(00:00):
Welcome to it, Broncos Country tonight. But with all Brian Dick, Ferguson,
Grant Smith, It's Miami Philadelphia gameat the end. Got a little
crazy. Been going back and forthwith that one. Everybody hitting shots by
about vatom Man coming off the benchputting up a twenty burger. Yeah,
I think he's got like six threes. Absolutely, absolutely ridiculous. A lot

(00:21):
of on a fun NBA action goingon, some interesting NBA action going on
earlier today. So the NBA's investigationsto JOHNS Porter found that he revealed information
about his own health to a knownsports better ahead of a March twentieth game
against the Sacramento Kings. Another betterprivy to the information, placed an eighty
thousand dollars same game parlay bet allunders on Porter statistics and would have won

(00:45):
one point one million. According tothe NBA, Porter played three minutes before
leaving the game with an and I'mdoing an air quote here illness. The
bet ended up not being paid.It was frozen. It was a place.
The DraftKings League investigation revealed Porter, who's Michael Porter Junior's younger brother,
placed at least thirteen bets on NBAgames using an associate's online betting account.

(01:07):
The bets range from fifteen dollars totwenty two thousand dollars, totaling fifty four
thou ninety four dollars accorded to leaguetotal payouts with seventy six fifty nine net
winnings of twenty one nine to sixtyfive, and none of the bets involved
any wish Porter played, at leastto what's that he bet on. Three
of the bets were parlays, includingone that bet on his team to lose.

(01:29):
All three bets lost. Jontay Porterwas banned for life by the NBA
today after all this came out,But we kind of knew that was coming.
We talked about that on the showslike as soon as it came out,
because that is the scam. That'sthe one way that that's the way
that you can game the books.I'm gonna say the one way, but
that is the way that you couldgame the books. As a professional athlete.
You can't you can't really game itby because you don't know betting the

(01:53):
overs, but betting the unders, you have an incentive to miss three pointers
or not hustle for a rebound oryou know, whatever right, you can
guarantee that those had guarantee that theyhit right. So that was the case.
I I just like, what kindof what kind of moron went to
the book and dropped eighty grand ona no name players unders at a parlay,

(02:15):
Like, I don't, I don'teven like what what eighty grand?
Look, if you're gonna do that, if you're gonna run that scame,
you gotta run a lot smaller thanthat. Yeah, that's just asking to
be taught right. And it wasn'tthe only one doing it. There were
several, like a bunch of peoplestarted betting on his unders, Like you
can't tell a bunch of people. You gotta have one guy go do it.
You gotta do it for a lotsmaller amount, and you got to
cover it up with a couple otherbets that lose. So I don't,

(02:38):
I have no idea what they werewhat they were thinking here. Bonehead got
got banned from the league for life. I I was just laughing the entire
time I was reading this. TheAthletic put out a report apparently that dude
just say, I don't know ifhe's a gambling addict or not, but
he gambled a lot over the courseof three seasons. He got a fan

(02:59):
duel account here, a vip vanduelaccount here in Colorado where he was firing
off bets. Now, again thosebets weren't on basketball, but apparently he
wagers a lot, a thousand differentbets. Apparently he stopped. He closed
the account after he signed a twoway contract with the Toronto Raptors back in
December. So just you know, interesting, interesting, I guess to me.

(03:27):
Other stuff, Bill Belichick was thefocal point of two different things today.
One a report that Robert Kraft hadbad mouthed him to Arthur Blank,
saying that he wasn't trustworthy, amongother things. I don't know if I

(03:50):
believe that or not, and Idon't know if that directly contributed him not
getting the Atlanta job, because Ithink all the people that Arthur Blank surrounds
himself with there in Atlanta were alsosaying, don't hire this guy. We
don't want to be out of ajob. You bring in Bill Belichick and
he's going to bring in his guys. Is that's how Bill Belichick rolls.
Wait, so Bill Belichick said RobertKraft talked crap on him to Arthur Arthur

(04:13):
Blank or someone else the wash yourpost is reporting that Robert Craft did that
to him, that you know, was trying to snake him behind his back,
and so I don't to me thatwas that was a fascinating article.
And then of course, immediately afterwardshe goes on the Pat McAfee show and
announced us that he's going to bedoing draft analysis during the draft with a

(04:38):
Pat McAfee show. And it wasfun kind of watching him there. I
don't I don't watch much of thePat McFee show. I mean, it's
okay, it's just not my brand. But it was funny how genial he
was relative to how curmudgeonly he hasperhaps been in the past. And I

(05:00):
think he closed it out with thelines saying something, I'm looking I'm looking
forward to, uh to doing thiswith you seeing it from the other side.
It'll be fun to be in Detroitand get you guys's expertise talking back
and vehicles, before he stayed bustedthat I'm looking for your expertise, sir,
Right. It was just, uh, it was, I mean,
it was fun. It was itwas. It was a fun interview with
him. Be interesting if we weren'tcovering that right here on KOA. I
would probably tune in at least toa little bit of that and see what

(05:23):
it was about. Five six, six, nine zeros of tex Linchecking you
guys' questions. We got a bunchof them. Talk about the draft a
little bit. I'm gonna let youguys in a little secrets. Listeners of
this show, you guys get stuffin advance. Right when my mock draft
comes out next week, I amprobably going to be projecting a trade for
the Denver broncos I'm not gonna tellyou which direction. I feel like it's

(05:46):
not going to be the direction thata lot of fans want it to go
in. I think no matter whichdirection they go, it's going to anger
somebody. But I am probably atthis point we'll call it ninety two two
percent projecting a trade. We'll seethat. Steve Atwater would say a lot

(06:08):
of time between now and then, but a little bit of intel we'll see.
I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'mgonna work on it. See if
it comes to fruition. I willshare some of that intel with you later
on in the show. We gotCody rhar coming up at eight o five.
I will share some of that intelin the segment after that, after

(06:30):
I get a little more cloud waitingon a text back. Otherwise I do
it now. I know in theradio business would call that at teas or
whatever, but I'm not trying todo that to y'all. Well, it
was still a good one five six, six nine zero Yes to those asking.
I actually got my Chipotle tonight.I had to wait in line behind
somebody. The large internet order camein right before my Chipotle got there,

(06:51):
so stand in line. I calledyou to see if you wanted anything.
Yes, thank you for the chipsand guac. You're welcome. And I
had to wait. It's like tenburrito order got filled while up standing.
They're like, I just wore mybowl man after getting burned with your online
order yesterday. I I, well, I ordered yesterday on the app.
Right. We had all the accidentsthat I was taking a Securiti's route to

(07:12):
get there. By the time Igot there, it was gone something,
you know, stolen whatever, Idon't know. They were refund of my
money. So it wasn't like butI didn't have time yesterday to they had
them make another one, so Iget there today and you know, yeah,
so I got I got my order, but I'm waiting that annoys that,
you know what out of me,waiting for an online order, Like
shouldn't there be a separate group ofpeople to fill that. They only got

(07:33):
one place they can make the food. Well, but I benachabowl is where
they got the other little station wherethey could just fill the online orders,
like they fill that on the middlestation, you know where the because in
the back you get the grail, right, the grill, the chefs whatever
they're making the stuff. Then yougot like that middle island, and then
you got like the subway style, you know, r sneeze guard and all

(07:53):
that, and the weird people leaningover it with their dirty pointing over top
of the somewhat glasses in there fora minute, don't don't put your dirty
hands. So but anyway, that'llthat'll, that'll get me on a whole
different tangent five six six nine zerosA text line. I yeah, the

(08:18):
text line's going off now in thetrade. I'm not we'll get to that.
I promise we'll get to that. It's not one hundred percent okay,
And and don't I recognize I madea huge mistake there in saying ninety two
percent, because that is totally aNew Heights reference, and I did not
mean to do that. What areference from New Heights, It's a it's

(08:39):
a Kelsey Brothers podcast reference. Sothey're all now they're all speculating if it's
an Eels thing, and anyway, are they speculating correctly? No, no
they're not. But we'll get towe'll get to all that'll hear it in
just a little bit. I don'tknow. I want to get back to
Belichick thing for a minute, becauseI don't know that I believe that.

(09:01):
I don't know that I believe that. I know the relationship between Craft and
Belichick had become acrimonious over the lastcouple of years. It really started splintering
around the Jimmy Garoppolo and moving Garoppoloto San Francisco. That's where it really
kind of started. But it hadbeen going downhill for a few years.

(09:28):
But I don't know that I believethat Robert Kraft was sitting there bad mouthing
Bill Belichick to arts are playing.First of all, I believe that's illegal,
as somebody from who works HR needsto talk to me about this,
because isn't it illegal to like dothat, to sabotage somebody's job? I
would swear that's not legal. Fivesix six nine zero. Somebody said,

(09:56):
don't play my voice recording, SoI guess somebody left the talk back.
Oh okay, we'll get into someof these questions here. It looks like,
Oh my goodness, we got somany of them. A lot I've
been talking about the uniforms. I'mnot gonna talk about the uniforms. I
don't like them, but that's me. I'll let you guys make your own

(10:18):
decisions on that. And I'm I'magain I'm the worst person to ask.
I'm the worst judge of that kindof stuff because my taste in what the
uniform should look like is a lotmore reserved than perhaps what I think a
lot of other people like. I'lljust say that the Mountains homage is not
my thing. We'll leave it atthat. You guys will see them here

(10:41):
in a couple of days anyway,So the seventeenthy're gonna roll them out here.
What five days, you guys geta chance to see that. We
got the Sean Payton George Peyton predraft press conference is that what tomorrow where
they'll say nothing of value? AndI know I have to be in tenants

(11:03):
ben present. I want to getinto some of this draft stuff here because
there's a lot of stuff coming out, a lot of you know, as
we get closer and closer to it, a lot of people start saying a
lot of different things, and someof it's noise and some of it's a
value. I know Daniels Aremaia headhe's conference call today, and I would
suggest that most of what he saysis of value. He'll be on KOA

(11:26):
Sports tomorrow at three thirty setting thatright up. See how that works cross
promotion. By the way, Ihave that voice recording that the listener didn't
want us to play. If youwant to play it, well, we'll
get to that. Someone asked mewhat my Broncos dream draft would be,
not what they do, but adream trade down scenario. Players I've identified

(11:48):
or heard or ideal fits for Denver. If it would me, I would
try to trade down twice and Iwould just be loaded with picks through the
second third round. This draft ispretty loaded at the first one hundred,
one hundred and ten, maybe maybeone hundred and twenty players. It's really
it's got a lot of talent inthat first one hundred and twenty picks,
and then after that it falls offa cliff. The Broncos, unfortunately,

(12:11):
are loaded with picks after all ofthat. That's where the bulk of their
picks are. And I say loaded, they really they have like the third
least draft capital by the point system, a bunch of fifth, sixth,
seventh rounders. Dream scenario for me, move back, get lot to a
lot, two falls in your lap, you pick up a couple of you

(12:33):
know, a couple other picks, and you wind up with a situation where
you get that center and you'll windup getting a center, quarterback both out
of Oregon in the second round somethinglike that. Like I think that would
probably be you know, you youcome away with a lot too, uh,
the Oregon center bo Nicks. I'mnot too mad at that. I

(12:54):
don't think there are too many otherI mean there the Broncos. Look,
we're not a quarterback away and sothere's not really dream scenarios here for me.
I just want to see this teamstart stockpile on the talent. What
I don't want to see is themempty the clip and then realized that,
Okay, we got a quarterback,we got nothing to surround him with,
we got nothing to build around himwith. Oh, and we got a

(13:16):
cap deficit next year because it'll beyear two of the RUSS cap hit.
Oh we got a quarterback, Like, that's what I don't want. And
I mean unless you believe that thatquarterback can go toe to toe with Pat
Mahomes and Justin Herbert, because that'sthe nature of what this division is.
Now. Successful teams build a teamand then they trade up to get the

(13:37):
quarterback. So what the Niners did. They used a Jerneyman quarterback and Jimmy
Garoppolo to get, you know,to get where they needed to get,
and then they traded up. Theykep able to trade up. Now,
they traded up for Trey Lance andbrock Perty ended up being the one from
that draft that worked out. Sothey lucked out that way. But that's
when you make your move. KansasaityChiefs did the same thing. They built
the team, then they traded upfor Patrick Mahomes. They were already the

(13:58):
top offense in the NFL with AlexSmith the show. So a dream scenario
for me would be continuing to addtalent you come away with. I mean,
there's some guys that I really like. Even though he just got the
DWI the nose tackle out of Texas. I love the Broncos to come away
with him and an edge rusher.I would love for the Denver Broncos to

(14:18):
have just the mediast front seven.I would love for them to be a
team that everybody hates to play becauseyou know you're gonna get smacked around building
that bully. Yeah, I mean, okay, so maybe let's go over
this for the other direction. Theyget a quarterback. Is it better to
lose like the nineteen sixteen games they'relosing now, or lose thirty to fifty

(14:39):
five. Yeah, you're putting uppoints, but you can't cover anybody because
you traded away Pats or Tan,which is not happening. And by the
way, we'll get into that piecetoday. There was a piece out there
that they tried to trade sir Tan. That is not true. That is
absolutely one hundred percent falls. Theytook two calls. It was a call
from San Francisco, got a callfrom Philadelphia if he was a and said

(15:00):
no, and moved on about theirday. They did not quote almost trade
Certan and that was back at lastyear's trade deadline. That wasn't that's not
new. That's back at last year'strade a list. So I don't know
where this reporting comes from. Butif you, if you were to trade
him, include him in the packageto go up and get the quarterback.
Cool, you got him. Thatmeans your starting quarterbacks now are Tomory Mathis

(15:24):
and we saw what that looked likeand Riley Moss and we didn't see what
that looked like. And that shouldtell you what it'll looked like. And
those are your starting outside corners. The Broncos are gonna score thirty and give
up fifty. Every game was gonnalook like that Miami game last year.
People forget the Broncos scored what whatdid they score twenty one in that game?

(15:48):
Because maybe what seventy on? LikeI said, that's the thing you
want to You want to rip andstrip of defense to put a to get
a rookie quarterback out there without alot of weapons and so so protection.
It got your defense to do it. Okay. This segment brought to you

(16:11):
by DraftKings used promo code giontay Bandfor one hundred and fifty dollars in free
backs. I'm just kidding, sayget your VIP accounts. I'm just kidding.
I saw that today and I wasdying. I just dieing, laughing,
you knucklehead. John tay Porter asto the Broncos. The dream scenario

(16:33):
for me, Yeah, like Isaid, build a bully I want.
I want the Denver Broncos right now. I want them to have an identity.
What identity do the Denver Broncos have? I love build a smash metal
football team and say you find theright quarterback and you've got twenty years and
you can lord it back over KansasCity and everybody else. I know what
it's like to be I've been onboth sides of this coint I grew up

(16:55):
in Kansas City with John always beatingup on the Chiefs. I know what
it's like to look across the divisionand have quarterback envy and keep recycling journeyman
guys every year til you find yourguy. I lived through Steve de Burgh,
the last two years of Joe Montana, Elvis Gerback, Matt Blunden,
Steve Bono, letting rich Gannon goto the Raiders before they finally found Trent

(17:22):
Green had a little success for aminute there, and then the wheels came
off again with Matt Castle. Iknow what it's like to be long suffering
and look for the quarterback guys. But let's not take my word for it.
Let's get Cody Roarke's opinion here inthe next segment, and then in

(17:44):
the final uh with the eight tothirty segment, I guess I'll start getting
this draft intel with you about apotential Broncos trade. This is Broncos Country
Night, Kawa, welcome back toit, Broncos Country Tonight. Benjamin Albrighten,
Nick Ferguson, Grant Smith here withyou. It's Rockys Lose Gain calls
one. This time I caught alittle spark of joy in Jack Corgan's voice

(18:04):
at one point I did too.He was good to hear him excited for
a change instead of disgusted. Ohbad. I love Jack Corgan. I'm
gonna go up there. I thinkI'm gonna go up there. Friday never
been to the booth, right,Yeah, I've never been a booth.
Yeah, you should go a bitof the sweet I've been on the field.
I always sit in the seats thatare you know, right, there
behind home plate they got for thosefront row seats that we have that said,

(18:26):
you know right, yeah, wherethey serve you. Yeah yeah,
they bring me the ice cream inthe little helmet and all that kind of
stuff. It was mostly Budweiser's forme that day. Okay, fair I
look, I was. It wassuch a jerk. I kept going up
to the people who didn't get thefree stuff and I would order ice creams
and I was handing them out tothe That was just That's what I was
doing, was going handing them outto those people until they made me stop.

(18:47):
I'm a man of the people.Crap it's going to you can't wait,
comes Pearrel hotlinbering another man of thepeople on Cody Roar, Cody,
how you doing, see me?Friend? You are a man of the
people. I'd have to say, like, that's the number one thing people
don't understand the Benjamin All in reallife. He's one of the best people
I know, man, So Ihave to throw that out there. I
appreciate it. Yeah, the characterI play on Twitter is was a little
far from you know, actual me, But you know, whatever, it's

(19:11):
it's it is what it is.I'm gonna start off by asking you what
you would do, because we'll getto what the Broncos are gonna do,
what we think they're gonna do,all that kind of stuff. But if
general manager Cody Roark was going intothis draft the way that it's set up,
what would be your aim? Whatwould what would you be trying to
pull off here? You know,I feel like, for me, I
know the quarterback that I would takeright uh, you know, for me,

(19:33):
I would take bow next, ButI'm not going to take him twelfth
overall here. If I have afield, he's going to be available maybe
late, you know, late roundone if you can maybe trade back a
little bit, or even like earlyround two, if you can try to
you know, trading you know, changing pace of someone at twelve is gonna
get you maybe an early spot inround two and you can double dip at
the end of round one there.I would take, you know, ideally

(19:53):
bowl the second round if that's thecase, And I would add to be,
honestly another wide receiver into the mixhere for the Broncos. And the
reason I say that, I thinkis just because of the development this week
right with obviously Courtland not reporting forvoluntary workouts, which is completely fine as
voluntary, but the fact that youknow, he was the only guy that
Russell Wilson told last year when everythingwas going on behind the scenes, Courtland,

(20:15):
you know, is now courtas playingthe leverage to his ability, which
I think at this point he's goingto be Hey, extend me or trade
me, which I think at thispoint, I think the team might look
to trade him versus extending him atthis point. So if that's going to
be the case, If that's whatDever's going to do, go get to
a round one wide receiver to paralongsideTim Patrick, Marvin Nims, Josh Reynolds,
maybe Litt Jordan Humpley getting some runand then hey, you have another

(20:37):
guy in the mix. It's goingto be a round for quite some time.
To me, that is the mostappealing move that I would do the
GM. Yeah, I tend toagree with that. If I'm stating to
twelve, I'm looking at the tradeback and the possibility of picking up bon
Nicks. By the way, ifyou looked at the betting propositions, bo
Nicks is currently the over runner onhim is thirty two and a half with
it heavily weighted to him being laterthan pick thirty two. It's minus two

(21:00):
hundred that he'd be picked after thirtytwo plus one sixty if you think he's
going before that, so he canMAKESLF some money if you if you think
or have intel that he's going beforethe thirty second pick in the draft,
which is the last pick in thefirst round. I tend to agree with
you, though I don't see ascenario in which emptying out the Coffers to
try to get up and get oneof these other quarterbacks is beneficial to a

(21:22):
team that is not a quarterback away. And I've been over that repeatedly over
the last few days, where I'mlike, you know, look at the
teams that they did trade up thatwere successful, they're the ones that already
had a team built. You know, Kansas City already had the team built
when they moved up for Pat Mahomes. The Niners already had the team built
when they moved up for Trey lastNow, Lands didn't work out, but
party from that draft did. Thepremise is, you know, when you
have a team built, generally, that's the time that you empty because you

(21:45):
don't need the assets to build ateam you already built it now you got
the quarterback, right, yeah,Well, and that's the key here for
Denver as well. I mean forthem, they're going to have all of
their you know, draft capital goingin the next year. They're not going
to be in a situation without afirst or second as of you know right
now. But I just you know, I've seen all these scenarios where if
you're gonna move up from twelve tofour, wall, it's gonna include you

(22:06):
know, swapping with twelve this year. It's also going to include your first
round next year. Is they toinclude your first round the year after that?
How do you build the team inthis window that Sean Payton has that
he's gonna have four years left onhis deal, Well, all of a
sudden, there's three years that he'shad on his overall contract where he's not
gonna have a first round pick towork with. To me, I just
don't think that is what he's goingto do. And look, you guys
have a lot more intel on background. They have a little bit more of

(22:27):
an idea maybe how some other teamsare fairing or what they're thinking the NFL
Draft that will make them, youknow, make the most informed decision whether
that's to be aggressive and trade up, whether that's to trade back and a
quirumle capital realy just depends on howthey view it, right. I think
that's where the consensus of the draftconversation, Ben, I think it kind
of gets lost. And I canthink that's where the commentary gets divisive.
I saw it, you know, even put out as well this week,

(22:48):
which I agree with you, likemock draft fatigue is really sitting it at
this point, and I tell youwhat, I'm over mock draft mondays,
I'm with you there. But thereality is is even these these big boards,
these mockcraft simulators, they have theirown consensus on who they think are
the top you know, twenty five, top thirty two players. But it
may be entirely different on the Broncosbig board into who they have one through

(23:11):
thirty two. And I think atthe end of the day, if the
team feels great about it, you'lltoly want them to write it's not about
what we want them to do,It's about what they feel like they want
to do, and obviously they're goingto make the best informed decision hopefully,
right. I think Bronc those countriesis waiting to see on that. To
me, I think that he's gotto play it's smart here and if you
can maintain keeping their capital next yearand you know, in a couple of

(23:33):
years from now, I think that'sthe best move, you know, for
Denver because look, if you lookat the free agency list next year,
Ever's got twenty plus dudes hitting theopen market that you know, either role
player, some guys are started,or some guys are you know, maybe
look for an extension. But they'regonna have some tough decisions to make next
year as well. So you know, what is the vision for this team.
I'm hoping we're going to find outlong when they meet with the media.

(23:53):
Yeah, we get the pressor oftomorrow and that'll be interesting. I
think a lot of people don't expectit to them ount too much, but
we'll see if they on how manyquarterback questions get asked? All of them?
Yeah, and the question I haveprepared is not a quarterback question.
We'll see if that if that changeswhen we get there. Talking with Cody
Roarkira Mile High Sports, Tody,Okay, we've talked about what we would

(24:15):
do. Now let's talk about theDenver Broncos. And yes, Sean Payton
does have a history of being aggressive, does have a history of moving up
in the draft. George Peyton, conversely, as a history of being a
bit more patient, a bit moreconservative, and a bit more value minded
in terms of how he approaches thedraft. We saw that, I think
on full display Whennate Hackett was thecoach and desperately wanted Greg dulsicch and he

(24:37):
kind of played the board knowing wherethe value was for Dulsage to be able
to get it for him while alsomultiplying picks. What do we expect to
win out here? Do we expectSean Payton to just you know, mortgage
everything, go up and get someguy, or do you think that the
voice of reason or what I wouldconsider the voice of reason in the room
causes a maybe a more staid ormeasured approach. I think we might see

(24:59):
it more state of measured approach.I felt like last year where we saw
Denver obviously trading up into the endof round two to get Marvin Mims,
I felt like that was, hey, we don't have capital here, we
need to get really good players. And I think that's where we saw them
be a little bit more aggressive lastyear with the limited capital and the resources
that they did have there, withall the circumstances. Consider now they have
eight picks this year that have flexibilityto do a little bit you know of

(25:22):
everything there. But I do thinkwe're gonna see a little mild mannered approach
there because I think at the endof the day, if your goal is
to get the quarterback and you feellike that guy is going to you know,
not be available at twelve, andyou're going to try to trade up
before like, you run the riskof another team getting intel of that and
trying to swoop up ahead of you, which you know, there are a
couple of teams that could do that. In Minnesota probably has the most firepower
right now to be able to dothat. The Raiders could do that,

(25:44):
though, I have seen where theycould maybe even trade back and get you
know, in the back end ofround one and maybe get you know,
quarterback in an offensive tackle. Isaw you point something out like that as
well on social media. Like Denver, they had to make moves only for
what's good for them. I know. Daniel Jeremiah said at the day on
his conference call, he believes thatyou know, quarterback can come in and
have success here in Denver, butthere's questions. I mean, Ben,
there's gonna be a new starting center. We don't know the long term outlook

(26:07):
at the left tackle position here withDenver, with Garrett being in the final
year, is deal, no guaranteedmoney. And then on top of that,
you know, you've got to hopethat your run game is sustainable year.
Because you don't have a run game, it's not gonna matter what quarterback
you get. And I think thathas to be the emphasis so far this
offseason. We'll see that philosophy changesa little bit. Yeah, I tend
to agree, and I think that'sthat's sort of the thing. I believe

(26:27):
that what's the best way to putthis. I know that there's a team
that I don't think a lot ofpeople are projecting to trade up right now
that's drafting in the back third ofthe first round that wants an offensive tackle
and they're not going to be ina position to get the one they want,
so maybe they might be considering tradingup with the Denver Broncos. I'll

(26:48):
tell who that team is the nextsegment. We'll get a chance to kind
of kick that one around for thatthe people that have been will be waiting
on that. But I'll say itfeels like that there are gonna be some
opportunities to move back awards for theBroncos here and or the Raiders and be
able to pick guys up. Whoare some guys that you would love to
see the Broncos select. Let's let'spresume a trade back here. Who are

(27:11):
some guys you'd like to see theBroncos pick if they traded back somewhere between
you know, eighteen and twenty five. Yeah, that's a great question.
I mean so much as dependent, you know, I lean a little bit
on I know a lot of peoplehave never taken an edge rusher. I
I don't know if that's the movethat you want to make right now,
Denver. Understandably next year, likethis is Jonathan Cooper and Baron Brownings last
year of their rookie deals. Iunderstand that you have Nick Benito, who

(27:32):
took a huge step forward. I'mmore comfortable with the ede rusher group than
I think a lot of people are. So like for me, it wouldn't
be an edge rusher in my opinion, and obviously guys like Dallas Turner,
I think Jared versus we got longgone before you know, Denver gets to
eighteen or twenty five in that regard. You know, I've been bouncing a
little bit back and forth on cornerbackas well. I know it's not the
popular pick in Broncos country, butI think kerry On Arnold's going to probably

(27:53):
go first in terms of the firstcornerback off the board. Obviously Quinny and
Mitchell has been getting a lot ofrun as well. It's Denver new d
I mean know, it's obviously Denverlooking at bringing in some veteran guys like
last week Levi Wallace. A fewweeks ago, they are interested in signing
Christian Fulton. Those fell through alittle bit for them, and you know
that tells me the hate They're stilllooking to add any cornerback to the room
for Themary Mathis and Riley Moss. And so I bounced between cornerback. I

(28:17):
bounced between that, and then alsoI'm looking at Amarus Mims, obviously an
offensive tackle, and many think tomyself, like, is this never's best
position right now to maybe try toget a guy and see if he can
be you know, a power anchorthere on the less side of the Art
it's gonna have this year a rookielike Mims can learn from him. Obviously,
if Denver's going to move on fromGarrett after this year, if that
is in fact the plan, I'dsay I bounced between those positions. But

(28:38):
man, I just can't help beenamorant by the wide receiver group here.
And look, I don't think Rollmcdonjay is going to be available if Denver
were to trade back to eighteen.I think he's going to be top twelve,
top thirteen, something along those linesthere. But man, he'd be
a nice addition to add to themix that I mean, that's kind of
where I'm leaning here, Ben.It's just there's a multitude of positions that
I feel like, you know, they can the benefit from obviously, you

(29:00):
know, I think defensive tackle isanother one we can look at. Obviously
with the sweat having the DUI overthe you know, the past week,
and that could drop his value significentthat could play out well for Denver,
you know, in round number threeor maybe even later if he drops to
round four, Like, Denver's gotan opportunity to you know, take some
chances here. I just think thatthey've got to address it in the order.
I think quarterbacks obviously most important.Outside of that, I'm gonna go

(29:23):
detackle, offensive tackle, and thenquarnerback and receiver is my top five needs
there for Denver. It's interesting youmentioned wide receiver there because even though I
don't know that the quality of thatroom is necessarily where you want it,
the quantity feels like you have enoughbodies at this point even without uh Courtland
Sutton, but I get where you'recoming from there. It'd be nice to

(29:44):
have that kind of thing. Igo back and you look at Sean Payton's
history and you know, he tendsto have one rod receiver that he pays
that it's you know, that's kindof the X. And then you know
maybe one of the guy on kindof a mid level deal, maybe two,
and then the rest of them tendto be on rookie deals, So
that that would be that would besort of fascinating to see. The thing
the most greats on me is becauseI do believe the edge rush rotation could
use a boost. But I'm notopposed to taking a corner at twelve if

(30:07):
they feel that he's the guy,you know, like Quinn and Mitchell at
twelve doesn't bug me in the least, but I watched the Broncos fan based
on social media, and there's amountdown I think everyone forgets. Remember the
Houston Texans game where Nico Collins almosthad two hundred yards at halftime, and
you know, and outside of thattowards the end stretch, like the Raiders
exploded in the passing game against himin the secondary last year, Like you
know, I wasn't Fabian Moreau reallyfell off after really I think stepping up

(30:30):
and playing pretty solid, like hedidn't hurt you in anyway in the midway
part of the season, but man, at the end of the year,
he couldn't come up big when theteam needed him to. Now you get,
you know, some guys in thisclass with some brains, some really
good athleticism, and obviously the fourthree three speed. To me, I
think that is a great addition, especially when you factor in Hater's no Justin
Simmons anymore in the back end ofthat secondary. So you are going to

(30:52):
need your corners to become big timeplaymakers. I think the one thing I've
been lobbying for Ben, I've beenasking for it, and hopefully we get
to see this year, especially withJim Leonard coming in as a passing game
coordinator. When press coverage looks forPat, I mean, he did a
lot of that his rookie season underVic, and he did it under a
ger row, but then last yearwe just saw so much off ball coverage.
I know Pat wants to get backto playing a little bit more manned
man to be able to put somecollaps on some dudes. But you need

(31:15):
another guy opposite to you that you'reconfident in Ken Riley Mosster to Marii Mappis
become that. I mean it's ahuge question mark right now. You know,
in this year's draft you maybe geta guy opposite them that can do
that right away as a rookie.So for me, I mean I'm a
defensive back guy. There might bea little biased in me there on that
side, but I mean I'll beokay with that move as well. Who's
the one guy you're banging the tablefor for them to come away with in
this draft? For me, Ididn't have to be somebody there at the

(31:37):
top. Like for me, it'scase State tight end Vins or not.
I know they had an extended conversationwith him I'd love to see that added
to the room. I think hewould be a fantastic weapon for this offense
and help build this thing up andgive them something they were sorely missing.
But who's somebody that you look atthis draft you say they got to come
away with this guy. Oh anda lot of the mock draft simulators I've
been doing, I feel like MasonSmith and I think there's a little bit

(32:00):
of a different consensus on maybe wherehe's going to end up. Some people
say it could be, you know, late round one, maybe a mid
roround two, Like, I don'tknow where he's at a lot of similarities.
I've been able to get him inround three, But Mason Smith,
I think obviously the ties to JamarKine from this time at LSU. He's
a guy that can play multiple positions, not just the end. You can
play inside the a gap. Andobviously there's a rotation there with Malcolm Roach,

(32:22):
like obviously the guy that brought inthis week, Angela Blackson, Like
they want to see if they canget somebody because Roach isn't going to be
an every down player, but youneed to get guys that can rotate in
and also still play at a highlevel inside the the b gaps to prevent
you from getting gash and maybe evena lot more one on one opportunities for
your edge rushers. Mason Smith outof LSU. I think is a guy
that I would like ever try tocome away with at some point. Love

(32:44):
it love talking to you is alwaysCODYL. FORDSONI you tomorrow, not my
friends season absolutely brother to take careCody Rourke my high Sports. When we
come back, I will get intoa little bit of intel that I've heard.
I already teased it out a littlebit for you guys twice. You've
been holding on long enough. Iwill. I will get into a little
bit of intel that I've heard, and we will see whether or not that

(33:05):
that intel has any weight to it. UH. Still waiting on a text
back on some of this, butI feel comfortable enough talking to you about
what it is that I've heard, and we'll see if it comes to fruition.
Listen to Broncos Country to Night hereon KOA fifty Am nighty four one

ol Briden, Nick Ferguson, GrantSmith here with you, Nick ferguson'll be
back tomorrow. That'll be fun.Do a full show starting at six p

(33:30):
right here on KOA. Always goodto have Nick, and I like the
two man show because I get tobanter more, you know. I try
to banter with Grant, but he'stoo funny for me. He's too quick.
Well, and Nick puts up withyour bst right where Grat just shuts
it down. He's got He's gonnacontrol the board back there. He's just
power hungry. By the way,I'm never reading anything on the internet ever
again. Ever. I'm not gettinginto it. But I'm not reading anything

(33:52):
on the internet ever again, justever, just destroying my childhood right now,
you're not gonna share what you werereading during the break. I am
absolutely not, not even a littlebit. I don't I if I never
talked about Carl Winslow again, sobe it five six six nine zeros a
text line. I want to getinto something I mentioned right up the top,
and we're talking about Lillian tell Igot There is a team that is

(34:15):
drafting in a position where they're notgoing to be able to get the pick
that they want. This team wantsan offensive tackle pretty badly. And they
are not going to be able toget one of the ones that that they
want to get. And I'm talkingabout the La Rams. They're at nineteen.

(34:44):
They want to get up there. They want to they want to get
one of those those top offensive tackles, and there are some guys that will
fall down to them. But Idon't think they're on MIMS. So I've
been told that they're exploring trade upinto the quote quoting here Raiders Broncos Range.

(35:04):
I don't think I've seen anyone outthere talking about that. I have
certainly haven't seen online anywhere. Iactually did a little little Twitter search just
to see if anybody had, youknow, it, had projected that or
put anything like that out there Naa. So we'll see, we'll see if
that's that's something that comes to fruition. But the Broncos and Raiders Range to

(35:24):
get an offensive tackle, that's that'sthat's interesting. And the person that this
comes from is is somebody that Iwould now I've already put out for other
comment with some other people, butthis is somebody whose information I would take
to the bank. This is notanother media person. This is this is
like somebody who's info I would taketo the bank, right, So I'm
I'm interested to see that. Ido believe that. I mean, the

(35:46):
Los Angeles Rams, they need totackle. They certainly need one. You've
got what is it, haven'ts diedover on the the right side, But
there are left sides. A LaraJackson with with Joe noteboom and uh they
got another guy I can't remember hisname. Ull tell me I had a

(36:07):
j R. Surrey, And Idon't think anybody thinks that Lara Jackson is
the answer. They've kicked Steve Aviileyinto uh into center. They've got Dotson
and h and Joan of Jackson atthe guards. I would not be surprised

(36:27):
to see that be be very true. I also would not be surprised to
see that team looking at a quarterbackin later rounds, in mid to later
rounds. The Raams, Yeah,I mean Stetson Bennett's just uh, well,
he's back supposedly from well wherever hewas. Wherever he was. We're

(36:50):
not gonna call it rehab, butwherever he was. And Matthew Stafford can't
have more than one or two years. Yeah, Stafford's back and elbow and
bother him for years. I mean, he's just he's just been gutting it
out and Dresser Win isn't anything. That's the third quarterback they have, So
I I you know, again,I'm not guaranteeing the Rams are going to
trade up with the Broncos, butI got told by a very reliable person
today that that's something gets in playfor the Rams if they're looking to get

(37:14):
up in that range and getting offit's a tackle and the Broncos would be
a potential partner. We'll see howthat shakes out. If you do start
seeing that creeper on the internet, you know where it came from. So
if we trade back to nineteen, what are we looking at for our pick
thing? Well, I think ifyou're doing that, then you are looking
at lat too. I think Ithink it's putting you right in the edge

(37:35):
range for Latour or Jared Verse, somebody like that, because I think Dallas
Turner is probably going to wind upgoing to the Atlanta Falcons at height.
Raheem Morris's scheme likes edge rushers thatare also able to drop back. You
know, simply remember what Vicky usedto drop von Miller back and it made
everybody mad. Raheem Morris does alot of that too, and Dallas Turner
by far has the most drop backsinto coverage of any of the premiere Edge

(37:59):
guys. So I think he's gonnabe gone. I think the two guys,
if you're looking for another Edge thatit could be there would be a
lot too. And Jared verse I'mfine with either one. I remember when
Nick and I first had a draftconversation after the season, I said,
Jared versus, my dude. Now, I kind of pivoted back to Lot
too a little bit, but Igo either way. Like, I'm not

(38:20):
mad if they go either one ofthose. I'm not mad if they take
Quinn you Mitchell at twelve, I'mreally not. The rest of social media
meltdown, but I'm fine with it. I just I just want this thing
to be over. I'm so fatiguedwith people who are so thirsty for quarterback.
They will they will try to sellyou any number of nonsensical reasons why

(38:44):
you have to do this thing, including trading past certain Yeah, it's like,
you know, which seems like themost nonsensical thing to me. All
that's the one that's the dumbest.Like I hear you when you say you
know, if you've got your guy, go get your guy, that kind
of thing. But at the sametime, you're not close to competing,
like we're not. And if youtrade Pats or Tan, you're definitely not

(39:05):
going to be competing. Moreau waswas the the other outside corner last year
and it was bad down the stretch, and he was the guy that they
put in because they had a benchto Maury Mathis Riley Moss. You know,
I mean, okay, he's athird round corner, but that I
mean, there's not an investment there. You got the slot cover with Awi

(39:28):
mcmellan, But beyond that, didyou bring a Quinna and Mitchell or a
Terry and Armstead over there opposite Patsor Tan all of a sudden you're cooking
with something. Now keep in mindwe were talking about Moreau or whoever was
over there. You don't have aJustin Simmons back there over the top the
cover for those guys anymore either.Yeah, and he covered up a lot

(39:50):
of the mistakes, like this time, there were people that didn't want to
throw to that area. They din'twant throw it to Tan. They would
throw Itt Simers, so they wentthe other direction. You remember what it
looked like watching Lions game. Idon't want to now imagine what that's like
with you don't have Sir Tan andSimmons. That's what that I mean,
that's what you're looking for. That'sthe point I'm getting at is the idea

(40:13):
that you need to mortgage everything togo get the quarterback right now is laughably
negligent roster building. I would ratherbe competitive in games than put up thirty
points and still lose by twenty. And that's what you're staring down. The
barrel of Kansas City's offense is nevergoing to be worse than it was this
past year and they still won aSuper Bowl. The defense might have carried

(40:34):
him to it. Don't you bestbelieve Andy Reid's going to put the work
in and get that offense going. The Chargers are to give me a game
anymore. They got Jim Harball offtheir coaching. Yeah, they're not going
to make dumb mistakes at the endof the game to give it away anymore.
And as much as I want tolaugh at the Raiders and tell the
Broncos beat them, I can't.Wasn't John Gruden is still the head coach

(40:55):
the last time the Broncos won.Yeah, I think it's an eight row
something like the streak is now theRaiders. Two teams in the division that
used to be gimmeas and aren't aren'tgimmes anymore. Anyway, I do expect
the I do expect the Rams tobe active. We'll see, well,

(41:22):
we'll see if they are able tomove up, and we'll see if the
Broncos are a potential trade partner thereas this source intimated to me they could
be possible five, six, six, nine Zeros text line seven too.
Zho asks if brock Powers is goneat twelve, trade back, get talent,

(41:43):
stack pics. I expect Bowers tobe gone at ten. I think
he's going to the Jets. Fact, I think you can just go and
put that one in pan in yourmock drafts. I mean, if they
want to win, now a greataddition for them. Everybody I've to talk
to you up there believes that it'sfunny. It's funny to me the corner
thing because one of the Texters fromthe semone for just reminded me of this.
It's funny to me. How whatever, for whatever it is, fans

(42:04):
of this team hate drafting corners early, but it's usually the right move.
I remember the draft where we draftedPatser Tan and the fan base was melting
down that they didn't take Justin Fields. And I'm sitting there like, you
got the best corner. You gotthe best corner in the draft because Caroline
was stupid and took the other corner. Who was that jac Horn? Yeah,

(42:30):
and you got the best corner inthe draft. Which, by the
way, here's the other part ofthis. And I'll tell you guys that
all the people wanted to trade theirtan. You guys realize the Saints,
we're trying to trade up to gether tan. Right, They were trying
to trade it for the twenties toget Patsartan Sean Payton was trying to trade
up to get pats Er tan.Now you guys think he wants to trade
them away. Good grief. Theymade the right call, and I said

(42:55):
it right then. I was like, you know, I said they made
the right call. Draft in certainyou have an argument, you could have
said they could have gone Parsons,But they made the right call drafting pats
Er ten. And you had afan base that was melting down because they
didn't take the quarterback in Justin Fields. Meanwhile, Justin Fields with ten and
twenty eight as a starter, laughablybad statistics, was outperformed by every other

(43:19):
quarterback that they had. Their TysonBagent won more games last year. People
like to begin these excuses for JustinFields and they're ludicrous. Justin Fields didn't
process the field fast enough. Period. He's a great athlete, all world
athlete. I'll never touch ten percentof his athleticism, but in terms of
being an NFL caliber quarterback, doesn'tsee it fast enough. And it's the

(43:43):
same people that they're like, oh, he's gonna take over for Russell Wilson
this year, Well, if forus it gets hurt, maybe I don't
see any other way. Russell Wilson'sbetter than Justin Fields Fields with ten and
twenty a Tyson Bagent, Trevor Simeand Andy Dalton. They had the same
supporting cast coaching. How come thoseguys were able to put up better numbers?
And they did put up better numbers. Sometimes he said, ifo folks

(44:12):
know what they're doing, and justbecause we're some bum with a microphone or
a Twitter account criticizing, maybe weshouldn't be Patchertown was the right college orsee.
Peyton made the right call in theface of overwhelming media and fan pressure
who was sitting there trying to gethim to draft a bad quarterback. They

(44:35):
didn't believe in the guy. Theydid believe in Sutan, they went and
got him Boom. Now again,if they believe in somebody in this draft
and he falls in their lap attwelve where they can move up a little
bit, it doesn't cost the farm. I'm not too mad at it,
but I become concerned when you talkabout emptying the clip to go get a
quarterback on a team that's nowhere closeto competing. I don't want to.

(45:00):
I get that everybody here wants tosee offense, but I don't want to
see offense that we we're you know, we're putting up thirty but losing,
you know, losing like that Miamigame. Well, okay, you got
a quarterback, but you can't stopanybody because you have no pieces. You
got Jaquy mcgillo, the four cowBoys back there trying to trying to stop

(45:21):
Pat Maholmes, justin Herbert, goodluck with the man, the myth,
the legend, Gardner Minshew. Iknow I get a chuckle out of you.
Just imagine if you just said youguys subscribe to the Mustache Bros.
Magazine or yeah, okay we're friends. I just yet right, well,
you guys, obviously I love thetext from the five five nine. Ben

(45:46):
just destroyed my confidence with that rantbecause it was true. I like,
I'm not mad, I just Iwant it to be over. I'm ready
to see it out, whatever itis. I'm so tired of bagging my
head against the wall because you're notgonna convince anybody once they get an idea

(46:07):
in their head. You're not gonnaconvince anybody. If there's one thing social
media has done over the last twentyfive years, it has shown us all
you're not gonna convince anybody of anything. It doesn't matter how many facts you
bring to the table, it doesn'tmatter what data you bring to the table.
It's because there's always one other personout there that agrees with him that
they just everybody wants to score pointson some mythical scoreboard to get their zinger

(46:30):
in, and then that's it.Nobody's convinced of anything. Everybody just walks
away feeling like they're smarter than theother guy or girl. At the end
of the day, I want thisteam to be the best possible team it
can be. And yeah, Iknow I've seen some of the texts.
Yes, I grew up in KansasCity. I'm not a Chiefs fan anymore.

(46:50):
Not really. I don't think Ican be a Broncos fan if I
have to cover the team. Idon't think I can be a fan like
I'm a fan of the game offootball. Are good fun, more fun
if they were good? But Idon't. I mean, like I always
hate to say, well, beinggrew up. Ag, Yeah I grew
up. I can't say I waslike you know what I was. I
grew up. I grew up inChicago. I lived Chicago for four years.

(47:13):
Not a Bears fan. I livedin Nashville for a year. I'm
not a Titans fan. Of coursethey weren't there at that point in time.
But that is a nice priest homesJersey you have on tonight though.
Yeah right, really, the redand yellows really brings up my eyes right
with that fresh cut, this looksgood. Wouldn't got my ears lower today?
Three yet five. I'm very muchfor Denver going corner, but picking

(47:35):
up picks makes sense because that doesn'tsound like there's a head and shoulders best
corner four or five, they're close. I would say that there are two
that are better than the rest, and that's Quinen, Mitchell and Terry and
Arnold, and then after that there'skind of a muddled group of people.
If they do trade back, youknow what I'd love get trade back.
You get an edge rusher and acorner. You got a lot to in
a corner like Max Melton. I'dlove to see something like that, just

(48:00):
round this defense back out into apowerhouse until Sean Payton finds his quarterback,
which you know would you'd be lookingat probably next year this team comes away
with a Carson Beck or Quinn yoursor should do he Sanders or whatever next
year and a loaded defense or aDak Prescott and free agency as another possibility.

(48:23):
I'm just saying five six six ninezero seven two os. What about
kool aid? Later in the firstanother Alabama got a pariser tan Oh Yeah,
that's that's the whole reason I wantedto do that, just so if
they if they like, if thathappens, I promise you I am cutting

(48:45):
in a Dave and al and theirreactions just to say, yeah, like
we're having the kool Aid sound bydounderstand by then, I promise you if
that happens, I think I thinkit was Nick. Were you here that
night when I was with Nick? The Okay, I just want kol Aid
m chemistry just for the name. Can draft his name. I have the
drop still, Torey Kathy. Guyswhat I was talking about earlier. If

(49:08):
you missed it, it'll intel thatthe Rams are looking for offensive tackle and
might be in the move up positionwith the Broncos the Raiders. We'll see
if this thing goes around the Giants. I know there's a couple of people
lately projecting them to trade up tofour for JJ McCarty. When I when
I had talked to people over there, they like JJ McCarty, but I

(49:30):
wasn't convinced that they were willing totrade up for him. They were hoping
he was just gonna fall back intotheir lap. Because as it's starting to
to sit and I know New Englandwanted to trade out of three, but
I'm starting to get the vibe thatthey're not going to do it. Then
Robert, the ownership is gonna puttheir thumb on the scale and say get
the quarterback in Drake May. Andthey're definitely higher on Drake May than JJ

(49:53):
McCarthy there, I believe. Sothat's that's my belief based on conversation I
have had. So I would suggestthat I think as of today, one,
two, three is gonna go KaylebWilliams, Jade and Daniels Drake May.
And then the fun begins at four. Does Arizona trade out or take
Marvin Harrison Junior? Do the Chargerstrade out, take Mylakue Neighbors, take

(50:19):
an offensive lineman. From what Iunderstand, they would like to trade out
of five and take an offensive lineman. And the but the thing about that
is is the Chargers are not goingto trade with the Broncos. Jim Harbaugh
is not gonna send his boy fromMichigan to a division rival to play twice
a year. And so then theGiants are sitting there at six watching McCarthy
fall in their lap, especially ifMylaie Neighbors is gone already in the Charges,

(50:46):
They'll trade out. We're gonna doit all tomorrow night. Nick Ferguson'll
be back. Listen to the BroncosCountry to Night here on Kawa Say fifty
