Speaker 1 (00:00):
Audisd On Gretz aspen So twenty four hour Sports Network.

(00:03):
It will never work. Never the Broncos Country that I
had been but all bright Nick Ferguson, Grant Smith five
six six nine zero is the text line.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Quite a few texts coming in. Profit says love you guys.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Brian wants to know if Dion has haters, referring to
our earlier conversation about haters.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
There's lots lots of.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Good stuff coming in there. If you missed any part
of the show, you go to Broncos Country and a
dot com slash podcast or if each podcast Apple, it Tunes,
Spotify and sold the free and awesome and redesigned iHeartRadio
app where you can get to take it for granted
podcast as well.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
You can also leave us a talkback like this, good evening, gentlemen.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Profit here, Ben I couldn't disagree more the snatching of
the ego from deep within the body of Chiefs Nation.
Is Broncos Country super Bowl this year? Is it the
same as a Lombardi Trophy? No, it will still hold
a place in our hearts. Very special for the twenty

(00:57):
twenty four season, and we will be coming for the
Chiefs sweep in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I'm with profit on the last one there for the
sweep in twenty twenty five, go, I'm here for it.
They're gonna need it, be honest to this division is
a murderer's row. You're gonna need at least one.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
You beat them here obviously not granted with their backups.
You almost beat them in Arrowhead if it hadn't been
for that, you know, lock field goal.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
I'm certainly here for it.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Sean Payton laid the gauntlet down with the you know,
with with the talk after the playoffs or about where
we were excited about the next round we thought we
could have taken them or whatever, you know, it'd be.
It'll be interesting, I guess to see how he goes.
But I'm with that. I agree with the latter part.
I just for me, I don't know, I'm wired. I
tell people the same thing I said when Tom Brady
was winning Super Bowls or when Peyton Manning was winning

(01:49):
Super Bowls. It's just appreciate greatness, man like, just appreciate greatness,
you know, and and it makes it that much better
when you beat them, you know. I'm not I'm never
I'm not rooting for those guys to fail. It doesn't
feel better to me when they lose. Maybe for other people,
and I'm not telling you how to fan or any
of that kind of stuff, but the way for me,
I just appreciate greatness and you know, it makes it
that it makes it feel that much better when you win.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
What's funny about last night's game is because.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Obviously, you know, we didn't see the best year statistically
that Patrick Mahomes has put up, and I know this
is would add to the narratives that, yeah, the chief
time is kind of winding down, and it's like, well,
Andy Reid didn't make the proper adjustments for me. The

(02:32):
Eagles made it really difficult for Andy Reid to make
those adjustment And this game is not, in my eyes,
an indictment on Andy Reid, nor is it on Patrick Mahomes.
Because these types of things are going to happen. Teams
are going to catch up, teams are going to evolve,
and that's the evolution of the game. When you're on
top of the league in any professional league, everyone is

(02:56):
gunning for you. They're going to build out their rosters
to basically compete against you, and if you look at
some of the issues as to why the Chiefs were
not successful offensively, No, they didn't stay committed to the run.
But also the only speed guy they had on the

(03:17):
offense was Xavier Worthy. Travis Kelce can't run anymore. Yeah,
New Hopkins can't run anymore.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Man did just that uncharacteristic trait he had all the
apace just dropped. The one thing he's always had was
being surehanded wolf right.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
So these are some of the elements of the game
that just kind of deteriorated. And I guess that groundswell
of an offense and defensive performance. But I'm not one
to say, well, oh yeah, the Chiefs dynasty is over.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
They're done. I'm not gonna say that. I'm not saying that.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
I'm not being like Sam Monson who wrote that article
in twenty thirteen to Tom Brady should retire. He's lost
a step and he's going out before he lay, and
then he proceeded to go out there rip off how many.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Super like I'm not gonna be that guy. Guy Papaho's been.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
In the league eight years. He's probably got another eight
years in the league if he stays healthy. I mean
that puts him at the age Rus Wilson is now,
you know, I mean end of the day. I'm not
even close to calling at the end of the dynasty
or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Reality is they need to reach a little bit on
the offensive line.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
They got to get another you know, they got another
pass catching weapon or two in there, and then they're
right back where they started.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I mean, like we talked about last week, when I'm
talking about postseason validation, you know, Brett Veach being the
GM for the Kancity Chiefs deserves a lot of credit
for kind of building that team into what it is
right now. And a couple of pieces here, and they
always find a way to, you know, manipulate the drafting
away get a player, not saying okay, but this was

(04:45):
the player that we wanted and settling, but getting someone
that kind of fits what it is that they do.
I expect for them to do that. But for the Broncos,
it's all about trying to build, to make sure that
your team is in that conversation because it is going
to be an arms race in the AFC as a whole.
But first you got to get out of your own division.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Yeah, I mean, and this is I can't. I cannot,
for the life of me fathom a division that would
be tougher than.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
What the AFC is going to be this year.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
I remember a couple of years ago, everybody's talking about
it and I was like, I don't know, and we
ended up being kind of the suckers because that was
the first year the Rust, you know, the Rust and
Hackett thing. But this coming year, I'm like, man, this
looks like it's going to be a blood bath if
the Raiders are even a fraction of what I expect
them to be. You know, they're going to move from Hey,
they got a couple of nice pieces, but they're you know,

(05:37):
but they're a win to Those guys are going to
be competitive and challenge you. The Chargers swept us this year,
so I hope you're not overlooking the Chargers because they're
only going to get better. That was year one of
Jim Harball.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
And it's crazy you're thinking about in a fourteen division.
You're trying to fight to stay out of the cellar,
which is.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Unreal, right you and any if you were in the
you would rule the AFC South.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Oh my goll iron fished. I was like a decade
on comin.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
In the a f C South and in the last
you're like, I don't know for third or fourth in
this division before being honest and and and that that's
that's wild, but for a second or third or fourth.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
And the great part about it is that, okay, when
you think about the Raiders their rebuilding, they still.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Don't have their quarterback yet. The Broncos had theirs right
that that that that is kind of the centerpiece of
the puzzle.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
It really is.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
You already have it. He's on and Bonnig's on a
richie deal.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Now it's like, what else can we do to enhance
this meal we have sitting before us? When I look
at it, are either you putting heinds fifty seven on
it or you're putting cats up.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
And muscle on it? Which one are you doing? Because
one of them not working? Yeah? Yeah, wait, wait, why
am we putting? Why are we putt the sauce on
the steak? Anyway, if if we cook for right, we
don't eat sauce at all. I didn't even say that
was a stake.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Okay, it's crispying.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Well done.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
If Nick Ferguson's right, yeah right, just grill up. The
bottom of my shoe.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
I tell you what, I tell you what I like.
I like my players like you guys say, I like my.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
State Chrispy and tough as hell, Christy and tennis Hall.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
How about that? Oh man? See, I like my opponents
like I like my stick. How's that bleeding?

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Like hell? It's worse for both of us?

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Right well, I guess so right to get that blood,
I mean, you gotta force something out of him.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
You know what else is a rebuild right now? Switching sports?
Just the l a Lakers. We're gonna get the debut.
Look at tonight with the Lakers. By the way, it
fa they failed. Uh what's his name? Mark?

Speaker 4 (07:41):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Physical william Yeah, Mark Williams. And keep wanting to say Roberts,
And I know that's wrong. Every time Mark Williams on
his physical man that puts I'm gonna bind. I mean,
no big guys they.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Got, they got no big man they got, they got.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
No big Well, they're gonna have to have a small lineup.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
And that's if you look at it.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
If you're JJ Reddick, you can say, well, there have
been some teams that have made some playoff runs and
won championships with a small lineup. But you can't do
that all the time because it's going to exhaust a
lot of guys. And the first team I'll think about
I think about the Golden State Warriors when they had
the personnel to be able to go small, but the
only thing about them they were a great outside shooting team.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Now, are you gonna tell me that the Lakers will
be able to do that?

Speaker 4 (08:26):
We know Lucas could shoot, but that was one of
the problems with the Lakers. They have been for years.
I mean, they had Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, they was trying
to develop outside shooting.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
So yes, Gabe vincentruly, I mean, there's some of those
guys are have been you know, they've been up and down.
They're not consistent, but they can they have that ability.
You got one big guy Jackson. Is the only thing
I can think of here is you go to a
lineup that was like what the Phoenix Suns ran when
Mike d'An toni was doing that thing where Lebron's are big.
It was like they were running Stoutamyrus as the big

(08:58):
Sean Marion was running as the flu And then you'd
have you'd have Joe Johnson at the three they rotate
Leandro Barbosa and Rogert Belta two and Nash are in
the point. Like for me, this it feels like it's
gonna be. It would have to be one of those
up tempo, but your lineup is too old for that.
Lebron's not running a you know, a Mike d'An tony
seven seconds offense.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
No, it's not.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
But the D'Antoni offense, while it was great at putting
up points, it wasn't great at defending. So your offense
was your your defense, and there was a lot of
runouts against them, so teams were able to get out
and transition. So the first thing I thought about when

(09:40):
they added Luca and I guess the physical failed. I
was like, basically, the Lakers are in the same situation
the Nuggets are in, because that's been the Nuggets identity.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Like our offense is our defense.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
And can the Lakers with lebronze age be able to
push the pace like that, you know after the All Star.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Break, And I'm not sure they are. They do a
good job taking care of the basketball. They don't turn
it over very much. That's one of those things like
because because they are who they are, and they have
been an efficient basketball team. There's sixth in the league
and field goal percentage you know, on the year, but
they don't rebound well, they're twenty six and rebounding and
they've just been they've been sort of hit or miss.

(10:24):
Now they've won how many straight? With five straight?

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Six straight?

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Some'm the Nuggets, No, la, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
I know they've won at least five straight. Now I can't.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
I don't know how far back to the Street goes
off the top of my head, but I know they
want at least at least five straight. But they're you know, yeah,
I don't know that they can be an up tempo
team like that. And if you're going to play small ball,
you have to like that. That's how you negate that
as you tire out the bigs by by going up
up tempo, and so to me, that just seems like
a bit of a recipe for disaster, especially when you

(10:54):
get into a lengthy series. You might be able to
run people out the building, you know, at night in
night out, if you're if you're changing opponents, but eventually
your opponents are gonna figure out and if you're in
a series, they're gonna figure ou how to slow you
down five in a row by the way you are, okay,
and then what then you're gonna dump it inside all
of a sudden, Jackson Hayes is gonna be you know,
like like you're whoever their big.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Is, whoever your opponent's biggest is good about to.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Become those prolific inside scorer in playoff history once they
find out the one thing you got out there with
any kind of size to is Jackson Hayes, who's built
like a you know, an ironing board.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
Do you think, though, I was thinking about this after
I heard the trade was rescinded and Dalton Dalton Connect
was going back to the Lakers, do you think this
could be a blessing in disguise for the Lakers long
term if they can keep Connect with Luca. I mean,
do you think three or four years from now that's
gonna be a great duo.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
I like it, I mean I do.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
In fact, I was when they let go of Connect
to get the deal.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Don'd was like, oh, that's gonna bite them.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
But I got what they were trying to do is
push in while while turning the roster over, you know,
in point to the future.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
But you know, maybe maybe that works out for him.
Connects got a way to go. He's he's been you know,
he started off high, but he's been.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
In a slump you know, of late. You know, they
need to get him going again.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
I think Grant is onto something. And this is why
Rob the Lincoln made this move. The idea is not
for now, is for the future, and at some point
the Lakers will be able to find a big but
having that outside shooting and being able to spread the floor,
that's kind of what you know, the Sacramento did. That's
kind of what Golden State did and how they won

(12:28):
a lot of those titles that they were able to win.
But see, things are gonna get really interesting because on
February twenty second, the Nuggets played the host the Lakers,
and that's gonna be a fun game to watch and
we'll see because I don't think the Lakers gonna have
a big man at that particular time. And knowing how

(12:50):
I guess slow footed but athletic that Nicola Jokic is,
he's gonna be able to use his size and post up.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
And be able to distribute the ball.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
So that from from a from a Nuggets standpoint, we'll
get a chance to see on February second, what that's
gonna look like for the Nuggets facing the Lakers, and
what the Lakers gonna have to do because you're gonna
have to contend with Nicola Jokish, And let's be totally fair,
guys really doesn't make a difference who they play at
the center position because that guy's not gonna be able

(13:25):
to stop Nicola Jokis at all.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Yeah, I'm just trying to think of like anybody that's
available in free agency right now, Like, like, what are
you gonna go get Mobamba JaVale McGee?

Speaker 2 (13:35):
He does he have anything left in the tank?

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Now, you're just throwing bodies just for foul principles. That's it.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
I'm just I'm just putting you gotta have You have
to have a body because otherwise teams are gonna slow
you up and just pump it inside.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
McGee.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
I mean, at least can you know it with two
hundred and seventy pounds when he's at these days, I
mean he's.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
He can at least no, he's not chasing.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Nicolea out to the perimeter, but he can always keep
them out front of the basket.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Well, see that's the thing Nicolas as that perimedic game.
Now you got to come away from the basket, so
your rim protector.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Becomes a liability.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Yes, he can't be a rim protector. He's not grabbing
any boards.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
Yeah, here's some options from SI dot com after the
trade got rescinded.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Larry Nance Junior.

Speaker 5 (14:18):
No, no, that's been probably the biggest name on here.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Daniel Tye. Is that his name. He used to be
with the Celtics, big white guy.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Yeah, no, I miss me with that.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
PJ. Tucker. That might be one, but he's tiny, I
mean six '.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Eight No, too small.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
And then the last one on the list, Mobamba.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
I was just saying, like I'm just trying to think
of like guys that are available right now. Obama is
probably mean mcau he's oldest dirt too. I think Frank
Kaminsky out there is out there somewhere. It's seven foot forty.
Obama he's like seven foot two thirty give or take.
And I think he's like twenty six. He might still
be young enough, and he can you know that he
can get around. He's not gonna give you anything in
terms of scoring, but but he be able to rebound,

(15:01):
alter some shots.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
A warm body. That's all that's available. I mean, what
else are you gonna do?

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Okay, so if you once again are the Lakers, you're
gonna play this thing out. Let Lebron walk away and
what have you, and then look towards the remaining.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Of the season.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
After the season, it's okay, well, who can we go
out and trade for?

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Yeah? But what are you doing this season?

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Because this is probably, I mean, if not the last season,
it is certainly one of the last seasons of Lebron.
Are you gonna let him go out like that?

Speaker 4 (15:35):
Well, apparently Rob po Lincoln has already decided that because
he didn't conferred with Rich Paul Clutch, Sports, Anthony Davis
or Lebron.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
So the das Alda been.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Cast som back with Miami as saying, Lebron go to
Dallas to reunit.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
You know, as why does that sound?

Speaker 4 (15:56):
I wouldn't be surprised if something like that happens, right
and Lebron said, tade me to go to the.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
State or you know, funny enough, Cleveland's good.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
Now, maybe he'd actually play for him. It is there's
a place where the Brock can get a ring. Most
likely he going, He's going Coast Country night, got the
NFL six pack, We come back.

Speaker 6 (16:20):
Brian mcferguson grath Smith Top six, sixty nine zero use
the text line reading the debut of Luka Dancic and
with that, it's time for the NFL six pack.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
It's time for the NFL six pad.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
I'm going to insight and insight information you can't find
anywhere else.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
The top six NFL headline.

Speaker 7 (16:44):
What Well, we just went to see Eagles destroy the Chiefs,
but Kansas City's two garbage time touchdowns presented and prevented
them Rather from losing in one of the top ten
blowouts in Super Bowl history.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Largest margin victory in Super Bowl history came out the
eighty nine season, when the Niners beat the Broncos fifty
five to ten. Well, a series of lopsided Super Bowls
the NFL had in the eighties and nineties, most recent
Super Bowls been more competitive that today or Yesterday's game,
Rather was among the least competitive in the fifty nine
year history of the Super Bowl. She's falling behind thirty
four to nothing before scoring meetinglessly touchdowns to make the

(17:19):
final score forty twenty two.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Looks much more.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Competitive than it really was. The Broncos have the unfortunately
auspicious occasion of being on this list three times, getting
blown out in the aforementioned eighty nine season fifty five
to ten. The largest blowout I think everyone remembers Seahawks
forty three Broncos eight and twenty fourteen. The Broncos also

(17:41):
lost by thirty two points in nineteen eighty seven to
Washington forty two to ten. They've never been on the
winning side of one of those, but three of the
most lopsided Super Bowls?

Speaker 4 (17:52):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (17:52):
Would you rather make the Super Bowl and get.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Blown out or not make the Super Bowl at all?

Speaker 4 (17:57):
I rather make the Super Bowl and get out because
there are the teams that would never get there. I
know that sounds like a loser's mentality, but I'm fifty
to fifty or sixty forty a winner because I actually
made it to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Yeah, don't mean the case.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
I don't think that sounds like a loser mentality. You
want to be in the big game, regardless of how
it turns out. You want to be there. You want
to make it to the final final pairing.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
And you know what else, The Broncos have besides being
on that list three times, so three super Bowl championship.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
There you go two.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Fangio says the defensive effort exceeded his hopes and expectations.
The Eagles had Fangio working as a consultant when they
lost to the Chiefs in the last Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
They agreed to.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Move on because the Dolphins defensive coordinator before the team
knew Jonathan Gannon would lead to become the Cardinals head coach.
Sean Decide took over for Ganna got fired after one year,
while fangio stint in Miami didn't unfold as heat hoped.
Two sides were able to reunite with Fangio running the
defense for the Eagles in twenty twenty four, and it
turned out to be a case of better late than never.
The Eagles allowed the second fewest points in the regular season,

(19:00):
won the NFC, and then kick the Chiefs backside for
a forty to twenty two win in Super Bowl fifty nine.
Fangio's defense led the way with six sacks three takeaways,
including corner Cooper Dejin's picked six in the second quarter.
Did that without Fangio calling it a single blitz against Mahomes,
who was eight to zero against Fangio in their first
eight meetings. After the game, Fangio said the things played

(19:21):
out even better than he'd imagined, saying, quote, he's so
good against pressure that I hope we could just play
the game without having a pressure much And that happened,
Fangio said, exceeded my hopes and expectations. But I did
believe we could have a good pass rush game. It
turned out to be an understatement. Fangio can celebrate his
first Super Bowl title as a result. How I guess

(19:42):
happy are we for Vic Fangio.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
I'm definitely happy anytime someone can overcome narratives and I
guess potchlines and emerged victorious.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
How could you root against that?

Speaker 4 (19:56):
And then, more importantly, take Fangiel's defense definitely helped turn
the tie, along with Saquon Barkley and some plays.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
By Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
So at this particular point, they are this year's champion.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
And you gotta celebrate it.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
I mean, anyone that's saying you're looking to say negative
things about Vic fangs you at this point, man, you're
damn hater.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Let that man celebrate and let him.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
Go and pick his spaghetti and meatballs and just do
his thing.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
I'm with you, what's the over under on meatballs eaten
by Vic Fangio today.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Oh, that's a good question.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
It depends on how many sort of pops he can
sue last night.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
I'm going with.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Three. Three, Yes, three. The Eagles turned in a remarkable
defensive effort, as we've noted, pressuring Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes
all game without ever blitzing. The Eagles nut blitz on
a single one of mahomes dropbacks. According to the NFL's
Next Gen Stats, that is an extraordinarily rare occasions since
Next Gen Stats has existed. This is only the fourth

(21:02):
time that a defense did not blitz in a game.
The Eagles generates so much pressure, the defensive line dominated
the Chiefs offensive line. Josh Wet had two and a
half sacks, Milton Williams had two, George Davis had won,
Moro Jomo had won.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Jelex hot and a half a sack. Six sacs are
the most Homes.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Has ever taken in any game in his NFL career, ever,
regular season or postseason. We've we've talked about this sort
of before and how Vic Fangel's blueprint had sort of
taken over the NFL's people are trying to replicate that
throughout the league.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
The Broncos zigged and everybody else agged. Right. You brought
in vest Joseph. You're doing something.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Wildly different where you are trying to generate as much
pressure as you can and put your corners on an
island and cover the middle of the field. Vic Fangio
doing the opposite, trying to send the least amount of people.
He needs to drop everybody back, leave the middlefield open.
You usually gotta see C two, C four, C six,
you know, mixed match and kind of quarters match coverage.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
It's interesting that you have.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
These two dueling defensive philosophies and both of them seem
to work. I mean, the Broncos defense was very good
this year, the Eagles defense quite good as well. Which
one of theses you think is going to take.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Hold in the league next.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Well, I would say what we've seen from Vic Fangio,
because once again we go back to the fact that
Tampa Bay did the same thing, and Ben is real
simple football. The idea is keep the quarterback contained, don't
line him to get outside the pocket, force him to
step up and then when he steps up, have someone
waiting their form because Patrick Mahomes was just kind.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Of scrambling and dare I say he didn't mention this,
but he.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
Looked like Sam Donald when Sam Donald said he was
seeing ghosts, because that's exactly what I thought that Patrick
Mahomes doing based on these movements. So the ideas keep
it the same. You just need to have a multitude
of edge rushers who are disciplined to sound in their technique,
and then force a quarterback to.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Be a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
If you can force those tackles like inward, you know,
you take the pocket. If you can force us, that's
that appears to be the key to beating Pat Mahomes.
We're gonna get into that more to mar that's gonna
be Yeah, we got dissertations on that tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
But this is the this is the teaser for that
year in the city.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
The Eagles are the betting favorites to it next year's
Super Bowl. After winning, they are the favorites. The Eagles
have opened plus six hundred favorite to win the twenty
twenty six Super Bowl via DraftKings. Behind the Eagles a
three way tie with the Chiefs, Bills, and Ravens all
at plus seven hundred. The Decks are the Lions at
plus one thousand, followed by the Niners at plus sixteen hundred,

(23:34):
Commanders Packers and Commanders that packed at eighteen hundred Bengals
plus two thousand.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
Oday.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
I fought you did mission. The Rams and Chargers are
both at plus twenty eight hundred. The Texans are plus
three thousand, and the Broncos, who opened at plus twenty
eight hundred, have fallen to plus thirty five hundred. I
don't know why. The numbers I had earlier today they
were their numbers for shorter so that's weird because they
were tied with the Rams earlier. The Broncos are tied,
and then right behind them the Vikings and the Bears

(24:02):
plus plus four thousand, the Seahawks, Steelers, Falcons, Dolphins and
Cowboys plus sixty five hundred, Cardinals plus seven thousand, Patriots
plus eight thousand, Jags plus ten thousand, Raiders and Colts
plus eleven thousand, Jets, Panthers plus thirteen thousand, the Saints
and Browns plus fifteen thousand, and the two teams with
the longest odds are the Tennessee Titans and the New

(24:23):
York Giants at plus twenty thousand. That means a few
bet one hundred dollars you would win twenty grand if
either one of those teams went on to win the
Super Bowl? Is there any.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
Value in here?

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Any teams you see that you put money on? I
know where my money's gone. One hundred bucks on the
Bengals two thousand.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
What'd you say?

Speaker 1 (24:42):
They are plus two thousand. The Bengals are at plus
two thousand, hundred dollars to win two thousand. There we go.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
You know what the big odds is that.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
The Eagles could right it back, because when you think
about what they're losing, I mean they're gonna lose Josh Sweat,
Brandon Graham obviously, I mean he's up there in so
I figured that this was going to be his last
season with them anyway. And Makai Becta, who the Jets
drafted in first round and they moved him to guard.
So when you think about it, I mean, Howie Roseman
is not going to have a very difficult job this

(25:13):
off season trying to keep the team intent. With exception
of a couple of odd the guys, if you keep
Sweat and you can bring back zag bond that would
change things. So this is where Philly phil as though
they should have been and known as though they lost
to Kannessee in twenty twenty two, they're figured right, they're
right in the mix to run it back.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Yeah, looking at these, I'm not you know, there's not
a whole lot that I'm I think are great odds.
I mean, most of these these follow along. I don't
see anybody that's that's back there in an area where
you're like, I don't know, I might take a flyer
on somebody like Dallas, just because you know, you never
know what everybody's hating on the Brian shots already.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
What you're gonna take a flyer, Dallas, I might.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
Take a flyer those odds plus sixty five hundred whatever.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
You know, if I'm looking for it, I'm looking for
a deep shot here.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
I'm looking a long shot. You know, out of all these,
the long shot that that feels like the long shot
that is.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
I don't think the Jazz is the longest.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
I don't think the Jags, Patriots, Raiders, Colts, Jets, Panthers, Saints, Browns, Titans,
or Giants are making it. This group right here with
the Seahawks, Steelers, Falcons, Dolphins, and Cowboys are all at.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Plus sixty five.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Hunter, I could see one of those teams, you know,
in that range, We'll see. I don't know anyway, I
just thought i'd ask you guys that question.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Five.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
Travis Kelsey is not addressed publicly it's possible retirement yet.
In the hours leading up the reports that he remains
undecided about playing next season, and some of his teammates
believe that he could retire, though Kelsea said in the
past he plans to continue playing, but he didn't have
anything new to say about his future. Kelsey answered a
few questions in the team's locker room before leaving, none
of them had anything to do with those reports. Elsey's

(26:44):
future hung on over some comments from his teammates wide
receiver Zavior Worth. They noted, it might be my last.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Time playing with so his teammates, it might be the
last game.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
Malmes said something similar before being asked by Kelsey specifically,
Mame said, I'll let Travis make that decision on his own.
He's given so much the team, the NFL. You can
see the place that he makes the biggest moments. But
if he wants to put in that grind. I know
he still has love for the game. He has to
make that decision on his own, but he knows he's
welcome back here with open arms. Kelsey past Jerry Rice
for the most career receptions in the Super Bowl, and

(27:12):
it remains to be seen if his four catches are
the last ones of his career. You guys think Travis
Kelcey coming back or no.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
It all depends on what his outside non football opportunities are.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
I mean, he hosted a game show.

Speaker 4 (27:27):
It was a lot of these show well yeah, and
then he was in a lot of those state farm commercials,
so that could change. No mahomes in the auto so
that's gonna change a lot of things. But he has
something that a lot of players at the tail end
of their career don't have at this stage is option.
So he's gonna make the best decision. He's got some
time to think about it. Obviously he's frustrated.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
But for me, if I'm him, he's done enough and.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
He could just walk away, I don't think he's leaving
with that bad blood. He's gonna come back one more years,
running back one more time. I also don't forget he's
going to be apparently and water boy or no Happy
Gilmore too. So he's got his acting career on the
side here, he's got Taylor Swift's tours around the world.
But I think he runs it back one more year
with Pat Mahome and see if they can make one

(28:13):
more epic run together.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
So you're saying that this is a is a love story,
and Apholmes is saying that you belong with me, that
he should be fearless to return, that he's got that
style to come back as the anti hero.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
See you're picking up what I'm putting down. I was
trying to squeeze Willow in there and I just couldn't
do it. Six. Oh, let's talk about something else. Saints
expected to have interest and hire Brandon Staley as their
defensive coordinator. They haven't officially hired Kellen Moore yet as
a new head coach, but that will happen. The team

(28:47):
has interested Brandon Staley as their defensive coordinator. Saints obviously
have to comply with the ruin it rule before hiring Staley.
More with Staley's offensive coordinator with the LA Chargers back
in twenty twenty three, So Staley being his defensive coordinator
makes sense at the number one defense with the Rams
in twenty twenty, which he parlayed into the Chargers head
coaching job at twenty one. There's three seasons. Staley went
twenty four and twenty four with no playoff wins. The

(29:09):
last season is the assistant head coach of the forty
nine Ers. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN's reporting that the Saints
also have potential interest in Bucks outside linebackers coach George
Edwards for the position. But we think about Brandon Staley
as the possible defensive coordinator for the Saints.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
Well, it's familiarity and the fact is that he hired
Killen Moore one favor returns another and giving Staley an
opportunity to position himself if the Saints were to do
well enough in a couple of years where his name
could be back and that cycle, that head coaching cycle.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
So it's good for him.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
Man.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
Like I said, I'm always rooted for people to have jobs.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
I don't like the idea of being unemployed. Yeah, in
me too.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
I'm not gonna you know, I don't I sn't gonna
wishi any ill will or anything like that. It's just
fascinating if they do bring him to this Saints. I
mean that is a total rebuild there in New Orleans.
They're not going to be competitive for at least two years.
But that defense is not built for what Staley runs.
You know, Stale runs a thirty four. It's a tight
front and it's what Vic runs.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
He runs a.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
Similar to what Vick runs. And they're coming off the
Dennis Allen defense, which is a four man front. The
you know, four to three. The personnel, most of the
personnel are not really a fit for what it is
that you would be running.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
But this is on the front seven.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
This is perfect then for both Kellen Moore and Brandon
Staley with the idea that you get like six year
contracts and then also no one as though when you
look at the salary cap, the Saints are at the bottom.
So now it gives Stalen opportunity to shed some weight,
cut some salaries, bring some younger, cost effective guys in there.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
To now read two of his defense. Most most of
these guys are gonna be back.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
But you have to cut Derek Carr, you have to
cut Tation Hill, you have to cut cam Jordan and
you have to cut urmccoy, like you have to cut
those four guys to get just to get CAP compliant,
and those are the only guys who have double digit
CAF savings.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
Well, I guess you got to pull out against you
and get you.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
With people with the same salad.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
Yes, And that's gonna be a fascinating sort of rebuild
there all the way around. And I I sources heard
that the New Orleans Saints might be interested in drafting
Jackson Dart. Really something to keep your eye on, because
they're gonna have to move on from Like I said,

(31:37):
they're gonna have Rattler and Hayn on the on the roster.
I'd be interested in Jackson dartis the quarterback there that
that might be something the offense. I mean, even if
you give up Taysom Mill and Eric McCoy, you still
have enough pieces there. You got Rashid Shih, you got
Crystal Lave, you got all this scantling. Of course, Alva
Kamar is still under contract there, and you've got a
couple of other running backs there. They're I mean, you know,

(31:57):
Foster Moreau is still there. They've They've still got a
few pieces on the offensive side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
So it's gonna be like the Walmut Walmart roll back pacing. Huh, well,
I'm gonna be rolling back those four.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
I don't think they can move on from any other
players because most of them are would be a negative cat.
It would accelerate cap money on the if they was
another player.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
You're releasing guys and you're restructuring. There's no room to restructure.
They used it.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
This is the problem anyway, talks about those voidable years
that Sean Payton and then you used back then, and
why not to use them now? There's no room to
restructure any of those contract any of these contracts. Just
not this.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
This sounds like a bunch of spicy gumbo. Yeah this
as well. This is the mess that that they left
them in.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
And so now you know now you're gonna have to
it's gonna be a two year rebuild, and it's gonna
be a painful two year rebuild on the defensive side,
because you really can't. You're switching probably philosophies with a
bunch of people that don't play that style of defense.
So to see how it works to getting back into
it with you tomorrow, Nick, Well, Thursday, I get to
Seles basketball tomorrow. Bucks Country to Night goes on.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
I like my players, like you guys say. I like
my state kristy.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
And tough and see. I like my opponents like I
like my stick.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
How's that bleeding?

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Like hell?
