Speaker 1 (00:00):
That is an all time worst poster getting dunked on
face there Johnny Furfy uh dunk the ball earlier today
in the game against the Bulls and twenty four for
the Bulls.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
It got caught in this photo.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
I mean, it's just this is the worst facial expression
as you're getting dunked and he's like back is turned
and he looks like, I don't know. You have to
judge it for yourself. You go to all Bright NFL.
I retweeted it. You could see it.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
It is that.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
That is an all time most embarrassing getting dunked on face.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, that's uh four k. That's very difficult to overcome.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
That's one of those types of plays that you gotta
come back and do something in the next game to
trump that. So everyone forgets that last photo, but going
to face the face of the guy being dunked on
is like, oh, bitter beer face.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Yeah, that's that was I mean, just I don't it's
normally when you get dunked on like that, it's your back.
You don't even see the facial expression right like you
was right there this fig and center this photographer got
I mean, just oh, I feel for and who's twenty
(01:10):
four on the Bulls.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Anyway, who knows what these summer league rosters? I know
s is something like.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
That, maybe because I was like Horton Tucker's twenty two
and I was trying to I was just trying to
run down.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
The list of my head.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
I don't know who who twenty four on the Bulls
is right now? Uh for the summer League. But whoever
that is getting dunk on? My goodness, that is that
is all time post ride. Like you know what we
were talking about? This called the broken ankles versus the
dunked on. Yes, I'd rather have my broke my ankle's
broken ten times in one game than have that face
(01:42):
facial expression captured in four.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
K to be humiliated on, I would agree as someone
who's been dunked on.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
So now does that now become the new meme? Does
every place to Jordan crying Jordan?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Do this? I think it could be used in similar
say what this looks like?
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Like I can't looks like it's very painful coming from
behind him.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Yeah, yeah, like I really can't, Like I can't say
what this looks like on the air, Like I can't
describe what this looks like?
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Thanks to the FCC. But it is.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
I mean, man, your family's gonna see that's I mean,
that's on the Bleacher Report made account.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
People are gonna see that. You gotta hope he makes
the team.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
And this isn't like the lasting memory time in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
That is, I mean, especially with Johnny Furfey.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
The name itself, Johnny furfy right, like the comments here
in the y'all couldn't find another picture bash.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
The Taiwan Tiger is calling out. That's just say so.
The name like Johnny Furfrey and a haircut like that
and nothing like that. This guy's life is over, yo.
You put just up on the for sure. But the
other guy being done done, you gotta do something.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Like I'm gonna read some of these comments just so
you can get an idea, all right, can't you actually.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Get through most of them?
Speaker 1 (03:12):
This guy's this is a comment on Twitter, the face
he made when a girl says go deeper.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Nick has left the studio Nicks out.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Like it is.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
I'm just telling like, you have to see this. I
can't even read. I can't even read most of the comments.
That's the only one I can read at wolves who
I'm deleting.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
All my socials that possibly my life after this picture.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Wow, I had to literally run out of the room.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
On that way at Wealth on Mars.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
This just undid twenty seven years of black history. I
do the comments session, the comment section. Yeah, the homies
never letting him this one.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
No, they're not. You might even go back to your
neighborhood right after that one.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
There's so many people this has to be photoshopped, Like,
how do you recover from something like that?
Speaker 3 (04:12):
I mean, because being posterized was one of those things
playing pick up basketball, I said that I'm never going
to try to challenge a dude that I've already known
that he has hot, so I'm not even jumping. So
I'm gonna be fighting for his life. He's trying to
make an NBA life. Yeah, that's what it is now,
because when they go back and start evaluating, they gonna
(04:35):
put that to put that play up there and said, well, hmmm,
who vout for this kid?
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Every time you go to look at tape, the coaches
got the clicker.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
He's putting it up there, and that's the first thing
you see.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
And you know, we live in the world of technology
now that you think that that are in the cloud.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
That disappeared or not. Dude, this is going to forever
live on social media. Ever figure out who this is? Like,
did we never figure who it is?
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Noah a sing, Okay, this is make the French player.
You gotta go back to France after that. Go back
to France after that, Like you can't look like they
just think think about it. We're only getting it in
steel shots.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
We didn't. We didn't have it looked at it in
real I see the video, I've seen the video. I
haven't seen it a video. It looks like you got
dunked on, like pretty bad.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
But the photo capturing that facial expression just makes it
a hundred times more comedic. Yeah, I mean you could
just Google or you just do the Twitter search function
for Johnny furfy duncan you could see you could see
the video. I mean, he gets dunked on viciously. But man,
that I mean you just got the photographer that caught
you at the exact wrong This is why I.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Could never be famous. Man, I could never be famous
because if.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
I had to like walk a red carpet or whatever, like,
all those photographers would catch me at the exact wrong moment.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
That's how they get the photo. They wait hide in
the bushes. They have to hide the bushes for me.
You just be right out front, like smile for the camera.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Instantly, all of a sudden, a bowl of broccolis, apperiod,
and I've got one sticking out of the middle of
my teeth or something.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
I mean, what do you say in the locker room
to a buddy after that, Because let's be totally honest,
if you playing long enough, you don't get dunked on, right,
you're gonna get dunked on.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
What do you mean, how are you gonna get roasted mercilessly?
How is it different from any other time a dude
has been dunked on. You got dunked on by a
white dude.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
With a mullet, and you had that facial expression where
you look like you're getting your back blown out by
Johnny Furfie.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Perfect got hops done as a guy that has been
dunked on before, Grant, I have to go to you.
I mean, once again, it's just like, yeah, I got
dunked on.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
You just move on, right, Yeah, you move on, But
that still shot is gonna be tough to move on.
You know, every one of his buddies is sending that picture, right, do.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
You think his teammates is just going to just kind
of get that and just paste it all around in.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
His locker everywhere he goes that image everywhere you go,
that's gonna be the meme. Like and if something goes wrong,
like people are gonna be sending that facial expression. Oh no,
I mean just oh you got furfeed. He's gonna be
a term. All right.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
This gives a taxi cab in four one seven looked
up the image. Dude looks like he was at a
dinny party. He could have hearsed some baby oil on that.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Oh see, oh see.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
This is the pro and con of social media because
any and any any and.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Everything can actually take place. Nothing is off limits.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Man, like this, this is gonna be like I'm saying,
I saved the photo to use this as a meme
whenever something is like wild not out of pocket, Like
I'm just posting.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
That like hey, hey, hey, hey, they say you don't hey.
All I'm saying is you don't want to get furfeed?
Did you got purfee?
Speaker 2 (08:08):
That's a new verb? You already get this, dude, got
fur feed. I'm just saying you don't want to get
first just got done though.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Really what happened was he fur Fee speaking of somebody
else that's getting hemmed up?
Speaker 2 (08:19):
You boy, cutch On Judkins, Oh man, you've seen this man? Yeah,
you gotta hate that man.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
This is the one thing that bothers you as a
coach in the off season that you want to get
your guys back in the facility to make sure their
minds are right and you're keeping them away from nonsensical things.
When I saw this, I was just like, I was
floored because I like Quishon Jenkins. He was a back
that I would have loved to see in the Broncos uniform.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
But you hate to see something like this.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
For those that don't know cusch On Judkins, that is
off again, on again girlfriend arrived at Fort Lauderdell Airport
on the evening of July. While getting baggage from the
baggage claim area, Judkins told the woman, Oh wow, I
can't believe you.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
I'm so done with you.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
She told police she did not know what Judkins was referencing,
and according to the police report, the two then got
into a rental car, where Judkins started showing frustration with
the victim over text messages. He'd received from his family.
The victim told police she was trying to explain that
the text message weren't true. Then Judkins allegedly punched her
in the mouth with a closed fist. Police said bruising
was visible in a photo the victim took the following
(09:28):
day was still visible when she arrived at the police
station the morning July twelve, five days later. The police
report goes on to detail the victim got in the
backseat of the vehicles the two continued to argue, at
which points Judkins turned around struck her additional times on
the left arm and thigh. Or to the report, police
again said she had visible bruising on her body as
well in pictures she provided to investigators. When asked why
(09:49):
she didn't contact police right away, she said she felt
bad due to Judkins's recent success with his football career
and only decided to file a report after talking with
family and friends and deciding something needed to get done.
Judkins was taking it to custody on July twelfth, charged
with domestic battery, released on twenty five hundred dollars bond
late Sunday afternoon. The Cleveland Browns are aware and gathering
(10:09):
more information, the typical response.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
That they usually do.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Judkins, by the way, is unsigned. He's the only rookie
for the drown draft class that remains unsigned, so that
sort of creates a sticking point with regards to guarantees
and all that kind of stuff because he is unsigned.
So they can't actually take advance any action against him
because he's not a member of the Cleveland Browns yet
he's just they just hold his draft rights.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Well, this is always tough, and you hate to see
situations happen like this. As a father myself, I wouldn't
want my daughter to be in a situation like this,
nor would I want my son to be in a
situation like this as well. But this is an opportunity
where you would hope that kooler heads would have prevailed,
(10:56):
but obviously that's not the case. This is something that
we're going to have to really pay attention to, close
attention to to see how the Cleveland Browns handle the
situation case being because they already have a quarterback in
Deshaun Watson who had his off the field issues. Even
though nothing seemed to have happened to him where he was,
(11:17):
there were criminal charges against him where he spent time,
but you never want this going into the season. Because
Raishon Jenkins is a very talented player. This is going
to be somewhat of a distraction for him and the team.
And you have to figure as a guy who had
signed his contract yet, how is this going to play
out with the team now. I don't think the team
is going to decide say, well, you know what, we
(11:38):
no longer want Cushan Jenkins. No, they're going to find
a way to try to bring him in, have this
discussion and try to go through the process to I guess,
help him work through this entire situation. And I guess
I mean at this particular point, I hope whoever the
young lady is, that she decides that this is not
(11:59):
the relationship that I want to be in and she
doesn't go back to him to kind of be that
partner for him.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Don't don't do that.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Yeah, this is I mean to me, at this point,
if you've got a relationship that's like this, that's want
to get it off again and it's physically abusive at
this point, allegedly you need to This is not the
you too need to separate yourselves, you know. I mean,
if you're in a toxic situation. I can say this
from firsthand experience. If you're in a toxic situation, don't
sit there and try to you know, it gets to
(12:27):
the point, if it's happened a few times, get yourself out,
extricate yourself from that situation that it's not going to
get better.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
It's easy. It's something that's easy to say when that
stuck around a lot longer or not shout. But when
you close.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
To the situation and you feel as though you have
invested time and your emotions are wrapped up into a situation,
sometimes you're not really thinking thoroughly about things that can
go wrong and how they can go bad really fast.
I'm saying that too because I myself was in a
situation that was abusive, but the opposite way, right, because
(13:09):
normally you think, okay, well here's the guy. He's the
football player, you know, and he is a culprit. He
is the villain in this particular situation. But the roles
were reversed, and I like you, like many people, you
think that you can salvage that relationship by showing a
person truly who you are, and it would be able
to you know, see that shining through.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
But hey, man, I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
If it happened once nine times out of ten, it's
gonna happen again. And the best thing you could do
is put your best foot foot forward and get out
of that situation as quickly as possible.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yeah, I don't. Don't.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Don't sit there and have the situation continue to grow
and evolved, excuse me, to the point where, especially as
an athlete and under the microscope like that, where you
can get things taken away from you, be it paychecks,
be at your career, whatever the case may be.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Get your helf out of that situation.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
If it's if you two are toxic together, it's not
going to get better, move on.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
And I know that's easy to say, but I've lived
it too.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
You know.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
It took me a long time.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
It took me longer than it should have to to
extricate myself from the situation.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
But yeah, you, I mean you got to.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
You've got to find a way to pull yourself out
of that and get and get yourself to a better place.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
But yeah, Quinchi Juge's still not signing.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
The only guys He's another one of these second rounders
out there that are they're holding out for guaranteed money,
which is becoming the new norm. First round is just
about now get fully guaranteed deals, and now second rounders like,
we want guaranteed deals too, which makes sense that why
you should just guarantee rookie contracts. Honestly, they're they're dropping
(14:45):
drop dropping the bucket, Sam Brafford, dropping the bucket.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
That's the reason why they don't want to do it. Yeah,
and I know when you look at the second round
draft pick, but Brafford was under the old rules to
do cbas are slotted contracts and it's dropping the bucket money. Well,
once again, it's a drop in the bucket money. Then
when it's not your money right for some of these
to spend the Broncos money to spend the money for
some of these owners, man, they really they have short
(15:11):
arms and deep pockets, right, and they're willing to hold
on too that that money. And they're feeling as though, okay,
well we're guaranteeing a certain amount of the first round
is contract. If we start doing it with the second
round is guess what? Then it's the third round is
and so on and so forth. And I'm like, now
we are knee deep into this situation. We're guaranteed more
money than we want to get guarantee. Remember remember that
(15:33):
collusion case where you know about the guarantee money.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Hey, they're trying to make sure that they don't have
to do that. So good luck. Second round picks.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Yeah, we'll see thirty of thirty two second round picks.
Remain unsigned was Rookieer's report on Wednesday. Now, I will
say that if you're unsigned, they cannot enforce you not
being there as far as that kind of stuff goes
for the Rookie report up until.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
The veteran report date. Then they then they can start
doing that kind of stuff. We got an fol six pack.
We come back Broncos Country Tonight.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Thanks to Nicky Edwards for joining us earlier, Parker Gabriel
as well. You missed any part of either those interviews
or any other part of the show, you go to
Broncos Country Night dot com, slash podcast or where you

redesigned iHeartRadio app where sometimes you can get to Take
for Granted podcast as well one of my favorite podcasts.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
And eighty two episodes out to catch up on just saying.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Maybe, uh, maybe Grant starts like an offshoot podcast that's
like the.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Uh the home improvement.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Podcast, as he has journeys that chronicles his life as
a homeowner.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
It's actually not a bad idea for someone who's not
handy at all and is going to have to learn
how to do off it. Dude, I'm doing like start diary,
like start film ten sponsorships too, Start start, start journling
the stuff that you have to do and then put
that into podcast form.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
And I'm telling you you like sponsor galore, I'm telling
you this is the money maker.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
I expect royalties and residuals. Wish I'm gonna get nothing.
It sounds about right.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
You'll get nothing and you like it. Well, you know
what I'll get. I'll get an NFL six pack.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
How about that?
Speaker 5 (17:04):
It's time for the NFL six pad. I'm gonna train
a lot of beer, insight and inside information you can't
find anywhere else. I know six the top six NFL headlines.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
What several big name free agents remain without a home
for twenty twenty five is training camps approached a couple
of former.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Broncos as well. Justin Simmons and von Miller being one
of those.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
He ed.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Rusher, the Bills cut back on March ninth, said this
summer he wants to continue his career. NFL network's Brian Baldinger,
who played college football with Miller's agent, said Jobby Brandon
told him Miller has three very interested teams.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Brandian did not name the teams. According to Baldinger, same quote,
I think Vaughn.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Feels like there's a pretty good chance he's gotta sign
some point either before camp. I mean, I don't think
Vonn's too crazy by going to training camp, Baldinger told
the d MVR Broncos podcast.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Most guys that age aren't they know what they need
to do.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
He looks in great shape, so I would say he's
gonna get signed here relatively soon. The Bills saved eight
point four million in salary cap space by cutting Miller,
who signed a six year, one hundred and twenty million
dollars deal before the twenty twenty two season. In three
seasons in Buffalo, Miller played thirty six of a possible
fifty games total fourteen sacks, forty one tackles.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Twenty three quarterback hits.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Miller is an eight time Pro bowler, two times Super
Bowl champion. They team you guys would like to see
Von Miller go to? Any team you would not like
to see Von Miller go to?
Speaker 3 (18:30):
All right, this day's career, I would say within a division,
Kansas City, the Raiders being the biggest of the teams
that well Von could possibly land with. I mean, Miami
could be one of those teams. I mean I can
even see the Jets. But once again, we're still talking
(18:52):
about those teams that I just named being in predicament
where guys are injured, and let's.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Be totally honest.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
I mean one is had a Hall of Fame career
at this stage of the game.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Now you're only.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
Asking him to come into spot duty and just be
like a third down pass rush.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Well, I have heard that one of those three teams
that was Cowboys is the Detroit Lions, Okay, where he
would be a rotational edge rusher with Marcus Davenport Aden
Hutchinson could come in and either back up either one
and come in and be pass rush specialist in certain situations.
(19:28):
Do do you think the Detroit Lions as a home
for von Miller the season?
Speaker 4 (19:32):
I think that's a great fast. If he wants to
go to a winner, that's perfect.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
The Lions have forty point one million dollars in effective
cap space right now and the ability to make that
happen as well.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
When does Hutchinson come back? Yeah, let me back. He's
back to season. And then Marcus Davenport's on the other side.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
That Davenport can be moved out and pass rush situations,
and von can come in and he can kind of
rotate and spell those two as well. I think putting
him in a best possible situation. I did hear the
the Raiders were interested, although I'm not sure how interested
Vaughn would be in them.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Well, Detroit could be a great place and he won't
have to worry about taking the Lion's share of the reps.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
So look at this, Margaret the pun.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
We've got him on board too. Oh my goodness, I
love it. I absolutely love it. Let's see what we
got here.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
The Jets and Garrett Wilson agreed to a four year
contract extension. Derek Moujie, the general manager there the New
York has agreed to a four year extension. The numbers
indicate the deals worth one hundred and thirty million ninety
million guaranteed. Wilson was the number ten overre all pick
in the twenty twenty two drafts. He has already signed
through twenty twenty six, and Jets picked up his fifth
year option in the spring. My having finished his third
(20:40):
year and twenty twenty four, was eligible for a second contract.
Now he has one. He's eclipsed a thousand yards receiving
each of his three seasons, despite subpart quarterback play and
frankly terrible offenses, played all.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
Fifty one games for which he's been eligible.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Career highs and receptions receiving a touchdowns last season two
hundred and seventy nine passes, two forty nine yards, fourteen
touchdow through three seasons. It was the twenty twenty two
AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. His teammate cornerback Sauce
Gardner with a corresponding defensive word number four overall pick
of the same draft. Gardner eligible for a contract extension.
(21:13):
It looks like his deal get done sooner than later.
But when do we think about Garrett Wilson getting that
big money deal right there?
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Now?
Speaker 1 (21:19):
I love this because early on, if you get this
early on, these numbers are going to be minuscule by
the time they even kick in and he gets his
cash right now. The only real problem you have about
this is maybe he starts holding out once he gets
into that portion of the contract, wanting to be top
back off.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Well, the way I look at it, that the Jeff
was trying to get ahead of the curb because when
you look at some of the star offensive players that
they have, he is definitely one of those players you
want to make sure that you have those types of weapons,
you know, under long term contracts. Once again, we don't
know how this quarterback situation is.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Going to work out, and this way you put you.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Know, Garrett Wilson in his camp in a position where
you're here for We've given you your money, so you're
not gonna go anywhere else. But the only problem that
I may have with is it may have been a
little premature. Maybe they could have waited to see how
this season works out. And once again, who's gonna be
your quarterback? Because we've know if guys are not happy
about where they are, like Juwan Jennings, they went out and.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
We'll get to Juwan Jennings in a moment.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
Really, but yes, justin fields as your quarterback. Probably means
you're hoping that Torod Taylor takes over suit it later.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
If you're Garrett Wilson, Wow.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
And he's had horrible quarterbacks this whole time there, so
he's used to it.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yeah, but they downgraded this year. Yeah, they went from
Aaron Rodgers to Justin Field.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
He's happy because he knows his numbers are not going
to be the way that they might have been a
year's past.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
So get your money now, Yeah, I mean, feric, get
it lucked in.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
There is Sauce Gardner going to be paid more than
PS two?
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Yes, my nature of that's the next contract up.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
Todd goes three.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
NCAA and it's number of institutions have a mess thanks
to decades of corruption that prevented athletes from making money
directly or indirectly. And they could it up on their own,
or they could run to Congress. For now they're running
to Congress. The American pro sports unions have aligned asked
Congress not to give the NCAA at its members what
they want, an anti trust exemption that would allow them
(23:13):
to impose rules regarding matters like payer play and movement.
Since many of today's college athletes will become our future members.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
We have a vested interest in ensuring they are protected now.
So the union's at a statement.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
The NCAA and its members should be expected to solve
this problem on their own without an anti trust exemption
from the federal government.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Congress should not give them a hail Mary.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
They should be required to invite unionization to deal with
players on a level playing field.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
But they are trying it anyway. What do you think.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
About all the unions unifying to say, hey, we don't
give the NCAA this anti trust exemption and allowing them
to have all the leverage and negotiating with athletes on pay.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Yeah, NCAA has done a poor job over the years
handling a lot of this. This is why we find
ourselves in this big Nio kind of conundrum.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
And for me, I've always thought.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
That players should get paid, and they should it should
be a union. And when you think about unions, it
terrifies people because that's the possibility of a labor strike
and we've seen it for years. If you don't have
a union, someone's going to take advantage of it, right,
And that's the biggest thing. Someone's gonna always take advantage
of and that's what the NCAA has done for so
(24:26):
many years.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
So I'm one for union.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Yeah, I just there's no need for an anti trust
examption in this particular case.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
The NCAA needs to figure this out.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
They need to figure it out on their own and
get this done in a way that's equitable for all
the players that are that are making this now. For
Nick Saban's Alabamaton here came to an end last ball
season of the seven time National Championship head coach elects
to retire, but one of Saban's former assistance thanks these
seventy three year old Saban will make his way back
to a sideline at some point. Speaking to reporters at
(24:57):
SEC Media Days on Monday, current Ole Miss head coach
Sane Kiffin was asked if he would hire Sabin if
his former boss wanted back in the game. Kiffin said,
he's not going to need me to hire him. This
was to Sam Hutchins of the Mississippi Clarion Ledger. I
don't think he's done. I think he'll be back, whether
it's college or the NFL. I think he'll be back.
Kiffen worked under Sabin at Alabama from twenty fourteen twenty
(25:18):
sixteen is the program's offensive coordinator at quarterbacks coach. The
two won a national championship together to cap the twenty
fifteen season. Saban was famously the Dolphins head coach in
five oh six before taking the Alabama job. His other
NFL experience comes as the Houston Oilers DB's coach back
in eighty eight and eighty nine, the Browns defensive coordator
uner Bill Belichick from ninety one to ninety four. Kiffen
(25:39):
was the Raiders coach for most seven oht eight, lasting
just four games into his second season before he was fired.
Do you guys think that Nick Saban will get back
into coaching, either at the collegiate or NFL level.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
I think there is a strong possibility. There's a strong
draw for him to coach. The only thing that changes
it if he feels as though he's satisfied and that
those paychecks coming through isp in, you know.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Continue to be the twenty four hour sports network that
digit than he may not.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
But idea of him possibly joining Lane Kiffin on the
sideline as some kind of special advisor, I don't see
that happening because if you're at Ole Miss and eul
Lane Kiffin and you're not having a great season.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
It makes it really interesting.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
And easy for the institution and go you know what,
oughn't you just go ahead and kick rock Saban, why
don't you feel in.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
See, I don't think he'll come back to the collegiate level.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
I think the NIL has taken away the advantage that
he had before.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
And I don't think he's coming back to college football.
I could see him going to the.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Pros as a defensive coordinator or something like that, trying
to get a you know, a Super Bowl ring or.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Something like that to top off the legacy. But I
can't see him coming back to college football.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
I mean, if he really misses the game though, and
I agree with you about the NIL deal, I don't
think he'll go back as a head coach. But maybe
he'll just miss the game so much that he wants
to be there to teach the kids to play. As
a defensive coordinator or whatever it may be. You gott
to join Belichick staff at North Carolina.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
Possibility, But I see Nick Saban if he goes back
to the pro was more of a consultant. That's more
of an easy killed job for him.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
I can see him wanting to, you know, the iron
scepter on the sideline make him grown men cry.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
No, Nick sabd bumped. We're down at the Senior Bowl.
I don't know, he said, eight ten years ago, and.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Somebody caught a pass on the sideline right where I
was standing. Nick Sable was observing practice. Knocked me over,
and Nick Saban reached a hand down and picked me up.
And I think I instantly committed my firstborn son to
playing at Alabama.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Five talked about Juwan Jennings earlier. Jenning's what's a contract
extension or a trade?
Speaker 1 (27:36):
But if neither happens by next week, he said, he
is expected.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
To report to training camp.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Per Matt Barrows of the Athletic, Jennings schedule to make
seven and a half million this season. He's in the
final year of a two year extension he signed in
twenty twenty four. As the team's number three receiver then
behind Brandon Ayuk and Diebo Samuel, Jennings led the Niners
receivers the career high seventy seven catches, nine hundred and
seventy five yards six touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Debo is now with the commanders.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
And working his way back from aclfcl terror and his
knee the head last October, DeMarcus Robinson, a free agent
si Inee, faces a three game suspension if completing no contest.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
To a dy charge.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Brandon Ayuk is injured and I'm probably going to start
the season on the poppet miss at least four and
probably more like six weeks to start the season. Ricky
Piersall is the first round pick in twenty twenty four,
Jacob Cowing and rookie Jordan Watkins or the other receivers
on the roster. I Ape didn't hold out of camp
last year as he saw a new contract. He held
in not participating in practice. Signed a four year, one
(28:34):
hundred and twenty million extension with seventy six million guarantees
last August twenty ninth. What do you guys think about
Juwan Jennings. Does he get a contract or does he
get dealt on that perilously thin receiving cor the Niners
now have.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
I think he plays this contract out because right now
he's shooting his shot. Like you said, no, Deevo Samuel
George Kittle was the team's leading receiver at the tight
end position, and you think about Ricky Pearsall, who's going
into his second season. So this is an excellent time
for Juan Jennings. That flex is muscle, But there's some
(29:05):
tough negotiators with John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan, don't I
don't think this he gets the money that he deserves.
The idea, you have a deal, you play it out,
then we go from there.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Yeah. I mean, just based on that roster, I don't
think the Niners are going to trade him unless they're
getting a receiver back somehow. And as far as a
contract extension, they're a little bit boxed in based on
the Rock Party deal. You know, in terms of what
they can actually offer they it would have to be
an incredibly front loaded deal this year because start next
(29:35):
year things get real tight around there. So just gonna
be a fascinating situation to watch. Six tast one is
shaking up its weekday line up and that's going to
infect Joy Taylor and six former NFL players and a
March hand of the Athletic reports that Breakfast Ball, The
Facility and Speak.
Speaker 5 (29:52):
Are no more.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Those shows featured Keyshawn Johnson, Mark Shlera, The Acho Chase Daniel,
James Jones, Lashaw McCoy, and of course Joy Taylor. Isolations
happened per March hand because the show struggled to find
a huge audience. The rest of the weekday lineup featuring
The Herd, Colin Coward and First Things First.
Speaker 5 (30:09):
Will remain.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
FS one is expected to develop three new shows to
replace the three that were canceled. Did you watch any
of those shows? Are you going to miss any of
those personalities?
Speaker 2 (30:19):
No? No, and hell no.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
I was as shocked as you all to find out
the Chase Daniel is still securing the bag.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
The backup quarterback gigs are gone.
Speaker 5 (30:30):
He's over here in media.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
No, you know, I'll say this, No, I've never watched
a lot of those shows, but obviously on social media
you get a lot of repeat of some of the
things that happened on the show.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
And as you know, I got a cousin living.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
To see and he will watch those shows and he
will call me and tell me about the ridiculousness that
happens on those shows. So I guess I kind of
got it third party style. But this tells you a
lot about the sports media and what Fox is gonna
have to do because it's not only one show. You're
talking about three shows. That's ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
That's a big mix up right there. Yeah, that's gunning
your lineup, that's rebooting. I never watched any of those shows.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
I don't really watch a lot of those type shows
ESPN and Fox whatever.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
I can't watch those shows, like I mean, working in
this industry, I just can't because I know you can
see a lot of the hot takeery happen in real time,
and you can you can see, you know that they
don't believe some of the.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Things that they're saying.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
In an effort to go viral and get more attention
to more and more eyeballs on it, and you know
that they're not giving honest analysis sometimes and it's just
it's bothersome like we you know, like when when Ryan
and I started the show and you and I started
doing the show, this is something we've always all of
us have been committed to.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Is like, we're never gonna do that.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Like sometimes I'll be funny for you know, I'll be
sarcasting for effect to be funny, but there's no point
in here where I'm going to say something that I
don't actually believe in an effort to try to go
viral and gin up ratings or clicks or whatever.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
You know what, it's breaking news.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
See over there, Oh it's breaking news.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
The Big Dumper cow Rawley, you're home run derby champion
of twenty twenty five. That was who you were. You
were pulling for it just for the nickname. Yeah, big dumper.
Speaker 4 (32:13):
His dad was pitching to him and his brother was catching.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
That's a that's a great story. And I was talking
about this. His dad looked like he was uh, his
dad colloged him in the elbow.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
Yeah, gotta charge the mouth.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
Had he lost this, they would have been a discussion
on a car ride. It's a family friction. Yeah, I
think get that because don't you get some cash out
of this? Don't you get some cash some money? Yeah wait,
I know you get that giant chain you know or whatever.
But yeah, you get you get the bling. But I
didn't know if that. Yeah, like dad, his.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Dad gets spiffed on this. His dad get a bonus
for for you know, for pitching this thing. Just does
brother get a bonus for catching it?
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Oh? Heang.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
Younger brother gets a lot of cloud though, Yeah, he
gets a lot of cloud in school for this.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
I'm just saying yes, Broncos Country back after this weeking
over here in count two. If you need to work
to run right, if you didn't work around, you're looking
at right Nackleman all blight three three two. Let's me
working around, yeah,
