Speaker 1 (00:00):
The NFL schedules coming out here soon. We know who
the opponents are going to be. We know who the
home in away is going to be. We know those
kinds of things. What we don't know yet is the
dates and really the places. As the Broncos could potentially
play overseas this year, there's a possibility the Colts game
(00:26):
could be in Germany. We know the we know the
home games already. It's the Bengals, Cowboys, Packers, Jags. We
get the Chiefs, the Charge of the Raiders obviously, and
the Giants and the Titans. We'll also get to see
them here in Denver this year, and then on the
road and and again that Colt's game could be in
(00:46):
Germany and not Indianapolis but Houston, Indy again the Chiefs,
Charge of Raiders, and then at the Jets, Eagles and Commanders,
which should be fun. I'm gonna try and make the
trip out for the Commander's game this year. Maybe we'll
get to the coach Bagano out there. It is his
working environment, Toads, I know he was crashing out if
the Knicks took the Celtics to overtime, the Celtics or
(01:08):
Celtics Celtics.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I say that just hard mess with him every time.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Yeah, the Knicks took the took the Celtics in overtime,
so after being doubt, it's like a tie game that
all a sudden the Nicks were down thirty and then
they were back, and then then they tied it up
and then they wanted an overtime.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yeah, you know what, that very interesting game. I'm gonna
have to call and check on coach doing the next break.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
We gotta do a heat check on coach, pulse check
to see where see where he's at after that one,
because uh.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
I wouldn't wasn't I mean the I think it was
six and a.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Half if I remember correctly, was the lion on that one.
But the Knicks were certainly not favored to win and
did come out and get Game one in that series.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
That's big to do on your opponent's court, But that's what.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
You want to do, man, to win and take back
home court advantage, to be able to show in Game
one that you can win on your opponent's floor, and
especially winning and the place. Like when you think about basketball,
at least when I think about it, when you think
about Boston but more more.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Importantly New York City.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
The Guard is like like hollow ground for basketball. For
being able to do that, that's it's so important.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
But I want to go back to something.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
When you were mentioning about the schedule, we know that
officially comes out on May fourteen. It's gonna be a
big deal in the league does a great job of it.
The one thing I was thinking about, Ben was that
when we look at the games that are going to
are set to take place next year, there were a
couple of games that as I was talking to my
son today that I'm like, I'm really intrigued to see
(02:44):
some of the games. So I'll give you a couple
and no particular.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
On Guess what's number one on your list? Go ahead,
guess Bengals at Broncos.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
I feel like that's number one on your list. I
was literally gonna ask you, are you are you going
to go.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
To that game instead of like working things? Are you
to take a vacation aim go to that game?
Speaker 5 (03:07):
Yes, Tepper, our boss, this is your warning already I
will be at that game.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
But like we need to put you in the suite
for that game.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
Family is coming in town.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
We gotta put you. We gotta put you use any.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Connections on your end, Ben, that would be great.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
I have been known. I mean Grant, I think that's
that's that's a home game. Yeah, that's family's coming in town.
Normally he works the game speck here at the booth
take off, and then we'll.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Be training up young Zach seekers all season.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Game.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
If it's the opening game, I'm gonna lose my mind.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
You got three preseason games to get into the area.
You know that.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Once again, that is one of the games on my
list because we remember, like last year how that ended for.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
The Denver Broncos.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
But an epic game, Yeah, epic for sure.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
But I think the outcome is going to be a
little different Grant now that the Broncos are looking to
beef up their defense.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
So that's definitely short in every game.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
But Buffalo versus Kansas City, right, that matchup between those
two teams, it's always one of those tops games. But
the league does a great job of kind of scheduling rematches,
so we're gonna see another rematch between the Buffalo Bills
in Kansas City, but also between the Philadelphia Eagles and
(04:24):
Kansas City as well. That's one that's gonna be really
important as well. But here's one that's really interesting, and
we haven't heard any news about it does far and
been let me know if you have. Like it seemed
like still a nation has been put on hold or
being held hostage once again by a guy by the
name of a a Ron Rogers.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Right, And he hasn't signed this deal yet, but.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
I'm sure the league is going to really promote the
heck out of this if he signs with Pittsburgh when
they face off against his old team, the Green Bay Packers.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah, from what I understand, he's still kind of like
sitting out.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
There on that.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
They kind of have the framework of a deal in place.
It's not about the money or any of that kind
of stuff. It really is a question of whether Aaron
Rodgers wants to go play for the Steelers this year.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
That's really what it is.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
How difficult is it to make a darn decision.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
I think he's waiting a little bit.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
What he going back to doing one of the retreats again. No,
I think he's waiting.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
This is the bleep, the bleep whole move.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
He's waiting to see if an injury happens to happen
in Minnesota. If somehow JJ McCarthy gets hurt between now
and then, Tanda, I'm here, wait.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
Wait, that is so bizarre.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
And to know that the Steelers, in my opinion, waited
so long to take a quarterback because they were thinking, okay, well,
everything was a done deal, and that's kind of what
was being promoted.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Everything's a done deal.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Aaron Rodgers is going to be the next quarterback of
the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
So if you're the Steelers at that point, what do
you do? You try to get Ryan Tannehill out of
retirement because he's been in that offense before.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Maybe maybe I'm not sure if Tannel is officially retired.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
But what if you.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Are a Steelers fan and known as though your organization
is waiting around like once upon a time the Green.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
Bay package did.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
And I mean, can we say that the Broncos themselves,
you know, were in that running when they brought in
and Daniel Hackett maybe with the idea of getting Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
I mean, look, I think at the end of the day,
the Steelers need to put a deadline on Rogers otherwise
he's going to milk this thing all the way out.
Because he wants the Vikings thing and they don't want him,
and you know the in fact, to the point where
as insurance on McCarthy, they went out and got Sam
Howells as a backup. And so the Vikings like, Aaron
(06:47):
Rodgers wants to go to the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
I guess that's what he wants.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
The Vikings don't really have interest in Aaron Rodgers, and
they're all in on JJ McCarthy. But McCarthy has been injured,
and so I think, like a leaphole, Aaron is sitting
there waiting to see if macarthy gets dinged up or
suddenly isn't ready. They get him into camp and maybe
he doesn't look ready, and all of a sudden, Rogers like.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Hello, how you doing?
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Listen?
Speaker 3 (07:12):
I mean, don't we always know when we're not wanted,
especially when he comes through relationships.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
She's she's just not into.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
You, but you still, Oh, he's keeping them on, He's
keeping them on the back bar.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
This is like this dude's got like tender dates lined
up or whatever.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
You know. He said, yeah, yeah, yeah, baby, we're gonna
go out next week.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
All right, But at first, I gotta I gotta meet
each other. I gotta do this, I gotta do this
other stuff first.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
You know that. That's what he said.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Yeah, this is like he's got the tender pipeline going
or whatever.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
And uh, yeah, he's being a jerk.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
He's he's sitting there like, well, I've got this one
in the bag, but this one over here.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
A meme with the dude that's got the girl he's
walking down the street with, but he's looking back at
the other one walking the other way, you know, to
be that dude.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Right.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
But also, isn't this like uh.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Rogers kind of cementing his dominance before he walks into
an organization.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
I mean, that's already pretty much if you waited on him,
that's already pretty much on display.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Yeah, because now he knows though you're waiting on him
this long.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Once he comes into the building, he would, like he
did with the Jets, like he did with the Packers,
try to run the organization from his standpoint as far
as players he wants and the players he doesn't want.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Well, and I don't think he's gonna get that kind
of control anywhere at this point. I mean, the Steelers
already have pickings and DK metcalf and and friar Mouth
and all these other.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
You know pieces.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
I think they're pretty set as far as that goes,
and it's either Rogers comes in, it works within the conference.
Excuse me, confides of that along with an offensive coordinator.
He doesn't isn't really familiar with that, Arthur Smith or not,
you know, And that's a lie. He's already getting his way.
They're waiting on him. Well, yeah, I mean they're trying
to sell people on the idea that what is it
Mason Rudolph or whatever?
Speaker 4 (08:47):
You know, Yeah, yeah, Mayson Rudolph and Will.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Howard right, well Howard who they just drafted.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
But they've got uh uh, what's McCall Skyler Thompson on
that roster as well?
Speaker 4 (08:58):
Not that that's I.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Mean, like you just saying Joe Burrow, Well no, but
I'm just saying that they've got they've got bodies at least.
But what I'm saying is just like, if this doesn't work,
if you're the Steelers, do you go reach out to
Ryan Tannegi. Ryan Tannehill obviously work with Arthur Smith in Tennessee.
He hasn't played, you know, he didn't play last year
and isn't signed anywhere this year. See if he has
(09:19):
anything left in the tank. I mean, he can't be
worse than you know, late career Alex.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Smith, probably not in that may be a safe bet
for the Steelers organization, knowing as though you can't keep
this up, you can't draw this out. What you're proposing
is McCarthy possibly getting injured and we're looking at week
four five.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
I don't know, I think this is a training camp
kind of thing or you know, get get through, get
into July, and well, you know, we see if the
Steelers obviously you see the Vikings move off their position
on McCarthy at all.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
At that point.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
It's like it's been at your he's rooting for the injury.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
To McCarthy to try to get the Vikings job at
the end of the day, Like is it.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
I mean, to me, that's a jerk move.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
But well, okay, you say it's a jerk move, but
look who we're talking about.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
I mean, he's.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Because but I'm just saying, like, dude, like, well, you're
you're sitting here openly rooting for the Vikings quarterback situation
to sustain some injuries so.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
You could swoop in and be the savior that's once again,
that's what's going to make a lot of these games
very interesting. That Packer is Minnesota game. If it does unfold,
and unfortunately that JJ McCarthy can't heal or his injury,
there's a setback, and Kevin O'Connell decides he wants to
(10:44):
go in that direction with Aaron Rodgers, which when you
really think about it, Grant scheme, big.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
Picture, isn't he not following Brett Fahr in a certain way?
Speaker 1 (10:56):
I mean, I mean Minnesota would be complete in the arc,
you know, mean the Packers to the Jets to the Yeah,
that would complete the uh uh the arc there.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
But I I don't they.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
I get the vibe and and everybody I've talked to
up there says that Minnesota just doesn't want anything to
do with him. So that you know that that is
what that is, that they're all in on JJ McCarthy.
You look at the Steelers' offense. They drafted Caleb Johnson
out of Iowa. You know, at the running back they
drafted Will Howard. The rest of the picks they spent
on defense on the offensive side of but they've got weapons.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
You know, they they've drafted over the last couple of years.
They had Roman Wilson.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
They got Robert Woods in free agency, traded for DK Metcalf.
You got Pickens, Calvin, Austin, Benskronic, Scottie Miller member, Brandon
Johnson used to be here with the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
He's on that roster.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
They they've got. It's not like they don't have weapons.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
The tight end room.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
They got Pat friar Us and Darnell Washington, both good
tight ends. They added Donald Parham, the guy we had
last year and didn't use, you know, on the defensive side.
They added Derek carm.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
I thought, what you did?
Speaker 2 (11:52):
You just like you was just seeing if you were
paying attention out there.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
But I've been the defensive side.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
They had Derek Harmon in the in the drafts and
Jack Sawyer linebacker.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
But they had a Darius Slave free agency. Uh, they
added one thorn Hill Brandan Eckle.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
I mean they've they've added some pieces of things. Roster
looks ready to compete.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Then you look at the quarterback position You're like, oh
my god, my eyes are bleeding.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
It's Skyler Thompson.
Speaker 6 (12:15):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Will was the sixth round rookie.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Will Howard and Mason Rudolph who couldn't beat out Will
Levis down there in Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Right now, the still has got to do something is
going to be a total disaster. There's another game that
I wonder if you are really excited about. I know
I am, because you got Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson,
the resurgent Chicago Bears versus Jade and Daniels, right and
(12:45):
coach Bugano and the fighting Commanders.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
So what do you what do you think about that game?
Because for me is like.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
I look at both teams and what they did in
the offseason to kind of, I guess support their offensive quarterbacks.
And I think about Jade Daniels throwing every quarterback in
his rookie year, and Adam Peters just kind of gave
him Laramie Tonsu and Deebo Samuel.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yeah, he also added Josh Johnson the quarterback room, so
there's some mentorship in there. But yeah, but Debo and
and and Laramie tunseell on top of what they already had.
I mean, you know, the Commanders, I mean might might
be at NFC East is super interesting this year because
not just uh you know, the Eagles of the retarding
Super Bowl champions. But you got the Commanders who who
you know, played very well. You've got a Dallas team
(13:33):
I think is going to be very improved this year
with Brian shot Nimer as the head coach, uh and
they're gonna run the ball a lot.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
And then you've got a.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Giants team that just drafted all the all the stuff
that they drafted that you know, who knows what that's
going to become. I think the most interesting portion for
me of the Commanders is what.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
They did on defense. The additions that did.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
You had a Jacob Martin and Eddie Goldman and Javon Kinlaw,
Detrich Wise, Will Harris, and Jonathan Jones. They added a
lot of a lot of bodies on the defensive side
of the ball, you know, to beef that thing up
because the defense was a.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
Bit of a liability last year.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
So it'll be interesting to see, you know, because they're
not gonna sneak up on anybody this year the way
they did last year. Interesting to see what they're able
to pull off this year. And then you said you
mentioned the Bears, that is an interesting team. You know,
you got Caleb Williams now with the coach that's catered
to the offense. They had a Colston Loveland at the
tight end position. I'm not the biggest Luther Burden fan,
but they added him for the slot. They the entire
(14:26):
interior of that line is revamped. They had a Joe
Toney from Kansas City, Drew Dolman from Atlanta, Jonan Jackson
from the Rams. You know, to me, they are an
interesting team because the defense was pretty built.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
If his offense clicks, they could have something.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Well.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
The reason it stands out to me because for me,
you got two guys who I don't want to use
the word genius because that's tossed around a lot in
this game, just like the word joker. Isn't that to
become too often here in Denver. But you have two
brilliant offensive mines and Kingsbury and Ben Jonson, and we're
talking about the additions on both offensive defense side of
(15:03):
the ball. And you got two quarterbacks in the same draft.
I think Taylor went one and they went two.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
So and they're up.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Against two defensive coordinator I said, good, you got Dan
Quinn on the one side, you got Dennis Allen on
the other, both very respected defensive coordinators.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
And it makes for a great game.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
And this is the one thing I love about the
NFL that the NBA seem to have not have soured
on this because every hero needs a villain, and the
NFL they're doing a great job of creating those hero
villain type atmosphere.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
We used to see that in the NBA. We don't
really get that anymore.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Like here in Denver, if you wanted to say, well,
who's the hero, who's the villain? Obviously you say, well,
the different Nuggets are the hero and the Minnesota Timberwolves
are the villain.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
Right in that case.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
But I love how the league does a great job
which builds anticipation of the schedule release and putting these
teams to against one another that you know, a lot
of fans, whether you root for the team or not,
you're like, man, that's the game I definitely.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Have to watch.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Yeah, creates those anticipatory matchups that that we all want.
So May fourteenth to schedule release date, Broncos Country, I
got an.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
NFL six pack.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
We come back. Let's get to the NFL six pack.
Speaker 6 (16:16):
It's time for the NFL sixth pat I'm gonna take
a lot of beer insight and insight information. You can't
find anywhere else. No. Six the top six NFL headlines.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
On the Ravens have been a bit of a delicate
spot from the moment allegations for surfaced in January against
kicker Justin Tucker. On Monday, they made an in delicate
exit from the relationship.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
On the one hand, there haven't.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Been any findings yet officially that he has done anything
wrong with the civil criminal Court or the Court of
Commissioner Goodell, but Tucker's unequickly denied the numerous accusations of
his conduct during his massage therapy sessions, despite the fact
that he absolutely did it. On the other hand, he
plays a position that's pretty changeable as they come, especially
since Tucker has regressed from his previous perennial Pro Bowl
(17:04):
level performances, and faced with the choice between a run
of the mill kicker who is creating a significant distraction
and is due to make four point two million this year,
and one who isn't, there was a no brainer. With
the run of the milk kickers available anywhere, the Ravens
were always going to be moving on from Justin Tucker.
They will release him with a post June one designation
and significant twenty twenty five cap savings to wait to have.
(17:27):
They used the six round pick on Arizona kicker Tyler
Loop and then they're bringing in Wyoming kicker as well
for rookie mini camps, so two guys getting the try
out there. General manager Eric to Coosta called it a
football decision, which you know, I mean, I guess that's
what you say at that, but I think we all
know that it necessarily wasn't The decision was influenced or
(17:49):
likely was in hold her part by non football reasons.
The Ravens would have invited a potential CBA issue by
saying so all strategic calculated. What Ever, even after the
playoff run to Costas had he expected Tucker to be
the kicker in twenty twenty five, then came the allegations
and immediately applying a zero tolerance policy that they've claimed
(18:11):
for years, they did not do any of that. John
Harbaugh emphasized the team would make football decisions only about Tucker,
and I guess the next.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Day they made one. What do we think of the
Ravens moving on from Justin Tucker.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
It's kind of unfortunate because Tucker was one of I
guess the better and more efficient kickers that we've seen
in NFL history, and for him to go out this
way is wild.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
But to get the report that you know, it's what
is it?
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Non? It's has everything to do with football, correct, that's
the way that they, oh.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
They're claiming gets all football related. The reality is that
we all know that it's not.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Well, yeah, we anyone with the brain knows that it's
not off football related.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
It's just sad. It's just a tragedy.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
I mean for the NFL to go through this again,
because they went through it with Deshaun Watson and Watson
got another deal with.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
The Cleveland Brown So I don't know.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
Is this the end of Tucker's freedom for one, but
also his ability to play.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
In the NFL.
Speaker 5 (19:13):
It'll be at Cleveland Brown by next week, him and
the former quarterback passing each other in the locker room.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
Both of like fan the Fols had to do the
massage room.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
Oh oh two.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Have the nflmobile's ever done?
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Until it's done?
Speaker 1 (19:30):
And now that quarterback Matt Stafford's new deal with the
Rams officially done, the two year deal will once again
tee up the question next off season on whether the
Rams and Stafford are done.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
He ends up with forty four million dollars this year.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
But no guarantees be on twenty twenty five for injury
or otherwise. The Rams will have into the fifth day
of the league you're in March, when his twenty twenty
sixth salary of forty million becomes fully guaranteed to cut him.
The Rams will also have the ability to trade Stafford,
since they'll hold his contractual rights through twenty twenty six.
We don't won't know whether the Rams have been formally
agreed to grant Stafford's outright release. If he decides he
(20:03):
wants to finish his career elsewhere, the new team can
sign him without giving the Rams a draft pick or two.
That's more money than that we're willing to pay Stafford
next year. Could have gotten a firm ninety million or
more on a two year deal with the Raiders or Giants.
That Stafford seemed content to go one year at a
time with the Rams confident that another TV if not
the Rams will pay him fairly next year.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
It's a good deal for the Rams.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Forty two million per year in his new contract ranks
fifteenth in the NFL, and Stafford is probably better than
the fifteenth best.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
Quarterback in the league.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
What do we think about the Rams one year at
a time deals with matt Stafford.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
I think this is this works out well for both
individuals because for the Rams, if things seem.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
Like they're going sideways.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
And ages proving to be a problem, they can always
go in a different direction. But also from the players standpoint,
if Matthew Stafford has another insane year statistically, knowing as
though you got DeVante Adams on your squad, now he
can write a shock, There's gonna be some team out
there that's willing to give him money that the Rams
won't because the league has been built on being quarterback thirsty.
(21:09):
So you go out there and you played well, you
push him to the brink of the playoff bert run
to make a deep playoff run.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
He just earned you some more money if you match
to Stafford.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
Yeah, how Stafford's been battling injuries last couple of years,
but the Rams have, you know, have found a way
to kind of keep him alive. I mean, he's got
a bad back, a bad elbow, but he still finds
ways to be productive.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
You make him sound like he's Frankenstein. I mean he's
finding way to get him, not going to fit, eat
him together.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Look whatever it takes, I guess, but the Rams have
no backup plan beyond Matt Stafford. The guys that they've
brought in over the years have not been quarterbacks that
challenge in any way, you know Stafford, and I mean obviously.
So you look at the roster right now. Jimmy g
is the backup and Stetson Bettet's the third stringer. Neither
(21:53):
one of those guys, are you known, gonna challenge Matt
Stafford anytime soon.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
So we'll see how that goes.
Speaker 6 (21:59):
Three.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
The Houston Texans are interested in building a team headquarters
away from their stadium. Their current practiceacility and team headquarters
is actually located in the Energy Stadium.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Jonathan Alexander the Houston Chronicles reporting the.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Team's interested moving away from the stadium and building a
facility that can include an entertainment district. The Cowboys begin
that trend in twenty sixteen when they debuting ninety one
acre development that includes the Star team headquarters the Ford
Center's twelve thousand seat indoors stadium. The Cowboys facilities located
thirty five miles from AT and T Stadium in Arlington,
and the Texans could do the same in Houston moving
(22:33):
out in Harris County, where the stadium is located. Cal
McNair said, when we wind up with the practice facility,
I'm not really quite sure yet. We have a lot
of great options. We'll sort through that sooner than later,
but noncommittal on the answer. Air said, building out or
around Energy Park is an option, but so as a
move elsewhere. The Texans will obviously continue to play home
games at Energy Stadium, which is owned by Harris County
(22:55):
with a lease agreement through twenty thirty two and their
negotiations for a new The Texans, Patriots, Bengals and Panthers
are the only NFL teams with their headquarters inside the stadium.
What do you think about having headquarters inside the stadium
versus not The Broncos obviously do not, you know, Being.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
A former Texans player, I thought it was great. Everyone's
in the building. From an administrative standpoint, everyone is on
site instead of being offsite. So if you wanted to
make sure that people are actually doing their job and
not guarding their desk, I mean you can, actually you
can actually do it and believe it or not. That
definitely happens and the NFL world, especially in coaching. I
(23:35):
think where the practice facility is in proximity to the stadium,
I think it's a great place.
Speaker 6 (23:42):
Right.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
It makes you know, coming to work that much easier
and once again, the commute to work can be a pain.
And you know what, so that would be strange for
me to go back as a former Texans player and
see that the stadium is in one area and you
move everything else to that here.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
I mean, you got the valley where you know team
headquarters is. It's nowhere near the stadium, which is downtown.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
But that's why they're building with a new facility. All
the people that are downtown in the stadium are now going.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
To be in the yeah, in the in the new
facilities there at Broncos Team A quarters. I I just
know that fast because there are four teams including Grant
Smiths own Bengals that are in the that are that are.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Headquarters that are still inside the state.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
I think that's a sweet deal, right, that's a sweet deal.
You walk right out from the practice field right to
the regular field and everyone is in the same place.
Speaker 5 (24:32):
You just got to watch crossing the streets down down
downtown Cincy.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Well, what happens?
Speaker 2 (24:36):
You haven't seen that?
Speaker 5 (24:37):
No video last year of the players almost getting hit
by a car?
Speaker 2 (24:41):
No?
Speaker 3 (24:42):
What?
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (24:43):
What I mean?
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Is there more to the story that.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
I completely and rich? What a great story, buddy.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Speaking of the Texans, Texans wide receiver Take Dell suffered
a gruesome knee injury in December, knocked him out not
only for the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs,
but could cost him his twenty twenty five season as well.
Texans coach Jamiko Ryan said today Dell is on the
road to recovery.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Said he and Dell are regular contact. Dell has a good.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Attitude about what he needs to get back on the field, saying, quote,
I talked to Tank all the time. Tank's doing great.
He's in good spirits. He's on the road recovery. He's
doing really well in his rehab process. He's in a
really good spot. So excited to see how that continues
to progress. As far a timeline for Dell's return, Ryan
said that it is too early for that. Said he
wants to tak to continue to get better attack each
day of rehab process the right way, like he's been doing.
(25:32):
There's nothing to rush, no set timeline. We need him
back for a certain day. We just need him back
and for Tank to be Tank. Texans added veteran wide
receiver Christian Kirkis offseason and then spent second and third
round draft picks on wide receivers, so they certainly prepared
for the possibility that he won't play this year. What
do we think about Tank Dell not playing this year?
Speaker 3 (25:51):
That's going to be very difficult and emotional for him
because I remember watching that game if I'm now mistakenim
against Kansas City, and you can see it on his face.
It's almost like he eat knew automatically that once again
he was in the right spot.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
CJ. Stroub was really grooving.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
But that now, him getting injured the way that he did,
it probably feels as though the reason they lost that
game had a lot to do with him being injured.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
But it's gonna be a tough climb. And and here's
the thing.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
You could say all the great things about a player
who's injured, but when you're injured, you're isolated from everyone
else and you are in the land of the forgotten,
and they forget about you. Really quickly, and knowing as
though they have two guys on their roster both named
Xavier Xavier Johnson and Xavier Hutcheson. So if those guys
start playing well, they're gonna wave bye bye to you
(26:43):
really quickly.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
Also went out and drafted both wive receivers from Iowa SA,
Jaydon Higgins and Jaylen Noel, and added Christian kirk is
a free agent.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
They what does that mean? Once you get well, they
may seem that you injured. Yes, I'm just saying five.
Speaker 6 (27:00):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Brian Schottenheimer says, I am not going to change.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
I am going to be me.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Brian Schottenneimer, who's fifty one years old, waited for a
long time he get his first head coaching job. He
was an NFL assistant for twenty five years before the
Cowboys nam him their head coach, allowing him to follow
his father into a top NFL job.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
Schottneimer vals that his new role won change him.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
Same quote.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
I think I've always been someone that believes in connection
getting to know these guys. I've always been someone who's
been able to be demanding and a pretty good at
disciplining guys. Promised myself when I got that opportunity that
I wouldn't change because I think I've seen too many
people change. Via Patrick Walker in the team's website, Schottneimer
has seen coaches changed once they become a head coach.
Didn't go well, guys, I've seen change. I'm not going
to name them. They weren't very successful, and I plan
(27:44):
on being successful. Schottenheimer moved things around in the locker room,
moving all pro edgebrusher Michaeh Parsons close to quarterback Dak
Prescott among others, and has players sitting in different spots
in the meeting room. He called first round pick Tyler
Booker on draft night and other veteran players stopped in
the locker room during the rookie MINTI camp.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
The well the new covers to the team.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
He said that the Cowboys culture will now be built
on family first and first class and joyful. When we
think about Brian Schottenheimer, new head coach of the Dallas.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Cowboy, I love it then, and I love it for
this particular reason because sometimes when you've been in the
league for a long time coaching under other coaches, you
tend to learn the style and the way that those
coaches coach, but tell theom do you get a chance
to be yourself? And there are some coaches who say, yeah,
I'm being myself, but you're not being your authentic self
(28:32):
because you're doing something another coach that you were able
to learn under started to do. And the scene that
Schadenheimer saying as though, well, I'm just gonna be me
that a lot of people are not giving him an opportunity.
This makes me more of a Schottenheimer fan instead of
a Cowboys fan, because typically coaches don't don't do this,
(28:53):
and the fact that he's putting veteran players by veteran players,
but also mixing up the room because it's got to
be a family atmosphere. If you don't think like a family,
you don't win as a friend, right.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
I think that he's gonna do well with Dallas.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
I really do.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
I know everybody was panning that higher, but I think
Brian Schottenheimer has been waiting a long time for this,
and I think Dallas is going to surprise some people
this year. I love the fact that he would out
and got an offensive.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Line coach to be the OC.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
They go to run the ball and they are going
to be effected doing it. It's gonna be interesting to want.
It has a tough division to win in, but that's
gonna be interesting to watch. Sick well, Will Johnson was
asked about falling to the second round in the NFL Draft,
and he said, they're gonna have to pay for this.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Shut your mouth. Well, Johnson's knee is okay.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Cardinal's got to steal with the forty seventh overall pick.
No one expected the Michigan Corners still be in the
green room after the first round ended Johnson before they
had a medical red flag on his knee, which is
the reason that fell, and it left.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Him frustrated initially, and now he's apparently even more motivated.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
Johnson released behind the scenes of his reaction after the
Cardinals selected in the second round, saying, quote, Finna go
kill Bruh. They're gonna have to pay for this, I
promise you, Arizona, Finna get a dog, Johnson said me
a video clip by a ou Brack of PHNX Cardinals.
Johnson said he is not heading the issues in two
years and doesn't understand the concerns. In twenty twenty four,
(30:12):
he missed one game with a shoulder injury. The final
six with turf toe. Aside from my incredibly white reading
of what it was that he said there, what.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
Do we think about Will Johnson's Well, listen then, I
don't know how that's going to play out with his
injury or whatever.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
But here's what I do know.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
When he's speaking the way that he's speaking, gonna go
kill bru. That's similar to what they would typically say
in Ato, where I went to college. Anytime you heard
someone say on everything I.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Love, it's about to go down, It's.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
Sounds much cooler when you said it that way, way
cooler when you said it.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
Well, I'm hoping that Will Johnson gonna go kill BRU
because I want to see him do well. He did
well at Mission again, and I love seeing guys live
by their dreaming the NFL, especially when you talk about
overcoming injury the injury like he did.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
So I'm a roof for him and see what happens. Yeah,
I mean, I'm pulling for him too.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
When he was one of those guys that we saw
had you know, he did have medical flags coming in.
I don't know what he's doing saying about the knee.
I mean, it was pretty well known by if you
know if I know, then everybody knows. It was pretty
well known, so you know, I'm not so sure what
he's doing. Try to pretend that there's nothing wrong there.
But at the same time, like, you know, hey, go
out there with that attitude. Yeah, I'm gonna show them all.
(31:32):
And he gets to go to a good defense there
in Arizona. Of course, my boy John Gannon's the head.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Coach down there. Nick Rollas runs the defense.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
They're gonna be I think Arizona's another team that people
are sleeping on this year that I think is gonna
be a lot better than people think. I'll say this,
I had a conversation with some of the some of
the guys down there.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
They think they can take the division this year.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
They firmly believe, They firmly believe that their division is up.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
For grabs this year, and they believe they're going to
get it.
Speaker 5 (31:53):
Didn't you say they were going to be better than
people thought last year?
Speaker 2 (31:55):
I did, and they were. They make the playoffs. No, okay,
they but.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
Nobody better than they were.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
Yeah, nobody expect them to be good like they were
competitive in every game.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
That's fair.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Terrible like they were terrible when he took over like
they were awful, which when Gannon took over, now they're
at least respectable.
Speaker 5 (32:15):
I just hope coach Gannon doesn't try to read that
statement from Will Johnson.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
The same way that I did. I tried to do
my best.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
I tried to do my best like Chappelle doing the
white guy newscaster thing like That's what I was trying
to do. When I was reading that, I was like,
all right, I'm gonna imitate Chappelle doing the white guy
newscaster and see how this goes.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
I got eye rolls for both of you, so totally
worth it.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
All I know is the Arizona car and is going
to get a doll, right, and he finna go kills.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
The body there?
Speaker 1 (32:41):
You go, save that, Save that clip Frocos Country Night
back after this, I'm here.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
My disappointment is in busim and all Bright.
Speaker 6 (32:51):
How you do it
