Speaker 1 (00:00):
Shout out to Jimmy Hendrix, Amy wine House, Jim Morrison
number twenty seven. This is by One More Time. I'll
look back on all things nineties and two thousands, the movies.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Please got spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch the music. Oh
the awkwardness from me? Would you have any gray poupon?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Here's your host, Brady Broski. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
It is time to go back to an era where
ashtrays were everywhere.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
They were even on the.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Planes, backseat of cars, station wagons. Couldn't go anywhere without
an ashtray. It's the Brady One More Time Podcast. I'm
the Brady part over there, the Kickball King either a
guy that may or may not be right now running
on fumes. Last time rescheduled this podcast. You said you
had gotten home at three in the morning. Yeah, how
are we doing today? We're hanging in there. We got

(01:02):
home a little earlier last night.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
We had some some fun kickball last night, which was
a different type of fun than the fun you're referencing.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
But okay, here we are all right, Well, I'm glad
he is here. It is the dazzling Dan Ginsberg and
what we're gonna do today is talk about TV catchphrases.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
I love this.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
There's so many to choose from. We're gonna we're gonna
draft it. So I'm gonna start. We're gonna do I'll
do more pick than you number two, then you number
three than me four or five. So we're gonna do
snake like it.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
And then we're gonna we're.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Gonna have five and five five picks each, and then
we're gonna let our viewers and listeners decide who won
the draft.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Sound good? Yeah, I'm coming for revenge. I think you
won the last ones a toy draft. Yeah, it was
a toy draft. Yeah, my skipp it wasn't a pick
for some reason.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
I did love trying to find the audio put to
post on Instagram of skip it because that's really I mean,
the game is fun and whatever, but it's really about
the jingle.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
It's really are jingles needs to be a topic too.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
That's a great, great time, right.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Yeah, did you ever tell you about the time I
got in trouble with Charlie Pooth's management.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
So he came into the studio.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
This is when he first like burst on the scene,
see you again and just come out and the management
was just like just as an interview, no games or
anything like silly fun stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
I just want to talk about his music.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
So I did a game it was Jingle It was
Jingle Oki, and I knew he was like good at
like impressions and stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
He would kill them.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
So and he can and he can do so many
different voices with his voice, and so it was like
I was like, uh, do the uh Farmers insurance but
as Snoop Dogg.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
This is like the wheel on Jimmy Feller yea.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
From so he would be like, you know, we're Farmers
insurance as a horrible that was impression.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
It's good. I love how because I remember from my
morning show days how you'd have all these rules from
like the agents who would book the talent, and then
most of the time, like the talent didn't give a
crap about those rules and they were down for whatever.
So they give you these ground rules and then thankfully
you don't usually need to follow them. Every once in
a while you came across someone who wasn't fun.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
But usually yeah, I mean managers managed too much, right,
I feel, And yeah, that was that's always been a
thing really in our industry.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Well it's all like crisis management or like avoiding there,
it's all like avoiding a bad situation, Like they don't
want to put their artists in a situation where they
might say something that goes viral. That's the wrong reason.
That's it.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
And that didn't go viral, but it definitely got a
lot of views. I got to pull that back up.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Wait, can you do your impressive impression again of Snoop
Dogg during the doing the Farmers double G Snoop Deal,
double G and F A R E R S shizzle.
Okay's you have that a one and a half out
of ten.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Well, if you're still listening and watching, we're going to
do catchphrases.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
But here's a rule.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Here's another rule. Okay, you have to do the catchphrase
as the character. Okay, it makes sense.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
That's fair little spice to it. So that's here we go. Actually,
you know what, I I like this?

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Okay, I think I've got this from last time.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Yeah, and with the number one pick of the twenty
twenty five uh TV catchphrase drafts, it really really rolls
off the time.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna go job Roger. I'm gonna go.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
With did I do that?

Speaker 2 (04:25):
I knew it. I mean it's it's a goat. Yeah,
it's on the Mount Rushmore.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Yeah, Stephen Erkele, Stephen ce Erkle, And did I do that?
I feel like that's everywhere there is a toy you
pulled the string. I feel like it said it is
and everything every is in every episode almost he always
broke something. You caused it chaos, and that's what you say,
did I do that?

Speaker 2 (04:44):
So that's my number one pick? So I cannot argue
I had it five on my list? Yeah? Yeah, I'm
curious to hear how many of mine were on yours
and how many years were on mine? But that, yeah,
I mean I think a big metric here too. How
much did it infiltrate pop culture and everyone? When we
were kids, everyone was saying did I do that?

Speaker 3 (05:00):
All the time.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
I mean, you couldn't come up with a TV catchphrase
that was all over pop culture more than that one.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
I still am looking for Julil White to respond to
my DM nothing. I might have to hit him up again.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Where you at? Once this episode goes viral? I think?

Speaker 1 (05:14):
So all right, so that's my number one pick. What's
your number one pick? To where's the ding?

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Oh? You want to.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Okay, we're gonna do this every time.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
The number two pick catchphrase draft Dazzling Dan, you know.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
The show that was my obsession as a kid. So
I'm gonna go, how you doing.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
That's pretty good? Pretty good, Joey, Yeah, Friends, how you doing?

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Another one that infiltrated pop culture? You still hear it today.
It's like your classic cheesy pick up line that Joey
pulled off much more effectively than most men who have
probably tried to imitate it.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
So fun fact, I don't you probably knew this, but
I learned this. I was like a couple of weeks
years old ago, and when I learned this, that NBC
sent what's the actor's name is it, matt LeBlanc matt
LeBlanc to a TV taping of Blossom to kind of
get inspiration from Joey Lawrence's character on Blossom because he

(06:07):
was kind of in that same like womanizing. But the
reason why is because they didn't want Joey on Friends
the character to be deemed as like, you know, like
a sex addict and like negative. So if you if you,
if you know the two characters, they're similar and because
they're dumb, right, He.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Threads that needle like it's like a well intentioned if
if the intention weren't there, it would be a little creepy.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Yeah, but I thought that was interesting. That is the
too joey.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
I mean, they are very similar in characters, and that
brings Oh, no, you're up next, Go ahead, because we're
going to number three.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Yeah, that's what she said, Michael Scott from the office.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
That's what she said.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
That Actually, you could make a case for that being
the George Washington of the Mount Rushmore that.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Has that has lasted decades beyond when it when it
was initially on TV. Wow. Yeah, you can't go wrong
with I still make That's what I still say. That's
what she said to my friends probably ten times a
day on average.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Can I tell you when my smoke Show of a
wife first said that. When we first started dating, I
was like, this is the one, Yeah, this is the
one you could do no wrong. You said, that's what
she said, and and I giggled. And now we say
it all the time, and we still we still think
it's funny. Okay, that's a good number two pick. Here
we go, number fourth four overall.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Number two, second of the second round.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
I'm gonna have to come strong now, because that's what
she said was, Oh, I was gonna go there, I'm
gonna switch it up.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
I did have? How you doing? Yeah? Okay, did you have?
That's what she said somewhere in there, right, yes, yes,
that's what I said the same page.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
So far, I'm just gonna go. I mean, it's a
TV show that's that's still on twenty something plus years later.
It's it's a cartoon character. But Homer Simpson would always say,
that's it. That's a catchphrase.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
I thought you were gonna go eat my shorts.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Nope, nope, No, that was half.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Yeah, that's fair. Still lasted longer. I mean, it doesn't
matter your age. You know what that is? You hear that,
you know, don't. No, there's a there's an apostrophe in
between the D and the O.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
You sound like you were hurt there. Well, I guess
that makes sense because sometimes he was. He would be
hurt D apostrophe. Oh h it's a great Simpson.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
I mean a show that is still how many seasons
in are we tell you you gotta be around thirty
at least late eighties? Yeah, thirty something season, Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
And still going Stus and still get he gets good ratings.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Okay, here we go. I'm back.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
It's back to me cruising here in the twenty twenty
five catchphrase, I don't think so Okay, I'm gonna go
with this just because this is more my I think
it is more Mayer than your era. We're just talking
about him and rhymes with doe and it's Joey from Blossoms.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Whoa, oh yeah, I like value. I like how you
just went with a doe in a woe, keep it simple, stupid.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Whoa yeah, whoa wait, hold on.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
That sounded Scooby. That sounded shatty from Scooby.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Do Like, well, thank you, that's Casey.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Yeah did that? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (09:17):
I think that does a compliment.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Uh uh sikes zieks No, it's uh whoa, how's that?

Speaker 3 (09:27):
That's good?

Speaker 2 (09:27):
That's solid. Honestly, you're impressed. I mean maybe you just
tried to set the bar low with that horrific snoop
dog impression. But since you really you never never again,
we'll hear that.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
I'm gonna practice it and surprise you, uh real quick.
I will play the Power Rangers theme song if you
can name for me Joey Lawrence's biggest single, Big Pop
record nineteen ninety three.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
I have no idea. I was only a left.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Well we're not gonna hear this then, no, we're not
gonna because you didn't get it. It was nothing my
love can't fix.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
I would never never would have gotten that, never would
have gotten that. My first miss on my Power Rangers opportunity.
I was two for two and yeah not anymore two
for three.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
So you're up now, Dan, let's go. This would be
your number my three pick. Yes, you get three and
then four? Okay, so uh here we go. Okay, I've
got my last go ahead, Dan, what you got?

Speaker 2 (10:25):
How rude? The funny part is your hand. I feel
like you gotta put the hands to the hips for that.
How rude? A jiff you still see today or gift
if you prefer, all the time. I still reply with
people with that that jiff. I think we need to
reply to Bridget in Jordan with that jiff based on

(10:46):
how our boat throughout it has been blowing up today.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
It's getting getting a little tents out there.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
How rude.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Stephanie Tanner full House, Great one, great one? Uh if
you YouTube compilation of how Rude there's a lot of
different variations.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
That's the other thing, you know. Some most of these
are phrases you heard over and over and over again,
and that one. Yeah. I mean, I feel like probably
every three four episodes at least you gotta how rude.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Fun fact about oh you're up next, but fun fact
about Full House. You could have several catchphrases from that show.
You could, so you could you.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Picked how rude. That's pretty good. I feel like, if
it's it's gotta be that what you got. Oh my god,
they killed Kenny.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Nice, well done, cartman.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
I came in late to the South but I actually
thought I hated South Park as a kid because I
watched it like passively. You know, if you just caught
it in clips, you didn't really get the show. It
seemed like it was doing nothing except just like offending
for the sake of offending. And then when you got
when I actually got into it and started sitting down
and watching episodes and seasons, I mean, there are some

(11:53):
brilliant like takedowns on society and politics and all this.
I mean, it's the characters are hilarious, that the plot
lines are hilarious, and obviously the recurring theme of Kenny
dying and then suddenly coming back to like.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Yeah, it's amazing. Yeah, no, that was when that show
came on. It was I felt at first, I felt
like it was not gonna last because it's too dangerous
and some of this. So, like you said, some of
the things were very very edgy, very.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Like it had to go on.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
I remember it had to go on like like late
at night. They would not air that before eight o'clock ever.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
I mean, you I think you can get away with
stuff in cartoons that you can't can you? Like live
action South Park with the same language and and themes
would never ever see the light of dead. Well, you
know what's funny about that.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
I don't know if you've watched cable television at night
anytime recently, but they like they dropped some swears all
of a back in the day. Never yeah, Like I'm like, wait,
hold on, they just they just dropped an.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
F bomb like they always they always could. I mean,
stuff doesn't doesn't apply to cable. It's just over the air.
But they were like there was more fear of effect
and family values and stuff and grated Yeah, yeah, families. Okay,
So I think there's my four. You get one more?

(13:08):
We have five? Oh right, well that's fine. I got
plenty more.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
So I got two more and you gave us how
rude from Full House by Stephanie Tanner. I'm gonna go
same show, Have Mercy, Have Mercy.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Mercy of Mercy. I don't think the last one was real.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Interested mercy.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
I think it's because you're a dude and it's only
us two in the room. It's hard for me to
like really get into that spirit. Yeah, uncle Jesse, you
have mercy. What I'm trying to say?

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Right right? Full House the only show to get to
into our draft here so far?

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Yep, and uh closing out my pics the Mountain here
we got much more of the the draft of twenty
twenty five TV catch phrase.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Draft, which do I pick?

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Here? So I'm gonna go with the two thousands. I'm
gonna go with one of my favorite shows sitcoms ever
and it is going to be the great Barney Stinson.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
And Legend dot dot dot dot dot wait for.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
It, wait for it, Arry. One of my all time
favorite shows is Well, How Much Mother?

Speaker 1 (14:30):
I feel like there's a lot of also another show
with quite a few catchphrases, but that, to me, that
one sticks out the most.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Yeah. So yeah, that God, that show. I could talk
forever about that show. It's it's funny because we covered
in a couple episodes how Obsessed with like weirdly obsessed
with Friends I was growing up, but like Friends was
like the aspirational, like they were a bit older than me.
Rachel was so hot, all everyone was so cool, like
I wanted to be them and aspired to the this

(14:58):
like slightly older cool, cont what it would be like
to be an adult. How I met your mother felt
more like our generation, Like everything they were going through
I could relate to. I had gone through some version
of it with you know, with dating, with life, with
twenties and thirties, getting older all that. I love that show.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
We will go, we will dedicate a full episode. And
but I gotta know, now, what did you think of
the ending?

Speaker 2 (15:20):
It's funny. I liked the ending, which it was a
pretty controversial. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't know that there
was I don't think we need to give a spoiler alert, right,
It's been long.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Enough, I think so. I think if you're still if.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
You're in the midst of watching How I Met your Mother,
just get ahead of sixty seconds. No, I mean, I
think that was the only way it could it. I
know a lot of people were upset that like that
the reveal didn't happen till the end and you didn't
get like the whole lead up. But like the title
the show was was How I Met your Mother, I
feel like that was the only way it could work out,

(15:55):
was that the mother had to die.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
I wonder, right, because it all makes sense under you know,
who didn't have to die as Marshall.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
They didn't have to do that. Wait Marshall. Wait did
Marshall die?

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Marshall died? They talked about it, didn't they what? Yeah,
they did not have to do that.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
I don't remember that. What I mean, I believe you.
I don't remember that at all. What's wrong with me?
Let me google real quick? Be sure that didn't happen
in How I Met Your Father? Uh didn't see an
episode of that? Yeah, need neither. That's why I asked,
I do not remember anything about Marshall dying. Oh, Marshall
does not die. Fake news.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
He eventually becomes the State Supreme Courtyard.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
I was like, Marshall didn't die.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
They made somebody die in that show, and I felt
was very.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Well, the mom dies, Well no, I know that, Yeah,
but is there's something around Marshall maybe it was his dad?

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Was his dad? Yeah he did?

Speaker 2 (16:44):
I think that that might be right. I have to
go back. Well, yeah, I have that up. Not a spoil.
We don't add it here though, So you're gonna get
to still enjoy all of that. You're gonna be listening
along hearing him say that sinking that didn't happen. And
what I like to do. I like to spread death
remembers around here. Are you gonna tell me Ozzie's alive now? No?

Speaker 4 (17:07):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (17:08):
I announced on a microphone once at a club in
Miami that little Lil Wayne died because because I saw it,
I saw pop up on my phone.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
I was like, oh my, I gotta go. I gotta
get up there.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
I ran up.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
We were in Miami for Ultra Music Festival, and I
was like, this has to be true.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
It's it's on the internet. It was just like.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
TMZ yeah right, And I literally like told the DJ
no idea, who how I was? I was like, I'm
a radio DJ in Chicago. I just got some breaking
news about little way I got on the microphone and
then the next like the next like thirty minutes was
nothing but wheezy.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Oh my god, Like everybody's like, oh my god. Yeah,
so that's on brand for me. Yeah. It's funny. We
are both at the age where we don't remember stuff
as well as we used to. So you had me convinced.
I'm like, I have no recollection of Marshall dying and
I loved that show, but I'm sure he's right, and
I've just completely forgotten.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
I think it was his dad.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Yeah, that sounds right, That sounds right. I mean there
was like I feel like there was like a funeral
in the final season, and that's season.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Six, episode thirteen. It's a countdown to the tragic event
Varius clues and foreshadowing, so uh and Lily tearfully informs
Marshall of his father's death.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
And I was like, they didn't have to do that. Yeah,
they did have so serious it wasn't totally like off
brand for them. No, Yeah, okay, this is it, Dan,
I've got I know what I'm going with here. So
you've got so far?

Speaker 1 (18:27):
How you doing? That's what she said? How rude they
killed Kenny Long first four and.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
I'm going to go in a different direction. That's also
going to be a little bit of a preview of
our next episode. Okay, and I'm going to go with
is that your final answer? Ah?

Speaker 1 (18:43):
I see what you did? That a little uh who wants.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
To be a million he wants to be a millionaire?
We just build a millionaire. I mean that show what
was on three, four or five nights a week. I
mean that show took over pop culture late nineties, early
two thousands. Then another one that was just so perva
of across everything. I mean that was that catchphrase was everywhere.
Anytime anybody asked anyone anything and they responded the response back,

(19:08):
is that your final answer? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (19:10):
There was a long period of time where game shows
weren't really on primetime and then that that kind of
changed everything. Yeah, because that that went, that went like
the weakest you are.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Ye, yep, that would be that a great catchphrase as well,
you are the weakest, the weakest link goodbye.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
My friend dated a girl named Jen Clink and we
used to call her the weakest Clink.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
I'm sure she loved that. Shout out to Jen.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Okay, so here we have it, So you have.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
How you doing? Are you doing? She said, how rude
they kill Kenny? And is that your final answer? Is
that's your final answer? I feel Come on, give me
some votes. Pretty good, that's pretty I know the podcast
is named after him, but I'm due to win one
of these.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
I think that. I think I have a strong number
one with I do that and then dope. Yeah, I
think what drags me down is my whoa.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
I mean, none of the listened, none of your picks
are bad, but I feel I feel strong about my
mercy if you lose. It's the way I said that,
very creepy.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Uh. And then legend I'm gonna get to say, I'm
gonna do this. I'm gonna go dairy. So yeah, any uh, dude.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Toss and honorable mentions some slightly more recent shows towards
the end of the two thousands. I loved thirty Rock.
I want to go to there.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Okay, uh yeah, not really popular opinion.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
This is the unpopular opinion sound. I've never seen an episode. Really,
I know, I know it's a fantastic It won like
eight billion Emmys. I know, I know, and it was.
It was.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
It kind of set the tone for Parks and recks.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Yes, well that was gonna be my next one.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
Treats you treat yourself, you treat yourself.
