Now I did where you can you can get to
take you for Granted podcast right now. Gret Smith obviously
off tonight. How did you like that?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
That was good?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I was like, I was not expecting Chris Zach deal
with some stuff back there. I was not expected to
hear the sound. But you know, I was like, wait
what Yes, threw me off. Look at your face. He
was like you just like a dog where it was.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Yeah, I was not expected to hear the sound of there,
So that one threw me off, uh a little bit.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
We're gonna get to uh.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Parker Gabriel here in just a second from the post
he was out there today. Was there anything else that
jumped out at you today that did kind of surprise you?

Speaker 3 (00:59):
No, it wasn't anything that was surprising.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
I mean, the team is kind of winding down this
part of the OTAs, but I mean you can see
a lot of guys for me, was smiling, right, guys,
you know, smiling and a lot of guys fault being
comfortable with the offense and being comfortable with the defense.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Hopefully that comfort level.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Translates into more wins this upcoming season.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
We'll go ahead.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
You can't wait commas T hotline.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
I don't bring O Guy Parker Gabriel Parker J Gabriel
on Twitter Parker are you.

Speaker 6 (01:30):
Doing I'm doing good?

Speaker 7 (01:32):
Howre you guys doing doing well?

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Long time no talk obviously, Yea out there we're gonna
talk a little bit about the second you know, League
minimum of viewing session that we get for for OTAs.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
What did What do you see out there at OTAs today?

Speaker 5 (01:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:51):
I thought it was interesting, you know, I mean I
think you could tell.

Speaker 8 (01:54):
That the energy level wasn't good, or that you know,
guys weren't moving and all that, like just it's you
could know. Was the end of a couple of weeks
of three days and then obviously just a week of
you know.

Speaker 6 (02:05):
Mini camp weft before summer next.

Speaker 8 (02:07):
Week, I thought, you know, by and large, like you know,
I think it's gonna be a really good.

Speaker 5 (02:13):
Competition at receiver.

Speaker 8 (02:14):
It's sort of like Sean Payton said last week.

Speaker 6 (02:16):
Not for roster spots necessarily, but for pecking order.

Speaker 5 (02:21):
You know, RJ.

Speaker 8 (02:22):
Harvey continues to look good. It makes the Dobbins visit
and that sort of question about you know, what are
they going to do at running back all the more interesting.
Is like it's no secret what's gonna happen with RJ.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
Harvey.

Speaker 8 (02:36):
I mean that you know, Sean's been talking about using
him heavily from the start and getting object estimate more
chances and all of this, And so I just think
like there's a lot to talk about on defense. There's
a lot of continuity on defense, but I think there's
a lot of just sort of intrigue about you know,
young guys breakout potential on offense and all of that.

(02:57):
And then also just like what they end up doing
at running back.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
You know, this offensive line obviously with the low production
from a running back standpoint, I mean, they're going to
be the topic of conversation for sure. But when you
look at this this offensive line group and usually on
a group, you need someone to stand out. I mean
it was Tom Naland when I played for the Denver Broncos.

(03:21):
Who's kind of like that? How for mail amongst that group?

Speaker 8 (03:26):
For you, yeah, I mean I think you know Mike
mcglinche definitely is is sort of the most eloquent speaker
and frankly like you know, the decision even if they're
not the two best offensive linemen on the team. I
think one of the first things Sean Payton did when
he got here, obviously was they spent a ton of
money on the offensive.

Speaker 7 (03:45):
Line and free agency, and that.

Speaker 6 (03:47):
Approach has worked. It's paid dividends.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
I mean to me, like the guy is Quinn Miners.

Speaker 8 (03:53):
I mean, he's the best player now, he's paid like
one of the top guys. He's thoughtful, he's a good
quote like for us in dealing with him.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
But obviously he's got you know, continent respect in the room,
and so you know he's a he's a He.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Came from a Division three school.

Speaker 8 (04:13):
He admitted last year, acknowledged readily early in the season
that his place suffered because.

Speaker 6 (04:18):
He had put a lot of pressure on himself.

Speaker 8 (04:20):
Being a captain and being an All Pro and then
getting the big contract, and so I think I think
it's all to him, even though they've got a lot
of experience and a lot of leadership qualities on that
offensive line, Like he's the dude and and I think,
you know, part of the offensive ascension this fall.

Speaker 6 (04:41):
I mean, it's on the whole front unit, but I think.

Speaker 5 (04:43):
Quinn Minors like plays a really big.

Speaker 8 (04:46):
Role in that, just given the caliber of player he
is and and you know the style of leader that
that he is, and that he's trying to be mean with.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Parker Gabriel and Parker J. Gabriel on Twitter? Are you
with me and celebrating Mele season? Because these other two
disbelievers here and everybody else. So we've we've we've talked to.

Speaker 6 (05:08):
My guy.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
They're saying that he's a bum, that he should be
locked in a closet, never allowed to touch a football. Again,
I may be a bit hyperbolic there. They may have
called himide receiver three or something, but I I you know,
as we continue to see him progress, he does look
like he's going to have a big role this year.

Speaker 8 (05:23):
Yeah, you sponsored the bill to try to make it officially.

Speaker 6 (05:26):
Melee, And I think I co sponsored. So yeah, no,
I think.

Speaker 8 (05:31):
That's yeah, he's looked he's looked good. I mean it's
one of those where you know, like to some degree,
everybody looks good. We're I've had this conversation a couple
of times this spring about wide receivers, like at Ricky Minniecamp,
when you're looking at the guys that jump out, it's like, oh.

Speaker 7 (05:47):
Yeah, Jirwan Newton, he looks kind of good.

Speaker 8 (05:49):
And and oh, you know Tyrese White they signed him after.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
A tryout and all of this, and like it's just a.

Speaker 8 (05:55):
Reminder that there are so many receivers in the NFL
that it's really hard to go from being you know,
pretty good to being like an upper level dude.

Speaker 6 (06:03):
And so you know, the Broncos have a couple.

Speaker 8 (06:05):
Of guys obviously if they're hoping breaks through in that regard,
Marvin Vims sort of started to last year, and then
obviously Bley and Franklin. I thought both of those guys
looked good. Sean Payton has maybe not gone out of
his way, but hasn't been shy about banging the Troy
Franklin drum so far this spring and saying he thinks

(06:27):
he's prying for a breakout. But I'm with you, Ben,
Like I watch and like Vley catches everything he makes
contested catches.

Speaker 6 (06:34):
He's open.

Speaker 8 (06:35):
He just kind of does productive stuff all the time,
which like, honestly is pretty much what we've seen every
time we've seen the Broncos practice where he's been on
the field since his rookie mini camp last year. It's
just kind of he just keeps producing and at some point,
you know, you can't ignore that.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Now there's a kind of code name that was made
famous here by Sean Payton and to me got to
a point where it got exhaustive constantly hearing about it
here locally but also nationally.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
And that was kind of the Joker.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
And and I think Evan Ingram kind of changed or
trying to change that narrative and calling it not the
Joker but code named the Cleaner.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
I kind of like that a lot better.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
How do you feel about that idea of not being
a joker but Evan Ingram being the aka the Cleaner?

Speaker 8 (07:31):
Yeah, put that to the Denver media a chord and
see if we can't, you know, I mean, that's usually
how these things go. But yeah, no, I mean I
thought that was great, you know that.

Speaker 7 (07:41):
That's what he said.

Speaker 6 (07:42):
He called himself a cleaner, and he he's up pretty
you can tell.

Speaker 8 (07:45):
You know, he's he's media savvy, he's media literate, you know,
all that stuff, like the super interesting dude.

Speaker 6 (07:51):
So there's he talked about.

Speaker 7 (07:54):
Leaning into the joker thing because he thought fans.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
Would think it was fun and appreciate it and all.

Speaker 6 (07:59):
Of that, and so I thought that was cool.

Speaker 8 (08:01):
But yeah, I know, the cleaner he says he tries
to do things, you know, the right way, every single day,
every single.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
Time, that sort of thing.

Speaker 6 (08:07):
So you know, he's a it's kind of funny.

Speaker 8 (08:10):
It's like you call him a joker. You can call
him a tight end. You can just call him a
slot receiver like you know, you could call him pretty
much whenever you want. And if he gets eighty five catches,
you'll call him the best tight end the bron because
it's had in a decade. So like it all, you know,
whatever it is for even Ingram, he knows the opportunity.
He obviously thinks hyly of Bonnix and Sean Payton.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
He's a good fit in this system.

Speaker 7 (08:34):
And if he stays healthy, it's just hard. I mean, like,
I'm not saying that Broncos.

Speaker 6 (08:38):
Are gonna win thirteen games or anything, but.

Speaker 7 (08:40):
Like, among the things that just.

Speaker 6 (08:42):
Seem pretty plainly obvious.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
Is like, if Evan Ingram.

Speaker 8 (08:46):
Plays in sixteen or seventeen games, it's just hard to
imagine the world in which he's not very productive.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
A Parker Gabriel Parker Jay Gabriel on Twitter. Well, let's
let's let's hold you to that. Then you said the
thirteen wins. You guarantee thirteen wins for the Broncos this year,
you're getting out of the industry. Yeah, as we look
at it, as we look at this tee you though,
I mean, things do look smoother a little bit to me.
I mean it looks a little less disjoyed. A part
of that may be the byproduct of having a quarterback
in a second year. Part of that may just be

(09:14):
additional familiarity in the continuity of so many people coming
back for another season of Sean Payton and Vance Joseph's defense.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
But is that the same with you? Does does it
feel smoother this year?

Speaker 5 (09:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (09:27):
Definitely, definitely. And I mean again, like that doesn't.

Speaker 8 (09:30):
Necessarily translate to a big uptick and wins you know,
obviously time will tell on that, but like, yeah, and
I think as much I think a lot of people
and rightfully to point out bo Nicks in year two
and all of that, and certainly like listening to Bogue
talk last week, I mean, it's the first time bo
Nix has had you.

Speaker 6 (09:48):
Know, coaching system.

Speaker 7 (09:49):
Playbook continuity just literally one year.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
To the next since he played for his dad in
high school.

Speaker 7 (09:55):
He had five different.

Speaker 8 (09:57):
Offensive coordinators in five college years.

Speaker 6 (09:59):
So like it's obviously good for.

Speaker 8 (10:01):
Him, and it's it's you know, I've got roster continuity
and all that.

Speaker 6 (10:06):
But to me, like guys, I think, I think.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
Year three of of Sean is everybody.

Speaker 8 (10:12):
Is important, just like from a franchise standpoint, probably more
important than year two of bow Nicks, just in the
sense of like there's been a lot of turnover, but
there are a lot of core guys who now are
going into the third year of having the same coordinator,
the same head coach, the same you know sort of
like goals and and speak the same language, and.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
That just like that makes a lot of difference.

Speaker 8 (10:37):
That's that's Mike McGlinchey, that's Alex Singleton, that's Garrett Bowles,
that's Cortland, Sutten, It's the guys that sort of like
made it through the transition, and then that sort of
core group that's been here.

Speaker 7 (10:48):
The last couple of years.

Speaker 8 (10:49):
Like those guys all this is this is old hat
for them at this point. It's just it's it's what
they know in their professional lives.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
And that's a big different. It's obviously been still sort
of being in transition.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Marcle.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Let's talk about something that you know has not really
talked about in this market for whatever particular reason why
we're going to talk.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
About it tonight.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
And we get all these changes and all these moving
parts on the office of defensive side. There's been a
lot of change in the scouting department for the Denver Broncos,
but we never really focus on Sean Payton himself. And
here's what I mean by that, that the fact of
what do you think with Sean Payton going into his
third season as Broncos head coach and no see what

(11:33):
changes do we think that we need to see or
we want to see when it comes to Sean Payton's
play calling? Are you anticipating that things are going to
be a little different now than they were over the
past two years.

Speaker 8 (11:48):
I mean, it's kind of that's a good question, Nick.
My gut instinct, I know, I guess we'll see if
this is true. My gut instinct is that the changes
that Sean Payton will make from just like a play
calling perspective this season compared to the first.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
Two are I guess.

Speaker 7 (12:04):
Like changes in name only they are changes.

Speaker 5 (12:07):
Like back toward what he did more.

Speaker 8 (12:11):
Fully in New Orleans, like he has played or called
games the last two years.

Speaker 6 (12:16):
So I mean the first year when the quarterback that he.

Speaker 8 (12:18):
Wasn't wild about, and then both of those years like
without the sort of two foremost weapons that he likes
to deploy an offense, as a dynamic running back and
a dynamic tight end in the passing game. And so
to me, it's like, is it different. I mean, sure,
like you're going to tailor to bo Nix a skill
set and all that.

Speaker 6 (12:38):
That's all important. But to me, like I'm thinking that
he's thinking, Okay.

Speaker 8 (12:44):
Now, I'm not comparing them as caliber of players, but
it's like, now, all the stuff you did with Kamara
and with Jimmy Graham, like all that back in now
whereas like some of that stuff it just didn't get
sort of a curt answer last year about the tight
ends where it's like you just play with the guys
you have, and that's true, but like to me, it's
like everything old is new again, you know, if anything

(13:07):
this year where it's like, Okay, now we can get back.

Speaker 5 (13:10):
To all of these choice routes, all of this stuff
with the tight end over the middle.

Speaker 8 (13:14):
Of the field that just hasn't produced the way he's
used to having it produced over the last couple of years.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Parker.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
We we just appreciate the time as always, you guys,
all right, Parker J Gabriel on Twitter. I the one
thing I any wanted to ask but we didn't get
a chance to.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
We're up against it here was who's in trouble on
this team? Who's in, who's in, who's fighting for roster spot?
Who's in trouble?

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Come on, man, it's it's a little too early in
the process.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Hell no, cause you know the dudes are thinking about it.
You as totally know the dudes you're thinking about Like
you draft the Jade.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Barn, you you know you signed certain there's certain receivers
you see them signed Sherfield.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
As a special teams guy and they draft Pap.

Speaker 7 (13:54):
Right.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
You see, if you're Demari mathis right now, aren't you worried?

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Well, yeah, you're a little worried.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
But to me, it's like give it another you know,
two or two and a half weeks before we started talking.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
About the guys who are worried.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Right and putting in that regard because these guys still
have an opportunity to make a first impression, even as
for some of the guys who have been here for
a while. Because hope springs eternal and every year brings
about a different outlook for every player, just because you
were great last year doesn't necessarily mean you would be

(14:29):
great this year, which also give some of those guys
who didn't perform or underperformed last year just a little
optimism like you still.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Have a window, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Well, they still got time.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
But in the back of your mind, you're starting to
look at you like, Okay, the math and math in here,
I'm gonna have to make a move to make myself
indispensable to this roster.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
Very very true, but I just.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
Wanted to give it just maybe a couple more weeks
to let it simmer, just just a little right, because
because once again, once these guys go forward break before
they have to come back.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
That's when to me it's free game.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
That now started talking about that. But yes, you're right.
Guys who are in that locker.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Room, they were looking around saying, you know what, I'm
counting fingers as far as how many guys we had
at certain positions last year, how many of us are
still going to be here.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
But I'll tell you this, this is the part that
sucks and I absolutely hate it.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
It happens here in the Broncos happened with other teams too,
because the position that kind of gets I guess elevated
over other ones offensive linemen and the skilled positions more poorly,
DB's with the position group that gets screwed the most.
Team goes, well, we need another swing lineman, right, I
mean you think that you made the team.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Now you got to get another lineman. So that makes
you man, You're like, here's any plays sea and you.

Speaker 7 (15:48):
Keeping them on the round.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Understanding, Yeah, yeah, no, I can. I can definitely really.
Today we got an NFL six pack. We go back
in Broncos country Tonight, Sex sixty nine Zeros text line
thanks to Parker Gabrie joining us in the last segment.
You missed any part of that, you go to Brockers
Coutry dot dot com, Slash podcast or Revae podcast, Apple iTunes, Spotify,

(16:11):
the three and redesigned iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
You know the didn't didn't nail it, did not nail it.
You can also taken it for credit podcast as well.
It's time for the NFL six pack. It's time for
the NFL six pack.

Speaker 8 (16:28):
I'm gonna trade the last year and insight information you
can't find anywhere else, I know, the top six NFL headline.

Speaker 9 (16:38):
What it sounds like Aaron Rodgers is finally signing a
one year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, just in time
for mandatory mini camp. What do you think the Steelers
floor and ceiling is for this upcoming season in terms
of wins or how far they make it in the
playoffs with their new found future Hall of Fame quarterback.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Well, it was a bad day all around for Mason Rudolph.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
And if you get that, Joe, congratulations to you. I
don't I mean what ten wins?

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Maybe it's a tough division.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Aaron Rodgers ain't the same guy.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
He's never played in this offense before.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
I am interested to see how Arthur Smith and Aaron
Rodgers mesh more than anything else. He's got plenty of
He's got plenty of talent there, you know, on offense
and one of the better defenses he's ever had in
his back. But I don't know how much the lads
left in the tank, how well is he gonna mesh
with with everything there, because I don't I don't know

(17:43):
that he's a fit for that city, that that roster
that you know, I don't know, we'll see.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
I don't think this is gonna end well for Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
This is really interesting because, yeah, you get a Hall
of Fame's caliber quarterback, but you still and arguably wanted
a tougher The vision in football and playing in the
NFC is entirely different than playing in the AFC, and
Rodgers is going to get a rude awakening because think

(18:10):
about it now, I mean, the defense is in the AFC,
they come after you, they gonna go get it. And
he's still a quarterback who can't really move that well.
And hopefully him coming in now gives him an opportunity
to kind of learn the players and development chemistry. But
Ben hit Dannell On the hand, Arthur Smith's your OC.
We know, as great as the player Aaron Rodgers is,

(18:32):
he still has a dark side to it.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Can't.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Arthur Smith and Aaron Rodgers coexists, and that's the challenge.

Speaker 9 (18:39):
He hasn't humbled himself in the way Russell Wilson has.
You know, after things went south for us, he kind
of humbled himself and has been really easy to work
with with these past few coaches. Rodgers hasn't had that
come to Jesus moment. It seems like, and I don't.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Know, you're gonna have to run his system.

Speaker 9 (18:54):
He's gonna be throwing the ball away NonStop because he
doesn't want to get touched anymore.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
I'm kind of with you.

Speaker 9 (18:59):
I think this blow up and maybe ironically be the
season that Mike Tomlin gets his losing record.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Yeah, Aaron Rodgers the coach killer, right, get you know,
I mean you got to McCarthy fired back in the day,
because that's that's what you wanted.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
You got Robert Sala co fired coach showing just saying.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
I mean tomlan is the most tenured coach in the
league to date.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Aaron Rodgers the coach killer man, He's the grim Reaper
game knocking on the Mike Harmins.

Speaker 9 (19:32):
Colts head coach Shane Steichens said quarterback Anthony Richardson is
out indefinitely and will miss the rest of minie camp
at least after aggravating an ac joint injury in practice.
How concerning is this and how much more likely do
you think this makes it that Daniel Jones is the
Colts starting quarterback in Week one?

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Well, I've always sai Danie Jones is gonna be starting
quarterback this year, So this is you know, I per sources,
Richardson will be back for trading camp. But what a
great time to to get an injury if you you know,
you know you're about to lose a quarterback battle and uh,
you know you want to get you want to get
your money on, uh on everything.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
You want to get your money on everything?

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Uh uh guaranteed due to injury?

Speaker 2 (20:15):
What a? What A? What an opportune time to come
up with an injury?

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Are you saying that Richardson is very opportunistic?

Speaker 1 (20:23):
I'm I'm saying that Daniel Jones is going to win
that quarterback competition if he hasn't won it, already and uh,
he's going to be the cold starting quarterback this year
and Anthony Richardson is about to go the way of
Trey Lance.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
So I mean, one thing we do.

Speaker 9 (20:39):
Know about Anthony Richardson he likes a well timed break.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
You don't think it's suggest that he's.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Pulling himself right now from from OTAs taking a breather.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Yeah, I need an a coach. I'm pulling myself.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
Let's keep this in mind. This means there's two quarterbacks
in AFC. Sound we now have alleged shoulder injuries.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Ce J Stroud's a sore shoulder and Richardson Snow. You know,
I'm just saying maybe not in the AFC South at
that too. Yeah, like no, not the worst division in football.

Speaker 7 (21:11):
Three.

Speaker 9 (21:13):
In a recent interview, Dan Patrick told Derrick Henry that
he'll introduce him to Adam Sandler and that if Henry
has yet another two thousand yard rushing season, that he'll
get him a role in an Adam Sandler movie. Do
you think we'll see Henry and an Adam Sandler flick
in the coming years or is he probably.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
Not going to get that?

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Derek Henry might not have ever been more motivated than
now because he's apparently a huge Adam Sandler fan. Like
a huge Adam Sandler fan, he might not ever have
had the motivation that he has, right because like you
ever watched Derrick Henry and he effortlessly gets to two
thousand yards.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Imagine that dude running angry, right, because that dude, what
did he stiff?

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Oh was a Jayla Ramsey that he threw through the
center of the earth or whoever was that he stiffed
arm through the center?

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Remember that? Josh Josh Norman, y Josh Norman. Right, he's
still in the field.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
You're still digging him up like Jimmy Hoffer.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Right, Yeah, dere.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Motivated Derrick Henry, Are you kidding me?

Speaker 1 (22:13):
I don't he might be. I wouldn't put it past him.
Two thousand yards. I believe he can do it.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Oooh man, two thousand yards, that's a that's a lot.
That's Saint Kwan Barkley. I mean, I'm breaking every other
forth carry sixty to fifty yards. I mean, I don't
want to doubt Derrick Henry. I would love to see
it take place. He would continue to change the narrative
about aging running backs and how well, they can perform.

(22:40):
I mean, we've seen Adrian Peters that come off of
a shredded knee and he had a fantastic season.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
So signed me up.

Speaker 9 (22:47):
Four in Henry's defense had one twenty one rushing yards
last year, so dials.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
It up a little bit. He could get right there.
And he struggled the.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
First couple of games getting used to run out of
the gun like that. Remember that, Like he struggled the
first like two three games to get to get used
to run out of the gun instead of runn out
of the eye.

Speaker 9 (23:06):
If Henry adds another two thousand yard season to his resume,
especially in the modern era when we're seeing all these
rushing numbers deflated league wide, where would you rank him
in the all time pantheon of running backs?

Speaker 2 (23:20):
Roughly? Is he a top five guy, a top ten guy?
He's a top ten guy for sure. I don't think
I'm putt him in front of I'm not putting brant Emmet.

Speaker 9 (23:29):
Barry Sweetness, Yeah, Ben Brown, Yeah, I think somewhere in
that Curtis Martin, Frank Gore range, I'll put him there.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Yeah, you're putting him in that category.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
And there is an argument to put him in the
top five because once again, think about it, you mentioned
himin needed that opposite line, which I mean leon Land
had those huge among his guys up front, Derrick Henry
among his guys in front of him. But he is
powering through guys himself. That's a whole different animal.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
I'm just saying, I'm having Lamar Jackson back there quarterback
helps him out though, because you got to.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
You got to push by on Lamar, you know, to keep
him contained.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
He was doing that when he was at the Titans.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
Yeah, so mean.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Tannehill was fairly well. I'm just saying it gets a
little easier when you got a mobile quarterback back there
be Tannehill.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
What I'm just saying, the dude was doing it before
he made it to Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
I'm doing it after thirty right now.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
I mean, and that tells you a lot about what
is capable of.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
So I'm just saying.

Speaker 9 (24:31):
Or Brown's defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz told the media that
he's expecting a career season from Miles Garrett following his
record setting extension. Do you think Garrett will live up
to that forty million dollar a year price tag?

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Garrett got the money he wanted.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
He got the player he wanted in Mason Graham in
the draft.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
He better live up to that.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
I mean, he got everything that he asked for from
the Cleveland Browns. Uh, you know you better, you better
live up to that. The question is gonna because they're
gonna need to rely on their defense this year. You're
gonna have some combination of Flacco and probably should do her.
You know, at the end of the day, some combination
of them quarterbacking for you this year, if camp reports
are to be believed. So they're gonna need to rely

(25:15):
on their defense little bit this year.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
Well, that all depends on who their quarterback is and
how productive he's gonna be. Because if you can score points,
that means the opposition got to get out of the
running game. Now that they had to pass the ball.
Now gives mab Garrett an opportunity to get home. But
also sometimes you said the bar so high for yourself,
and one year it's hard to duplicate that same level

(25:36):
of production. So will he give to that number? I
don't think so. Will he show that he has.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
Earned the contract? To me, they paid him, he's earned it.
To this point, trying to duplicate.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
That is going to be very difficult.

Speaker 9 (25:50):
I feel like he's got the most pressure any edge
rusher has had on them in quite some time. You know,
he's got this huge contractor pr improve and you know
how things just went this offseason with him saying I
have no interest in staying with Cleveland. This is not
about money. This is about the franchise not being positioned
to win. And then he's like, psyche, guys, no, I'm
a six. Money's like, it's always about the money. No,

(26:11):
I know, but I think the fan base had a
hard time.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
With that one. Yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
Five.

Speaker 9 (26:20):
Derek Carr told Front Office Sports this week that he
felt like he had to retire this offseason because he
just felt wrong about taking the New Orleans Saints' money
considering the deterioration of his shoulder. Do you think that
car was doing the Saints as solid by retiring and
will we ever see Derek Carr again on an NFL field?

Speaker 2 (26:40):
No, I believe he was doing them a solid.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
Yeah, I mean it benefits them if that's what we're asking.
I don't know that he was necessarily doing them a
solid so much as he realized, like, hey, this is
messed up.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
You know, I don't have it. You know, my fastball
is going seventy eight miles an hour now, so you know,
I I mean doing't have a solid in the sense
that it benefits New Orleans. Sure, and the pr spin
is palpable at this point, but the reality is, I
mean he's a guy who just you know, the body's
broken down, couldn't do anymore.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Yeah, the body's broken down.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
And yeah he did them a favor because I mean
he allowed them to kind of move on past him.
But will we see Derek cart know, and I got
fond memories of him and you know, getting the Raiders
and putting them in that position where they were in
the playoffs. He lost to the Texans, and I think
brock Oswalo was a quarterback for the Texans at that time.

(27:31):
But I'm always going to remember Carr in some of
his great years, even though he played for the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
He's really good years. He had some good years, but
he really did I mean it was a guy. I
think he was one of the more underrated guys when
he was at the top of his.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Game because he had very little talent around him and
still put up some pretty decent numbers. He was a
slow starter guy, like he always It took the second
year of the system for him to get it.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
But yeah, I you know, I think he was always
one of those guys that.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Was there was a little bit underrated about miss him
in the Leagueuse I thought he's a fun player.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Not going to miss him, you know. Nicol and Diamond
the Broncos down the Field six.

Speaker 9 (28:08):
Former Buffalo Bills defensive tackle and current Minnesota Viking Harrison
Phillips said that JJ McCarthy is reminding him of Josh
Allen during the OTA period.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
Do you think.

Speaker 9 (28:21):
JJ McCarthy, considering this high praise will be an upgrade
or a downgrade on the top tennis level quarterbacking that
Sam Darnold was able to provide the Minnesota Vikings with
just last season.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Is he is he talking about Josh Allen is a
rookie because that wasn't good.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
He's saying the JJ McCarthy ridesh Josh Allen when he
couldn't water when he was pulling ont of a boat.

Speaker 9 (28:41):
Specifically, he was highlighting the leadership ability, the work ethic.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
A lot of them, there's almost no resent what of
the physical traits. Yeah, there's they are almost completely opposite
style quarterbacks too. You know, I think there's gonna be
a step back.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
I mean, he's a rookie expecting I mean, he hadn't played,
he's not really a rookie, but he is a rookie.
And if you're expecting anything anything more out of that
than I mean, and you get it, cool, but that's
that's wishful thinking at that point.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
I think the vik The's offense takes a little bit
of a step.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
Back this year, and then they're gonna have to rely
on their defense a little bit more, which was not
which was lights out last year.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
Yeah, I mean it's always helpful a rookie who sat
on the sideline with injury, now he's thrusting two start
a role, watching another quarterback elevate the team to a
whole different level. I give McCarthy an opportunity because he
has a lot of weapons around him, and and his
offensive coordinator is.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
A smart guy. But I mean, for Haris Phillips.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
To say this about his young quarterback, this is what
you expect. This is kind of like, you know, what
you say in the locker room to kind of big
up your guy and give him that boat as confidence.
But talking about him in the realm of Josh Allen
man puppy breaks. We got to see it before we
started making those comparisons.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Yeah, just go to Sam Barnold.

Speaker 9 (29:59):
Last Sam Donald had a great year for the Vikings,
you know, every just go hey, he looks so great
relative to what we saw last year.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
The offense is still humming.

Speaker 9 (30:09):
Going right to Josh Allen, I remember you talking about
are we setting up bow knicks for failure? Maybe with
all the hype we're getting around this guy, I wonder
if you know, the Vikings could maybe be doing something
similar with JJ McCarthy, because you know, Dobbs made it
work in this offense and Donald made it work in
this offense. There's this expectation now that I don't know
this guy, you invested a top eleven pick and.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Better be able to make it work.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
Yeah, and you know, I mean, I think having that
year to to soak up the system before he got
his rookie year is going to help him out. But
it's it's just it's it's I don't know, it's it's
painful to see the over the kind of over hype
that happens right now as you're waiting for this to happen,
and then you you know, you see it was the
same thing. I mean, we saw from Broncos media about

(30:52):
bow Nicks last year in training camp. They were hyping
the hell out of both talking and I was like, bro,
he's not even like, he's not better than Stidham right now.
Now give him some games that he will be, but
he's not even better than Jared Stidham right now, and
you know, at least not in practice.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
And so, you know, it was it was interesting.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
To sort of see that play out and bow took
off around you know, it was a week six.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
I guess when he started, you know, things started to
click for him. That's gonna be really interesting.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
I mean because when you talk about bo obviously people
were talking about Bowling that way because they wanted.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
To move past Russell and they wanted to have.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
Their quarterback that they can say that this is our
own even though we can't say that Bo is homegrown
talent or being drafted by the Broncos definitely changed thing.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
So sometimes you pump your brakes.

Speaker 4 (31:33):
But I still think Phillips saying what he said about
making the comparison between McCarthy and Josh Allen is a
little too premature.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
I'm with it. You think he's you think he's got
to outpace what Sam Darrel did last year.

Speaker 9 (31:47):
Oh No, I think I think it could be kind
of sneaky bad for the Vikings this year.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
I wouldn't be too surprised because you look at.

Speaker 9 (31:53):
The run we've seen of the quarterbacks there. You know,
I think they'll be okay, But I don't know. It
just feel was like the heaters do to come to
a close. And I'm also influenced by the fact all
four guys we saw play a good bit last year.
The rookie quarterbacks that is look like hits. It's very rare.
So that's gonna five or six for six.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
Yeah, it's gonna put a lot of pressure on him
to go out there and try to make something happen
really early. And what I've seen from young players, especially quarterbacks,
they press too much.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
And they make mistakes.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Yeah, and it's I think that's one of the most
interesting divisions in football because all four of those teams
are fairly decent. You have been Johnson or Chicago, now
you're expecting enough to take Of course, Detroit we all know,
but they got a coordinator to turnover. The packers are
always perennially good and bed the Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
So it's gonna be a fascinating division. Broncos Country Tonight,
Rosol after this
