hit that follow button wherever you're listening to this podcast,
so this podcast will show up in your feed Monday
(00:21):
through Friday. And hey, if you're willing to leave a review,
that would be greatly appreciated as well. Today, I want
to discuss and share a topic that's a little close
to home because today is going to be a tough
day for Tim and I'm going to share why in
(00:43):
a little bit. But because today is not going to
be the easiest of days, I'm not discouraged by the day.
I'm not negative towards the day. I just know it's
going to be a tougher day. I know there's going
to be times where my patience is challenged. I know
(01:03):
there's going to be times where I'm going to be exhausted.
But while I'm exhausted, I must display patience, calmness, and composure.
So we're going to talk about it, and I'm gonna
tell you how I'm going to handle today. But while
you're here. While you're listening, it's time hold on tight
(01:26):
to that steering wheel, grab your favorite drink or a
cup of coffee, and let's bring Heaven a little closer together. Okay,
(01:48):
So why is today going to be a tough day?
My wife works Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and we have two kids.
Our oldest is going to be three in June, and
our youngest is fifteen months. And by the way, we
are expecting our third which is super exciting, and they
(02:11):
will be coming in the month of October. So great,
awesome stuff. Last night and the last few nights have
not been the greatest in terms of their sleep. Last
night's sleep was awful, the night before was awful. And
(02:33):
now I have a ten hour parenting day by myself
with two kids two and under. That's why the day
is going to be tough. I know there's going to
be meldowns. I know there's going to be frustration for
my kids because they're so tired and they don't know
what they're doing. They're so tired, and they don't even
(02:54):
know what they're saying because they're so tired. And my
mind shifts to what scripture says in Colossians, chapter three,
verses one through five, and I'm reading in the ESV
English Standard version of the Bible. It says this in
(03:16):
chapter three, verses one through five, if then you have
been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above,
where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things that are above, not on
things that are on earth. For you have died and
(03:37):
your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ,
who is your life, appears, then you also will appear
with him in glory. Put to death. Therefore, what is
earthly in you sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil, desire, and covetous,
(03:58):
which is idolatry. So when I read this passage and
I think about my day, it's not enough to start
my day with Jesus. I need to carry Jesus throughout
my entire day. So when I feel myself feeling impatient,
(04:22):
when I feel myself starting to get frustrated, what I
need to do is I need to think about Jesus
and I need to be motivated by Jesus to be
the best husband I can be, and to be the
best dad I can be, and to be the best
follower of Jesus that I can be. It says, set
(04:47):
your minds on things that are above, not on things
that are on earth. So setting my mind on things
that are above is setting my minds on Jesus. Is
setting my mind on how Jesus loves, is setting my
mind on how Jesus acts, is setting my mind on
(05:07):
Jesus's patience. So my job as a follower of Jesus
is to take Jesus's words and Jesus's actions and apply
those things to my life. Because it would be so
easy for a meltdown to happen and for me to
lose my composure, my patience and get frustrated because it's
(05:35):
going to happen. But the decision that I make in
that moment where I could get frustrated, instead of setting
my mind on the frustration and the meltdown and the
challenging day, what I need to do is set my
mind on how Jesus would act, on how Jesus would love,
(06:01):
and when I really think about it, in the grand
scheme of things, a meltdowns and meltdown is not that
big of a deal. But what is a big deal
is the gratitude that I have towards Jesus because of
the faithfulness that he's had in my life, that he's
(06:24):
shown in the past and the present and will in
the future. Because a meltdowns and meltdown, who wants that.
But what's a bigger thing to think about during that
meltdown is just how faithful Jesus has been to me
and my family because he's allowed us to have kids.
(06:45):
He's allowed us to bring two children into this life
and to raise them in a way that hopefully serves
the Lord. So if you're going through your day and
maybe you're listening to this right now in the morning
or afternoon, maybe you're listening to this next week, I
don't know, it doesn't matter. But if your feeling like
(07:08):
today is going to be a hard day, well I
want you to go back to Colautionans chapter three and
read those first five verses because it's not enough to
just start your day with Jesus. What we need to
do is we need to carry Jesus with us throughout
the rest of the day and even say five second prayers.
(07:31):
Sometimes that's all it takes. As you're going into a meeting,
as you're about to have a challenging discussion as you
need to make a difficult decision, or in my case,
as I'm going to change a poopy diaper, or respond
to crying two year old and crying fifteen month old.
(07:52):
Sometimes all you need to do is say, Jesus, help
me clothe myself with what you would want me to do.
Help me clothe myself with your righteousness. Give me the
strength and endurance and patience and love. And sometimes that
reset throughout the day when you're feeling on edge is
(08:17):
all you need to bring yourself back to a place
that Jesus would want you to be. So I hope
this podcast is encouraging you if you're going through a
tough day. Even if you're not going through a tough day,
maybe your day is looking spectacular. We should still take
(08:40):
Jesus with us throughout the day, not just in the morning,
not just that night, but midday meal, pray before the meal,
midday meeting, pray before the meeting. This applies to everybody,
and sometimes it feels more applicable than other times during tough,
challenging days. But even on good days, we should still
(09:03):
take Jesus with us everywhere we go and during all
moments of the day. Thank you for listening and remember
hit that follow button wherever you're listening to the show.
And I hope you have a great day and thank
you for making this podcast part of your day. Where

and more about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Everyone
(09:28):
have a great day.
