Speaker 1 (00:00):
Given the tickets away right off the top. That's a
surprise move. It's a baller move because, like a lot
of times, you hold the tickets to try to get
people to listen all the way through. I bet you
guys are going to listen to this show even though
we got a short show to night, It's could be
an hour and a half show.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Zac Seegers in the studio. How you doing that? Doing great?
Thanks for having me Grat.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Smith back there producing with a awesome mustache as always.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
I had to bring it back. It's a playoff mustache.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Well, that mustache is the reason that sexy Back was
written in the first place. They were going to say
mustache back, but it was too much, so they just
said sexy It's redundant though.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yeah, but I mean JT cleared it with me, so
I gave him the go head.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
And the royalties, you know, and all that kind of stuff.
You're just a benevolent how I love the big life.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Dolent Man five six six nine zeros and text Alne.
You guys, we get involved in the conversation. We had
nuggets and Alves last night. Alves blow it out thanks
to some empty netters there at the end Dallas, and
then you had the Nuggets and I just watching that game,
We've just frustration after frustration with turnover after turnover from
(00:58):
sloppy passing and sloppy play. Uh and then when you know,
it got around of the fourth quarter too a little
too late to try to to try to put that
comeback together. But Game seven's abound, as the Nuggets will
play at five point thirty on Saturday and the Abs
at six o'clock, so we're gonna get we're gonna get
(01:18):
double Game seven action on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
It's really disappointing.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
I guess I get why they have to do it,
despite it being the only Game seven. Everyone wants to
have that Game seven in primetime. But it's really disappointing
that Denver fans are gonna have to kind of be
flipping back and forth on commercials or choosing one or
the other to watch at a time. It'd be great
to get to enjoy both.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Again, you don't have multiple TVs in the seekers household.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Not all of us are living that large bed, not
all of us have.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Picture in picture with the you know, with the the
simul split screens.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Fair, but then you're watching it all small, and that's
up aspect for you got.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
A big enough TV that it doesn't You're gonna get there.
You know what they do. You know what would be great?
Is it like the local movie theaters, like with the
eye put it.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
That's a great idea on the IMAX for you. You know,
you could split it in like four.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
You just put it in half and you sit there
and have the car.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
I mean you would fill that up absolutely, you have four.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
That'd be a great. Yeah, compete with the sports bars.
I'm just saying I'm throwing out ideas.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
So I got bars and everything now like every test
in food, well, I mean inside the movie theater.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
I'm just I'm an ideas man. This is what I do.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
This is uh, this is these are the things I
bring to the table. I have to follow through. But
I'll give you an idea and you can run with it.
Five six, six nine zeros. The text line the nine
on nine says, Ben, do we have any plans to
add to the tight end room or running back room
since we addressed both half hazardly in the draft?
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Also, are we interested in pratt?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Uh? Well, let's start with this. They they added Archie Harvey. Uh,
the tight end was was loner. I mean, that's a project,
so I don't think that there's I mean they're probably
had a veteran into the room in the running back
room because they don't have one, but they they'll probably
add a veteran there, a low cost veteran. But I
think they addressed it just fine. Pratt, are we what
are we talking about? It is Jermaine Pratt.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
It's got to be. I was.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
I was thinking about, UHO, who's the quarterback that came
out of Tulaine last year.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
That's where Michael.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Rating.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
I thought, we're trying to get Chris Brown out here
to Denver or something. I didn't know what's going on there.
Jermaine Pratt would be fun. You can get some winebacker depths.
If he's I don't think he's a fit, and he's
gonna be probably priced out of what we do. My
gut is he'll rejoin Lou out Roumo. Oh that makes
a lot of sense.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
In in Indy.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
I kept saying, because that was the thing when a
couple of weeks ago or whatever we were talking about
this was that he's gonna join Lou Atroumo. And I
kept saying Atlanta and I met Indy, but I kept
saying Atlanta is I'm an idiots that let's get to
the NFL six pack.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Its time for the NFL six pad.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
I'm gonna trade at year insight and insight information you
can't find anywhere else.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
The top six NFL headline what.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Speaking of our j Harvey Uh, Benjamin Solax has ranked
him as the rookie with the twelfth best odds of
winning Offensive Rookie a year. In his eyes, this isn't
official odds.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
He also rings John A.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Barron as the rookie with the thirteenth best odds for
Defensive Rookie of the Year. What do you make of
those outlooks for those two Broncos rookies.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Do you think he's too low or too high on him?
Speaker 4 (04:15):
And who would be your selections for those Offensive Rookie
or Defensive Rookie of the Year awards. I have his
rankings handy too, if you're curious.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Yeah, I mean typically hold on.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Typically the offensive Rookie Year goes to a quarterback, and
typically the defensive Rookie of the Year goes to like
a linebacker or an edge rusher.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Whoever fixed the sack total of the tackle total.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Those guys are usually won, so a corner and a
running back winning it would certainly be a surprise. I
wonder when the last time either one of those who's
been the case.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
I don't know about the last time that.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Notably the New Orleans Saints in twenty seventeen or was
it twenty sixteen. I think it was twenty seventeen, had
Marshaun Lattimore win Defensive Brookie of the Year and Alvin
Kamara win Offensive.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Rookie the Year. Well there you go, Okay, I have
some trivia I did not know.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Yeah, because I'm looking back here right now at Offensive
Rookie of the Year and it's basically quarterback or wide receiver. Now,
Barkley and Kamara won back to back, but for the
most part, it's usually a quarterback or you know, a
wide receiver in those cases for Offensive Rookie.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Of the Year, and then it's almost always an ed dresser.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Like he said on the other side, his top five here,
he's got cam Ward one, Ashton gent two, Amari and
Hampton three, Ted McMillan at four, Tyler Shugg at five,
Travis Hunter at six, Matthew Golden at seven, A Mechabuka
at eight, Punch Shawn Judkins at nine, and Trevion Henderson
at ten.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Since two thousand a dB has only one defensive Rookie
of the Year three times, and that's Marcus Peters, Marshawn Lattimore
and Sauz Gardner. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
So all those guys had a lot of turnovers ball production,
and that is one area where Baron thrauts and.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
You might get shots at it because I mean, like
people tested Riley.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Moss and Pantser ten last year.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
They kind of got away from that, they started going
into million.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Maybe that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Maybe they go up Baron and get some opportunities because
you know they're going to stay away from Sutan. I
if I had to guess, I would say Harvey would
be more likely to win than Baron simply because he
figures to get more touches. But we don't necessarily know
that yet. As far as the rest of it goes,
I mean, I wouldn't put any money out of either one
of those.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
So, well, what happens when the same player wins both awards.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
He's an alien, he's a freak, he's a mutant.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
He's the best.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Player in college football too.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
To that point, Travis Hunter's seventh on the defensive list.
In a recent interview, Hunter Renfro pointed to ulcerative colitis
as the reason for his rapid decline with the Raiders
and subsequent exit from the NFL. Now that he's healthy again,
Renfro is looking to author his comeback story with the
Carolina Panthers. What are realistic expectations for Renfro in twenty
(06:51):
twenty five as he tries to re enter the league.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
You know, it depends on how well he latches on.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
I mean, you obviously have to see him in training camp,
but he's a slide guy.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
You know, he's a pretty decent player at that position.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
He's not really an outside receiver, not really a long
ball guy in it kind of stuff, but is in
a Welker type role. I mean, you know, really just
depends on how well the quarterback can get him the ball.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
At the end of the day, you know, Bryce Young
can can hit him.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Out of the slot, you know, four hundred yards four touchdowns.
I don't think that's outside the realm possibility. And I
catches everything that's throwing his way.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
Yeah, and that type of quick separator I think fits
Young well, even though he looks forty five when he
entered the league, or looked forty five when he entered
the league, he's.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Only twenty nine still.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
So if it really was just that health problem and
he's back two hundred percent, he should still have some
left in the tank. And I mean, there's there's plenty
of room to carve out a role in that Panthers
receiver room. You've got Ted McMillan and Xavier Lagette these
last years, but outside of that, it is really really shallow.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Yeah, they don't they don't have a ton of talent
in that room. It's going to be interesting. I'm pulling
for him. It was funny because you had one of
these fake rumor account NFL RUMs, one of these fake
rumor accounts tweeting out a few weeks ago that he
was set to retire, and then he just quote tweeted
it was like, I don't know who told you this
pro tip, they made it up, but I'm prepping for
(08:14):
my NFL comeback.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
So good for him. Good good for him coming back.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
And they had the Panthers GM on the Pat mcpiece
show the other day and he said that he was
thoroughly impressed.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
By his workout when they brought him in. Yeah, so
I'm oping that he's able to be able to do that.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
Free Drake May underlined his excitement to play with Will
Campbell after Campbell's viral I will die out there trying
to protect the quarterback comments. What are your expectations for
Drake May and those new England Patriots in twenty twenty
five now that he's got some better protection up front?
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Well, I mean Nick got a solid defense. The question
is whether that offense could continue to grow.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
That really is it? And that rests on Drake May
taking the next step forward and then being able to
protect him and those kinds of things. That defense, though,
it's very very good. You're in a division where Buffalo
probably takes the division, but the second place is up
for grabs and Miami.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Dolphins, Uh, they've kind of a mess. The Jets are
not gonna do anything with Justin Fields quarterback and them. So,
I mean, like, what, you know, what what is the what?
Speaker 3 (09:13):
What?
Speaker 2 (09:13):
What do you really have?
Speaker 1 (09:14):
You know?
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Going here? I if I could see them finishing.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Second a division, I don't think that's outside.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
The Roman possibility at all.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Yeah, I think they're gonna give the Broncos run for
their money in the wild card hunt this year, that
AFC Wildcard race, and you know, hopefully the Broncos contend
for the AFC West Crown. But whoever is ends up
having to settle for a wildcard spot is going to
have their work.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Cutout for them.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
I think the Bengals are likely to have a bounce
back here. Last year was disappointing relative to what we've
seen from them. You've got the Patriots rising in the East,
and then you know the Chargers are always the problem
out west.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
So I think it's going.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
To be an uphill climber sure, and then the Steelers
of course in the North too.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Yeah, I man, it's yeah, they could get second that
division conceivably. Like I said, Miami they're a mess. They
may they may wind up clean a house after this year.
The that's they're just getting started with Aaron Glenn and
they don't have the quarterbacks. So second place should be
the you know, it should be the floor for the Patriots.
If you're you know, inside the organization, then you're talking
(10:09):
about stuff. Second place is the floor for us. We
would deferrow Buffalo.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
Yeah, and they didn't have the same level of team
success or I think the same amount of playing time,
But if you compare it to bow Knicks, I think
you played just about as well as bow Knicks. You know,
maybe a flawed season, but that's what you expect from rookies.
I think generally it was a very promising rookie year
and Patriots fans have a lot of reason to be
optimistic about their future at quarterbacks, similar.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
To Broncos Country. Yeah, it's it's interesting.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
They've added, uh, you know, they drafted Will Campbell you
talked about.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
They added Morgan Moses at the.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Other tackle position, Garrett Bradbury at the center. They're they're
serious about getting that together. And then on the on
the receiving core, they've added.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Some guys they have some grit to them.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Us drafting Kyle Williams, which is a great draft, Dick,
they added Stefon Diggs and Mac Collins. Uh, you know,
they're they're gonna be They're gonna be better than they were.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
I still think, as much as I love Mike, Mike
ray Boy as a coach, very year away from being
a playoff contender, or.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
We'll see Josh McDaniels at the OC. Your favorite are
you arguing for or against them as a playoff contender.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
I think they're going to be a playoff contender.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
I hope they're not.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
In a media appearance this week, JJ McCarthy the other
or another I guess young quarterback from that twenty twenty
five class, said he knows he's ready to be the
Vikings starting quarterback.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
When do you think he'll be named.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
The Vikings starting quarterback this season?
Speaker 2 (11:30):
If at all? And what do you expect we see.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
From him this season in his first season actually getting
some regular season action.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
He was already anim of starting quarterback when they rejected
Aaron Rodgers. I mean, he's a guy like that says,
there's not you know, there's there's nothing else to that.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
As far as what we see.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
I mean, you know, I don't know. He was always
a guy I thought was going to have a little
bit further to go, maybe than the other rookies because
he was so young and maybe maybe might need some,
you know, a little bit more seasoning.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
And of course he missed all the reps.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
But I mean, you're you're you're you're up against Sam Howell,
Brett Rippon and Max Brosemer.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Like you you are at the starting quarterback.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
You watch out like Brett Rippon taking that starting that's
going to hustle all them out of their golf money.
Beyond that, I mean, let's let's be real here. J J.
McCarthy is the starting quarterback in Minnesota Vikings and there's
no they're making no bones about that.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
And to that point, I mean, there's really no safety
net for him there in Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
They really went all out.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
The huge time one going into free agency was what
kind of option are they even going to maybe give
Sam Darnold a lot of money so they're ready in
case J. J.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
McCarthy isn't ready coming back from that knee.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
They've left themselves with really no quality alternative.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Well, right, this what was saying, I mean, with all
due respect to Brett and you know, and Sam Howell
and all that kind of stuff, I mean, this is
this is clearly the JJ McCarthy show, and we're clearly
not putting any guys. This was like saying the Stidham
was competition for you know, for Bow, I mean like
he was in training camp, but like really we're you know,
we're running with the rookie Liver.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Dye and Josh Dobbs looked solid in that Kevin O'Connell
offense for Braham Leys for a short while.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
I think he'll make JJ McCarthy a service a world
quarterback to at least five. Today, Tyler Booker became the
first first round pick in this year cycle to ink
their rookie deal. Do you think we'll see any delays
with the Broncos first round signings or the rest of
the class, And do you think we'll see any contentious
negotiations around the NFL regarding the rookie contracts.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
I always think of the Joey Bosa one.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Yeah. No, they're all slotted contracts and at this point
the only thing you're looking at or either.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Offsets or fully guaranteeing. That's that's literally it.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
So no, I don't believe there'll be any contentious negotiations
as far as the Broncos guys go. You may, you know,
you may have them looking for certain offset language in
there and that's about it. But I don't think so.
I mean, these guys are all there. You know, this
is a little bit different than some of those other
things where you're coming into situations where you don't know
what you get. You know what you're coming into in
(14:01):
this situation, so I don't. I don't think there'll be
any They'll get it all done fairly quickly.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
The one thing I've wondered about is why.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
The Broncos always takes so long to get rookie numbers out,
you know, like with the Jersey numbers. Every team is
so quick, but the Broncs like the slowest team when
it comes to that.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
He kills me because I'm so excited and also curious
to see what numbers John A. Barron gonna get because
there's not really an obvious solution. Seven, of course retired
because of John Lay Twenty three is number before you've
got estimate wearing that, and he clearly is part of
their plans going forward. And then what I think he
was eight in high school. I mean, I think with
them only getting RJ. Harvey estimate seems like the clear
(14:38):
compliment that.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
What happens when they go out and sign Nick Chubb.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
I think Julia McLoughlin's the one in more trouble because
of that. J.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Hargey pick well, I don't. I mean, Harvey's not hardy.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Jhaliel are not the same kind of bag Harvey's I
mean they get his short, but yeah, weighs j Leel
by twenty five pounds, so like there's I think he
offers you everything Jalil does and more because he's got
a better contact balance, he's more of a receiving threat.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
That's fair, right, I just yeah, I don't know. We'll see,
we'll see. Six.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
The Titans are unretiring actually speaking kind of where we
were just talking about, the Titans are unretiring the number
one jersey so that cam Ward can wear it for them.
Bray Zabel asked Steve Hutchinson promission to wear number seventy
six for the Seahawks, and we'll get to do so
this season.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
And on the flip.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
Side, Abdua Carter reached out to Lawrence Taylor to try
and wear fifty six and was shot down. Now is
reportedly trying to get eleven from Phil Simms. What do
you make of this recent trend of rookies trying to
get these legends numbers right off the back?
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Warren Moon came out and volunteered to give number one
for cam Ward. I think it's selfish and Lawrence Taylor
to be like, no, I mean you retired it. You
went through the process and all that kind of stuff,
and you had a grace period where nobody had it.
But now you've got a top overall pick. Well, you
know it's this stupid like it's stupid.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Don't need to be selfish. We retire jerseys way, way
too easily.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
And with all due respect to Lauras Taylor, who was
you know, was a great player, we retire jerseys too
easily in football. You've got too many people there to
not have, you know, to be able to do that.
You know, you can retire two three jerseys, but after that,
I mean you've got a ninety man roster. Most those
numbers are going to be taken. But you start doing
zero in double zero like it's like it's a Rulett wheel.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Bronco's country.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
I think will be excited if they choose well, I
think it'll be divisive, but I think some members will
be excited if they choose twenty four for johnay Baron
to tie back to our last point and you know,
harken back to the champ Bailey years.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
I think there's a lot of nostalgia for that.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Yeah, I think if you retire, it's not a permanent retirement.
I think you retire for like twenty years and then
you know it's time to open it.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Back up kind of things.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
And then you highlighted Warren Moon giving his permission for
km Ord to wear number one. Part of that was
in order to pass on his blessing, he asked the
Titans to not bring back to Houston oilers throwbacks anymore.
Have any takes on the Titans not wearing the Houston
Oilers throwbacks?
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Yeah, it's kind of weird when you leave cities and
then you try to carry the history with you, which
the Titans have tried to do, and the city of
Houston's outright rejected that, but the Titans still.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Try to do it. Valry games too.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Yeah, Yeah, it's it's it's silly like you moved, you
got to leave, but the legacy behind you moved to
a new city. It's like the Baltimore Ravens, you know,
like they you know, they redid the everything. They don't
try that the Browns are back in Cleveland and all
that kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
I just, yeah, I don't like that you changed.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
You change cities, and if that city's got a franchise,
you don't need to.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Sit there and be and be doing that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
So anyway, when we come back, Young Secrets, here's got
an article you just put up on ko Colorado. Hadn't
break it down forsh listen Broncos Country to Night right
here on KOA and obviously Rocky's taken over seven thirty
here on KOA. Taken on San Francisco Giants. The streaking
(17:55):
Colorado Rockies. We've gotten thirty three percent of their total
wins in their last two games on the season. Looking
to extend that two game winning streak, maybe to a
to a third game.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
We'll see, Zach, you got a.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
New article up there on Koacolorado dot com and breaking
down this this draft and rookie class for us.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Yeah, just looking at who I think is going to
have the biggest impact on this team in year one,
and I think there's a couple of clear standouts in r. J. Harvey,
Jah Day Baron and Jeremy cross Shop. Cross Shaw being
maybe the least exciting of those options, but I think
he's got to be the heavy favorite for that starting
punter job and that will give him a pretty large impact.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
You have to speak for yourself on that, because that
mustache is probably threatening Grant Smith for best mustache in
the in the Denver metro area.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
That's fair in that regard. It's in Croy exciting because
he shaved it off.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
And so when he called and we got the we
were interviewing him at through Selected, I was like, you
got to bring that back, brother, Yeah, and he was
because he was like, well, it's humid down here. When
he puts the wax in, it messes up to it
and I'm like, bro, it's not humid here in Colorado.
It's going to be insane this year.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
Yeah, it's going to be especially luscious yea in twenty
twenty five.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
And Denver that's the second time in two years where
they've had a late draft pick that's had a glorious
hair mustache Combo Nick or Julio last year obviously, and
he shaved it off.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
He like shaved it, like shaved his head, shaved it
all off for he got him like, bro, what are
you doing?
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Like this is this is you bring this to Denver
and you're you're cemented.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
Yeah, at least get some local car dealership commercials or
something like we've seen from Dalton Reisner and Quinn Minors
that you can market yourself as a guard.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Yeah, There's there's plenty that you can do as far
as we'll see if cross I can mark himself as
a poonner, yeah, Sadie barn I mean, obviously figures to
have a big impact. He's slated to be in there
starting in that slot corner roll.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
He figures to have a big impact.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
It'll be interesting to see as teams will probably try
to test him early given the fact that you've got
Patser Tanner, Brodley Boss on the outside.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Rjie Harvey.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
It's it's interesting to me because I don't know exactly
what the extent of the usage there will be. You know,
he figures to fit into that Alvin Kamara role, but
how much of a bell cow will he actually be
for the Broncos as Sean Payton does like having sort
of a three headed jabberwokie you get the running back position.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Yeah, and also is kind of slow played rookies in
the past.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
I know we were talking about Alvin.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Kamara and how he won Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
He had a great rookie season.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
I'm pretty sure he had fewer touches than Yeah, he
had fewer touches than mark.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Ingram that year by a good bit.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Mark Ingram still ranked top ten in the NFL in
total touches. Was a very high usage back. I also
wonder r J. Harvey we're also talking about. He's a
you know, larger back than you know, your average five
eight ie. He's well built, but still, you know, it
is only two hundred pounds. How much of a beating
can that take relative to you know, maybe Odrick Estimate
(20:42):
in that same room, or Nick Chubb if they end
up signing him, are those two guys maybe more of
your innings eaters. Ultimately, I just think R. J. Harvey's
going to be too good to keep off the field.
I think he gives you that contact balance kind of
like we were talking about, he's a stronger back and
he's just so dang explosive. I think the receiving stuff,
it's a bit of projection there because he wasn't used
(21:02):
a ton in that role at UCF, but when he was,
it looked awesome, like really great wheel routes. You can
be a downfield option, you know, it knows how to
make plays after the catch, of course, And I just
think ultimately, relative to what we saw out of estimate
last year, who also has maybe a bit of a
fumble problem he's us to overcome. I just think it's
(21:23):
going to be too hard to keep Harvey off the field,
and maybe he gets overdrafted in some of these fantasy situations,
but he'd be a guy I'd be watching very very
closely for sure.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Yeah, if they just got to find somebody who can
reliably get them yardage, and he seems to, you know,
certainly be that guy back at the college game. And
whether or not that translates to the pros will remains
to be seen. But we have a good feeling about it.
And then you got, you know, you got pat Ryant there,
who Sean Payton had plenty of superlatives about, comparing him
favorably to Michael Thomas in terms of traits. Sean has
(21:55):
always had a pensiant for trying to find those type
of guys that other people have passed on and make
stars out of them. We all saw what he did
with Marcus Colston, you know, in the seventh round, you know,
and all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
As far as Briant goes, I think even if he.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Doesn't have the highest statistical impact, he may have a
different type of impact on that room, bringing an edge
to a room that probably needs it.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Absolutely, and that edge, I mean he talked about it
with the interview with you guys.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Are in the interview with you guys, but he was.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Kind of that standard bearer, that standard setter at Illinois
when he was there in that offense. He came back
this spring to try and make sure is that standard
still being kept?
Speaker 2 (22:41):
So I think absolutely he could have just a.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Big impact on the locker room, adding some of that
great physicality, the blocking ability. I think as a rookie,
a fair expectation for him is and I'm sure Broncoss
might view this as a knock, but like little Jordan Humphrey, plus,
I think he's going to fill a very similar role.
The wide receiver snapcount last year is a little funky
because Mims role evolved so much throughout the season and
(23:05):
you had Josh Reynolds in and out and little Jordan
Humphrey Davon Valet injured at the start emerging down the stretch,
but Lordjren and Humphrey played over five hundred snaps for
this team last year. I think there's a good chance
and that's because Sean Payton loves playing those larger receivers,
especially in the slot where they can help in the
blocking game. We know how much Bryant can do that
right off the bat. I think he probably sees you know,
(23:28):
three hundred to five hundred snaps this year, even with
that wide receiver room being so much better, just because
it's a role that Sean Payton covens.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Yeah, it's going to be interesting to.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
See the role out for Sutton, Devon Valley and Bryant
and how they you know, kind of mix and match
that to cover for the the little Jordan snaps and
all that kind of stuff. They had big plans like day,
they had big plans for Valley. So we'll see, you know,
we'll see what happens there. Mims just pretty much cemented
himself as the Z. You know, there'll be a platoon
opportunity in training camp with Troy Franklin, but he's got
the leg up, you know, as far as that goes.
(23:58):
So of the other picks that I thought were maybe
a little perplexing, the Jones and Q Robinson picks.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
You know, undersized defensive guys who.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
You know, in Jones's case, is kind of a tweener
in Q's case, is a special team's ace who really
just doesn't have a lot of snaps, you know, in
basic defensive structure. How do you feel like those guys
can impact this team this year? I think the impacts
are going to be fairly minimal for both of them.
I think you will have a greater presence this year,
just because he should be a special team.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Standout from the jump.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
I keep coming back to the Nick Saban quote just
because I think it is so noteworthy. You know, he
was at Alabama for you know, not quite two decades,
but at fifteen sixteen years or so and shouted out
qu Robinson is maybe one of the best special teamers
he ever saw while he was there. I think he's
going to be able to come in, and we know
how Alabama prepares their guys for the pro level, as
(24:48):
Saban in particular, I think he's going to be able
to come in and right away be one of the
broncos better special teamers. So that'll give him somewhat of
an impact. And then I think also he's very raw
as a defense player. We just haven't seen him do
a whole lot there. He's only started five games in
his college career. This year was supposed to be his chance.
He got injured early on. I think it looks really
(25:10):
promising what he has. I think he explodes off the line. Well,
I think he's you know, a great insurance plan for
Nick Benito. I don't think you can just like let
Nick Benito walk and let Ke Robinson plug in. There
put a similar stylistic player and a guy who you
can maybe plug in for some of Benito's snaps to
keep Benito fresh, keep that pass rush fresh and kind
of as we've seen in Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
Just keep those waves of the guys coming at the quarterback.
Speaker 1 (25:34):

podcast as well, which you got a clips montage episode
coming up here.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Yeah, new episode. David Smith Orson did not make the
cuts as he does not want to do, but yeah,
great thoughts on big Al his conversation. The clip I
pulled from that episode was talking about having bad moments
versus bad days, and I think that's something that can
really shift your mindset if you just look at things
(26:38):
when they go wrong as a bad moment in your
day instead.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Of making your whole day bad.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
And it's been a big game changer for me since
that conversation with big Al. And that's what I love

Speaker 2 (27:14):
Did you watch the the As and Nuggets last night?
Speaker 3 (27:17):
I was in Ballerina when that's right, you were. It
was unreal, dude, play tough. Hockey is just different, look
like it on the TV.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
I was down at our good buddy, Bob Murphy's bar
down here, Papa's Public House, Papas Public House, watching, uh,
watching both games there simultaneously, and uh, there was the
the elation, you know, the and the thrill of victory
and the agony of defeat all.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
At one, all in one. Yeah, they synced up there
towards the end.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
I kind of did as as we were watching that,
and and it did the Avs. There was a moment
there in the second period where you're sort of like, oh, but.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Beyond that they really kind of had control.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
It was just when they let when they let uh,
Dallas eaven it up and then get ahead by one
and then and then they kind of took control again
after that.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
Yeah, And you could really feel that in in Ballerina,
the kind of the life go out of the building
because the As were dominating the whole game.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
And that period they did well.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Second even the second period they I mean, I wouldn't
say the Stars really dominated the period, they just dominated
the goals. The Avs had two shots that were off
the crossbar that should have gone and looked like they
were gonna go.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Yeah, they doubled them up on. Yeah. So it was
you know, it was.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
One of those things where you looked at that it
was kind of like if you just felt like it
was gonna be the ass night and then it really
it was over at the point where they owned gold themselves. Uh,
it was a black well. I think I had the
one go off his shoulder. Yep, you know, and they
after that it was you know, it was over.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Yeah, And once that first empty netter hit, man, I
don't think I've ever heard Ballerina louder. I was there
for the ass Stanley Cup run. I was there for
the NBA Championship with the Nuggets. But man, like you
could just feel like that that fan base was not
ready for the AF season to end, and once they
realized it was going to last night, they just let
loose and yeah, it was. It was a whole lot
(29:04):
of fun and I had the Nuggets game on my phone, uh.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
During the intermissions of the Avs game.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
But once I saw the third quarter and I was like,
all right, I'm gonna focus in on the AAVs game
now because it looks like the Clippers are going to
give the give a game seven to both Denver teams.
But credit to the Nuggets, man, they fought. They were
in there till the end and just just too sloppy.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Just too many mental mistakes. Yeah, too many mental mistakes
throughout the games. Bad passes, sloppy passes, lethargic passing. U
They had something like thirteen turnovers at one point in
one quarter and and very few points and it was
just it was just agonizing to watch because you're like,
you got you guys, if you're executing, you should beat
these guys. You should run them out the gym. But
(29:47):
they weren't. They were Credit to la for for decent
defense too. I don't want to take away from the Clippers, you.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Know, defense coaching change by Tylu putting Batoum on Joker
really seemed to throw the Nuggets off off kilter a
little bit.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Yeah, And it was on the like, you know, Dave
was talking about the defense when he was on there earlier.
But they left that corner shot that corner three. They
left that thing open all night. It was free money
for La whenever they wanted to go to the well
and they did. And yeah, the Batom thing really really
sort of paid off there too.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
So we'll see.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Interesting to note that Jeff Van Gundy over there on
that Clipper staff, you know, somebody that might be in
play for the Denver Nuggets in terms of head coach.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Really just something to keep your eye on a little bit.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
One of the names that has recently surfaced that maybe
on that short list as well.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Well, you're plugged into that situation more than most, But
I still think if they win this game seven, I
think you got to give Adam in the job man
to come into the situation. He did to win the
last three games of the regular season to clinch that
four seed, and then if he's able to get them
to bounce back and win this game seven in a
first round playoff series, I mean, I'd like to see
(30:57):
some changes to the roster, but I'd like what he's doing.
And his comments after the game were a savvy vet
coach comments. He knows he's gonna probably get fined for
I'm talking about Joker getting fouled too much, but you're
putting that in the ref's mind and going into Game seven,
I he doesn't look the part, but he may be
acting the part. He may he may be the guy
(31:19):
for the job.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
In my opinion, there have been some lapses that I
that have troubled me a little bit, and I would
need to see another series out of Adalman, like you
need to win this series, and I need to see
another series where you clean up some of these some
of these lapses and stuff. But beyond that, I would
say he's in contention. You know, the question really boils
down to how much of a culture change can he
bring in on a message that had gotten Staale a
(31:40):
lot of staff he was already on.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
Yeah, and that's a very good point.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
But I do love also the freedom he's given Joker
to kind of be the coach on the court, because
no one sees the game better than Nikolai jokicch and
for him to be able to trans transfer that message
to the rest of the team during a time out
without having to worry about the coaches interfering.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
I think that's a powerful tool too. I think it is.
We got Cody Rourke when we come back. Broncos Country
Night kwe
