Speaker 1 (00:00):

the text line. You guys want to get involved in
the conversation. Thank you to Ricka Lewis, Cody Rourke, and
Zach Seegers for joining us early on evens.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Any part of that you go to broncos Country dot com,
slash podcast or where we each podcast. We're gonna go
right out to the can't wait commas Pel hotline and
bring on our friend from CBS, romy Bean, Robbie.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
How you doing this evening?
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Doing great? Sorry I was a little tardy, guys, we
got a little caught up in the the madness of March.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
I'm the same we got it on the TVs.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Here my bracket, I'm leading the office pool. I talked
a lot of smack all week. Uh so I need
my bracket not to go to tatters here. Uh in
the uh you know, in in the interim, so far, so.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Good I am.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I am on my hogs tonight, of course, and then
uh I need Arizona to beat Duke, so we'll see,
we'll see what happens there.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
That's so good about your hogs and not so much.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
We'll see, We'll see how it goes.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Also watching my parlay because I told it if they hit,
I told Grant, I'd give a mistake dinner at Del Frisco.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
So we're we're watching that. Bring me that lobster, MC
and teese.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Yeah, yeah, let's make it happen. Last night the Nuggets.
You know, Yo Kitch is back and Yo Kitch is back.
I think we've all seen the pass as we watch
this Nuggets team, and it's been hit or miss this year.
Having Yokich back out there is obviously huge for them.
(01:28):
But what is going to be the key for this
team if they're going to make a serious run?
Speaker 3 (01:33):
And I think the biggest thing is consistency, which is
that's kind of a hard that's the one thing that
we really kind of laxed from the Nuggets when but
is consistency. But the big thing too is, you know,
coming out of the All Star breaks they have a
great record. They also have barely any of games since
the All Star Break where all five starters have played together.
(01:55):
The one thing I'm not worried about though, is the
chemistry with that group. So so that's I think real positive.
I think the most important thing is health with this
Nuggets team, and they've I think something clicks maybe for
Michael Malone. We've all known he's had a tendency to
play his starters all year along not really do the
load management, which of course is fans we appreciate. But
(02:18):
you know, Nicoli Erkuch having being forced to sit out
for five games for ten days, and Malone kind of
joked last night like, Okay, you know, maybe I should
sit him, But to see what Yokic looked like when
you did give him a little rest and he came
back and looked incredible. This is Malone's kind of been
forced to rest a lot of his starters, and I
think he might continue to rest them the rest of
(02:39):
the way because.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
That's that's going to be.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
The big thing is health. And I do think MPJA
is going to be a big factor. Obviously, he's been
in quite a shooting swump. He was great last night
in the first half five or five and three. Then
you didn't really hear from him again until really late
in the second half. So what do you get from
Michael Porter Junior. He has to be You're got to
be the third best guy, you know, on the on
(03:03):
the floor after Jamal and Jokic, and so that's going
to be a big X factor for me. And the
final thing is defense. I think when you go back
to the championship team, I think they were a little
grittier on defense. You know, you had KCP and so
it was a little bit different defensively. But we've seen
this team when they do put that effort for its
defensively and then they played an offensive games. They're just
(03:26):
offensive juggernaut. They really can beat everybody. So it's going
to be consistency event. Can you consistently play you know,
both ends of the floor for seven games or however
long each series is. And if they do that, I
think they have the potential to make a serious run.
I've always maintained, you know, if Yoki is out there,
they always got a chance. It's just it's just too good.
(03:47):
But consistency would be a big word for me.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
Yeah, And romy sticking with the Nuggets for a second,
and specifically Nikola Jokicic thirty nine, ten and ten last night,
his thirtieth triple double of the season, owning only Welt Chamberlain,
Oscar Robertson and his now teammate Russell Wilson as players
to do so in NBA history. If you're making the
case for the Joker and the MVP race of course
(04:12):
is coming down to him and SGA. What is your
selling point for him to get us fourth MVP?
Speaker 3 (04:18):
I mean, you know, the thing is, it's just it's crazy.
There's nobody like him. Obviously, we sure we might be
a little biased here, but when you look at the
way that he makes everyone better around him, you know,
I've always maintained MVP the most valuable player is the
person that makes everyone around him better. And look at
the Nuggets with and without kolok I mean, it's undeniable.
(04:40):
They are They're almost unrecognizable without him. They are a
team that without him cannot make a run. They are
a team without him that, you know, are you even
afraid of in the playoffs? This is the guy who
makes every single player around him so much better, and
he elevates everybody around him. Take all the numbers out
of it, you know, he this is a guy who
(05:01):
still there's he doesn't play with any All Stars, right,
and he consistently makes everyone who's ever on the floor.
Jokic looks like an All Star player and so for me,
it is what he does with everyone around him. It's
his passes, it's the way he incorporates everyone, and it's
the way the teams just can't defend him, you know.
And I just think that, like when we go back
(05:23):
ten years from now, twenty years from now, and you're
gonna look at the numbers and you're gonna say, how
is this guy not the MVP? How is this even
the discussion. Voter fatigue, I think is such a real thing,
and it's really silly, and it's no disrespect to SGA.
He's a great player, you know, and he certainly deserves
to be in a conversation. But I think when between
looking at the numbers and between looking at how Jokic
(05:45):
elevates this team, it's just shouldn't be a question.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
I'm with you on that, And I hope that we
don't get the voter fatigue thing it obviously costs, you know,
or the stupid you know thing like we're embiid got
it and we can give it to him for years
in a row because that's Jordan or whatever.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
If he earned the yard, like you know, that's that's
the way it should be.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
We shouldn't have all these these stupid other rules that
we sort of, you know, utilize in an effort to
work around and tie ourselves into metal metal pretzels in
not giving the guy who deserves at the MVP. Talking
with Roby Bean from CBS, Broncos over under came out
today from esp and bet at nine and a half wins.
That is the fourth best total in the AFC. What
(06:26):
do you think of the Broncos suddenly being the favorites?
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, how about them apples? You know, it's one of
those things. Last year, I think they liked that people
picked him at five and a half and you know,
that was a nice little chip they had on their
shoulder that you know, nobody thinks we're going to do anything,
you know, watch us do something. So they're gonna have
to find different motivation this year, for sure. But I
think that when you look at what they did in
(06:50):
pre agency, when you look at the expectations. We talked
about this a lot with you know, bo Nix and
will he have a sophomore slumper or won't you But
I'm betting that he won't. And so but when you
look at the moves that they made, I think in
free agency they solidified so many key pieces, and you know,
you keep circling back to the defense, and I think
that the defense. There's no holes in this defense right
(07:12):
now the way I look at it, if everybody stays healthy.
So for me, that has the power for the Broncos
really to be powerful all year long. I have so
much confidence in this defense, and I think we're going
to see a lot of growth from the offense and
some key pieces and hopefully we get that key running back.
But I think for me, the defense is the big reason.
(07:32):
Plus I think we're going to see the growth of
go nicks of why this team can easily cover that.
It's kind of fun. Then it's been a long time.
They say, oh, look at that Broncos nine and a half,
But I feel like double digit wins easily attainable.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
For this team.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Sticking with the Broncos, ROMI and you mentioned that there's
really no holes on that defensive roster now, and Mina
chimes on her podcast earlier this week said after the
free agency moves by the Broncos, she doesn't really see
any holes on this roster at all, And I think
is as high on the Broncos as we are here
in Broncos Country. You mentioned the running back position. Would
(08:06):
you like to see them address that in the draft
or would you like them to see them go in
free agency and add a veteran running back or do
you want to see them do both?
Speaker 3 (08:16):
You know, I'm okay with either. I just I love
this draft class. I think there's so many options. I
think it's a really deep running back draft class. So
I don't think that you have to you know, they
won't have to particularly reach for some really really talented piece.
So I don't mind them going and getting somebody in
free agency as well. That can be you know, excuse
(08:38):
maybe a little bit of a piece there. But you know,
I'm also hopeful for the growth of guys. I guess
to me, I think you can take a big step
up this year. And so I'm I'm kind of king
in on the draft just because I think that there's
so many options. But look, there's a good free agent,
if there's a good guy in free agency, I'm not
oppose to that either either. I'll take both. I'll be greedy.
(08:59):
Why not guys?
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Tyby with Robbie Bean from CBS. Robbie, is there a player?
Excuse me? Is there a player that you really just
have a draft crush on. Is there somebody that you
want the Broncos to come away with?
Speaker 2 (09:08):
And if you guys obviously Mary and Hampton, Now everybody's
kind of projecting that Mason Taylor somebody I really like.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
I feel like that could happen on Day two.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
But is there somebody out there you just really want
the Broncos to come away with in this draft?
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Oh gosh, that's so. I do like a lot of
the backs. I mean, you know, obviously everybody's who's not
excited about Ashton gent.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
That'd be awesome.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Then you could just stay a Bronco, could stay in
Orange and Blue. But but no, you know, then there's
a lot of other guys. You know, I really like
to Hampton. Obviously, everybody's excited about Henderson. I think he's great.
I like Jalan Sampson as well. I think there's just
a lot of variety in this running back drag class.
And I honestly feel like, whoever the Broncos ticket running back,
(09:47):
I'll probably just say, yes, that was the one I
wanted for sure. You know. I like Karen Ferguson as well,
out as the tight end a little bit a guy
who can get a little bit later. Has got that
connection with Throwe Nicks, and obviously he's got a Colorado
connection as well, so I like him as well. And
you know, those are kind of the obvious names. Love
Loveland also obvious name. But I think any of those
(10:08):
really would be a great fit. And as you mentioned
with what Mina Kaim said, it's you know, I just
got to kind of get one of these guys, which
is an exciting proposition for where the Broncos are at
compared to you know, where they have been, you know,
in years past.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
Well, another obvious Colorado connection Shader Sanders.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
I mean you can see him.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
You know, some people are saying the Giants are in
love with him at number three, but also there's stories
about him possibly falling into the late first round in
the NFL draft coming up here. In April, you sat
down with Shadr multiple times with Coach Prime on your
on your weekly show. What can you tell us about
Shaudur as a player but also just as a young man.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Yeah, you know, I personally like I get the Shador
hate because it's the same as the Bestanders hate. But
I'm a fan of Sudore standers. I think that getting
to you know, sit down with him both all my
show and also him postgame, just you know, doing his media,
you know, pressers and interviews is I think for me,
it's it's Shoudore the person. He's very mature, he's very
(11:09):
he doesn't get rattled. You know, everything's kind of water
off a duck stack. And he's a great leader, right.
You know, there's been I think a lot of false
accusations of his leadership, and you know what kind of
a leader he is. He's a great leader, and his
teammates adore him, and he knows, I think, really how
to lead a team. He wants to be the guy
that changes the franchise and people getting their feathers ruffled
(11:31):
that you know, he rubbed people the wrong way. It's like, okay,
well name me a starting quarterback that isn't cocky and
confident and so sure of himself because you can't find
me one that a good starting quarterback in the NFL.
All right, So he ensured his abilities and he should be.
And I just I think he's got the intangibles and
I think as a person, he knows what it takes.
And I'm a big fan of Shador and certainly rooting
(11:55):
for his success. And I think all on the field too,
there's stuff that sure. The biggest thing is along for me,
how long he held on to the ball. He acknowledges
that that was an issue for him and he said
he's fixing it. So you know that certainly has to
be fixed. But his accuracy, you know, his feel for
the game is I just you know, I think that
(12:16):
it is the season of posturing. It is the season
I'm trying to knock kid down, which is funny, but
I'm all in for Shonore to have a very successful career.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Talking with romy Bean from CBS Buff spring game pro
day coming up.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Nico and I will be out there at the pro day,
But the spring game could be something interesting here is
this is going to be I think the first time that.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
CEU has had an opponent for.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Sort of the controlled scrimmage and something that I think
college football will probably pivot toward. We've certainly seen the
NFL pivot towards having these scrimmages like this.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Why hasn't college football done this before? And do you
think that this is going to be a good thing
for CEU.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
I think this is just absolutely fantastic. I mean, I
think it's one of those things that every other team
is going to want to start doing. I mean, we
see this every year at training camp, and it's it's
the best part of training camp. It's the best part
of training camp for the fans. But it's more importantly
for the players for the coaches to really evaluate where
your team's at because when they're playing, when you're playing
your own teammates, right, you're not always going full. You
(13:18):
don't want anybody to get hurt. You can't get a
real good sense of what you got until you see
them going up against somebody else. And I think in
college is to have the opportunity to do that before
the regular season. It is just it should have been
done a long time ago. But this is why Dean
Sanders is so good for college football, because he's the
one person that's going to come out and be vocal
(13:38):
and push for a great idea that I'm sure other
coaches have spoken about, but he uses his platform to
speak about it, and I think the benefit is going
to be great. I think tons of teams are going
to catch on. I don't know why they wouldn't, And
it's a great experience for all the kids on the
team and for the coaches to evaluate figure out what
you really have.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Yeah, is this the great gatest thing to come together
on Twitter since Shilo Kio tweeted Wade Phillips for a job.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
I forgot about the Shilo Kiow. That's a blast, what
a name, what a blast in the past. I love that,
But I appreciate people, you know, ingenuity. But yeah, you
know what, then I'm gonna have to go with the
yes on that one.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
Yeah, Fran Brown reaching out on Twitter after prime put
it out there and it comes together, and you know,
obviously now Syracuse and coloradn have this.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Bringame, Robbie. We appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Taking the time out tonight and go back and enjoy
some March madness and whoopicks.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
So we let's see them hogs win.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Huh oh. Yeah, good luck with your bracket.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
So far, so good. I'm one of the office pool.
I talked a lot of smack a whole week. So bye.
By tomorrow it could be in tatters and I could
be embarrassed. I love it, respect it all right, We'll
take care and we'll catch up again soon, you guys.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
All right?
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Rum being from CBS Rocco's Country Tonight here on KOA.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
We got an NFL SIXPEC coming up here in a
little bit five six six nine zeros text line.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
I have a few texts coming in there.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
I don't know about Lance zero Lions mock draft, so
I can't comment on that.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Somebody asks what at Perry brings to the table skill
set wise? Can he fill Courtland sutton shoes? I think
he's got a long way to go. He's certainly a
big body guy. I think they look at him more.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Ash maybe filling the little Jordan Humphrey role.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
I know, you know, obviously they got Sherfield and Ingram
and all that kind of stuff. But I think he's more,
you know, I think there's more of a let's work
with him and see what we got, rather than thinking
that he's the successor to Courtland Sutton, where they do
view Devon Valet as possibly potentially being that guy. So
(15:44):
you know, we'll see, uh, we'll see how that shakes out,
us see what else we got here. The Nuggets are
thought to be a powerhouse, with one trip past the
second round of the playoffs and eight non bubble seasons.
You know, I can't argue with that. I think that
that that with this year, I think that making it
to the Western Finals or or further is kind of
(16:05):
the mandate.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
I think you you know, you you put this thing.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Together, You're in the window, and I think you've got
to make a deep run this year. Uh, And I
think you've got to go with it from there, and
you know, and make it further than you've made it
in recent years.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Otherwise they may look at and maybe trying to blow
this thing up. Rouccles Country to Night's got the NFL
six pack. We come back.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
Free tonight, Benjaminal, Brian Grant Smith here with you in
the heat of March madness. I six six nine zero is.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
The text line. Zack Sieger's coming in here to do
the NFL six pack.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
It's time for the NFL six pad. I'm going to
trink a lot here, insight and insight information you can't
find anywhere else. The top six NFL headlines.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
What starting off here with Colts GM.
Speaker 6 (16:54):
Chris Ballard, who in the Colts in House free Agency
you know behind the scenes documentary, said that the team
targeted targeted Daniel Jones because of his similar play style
to Anthony Richardson, what do you make of that comparison.
Do you see the similarity between the two or do
you think this is just blip service.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
No, absolutely see the similarity. Daniel Jones is a better
athlete than people give him credit for. He can move
with his legs and he's at his best throwing vertically,
which I think we all seen and Anthony Richardson, that's
not the only thing he can do.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
So I sort of get what they're saying there. I
believe that to a degree.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
I would not call them clothes of each other, but
there are similarities to their games.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Or for Daniel Jones is gonna be, you know, probably
the last opportunity for him.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
It is a guy that's got to get the fumbeling
under control, the turnovers under control.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
You know.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
If he can do that and he can find the
kind of protection to settle down around out his game,
he could be a decent quarterback. But man, it was
rough up there at New York and hoping that the
Minnesota rehab tour work for him.
Speaker 6 (17:50):
I think the running points a great one. I didn't
think about the deep passing one either, but that's that's
a really strong one. I gotta say, though, I think
Justin Fields could have been an even better, you know,
analog for Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
I think the problem is he was just two in demand.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Well, I think the problem there is they already got
one quarterback to can throw and Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
They didn't need to patch the clone. Yeah, what were
to mexic cant throw?
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Two?
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Zero plus zero is still zero?
Speaker 5 (18:18):
Well, you know what the biggest similarity between Daniel Jones
and Anthony Richardson. They're both not very good at quarterback
in the NFL. I haven't been so far.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
I was surprised when Ben didn't make that joke. I
thought that's from about I felt like you were lobbing
it a whole little bit. I had to let it go.
Speaker 6 (18:34):
Hallmark announced today that they'll be bringing back their NFL
themed holiday special for a sequel in twenty twenty five.
Last year, they had the Kelsey Taylor Swift inspired Holiday
Touchdown at Chief's Love Story. This year, they announced or
they announced that this year they will have Holiday Touchdown
a Bill's Love Story. What do you make of the
NFL's partnership with Hallmark and is Derek Taylor's status as
(18:58):
the unquestioned go Now in jeopardy.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Am I supposed to know who he is?
Speaker 1 (19:03):
He's only the best wide receiver in the world. Nine
time MVP. He holds the longest records for the yards received.
He holds the record for longest yards received.
Speaker 6 (19:13):
Yeah, the longest Reford yard receiver, MVP wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah, he's the I'm the Player of the year. What
m VP and wide receiver?
Speaker 6 (19:22):
But now they got to make the new guy on
the Bills even dreamier and hunk. Here is this guy
gonna be a thirteen time MVP at defensive tackle. I
worry about Derek Taylor's what I thought was unquestioned status
as to go.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Maybe Derek Taylor's coming back with the Bills.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
He's gonna be comeback Player of the Year after some
debilitating injury.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
Ooh, I like, I mean, poor girl in the first one.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
I'm just saying, you know, they didn't their love story
ultimately didn't work out.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
This is daylor second chance. Did you guys actually watch
the first one?
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Now?
Speaker 1 (19:48):
I know, I know I was aware of that one clip.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Though everybody's aware that clip because it's like this utterly
ridiculous that a wide receiver would be like a nine
time MVP at a one a two time MVP.
Speaker 6 (19:58):
Okay, but he does have the longest right good for
yards receiving yards received yards?
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Do you receive him via post?
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Like?
Speaker 1 (20:06):
I will say though around Christmas time.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
I used to be a Hallmark movie hater because you
just know exactly what's coming. But there is something nostalgic
about it around the holidays.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Oh yeah, nice, warm, fuzzy.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
I mean, I guess I don't really, I don't need
does that channel? I don't have that channel, so I
couldn't tell you. I may I may have the Hallmark channel.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
I've never I've never done that. I like that, said
Kes fun of him. Yes he's in four on and
the works. Yes he's works. We're looking forward to that
big fancy tend.
Speaker 6 (20:34):
Last all the show, Deon Sanders attempted to clear up
some of the worries that he will interfere with Shador
Sanders draft landing spot come draft day by saying, Chador
has told me he's talked to me intently about all
the visits he's had with all the teams, so I
know where his heart is, I know where he wants
to go if it's new York, it's New York, if
it's Tennessee, if it's Cleveland, if it's still the Raiders,
(20:55):
if it's New Orleans, if it's any of those teams
that are seeking a quarterback, I'm happy with it. And
because I know what he's going to do to the organization.
Do you believe that Dion's.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Going to be happy go lucky no matter where should
or lands? And where do you think Shador wants to go?
Speaker 2 (21:11):
As Dion was alluding to there, I mean, I think
he wants to go number one, you know. I think
that's I think that's the thing could be in for
his line in this draft. A lot of the stuff
i'm here lately could be could be in for his lib.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
We'll see.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
I think he hit all the teams that are interested there.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
You'll notice Pittsburgh is omitted, and you know, it's it's
interesting because New York could be kinted.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Twice there, just saying I don't know that Dion would
be happy with certain things.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
But I think he's trying to say the right things
at this point because it's sort of been intimated to
him that he sort of needs to say the right
things at this point that there are people that have
concerns or that it might be a little worried about
helicopter dad kind of type stuff there. So, I I
think he'll be happy to see his son in the league,
(21:58):
and I think he'll adjust if.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
It's a team that he doesn't like.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
But I would say that this is more pr than honesty.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
I think the teams are going to be able to
see through that too. I mean, this is the time.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
This is lion season for both sides of the question, right,
It absolutely is. I mean again, this is what you say.
At this point, we're getting down to it. Everything gets
nitpicked and that's the way it's going to be for.
Speaker 6 (22:25):
Last year's Broncos free agent signing, Josh Reynolds has signed
with the New York Jets today on a one year deal.
Do you think Reynolds could be in store for a
bounce back season in New York? And do you think
this could maybe push Alan Lazard out of the Jets
offense and maybe into Denver.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Maybe that's a possibility.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
And if Alazard came available as a low cost.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Free agent, I think the Broncos would be interested.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
And they've certainly pursued him twice already and not landed him,
whether that's for their betterment or not. As far as
Jashuna having a bounce back, I mean, he's kind of
just a guy. A little bit of issue with dropsis
obviously you're going to have to have a minder for him,
somebody to keep an eye on him in the night
life there in New York. As we saw what happened
(23:09):
here at Denver, Willis, I'll get the best of you.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Yeah, you know you you.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
I just think that they don't have a ton of
weapons there or anyway. You got one guy, really, you know,
if you're a bit honest in that receiving core, that's
really worth a darn. Darren Moodie obviously is very familiar
with what Josh Reynolds brings to the table, and I
think you're just trying to stack bodies at this point
to get to have something viable on offense for the
terrible quarterback you're about to roll out to people's bleeding eyes.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
I mean, I think Justin Fields is going to be
great this year. I find great. He's not gonna be great,
but he's gonna be better than he was. It would
be hard to be worse. I think Justin Field is
going to have a good year too. Seekers. Yeah, what
do you guys think he'll put a steak then.
Speaker 3 (23:58):
Or on it? Well?
Speaker 1 (23:58):
What what? What's the That's what I'm asking you. What's
the parameters? Better than Russ? I'll say better than Russ.
I mean that's because again I don't know. I'll say
he wasn't better than Russ last year? How about this? Fair?
Speaker 5 (24:12):
Twenty touchdowns passing, ten interceptions, ten rushing touchdowns, twenty touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
The thirty total touchdowns is pretty much okay, But the
interceptions then go. It doesn't matter how.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
I don't care about your saying. Way to hit thirty
combined touchdowns?
Speaker 5 (24:32):
Okay, clip it five.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
I'm just saying, what's up, guys.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Russell Wilson here quarterback in New York Giants. Man, I'm so
excited to be here, and let's make sure we make
this happen. Let's see whatever it takes. Go big Blue,
Go big Blues. That's not as bad as a let's ride.
Uh sorry.
Speaker 6 (24:51):
Russell Wilson said that he expects to be the starting
quarterback for the Giants and that he'll be ready to
rock and roll every day. I love that part of
the quote.
Speaker 5 (24:59):
Part of every night.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
How did you not appreciate that? Then?
Speaker 6 (25:07):
Is Wilson guaranteed that Week one starting job, or could
something like Wilson outperforming him in camp or them drafting
a quarterback at number three change that plan.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
If Russell Wilson is healthy, he will be the Week
one starter for the Giants.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
I'll say that.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
I even drafting a quarterback, I don't. I firmly believe
they will draft one, and I don't think that quarterback
will be the Week one starter for a reason. I
think that this front office and coaching staff knows that
everything that they're doing is fighting for their jobs in
the future, and I think they will slow roll out a.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Rookie in that scenario.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
So the only way is that Jameis Winston suddenly turns
from Jay Cutler into a viable quarterback and blows the
doors off.
Speaker 6 (25:52):
I also think this is a smart strategy for them
to try and save their jobs, just because you're getting
multiple bites at the Apple. Now you can put Russell
Wilson out there, try.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
And win some games. If that goes awry, you can
put the.
Speaker 6 (26:04):
Rookie out there, and all of a sudden, it doesn't
become about how many games, can we win? It's does
the rookie look promising, Because all of a sudden, if
the rookie quarterback looks great with Brian Dable, I don't
think you're firing him, and I think you're probably keeping
Shane around for hitting on two draft classes in a row.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Yeah, there's a lot of stuff up in the air at
this point, but I would say that based on the
conversations I've had, I knew that this was coming in
terms of the Giants taking multiple wax at the quarterback position,
and I would suggest that Russell Wilson will be the
Week one starter unless he's hurts called Big Glue six.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
In the seventh Sorry.
Speaker 6 (26:39):
ESPN has released a seven round hut draft for the
Denver Broncos. The Denver Broncos come away with a haul
of Miszoo wide receiver Luther Burden the third in the
first round, Ohio Sate running back Quinn Shawn Judkins in
the second round, Texas A and M defensive tack with
Shamar Turner in the third round, Texas center Jake Major
(27:00):
in the fourth round, South Carolina tight end Joshua with
Simon Western, Michigan cornerback the loall Cone and Minnesota edge
John Joyner in the sixth round. What do you think
of that hypothetical draft haul for the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
I think this would be an absolute loss. I'm gonna
be honest with you.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
I don't think any of these players are going to
wind up being Denver Broncos outside of maybe quin Shawn Judkins.
Luther Burden in the first round would be an f
like that would be.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Like, why why would you even do that? That doesn't
fit what they're trying to do.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
They've already got guys at the position that he would play.
Why would you have signed Evan Ingram if you planned
on drafting Luther Burden like that?
Speaker 1 (27:40):
You know, because Burden's a slot receiver. I think in
the NFL, I don't understand this. I don't understand the
obsession with with doing this. Lebroncos have been pretty.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Clear about where they're at with wide receivers, and you
can see by the guys they're bringing in what they
think of that they're looking at Day three guys like Tesla.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
And Jalen Royals and you know, guys like that that
are early day three type guys.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
I don't see a scenario where one of these players
outside of Judkins even is drafted by the Broncos. So
I would, with all due respect to Matt Beller, who
I have known for fifteen years, I would grade this an
F thang.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
Well, I'm kind of with you on Luther Burden. I
don't like the idea of him in the first round
at all. Are you out on him entirely or just
specifically for.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
The Broncos out on him entirely. There's multiple and it's
not just on the field.
Speaker 6 (28:23):
There's all field stuff too good to know there. And
then I like the idea of quin Shawn Judkins. I
think that one could be fun.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
I do. I do like that.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
I do like the idea of quinnchaw on Judkins, But
I you know, I mean, if you get if you
happen to give you, if you get Hampton or one
of these other guys, then that makes that kind of superfluous.
Speaker 6 (28:41):
The fact they're in on Uh or potentially in on
Tesla and Royals, though, is very exciting to me. I
think those are two of the more enticing kind of
mid late round receivers in this this Yeah, and I'm
going to make a prediction.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
I think Tesla winds up with the Titans. But in
terms of in terms of Royals, that sort of fits.
I mean, if you've seen what Sean Page drafted before
you you know with tray Quan Smith, Royle is kind
of kind of fits that mold Beteam between the numbers
type receiver, you know, with a little bit of speed,
a little bit of that.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Lessons in this game. I I that's one of those
ones to keep your eye on Royals out of Utah
State on day three, I would say, and he can fly,
I mean the world speed.
Speaker 6 (29:23):
It's not necessarily you know, I'm trying to think Jamison
Williams or something like that.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
He's not like there's a four or two speed, but
he's when he gets going, when he gets going in
the open field or if you know, after the catch,
he can be really really dangerous.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
And he's got some some bulk on him too, where
he can shake off some tackles.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
I would like that pick a lot.
Speaker 6 (29:43):
He'd be perfect in that Z receiver role that they
have avoid Right.
Speaker 5 (29:46):
Then, right, do you guys have any concerns about Tesla's battery?
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Oh my wow, could you just take my brain this evening?
And you're like, I'm good to make the worst puns.
There's growner puns possible.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
I just know, how about you?
Speaker 1 (29:59):
Any of the last I had to throw one more?
Speaker 2 (30:00):
I was like, wow, grahat, it's just out here, just
not even just fired them up, just just don't even caring.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Yeah, I don't really this. I saw that.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
I saw these and I was like, I was texting
with somebody earlier today and I'm like, I think this
is kind of the rare case where somebody may have
done a mock draft that doesn't land a single player
to the to the team. How many of these guys
have they even brought in for visits, like one of
them only one?
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Yeah, Quinn John Juckkins.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Most of these guys are not the guys that I
would suggest that that with the conversations I've had that
they feels like would be the guys they're going to
land on. That doesn't mean it won't be, but it
doesn't really feel like that. What do you think about
the positions? Obviously you don't like wide receiver in the
first round. We've talked about that, get a corner. I
think they'll get a running back. I think they'll get
a tight end. I do believe they'll get a defensive lineman.
(30:49):
I don't know what the edge position. I really don't.
I think they're I think they're okay there. What about center?
I mean, you've got grz foresight, then Wattenberg, and and
you know Garzulu is an interior guy who could play arounds.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
I mean, I don't.
Speaker 6 (31:05):
Do you think they like their bullpen for lack of
a better word there, I mean sure.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
I think they're okay with it for now.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
I mean, if they do go for that position, I
think you're looking at that next year. I think this
year is the year where you're like rolling wa Wattenberg
and if he can't do it, we'll try Forsyth and
if that doesn't.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Work, we're getting a guy next year.
Speaker 6 (31:22):
Do you think they could finally break their tackle drought
this year?
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Yes, because Garrett and mcglinch, you're gonna be coming up
and you need to get cheaper at that position. You
eventually gonna have to pay bo and so you're going
to have to find places that you're expensive right now
and be cheaper here in three years, you know, And
so like it might be the time to start looking
at at at developing a guy behind a Bowls or
a McGlinchey right now to to sort of take to
(31:49):
have a rookie contract there instead of shilling out all
that money to high priced, top of the market tackles.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
And I liked how Bouceski looked this year. I thought
that was a nice surprise.
Speaker 6 (31:58):
But I think maybe ideally he's long term, you know,
like swing tackle, that third man or that sixth man
on the line or on the offensive line there. I
think that's probably preferable to making him the long term
starter right tackle. But I do think he had a
promising showing last year.
Speaker 1 (32:11):
Yeah, I do too. It'll be it'll be interesting to see.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
But I you know, Sean Payton loves to build through
the trenches. He loves to have he loves to make
draft picks there, loves to draft corners. So I I
you know, again, I think we all know they're gonna
come away with the tight end and running back.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
You know, the question is what is everything else going
to be.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
I do believe specifically with the corner position, I think
you'd be looking at slot corners, but nickel corners. But
I do believe they look at a corner. I do
think they'll add a defensive lineman. You know, yeah, maybe
if the board breaks right and all that kind of stuff.
But I mean, you look at where they're paying the
money right now, and you got to figure you've got
to have something in the pipe coming up underneath that.
(32:49):
Look at how much the all they're paying all three
interior defensive lineman in a thirty four. That is a
very rare setup. You can only get away with that
when you've got a rookie quarterback. You can't afford to
pay Zach Allen, DJ Jones and John Franklin Myers. If
you had a quarterback on a second contract, you just
can't afford it. So you need to have something in
the pipeline coming up behind those guys.
Speaker 6 (33:09):
And even if O Nix took a wildly team friendly
deal and Kap wasn't a concern, DJ Jones is on
the wrong side of thirty or about to be.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
That was one of the most surprising things I think,
I think from this thing was getting to resign him.
I really thought that was not gonna happen, but they
ultimately got it done.
Speaker 6 (33:25):
I think it's a product of the capture skyrocketing. Right now,
you're able to retain those guys. It's less about finding
the free agents out there and more about making sure
the good guys don't leave the building.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Yep, Broncos Countries tonight rolls home.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
You just got to roll up your sleeve.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Sometimes you want gravy on a potatoes. Sometimes potatoes are good.
Sometimes you little gravy on that potato.
