, or correct him in a lot of things.
You may not just be able to talk to him.
And we've talked about that a little bit. Dad and
Mom didn't beat us. They just loosened the height up
a little bit to make us understand that we need
to do what we're supposed to do. And people think
(17:11):
that's ashamed and the disgrace today. But I'm here to
tell you that in a lot of cases, if you
don't do that, they'll get away from them and they'll
continue to do the things that God wouldn't have them
not to do, because they think that they know more
than you do. They know more than what you're trying
to kill. That's a hard one to say, but it's true.
(17:36):
In Proverbs chapter twenty two and verse fifteen, it says,
foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but
the right of correction shall drive it far from you.
And then in that same chapter and verse six it says,
train up a child in the way that he should go,
and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
(18:00):
I don't mean that they'll obey the gospel, that they'll
always do what God would have them to do, but
at least it'll be in their heart, in their mind
that this is what I'm supposed to do, this is
what I'm supposed to do. Then in Ephesians chapter four
and verse four through I'm going to say about verse seven,
(18:20):
it says, there is one body and one spirit, even
as you're called in one hope of your calling, one Lord,
one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all,
who is above all and through all, in you all,
there's only one. People thinks that's strange. All these things
that we've talked about this morning, they think is strange.
(18:44):
But I'm here to tell you they're not strange. If
you pick up the Bible and you read it, it's
not strange. It's right there in black and white and red.
And if we'll read it and understand it, it'll help
us in our lives. In Romans, chapter six and verse
one through seven, and it says, what shall we say,
then shall we continue in sin? That grace may abound
(19:08):
God forbidden? How shall we that are dead to sin
live any longer? Therein know you know that so many
of us, as were baptized into Christ, were baptized into
his dead. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism
into death. That like as Christ was raised up from
(19:31):
the dead by the glory of the Father, even so
we also should walk in newness of life. For if
we've been planning together in the likeness of his death,
we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.
Knowing this that our old man is crucified with him.
That the body of sin might be destroyed. And hencefore
(19:51):
if we should not serve sin, for he that is
dead is freed from sin. You know, one of the
first there's times that I ever talked to somebody about
the Gospel. I talked to him about this, And that's
the weirdest thing in the world to try to have
a conversation with somebody and you're talking to him about
(20:14):
being baptized into the dead. They don't understand that. But
we're dying to the love and practice of sin. And
when we come back up, we've contacted the blood of Christ,
and we are a new creature. We've become new. All
things have passed away, we've washed all that away. And
(20:35):
you know, that's hard for those that have never known
that kind of thing to understand it at all. But
he says we should walk in newness of life. That's
the newness of life. And if we've been planted together
in the lightness of his death, we should shall be
(20:56):
also in the lightness of his retirection. And after a
while we're going to be resurrected somewhere, and we want
to be with him. And then in verse seventeen of
that same chapter, the Romans chapter six, it says, but
God be thinked that you were the servants of sin,
but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of
(21:19):
doctrine which was delivered to you delivered you. And then
in verse twenty two and twenty three it says, but
now being made free from sin and become servants to God,
ye have your fruit unto holiness and the hen everlasting life.
(21:40):
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift
of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
People think that's strangage. And then finally in Second Corinthians,
chapter five and verse ten, it says, for we must
all appear before the judgment seed of Christ, that everyone
(22:01):
may receive the things done in his body according to
that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
We're gonna be resurrected, and we're gonna have to answer
for our service. People think that's stratege. They think that
he's just gonna welcome us on end, just come on over,
(22:23):
come on in. And a lot of people think that
it's Saint Peter's gonna be at the gates and he's
gonna welcome us right on in. I don't read nothing
about that. In my Bible, friends, I read that we're
going to answer to the Lord. He's going to do
the judgment, and he says every need shall back and
(22:45):
every time shall confence. And people think that's strange, But
it's going to happen. It's going to happen sooner than
we think. You know. It also speaks in the New
Testament that, well, maybe not in the New Testament, but
then the Bible it talks about our salvation being nearer
now than we may believe. It is. With every breath
(23:08):
we take, we're getting closer and closer to that after
a while that we always talk about, and that after
a while is going to come upon us like a
thief in the nine just as quickly as it can.
Some people may linger for years and some don't. That's
just the way it is. God's plan is that way.
(23:31):
But if you're hearing, not a member of the church,
you know you must hear the word talk Roman's ten
and verse seventeen. So then faith cometh by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God. Then you must believe
Hebrews eleven and verse six. But without faith it is
impossible to please him or he that cometh to God
must believed that he is, and then he is a
rewarder of them to diligently seek him. And then we
(23:53):
must repent. Acts seventeen and verse thirty and the times
of this evenret's God's winked at without command with all
men everywhere to repent. Then we must confess Matthew ten
and verse thirty two and thirty three. Whosoever therefore shall
confess me before men him, will I confess also before
my Father, which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny
(24:14):
me before men him, will I also deny before my father,
which is in heaven, you know, denying him. When we
don't do what God has would have us to do,
we're denying. We be'st not denyed, or He'll forget about
us in after a while. And then Acts chapter eight
(24:37):
and verse thirty seven, and Philip said, if thou believest
with all thy heart, thou mayst And the Ethiopian unit
answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is some
of God, making that good confession that he made the
same will help us today. And then we must be
baptized there and Acts the second chapter in verse thirty
(24:58):
seven and thirty eight. And when they heard this, they
were pricked in their heart and said, unto Peter and
the rest of the apostles, men and brother, what shall
we do? And then Peter said unto them, repent and
be baptized, every one of you in the name of
Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and you shall
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. And then in
verse forty one, it says, then they that gladly received
(25:20):
his words were baptized, and the same day they were
added unto them about three thousand souls. And then in
verse forty seven, it says, and the Lord added to
the church daily such as should be said. He does
the adding. We don't do it here. We don't keep
a record of that anywhere. He does the adding. And
(25:40):
we want you to become a part of his family,
a member of his body. Something that people think is strange.
I don't think it's strange. I think a lot of
this other stuff that people do is strange because they
have nothing to back it up. How did they come
up with some of these things that they decide to do.
(26:02):
And they do it every week, every Sunday, every time
that they come together. They do these things, and they
seem to be in contrary to what God would happen
to do. I think that's strange, very strange. But if
you're here, once obeyed and went back out in the world,
we have to be faithful. Revelations chapter two and verse ten.
(26:25):
Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee
a crowd of life. And then in Hebrews chapter nine
and verse twenty seven, it says, and as it is appointing,
none too men wants to die. But after this the
gentle the gentleman's coming, and then we must repent of
our errors. In James chapter five and verse sixteen, and
it says, confession fauts one to another and praying one
(26:47):
for the other that she may be healed. The affectional,
fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much he does.
And brother Johnson again he prays in our prayers we
truly repent. He'll truly forgive it. But we have to
make that step. And you know there's a song in
our song that it's only a step, only a step.
(27:09):
But people thinks that's strange. They don't want to step
out and do what God would happen to do. If
you're here today, it's subject the gospel caller. In either situation,
come let us assist you in your obedience. Ask together
to stand insane. It was so, why.
