Speaker 1 (00:02):
The all New, All After Striker podcast. All Right, here
we go Thursday afternoon. You got Booker, you got Striker,
you got Alt ninety eight seven on Booker Striker.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
How you doing I'm doing good. I'm I feel good
about giving away these my Chemical Romance tickets. I don't
know if you've seen our Instagram dms. Everyone's coming out
of the woodwork to get tickets for the Dodger Stadium show.
And just about everyone really wants the grand prize, which
is Gerard Way's personal plaque, and the merch booth raid. Yeah,
and you get premium seats.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
We haven't put enough shine on that merch booth raid
because people love march, you know what I mean, Like
getting a nice hoodie from Mike Cam Maybe a beanie, yeah,
match it with that hooster whatever.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Maybe there's a jacket back there you want?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Oh that's money, Yeah, tour jacket.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Looks like they got great merch they always have. Remember
I bought one from a street vendor.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I ran the street. Are you bring that out?
Speaker 2 (01:01):
I apologize for doing that.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
He did, but uh, we were across the street at
the Chargers game, and then we went. Striker wasn't dressed
for it. So we went and he bought a very
small looking like hole in the armpit. Did it keep?
Did you wash it?
Speaker 2 (01:17):
You washed it. If there's any seven year olds or
Chris Martin one of my Chemical Romance shirts or oh boy, do.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
You still have it? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:27):
I do.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Is it something that could be in rotation? Because I
don't believe I've seen it since your bought.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
It's a little too small, it really is. Yeah, it
was good for that. It's trunk a lot and there's
a hole in the armpit. And if you're wondering, like
why I wasn't dressed appropriate in my own mind, I
had a Chargers jersey on right because we did something
at the game, and they're like, wear the jersey. I
didn't want to wear a charge any jersey, not a
Jersey person, not at all, especially into yeah, a concert.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
He hates new Jersey even. I mean, it's just he
would not look cool to Mike chem show with the
Riker Chargers.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yeah. It was very embarrassed.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
The bookman didn't care. He's like, oatkay, I'll just.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Wear No, you went to your car and you had
to change.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Yes, Oh I got rid of my.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Yes, you did. I remember perfectly.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
I probably had something on underneath of it that was appropriate.
Booker and Striker, Booker and Striker, it is all ninety
eight seven. You got Striker. With everything happening in the world.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
As of now, Weezer is still on to play Coachella
this weekend. On Saturday, they were a band that was
announced to be a fill in band to just do
one weekend. Ed Sheeron is doing next weekend. I'm sure
you've heard the news by now. But Scott Schriner, he
is the bassist. His wife was booked for attempted murder.
She was shot in the shoulder by police officers. It
(02:42):
was after a police chase just a couple of days ago.
We went over it for two hours on the show yesterday.
But he says they're still gonna play.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
So, Booker, I ask you this question. If your fiance
was booked, you know, let's just say, but and who
knows whatever, just booked on a charge this serious? Right,
you're still coming to do book Prince Striker.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
I mean I know where she's gonna be sure, Are you.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Still coming to do the show? All right? Fair enough?
Think So, how do you think the KFC inspired toothpaste
is doing terribly incorrect. It's sold out. You can't find
it anywhere. What about the KFC electric toothbrush, how's that doing.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
I'm gonna say terribly Nope, sold out.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
You can't get a thing whoever. You know, sometimes in
these boardrooms are a bunch of nitwits. But the KFC folks,
with their merch and their toothpaste and the smell like
this and the taste like this, they are making things.
They're creating items that folks seem to want. Yeah, now
I don't want it, but someone does.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Here's the thing. I think. They create eight of them,
and then they say those eight are sold out, and
then we're led to believe that, oh, a bunch of
people wanted them, when it turns out there's only it.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
No, I disagree. They're not going to make just eight.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
I think now, if you said book you could have
a KFC sweatshirt or hoodie, I would want that.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Cut down for your Christmas gift this year. Or toothpaste thing?
Is it aspired by Kentucky Fried Chicken or the Colonel?
How about this? Give me a life sized doll of
the kernel is my hug pillow? I'll take that pass. No,
don't put that out there. Hey, you guys gotta be
careful what you share with chat GPT. All your data
(04:34):
possibly could be hacked. And they're like, well, what do
I care. I'm just talking about music and asking simple questions.
And there's a lot of a lot of folks out
there are sharing their passwords with chat GPT or they're
sharing like very embarrassing secrets financial information. So just be
careful around chat GPT.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Becausetp is a flirty little lady because you can talk
and she'll talk back to you, and you know, you
can have full conversations.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Now that's what we are, so top thirty on the radio,
Like we talked to you, you talked back, she will
talk thirty two thirty two. Ken Griffy Junior is the
Hall of Fame baseball player from the Seattle Mariners. Hasn't
played in many, many years. You know, when baseball players
or any athletes retire, some find it very difficult to
figure out what they're going to do next. Ken Griffy
(05:23):
Junior has been studying photography for a very long time.
He is now a credentialed photographer at the Masters Golf Tournament.
Pretty wild good for him.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
That's cool.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
You know one of his teammates is really into photography
as well as ex teammates, Randy Johnson. That's right, the
Big Unit.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
That's right. It's funny because I I when you read
the story, I was like, I must be confused because
I thought it was another player that was would look
weird out there shooting photos. And you're right, it is
a Randy Johnson who's also out there as a photographer,
but he doesn't exactly blend in because the Big unit's
like six.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Nine exactly the Unit. By the way, even if you
don't watch sports, you've probably seen the footage on your
Instagram and your algorithm. He threw a pitch and the
exact time he threw a ninety nine mile per hour fastball,
a seagull flew right in the way and the brooded.
The bird exploded into smitherings.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
It was wild.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
A thirty Seconds to Mars show is happening to celebrate
the twentieth anniversary of their album A Beautiful Eye. It's
gonna happen on August sixteenth, and if you go to
the Alt ninety eight seven Fm Instagram, we are giving
away tickets for that show, which was just announced again
at the form August sixteenth, and this song is on there,
and I'm striker. That's all I got.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Let's play. I'm thirty seconds to Mars Booker and Striker
all ninety eight seven.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Booker and Striker ninety eight seven.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
All right, Hooker and Striker on Alt ninety age seven.
I say this because I love you, buddy, I do,
and I know what pleases you. I know what makes
you really happy. And I think that once a year
I should go out of my way and give you
thirty seconds too.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Bookers Golf update.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Oh, let's striker talk about golfs. Go to Booker, Booker,
thank you, not me, Striker, actually for thirty seconds. Tell
us what you want to tell us about the Masters
and why it's so great.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
This is a golf tournament's one of four majors. It
happens the same golf course every single year. It's very
family oriented. Right now, this guy, Justin Rose, who's kind
of a little bit older gentleman, is up by four strokes.
I really like the tradition of the Masters. I think
they were very racist, or they were for a long time. Luckily,
(07:37):
I don't think there's so racist out there. But one
day in my life. It's on my bucket list. It's
not that I want to go. I would like to
play one round at that golf course. If anybody knows anybody.
Thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Booking all right, time is up next year. We will
check in with Striker next year.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Matt.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
That's it. That's all you get. What's a year. I
believe my boys should have some fun on the radio
with the Masters, and there you heard it. Everybody congratulate
and happy Masters watching Striker.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Well, Coachelle is this weekend.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
I'm sorry, we're out of time.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Booker and Striker.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Booker and Striker hanging out on All ninety eighty seven
with more my Chemical Romance tickets plus that prize package
your chance to qualify for that coming up at first.
It is Striker. With everything happening in the world.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
You got to shout out another radio host right now,
Carrie Steele, because middays on the coast, she's limiting to
us every day on a ride from the Bourbank area
down to Orange County, and she mentioned that to me,
So there's a lot of traffic out there. Thank you,
Carrie Steel. How about some space news, Booker, I was
on a zoom call today with my friends from NASA.
(08:40):
It had been a while, but I'm back at it
with NASA and they let me know that Jared Isaacman,
who he's a NASA administrator, he is vowing to prioritize
a mission to the Moon. The next voyage Artemis is
scheduled for twenty twenty six. There's been a lot of
chatter because President Trump and Elon Musk are fairly close
(09:01):
that Mars would really be the focus and take away
from the Moon mission. The Moon is happening. We filmed
at Warner Brothers.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
No atmosphere on Mars. Why are we trying to send
people to Mars. I thought we were trying to cut
the budget.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Booker, I don't want to talk about that kind of
stuff on Maright, listen, this is space news. This makes
me happy. Twenty twenty six. You didn't even hear what
I said. They're gone. They're gonna film it at Warner Brothers.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Pielburg will be behind it.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Now I'm going to be xed out of my NASA meetings.
So anyway, that that got me very exciting. Three six
Mafia Oscar winners. You know it's hot out here for
a PMP. They won an Oscar Award years ago for
the movie Hustle and Flow. There'll be at Coachella this weekend,
and they just said that they're going to be joined
on stage by Travis Barker. He's gonna get out there
(09:48):
and play drums for the set.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
No kidding. Yeah that's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
I love the movie Hustle and Flow.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Did I see that? I don't think I saw this
great movie. Good movie.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
I love this song. Here we go, turn it up?
Done it girls?
Speaker 1 (10:06):
So good? All right, next story.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
But it's a great Oscar winning song.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
I can name five hundred other songs that also blow
that one.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Name name one, any other name one.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Let me come up with this year.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
That song is incredible.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
We'll go back to that song. But there we go.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Come on, all right, I'm gonna change I gotta change
up the tune a little bit here, because this is
this is a moving story. Mark Hoppus, our friend from
Blinkwin eighty two. His book is out Fahrenheit one eighty two.
Something that he did mention in there is that he
considered suicide after blinkin eighty two broke up. He was
(10:45):
really in a horrible place. Thanks to his friends and
family ended up seeing a psychiatrist. He went on medications,
and you know, then he then he went through a
cancer treatment and he's doing really well now. And if
you want to see Mark Coppis read his book in
evening with Mark Coppas at the Wiltern, we'll be giving
(11:05):
away tickets for that Booker and striker next week.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Nice's very nice. Dave Grold did a similar thing at
the Ford Theater and that was fun. You know, played
some music. I bet Marko plays some music too.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
No, I don't think he's doing any music. You don't
think I think he's just reading from the book. You sure, No,
I'm not sure. But I think that if he's been
doing this book to our city to city to city,
we would have seen that fall. Oh.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
I see okay, because I've seen him be interviewed and
he's been like sitting down and talking about some riffs
and stuff and they'll like play along a little bit.
I don't know, maybe a mini son would be kind
of cool. I'm just trying here.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
You know. Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with just
going to hear him talk about the book. The booker
reading pessimistic today. Honestly, you're bringing me.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Down hard out here for.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
To make the money, and then just say it.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
I want to see the guy perform. That's all.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
So The Last of Us, which is the HBO series,
season two, debuts on the thirteenth. Our uncle is in
the show. He's very happy because season three just got
the green light, and The Last of Us, which is
based on a video game, did incredibly well season one
(12:22):
and season two of course will do great.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Hey, listen, season three, that is the time when you
and I usually catch on to a show. So let's
buckle in, let's hunker down, let's watch season and tell
everybody how great it is, and so they can tell us, hey, dummies,
it's been great because we're up to season three already.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
That's you man. The Ducks play the Kings tonight.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
I'm sorry, what's what's the new show you're watching? Secession?
I think, no, no, what's the one.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
With one season two? There's only been two seasons started.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Let me recommend your show to everybody.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
It's about these two brothers, okay and their mom.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Brothers.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Their mom was a housekeeper, she died, and the white
millionaire ends up adopting the kids. The show is called
different strokes. You would love it, Okay, I'm striking that
the All Afternoons with Booker and Striker.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
On All Booker and Striker, it is all ninety eight
seven Striker. Going to Coachella tonight.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yeah, going later tonight after work.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Do you have traditions or anything you do before Coachella?
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Not at all. No, I'm just this has been a
really fun week work and other things. I need to
pick up my energy once I get there a little bit,
but I'm sure instantly the second you walk in you
get that energy.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
And also, I was talking last night, you know, we
talked so much. I don't know if it's on the
radio or off. One of the things that I do
love about Coachella, especially like since I've been going since
ninety nine, my focus has changed a little bit. Once
I'm inside, the coloring of the mountains, palm trees, the
sun setting and then the zillion stars out there and
the people watching, and then going to watch a few
(14:00):
bands that are on my radar, Like that's the highlight
for me. Not running in at one and seen forty
bands in one day.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
It's wild. You say that because the last time I
went only a couple of years ago, but the last
time I went. It's weird how over the years your
priorities changed from you know, that late night party now
to the fact that there's so much great food there
and if you're a foodie at all, you can really
kind of, you know, pick your spots where you want
to go. There's this sushi handbar place I always go to,
(14:30):
which is kind of behind the big EDM tent whatever.
That one is the big one, right, I always go
over there. Like you, you know, you find out your
space and it takes a couple of years of being
at Coachella to find the cool different areas to kind
of navigate around.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
There's a good pizza place called Spicy Pie. Have you
ever had the Spicy Pie Spicy Poe. It's really really good.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
But again I say this all the time with Booker.
No matter what festival you're going to, whether it's Lollapalooza,
whether it's Coachella. When the sun is going down, there
is some sort of energy that happens within the festival.
There is the sound gets a little louder, the people
get a little bit more crazy, and individually you just
start Okay, I think I'm ready to turn it up
five notches here and.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
At some point you will see Leonardo DiCaprio.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
In a baseball hat pulled down low, going crazy to
an EDMDJO.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Right which you'll see problems.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Yes, if you go by the rose gard it's Booker
and Strikers, Booker and Striker, Booker.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
And Striker A ninety seven. Not too often it is
one of our bands. Kind of TMZ headline, kind of news.
But that is the case for Weezer.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
There is an update. We have two updates here. So
first let's just tell the quick story in case you
don't know and you've been living on planet Mars. Scott
Schreiner is the bassist. His wife, Jillian was shot by
police in the shoulder and then she was booked for
attempted murder. She was holding up a gun after there
was a police chase in their neighborhood, which she had
(15:56):
nothing to do with the police chase, but the cops
ended up either in her back her next door. We'll
eventually find out exactly what happened, but the cops say
she pointed the gun at them. They said drop it,
drop it, drop She didn't. According to all reports, they
shot her. Then she crawled back in the house. It
didn't come out.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
For a while, thirty minutes. She hung out inside, but
then walked out surrendered. So that's where they left it.
She was arrested for you know, attempted murder. Tempted murder,
which out on bail. Now, now that is the first
piece of the news.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Okay, one million dollar bond and then the second piece
of the news. And Booker and I were going back
and forth with this yesterday, even though there's much more
serious issues to the Weezer store, we wanted to know
if Weezer was still going to play Coachella. Right, this
guy's wife and his family is going through something extremely serious, Right,
She's still going to go to Coachella? The answer is yes?
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Is she going to go to Coachella?
Speaker 2 (16:51):
No? I doubt she?
Speaker 1 (16:52):
No, No, no, why not?
Speaker 2 (16:53):
She probably has to stay.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
At home, hey, Annison, until proven guilty, she may go
to Coachella this weekend and support her husband. How about
the TMZ cameras are going to be on their set
because I think this is one of those you know
moments where everyone's like, you know, will she show up?
Let's get some footage of him they're probably not gonna.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
A million years. She's going to be there, Booker. Listen,
I was I studied to be a bondsman years ago.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
I remember that.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
You remember that, I do. It was right before I
got into radio. And then I thought, you know what,
even though I'm fast enough to run down some of
these criminals, I'm just not strong enough to wrestle them. Right,
I think if you're out on bond for a million bucks,
there's probably some sort of deal that's made with the courts,
like you can stay within twenty miles where you can
only go to school or drive your kids to LA
(17:42):
like that. Right. I don't think going to Coachella is
one of the deals on there. But that's just me
based on my bond school experience.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
You didn't finish, after all. I mean that there may
have been some amendments since then. A lot of things
could have changed since you got into radio.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
But I did watch every second of Dog the Bounty Hunters,
so that makes.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Me as it should as it should. So yeah, I'm
wondering what that coverage is gonna look like this weekend.
And uh, you know, it's a short set. They're filling
in for someone else.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
But it's still you're still you're playing ten songs, right,
it's forty five to fifty three minute set range. Yeah,
and that Weezer songs are three to four minutes long.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
What do you thinks on the band's mind? Like forget
the husband? Like rivers? Like what's going through his head
right now? Like is he like what the like he
turns on the news, Like what the you gotta be
kidding me?
Speaker 2 (18:33):
I put myself in my shoes. I put we know
if all of a sudden you said to me, strike
her my fiance Kelvin, You're not gonna believe what happened.
She was walking one of our dogs name Bean, and
then she got into a shootout with police. Right, she
got arrested. Right? What I would just ask you? Yeah,
in the most respectful sort of way. Yeah. One thousand questions.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Right number one? Will he be to work tomorrow?
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Yes? Will be at work? Probably.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
I don't really know how to run that console over.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
There a lot of that tomorrow, Booker, I need to
fill twenty seven frickin' segments. Can I call you between
three forty three forty get.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Your prize picks pick for tomorrow?
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Yes? And then Booker's Striker, Who are your golf picks?
Because the Master's TURNIFI is happy.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
To know these. Here's another guy that we'll be playing
this weekend and we will be talking to Joe next week.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Joe Carrey.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Yes, on Booker and Striker. You will hear that this weekend.
This this weekend, Joe, of course, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
All not
Speaker 1 (19:33):
The all new, all afternoons Sweet Booker and Striker Podcast
