Speaker 1 (00:00):
Five six sixty nine Zeros text line, You guys want
to get involved in the playoff conversation. That's the KWA
Commons Spirit Health playoff text line. I can't say the
word playoff enough.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Big show tonight, Paul.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Klee, Cody Roark, wro Me being going to join us,
looking forward to that. I want to hear from you
guys on your thoughts so far on getting into the playoffs.
I don't care that they kicked the butts of guys
who were, you know, not ever going to play for
the Kansas City Chiefs. Mostly, I don't care about that.
You're in like that. You handle business. You don't get
(00:33):
brownie points for doing it, but you handle business.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
You're in.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
You're in the playoffs. It's a whole new season now.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Broncos open as eight and a half point.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Underdogs to the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
But we all know what happened the last time the
Broncos played the Bills in Buffalo, ABO all the way
back to last year on Monday Night Football, when Russell
Wilson and the never Broncos beat the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Stunned the Buffalo Bills on national television five six six
nine zero is the text.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
I want to hear all about your thoughts on the season,
your thoughts on Bow Nicks. I think Bow checked a
lot of boxes this season. We don't know what the
ceiling is, but I think we know the floor is
certainly a capable NFL starter. I went through a lot
of embarrassing tweets today from people talking about the Broncos
(01:31):
that lit the number twelve pick on fire.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
If Bow was going to be a massive bust.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
You had somebody out there saying that Sean Payton was
going to be backing his seat on Fox this offseason.
And surprisingly none of that was me. To our crowd,
everybody thinks that I was the hater or something.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I'm going back and I'm looking at it at these tweets.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
I'm like, dude, I projected the Broncos to have nine wins.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
The hater.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
It's always funny to see, you know, it's always funny
to hear the the I guess cognitive dissonance of the
masses when you when you're critical or something, but you know,
they don't ever fold in the entire picture when when
making their assertions. We'll do a little bit of talk
about the draft tonight. I know there's some some questions
about that. Do a little bit of talk about the
(02:24):
coaching carousel, what I what I see and where I
see some of these jobs going.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Vance.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Joseph has been requested for interviews by the Bears and
the Jets. David Shaw has been requested for interviews by
the Bears and the Saints, and the Colts fired Gus Bradley,
and I'm told the Jim Leonard is going to be
in consideration for that job, that they'll they'll reach out
(02:52):
to him when you know, when they can, but that
he's going to be in consideration possibly for that job.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
So to keep your eye on there in terms of.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Broncos coaching staff moves, things that will have to keep
an eye on this offseason that we otherwise wouldn't have thought.
We might have to keep an eye on. When's the
last time a Broncos coach was poached? How long has
it been since the Broncos we've had a coach poach?
I think, seriously, I'm going back trying to think about it,
(03:26):
feels like that there's been a like like a little
bit peeled off the staff here or there to make
lateral moves at the end of the contract expiring, but
I'm trying. I don't think that there's been anybody poached
that I can remember.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Brandon Staley maybe does that count.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Brandon Stanley went from vic's outside linebackers coach to uh
was it rams defensive coordinator before getting the Chargers job.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
I think that's the last time.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Well, I have to go back and look if anybody
el no, because I'm not one hundred percent on that,
but I think that's the last time a coach was
posted for the Denver Broncos. And that's certainly about a
little while five six six nine zeros a text line
a lot of people saying I made a lot of
money on the wind total, telling people to not just
(04:20):
go five and a half but buy it up to eight.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
So I'm I'm glad. I'm hoping you guys cash. We
all not cash.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
We all cashed on the bow Nix over we cashed
on the bow Nix rushing totals, So I'm hoping you
guys cashed as well. Hung around for that I want
to get into. I don't want to recap the Kansas
City game. I really don't, and it's not because they
blew them out.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Of whatever.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
It's just because there's nothing of value to get from that. That
was a checkbox game. You had to come in and
beat Kansas City's backups. They handled business and that set.
There's not really anything to recap from that. Yeah, I
looked cool and the scoreboard padded the totals for bo
and all that stuff, and you know, I mean late
did we won?
Speaker 2 (05:00):
But but I'm not gonna.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Sit there and get into doing a breakdown on a
game where you're beating up on guys. It was kind
of like the preseason right where we had starters in
and we were beating up on backups or the Colts
and the you know those the Packers in those games.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Like, I'm not gonna get it. It's a real win.
It counts in the league, like it's not a preseason game.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
It counts if you want to trotch your backups out
there with a fully healthy team. Like Kansas City fan
out there that's trying to say it's.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Not a real win.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
You don't get to say that. You chose who you
put on the field.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
What about all the Bengals fans that are upset with
the Kansas City Chiefs cribe a river?
Speaker 2 (05:39):
What a joke.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Crying asked me earlier today when we were prepping for
KA Sports, He's like, are you upset that the Chiefs
didn't play.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Their starters against the Broncos?
Speaker 4 (05:48):
As a Bengals fan, I said, no, they would have
won the first game of the year against the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
They wouldn't even be in this If you.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Beat like the worst team in the league or second
worst team in the league, whatever it is, to open
the season, they wouldn't be in the spot.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Keithan orlandoson is Adam gase left and became a head coach. Yeah,
that's correct.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
However, I'm talking about just getting poached in general, and
I think it's Staley.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Like I don't remember. I don't think Staley's contract ran out.
I may be wrong on that.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
I thought he left to take the defensive quarter of
the job, and that would be the most recent I
was looking for the most recent one. So if Adam
Gasey is the most recent one, then cool. But for
whatever reason, I felt like it was. I felt like
it was Brandon Staley. Maybe I'm wrong on that.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
We'll see five six, six nine zero.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
I want to hear you guys' thoughts on the matchup
with the Bills, because I do want to get into that.
I don't want to talk about Kansas City and beating
up on their backups and all that kind of stuff,
because that gets into that meaningless quibbles over real win.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Now it's a real win. Council. The stat sheet they
chose so that it wasn't like it's.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
The Lions who have been playing shorthanded all year because
they had to.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Because everybody was out due to injury.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
And what a phenomenal job Aaron Glenn did keeping that
defense together all here.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
What a what a what a virtuoso performance.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Aaron gled got that defense to put up against Minnesota
last night.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
This is totally different.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Kansas City chose to put their backups out there, they
chose every part of that.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
All those guys that were active, they're all healthy, all
could have played. So I love love looking and reading
you guys. His thoughts on this.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
A lot of stuff, A lot of stuff coming in.
Jack del Rio, Yeah, uh no, I want uh. I'm
looking for the most recent one. Who is the most
recent Broncos coach? Last time a Broncos coach was posted
by another team. And when I say post, I mean
he took a he was on contract still and left
to take a better position somewhere else. I don't want
(07:59):
talk about lateral move or anything because who's left to
take about it? And I'm pretty sure the answer to
that is Brandon Stately, But I could be wrong. I'm
all ears if I'm wrong on that. Several people asking
about Carson Wentz. Dude, I'll say this. I believe that
he'll be signed to the New York Giants this offseason,
and he used as a bridge quarterback there. I don't
(08:25):
think that that performance for him yesterday, and I thought
he'd he did just fine. I don't think that's indicative
of what he can do when he's also surrounded by backups,
specifically on the offensive line. I think he did the
best that he could with what he had out there.
I don't think that's on Carson Wentz. Mean, the team
was just starting backup, so we were absolutely gonda dust him.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
This is a team we.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Played to a virtual draw, yet Arrowhead just they needed
a field goal block to win just a few weeks ago,
so on even footing in their house, we were even
teams he played their backups, and this is just not
a fair fight. Somebody says that General Averro is the
(09:06):
most recent No. Averro was lateral move and that was because, uh,
you know, they released him from his contract. So that's
not what I'm looking I'm looking for somebody who on
contract that that took a better job somewhere else while
on contract. Again, I think that's Brandon Staley, but I'm
open to being wrong. Five six, six, nine zero. Yeah,
(09:33):
I like the two, one and four. I'm not gonna
read that one, but I like your comment on that.
I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
We got we got a lot of people gonna join
us tonight.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Paul Plea's going to join us in the next segment
from the Denver because that always love talking to Paul.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
It'll do season recap from him.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Cody Rourke's gonna join us uh after that seven o'clock hour,
and Roby being top of the eight o'clock hour looking
forward to UH to chat with her a little bit.
The odds have shifted. The sports books have the odds
out for who's going to be drafted number one overall,
(10:08):
And it's interesting to me because the one team that
I think likes this player is picking number one overall,
and I don't know if they love him enough to
take him at number one, but I do believe they
like him, and that's cam Ward. I've talked to people
out there. There are not a lot of teams that
like cam Ward, at least not right now. Maybe they
get deep in net scouting process something changes their mind.
(10:28):
But the teams that I've talked to, the guys that
I've talked to out there, not a lot of people
as impressed with cam Ward as media would have you think.
There are some teams out there that do not have
a quarterback they believe is worthy of a first round
draft pick.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
So that would obviously include Colorado Shdor Sanders.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yea.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
I believe both those guys will go in the first round.
I believe both those guys are on the top five.
But there are teams out there that certainly have the
belief Tennessee is locked into the number one spot. The Giants,
(11:16):
the Patriots, teams that could have had that late wins
cost them.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
I had some conversations with.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Somebody I know that's plugged into the Giants organization. It's
inside the Giants organization, and their response was was was funny.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
To be because we're talking.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
And he was like I think the late season win
saved our coaching staff in GM, where the late season
win cost the coach of the New England Patriots.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
I don't necessarily agree with that.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
I don't necessarily agree that the late win cost gered Mayo.
I think the things that cost Gired Mayo or some
of the late late season decision making that he had,
he was in over his head if they were contractually
oblated to hire him as coach in waiting. But there
were a lot of people that when that contract was signed,
didn't believe it was going to be the start of
this past.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Year that he would be taking over.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
They thought it would be a few years down the
road still, and then he needed some more season against
the maturation. And so Gerrod Mayo got the job of
succeeding Bill Belichick, which was always standing in a long shadow.
You were always going to have the specter of Bill
Belichick behind you in that you were also rebuilding that
(12:34):
thing from scratch. I mean that team was pretty gutted.
I mean they got some defensive pieces, The offensive side
of the ball was pretty gutted.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
You went out there and got a rookie quarterback.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
You still need to address the offensive line, he's got
no playmakers around him. I Drameo did the best that
he could in that regard, but it was clear that
he was in over his head in other areas.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Just a couple of weeks ago, he announced that he.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Was suspending Ramandre Stevenson for the game coaches decision personal
conduct thing.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
And then what happened. Romondre Steens went out and started
that game, the same game that he said he was
suspending him.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
For, and then when asked about it, he just said
coaches prerogative, that that's not a real like, that's.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
I can't even I can't even begin to fathom how
that sort of decision happens, where you announce publicly that
you're suspending a guy for conduct detrimental, then you turn
around and start him with no explanation, and you know,
(13:44):
t Ride Mail may make a fine head coach someday.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
I just think that right now he's.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Looting a little over his head, and I think that
bore itself out on the fields keeping their staff a
general manager in place. Jacksonville fired Doug Peterson but hasn't
fired Trent Balk yet. And I'll tell you the difference
(14:08):
in that In what I'm saying, I don't necessarily believe
that they're one hundred percent committed to keeping Trent Bulky.
They just know that they need operations to continue at
the front office, the scouts, they need everybody to continue
to report and do their jobs.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
And I believe that the Jags are going to go through.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
This interview process and let the head coach either keep
Trent Bulke or bring in their own.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Guy.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Shod Con at his press conference was noncommittal with Trent
Balkey other than you know, he's kind of here right now.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
So I would.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Suggest that just because Jacksonville didn't fire Bulky yet doesn't
mean they're done with him or not done with him,
as the case may be. I would not be surprised
if he want if he wound.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Up getting fired.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
The question in Jacksonville is really kind of what the
plan is there. I think they would love to get
Ben Johnson in there. I think they'd love to do that,
but he's got other options in Chicago and New England.
I think New England ultimately said alone Mike Rabel, but
we'll see.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
I think jackson would love to get.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Ben Johnson in there if they don't I think the
backup playing this guy like like Ethan Cohen, maybe the
offensive coordator of the Tampay Buccaneers, which by the way
is Baker Mayfield, the kingmaker.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
As far as uh getting his coaches hired Dave can
Alliss last year.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Carolina up, possibly Uh, Liam Cohen, there's a an outside
chance here and there are connections to make this work.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Where Jacksonville would bring in.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Pete Carroll and put he puts the band back together
down Aaron Jacksonville. A lot of lone of these Seattle
Seahawks coaches made their time down there in Jacksonville. There'll
Bevil was down there for a minute, Robert Salah was
down there for a minute. Gus Bradley obviously there for
a while. So there's some familiarity within that coaching family.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
I would not be surprised to see.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Them potentially go in that direction. And then we circle
back to the Broncos. What does that mean for Denver? Well,
Vance Joseph is getting head coaching interviews. And I'll tell
you this, whatever you think of Vans Joseph, he turned
his defense around and he's a hell of an interview.
(16:36):
Every interview he's ever had everybody I've ever talked to
that he's been interviewed for something said, he's just absolutely hasted.
So there's a possibility that we could ask to turnover
on defense. And if it's not Vans, Joseph Jim Leonard
is in consideration for the Colts defensive coordinator job. Colts
just fired Gus Bradley. I don't know the letters necessarily
(17:02):
going to get it, but from what I'm told, he's
certainly in consideration for that. David Shaw from our front
office is interviewing for head coaching jobs. It's nice to
be a paragon of success in which other people want
a piece of your success.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Or teams are interviewing your guys.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
The downside of that is struggling to try to keep
it all together.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
We've talked about the possibility of Courtland Sutton being a
cat type casualty.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
We hadn't really talked about coaching staff or people trying
to get a piece of that, and you don't moving
forward to be fascinating. Fascinating the watch five six, six,
nine zeros in text line, A lot of great questions
coming in. I'll get to some of those a little
bit later. One said Brendon Stanley was not under contract
(17:57):
with the Broncos when he left to become head coach.
I can't remember if he was or was, And I
know he he was obviously vixed outside backers coach. I
know that, and then he left to be the DC
of the Rams, and I knew that. I just didn't
remember if he was under contract or not at that
point in time. Anyway, the point here is is, you
know who are some coaches that were under contract that
(18:18):
were poached? It has been a while, It has certainly
been a while here, and it's it's certainly an indicator
of the success level that de never Broncos are having.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Now the teams are attempting to do that. Paul Glee,
we come back Broncos Country tonight.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
Pretty amazing when the right group of people come together
from proud of everyone in here, because man, it's never easy.
It's never easy, and you know what, that's how life's
going to be. But you get back up every time.
You've never ever not get back up.
Speaker 6 (18:52):
You guys have accomplished a lot this season, and there's
something in life about always going higher than what people
think you can do. Again, couldn't be more proud of
you all this front office coaching staff.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
Uh, this is an.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
Incredible, incredible group and we're privileged to be a part
of it.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Thank you, Denver Broncos.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Back in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
We're gonna right out to the ka Commas barrel hotline,
ring on my favorite Paul Clee from the Denver Gazette.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
It's Playoff Paul, Paul. How you doing.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
What's up? Brother? Good to talk to you.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Yeah, good to talk to you too. Welcome back to it.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
We're rebranding here Playoff Country tonight. Can't tell for excited
or not, but you know is as big as this is.
You check the box against Kansas City's backups. Now you're
looking forward to this Buffalo game. I think it's bigger
to have made the playoffs, even if you get painted
by Buffalo.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
If you win, so much the better and wow if
that happens.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
But even if you get pasted by Buffalo, I think
it's better for this culture to win, get in the
playoffs and get get the brake. Speat off you that
it was to hand on a three game slide and
have missed.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
What say you, sir, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
There's there's no question about that. Man. The experience that
you get from something like this is invaluable. There's so
many young guys in that locker room yesterday or last
night that you know, they have no idea what they're
getting into Sunday. There's a whole different beasts that they're
going into. But the next time around, they're going to
(20:19):
know exactly what they're getting into. So, you know, I
had a great conversation with Jay K. McMillan. He's one
of my favorite guys that's come through this place in
a number of years. I just I really enjoyed talking
to that guy. You know, his path, you know, going
undrafted out of eastern East Carolina, probably not supposed to
be here. He's been a pretty valuable player for this group.
(20:42):
Guys like that this experience. Man, his eyes are lit up,
and so I agree with you, and you know also
been there are ramifications beyond you know, just playing this
game for the franchise as a whole. I got to
think that I don't know when it happens, but it's
going to happen. When you talk about, you know, a
(21:04):
potential new mile High and you think about that a
lot easier to sell the idea of the new stadium
when you're ten and seven and a playoff team than
when you're you know, four and thirteen and it doesn't
look like you're going anywhere. So there are a lot
of different things, a lot of different reasons I guess
I should say for why this was important for this
to happen.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
Tymer Paul Clear the Denver Gazette. Yeah, there is.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
I mean, if you're trying to establish the culture that
Sean Payton's trying to establish, you needed this one. You
couldn't end the season or three game slide after, you know,
losing games to the Chargers and the Bengals. Some say choking,
but I mean, you know it might be gratuitous. You
go out and you hand them, you absolutely past the
Chiefs backups, which you know, great in that you've got Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Fans wanted about it, but who cares.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
I think that at the end of the day, though,
for the culture you're trying to build, getting in here
validates a lot of what it is that Sean Payton
is trying to say. And whatever your opinion of Sean
Payton is, at the end of the day, this team
got to double digit wins and got to the playoffs
in a year that many including the sports books had them.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
At five six wins.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Yeah, and that was interesting too, wasn't it yesterday that
they kind of just reiterated over and over from player
to player and Sean Payton too, talking about they all
knew the win total. They were very aware of what
was being said, you know, the projections that had them
finish the last NSCA West, you know, maybe one of
the worst rosters in the NFL. It also, I think
(22:28):
two speaks to there were some questions about how it's
going to work with Sean Payton, you know, and also
who wants to run things and working with George Peyton,
a guy that had been here for a little bit,
and they're just gracious. That's the reason they're here, because
that thing works so well because you find you know,
(22:49):
you found guys like Jelil McLaughlin, like Jay Kwan McMillan.
You filled some spaces that had been voids, you know
that there, and you had to get some guys on
the prepherree that you didn't have before that could play.
And so I think that that relationship, that working relationship,
(23:10):
it looks to be something that has some staying power
now because of the reason why they're in the playoffs.
It's largely because they found the quarterback. It's largely because
the defense is ferocious. But you filled in some spaces
that weren't there before, and that speaks to you know,
I think you used the word procurement, which is a
(23:32):
very strong word on Champagne's behalf. I think it was
with Coach Logan's post game show yesterday, the procurement of
the right type of players. I appreciated that, and that
speaks to a relationship that really is working between these
two guys.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Yeah, I think to Dovetail Austin, I think that's the
most important thing about this because I think that both
of them, despite whatever reservations there may have been, you know,
coming into it, I think they're good for each other.
I think that George Peyton reigns in Sean some of
Sean Payton's aggressiveness in that same procurement, whether that process
be the draft or whatever. And I think that Sean
Payton causes George to be more aggressive in his procurement
(24:11):
of some of those things. And I think that balance
there has struck a chord.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Yeah, and you know what, you know exactly what this
team needs in the offseason and I don't know if
that starts on Monday, if it starts, you know, two
weeks from now or whenever. But you know there's certain
positions you can identify because they've they've filled in enough
other spots that look pretty good. I mean, secondary is
really good, man, you got you got guys back there.
(24:35):
This defensive line is really good. Benito, he's going to
be a very wealthy man. He's a fantastic player. There's
a lot of on there, and I don't know if
it becomes that, but there's a lot of on there.
So but you know on offense what you need. You
need a tight end, you need certain pieces, you need
a running you need another running back, you need a
dynamic running back. But you've been able to identify that
(24:57):
and you can go into the off season knowing that
you know they're not luxuries necessarily, but you know that
you have a little bit of something here and you
got to fill in the rest of the pieces.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
And we're talking with Paul Clifton the Denver because that look.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
I agree, and I think that part of this is
part of it is being able to identify those kinds
of things and then be able to go after it as.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
You look at this thing now.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
One of the things we've talked about Courtland Sutton and
the possibility there that that's a you know that that's
a cap casual that you just mentioned Benito who's got
to get paid, Zach Allen has got to get paid.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
John Franklin Myers is coming up on on on need
and page.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
You look around this team, they probably need another safety
opposite Brandon Jones. You definitely need a tight end, another
running back. You're not going to have any backup quarterbacks after.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
The season ends.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
That's probably another ten million dollars there. So as you
look around, even with fifty four million in available space,
they're still going to have to be a little tight
in what it is that they do. Could Courtland Sutton
have played his last game at Mile High in a
Broncos uniform?
Speaker 3 (25:52):
Yeah, I think that's on the table for sure, especially
because they've put some capital towards deposition with Troy Black,
Franklin and Marvin men and it looks like you got
some guys I'd like Courtland stick around. He's been he's
been good for business because he's always been available to
talk and he's a he's a guy, he's a good guy.
He really is. So I'm happy for him that he's there.
(26:16):
But I do think that that's a very good possibility
because you do have some young players at that position
that looks like they're going to be good players. I
think Marvin Mins is h He's a dynamic man. He
is he still holds I think he still holds the
Texas state record for high school receiving yards. And if
you hold the Texas state record for high school receiving yards,
(26:36):
you're pretty good. You're not you're not necessarily a can't
sail guy, but you're on the edge of that. And
he's been fantastic, especially the last two weeks. He's a
dynamic player. So I do think that, you know, Courtland's
probably aware of that that his payday may come elsewhere.
So you could tell yesterday that that that means a
(26:56):
great deal to him to be able to not, you know, say,
this is the last game a mile High and you
never got some playoffs. That's a bummer, that's a big
fat bummer. But now he can if that was his
last game there, he can go out on a high note.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Yeah, And that's you know, that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
It just felt like there was never any ramp up
to a sendoff as far as that kind of stuff goes,
And it does feel like that's really something that spits
potentially on the table just looking at you know, the numbers,
especially if you topped off everybody this year, whether it
was Gold Bowls, Minors, et cetera. John Cooper, you know
you topped off guys this year. It's gonna be a
little tight trying to figure navigate some of that while
you still have the thirty four million dead cap from
Russell Wilson hanging over your head this next season. As
(27:37):
we look real quick at the Buffalo Bills game, what
are your expectations for this team going up there to Buffalo.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
Of course we won the last time we.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Were at Buffalo thanks to Russell Cortland last year.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Yeah, I'm working on some stuff for this week. We
got really good stuff coming then and the denverg get
out this week. So what you just messed the dead cap?
This is a stat like this is pretty wild. The
fifty three million cap that they have this year, that
is number one in the NFL. No other team in
the top ten of that statistic. You want to be
(28:07):
a part of made the playoffs, they're the only one
and they were number one in that that statistics. So
that's that does speak to the front office and finding
you know, the diamonds and the ross that you know,
other teams maybe overlooked that. I just wanted to mention
that real quick. I didn't realize there were number one
in the NFL until today and you've probably talked about that,
but you know the Bills. I what I'm interested in
(28:32):
is how much is DJ gonna blitz this team?
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (28:36):
That that that that that is interesting to me because
right now I think the Broncos after this weekend or
third in the NFL in blitz Ray, they blitz a lot.
Do you blitz John Josh Allen? Do you have to?
Because this is interesting. They had thirty nine sacks on
the road this year. That's that's they had twenty four
at home. They got to the quarterback more often when
(28:58):
they were playing away from home than they did on
the run at home, which is very interesting. Can you
blitz Josh Allen? Because of the way that he runs,
He can really move. We know that. So I think
that's how they game plan for Josh Allen is going
to be very It's going to be very interesting and
very telling. Do they stick to what they've done all
year or do they try and sit back and they
(29:20):
compete them with his arm? Because it looks like, you know,
the rare time we get to watch the Bills. He
is so dangerous, man. I think he's got ten eleven
twelve rushing touching touchdowns something like that. He has evolved
into a you know, into a player that can beat
you in so many ways. I'm a big fan. I
love watching the guy. I love the fact that he
(29:40):
played at HU Job. He's he seems like a guy
you want to play with. We didn't, you know, you
thought he might become that. This was probably is the
best case scenario for him when he was playing in Laramie.
He's unbelievable. So a matchup with a defense like the
Broncos have with two or three or four more different
(30:00):
pass rushers that can stack the quarterback against a guy
like that, it's really good TV.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
If something else, well, we're looking forward to that, Paul.
Speaker 1 (30:08):

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Now, Tens of people waiting with bait his breath. Oh
my goodness, will be so hard for yourself.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
You know we're talking about we're talking about this game
coming up in Buffalo, and you know, the Broncos beat
the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo on Monday Night Football last year,
just last year, twenty four to twenty two, and a
large reason for winning that game. The bulk of the
(31:14):
reasons for winning that game actually aren't here anymore.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Russell Wilson is gone.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
He was twenty four of twenty nine with two touchdowns,
no picks, and only four sacks in that game. I
say only because it's Russ only four anyone else that
might be a little bit much levade Olatavius Murray's not
here anymore. He was with the Bills at that point
in time, I guess, so he wasn't with us. I'm
(31:41):
trying to think who else somehow played in that game,
but not it wasn't the whole, It wasn't appreciable amount.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Javonte was really the big guy.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Twenty one carries for seventy nine yards in that one.
Courtland obviously was the big target. Everybody, I think remembers
the spect.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
Acular catch, yeah, the one they called and complete to
begin with, where I got overturned.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
Yeah, uh, but he was the biggest receiving threat in
that game. The rest of it, I mean, we don't.
Most of these guys are like Jerry Judy's not here
so much. I p Ray's not here anymore. And then
on the defensive side, it's kind of sort of a
similar situation. You know, Justin Simmons was probably the star
that gave me, had an interception and a forced fumble.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
I feel bad for Justin Simmons a little bit.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
You know, leaving the Broncos to go to a playoff team,
and then the Broncos go to the playoffs and the
Falcons font.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
And he was the bright spot on a lot of
bad teams for many years for the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Yeah, and I.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Praised that quat because he didn't leave the Broncos. He
was sumarily released. He was basically told to leave. Yeah,
he was voluntild in that particular particular situation. You know,
we had ja Qua McMillan force the fumble that he's
still here. Obviously, Alex Singleton recovered Justin Simmons forced fumble,
but he's obviously on IR so he's not gonna be.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Available for this one.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Josie Juwele was was big in that game, had a
bunch of tackles. Fabian Moreau had an interception in that game.
Two passes defensed, not here anymore. I don't believe the
Broncos got a sack in that game. I don't believe
they sacked Josh Allen, not that I recall.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
I have to go back and look.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
I think there was one one tackle for a loss
and that was DJ Jones that I remember.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
I think we got a few hits on.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
The quarterback, but that it was either Zach or nic
Bonito or both or whatever.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
But I like, you know, it's it's just funny to
me how much of.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
The turnover and how much of that what contributed to
that win just last year, just a year and a half.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Ago, is not here anymore. The Broncos did a really
good job of.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
Containing Zach Allen in that game, especially up until the
final the waning minutes of the game, and he ran
that one in to put the Bills up by one
before the Broncos drove down for the game winning field goal.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Allen was fifteen to twenty six for one.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Hundred and seventy seven yards, a touchdown in two interceptions,
and a passer.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Rating of fifty nine point three. When we come back, we.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
Got Cody Rourke from Mylei Sports get a chance to
talk to him preview this thing.
