Speaker 1 (00:00):
Lucky number thirteen. This is Brady one More Time. I'll
look back on all things nineties and two thousands, the movies.
First Club is you do not talk about fight Club?
The music and the Grammy goals to Clox call play
the awkwardness. I Love you Love Me. Here's your host,

(00:26):
Brady Broski. Yes, why is that awkward? Love is awkward
to you?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Because I was too old for Barney, I say, but
I still sang the song.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
We're not that far apart of age that I was
not also too old? I do you have? I do you?
Baby bop?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to the most nostalgic podcast on all
the Internet and all the places including India.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Yes to a huge huge in India. Who India?

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Welcome to the Brady One More Time Podcast. We're gonna
hop in our little time machine. Here go back in time.
I'm too this week the two thousands. I am your
legendary host. Some call me the goat of radio, the
very humble Brady Broski.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
You're supposed to pause their legend wait for it.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
To dairy and with me once again, the kickball King,
a man who knows pop charts, possibly more than me.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
I think I might have you beat. It's gonna beat.
It would be an epic competition. We're gonna we're.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Gonna have to have that not on not on here,
because that would really bore people.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
That's like me and you like, if we ever want
to tank our audience, that's the way.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
And a guy who clearly came dressed up for the
fashion showed last week? Were your gray Hanes vnack today?

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Its like a like a blue, It's like a blue, yeah,
blue green. But so yeah, I don't know if you
or anyone else has this problem. But when I wear
long sleeves to work for some reason, the way I
like move the mouse or something, I always rip holes
in the elbows. So I will never see me at
the office in long sleeves because I just have destroyed

(02:05):
so many nice articles of clothing. So I have my
limited rotation of short sleeve te's and polos and button downs,
and that's all you see me.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
I don't think, oh boy, I'm popular. I'm disagreeing with
you on this, okay. I just I just think you're
showing off your guns. You are showing off your guns
as a matter of fact on YouTube, as a matter
of fact, Dan, I'm gonna call you uh dingy Dan

(02:33):
Ginsburg tonight.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Okay, interesting there you have a nickname with uh with
some people called uh tank top Dan.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
That's interesting. I have the top day. These people have
been calling it, calling me that behind my back because
this is news to me. But it's uh, it's it's accurate.
In the summer, yeah, in the summer. I mean, I
just don't. I don't think you like you don't like
long stun, I don't like sleeves. To be clear, I'm
not wearing tank top at the office. Not that radio
is is anywhere any anything remotely formal, but there's not

(03:06):
I'm not wearing tank tops around you.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Okay, So today we're talking about we're talking about fashion. No,
we are not talking about We're gonna have to wait
till next week. And the reason why we had to
push fashion this ye because it's great. Grammys are coming up. Yeah,
Grammys are this someday. Me and you love the Grammys.
We have placed a Grammy bet for how many years?

Speaker 1 (03:23):
This was our tenth annual Grammy bet, always written on
little cocktail napkins.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Because we're usually at a bar and we make them
so that's that's there's nowhere else to write. Yep.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
So sometimes it's you and me, sometimes it's another friend
or two. I think we had like seven eight of
us this year. Know you needed an extra napkins.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
You were feverishly writing down on the By the way,
your little penmanship on the small little bed nap has
gone great over there.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yes, it's been a work in progress. So we make
our Grammy pics every year. The loser has to buy
the winter Lunch, which has never happened in the history
of the ten year bet. So it's not really a bet.
It's bragging. It's bragging rice.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
But anyways, the point is the Grammys are always fun
time of year, especially to music nerds like ourselves, and
we decided to take this episode of the podcast and
talk about obviously we're here to talk about the nineties
and two thousand's on the Brity One More Time podcast,
talk about all of the best New Artist winners of
the Grammys from the first decade of the century, so

(04:19):
the two thousands. So we're starting at two thousand, and
we're gonna go to two thousand and nine, and we're
gonna go over each year by year, the Grammy winner
for Best New Artist.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
And I love this category for this topic because I
think it's fascinating to look at who were the ones
who were obvious winners, who went on to like amazing
career heights, right, and who are the ones who, with
the benefit of hindsight, you're like, uh, they won Best
New Artists. I don't know who that is.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
There's a few of those, especially some of the nominees
when I went back and looked. So we turned it
into a game. I will be giving Dan the nominees
for the even years two thousand and two.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Two, that's four.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Dan will be giving me the odd year, and you're
gonna we're gonna give each other the nominiza with the guests.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Yes, we have not looked at who won from the
years that we're guessing, right.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
I think we're gonna do good at this. And by
the way, when you're listening right now, play along. We'd
love to know your score, like ten out of ten
or three out of ten. So so that's kind of
the game we came up with to cover this topic.
I think it's gonna be fun and we're just gonna
I'm just.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Gonna jump into it. Let's do it. So I'm guessing first,
yess and first.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
So the year two thousand, the first year of the century.
Best New Artist nominees are Macy Gray, Oh wow, Kid Rock,
Britney Spears.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
I'm surprised she got nominated, Christina Aguilera. I'm less surprised
she got nominated. Susan Todeci, Oh god, huge fan? Did
I say that right? I've never heard of her?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Okay, I'm so sorry, Susan. If you're listening, I apologize
if I butchered your name. You're obviously a great musician,
but we don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
We've never butchered a name on this podcast before. That
would be the first new Drinking was one of the
Disney characters. I got so much crap from a couple
of friends of mine for mispronouncing it. I'm the last
one anyway. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Also, back to fact checking real quick. I believe we
said in The American Tale was a Disney movie.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
And it's not. It's not there. You go, Yeah, all right,
Best New Artist? So truth doesn't matter anymore. It's twenty
twenty five. Yeah, we don't. We don't fact check it anymore,
you know.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Macy Gray, Kid Rock, Britney spears, Christina aguilar and uh
Aguilera and Susan to Dutch SiZ.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
I'm between two. I will be shocked if it's Brittany.
I don't think it's Brittany.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
And you're listening. Think about it, and you're listening right now,
Let's see what you're guessing.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, because you know you try. I'm trying to put
my mind in like you know, the Grammy Committee, they're
looking for, like you know, critical acclaim and talent.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
So I'm over commercial right, over commercial success right. They
are more about the art of music.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
So I'm between Macy Gray and Christina Aguilera. I feel
like Christina was always way more like acclaimed for her
voice than Brittany. Yeah, but I think I'm gonna go
Macy Gray. Macy Gray. H Macy Gray. Do it we
have a drum roll? Oh no, Macy Gray is incorrect. Okay,

(07:11):
it was a Christina.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
It was Christina it Now this is amazing to me.
I didn't I don't recall this Grammy at all. I
believe this is right. I mean, we're all arguing with
our friends Christina or Brittany at the time, and here
we are at the Grammys and the Best New Artist
is one of the biggest awards of the night. They're
actually going against each other. I did not know that

(07:34):
it happened. Yeah, so that's pretty cool that Christina Aguilera
won the two thousand Best New Artists at the Grammys.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Doesn't surprise Brittany wasn't ninety.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Nine right, because baby one More Time would have came. Well,
you know how that works with the best New artists.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
There's so many rules when they hit there's cutoffs, or
you can wait. You can wait to nominate yourself. You
can wait like Lukas Sabrina. No, I'm waiting to nominate
myself for Best New Artists until this field is too
tough this year, So I'm waiting. You should wait till
next year or the year. Yeah, or what do you
think Christiana Agueles, she deserved it. I mean she had

(08:10):
a hell of a voice. I mean, again the debate,
the Brittany Christina debate. I think the one category Christina
always won handily was voice. Right. I don't think anyone
ever claimed Brittany, for all her other talents, was you know,
had the voice of our generation totally.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
I mean that's an easy that's an easy win for Christina,
if you're going voice versus voice, but if you look
at the overall pop culture.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Presence and right, we can get into that in another podcast.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Another episode. But but yeah, Christiana, I.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Agree, that's interesting. I agree. I still Masy Gray though.
I think I could her winning. She must have won
a Grammy or two because I try. Was Yep, that
was huge. I tried. It was huge by Masy Gray.
Kid Rock, yeah, I can't pick him out of Prince
and one. Also, not that that's such a big fan
right now, but back then I was a huge I

(08:58):
was a huge Kid Rock fan.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
He was like a different person. Anyways, So there we go.
Here was that's the year two thousand, Dan, here we go.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Are you ready? We have a very nice range of
artists for two thousand and one, and the nominees are
all right. I opened my envelope. Shelby Lynn, okay, Brad Paisley,
Papa Roach, Jill Scott, and Cisco as a solo artist. Okay.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
This two thousand and one Grammy nominees are all over
the place. They must have been high the committee when
they came up with some of these. Cisco had arguably
one of the most powerful and meaningful songs of all
time with thong songs.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Yeah, it changed my life time incomplete. Also, what group
was he from? By the way, That was Drew Hill,
got it? Ah, Drew Hill had some classics from the nineties.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Okay, Cisco, Brad Paisley, popa Roach, I can't I can't
say Papa Roach without laughing for some reason.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Were the other ones? Uh, Shelby Lynn, Lynn, Brad Paisley, Scott.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Jill Scott Roach Okay, okay, uh oh, this.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Is tougher than I thought.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
I'm gonna guess because we've been back to your point
about we're going uh critically acclaimed versus commercial.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
I'm gonna say. I'm gonna say, Jill Scott, Jill Scott
is I don't have access to your buttons. That's what
can you give me? The the buzzer you could say,
you could say, I'll head it right wrong. The winner
was Shelby Lynn. Love Shelby Lynn huge fan name like
Name like that great song she remember. Her album Shelby

(10:48):
Lynn called I Am Shelby Lynn and their first single
was We're Gonna Love You Till the Day We Die
and the other classic I'm Shelby Lynn sing a bar
for me. I'm sure we won't get in trouble for
copyright s? Is that amazing grace she Gotay, so Shelby

(11:14):
Lynn one, she'll be little country singer. I don't even know.
I don't think so, because well, I wasn't following country
yet in those days. I kind of follow it. Now
I don't reckon. I don't want to look it up.
We'll find out later. Okay, So over the two, the
one name I didn't know is the one who won.
All right, this is great? Two thousand two. Where will
any of us get any of these? I think you're
gonna get this one?

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Two thousand and two Best New Artist nomination because uh India, Ari?
Oh yeah, India, Ari Nelly for Tato.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
This is already Alisha Keys Okay, okay, David Gray wow
in Lincoln Freakin' Park.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
This is this is as opposed to two thousand and one.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
They redeem themselves with.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Yeah right, so Indi, Ari Nelly for Tato, Leasa Keys,
David Great Lincoln Park.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
I should have made my Best New Artist nomination in
a one. I'm I so I could see it being Indi.
She also very critically acclaimed beautiful voice amazing songs. I
feel like Alicia Keys just blew up and was so massive,

(12:21):
was like popular and like hailed by critics at the
same time. I gotta go Alicia Keys. Keys, Alicia Keys
is your guest. Oh weh okay you on? That means correct?
That was the very high, high pitched thing. But I'll
take it a low budget over. Yeah, we don't have
a podcast budget yet for sound effects. Yeah, Alicia Keys

(12:43):
two thousand and two Grammy winner, yet her two thousand
and one year was like a monstrae, just a one
song of the year for Falling that year. Yeah. What's
interesting about Lisia Keys is when she came onto the
scene as the best she was a new artist.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Fallen was her first single that went It went to
number one. It felt like she'd been there for a while.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
She Yeah, I could see that she felt more like
a veteran to the industry, not like a newcomer.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
She wasn't thinking singing about thongs. No, No, she's very talented.
It is very talented. But looking back, I say they
made the right decision on Alicia Keys.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
I mean, can't argue that. David Gray, Now, Lincoln Park's amazing.
Who would you say, between Shelby Lynn and Alicia Keys
had the more longevity in their careers.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
A tough one, you know, because I am Shelby Lynn.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Just triple quadruple platinum.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
It's a front to back album. You just listen. Just okay,
there we go, all right, ready for three, let's go.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
The nominees are Ashanti, Michelle Branch, Nora Jones, Avril Levigne.
You could stop, you could stop it. It's Nora Jones.
I don't even want to know. The fifth is it
Ora Jones? Well, the fifth is John Mayer. Oh damn,
I'm sticking with it. You are correct, it's Nora Jones.
I mean that again, O two oh three? What a lineup?

(14:05):
One more time? Ashanti, Michelle Branch, great, Nora Jones, Gavril Levigne. Yes,
John Mayer.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
I mean I would, I would make the argument of
all of those artists. I mean, John Mayer is probably
the most if you if you base things on money,
and who makes sure makes the most, John Mayer's probably
the most successful. Norah Jones and he won Grammys. He did,
he's still winning him A shanty's fun.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
He's great. She's still doing her thing from time to time.
She had a one. Yep, she had a run for
those duets with yep. Yeah, so that's a great that's
a great little list.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
So I think, yeah, I think, I think if we
could go back, I would say John Mayer would probably
be my pick.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
I would agree with that, but I also would agree, Yeah,
Nora Jones in the moment makes sense.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
And from what I recall, it may have been this
Grammys or another one. Nora Jones had a huge year.
I believe it might have been that year. Cool, let's
see we are jumping to or okay, Best New Artists
one of two Okay, Best New Artist nominees.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Here we go, Evan Essence, Oh wow, fitt decent.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
I said that properly Fountains of Wayne, We're not for
one song.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Does Stacy's mom still have it going on as well?
She does, think so, and it's been wait what are
we on for twenty years later? Yeah, So let's say
Stacy's let's say Stacy Stacy's mom had Stacy that year.
Stacey's probably gotta be twenty one now, state No, I
think Stacey was probably in Middle Street. Sure, right, so
she's she's like, all right.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
So Stacy's mom, Uh, she's probably in her well into.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Her fifty Yeah, maybe even sixty, maybe even sixties. Uh,
Heather Headley, no idea, love me some, Heather. Sorry, Heather Heley,
if you're listening, Sean Paul, Okay, you ready. I don't
see Sean Paul is winning, but hell of a career.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Yeah wait so who Evan Essence, Descent Fountains of Wayne
Heather he Lee, Sean Paul, Wow.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Yeah, oh man, I'm between Evan Essence and fifty cent.
I'm I think I'm gonna go fifty. Yeah, that's I've
been down to the final two. One man, he had Banger.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Yeah, you're not just on Get Get Richard Die trying,
but like for the next three albums.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
And he had a bunch of collabs with Anyone, Magic Stick, Ok.
Yeah that's dirty Dirty song. Yeah yeah, Rivals, the New
Dirty Song, The Candy Show, Oh the Red Candy Shot.
Remember Candy Show? Yeah, of course, man, fifty should have one.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
He got robbed. I do love Evanescence, though I had
that first c.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Bring Me to Life. My Immortal. My Immortal was my jam.
They were kind of Lincoln Park Light. Yeah. They were
like a hybrid between them and like something more melodic
and chill.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Yeah, very emo, very reminiscent of the time. Okay, cool,
So you're ready for five?

Speaker 1 (17:03):
I'm ready. We're halfway through Lost Lonely Boys, remember Heaven,
they like.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Like in the business already for like twenty years.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
That's a joke, right, No, they they I mean it's
not a joke. They were nominated. Maybe someone was playing
a prank when they nominated them, but it worked. Maroon five,
I've heard of them slightly uh more more stable career
for that. Josh Stone still around doing stuff. Kanye West, Yeah, yep,

(17:37):
he's big. He exploded. Yeah. Gretchen Wilson, big country act.
Really that was fine? That was five. What was her
big one?

Speaker 2 (17:45):
It was?

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Oh man, I don't remember her early, No, that was
that would have been. It was another like female empowerment,
Redneck woman. Oh right, it's a great one carrypowerment in
its own way.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
I guess Redneck Woman is very much two steps forward
for the women's movement.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
I agree, Yeah, I may not have labeled that, you know.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
I actually I kind of want to go Gretchen Wilson,
but I'm not going to.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Okay one more time, can you love Lonely Boys? No?
Maroon five. No, but should justin probably Kanye West. Gretchen Wilson. Oh,
I could pick three. You know, I'm gonna I'm gonna stick.
I'm gonna stick with like they tell you when you
take you go with your gut. I'm going Gretchen Wilson. Okay, Yeah,

(18:41):
that's interesting. Yeah, that is wrong. Oops, we'll fix that
in post. Okay, it wasn't Gretchen Wilson. I would have
guessed Kanye Kanye because that was before the controversy. But
I would have been wrong too. It was actually Maroon five.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
I don't know why I would have thought I would
not have been one. Yeah, they were. They started alternative. Yeah, yeah,
and it was like Sunday Morning was on that first album,
right it was? And this love Harder to Breathe. Yeah,
that was the first single. They had a lot. Yeh.
Didn't we have a Maroon five off one day? We did?
On the way we have offs with various artists. We've

(19:18):
had Mariah carry off, a Paula duel off Michelle branch off.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Doesn't sound good when you say it now out loud
a microphone. Uh No, Maroon five is are great. That's
a great Grammy for Best Best. I wouldn't change anything.
That's great. Ye, there you go six, Here we go
Best New Artists. We're gonna go fall Out Boy.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Okay, wow, Chicago, Keen, oh wow, Okay, somewhere only we know.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Sugar Land, John Legend, h or Sierra Okay. Yeah, I
mean I'm looking at it other than Keen, although they
were kind of they were kind of like cool and
you know, there were you artist's favorite artists at the time.
I can you could make a case.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
For all of these. Who was the first one?

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Uh, Fallout Boys, That's right, Keen, sugar Land, John Legend.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
I'm gonna tell you my talk too, because it seems
like my number two keeps winning with my My second
choice would be Fallout Boy, but I think I've got
to go with John Legend.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
You're going John Legend? Yeah, come on, yes, back on
the board, baby.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Another Alicia Keys esque in terms of like blowing up
and having the critical acclaim. At the same time, they
were like a pop culture fixture.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
How about his career? Like lately he's on the voice.
Everybody knows John Legend.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
Everybody loves him too, Everybody nobody dislike if you like,
if you dislike John Legend, something's wrong with you? Just cool.
He's got that cool factor.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Although I would say, looking back, you can, you could
definitely make a case for fall You could. You absolutely could.
I mean, I mean they're killing it to this day.
They were probably I know we're Chicago biased here. They're
probably the biggest band hits wise of the two thousands. Yeah,
and I mean they go back. Yeah, No, I shouldn't laugh.
I mean they obviously legitmate their moment back.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Yeah. But Fall Boy kept doing it yep, even in
the in the twenty ten yep. And they came on
like right in the peak of Like Rocks kind of
late two thousands. Little Resurgence Sugar Were Going Down was
their debut song, crossed Over to Pop, also on My
Mount rushmore of songs, I sing that I don't know
the words too to the stat just got the no,

(21:23):
I actually do know that line, but I'm with you
on the rest of the lyrics. All right seven, you're right, yeah,
he thank you, All right, Look, I got my second.
All right, here we go. You gotta needed this one
to keep even. The nominees for two thousand and seven
Best New Artists are James Blunt Yeah, Pewtif Chris Brown,

(21:45):
Emogen Heap, I'm sorry, come again, Emogen Heap, that was
that was what you say? What you said, not the
one that sampled, Yeah, Emogen, Emogen Heap, Yep, Krinne Bailey Ray,
and Carrie Underwood. Wow. Yeah, you threw that one at

(22:06):
the end there. Looking back now, I guess would be
the first American Idol contestant who was nominated from the
New Artist I am.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
I want to go Carrie Underwood because she's probably that
of all those artists, the most successful to come out
of that group. But I'm putting myself back in seven
and I am going to say, Carinne Bailey Ray, Bailey Ray.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Yes, put your records on. Yes, great song.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
It's very Grammy like they laylight that kind of sound.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
But you are wrong. I'm wrong. You should have gone
with your gun. Carrie Underwood. Yeah, Carrie Underwood one. Damn.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
I think that. I think they got most of these
right the Grammys.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
It's hard to argue too many of these really. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Carrie Underwood amazing before he cheats, one of the biggest
crossover country songs ever. She's the reason most guys watch
Sunday Night Football, not because of the actual game, because
of her.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
So, yeah, that's a great that's a great pick. Okay,
that was it. You didn't didn't want to go with
emogin heap.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
I've never I didn't know. I thought it was a
Jason Derulo song the whole time. Two thousand and eight.
This is my last one for you to guess.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
Here. If I get there's like a shootout. If I
get this one, you you clinch. Oh if I fail,
you have a chance to tie, because how many do
I have run? You have one? I have two? No,
I have two? What would your Oh wait do you Yeah,
we're we're tied two to two. I thought no, you
have got one of Nora Jones. That's it. You didn't
get Shelby Lynn, you didn't get Maroon five, you didn't
get Carried Underwood. You're right. Stop trying to steal.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
A point, okay, okay, oh eight, So basically you need
to lose.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Luckily it's not recorded, so I have no way of
proving this. You're gonna get this. I know you're gonna
get this. Here we go.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Best New Artist two thousand and eight. You got feist,
don't even Yeah, that's my choice F E I S
T fight you've got let us let us see L
E D I S I not a clue.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
Let us see like, let us see like when you
have a sandwich. Let us too much, let us anymore, Like,
let us see what do want Christmas?

Speaker 2 (24:11):
Let's see you've got Paramore.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
Okay, the first, the first legit one.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
Then you've got Amy Winehouse Okay, okay, yep, and.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Then you have Taylor Swift. Oh boy, oh boy, I
mean it's not it can't be Paramore with that. It's
funny that you've got two artists who perform with each
other all around the world. That's in twenty twenty four.
You saw that minated. I did Paramore open. When I
saw Taylor and Milan Paramore opened, Man was fantastic. By
the way. See, I'm trying to think about what opinions

(24:46):
were about Taylor Swift during her debut era. Yeah, we're
talking baby Taylor too, baby right? Wait, who was in
between Paramore and Taylor? Let us see, no, no, no,
who is the fourth one? Feist? No, let us see Paramour,
Amy Wine Amy Winehouse right right right, yeah, it's blinking

(25:08):
out for a second. That that's see, it's hard because
Taylor Swift pretty critically acclaimed now million Grammy wins. I
don't know if she was back then. Amy Winehouse very
critically acclaimed. Now I feel like a lot of that
came after her death, though fair so still alive. At

(25:30):
this point, I have to go Taylor Swift, Taylor, it
was damn it.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
It was actually leta se La d c oh Man,
we're gonna get killed by the fans. Yeah, there's not
a lot in India.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Make sure you tag put you put a ladis as
a keyword when you upload this.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Oh man, we're gonna have to go study something.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
I should have got my gut you just like you
last round. I didn't listen to my guts, my gut
as soon as you said Amy wine House, some le
like it's her and then you hear Taylor and Amy
Winehouse would have been a huge, huge deal. She already is,
but she would have been monstrous, had you know her
life been tragically cut so short. So but Taylor, like
I said, baby Taylor, I don't think she was even
close to like, No, you're right right, she did, but

(26:16):
she did blow up. She did in the country scene, yes,
right away, tear drops on my Guitar. Tim McGrath came
first and teardrops on my Guitar Story right around there.
That was the next album. But soon yeah, I mean
she blew up pretty quickly. Yeah, okay, so here we go.
This is it, this is my all right, time to
tie it up? I think, well, I don't know all
right now. In two thousand and nine, the last year

(26:37):
of the decade adele uh huh, duffy uh huh. The
Jonas Brothers, Yes, the group at the time known as
Lady Annabellam now known as Lady A and Jasmine Sullivan
my all time favorite. Ow that is insane.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Yeah, I mean all of them could have won, really
except Jonahs brother Jasmine Sullivan's amazing. You're you're not familiar
with jazz? I uh no, of course, I'm god. I'm
gonna ask you to sing me just just one bar
from one song. My voice is just she was rap, right,
that's more R and B.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Okay, yeah, more R and B. That's right. She sings lions,
tigers and bears by the way, not not not the
Wizard of Oz version. Yeah, well it's already that's her

(27:36):
voice is amazing. Oh wow, Okay, she's not scared of
lions or tigers or bears.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
My not Jonas Brothers. Between Adele, between a Dell maybe
Lady Antebellum, Lady A. I'm gonna go. I don't think
Adele's ever lost a Grammy. I'm just gonna I. I
am gonna go. I'm gonna go Adele. I'm gonna go Adele.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
Correct, we have a tie, we do. Yep, that's right, yep, yay, nicely,
all right, So.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
You got Adele, Amy Winehouse, who else do we have
that one?

Speaker 1 (28:15):
On your side? On my side, we have Shelby Lynne,
Nora Jones, Maroon Five, Carrie Underwood, and Adele.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Those are great, I mean outside of Shelby, we know
those artists have all stood the test of time. Really
my end, Amy Winehouse, John Legend, Evanescent's, Alicia Keys.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
Christina Aguiler actually strong.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
I can't say it like that. I just really wanted
fifty to win that.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
I'm glad you got Adele because we each got five,
and there are five nominees. So had you not gotten Adele,
you would have done as well as just closing your
eyes and throwing the dart at the wall. We got
some homework to do. Hey, we did twice as well
as random guesses.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
I just want to I just want to know how
to say. Let us see Lidisi, let us see litusy.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
We'll figure that out. You know what.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
I bet LITTSSI has really good of fashion. Oh yeah, yeah,
which is what we're talking about next week. I can't
freaking wait. Hopefully you guys need better than us. We
sucked at this the only one well, and.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
There's five nominees every year, but we're yeah, or should
we we need to hold ourselves to a higher standard?
No longer can we call ourselves that?

Speaker 2 (29:29):
All right? I hope you enjoyed this episode of the podcast.
Enjoy the Grammys.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
