Scottie pippin thirty three. It is Brady one more time.
I'll look back on all things nineties and two thousands,
the movies, and then took the saucer and feted to Geppetto.
That's what I named him, Geppetto. I had no idea
you could milk a cat. Oh yeah, you can milk

(00:21):
anything with nipples. The awkwardness. Just see, you can't sing
the night that cat. I'm so excited. I'm excited.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Cafe is a hell of a drugg here's your host,
Brady bros Ah. Yes, welcome, Welcome, Welcome. I can't wait
to do the same by the Bell episode.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Is that the most like iconic line from a sitcom
from the whole decade the nineties? Yeah, get back to
on that. There's some Seinfeld lines that would be up there.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
It was the most dramatic for us as children watching
her freak the caffeine phils. Yeah, oh, Jesse's span all.
We learned so much from you. And then she stripped
in show. Yeah, before there's Life of a show Girl,
there was show, the original show.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Jesse span On naked. This is it.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
This is the most future future nostalgialistic, the opposite of
We're going back in time, not for it. It's the
most nostalgic stagialistic podcast on the planet. Welcome to Brady
one more time. I am Brady, I'm Dan.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
You're Dan. I do radio things, Dan does kickball. You're
the kickball king.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
I am Contrary to what our group chat says, you
do not attend seconds.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
No, I don't understand how this all began. I went
to one hot tub party, which was there a question? One?
Just a regular I was hoping it was a hot
times was just a regular? Second question? Was it a
sex party? It was not so so we just were
just not aware this. It was bridgid. I don't know
how this started.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
But now it's just every time every text, Yeah where's
Dan and sex party? Okay, well you're not okay now,
but you are is here and we're going to talk
about a really fun one today.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Now we had but hold on before we before we
get into the topic. Uh, something happened since the last
episode we recorded. Okay, it's been a little bit. But
someone had a birthday. Oh yes, a happy birthday. Happy birthday, Rady,
I got you something in classic Uh, Rady. There's birthday

(02:27):
hand full of gifts in there that I like.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Boxing, Yeah, unboxing, were unboxing live on YouTube. We'll see
what you grab first, and you.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Shouldn't have it's a uh to the camera, an LED
lighted magnifier.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Okay, I'm old. Yeah that's what that is. Yeah. I
want to make sure you're able to see things. You
can take that out to restaurants and so like if
you can't see the menu, you just hold it up.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah it's blurry, maybe because of the plastic or maybe
because you're old in your eyes don't work.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah, I've ah, how did you How did you know?
How did you know that an exfoiliating bathroom shower gloves
was on my birth Yeah I knew. I knew. You
had a lot of gloves, but none that were shower safe.
Now you can wear gloves in the shower. You're the best, Dan.
There's more. I just know you're well more. You spend

(03:17):
a lot of time and thought into twinkies. Yeah, twinkies. Okay.
I got actually a quick story about twinkies that fell
appropriate for this.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
When I was when I was in my you know,
chubby little husky husky era, growing up as kids.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
We shopped in the husky section at J C. Penny.
Uh uh.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
You know, kids would bully and they'd make fun of
of said chubbiness.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
And they'd be like, go eat another twinkie.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Right, But little did they know, Oh no, I didn't
eat twinkies. I eat little debbies. So there we go.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
So you brought back a really core bad point. I'm
glad I can childhood. Oh my goodness, I think super Yeah.
I feel like you. I feel like you've just been
using too much regular glue and things have been falling apart.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
This is such a metaphor for I need to get
my life, put my life back together.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Had you carried that on the marathon, you could have
glued yourself back together. There is no helping me.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
And finally, oh Dan, it's it's perfect. It's October. It
is always what I wanted.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
It is a squishy, squeezon SQUI you really is this
all from CBS? I guess yes, yes, you just got
to do because I know that's your favorite story.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah, man, I'm so glad you didn't get me a
CVS gift card because it's my favorite story.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
You know, I needed to choose things that I knew
would speak to you, mark my.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Words before our big chili cook off this weekend. We're
getting together on I'm sad they're gonna miss it, but
you're not gonna be there. No, I've got my nieces
about Mitzva this week. Oh that's right, Okay, Well I
will still put all of these gifts into good use.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Don't put super glue in the chili or on the twinkies,
but the glove the man. Thank you, Dan. Yeah, you're
very welcome out.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
It feels great to be four. You're thirty some age twelve. Yeah,
well that's what we're gonna go back in time too. Yeah,
good transition. Today's topic. We wanted to do one hit Wonders,
but the thing was one hit Wonder, so many, so many.
So I figured out the theme and we can do
different one hit Wonder episodes. This one I wanted to
focus on dance one hit Wonders, and there's still a

(05:23):
ton where you can choose from.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
So let's just like kind of go back and forth. Yeah,
I mean, Dan, I got into dance music at a
very young age. I don't know about you, but I
think the before I was remotely old enough to be
going to a club. I grew up in ann Arbor,
Michigan and ninety three one DRQ, which was like the
CHR the top forty station. They did a ton of

(05:45):
like dance music shows at night, and there was like
some Canadian influence stuff because like growing up there we
were so close to the border.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Cool.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
But I got into I got into dance music at
a really young age. And you'd say you're still like heavy. Yeah,
it's because you do.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
You do like a year and like dance dance, dance
countdown right, Yeah, I've look a look at those.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Similar. Yeah, we had.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
My hometown radio station was KISS ninety five to seven,
which is so cool that I'm actually on it as
an adult in Hertford, Connecticut. And weekends it was class.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
I'm flying by the way tomorrow, oh.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Bad l Yeah, club Kiss yep, same thing. It was
live from a club, but like live live, not like
we fake live now.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Like they would they talk to people on the dance.
It sounded so cool as a kid, didn't it. You're like,
oh my god, this is awesome. So yes, so similar.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
I was always into the dance and plus my mom
was a young mom, so she was like still kind
of going out every once in a while. When you know,
Joeann the babysitter came over, mom was going to dance clubs.
Did you ever hear her when you listen to the
club show, Like.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Oh my god, that's my mommy, we have Tammy here.
I hate being a mom. This is my one to
be free. Yes, so so similar to you.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
I mean also, there was I remember there was a
lot of like cool syndicated shows on the weekends on
the radio growing up, and there was like a UK
dance show randomly. Yeah, I don't remember who hosted it
or what it was called, but I just remember hearing
songs that you wouldn't hear in regular rotation. And it's
really well actually some of the songs you would hear

(07:17):
like a year later because over in the UK and
in Europe, the dance scene they would they would play
the dance songs first and then they would cross over
for the most part.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Yep so And my first yeah, live on air radio
gig in Madison was Saturday nights. I think I started
at one or two am and the first hour of
my show was the last hour of our like you know,
dance show. That was a syndicated thing. But you had
these CDs that were in carts and it would tell you,

(07:48):
you know, it'd be like a sixty minute track with
a couple commercial breaks in there, and it would tell you, like,
you have a talk break from like the twelve thirty
four mark to the twelve fifty six mark, and you'd like,
literally watch the timer on the CD that was just
spinning and you know, yep, yep, so much fun.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
And before we get into our list, unpopular opinion, Uh,
I think dancing in general is overrated.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
That's what the hell do you like dancing? Yeah? I
mean I look I'm terrible at it and I look
like you do, but I enjoy it.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Do you say to yourself dancing is an actual you
say to yourself? These words have come out of your mouth.
You say, I want to go dancing tonight. Have you
said those Yeah?

Speaker 1 (08:33):
You have. I mean usually a couple drinks in when
you're like clothes, you know, at a bar at like
one am, everybody's just standing around. I want to go
to a barrow weekend dance.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
I think guys just go to dance because it could
end up meaning grinding, and then that could end up
meaning something else sex parties.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Did you watch and grinding? That was a great one,
But no, you.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Always for me anyways, I always fell into it, and
you know, you make you make yourself look like an
idiot because you're not, like, we're not professional. And it's fun,
but it's not something like I like seek out to
go do. It's not something weddings like oh here we
go in that green do that and you celebrate. At times,
I just feel like, I don't know, not awkward, but

(09:17):
I just feel like it's it's something that's that's forced
upon you, you know what I mean. It's not an
activity like you just want to go do it. And
that's just nobody makes to popular.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Opinion, nobody's shoving you onto the dance flop maybe I mean,
maybe yeah they are. It's always like come on and
it's like, okay, we go and then you do like
the stupid things and then I do that. This is
my move right here. I love it. I love it.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
So anyways, there we go, let's get into dance songs status.
That's exactly the worst take I think in the history
of this podcast.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Oh hold on, one more thing.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Speaking of worst takes, one of my one of your
least favorite of my takes was are the conversation about
the nerd gummies. Let me tell you, at least three
signs for nerd gummies during the marathon. Really like people
holding up signs like you're you're doing this for the gummies,
for nerd for nerd gummies.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yeah, I was like, Dan would like that, soign It
probably didn't motivate you very much.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
It's still it reversed me. That's the reason why I died. Okay,
I'm gonna jump in Hadaway. What is Love? Literally the
first one on my list. It has to be right, Hadaway,
What Is Love? It was, well, we can't play the
songs that sucks. We can we can sing five seconds
of them. Obviously, big pop culture song SNL, YEP, the
Will Farrell, Chris Catan, Jim.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Oh, I was every whoever. The host was so like
Jim Carrey, what Carrie was?

Speaker 2 (10:35):
I thought he was in He wasn't in all of them, No,
I think it was. I think they rotated the host.
But anyways, what is Love? Hadaway one wonder never had
another song. Ye huge dance. It probably one of the
biggest dance. It's a and you still hear it. Sam
was sampled by Ghetto a year or two ago. You
hear it sampled all the time.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Yep, yep. So I'm gonna go there, what do you got,
Let's go back. I'm gonna go with what I would have.
I think has got to be one of, if not
the most sampled and re used dance song maybe of
all time. Robin s Show Me Love? Oh so wait?
Did she had?

Speaker 2 (11:06):
So?

Speaker 1 (11:08):
The one hit wonder criteria is all I'll give you.
I'll give you that. I will say there are several
on my lists that come with an astis because they
had like what you and I, as radio geeks, would
recognize as like some other minor hits. But I would
say to the general public, like ninety nine plus percent
of people could not name or recognize another Robin. Yeah,
we'll call her one hit wonder. But that was that

(11:29):
was such a bit. It still is. If that song
got released today, the original, yeah it'd be a hit. Yeah,
I'm good, timeless, and it's been sampled literally thousands of times.
You hear you still hear the original and remixes everywhere
you go. I'm going you might not know.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
I might not know one or two on my list okay, actually, no,
I have faith in you, culture Beat, mister Vane.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Oh yeah, okay, of course, mister Raider calm and mister
wrong call him insane, insane, insane. I know what I want,
and I want it now. I want you because okay, anyway.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Great, great, I'm gonna go culture beat, mister Vain. People
are not understanding what we're singing because that's obscure. I
think that's obscure.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
No, it was a big hit. I don't feel like popular.
That's that's how you didn't make it to the top ten.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Was it.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
One? We can fact check this for you. One way
to find out, is it culture club? Culture beat? Culture
beat Beat, mister Vain? All right, stand by, we do
live fact not culture club. That's karma. Mister Vane peaked
at number ten on January seventh, nineteen ninety four. It
was a hit. Yeah, that is a big hit. All right,
that's second one. I'm gonna go that, okay, Uh, I'm

(12:46):
gonna go. Twenty Fingers featuring Gillette Short dish Man, short Man,
don't want to short, don't want no short. It was cold.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
The water was cold. Okay, the water was cold. Why
you gotta make a song about it. Uh yeah, also
a very uncomfortable song to uh sing as men.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Yeah, I was. I was twelve when that came out,
short peepy man. Uh yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Though, what was good about that song, Dan, What I
really enjoyed was the lyrics weren't too deep.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
You understand what it wasn't think you you really understand
what she didn't want. It wasn't a thinker or a grower.
It was not neither of those things. Poor God.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Imagine imagine being that guy who Taylor. One of the
songs Tailor's written about is the short dick man guy.
He exists somewhere.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Yeah, he's out there. He knows that song was written
about him. What would be the what would be the uh?
What would be the male counter version of that? Don't want,
don't want, don't want? No? Uh?

Speaker 2 (13:56):
There's would would you if you were sitting down, go
back to your songwriting days, Dan, if you were to sit.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Down, answer this, Yes, it's it's gonna be involved the
words dry or loose. Can't believe mess in this, which
is worse. My god, Mom turned this off right now.

(14:23):
I think I think you gotta go loose.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
I think loose is the best it's more of an
opposite of shorts than driest.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
We're off the rails. Yeah, don't want, no wan no want.
One of those problems is more solvable than the others,
than the.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Other be one of the one would Okay, you know what,
We're gonna move on. Great, great, great pick. You did
this to yourself.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
It's just in Brady. One more time has been canceled.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
Nikki French Total Eclipse of the Heart. That's a hidden jam, right,
that's a great one. A remake from the eighties song
by Bonnie Tyler yep Tyler Tyrn. Yeah. So by the
time I had totally clip to the Heart, it was
a kind of like a like a rock ballad. Yeah,
and then all of a sudden, Mickey French did put

(15:12):
a little slap, a little beat on it. I don't
know who the producer was, but that song did slap.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
It was slapped. A big hit.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Heated a number three, Yeah, big ninety mid nineties. I
was gonna say, okay, so that's one.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
What do you got? I'm gonna go with one of
my all time favorites. It has no words, but it
has a hell of a beat and a hell of
a piano part Robert Miles Children. That's Robert Miles Children.

(15:44):
Did not have that on my Bingo car. That's a
good one. Probably the only instrumental too, The only one
I can think is that. Then again, he had a
minor follow up to that, but everybody.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Knows him for I don't know Mount Rushmore of instrumentals,
what do you got? I mean you gotta Itsn's Symphony
Motart and then Robert my Okay, yeah, we'll have to
come up with that list. Oh what about the the

(16:16):
the Utube version of the Mission Impossible song?

Speaker 1 (16:19):
So bad? And but why no Bono's singing because there's
no words. Yeah, it's bizarre. Okay, I'm sticking in the
nineties for now, right, not just nineties. So I figure
we do like one, two, three? Do you like five each? Okay?
I got, I got you just tell me when to stop.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
I've got plenty the name of the artist and also
a very tasty beverage when you're on the beach pop
a Lime and that bad boy Corona.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
Oh yeah, this is the rhythm of the night. No,
not to can be confused with Karina Karina Karina had
Karina did have a song different artists. Yeah, also that
would also be like a one hit. Wondered why am
I blinking out on the Korena? But the corona of
them to Night Kernda was temptation. Temptation is a pot

(17:05):
of it. It is wrong.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Oh, you just unlocked something that was like early nineties
Uh Corona Rhythm Night also sampled later by.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Black Eyed Peas Rhythm. That was a gam That's a
great pick. I'd like to listen to that song right now,
but we can't because we'll get cancels. This is another
asterisk because they did have a couple of minor pop hits,
but I'm gonna go real McCoy night, I can't allow it.
Come and get your lost? Yeah yeah, and uh run Away,

(17:38):
run Away, Yeah no, that was three fine. Then we'll
replace it with Alice DJ better Off. That is a
definite one hit.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Wonder Clap a good one because yes that was Oh man,
that that one takes me back to a certain time
of my life, getting ready to go out, getting ready
to go out, scan and Hall. That song was blasting
from not a sound system. Better Off alone good one
and Alice DJ.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Her name yep, Oh, she was great that song. I'm
gonna have to play some of the songs on my
on my radio show for the three thirty throwback. They're all,
I mean, there's your playlist. We just you're welcome. We
just helped save you.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
I've got another one from that turned into a pop
culture SNL skit.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Oh everything but the girl, uh missing? And what was
the SNL sketch for that?

Speaker 2 (18:29):
That was Chris Catan as mister Peepers with the apple?
Was it mister peepers, mister peeper It was definitely Chris Catan,
And I think he was dance he was dancing provocatively.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Was it mister Peepers? The monkey guy? It's mango mango,
That's what it is.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Different from mister Peepers the eighth the apple. Mango was
the crop to shirt such as mango like that.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
Yeah, so there you go. Everything but the girl that
was true. That was true. That was a true one
hit one. Oh yeah, yeah, I don't think anything, so
that would be one two three. That's fot for me.
All right, Yeah, I'll give you, uh, I'll give you
one more. Yeah, let's hear it. Uh, well, i'll give
you one more in an honorable mention. You might technically
if I don't think this one deserves to be asterisk.

(19:18):
But again, you know these you have a monster hit
and then some second single like sneaks into the top
forty for a couple of weeks. So but Eifel sixty
five Blue, they had a second hit they did, Oh yeah,
what was it? First of all Blue dab dabo dah, Yeah,
the most the most was Blue d Dabo dah. The
most ridiculous lyrics of the nineties, or was Cotton Eyed Joe.

(19:40):
I think Blue was more ridiculous, Like the whole song
was just about I have a blue house with a
blue window everything. So yeah, move your body, move your bonny.
Every everybody peaked at number thirty three, number three, I
know Nina Sky Oh yeah. Also one hit wonderful and
I'll give you an honorable mention from nineteen ninety four

(20:00):
on Blue Okay, I sampled later Yes, also by David
Yet David Gett. It sampled like half the songs we mentioned.
It used to be it used to be. Well, it
works for him. My honorable mention from nineteen ninety four,
Real to Real. I like to move it, to move it,
move it, Yeah, I like to move it. That's a

(20:22):
good one. Yeah, that's yeah, definitely danced dance.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
My honorable mention was, yeah, I was gonna put real
McCoy uh as like one that should be okay.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
All right, so you gave me crap about it even
though you hadn't listed too. I was gonna save them
and La bo Yeah are two artists. You can't put
it right La Boushe definitely. I mean Sweet Dreams, I
feel like was as big as my lover. Yeah, but
they were great, son, How did I feel so good?
Feel so good? And that's what takes me. Hi, people

(20:57):
are really really gonna wish that we sang on it
every episode. I wanted to also give it because I
know we settled on nineties. I want to give a
quick shout out to the year two thousand because I
feel like that was you you started to see way
more that. I feel like nineties, like every year had
like one or two random dance tracks, and then I

(21:19):
feel like two thousand was the beginning of the transition
of this stuff being really mainstream more than just like
your random one off. So you had two thousand, year
two thousand, you had de rude sandstorm.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Oh that's the biggest. That's the biggest dance all right, right,
nothing argue. That's in every soccer stadium. It's yeah, it's worldwide.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Okay. You had and we're just talking one hit Wonders.
There were a million others. This is all just one
hit wonders. Just dance. Just year two thousand you had
Ian vandall Castles in the sky so good. Yeah, you
had Gigi de Augustino. I'm going to butcher the you
know lot more towards you. The all fly with you.
I know it, I know, I'm just I'm not picking
it up. And you had a bunch of you had

(21:58):
a bunch of other like artists that took off that
weren't one hit wonders any year two thousand. OK, let's
go dancing tonight. I thought you didn't want to know.
You can bring your light up orange squeezeable pumpkin and
bring all my gifts and your magnifying Yes, how do
we do?

Speaker 2 (22:14):
How is our list? Is dancing overrated? How did Dan
do with my gifts? Let us know in the comments
the things next week we're gonna be talking about. It's
gonna be a fun deep dive. Jerry Springer, I'm ready,
Jerry freaking Springer that's next time. But you know, share,
like follow, what's the other one? Subscribe, rate, review, subscribe, subscribe.

(22:35):
Whatever you can do, do it.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
Tell a friend, tell a friend to tell a friend,
make a poster, bring it to your neighborhood store. That's
old school. Yeah, we'll talk to you next time, Brady.
