Five six, six to nine zero is the text line.

It for Granted library as well over one hundred and
eighty plus episodes and enjoy that too. I wanted to
(00:25):
get into a couple of different things. I do want
to talk about that because you mentioned it with Rome
with the top Thibodeau thing. The Knicks fire Tom Thibodeaux,
and there's some rumblings out there about some what's the
best way to put this some issues within that coaching staff.
Leon Rose goes ahead and gets rid of Tom Thibodeau,
(00:50):
but Rick Bronson. There was a report out there from
Amico Hoops and it says multiple Knicks players have been
unhappy with the presence of assistant coach Rick Brunson. Quote
per Hoops Wire sources, multiple Knicks player's been not happy
with the president of assistant coach. The presidents of assistant
coach Rick Brunson, who is the father of Jalen Brunson.
What that issue is exactly has not been determined. Those
(01:12):
sources suggest Rick has had two big a say in things.
That's that part interests me. But I'm like, what did
Thibodeau stand up and say I'm not going to fire
that guy and so they fired him.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Well, I've been in situations where that has happened. Then,
when I was in the CFO, our head coach hired
a guy by the name of Joe pow Powe who
was his offensive coordinator when he was coaching with the
BC Lions, and our offense was struggling in Winnipeg at
the time, and our then head coach was kind of
(01:46):
given an ultimatum either you fire him pow Pow, or
you're out too.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
And since pow Pow game his first job, he was
just like, I can't do it.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
So we lost both our head coach coach in office
of coordinator. I don't know if that's the scenario that's
taking place with the New York Knicks, but we've seen
something similar here in Denver when you had Malone and
Calvin Booth kind of jockeying for position within the team.
(02:18):
One guy in Calvin Booth wanted younger players. Coach Malone
wanted more seasoned, veteran players that were more reliable and dependable.
And knowing as though you have Timms who was coaching
for was coaching.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
For the New York Knits, and you have you know.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Bronson's father being a part of the team in some capacity,
obviously will ruffle some feathers with a couple of guys.
May feel as though Jaylen Brunson gets a little more.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Say so, But let's be totally honest. I mean the
Knicks we're.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Able to get to where they were able to get
to based on Brunson and Big Cat, right.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yeah, I mean in Towns didn't really mesh well with
oju ad an Abbie.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yes, you know that that's been sort of a thing.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
But I mean Timodeau took over that team at twenty
one and forty five, back in what the twenty nineteen
twenty twenty season he took over, there were twenty one
and forty five, and now you're back to back fifty
win seasons and you're punting on that.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Well, the thing is, if there was an issue, let's
just say, and I don't know this, these are kind
of allegations speculations at this point. Well, let's just say
that some of the players not named Jalen Brunson had
a problem with Rick Brunson.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
His dad to me.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Okay, you go to the organization and if you're going
to release someone.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Of their duties, it's Rick Brunson.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, and who's good who has the issue with Rick Brunson,
Because I mean Jalen Brunson, Macal Bridges and Josh Hart.
Those guys are Villano'a commedies. Yeah, villan Oda team is
from back in the day. It's pretty much either Towns
or an an Abby.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
That's that's the one that's sitting there doing this.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Well, I wouldn't say that just because you were on
the same collegiate basketball team with the player. You guys
were kind of cool back then. I mean money pressure
planning in New York. That that can have an impact
on the friendship and fracture things. Because if you're still
talking about egos here, yeah right, oh.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Oh, your father's on the coaching staff. My dad is
sitting in the stands. Yeah that's the problem. Right.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
But if I'm brunting, and I would tell dudes, look,
if you guys had a problem with my pops. If
that's the case, why did you guys just take it
up with him or just bring it to me. So
once again, this is an example where communication is very vital,
very important, and to me, you don't want to communicate
through second and third parties. For me, I'm a firm
(04:44):
believer I have an issue with you. I'm gonna come
straight to your doors.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Stuff interesting, and that's it has led to some speculation
that Jay Wright could possibly be in the in the
pipeline for thee back together. I don't belie leave that
to be the case, but that has led to some
speculation on that. The interesting speculation to me, and we'll
get to this disrespect on the Broncos thing here just
a second, is the idea that the Knicks would post
(05:10):
John Calipari from the Arkansas Razorbacks. Cali Parti's got four
years left on a five year deal with Arkansas. But
over the years, no coach has been closer to Leon
Rose and his number two in the next office, William Wesley,
than Calipari. He was the head coach of the New Jersey
Nets for two and a half seasons when Rose got
(05:31):
the job to run the Nick Calipari spook glowingly about
Rose his feature in New York. He was right that
Rose would turn around. That's the interesting name. To me.
Calipari wasn't exactly highly successful in his time in the NBA.
He went seventy two and one twelve with the New
Jersey Nets for a thirty nine percent winning percentage, So
that seems to be interesting. Which, by the way, I mean,
you've only had three coaches make the jump from the
(05:52):
college ranks of the pro the head of winning record
Billy Donovan, Brad Stevens, and PJ Carlissmo.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Calipari. Dave seems weird to me to be in the mix.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Well, obviously you have to throw every coach in the
Mags who has had some kind of success on the
collegiate level, because, like you said, the Knicks have like
three Villanova players, so you're thinking that like you're trying
to create that same type of atmosphere that they had
at Villanova. So this is why you look at their
(06:22):
previous college coach. But to me, this is.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
A better job that suited for coach Michael Malone.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
I think there's two names. I think Malone and Jeffvan Gundy.
Are the two names that I would be considering.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Yeah, and I like Malone better because obviously some of
the players here didn't take too well for how coach
Malone may have coached or how he constantly threw them
under the bus.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
And rightfully so. To me, I don't think any of
it was.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Unjust, but it rightfully so because he had a certain
expectations he looked at for his players and his coaching staff.
His mentality would be perfect in New York because it's
one of those sab what you think media type markets.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yeah, it's a hard edge you know market. I think
Malone would fit in. Well, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
I just thought that that was fascinating and obviously Malone,
by the way, as a CIA client, and if you
know anything about the Knicks, they're very intertwined with with
that agency.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
You said that there's some disrespect aimed at the never Broncos.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Yeah, man, it's the disrespect continues. Like I was reading
something at you know, Pro Football Focus, and you know,
usually they do a good job of you know, ranking
teams and players or whatever.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
But it was something I found very interesting. And we
know that.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
The contract discussions are ongoing with Nick Benito Michael Parson,
who I believe didn't help Nick Benito by going and
reporting for a practice with the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
But it was a disrespect.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Aimed towards Nick Benito because I think Nick Benito had
about thirty en and a half sacks last season and
the Broncos had a historic sixty three for the year,
And could you believe it or not, Pro Football Focus
has Nick Berlnito ranked as a twenty third edge rusher.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Do you think that's a fair assessment?
Speaker 2 (08:15):
That feels a little low for somebody who had the
productivity that Nick Benito did?
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Why the twenty third? Why the twenty third? A justification
for that?
Speaker 3 (08:27):
As far as I know from what I was reading, No,
But you know, beauties and aud of beholder, not everyone
looks at the same thing, And I don't know.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
For me, I took it as who is like I
have to see the names ranked above him? But that
feels like that feels like a pretty disrespectful ranking.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
I'm up with you on that.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
It is, And I'm wondering if any of that has
to do with how other talent evaluators view the Denver
Broncos as a whole, because keep in mind, the Broncos
made the playoffs after almost an eight nine season drought,
and it was an early exit as Buffalo really put
(09:06):
the clamps.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Down on the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
I'm wondering if that had anything to do with, you know,
ranking Nick Benito so low and also saying, Okay, well
we need to see it again, you guys, I need
back to back gad the list.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Yeah, I'd love to hear that, because that's so weird
to me that you're ranking the guy who was third
in the league in sacks and one half a sack
behind Miles Garrett for second, and you're ranking what twenty third?
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Yeah, so the first couple won't surprise you. Number one,
Miles Garrett, number two, Micah Parsons, number three, t J
Watt number four, Nick Bosa number five, Aiden Hutchinson six,
Max Crosby seven, whodh Trey Hendrickson who probably won't be
with the Bengals much longer. Jared Versu at eight, Will
Anderson at nine, Khalil Mack at ten, Josh Allen from
(09:51):
the Jaguars at eleven, Daniel Hunter at twelve, Alex high
Smith at thirteen. That's Greg Roussou from the Buffalo Bills
at fourteen, Jonathan Grenard at fifteen, Brian Burns sixteen, Andrew
van Ginkel seventeen, Jalen Phillips eighteen, nineteen, Rashan Gary twenty,
(10:12):
Abdul Carter twenty one, Bradley Chubb twenty two, Carl Granderson
and at twenty three Nick Benito.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
What do we doing?
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Bradley Chubb, Rashan Gary had seven and a half sacks?
Speaker 1 (10:24):
What are we doing here?
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Not that Rashon Gary's not good, I mean he's a
good player, but I mean you're talking about guys who
Nick Benito had double the sack total.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
But this is why I said that there's still a
level of disrespect that's being spoken about when it retains
to the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Because the guy who had.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Thirteen and a half sacks for third in the NFL
last season, he's ranked twenty third. What in the hell
upside down we're living in?
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Cards had four and a half sacks and Aid Hutchinson,
I mean did he miss last season?
Speaker 3 (11:04):
I mean he missed in large Yeah, right, So so
it once again there there is some you know, some
negative nancies when they look when teams look at the
Denver Broncos, but also to when you think about Zach Allen,
has Zach Allen in your mind received the level of
respect that he has definitely earned it. And I know
(11:24):
when you started looking at the sack total, you're not
going to see him up there with Nick Benito and
Johnathan Cooper. But you just look at the love of
impact that he was having on games independently by himself.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
I mean, he was a one man wrecking crew.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Look, maybe maybe maybe Nick Bonnitto's getting devalued by.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
What else he has around him.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
When you got a Zach Allen in front of you
and you got maybe that's what they're not.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Struggling. I hope that's not the case.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Looking at the fact he said, well he's got other
complimentary pieces around him and that's why he's playing. Well, hell,
if that is the case, you still standing out amongst
that group.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
I see, I'm with you, And that's just I don't know,
that's weird to me. Bradley job had had a decent
season last year. He had eleven sacks and six force fumbles.
He led the league enforcing fumbles. But I mean, again,
that's just that's still fewer than Nick Benito had you know, like,
what are we what are we doing here?
Speaker 1 (12:25):
What are these who? Who put this list out? Again?
Speaker 4 (12:27):
Pro Football Focus? Yeah, well, and we talked about it
last night. They also had Sauce Gardner ranked ahead of
PS two cornerback rankings.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
It has a bunch of Sauce itself. They didn't seems
as offended. Wait, I'm sorry, Ben was not offended by
that those are the top two corners in the league.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
I think I think I think Stan is a better corner,
But I'm not gonna be too upset about that one.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Well, you're sertain below two they would have a problem.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Okay, First of all, I don't think so. I mean
Sauce gonered. Well, people give him that kind of that mark,
they talk about him in that way. I don't think
he garners that type of respect. And the reason I
say that is because when you look at Sauce, Sauce
(13:16):
was unceremoniously giving that type of title coming into the
league out of Cincinnati.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Right, but.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
He holds a lot, he grabs a lot, right, there
should be.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
More flags called on him.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
And also too, maybe I'm a little biased, not because
PS two is on a member of Denver Broncos. But
I'm all about complete player comparison. He's not a complete corner. Now,
you could say he give him a title being a
cover corner, fine, but then he's gonna create some issues
when it comes to tackling.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
PS two is a complete corner. Chad Bailey is a
complete corner.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
So if you're going to rank a guy that high,
then you better be able to be up with some facts. Now,
some people may not throw at him because of the
narrative himself that he's a cover corner, but you watch
some of those games, man, he gets beat too.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
He gets beat a lot.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Yeah, I mean, I just I don't know how many
interceptions did Sauce Gardner have last year? Doesn't feel like
it was that many. I don't think it was.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Am I wrong on that? Let's see, let's see what
he had last year. I don't think it's a lot
of in I T s that he had last year.
I'm like, I struggled. I mean, you know he had one.
There you go, he has three for his career. Wait,
so he got doubled up last year by Cody Barton.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
And the interceptions, well, once again he goes back to
that that cache.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Oh, well, yeah, he's a shutdown corner. Do people, I mean,
does do people really just not throwing him that much?
I have to look at how much he was targeted.
But it couldn't be any less than ps to That's
what I was saying. It had to be. It had to
be in a similar But once again.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
If you're gonna ring him the high, we're still talking
about game changing plays. Game changing plays like I still
remember when the Broncos, when the Jets game man played
the Broncos and on the play that the Broncos really
needed the roughsting call.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
It properly when you look.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
At Sauce Garden pulling call and sudden down from the
back rear jersey neckline. I mean, it was clear passing
affairs DPI, but it was never a call. But these
are the type of things that Sauce does to pull
and sleinshot himself to kind of get back in phase
where it still makes people think, Okay, well he.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
He's one of the top corners in the league.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Yeah, it's hee in the top five, the top six, yes,
but you know the top one two.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
I don't think so it's fascinating.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Okay, So patser Tan was targeted sixty two times. Last season,
Sauce Carter was targeted fifty eight times. It was about
the same. There was four targeted difference there, and granted,
I mean Stirt Tamp played one more game, but yeah,
it's about a four.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
And you know, you look at this in the yards.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Per completion allowed by Gardner sixteen point four. Uh yards
per completion allowed by certain had eight point six.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
I'm just saying the proof is in the pudding.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Yeah, I think we I think, you know what, maybe
I should have been more offended by that Broncos Country
night back with a six pack.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
After this, it's been.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
All brighty dig Ferguson Chris fit back there producing five six,
six nine zero is the text line. Of course, you
always leave us a talkback on the iHeart absolutely red
BRC and thrown up in the corny weave a talk.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Back like this, Hey guys, this stakes from Utah.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
I don't know if you still have the call in
feature or not, but if you do, it is ron
watch tat.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Salad and it is loaded just like this Broncos roster Caroncos.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Always appreciated, always appreciate talk packs. Now we don't have
the UH call.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Is very much, but we do love people leaving the
talkbacks on the iHeart app and Stacy, we always appreciate
you for those days.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
With that, let's get to an six. It's time for
the NFL six pad.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
I'm gonna trade the last year insight and insight information
you can't find anywhere else. No.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Six the top six NFL headline what.
Speaker 5 (17:22):
On Tuesday, Mike McDaniel said he hopes Jeohn new Smith
remains and uh, there's remains in Miami, and that he
hasn't considered any other alternative yet. Adam Schefter also reported
on Tuesday that the Steelers and Dolphins had resumed trade
negotiations regarding the tight end.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Do you think John new Smith gets moved? And if so,
what do you think? Or I guess either way? What
would it cost to acquire him? Mid rounder? It's not
gonna be privatically expensive.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
We're in the mid rounds like more three or more
like you talk four or five, you know that that
kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Most of these deals they get done right now. That's
what you're looking at. You're looking at late you know,
day three, uh, you know picks that could maybe maybe
become a Day two pick with a you know, if
they put a condition on it, like they play a
certain amount or they hit certain statistical escalators. You know,
if a guy like Courtland would to be traded, you'd
look at a five that could jump to a four,
you know, kind of thing, same same thing you know here.
I think the one guy, I mean Smith Pitts is
(18:17):
another guy that's that's out there on the market right
now now that the Falcons are saying they're not taking
less than the two but they're not going to get that.
But they have all the leverage right now, so you
get to trading camp and that switches. So you know,
I think right now you're going to see a flurry
of speculation about that kind of stuff. I do believe
Johonna Smith could wind up in Pittsburgh. We all know
how much Arthur Smith loves having a bunch of tight
(18:38):
ends and of course obviously his connection there. So we'll see,
we'll see how that goes. But yeah, I think at
the end of the day, you're you're not looking at
at prohibitively expensive and Miami's retooling anyway. Again, that's a
weird team with a weird situation that they could be
cleaning house after this season, I.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Would love to see John Smith with the pistomworth still
from a football standpoint, you couple of him, but you
had him with Pat Fryer move and whether it's Mason
Rudolph who's a quarterback, or Aaron Rodgers. At whatever time
he feels though he wants to join the team that
gives them a prolific tanem at the tight end position.
(19:15):
And like Ben said, when I think about the Miami
Dolphins and where they are from a football standpoint, to me,
they're trying to turn the corners, even if that means
they have to dump some assets right now to do so,
I think they're they're probably doing and I'm thinking like
maybe a third fourth rounder for a guy like John O.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Smith.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
But yeah, he's the perfect fit for what the Steelers
want to do offensively.
Speaker 5 (19:37):
With those former teammates both seemingly available on the tight
end market, Johnny Smith and Kyle Pitts there, who do
you think is the hotter commodity or which one would
you rather trade for?
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Well, I think league wide, the hotter commodity would be
Pitts because he's younger, more athletic, you know, and all
that kind of stuff. I think for the Steelers the
hotter commodity is Jonah Smith because he knows the offense.
I mean, he was with the Tennessee Titans when Arthur
Smith was the offensive coordinator there, so there's a connection
there as far as that kind of stuff goes.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
And also, don't forget when John O.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Smith was with the Titans, he was definitely an offensive powerhouse.
So that once again, this is why the idea of
John Who joining the Steelers makes them much sense.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Two Sakwon Barkley went on Chris Long's The green Light
podcast and discussed his retirement.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Here's what he said.
Speaker 6 (20:26):
I'll probably one of those guys that it'll be out
of nowhere and I'll probably just wake up one day,
whether it's next year or two years or four like,
and it's like it's over. I don't think I'll ever
lose that passion. The competitive nature is always going to
be there. But I like, like, probably my favorite play
all the time is Barry Sanders, So probably similar to that,
(20:48):
maybe one day, like it'll be out of nowhere, I'll
probably bothering and just be like, yeah, call it quits.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
With those kind of shocking comments that Barkley might just
surprisingly retire after one of these ears out of the blue.
How many more years of Saquon Barkley do you think
we'll have left to enjoy?
Speaker 1 (21:06):
We'll have a few.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
I mean, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in
the league for other you know, four years or even
beyond that. You know, Saquon Barkley is not particularly young.
He's twenty eight, twenty eight year old running back, but
you could see him, you know, it depends on the
rook on that thirty thirty year old wall, you know,
where that where that sort of hits him and where
he starts to see himself falling off.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
And he's got the body, he's got the build for,
and the question is going to be what.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Does he want legacy wise in terms of overall production,
you know, with those kinds of things, I mean, this.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Era of running back.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Uh, he's in a pretty interesting place in terms of
overall statistics of what he wants to accruise. So, you know,
thirty thirty two, I think that's probably you know somewhere
in there if I'm.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Saquon Barkley, Yeah, you definitely start to contemplate it. Because
he plays a position that has been the valuable even
though he's been a lot of value back to the position.
And he can say that he's pretty much checked all
the boxes right that he rush for more than two
thousand yards in a single season, chasing Eric Dickinson's single
season rushing record. He's on the cover of Madden and
(22:13):
then also he won a freaking Super Bowl. So he
happens to wake up one day and go, you know what, Uh,
I'm done, I'm out. I don't think anyone will be
upset about that. But he mentioned Barry Sanders, all things
that Barry Sanders, some of those things that Barry Sanders himself,
who's a running back great, never accomplished.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
He's already at what is it, seventy two hundred and
sixteen rushing yards, which is sixty fifth all time. If
he gets one thousand yards, he passed krschel Walker for
forty fifth all time.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
At the end of this year, he gets two thousand.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Yards, another season like this, he jumps ahead of Aman
Green and moves into you know, the thirty eighth place,
thirty ninth place all time on the rushing year. So,
you know, two three seasons, he could theoretically put himself
in the top thirty all time rushers.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Maybe you can hid in that.
Speaker 5 (23:01):
Yeah, and then what do you think of these elite
players retiring near their primer, near their peak. He referenced
Barry Sanders, of course, but we also saw Megatron do
something similar in the twenty Times.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
If he feels like he wants to get out and
be done, the more power to him. Meanwhile, you got
guys like Derek Henry, who's turns? What who's the thirty was?
He thirty one to thirty two years old and still
going strong. He's top off these contracts. So you know,
for some people, football's life, as uh Danny says on
ted Lasso. For some people, football as it means to
an end. And when you're done, you're done.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Reaching your goals that you set for yourself, both from
a team standpoint and the personal standpoint. Once you check
those boxes, which is rare air that certain players get in.
But Saint Quon Barkley is there and maybe he doesn't
want to damage his legacy and not gonna understand that free.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
Speaking of Saint Quon Barkley, Vijon Robinson said that he
and the rest of the Falcons offense are looking for
him to a Saquon Barkley esque twenty twenty five campaign.
Do you think or do you feel confident in Bijon
Robinson reaching some of those same heights as Saquon Barkley,
maybe not two thousand yards, but winning a rushing title,
winning Offensive Player of the Year, you know, maybe even
(24:15):
contending for First team.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
All Pro at the running back position. I don't. I
think he could be a Pro bowler.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
I mean, he had what fourteen hundred rushing, fourteen touchdowns
last year, another like four hundred receiving, give or take.
You think you're gonna need to see more balls throwing
his way and him do more with it in order
to get that kind of that kind of Actually, b John's.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
A good running back. He's young too, He's just what
twenty two, twenty three years old.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
But I don't know, first team All Pro when you've
got guys like Derek Henry and Saquan out there, it's
gonna be tough to you know, to get that first
team All Pro with those guys out there running the ball.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
I'm gonna say yes, because even though you have a
great field of running back, just look at what Bijon
has been able to do thus far in this short
period of time in the league, and he's doing that
with out in my opinion, a full supporting cast. Kirk
Cousins was your quarterback. Now Michael Pennix takes over. What
is that offense going to look like with him running
(25:09):
the show? And also, by the way, we know this
all you have to dudes look at Saquon Barkley and say, okay, well,
who do you have at tight end?
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Who do you have a quarterback?
Speaker 3 (25:17):
More importantly, who are the two wide receivers outside the box?
When you're able to duplicate that with the Falcons, which
I don't think they're at right now, then Bijon would
have that opportunity. But if they continue to build and
stack their offense and build those outside pieces, yes he could.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
Because now you have a more favorable box real quick.
I think the other part of the is you just
talk about supporting cast.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Who are the offensive lines that are in front of
Saint Barkley and Derek Henry? What are the offensive line
in front of Fijan Though you got Jake Matthews, Matt Bergeron,
Ryan usual Finstrim and McGarry's, but I mean it's not
the same caliber offensive line those guys, even.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Though it's not, the potential is still there because he
is still young. I'm not writing the last chapter on
Jon Robinson's career.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Well he's putting carries with Tyler Algier. Yeah, but who's
the Bill Cobb running back.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
I'm just saying they love to put Algier in and
mess that stuff up.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
And Robinson ranked. I feel more confident in his chances.
He ranked fourth in all purpose yards last year, only
behind Barkley, Henry, and Gibbs. You figure Montgomery coming back
eats into Gibbs his production. Some Henry's been immortal some
so far but eventually might fall off. And the history
for guys who had as many touches as Barkley had
last year's, they typically follow up with a fairly rough season.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
So I had to do or.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kamett said he was initially
taken aback by the bears Colston Loveland selection inside the
top ten, but after talking with head coach Ben Johnson,
he said he's not concerned because he understands the team's vision.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Now, do you think Kamett is safe in.
Speaker 5 (26:49):
Chicago or do you think the Bears will look to
save eight point four million against the cat by either
cutting or trading him next offseason.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Like you safe, I think they want to do what
they wanted to do when they had TJ. Hawkins say
and Sam Laporta. They're in Detroit.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
They have a vision for that.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
They have a vision for a twelve personnel packages that
they want to run quite a bit.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Ben Johnson they'll run.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
He runs eleven personnel quite a bit, but he likes
to run twelve personnel as well. And so you know,
I think that there is a definite role for both
those guys get you with what they want to.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
Do, while there's a definite role for you know, Cole Comet.
We know the business of football. Eight point four million dollars.
You just drafted a good tight end. If Lovely starts
to come on, then with every reception, with every touchdown,
with every completion, you're going to see a lot of
deflation in Cole Commett. And he's going to know the
(27:41):
writings on the wall and ideas that Yet they function
well together, but it's a team sport where budget plays
a role. So once again Cole Comett can find himself
being im in out.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. You know, they might
have liked that twelve personnel idea in Detroit, but it
ended up with TJ. Hockens and of course getting shipped out.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
I don't think that it'll be this year. I think
they won't pay cole Comet big money. But I think
for right now, I do think they want to try it.
They'll write it out. Yeah, it makes sense. Lots of
tone five The Miko Ryan said that CJ.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
Stroud's lack of participation at Texans practice so far this
summer is a result of shoulder soreness, but that it's
merely a precautionary measure and there's no cause for concern
right now. At what point, though, do you think we
should be concerned about CJ. Stroud not participating in Texans practice?
Is it the preseason training camp? The week went at
(28:33):
the regular season? When do we get concerned?
Speaker 2 (28:36):
You miss you start missing training camp with shoulder soreness
at that point, then yeah, you're getting concerned.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
Yeah, I'm not concerned yet.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
But anytime you hear shoulder soreness or any elbowsornating with
a pitcher with a quarterback, anytime you hear something about
the arm or shoulder, yeah, there's concern. So, yeah, there's concern,
but I'm not I'm not hitting the panic button at
all until you start getting into the training camp.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
And he's not the guy that's throwing the football. Yeah,
the concern for me is that what was the last
time that CJ. Stroud actually played the game? Right? And
you're still having shoulder soreness? Well, what have you been
doing in the off season to create that show disorders?
Are we talking about getting back to lifting where now
your muscles are sore and tired, or we're talking about
(29:19):
something internally where it's a ligaments or a rotator cup.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
That could limit you in practice.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
Now, you start to worry when it's mandatory mini camp
and then we get to training camp and then he's
missing some time. That's when you start to worry. And
that's where you can't really tell the media, Well, he's
still day to day and he's just dealing with some
sortis and we just kind of keep him out just
to protect him.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
With with him healthy, they are the prohibited favorites to
win a crappy division in the AFC South without him
their host.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
They've got Davis.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
Mills, Graham Berts and Keaton Slovas left on the depth
chart outside of C. J.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Stroud. I think you got to worry.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
Is it a tired arm to your point, or is
it maybe getting beaten up after, you know, taking so
many hits, so many sacks last year, six sad one
year to close us out. Legendary Vikings defender and member
of the Purple People Eaters, Jim Marshall passed away today
at the age of eighty seven. Do you have any
thoughts or memories regarding Jim Marshall that you would like
(30:16):
to share.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
I mean, you know, he's one of those guys that
people often talk about belongs in the Hall of Fame
that isn't playing alongside Allen Page and Carl Eller there
with the peer for people eaters. He went an addy
at Ohio State before he get to the Pros. Two
time old Big ten guy was traded to Minnesota by
the Cleveland Browns. The Browns actually traded him away.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Three time.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Was a three time All Pro, two time Pro bowler,
I believe, if I remember correctly, retired in seventy nine
heart and thirty and a half sacks, thirty fumble recoveries.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Guy was a monster out there.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
He's one of those guys that probably probably belongs in
the Hall of Fame, but it's already in the Minnesota
Ring of Fame.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
Well, being in a Ring of fame is one thing,
but nothing Trump's being in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
This start here. So two things for me.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Being on a defense that's named the Purple People Eaters,
that is something that says a lot about what you
did as an individual, mold that you did collectively, but
also living to the right age of eighty seven. That's
a full life, fulfil so you know, gone but will
not be forgotten.
Speaker 5 (31:22):
He played twenty complete seasons as a defender. Twenty seasons
at all, lasting that long is enough for an NFL
record by any non quarterback. I'm pretty sure he held
the all positions, Special teamers anything record until Jeff Fiegels
broke it in two thousand and five.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
So a guy that, to your point, definitely seems to
deserve it. Yeah, one of those.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
Guys that, again you get mentioned a lot when people
ask why isn't this guy in the Hall of Fame.
That's one of those names that always comes up, and
respect around the league too. It's not just Minnesota fans
that asked that. It's everybody that asked that. You know me,
I'm always stumping for Henry Ellard, you know, the Rams receiver.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Who come on, man, It's like, what are you waiting for?
Speaker 2 (32:02):
When he retired, he was the second old time leading
receiver in NFL his bat behind Jerry Rice when he retired.
Now people have passed him in the Golden era of
passing since. But Andrey Ellard was unbelievable. He was putting
up thousand, you know, thousand fifteen of our seasons or
whatever with like the Washington and the Patriots back when
they were bad when he was over thirty.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
He was, say, thirty five years old.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
But this is one of those things that frustrated me
as a fan to say, well, forget that guy's fought
was why he's still the lives and he could actually enjoy.
Don't wait till a guy pass and then oh now
put him in.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Chad Bauer today was telling me, you know he was
that's another guy, just you know, Chad Bower of our news.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
He was telling Jim Marshall Hall of Famer Broncos Countries
to night rolls on. If this think sec Broncos Country
night rolls after this he read, the last baby oil
off the self. Now I gotta go get it. Don't
tell Diddy I've got off that
