hands expanded? So I'm trying tolike fix his headphones that are like I
can't get. I'm gonna have todrive the other folds here a little bit,
Dave had. Dave just got awave in your head than I do,
extended like stretch armstrong, his headin that big hands. All these

(00:21):
things were set up, but thesethings were set up for somebody with a
mellon oh No. Five six sixtynine zeros in texaw On Broncos Country to
Night, Benjamin all Bride, DickFerguson, Grant Smith with you here tonight
Post Draft, React Show, BigShow Tonight. Tim Jenkins's gonna join us
seven thirty five. We've got ourexclusive interview with George Peyton. We'll be

(00:42):
playing that uh, Jeff Schwartz ora NFL offensive lineman and Oregon Duck.
He's got some insight on bow Nick'sTroy Franklin. He's gonna join us to
talk a little bit about the picksfrom Oregon. Overall, I thought it
was an interesting draft. Uh.I did leak the draft PA about five
hours before the draft. For thoseof you that pay attention every year when

(01:03):
I do stuff like that, Thisyear was I thought was way too easy
and I felt like too many peoplepicked up on it too fast. Where
I used the first letter of eachsentence at a tweet and spelled out it's
bo. People very much picked upon that very fast. So I'm gonna
have to be a little more creativenext year. I mean, what do
you think there's some kind of suspensemovie or something, because usually that's what

(01:25):
happens. We was talking about anight Shyamalan around here. I tried to
give it the Shyamalan twist. Well, yeah, that's kind of like those
letters that they that you see inthose hostage movies, where like every fort
letter it means something and you haveto kind of decipher what it means.
That's what you were trying to putout. Yeah, last year, I

(01:46):
didn't know the picks, so Ididn't I knew who they might go after,
but I didn't know the pick lastyear. So I didn't do it
last year, but the year before. There's been several years before I did
it, four or five different times. One time it was the first letter
of each tweet that day. SoI'm gonna have to I'm gonna have to
find something creative next year. I'mgonna have to do something a little different
to change it up. Yeah. But uh, anyway, we we got

(02:09):
we got ourselves a quarterback, BoneNicks. We got his Uh, we
got his binky in Troy Franklin afew rounds later. But is he not
a binkie? You know I had. A quarterback needs a binky. You
need a binky, a blanket, you know, a safety blanket. You
got your guy. So what doyou mean now? Bone Nicks is like
Lioness from Charlie Brown. Maybe alittle less dirty than that, but you
know how it is. The everyquarterback needs you know what I'm talking.
Maybe the kid needs your pinky.Every quarterback needs your binky. It's just

(02:30):
binky. Isn't it better to justsay safety net? That's a lot better
than binkie. I'm going thinky,No, I think it's more safety net
because that that that now too grownup. I'm trying to keep it.
I'm trying to keep it fun aroundhere. Why you gotta keep it so
adolescent? Right? Is how longare you man? How long you know?

(02:57):
Oh maybe you know exactly what itwas doing before the show. You
are four hundred and twenty percent sureof what I was doing before the show?
Yes, for sure, my sixsix nine zeros text line. I
got a lot of people asking meabout Courtland Sutton stuff. What they want
to know about court I have theBroncos are trade him the steel I will
say this, The Steelers have beencalling. They've called about several receivers.

(03:21):
They called the Niners about Ayuk, they called the Seahawks about d k Uh,
they called the Broncos about Courtland. There is no Dune deal at this
point, but they have been heavilypursuing adding a wide receiver in trade.
And I would suggest this sooner thanlater that trade will get done. Well,
it's always great if you're a player. It's like there's a pro in

(03:43):
the con The pro is knowing asthough there are other teams that are open
and buying for your ability because they'reyou know, making phone calls. The
downside is that Carly Jona roster ofa team that's fielding those calls and just
trying to see what the offer is. And it's best serve the team.
Well, we know this as players. This is part of the business itself.

(04:05):
Now, I don't know if theBroncos will see receive an offer now
that the draft is now completed thatwould have them to trade Courtland Sudden,
But that's not to say that itmay not happen down the line. Maybe
after OTA's and Mini camps, whenother teams look at their rosters and young

(04:27):
guys and some of their veterans andjust see, okay, well it's not
meshing at this moment, then theymay call the Broncos again. Hey,
remember you know we were talking beforethe draft about Courtland Sudden. Can we
still do that? Are you stillopen to what you said that you'll be
willing to part ways with him?For so those conversations are always ongoing.
But with the current moves that theBroncos are making, I can understand INFI

(04:53):
trade were to be made, whyit would be beneficial for both parties.
One, as all we've seen GeorgePayton in the past. You look at
Bradley Chub and you look at VonMiller. He put those guys in great
situations either when the Super Bowl, get paid whatever you want. But looking
at where the Broncos are with youngquarterbacks, young players, I can easily

(05:15):
see the mindset of the justification iswe're moving in a different direction and we
want to make sure we surround Bowwith a bunch of guys that can grow
with him. So that's kind ofthe business of football. Yeah, I
think if you look at what theBroncos have in terms of receivers with little
Jordan, Tim Patrick coming back, you drafted Vala. I think they feel
like they could probably get the productionthey needed out of the X receiver.

(05:39):
Out of those three, you hadsome combination of that three and probably pick
up some draft capital moving on fromcourt if you don't want to be here
and going from there. So we'llsee if that if that ends up happening.
They did try to dealing last year. They had something in place with
the Ravens, sort of fell throughthere after the Odell Beckham and Tim got
hurt and all that. So yousaid something very interesting, and I don't

(05:59):
know if you know something I don'tknow, but you said that, you
know, like Corton made, Iwant to be here. Do you think
at the end of the day,Corton looks at the situation to say well,
this place is no longer can doso for me based on the moves
that they make. I think CourtlandSutton's up on a new contract and recognizes
he's going to have some combination ofjared' Stidham, bo Nicks, a rookie

(06:20):
bo Nicks, and Zach Wilson throwinghim the football in a contract year.
That's what I think. Listen man. Once again, I get it from
both sides, and you know me, I'm a very optimistic person and I
want to see this organization and hisfan base get back to the standard it
was before I arrive and during mytime here, And if that means that

(06:42):
Corland is put in a better placethat is going to allow him to get
the financial conversation that he deserves, then listen man, I'm all forward.
In that case. It's a winwin. That's what. I Just want
everybody to be happy, and ifCourtland wants to go elsewhere to be happy,
so be it. Don't it's adon't worry, be happy for last
week. He's giving the Broncos enough, like he doesn't owe the Broncos anything

(07:03):
at this point. He toiled throughsome pretty terrible quarterback play over the years,
because there. Everyone doesn't look atit that way. They don't think
about it. Well, the numberof quarterbacks that Collins had to play with,
or even Jerry Doo they had toplay with, they just look at
Hey, these guys did not performthe way that I hope he would on

(07:23):
my fantasy team. So because ofthat, I'm a little upset. I
mean, yeah, And at theend of the day, if that's if
that's where you're at, that's whereyou're at. I'm not for me.
I want people that want to behere. And the reason I say that
is because you've got a rookie quarterbackand he's gonna need support, and I
don't want people here that don't wantto be here to build that. If

(07:46):
you want to be here to buildit, It's just like with anything,
you know, you think about yourside hustle, right, like this thing
you're doing on this whatever it is, and people hearing the same thing,
Like whatever you're building, you don'twant You don't want some haters sitting there
hanging like. You want people thatwant to help you out. I want
to build that thing with you,not people they are sitting there criticized.
But who was to saying that hedoesn't want to be here. It's just
the idea said if okay, Butjust like you laid out, there are

(08:09):
certain things that are out of playerscontrol at time, but it still affects
your bottom line. And Corland happensto be in that situation. I support
his right to go get the back, especially with a familiar quarterback that you
happen to like. And oh,by the way, the Steelers wide receiver
coach is Zachzoni A mint I didn'trealize that because Zach was in with the

(08:31):
Jets. He was very interesting.Yea, let go hmm. Well,
I mean we did see Corlan haveten touchdowns, that's the most by Broncos
wide receiver in some time. Soit wouldn't be wild for him to link
up with Russell with Arthur Smith inPittsburgh. But the business of football is

(08:52):
never great. It's never great forthe organization and it's definitely not great for
the player because you build a certainlevel of rapport with the teammates in the
locker room of things that you doin the community and with the fan base,
and then now you're being told atsome point or another, for whatever
reason it is, we have tomove on because we feel as though this
isn't the best interest of the team. And at this point, I mean,

(09:16):
Court's holding out because he's only gottoo manion guaranteed left on his deal.
He wants the extension and he probablywants to get it done while ten
touchdowns are still fresh in everybody's mindinstead of, you know, trying to
hustle through a season. That's that'sgot a rookie quarterback Jared Stidham and Zach
Wilson. But once again the guys, yeah, the business with the capital

(09:39):
B because once again you got tostrike why while the iron is high,
and like you said, those tentouchdowns are still fresh in the minds of
so many people. So if youcan somewhat negotiate, and we'll just say,
negotiate in good faith because all ofthis is voluntary. It is not
mandatory. It's voluntary. So ifthere could be some good face negotiations and

(10:03):
maybe an extension could be reached,He stays. If the team feels his
old no, that's not what wewant to do. We're showing that we're
officially turned the page. We're goingto go in a different direction, and
we just want to put you ina great situation because you, in fact
did a great job here. Heyman, I'm off for that too.
I am too. How did youthink about the Broncos draft going out there
and get Bonix? They didn't tradeback, obviously, had a lot of

(10:24):
surprises there at the top, specificallyat eight with the Atlanta Falcons and Michael
Pennich Falcony. I was like, how are you? How do you up
twenty eight three in the draft andlose? Wow, that's gonna pissed some
Falcon fans off, who definitely rememberwhat the Patries did to them. But
I really felt comfortable with what theBroncos were doing, and we talked about

(10:48):
it here, not going up reachingpossibly staying at twelve, picking your guy
if it is a quarterback, butif not moving back. And it's funny
that you mentioned what happened with theFalcons. That move right there with Pennix,
in my opinion, tilted the wholedraft. And what it did it
forced the Vikings to decide to moveup over the Jets to take JJ Mcconviks

(11:11):
were already on McCarthy, so theDics didn't affect them one way or the
other. But but no, itdidn't. But the kind of fast Shrek
things because they thought Denver might moveup. Denver wasn't moving up for McCarthy.
And I will tell you, andI I told everybody this on Twitter,
but I'll tell her by on thisshow. Bow Nicks was QB three
for the Denver Broncos in this draft. It was Kayleb Williams, Jaden Daniels
and bow Nicks. And that's ateam that identified their quarterback and said,

(11:37):
well, we're going to sit inour pocket and wait for him. And
I think when Pennix was taken in, you know, by the Falcons at
eight, there might have been conversationsat you know, U S Health training
facility that maybe the Broncos might moveback, But when that happened, it
was like, no, there's nochance, because the ladies were sitting at
thirteen, right, and I knowthat they would have taken both. We

(11:58):
all know that, yes, peopleover there they would have taken a bot
Nick. So I get that. But the Falcons man surprising everybody at eight
by taking Michael Pannix and then gettingabsolutely destroyed at the media. I haven't
seen a Falcons fan a Falcons Ihave not seen something that embarrassing out of
a falcon since Anthony Mackie was gettinghis butt kicked by Paul Rudd. At
the end of it, Man Rotherthot, you're going to say you haven't

(12:20):
seen something of that embarrassing until you'relike seeing a falcon poop or something.
No, no, no, thatmeans he's falcon, you know. For
you know, how long I workedon that, nick, yea, how
long I worked on that? Well, see I would okay, I was
out there laugh at that joke infront of the mirror for like two hours.
Well, I wasn't expecting the introspectivevision and all bright I thought I
was. I was going to getthe you know, the bird pooping on

(12:43):
the car type, you know,I said, I said for twenty not
like you know, I reverted tomy childhood thirteen going on thirty. I'm
just saying that's where I thought youwere gonna go with it. But yeah,
I mean, that's exactly what theFalcons did that end of the day.
And I tried to let the youknow, members of Broncos Country know

(13:03):
this. For years, you guyshave ostracized the team in an organization for
not taking a quarterback of the futurewhen everyone else had their quarterback and then
the team goes out and get thatparticular quarterback and you still upset. I
understand. On the one hand,I understand trying to air quote set yourself
up for the future. But theother part of these years, Michael Pennix
is the second oldest quarterback draft inthe first round of the two thousands.

(13:26):
Twenty four. Yeah, it's likehim, Bo, Nixon, Brandon Wheedon
are the three oldest quarterbacks ever takenthe first round of the two thousands.
Man some COVID years man the superseniors, Yeah, super duper seniors.
I mean, you know, wow. But once again the Broncos, I
guess. I guess on paper, and you can say realistically, they found

(13:46):
their quarterback. So it's like everyonepump pumped their brakes. You might have
had another guy in mind that youwanted the team to select. So what
kick rocks right, don't don't cryover spilled milk. They have quarterback and
it's a quarterback in both knicks whoyou and I talked about. Oh,
we feel fits well with Sean Payton, and I'll say this coach Payton will

(14:09):
have to make some adjustments to theway that he ran his offense from from
a play calling standpoint right, becauseno one in the rule applies to coaches
and the players. You can't survivein this league by staying the same.
So I'm hoping with having a ZachWilson and the bow Knicks, we're going
to see a different type of offense. Not saying that you take your whole

(14:31):
playbook that you've been working on allyour years and you throw it away.
No, he just adds Toto wrinklesto it, and I expect to see
that with addition of Jack Wilson andBo Knicks. Yeah, I mean,
I think bow Knicks fits the offenseas Sean Payton wants to rub Bo Knicks
doesn't take sacks. Bonix doesn't fumblethe ball. Bonnicks did not fumble the

(14:52):
ball his entire Oregon tenure. That'sa quartered tenure, the entire two years
he was at Oregon. He didn'tfumble them, didn't lose a fumble,
didn't fumble it. Well, thatwould say that here's a couple of things.
He got the ball out of hishands on time and rhythm, and

(15:13):
his offensive line did a decent jobof protecting him. And when they didn't,
he did a great job of scramblingand then still being able to get
the ball out of his hand.Walk Because Sean Payton's two biggest complaints with
Russell Wilson were sacks and fumbled andhe talked about that. He talked about
during the season, he talked aboutit after the season. He might not
have singled the russ out by aname, but it was pretty obvious what

(15:33):
he was talking about. And soI think that you know, when you
look at what bo Nix brings tothe table, does he have the strongest
arm in the world? Is heJosh Allen, No, there's a plenty
strong arm. And we'll get achance to talk to Jef Schwartz about that
later, who played at Oregon, obviously watching bone Nicks. But he makes

(15:54):
pretty quick decisions. He gets ridof the football quickly, he protects the
football, doesn't get intercepted very often, he doesn't ge intercepted, he doesn't
fumble, it doesn't suck. Andthe thing about a Sean Payton offense,
it is a schedule offense, meaningif you're a quarterback that doesn't take negative
plays, you're probably going to besuccessful in it. That's why Teddy Bridgewater
looks so good in that offense.Yeah, it's about timing and rhythm.

(16:17):
And you think about Drew Brees inhis own right, and Drew Brees was
deficient in certain areas which forced himto speed up that clock. He knew
that he wasn't a guy that canescape the pocket and avoid edge rushers.
So his superhuman power would be,hey, being able to see it,

(16:40):
throw it, get rid of itright. And when you look at both
Nicks, you always think about, like I have a chance to watch it,
go back and watch a couple ofgames, and it's a tight window
throws and being able to squeeze aball in a certain place where only your
receiver can catch it. And Bobdid a good job in college being able

(17:00):
to do that. Now learning adifferent system, working with and operating with
different receivers, that's gonna be somewhatof a task until he actually gets a
chance to know those particular wide receivers. But known as though he has the
capabilities been of making those types ofthrows. I see why Sean Payton kind
of high affinity form I do,and I like to pick. I'm not

(17:23):
you know, I'm not opposed tothe pick. You know, I,
like a lot of people, preferencewould have been maybe a little bit of
a trade back, but that becameimpossible once Atlanta did what they did.
You knew you couldn't move back. You knew that was not going to be
something you were going to be ableto do. You had to get your
guy, and they went and didit. I will tell you that if
that hadn't played out that way andthey were able to take someone else in

(17:47):
the first round, it would havebeen a lot to I can tell you
that. But at the end ofthe day, you get bo Nicks,
you get an edge rusher in thesecond round, and it's somebody with Broccos
ties. You know. One ofmy former teammates, Luther l Let's say,
you know what, during the draft, I'm going to three with like
twenty of my former teammates and someone'slike, damn, Lui's got another son.

(18:08):
Yeah, just like, well, how many how many kids? Does
he have five kids in the leagueor whatever? I'm like, who is
there like a sister that's like arocket sciences? I don't. I don't.
And people always talk about when wesay, well the connection with player
and the dad that played in theleague, we often hear about quarterbacks,
but I think someone needs to doa story on Luther Ella's and his kids.

(18:30):
Yeah, because Noah Christian, nowyou got Josh you I mean you
got the else kids are? Youknow taking away It's just like the mccafferies
to playing defense exactly. It's thattype of thing. But you know they
don't get they don't show defensive playerslove not in the league. You can
tell about the rules, how theysaid the rules every year, always the
favorite the offense. Uh So theEllis pick was one that I liked.

(18:52):
It was a it was a productionpick. Now he's got he's got a
foot is shoot, but he'll behealthy and good go. I think it
was a Jones fracture. And forthose of you don't know, Jones fractures
on the outside of the foot likethe pinky toe. It has to do
with the bone out there, soit's not as serious as some of the
other foot issues. And he's gotplenty of time for that tea to heal
and go from there. You lookahead. After getting Ellis, they didn't

(19:17):
trade into the third round, theydidn't burn up any draft capital on that,
but they did at the top ofthe fourth round and the coverage here
on KOA was getting started early onSaturday morning. We were worried we were
going to be in for a wait, and boy were we mistaken, as
the Broncos traded up immediately for thesecond pick of the fourth round. It's
like Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin.Franklin was a favorite of mine during the

(19:38):
season, talked about him on theshow quite a bit. Didn't think the
Broncos were gonna be able to doubledip like that. Didn't think they would
do that with receiver. And theywent and got two receivers at Franklin,
and they went out and got Valaout of Utah. Now he's a little
bit older. It was great lookinginto Broncos and the fact of what they
did. And for me, thisis building the foundation from the up.

(20:00):
If you're going to take you know, Bo Nixon, make him your future
quarterback, you know, you needto start surrounding him with talent and getting
him a receiver that he's familiar with. To me, that connection is spot
on day one. And we've gota center he's familiar with too, and
Alex Forsyth that he took snaps fromlast year. We're gonna get into George
Peyton and our exclusive interview with himwhen we come back and listening to Broncos

(20:21):
Country to Night right here on Kiawei. Welcome back to it, Broncos Country
Tonight, Benjamin ol Brighten, NickFerguson, Grant Smith here with you.
Ryanfords and I had a chance tosit down with Broncos general manager George Peyton
right after the draft concluded. Youstarted by asking George, how you doing
good? Really good guy, Well, you're getting Texas six am, so
it's yeah, it's not a lotof sleep. Yeah, well, I

(20:44):
can't imagine. You're pretty excited aboutit. I wanted from a big picture
standpoint, and we talked to youabout this out of the combine. Back
to back drafts with the same staff, with the same coaching staff, that's
got to be really important for continuityfor you and for the vision of what
you're trying to put together here. It's just another year with the scouts learning
the system, the coaches and thenthem the trust between the coaches and scouts,

(21:04):
and so you're just you're not learningevery year, you're learning a new
system. Now we're in the samesystem. The scouts are experts on what
the coaches want, what Sean's visionis. So it's been really good this
process. Maybe it's just me,but you seemed as relaxed and as loose
as I've ever seen you in theafter the presser last night after the second
round. Is that a byproduct offinally having the compensation for acquiring Sean accring

(21:29):
Russ kind of behind you? Guysare playing with a full deck again.
It is nice to have picks.I mean, I didn't like today,
you know, the break we hadfrom five to seven. You know,
we made some trades and then youknow, I think I told moods.
You know, I don't want Idon't want this to happen again. You
know, you like picking, Youlike having a lot of picks. So
it was nice having, you know, next year of a second and so
no, so it's good. I'myou know, I felt good last night,

(21:51):
feel better tonight or today? Andso I think it was good.
I'd love to know. And thisis a little bit more behind the scenes
kind of conversation, but from ascouting perspective because of players, you know,
transitioning and changing and doing the transferportal, specifically guys like Bow Nicks.
Right, you have Auburn and you'rescouting your regional scouts there and then
you got Origin all the way uphere in the regional scouts. How do

(22:11):
you marry up all of that whenyou probably have two different scouting visions with
these players. Yeah, but we'veseen and we have a national scout overseas
that that side of part of thecountry, half the country, and then
you have the director season you know, at both places. So we have
enough coverage and certainly been watching Bosince he was at Auburn early at Auburn,
and so we know, you know, the whole evolution of Bo Nicks

(22:33):
as a college quarterback. Certainly.Yeah. I think a lot of people
are going to talk about the factthat you drafted Knicks and Franklin teammates,
maybe less so on the Utah pair, but this is hardly a first time
thing for you had Benito and DTLwhy you had back in the Browning and
Jonathan Cooper Cooper? Yeah, isthat a planned thing? You guys?
Always in honor of the last yearof the Pac twelve, we draft.

(22:55):
I'm a PAC twelve guy UCLA andso really was more of that than anything.
But no, I mean if youcan get teammates, it's that that's
never the plan. Obviously we did. We did have some good intel from
bow yesterday here, but we knewyou know, Troy very well. But
it's always good to have teammates here, you know. It was an aggressive
move to move up for for TroyFranklin, and I did like kind of

(23:15):
in the press conference. It soundsto me like for for coach Peyton,
it wasn't necessarily a direct tie tobow Nicks. He likes him and what
his skill set independent, Yeah, and he talked about his release quicks,
just his pure speed and ability togo get it. You know, it's
it was pretty unique probably the reallywhen you look at the draft, he's
one who could get on top.And we watched every game of BO for

(23:36):
the last two years over and overand over, and one thing you saw
with Troy Flankin Franklin getting vertical.Yeah, when you look at this thing,
I want to ask what you weremost surprised by. Were you,
like the rest of us dorks outhere when Michael Penix went to the Falcons
that hey, we were like, wait a minute, one or was there
something else that maybe jumped out ofyou the surprise yet, well, that
was a surprise. We liked MichaelPenix a lot, but we never heard
that, like it was just onethat was out of nowhere, and that

(23:57):
you have those every draft, andso that was a huge surprise, especially,
I mean we were tracking that hard. You know, there are six
quarterbacks and all of a sudden therewas you know, there was one left,
you know, and we're like,oh my gosh. So that was
a huge surprise. That's the onethat sticks out obviously, especially because of
you know, what they did inthe off season. Certainly speaking of a
bit of surprise. So after picktwelve when you guys selected bon Nicks,

(24:18):
we actually broke an NFL record ingap between quarterback picks in the draft and
us sure if you're aware of that, but yeah, we it was at
like one hundred and twenty six andwe went way beyond that since nineteen seventy
two. What does that tell youabout this class? Well, all the
chairs are filled, obviously there waswhen you have six go not not every
team needs a quarterback or a backupquarterback. And so it tells me it's

(24:40):
a really good class, a reallystrong class. And Spencer Ratler is a
good player. I mean for himto go where they get him O six.
We spent a lot of time withhim. We liked him, and
we figured he'd go in the secondday. How devastated were you when you
sat down with Nick and that mullet, that sweet sweet mullet was shaved off
there at the end. Did that? Did that maybe make you pause?
That's part of it. It's anold lineman. You love that. You

(25:04):
don't want him to be too handmean, he didn't have the mustache,
did he? No, he sayshe shaved it all off. Get the
glamour shot in his pition, right. I was looking at his headshot.
I was devastated, you know, talking to him. But no, I
mean he's a he's a double majorfrom from Yale. You've taken smart guys
before Hittingston. You've talked about that. How how important is external intelligence in
this processit ude, especially for aline. You know how hard that position

(25:26):
is, especially the mental side ofit. And he is really smart,
he's really tough, and he's reallybig, and that's that's kind of Zach
Streef in a nutshell, and that'skind of what we like here. All
right, last couple here for youreally appreciate the time. Another thing that
was unique about this draft is seeingso many offensive players go in the first
round, another NFL record twenty threeplayers. So what does that tell you?
Is that just specific to this draft? Is this a trend you think?

(25:48):
I think it's more specific to thisdraft. This was an extreme you
know, was its first eleven picks. It was all I don't know what
it was. We knew it.I mean when you going into the draft
and it was gonna be a littlelighter on defense, you talked about there
was a lot of D linemen, you know, safeties was you know,
inside light. It just wasn't asdeep maybe his other years. So I
just think it's just this specific tothis year. Last one here estimate,
I thought that was one of thesteals for you guys among several draft picks.

(26:15):
But estimate hearing that that Sean thinkshe could be a first and second
down running back. Oh yeah,I mean he's he has incredible vision,
he's big, he's downhill, he'shard to tackle. He has really good
feet for a big man, andgreat contact balance. He can catch the
ball out of the backfield. Iknow he didn't run a great forty.
That's great, That's why I slipped. But you look at the ten,

(26:36):
it's a lot faster. You lookat the vertical, you look at the
other things that are more important fora running back, you know, short
shuttle, three coat whatever. Youtalk to the guys at Notre Dame and
you just watch the tape. It'snot hard. You know, my son
could probably group evaluate that. That'swhat he said on the forty. He
said it didn't matter for Kien Williams. Don't matter if an he's hard to
tackle. Yeah, one more quickone. You said one of your goals
coming out of this draft and comingout of the free agent period is you

(26:56):
wanted to sure up the defensive line, especially against the run. How do
you like you did that? Ifeel better. I mean, you know,
we started with Roach, then wesigned Blaxton, and then we made
the trade for JFM, and youknow, I think we'll just keep it.
It's a working product. We gotZach Allen, you know, get
Henderson, and we got DJ Joe. I mean we have a really good
you know, we have good depthnow. So I feel a lot better

(27:17):
than the season ended, for sure. Congratulations George, Yeah, really fun
class. Thank you so appreciate youguys. Yeah, thank you. The
replay of our exclusive interview with GeorgePeyton right after the draft, it ended
George looked real relaxed. I pointedthat out to you looked real relaxed after
the day two of the draft, and I asked him straight up. I
was like, hey, look man, how much of that is because the

(27:40):
Russell Wilson Sean Payton trades are behindyou now, like you're playing with a
full deck. And he kind of, you know, he gave a smile
and kind of, you know,he gave the diplomatic answer, but the
eyes kind of lit up and hekind of smiled and you know, and
kind of nodded. At that point. It's tough. I mean, you're
you're a gentle manager. You haveit, had a first round pick since
Patser Tan, you know, andyou've been you've been you've been struggling to

(28:02):
try to cobble all that together andnow you know, now that's behind you.
Now you're playing with a full deckgoing Ford. Oh, by the
way, you got your quarterback. You know what when I saw that interview,
what I thought of when you know, I heard that question, I
thought, man, what a goodquestion by Ben Man. I think it's
a great question, Like that's thefirst thing that came to my mind.
I thought he was going to sayit too, and I was going to

(28:23):
be able to stack the Peyton andPeyton. I was fishing for it,
but I couldn't. I couldn't quitedraw it out of him, you know.
So you know Ben was going totry to attack things from that standpoint.
Hey, look, we're not reallyinterviewing George Peyton so much as he
is sitting there interviewing me. Oh, okay, whatever, get it.
Okay. You ever recall you weren'tthere for this, but when uh,

(28:48):
when Ryan and I were doing theshow that that one, uh, I
don't know if Grant was there yetor not. Where that whole summer we
staged all the photographs to make itlook like the players were actually interviewing me
instead of the other way around. It was before by you, we did
what a whole training camp where everytime we interviewed someone, we would take
the picture with like we give themthe microphone to hold and then like like
and then as soon as they they'reholding the microphone out, we snapped so

(29:10):
it looks like Emmanuel Sanders is interviewingme. It was the whole summer of
like players interviewed like as a asA as a riff. This is your
brain show, right. He cameup with this concept. I always trying
to have fun with it, Likethat's the thing. I'm trying to do
something a little different every time andhave a little fun with it. Speaking
of a little bit different, oneof my favorite draft picks in this draft

(29:30):
I was the offensive lineman that wegot from South Carolina and we had a
chance to talk to him. Firstof all, this guy is a double
major from Yale in political science andeconomics, so graduated, went to South
Carolina to play here and got drafted. That's it's important to know that because

(29:51):
if you go look at his headshot, he may have been old business on
the field, but there was aparty in the back. He better grow
that message. By the way, uniform number sixty nine, sixty nine nice.
You can tell he's got a senseof humor. Doesn't think it's always
funny because like they get him onthe phone, and what happens is with
these prospects, like there's a wholethere's a media scrum where everybody in media

(30:14):
goes in and gets on this likeconference call right now the KWA we're just
we're the partner, so we don'tgo get on that conference call. We
get an exclusive with them right afterthat, right and so the he's in
there doing that, and what's hername? Megan comes out and we're talking
and she's like, yeah, hewas real derect. She's like, let
me know that the calls got aboutto happen all this, And I asked

(30:34):
her, I was, you know, because I was asked her like how
were they, you know, orif there's something I should follow up on,
and she's like, uh, realdirect, one more ANSWER's good luck.
And then we had the interview withhim, and we opened him right
up by leading with the haircut andthe mustache, because I guess that nobody
had seen nick and I don't knowhow to pronounce his last name. Maybe
you can ask him something like that. It's like gargido, I'm gonna go

(31:00):
okay, we're gonna go get butthat's probably wrong. I don't know it
was. I'm telling you, theguy is hilarious. And I was devastated
to find out they shaved off themullet and the stash and now he's got
like this this short crop buzz cutwith this goatee, and he looks more
like Travis Kelcey than he does likeyou know, uh Billy Milk. No

(31:21):
know, Travis kelce It looked,I mean, he looks like somebody he
was more like Steve is a gallthan hard to kill, right, I'm
telling no, I'm okay. Sonow he looks like Travis Kelcey with we
had we had the mullet and thestash. He looked like like like hill
Billy Melkiper. Well, I don'tknow about that, but the South Carolina

(31:42):
photo with the Steve is a Galllike if Melk Kuiper was from Alabama in
the nineteen seventies, that was him. And he's got he's got the wet
looks. Oh yeah, he's gotthe Camaro cut. I don't know.
Well he said said what he hadthea the Camaro cut. No, no,
no talking about no, no,no, this is the yeah that

(32:06):
that owns that man owns a carwith a flaming golden hawk on the hood.
Yes he does. I think it'san now Camino with I'm talking about,
yes, yes, the same thesame one that Burt Reynolds drove smoking
and smoking the bad I guarantee heowns one. Yes, Yes, he

(32:27):
has that look that you know whenyou go to a club. Is that
bouncer in l A or whatever isthat who doesn't want to let you in?
He has that look. This isn'ta bouncer in l A. L
A stands for losing at him.Know that haircut, that mustache. You
me see his haircut changed his wholepersona. It does because now he looks
like he listens to Paul Wall.Yes, and I and I know why
he did it. Because he wantedto make sure that he had the right

(32:52):
look walking in right like because he'scoming in for a job interview, he
cuts his hair. Yeah, butI'm going to tell you that head shut.
He was all business up front withthe original haircut. Look. Man,
he should have come in and maintainthat look, because this is the
same type of look minus the mustache, or even with the mustache. Greg

(33:14):
Dulsige, Yeah, I mean thisis way more like. No, dulc
just got like the cur like thelong you know, the curly air and
all that kind of stuff. Andthen where's the like the weird sigh shorts
that I like I'm like doing projust because you don't have the legs to
pull it. You know what I'msaying, that's all jealousy. See,
that's what it is. It's ajealousy. Got he's got thighs like a

(33:36):
gazelle. But it's it's I Idon't I don't understand why you would do
that. Like I don't understand whyyou would you would cut that glorious mane
off because you're trying to make surewhen you go on. Well see with
this one, it would have beenmore intimidating the one he has now with
the high Fai, it's more ofa relax, updated look. But this

(34:00):
one is that's like this other onesays like I owned denim shirts, denim
shirts. How does this look meanthat you owned a denim shirt? The
original the original long hair mustache looksays, I own only denim shirts.
So he would he would have fitwell in the band with haul of notes
that guy and Gardner Minshew hang outfor sure. I'm just saying I like

(34:22):
this look on the South Carolina pagemore because it looks like if you say
the wrong thing, I'm gonna whipyour tail. Yeah, that's what I
like that look. He looks likea bouncer at the roadhouse back in the
eighties version a Swayze version. Yes, that not that nerdy crap that got
out there now at the original.Yes, he looked like he would work

(34:43):
at the double Duze. I'm justsaying, yes, you gotta talk hair
back because I I I yeah,I talk. I just devastated on the
call, devastated to find out thatthat he had shaved it off. I
didn't know. Do you think hekept in the bag, like like panois
when they let their kids' hair grow, they cut the locks off and they

(35:04):
just kind of keep it in thebag. How many bags would it take
to hold that much hair? Whenwe see him, we should ask you
that. Did I think guy couldhave gone full mcguiver, feathered and lethal
like there were so many things youcould have done with that hair. Oh,
Grant could pull this off. Iwould love to see Grant and grow
his hair out like this. Yes, I don't know if I could.
I got I got like six cowex it wouldn't look the same. I

(35:29):
think you could pull it off.He needs to bring that mustache back.
It's that was a strong, strongmustache. Double Oh my goodness is ridiculous.
We gotta get a break and comeback. Jess Wartz from a NFL
