The all new All Afternoons Sweet Booker and Striker Podcast.
All right, here we go Booker and Striker New Lincoln
Park Friday. You remember the title? I remember?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
No, Sorry, do not chatter? Very good?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Look at me?

Speaker 2 (00:15):
There's a new Lincoln Park song by the way, scheduled
to be released every week until twenty twenty nine, and
we will Roar premiere also known as world premiere all
of them. How are you, Booker?

Speaker 1 (00:26):
I'm good. Also, we'd like to make another announcement because
the Woodie Show After Hours Takeover went so well, we
gave away a lot of tickets. Striker had a great idea.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Let's give away some more in this hour for the
Woodie Show Takeover. Just call I mean we have We
don't have tickets to give you.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
No I have anything. We just want to talk to you.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Stuff the buzz and the excitement and hearing you. Maybe
you have your kids in the car because you're driving
home from school. We always like hearing the chatter in
the background.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
It's our imaginary trip to California. Advout your park. We
will tell you what a chuo smells like, all the rides,
everything is there?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Anything? Because I have one answer and I'll get to
it quickly that you didn't do it, California Adventure. Now
two days later, you're like, why didn't I do that?

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Here? DELI, I went right, you give me the look
on the way out. I took that peek around the corner.
It was closed. Oh it was, but I would have
it was after like eleven, so I would if it
was open, I still would have went, even after all
the crap I shoved in me. Yeggy, I would have
definitely still had it. I'm a little upset that I

(01:29):
didn't do that.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
I wanted because I smelled a waffle cone somewhere walking out,
and I didn't say anything that exact second. But then
when Britt and I my girl up, it were two
feet from the exit. I said, God, I really want
an ice cream cone. She's like, you want to go back? No, no,
But I should have said it right at the waffle
cone smelling situation.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
That's always a guess, Just like Kevin festival passes. We
have more of those today, Nice Vampire Weekend, Empire of
the Sound, Block Party, Group Love and more. Hang out
to get those as we get our Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
The moving Let's go with radioheads.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
It's Booker and Striker, Booker and Striker, Night seven, Booker
and Striker, Striker with everything happening in.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
The world quickly did the text line from the three
two three from Marlin, what's up Booker and Striker. The
water show at the takeover was amazing, but I ended
up wet giggity, I.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Mean just Marlin.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Thank you, buddy, Thanks for using our lingo, especially in
a text It played well. You landed it five six two.
Want to give a shout out to my five year
old son. We went to the takeover. He was finally
tall enough to write Guardians of the Galaxy and the
car's ride had an absolute blast. Thank you Booker and
Striker in all ninety eight seven.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
How about that?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Sorry I didn't see you guys. It also says the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of twenty twenty
five will be announced this coming weekend. The fan voting ended,
if you didn't know, and there were fourteen band slash
artist nominees.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Okay, seven bands were.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
The top vote getters, and they are the artists that
are now on one ballots. Okay, those top seven vote
getters Fish Bad Company, Billy Idol, Cindi Lauper, Joe Cocker, Soundgarden,
and Chubby Checker.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Okay, okay, now what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Striker told them the top seven fan vote getters now
become one ballot. So for sure one of those is
going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for sure.
But every band or artist that was nominated is eligible.
There's over a thousand other voters that will vote that

(03:35):
will lead to who gets into the class of twenty
twenty five. Okay, wow, I think I but it is
such a guys I am into the Hall of Fame
in music and it's confusing to me.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I asked Striker. We were sitting in the office before
the show, and I said, what exactly does it all mean?
Thirty minutes later he stopped talking. He just went on
and on, Wait a minute, No, doesn't mean that means this?
Possibly it's that is this banded? Not sure.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I will give one piece of information that nobody will
forget that I think is the most important of all.
How does a band or artist become eligible for the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twenty five years after
their first commercial recording? Is when you're eligible? Okay? And
that I think is good. Infra rank.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Okay, so the class of twenty twenty five will be
the inductees will be announced on American Idol this Sunday.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Perfect pairing.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I was on a zoom call this morning. Wasn't an
emergency zoom, just a normal one with my friends from NASA. Sure,
and they want me to share with you that a
rare smiley face alignment will appear in the sky on
April twenty fifth. Okay, this is when Venus and Saturn
are the eyes of the smiley face and a razor
thin crescent moon is the smiley part that's going to happen. Yes,

(05:01):
and it's visible from anywhere on Earth. So a shout
out to all our friends that are streaming in the
UK and Australia, or maybe you're streaming in West LA
or East LA. Two thirty am is probably going to
be the best time again for us, right, because it's
changes for everyone else. That's right.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Depends on where the moon is in the sky.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
That's right. So let me go through every single.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Please, what's it doing in Sydney, Australia Tell you that time, please.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
So it is visible from anywhere on Earth. But again,
two thirty am on April twenty fifth. It is called
the Smiley Face Alignment.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Hopefully you'll get up and take a picture for all
of us.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Oh, I will for sure. I love this stuff And
Anthony Bourdain biopic for Sure is happening and locked in.
Do you know who Dominic Sessa is? Booker? He was
and is the breakout star young actor. He was in
The Holdovers. He was like the main student who formed
the relationship with Paul Giamatti. It was a nominated film.

(05:57):
I think Paul Giamatti man won.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
The Oscar for it. I saw that this.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Kid was great in it. Yeah, The Holdovers is a
really really good movie. He will be playing Anthony Bourdain.
Oh cool, I called it wasn't It wasn't a difficult
call the Lakers last night, even up the series one one.
It's like, now Minnesota looks like they don't know what
they're doing, right. They looked like useless, useless.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
But Striker told me before the game, before we left,
he said, look, they had maybe Regulate told me this.
It was me was he a well, just claimed Striker
told me this. He said, regulates laughing. I think you
said they had one job to do. Come to Los
Angeles and take one of the two games. And that's
exactly what they did. So you were like last night
to wash the Lakers are gonna win, and they did.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Indeed, indeed, it wasn't even didn't feel that close.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Maybe for a second in the moth quarter, didn't.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
The Dodgers back in Chicago, the Angels are playing the Pirates.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
See the parade of Dodger fans at Wrigularville yesterday. It
was wild, Like a thousand Dodger fans showed up and
they had a parade in front of their ballpark. It
was the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
And those Cubs fans are very passionate and understand baseball,
so I wonder if they were irked by that.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
I'm sure they were. Good for them.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
La Kings, let's go Game two versus the Oilers. Kings
are up one nothing in that series.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
They almost blew the first one.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
But they did it nothing. They don't ask how, they
ask how many? I'm striker, That's all I got. The
All Afternoons with Booker and Striker on ALL ninety eight seven.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
All right, Booker and Striker on ALT ninety h seven.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
That was good. Charlotte and they've been putting out some
messaging on their Instagram that something big is happening soon.
There was a picture of them. Looks like they're doing
a music video twenty twenty five, so we will look
for that, Okay. Benji and Joel Madden the front dudes,
they're twins.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Twins, Yeah, you think they think like those twins on
the news yesterday.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
The women from Australia who talk in unison.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
And one guy he was up there with our mom
and he he went up there and he was coming
back down on the worlds and he Gus Roun, he's
got it gone.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
They Bridget and Paula Powers from Australia. That was them
live on the news in Australia. They were on either
Fox or CNN yesterday and the host said, Bridget and
Paula please just one of you answer this please. They
couldn't do it to it and they're wearing the exact
same thing and they look the exact same.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
I think it's cool with twins are that connected? You know,
I don't know if Benji and Joel, like I don't
have any recollection of them being even that similar, you
know what I mean, Like they have very distinct different personalities.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
I think distinct personalities, yes, but five can you tell
them apart by.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Looks in twenty twenty five?

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yes, no you cannot, because did you do it in
twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
I could back then, but that was after a lot
of interactions. I always hated it at the beginning when I
would have to interview the guys because you know, you
would just see them on TV and that's in a
video and it's grainy at best, and you probably got
makeup on and everything else. So the first couple of
times it was hard, but you know, once you get
to know them, you're It's like tattoos. It was tattoos
that you could use to identify one from the other.

(09:11):
And I think there was a specific tattoo that.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
At the time one of them.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
But I was like, I just memorized, like, you know,
black star, right elbow, that's Benji Benji whatever, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
I was really good at identifying them early on. Without tattoos.
There was like a three percent difference in their shape
face the face of their shape. But I do want
to throw out another set of twins that are in
the Interrupters, Justin and Jesse and I hope they're not listening.
I know their mom listens to us. They're from the Valley,
the Interrupters.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
I still can't can't tell them.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
I love those two guys that I'm so embarrassed sometimes
one of them as a mohawk.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
We had an interview once and they were coming in
and I was like, which one's gonna be witch? He's like,
I don't know, I can't remember.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
They and they are way more similar to those two sisters.
Then we just played then Benji and Joe, those two
talking unison. And again they're the rhythm section of the Interrupters.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
So maybe they think I like that way just music, right.
I like it when twins have like names, like like
two of my best friends from growing up, they were twins,
Larry and Gary. Heck. I love whether there's Larry and Garrett.
Why would they do that?

Speaker 2 (10:23):
We left that.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Larry's still a good friend to this day. I see Larry.
I'm a part booker. Back then, well, in grade school
they weren't like great friends, so no, but when high
school turned around, I became friends with one of them,
So yes, very quickly you could but fun Larry Garrett, Wait.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
We're live, right, I think, so I can't take the
Justin and Jesse interrupters thing back because now I feel bad.
I've got hiking with them. Seriously, We've got an hour's
long hikes and I just don't say their name.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Striker, what a friend? Booker and Strikers.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Booker and Striker, Boker and Striker.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
On a ninety eight seven another chance that a grand
with the word win. You take win to our website,
which is all ninety eight seven FM dot com. Put
it in the box, pick up the phone at for Striker.
With everything happening in the world.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Yeah, Green Day, they are on a roll. They just
headlined Coachella. I feel like they're bigger than ever and
just announced they're gonna be on the Boulevard or Broken
Dreams Hollywood Boulevard. They are getting a star on May first.
It's just a couple weeks away, twenty twenty five. Congratulations
to Green Day. Who can I pitch you something?

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Let's go?

Speaker 2 (11:34):
We going right when I started all ninety eight seven,
within a couple of weeks, do you remember who got
a star? All right, hot chili pepper and we went
down there together, got good video, such good video. It
was much more fun than I was expecting it to be,
like we were right there on May first. You want
to go down to Green Day and do a little

(11:55):
some with those guys. Day is that on May first?
I don't know. DJ regularly can look it up. It's
a third go talk to Joe.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Never mind Thursday, I record.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Sorry, oh you do? Okay, Well, I'll go down there
and I'll talk to those guys.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Here's the thing. It'll probably be in the afternoon because
they all we've been watching them on TV. I feel
like the Peppers one was a rare early morning one
for whatever reason.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Cyprus Hill when they got theirs, theirs was I think
somewhat early in the day. All right, anyway, good job
to Green Day. I know what you did last summer.
The newest and latest version of the movie, the trailer
is out and I was thinking, is Freddy Prinz Junior
going to be in?

Speaker 1 (12:37):
This?

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Is Jennifer love Hewitt going to be of course they
are take my money right now. It looks I watched
the trailer twice, and I know trailers they take the
best parts of the movie. Whoever put it together just
give them an award. It looks scary. It looks like
it looks like the first one, but maybe it's Freddy
Prince Junior's you know kid in the movie. It just

(13:00):
looks like they did a really good job. The original
came out in ninety seven. It's about a group of
kids that gets stocked by a murderer because the kids
did something really bad during the summer. And you know,
at some point during the movie, the bad guy will say,
I know what you did last summer?

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Gotcha?

Speaker 2 (13:15):
I like when they use movie titles within the dialogue, just.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
A line from the movie to make it the title.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Yeah, exactly right. Now. Are you a fan of The Shining?
The movie? It came out a long time ago, but
many people consider The Shining with Jack Nicholson to be
a top fifty movie of all time.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Didn't see it?

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Okay, it's excellent. It's very scary. The hotel that inspired
the movie, it's a real hotel. It's in Colorado. In
the movie they call it the Overlook Hotel, but in
real life it's the Stanley Hotel. And I know people
that have stayed there and they say, it's a really
good time in Colorado. The Stanley Hotel is getting like
a three hundred million dollar facelift or they're going to

(13:56):
refurbish it. So let me pitch you this. I don't
know if you're going to be recording that day.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
I am would you? Let how about this?

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Let's record from the Stanley Hotel. Why at the grand opening,
because it's where the Shining was.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
You just want to go to where we go on Denver.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
It is somewhat near a Denver The reason why they
are doing the overhaul because if you recall their moving
the Robert Redford Film Festival, Oh Sundance too closer to
where this place is. So they're like, oh, maybe we
can make.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Some dark city to Denver, Boulder or somewhere over there.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Yeah, to Boulder, exactly. That's right. I'm kind of bummed
out right now. Booker knows a lot about a lot
of things, but not knowing the Shining. I don't think
you know. I know what you did last summer.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
I don't watch scary movies. I've told you that. I've
just never been a fan of scary movies, and I
would put both of those in that category. I guess
I know what you did last summer is probably technically
not that scary. Oh okay, well, that's the thing. I
just I don't know. I don't like movies like that.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
I am somewhat with you. But the difference between the
Shining and most scary movies is the Shining is just
an incredible film and script and acting, and there is
some violence in it and some weird stuff in It's
room two thirty seven, which is not available at the hotel.
There is no room two thirty seven there. Lakers looked
awesome last night. They are now tied in that series

(15:15):
with Minnesota one one the Dodgers. In Chicago, the Angels
are home versus the Pirates. La King's Game two. Stanley
Cup Kings are up one nothing versus the Oilers. I'm Striker,
Red rom That's all I got afternoons with book.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
In about twenty minutes. Here on Booker and Striker a
chance to go to the just like having festivals Brookside
at the Rose Bowls Saturday May tenth, Vampire Weekend, Empire,
the Sun Block Party, and more. Hold on for tickets.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
How many of the following tasks can you do very well?
I think depending on your age, you may say I
can't do any of these, But maybe you're of a
different age and you're like Booker and Striker. I can
do all of these without even thinking about it. And
they're like, maybe you're twenty and you're listening. There's some
things that you can do that I probably can't because
I just don't know of them that well. But your

(16:03):
entire life, you've had a computer screen in front of
you and mostly streaming was available. So can you tell
time on a clock with hands? There are there have
been studies done. I swear that I just read. There
is a large percentage of people in their teen years
and younger that can't tell time on a clock with

(16:23):
hands because their entire life they've got the phone or
something and they got the thing the TV right there,
and that's okay, it's weird. How about this? Can you
drive a stick shift?

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Yeah? Me too, drove one here?

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Can DJ regulate drive a stick good question?

Speaker 1 (16:40):
I say yes.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
I say no, I say I say no.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Wow, dju he is a man, okay, like he is
a full grown bearded man. He definitely drives a stick shift.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
No, he doesn't have a stick shift now, But I don't.
I think maybe he's needed a couple of times. No,
I don't. I think if we pulled up a truck
right now.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
I got a jeep downstairs. He couldn't drive around the
block without stalling.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Thing would rock and roll so fast, back and forth,
he would flip over on its own. Our producer, the
Latino Fabio DJ regulated at a long Beach, California.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Clear, yeah, clear, your throw a line right there, booker.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
I appreciate the confidence that you have in me.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
I try. He can do it. I absolutely can. Yeah,
And I owned a vehicle that had stick. Look at him.
He is a grizzled man.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
No one can drive better than me in this room.
That's a fact. Maybe I had a stick for twelve years,
stick shift in two differents. What are we doing? Okay, well,
let me.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Get through this freaking list.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
Do you know how to send mail? Address a letter properly?
And do you know where the stamp goes? There are
plenty of you that can't do it, and that's fine
because you just do email and not that many people
of a certain age can address mail properly.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Do you agree with that? I guess I never thought
of it, But I just wonder what they teach in
school now, And like, you know, what are they teaching
in fourth grade?

Speaker 2 (18:18):
You're on a laptop learning how to a program, and
you're learning how to send email and use proper grammar
and that sort of thing. I have one more here,
what And I am a master at this next one
because one of my first jobs we had a cash register,
but they didn't tell you how much change you had
to give. I had to think of it on the spot.
Can you count correct change? And the answer is a

(18:41):
lot of people of a certain age cannot really because
everything they're paying with is in their phone. They're not
using money, which is again which is okay.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
I used money for the first time this past Monday
somewhere yeah this dancer.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
No no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Hold on, hold on. I want to tell you where
I use the money local. I was at a farmer's
market on Monday in Hollywood on Fountain and I forget
the cross Street and it was near Fairfax and it
was great. It was a minut and I'm like, paid
everything with cash.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
So you don't walk around with a couple of bills
on you.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
No, I do. By the way, if you can predict
how much money is in my wallet right now, within
ten dollars, I'll give it to you.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Well, you still owe me five changed.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
I can't change that thing I was.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Let me see what you got there. Actually, I want
to say, you have listen alligator arms. All of a sudden,
when you owe somebody buddy, alligator arms, he's like, you
can't reach his pockets? I have you have you have?
Thank you? That's one dollar? What are you one of
those kids that can't count four to go? I guess
I get the other four in a couple of months.

(19:47):
You have changed change from what if you have a ten?
I have a five.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
I'll give you two dollar bills in my shoe. Look
all right, what are we going here?

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Shoes?

Speaker 1 (19:57):
All right? I wonder if kids can send a fact
side out it.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
I can't send a fact.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
You can't send a fact. Had to like which side
of the paper you're supposed to go out, and you
got to look for the thing with the print on
the deal. Yeah, it's kind of great.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Point great, And they on the facts they would have
like the lines on the paper and a fake fold
on it. You're like, which way are you does eying
down or up?

Speaker 1 (20:21):
I'm not really sure on this one. I'm still not
really sure on it. Thank god for email.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Okay, anyway, that was fun.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
So about that four dollars. The all new All
