Speaker 1 (00:00):
Moronuntil noon today. Ryan Edwards along with Nick Ferguson great
stuff from Ryan Harris. Just a little bit ago. Rick
lewis color analyst for your Denver Broncos is going to
join us at ten to thirty, so stick around for that,
and again we'll have all sorts of insights from practice
as it happens. Again, practice about to start here at
ten o'clock. Players are all filing in, They're all getting

(00:20):
warmed up out there. This is the part where Nick says,
this is the this is the easy stuff, This is
all the easy practice. But these guys are working up
quite the sweat out there. So I don't know, man,
I think it's you're just gonna sell it a little
short there. But we'll make sure you know. I time
next time we talked to a player, we'll say that
you think it's easy, so and I would.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Tell them too, it's easy.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
You say I'm selling it short, you're selling that long
like okay, Wow, I mean they're working up a sweat.
Look look at the prespiration. They in need of high
quality ees too. Oh no they're not.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
They're just standing around.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Did you say perspiration? Yes, can that's that's not the
word it's perspiration.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
I knew you were going to correct me. That's why
I said that, Yes, give you a little layup right there.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
It was nice of you.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Yeah, what a type of guy.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
I know.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I don't what if I did correct you, they can
be like Ryan, you know that's not the word right.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Well, we'll see then I would get on you then obviously,
Well are you.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
Listening to me?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
I am.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
I'm always listening, thank you, Yes, very intently. Unlike all Right,
he doesn't listen. He's usually looking at his phone. Can't
push back upaut Kenty push back about can't williams Ben.
Hopefully you'll have been out here with us on Saturday
five six six nine zero. If you want to keep
sending us questions on our KWA Commispare health text line,

(01:35):
we have a bunch from the first hour. We will
get to those coming up here. So if you said
a question in a little bit earlier, we we will
absolutely get to those here just a little bit. But
we're gonna have to Moni Leech, president of that dever
Broncos joining us in just a matter of moments. He's
walking over right now to give us the latest on
the stadium. Give us the latest on the practice facility
and all those things. What's up, Demani? Oh look at you?

(01:58):
Oh you're doing Anthony Rod gonna post social stuff.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
They got the fancy mic guy.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
I know, look at Anthony. Anthony doesn't doesn't miss what's
up to? Money doing it?

Speaker 5 (02:06):
Man, We're doing good to see what's going on.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I love that shirt? Thank you, thank you, thank you.
The throwback. The throwback never gets old, you know. On
heavy rotation.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
They do have a store at the stadium. Wore you
can go hand and purchase one of those fine T shirts.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
I have one of those.

Speaker 6 (02:24):
Yeah, yeah, no, Kenny, Yes, we've got to pop up
merch shop in the in the parking lot over there.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
If you want to run over and check that out.
Good on you. By the way, not to wear the
same shirt, because that would have been interesting, you know,
sitting here today, who wore it better? I don't want
That's what I'm saying. I don't want to, Yes, I
don't want that, not at all. Man. We're really excited
to see you here. We obviously excited for another Broncos
training camp. It's it's already been really great. The facility
out here coming along. How you guys feeling about it. It

(02:50):
feels great about it. It's it's it's fun for me.
My office looks out over it, so I get to
see it every day. Incremental, small steps. But I love
coming out you guys.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
Having the reaction, the fans having the reaction.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Of like, oh man, that's really big, and it is.
It feels bigger.

Speaker 6 (03:03):
I mean, it's thirty percent bigger than what we have now,
but it looks a lot bigger than that. So it's
just exciting to see it come along. There's the construction crews,
like over one hundred people working every day sun up
the sundown. It is amazing to see they work that
they do. I love just watching the cranes, you know,
a little bit therapeutic when you're on a zoom call

(03:24):
you're just looking out the window watching these guys work,
moving dirt.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
It's fun.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
You know. I was talking to Ms Pinner yesterday.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
I'm talking about this behemo of a new facility that
we're talking about.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Now.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
I know, I watch you and Jesson Nading walk out
and just kind of survey the pack practice field.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
But do you know exactly where your office is going
to be?

Speaker 6 (03:42):
I do exactly I do them right there on the
corner on the third floor in the corner.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yeah, that's kind of an eagle eyes view on everything.
And I told her that this yesterday. You guys done
have done a hell of a job where the facilities
and making sure the alumni are involved. The one thing
that I loved last season bringing back the throwback jerseys.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
A lot of the fans would like to see that,
see that more.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
I mean, how many times this season will you guys
weather those here to form?

Speaker 6 (04:09):
Yeah, so we'll release our full schedule, uniform schedule here
in a few weeks.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
But you know, I inadvertently broke some.

Speaker 6 (04:16):
News at the league meeting that we have the ability
to wear them more often. So you can expect us
to be wearing them more often. So so hopefully as
many as three times.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Great throwbacks they play, Yeah, they play, they play really well.
See me wearing my throwback polo. I love it. It's
really sharp. Now, just back to the facility out here
for a moment. A timeline on this. I heard that
this part should be done by next year. What does
that mean for the fans of next year's training camp?
How are things going to be looking at? Yeah, you're right.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
So the key marker dates early August is topping out.
That's the highest beam of the facility going in. Is
sort of a celebration for the construction crew of that
major phase being done. It'll be fully enclosed by November,
so one that'll that'll protect everybody.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
From the winter weather.

Speaker 6 (05:00):
They'll be able to do all the interior work, wiring, painting, walls,
all of that stuff will happen over the course of
the spring, and then by May everybody moving into the
new facility, and then we'll figure out what we're doing there.
I think, just as we saw last summer, ownership's commitment
to having fans somehow, some way safely and comfortably at
training camp was our director for this year. That'll be

(05:22):
the directive for next year, and we'll figure that out.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
You know, the money I have to bring you to
a conversation that Ryan and I were having before you
jumped on, and it was a fact of DB's and
the idea that offensive lineman holds all the time, like all.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Defensive guys think that way.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
As a guy that played dB at prison, do you
feel the same way that sometimes those offensive.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Linemen leading witness here.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Let me ask my question have a tendency to be
a little handsy at times.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
I think so.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
And I was, you know, a very slow short dB
and I prided myself on not being and just you know,
playing the receivers. True, And it's already like one dvs
are the best athletes on the field. We've got to
run backwards. We don't know what's happening. They have the
full field to move through, you know, like they can
go anywhere, and we got to cover them.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Like did you get all of that, big Ryan?

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Obviously best athletes in the field. That's why you're paid
like it, you know, wide receivers not making all you know,
that great of money. Uh, you know they would, they
would have a thing to say about best athletes on
the field if you're asking Justin Jefferson or Jamar Chase.
But I'm just saying we're not asking.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Them, we're asking the money leads. He laid it out
for you. You just have to be willing to accept what
he just told you.

Speaker 6 (06:36):
I love I love practice and watching particularly in individual drills,
watching PS two. I mean, his length, his feet just amazing.
It's it's fun to watch he is.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
And I imagine the same thing for you just as
a dB watching a guy that obviously defensive Player of
the Year, but just I'm watching the technician out there
and the athleticism. It's one thing to have all those
traits coming out of college, but then to to apply
them to the NFL. I mean, it doesn't always happen
for everybody that way, does it.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
No, No, he's he's amazing. He's won on one. It's
so much fun to watch him. I'm excited again as
a as an old dB, I'm fun to watch. Excited
to watch our defensive backfield this year. The guys we're
bringing back Riley ps two, but then the new players
coming in huff judd a.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah, I'm excited. Hey, Jay Johnny for a second here,
because he's going to be tasked with lots like he's
learning to play inside, learning to play outside. Just maybe
for a moment as a former dB, just the challenges,
and I'd love to get your perspective on this too,
the challenges of kind of moving inside and outside and
what your your eyes, because I know that's a big

(07:39):
thing for DB's what you have to be watching.

Speaker 6 (07:41):
I think inside is the hardest right. You don't have
the boundary as almost an additional defender. So that receiver,
that slot receiver that Brandon Stokely is coming at you.
He can go wherever he wants to go, and you
got to be athletic enough to cover him.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
It's that's tough.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
You know what, when you think about the history of
this team, it's you guys are doing a great job
of just kind of making the team an organization relevant again.
And the indicator of that is the number of national
televised games.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Now, when you.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Saw that list come out, I mean, you guys are
going to London to play the Jets. I mean, how
does that help restore what was here when you guys
first walked in.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
Having so many games on television.

Speaker 6 (08:18):
Yeah, it's not our goal, but it is. It is nice,
and you appreciate it and what it signals, which is
how you're performing and the reception that it has nationally
and what people think, the networks think you're going to
bring in terms of a national TV audience is Yeah.
You can't help but not be excited about it. It's
not our goal. The goal is to win games and
those things come as a result of it. But you're

(08:39):
not driving for that last couple here, for you really
appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
You know, I have to ask you. I know you
were peppered with a few questions about it over there
with the media, a lot of rumors flying around the
summer about the stadium and what's going to be the
future of it. If you don't mind just giving us
an update on that.

Speaker 6 (08:53):
Yeah, sure, there's certainly been a lot of interest, a
lot of articles and tweets and whatnot, and it's been
interesting for me.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
I like to read it.

Speaker 6 (09:01):
I like to read and hear the reactions to it
from fans and whatnot. That being said, like, we've been
pretty consistent, like this is a long, comprehensive process that
we're going through. We've had great collaboration at a city
and state level as we explore it. But we're trying
to do our due diligence. We're not trying to rush,
you know. We talk about being quick but not hurrying

(09:23):
on it because it is a thirty forty to fifty
year decision. So we're still in the middle of it,
but excited about the progress.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
We've made and still a long way to go though.
What do you guys weigh out when you're thinking about
the future of the stadium, Like What are the things
that are going to be important to you, to important
to this organization.

Speaker 6 (09:40):
Yeah, I mean, I think first and foremost it starts
with football. What's the best football facility that we can have?
And that's everything from the surface and the locker rooms
and the team facilities.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
What do we think we need? Where's the league heading?

Speaker 6 (09:53):
I think the biggest part of this is understanding that
this isn't about the next five years, it's the next thirty,
forty to fifty. Where are things How do we make
sure we're providing a great experience for our players, but
then also our fans. What do they need? What do
they need now? What do we think our fans are
going to want and need in the next two decades.
We've seen over the last two decades how things have

(10:13):
changed and what fans value and what they find important
in terms of the types of seeding, the level of
premium food and beverage, all.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Of those things.

Speaker 6 (10:22):
What they like to do before and after games, what
is tailgating anymore? All of those things are taken into
account when you think about what your future should be really.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Quickly, what does it mean for you being president of
the Denver Broncos knowing as though you don't have to
worry about that turnstile as a quarterback position anymore because
now you've had your guy.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
In the future.

Speaker 6 (10:41):
It's so amazing, like it feels. It feels great for me,
but I'm also a relatively new guy. This is, you know,
year three for me going into season four. But it's great.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
You know.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
You hear people talk.

Speaker 6 (10:52):
About it around the league like the keys, the pillar,
keys to success, ownership, coach and quarterback. You need those things,
and I feel really excited about what we have in
those three areas.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Demani really appreciate it, man it We love being out here.
Thank you so much for the time you guys. Good
to see you too. To get that shirt, man, yeah, fire,
absolutely fire. They got one outside they dot's will get
off and doing. I'm I'm over there already. I already
have mine, all right, Yeah, I dig it. Appreciate you, man,
Thank you so much. President of dever Broncos Demani leads,
thanks you, Patrick, appreciate it man five six six nine

(11:25):
Zeros or Kae Commaspird I'll text line if you want
to react to that. Talked a little about the stadium
there and I think that he perfectly said it right there.
I mean, you're just thinking about how you have to
weigh everything out, and you know, the one thing that
you understand and appreciate is is they'll announced something when
they ultimately can, right, and up until that moment, they're
still in an empower field a mile high. They continue
to make upgrades to that stadium. Right. It's not like

(11:47):
they're just kind of letting that thing go and then,
you know, giving giving themselves a reason to move. They're
continuing to pour money into that stadium to keep it upgraded,
and then you know, the situation will play itself out.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Well, this is one of those conversations that is going
to linger until decision is actually made. And once again,
I mean, it keeps the team relevant because now you're
talking about something that the team could do that will
not only affect the organization, the players, and the surrounding
community itself. So that's going to be one of those
things that constantly come up.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
But here's what we do know.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
The ownership has enough money to build a stadium wherever
they want to build it, and you can sign me
up definitely for that. But it was great having the
money come on talk about that. But The other big
thing is about the uniforms. And he said that he
let the cat out of the bag, that the teams
that they were going to wear the uniforms more times
this year than they did last year. And to me,
I never got a chance to play in those uniforms.

(12:45):
So I'm a little bit envious of today's players because
they're going to get a chance to do it.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
But that doesn't necessarily mean that I can't buy one.
I could try to buy one.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
But it's a great time to be here in different Colorado,
is a great to be one of these players. As
they now are going through special teams drill where guess what, Ryan,
they are now.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Officially working up a sweat. Yes, we're gonna have.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
A sweat, an sweat, Yes, sweat swet TI tight on
a Saturday morning sweat time.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
Yes, it drip off your face, Zach.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
I'm gonna need you to pull that for me. That's
gonna be my ring tone when he calls me. Just
just that. By the way, do when you get the jersey,
the new the new Broncos jersey, do you get ferguson?
Do you like print it with your name and your
number on it?

Speaker 4 (13:39):
I'm not getting Big Ryan on it. Of course I'm
getting my name on it.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
I don't know you like a boat X jersey. You
could be like, I'm gonna get number ten.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
No no, no, no no no. If I'm a PS two,
if I already have one of those, okay, yeah, yeah,
have one of those already.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
But my dave, I'm going to get a throwback jersey,
which which I am. I want one with my name
on it because I was a privilege to play in
that uniform. It's just something classic about that uniform. And
it's funny because some fans love those uniforms and when
they transition to the ones that we see the guys

(14:13):
playing now and that I played in, they were a
little upset, right because they didn't want to change. But
some fans were happy because they just remember those throwback uniforms.
Even though those teams were good. You got the Orange crush.
But John Elway didn't win a lot of Super Bowls.
He won Super Bowls in the new uniforms. So that
dynamic when you talk to fans is very.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Interesting, no doubt about it. All right, five six six
nine zero. I want to get back to these questions
that we had coming in earlier. One little update here.
Mike McGlinchey is out here. He had a ball cap
and a sleeve on his legs, so he is not
practicing today. Coach Payton yesterday did tell us that he'd
be back out here, but he said more like, you know,
maybe today, possibly by Monday when they put the pads on,

(14:56):
but at least he's back out here. That was a
little bit of a concern moment because we didn't get
to see him in practice on Thursday, and then yesterday
he wasn't even out here altogether, and so oftentimes it's like, okay,
well wait a minute. I mean, even at Perry is
standing out here and he's on the pup. What's going
on with Mike McGlinchey. He's out here today, he's observing practice.
Just a little up sick.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Well, I mean during my day there was such thing
as a vet day. When you are a proving guy
and you know you'll lose sore or whatever, we don't
really need to see what you can do. This provides
another opportunity for that guy who is second or third
in that depth shop to get more reptis because once
we get this thing ramped up a lot of those
reps are going to be decreased. And once again I

(15:37):
go back to this, with having only one official practice,
it makes it really difficult so for those younger players
to develop and for you to see.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
What they can do.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
As you said in the depth shot, we're doing a
little high red zone right in front of us. This
is pretty cool getting a chance to sort of watch
the practice here, the first team offense versus first team defense,
little high red zone kind of what more up temple walkthrough?
Not a lot, but I'm just saying that they're still
breaking a sweat.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
What can I talk about and what I can't because
I want to.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Make sure I stay in compliance because my eyes see a.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Lot of things.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Sure, No, it's a good question. It's a good question.
You can't talk about formations. You can't talk about where
guys are lining up. So for example, we talked about
Johnny Barron. You can't specifically say, oh, he's lining up
peer type thing.

Speaker 4 (16:22):
So basically I can't talk about practice.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Well, no, you can talk about a lot of things
to say, Hey, Bonux just completed a pass to Courland
Sudden in the corner of the end zone. Hey, it
was a beautiful past.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
That sounds offensively.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
I mean, hey, Johnny barn just broke up a pass.
How that was really nice? What do you want? What
are you to say? I'm just saying you can't. You
can't do formations, you can't do tendencies. That's that's okay,
that's the rule. Well listen, you know people blur that
line all the time. I saw media members tweeting out
things yesterday that that are probably on the cusp of that.
So you nick ferguson a vet, I'd say, you know,

(16:56):
be like Benjamin Albright, ask for forgiveness.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
No, no, hell no, I never want to live in
that world. You know. That's not staying in compliance. I'm
telling you, you get kicked out of places. This is
a place I want to stay involved in, connected with it.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
Right.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
So I'm not going to take a page out of
Benjamin al bright book, but I will say this, and
let me take a shot out of it. There's some
guys running around in white jerseys and orange jerseys.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
There you go, nailed it. Yeah, there you go, nailed it.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
Yes, there it is.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
You could even say the defense is in orange jerseys
and the offense is white jerseys. You do that.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
It was a guy who had on a white jersey
who just happened to run an end zone and the
fans went, yay, how about that?

Speaker 4 (17:36):
Does that work?

Speaker 1 (17:37):
You can yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
I didn't give a number. I didn't give a formation.
I didn't give anything.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
The reports of Riley Moss's demise as far as the
Jade Baron draft pick and how it means they don't
love Riley Moss, that has grossly been over exaggerated. Riley
Moss is still a major factor.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
I can say that, Well, you know what, man, I've
heard that narrative and for me, I don't believe in it.
It's a false narrative because idea is that you want
to develop your team and you want to get better
and you have to add depth. And the issues last
season was when Riley got injured, the defense suffered.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
Go back to that Cleveland game what Jerry Judy was
able to do to.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Levi Wallace and it wasn't all Levi's fault, but that's
what happens when one of the cogs in the will
is not in place. But now having Riley back being healthy,
and I don't have everyone to remember remember Riley had
that what was it something? Appendix or something that he
was dealing with, so he wasn't really truly himself. So
this would be Raleigh's official second year even though he's

(18:40):
a third year player. But adding guys in that secondary
that interchangeable, It is so valuable.

Speaker 4 (18:45):
And I said it before, it's going to give advance.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Joseph a number of different things that he can use
this season as he opens that toolbox and said, well,
put my face in this week, I got let's see,
we got Jalen Hurts and and the Philadelphia Eagles. How
do I want to slow down this offense? So for me,
I like what I'm seeing thus far, but it's still
a lot to build off.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
All right, A couple questions here on our kaikomisper Hill
text line five six six nine zero will be on
till noon today. Rickl is going to join us around
ten thirty this one. Hey guys, thanks for being there.
Why the bleachers? And is Sudden going to get a
new deal? That's from Doug in Norcaw.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Well, it's that's not something that has been talked about
a lot here within the team as far as a contract,
and usually guys are holding out or holding in.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
That's kind of a new thing. Colin's not doing anything
of the sort he's reporting.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
He's here, he's practicing, he's working out with his teammates,
and to me, that's what teams want to see.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
Well, what's your love of dedication? Now?

Speaker 3 (19:45):
Does that mean that would translate into extra dollars for Coling? No,
but we know that he is an elder statesman in
that wide receiver room and a lot of bo Nick's
success last season we saw, but this year too is
going to hand on that relationship between he and Cortland
starting to build. But for Courtland, I'm sure you're thinking, man,
I'm gonna go out there and I'm just gonna play.

(20:06):
So whether it's here for the Denver Broncos or somewhere else,
to me, I just want to make sure that I
keep fine tuning my skill set as a wide receiver.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Devon Bailey just kind of touchdown. Do you want to
say that?

Speaker 4 (20:18):
Why?

Speaker 3 (20:18):
Why would I repeat what you just said? I mean,
how many ways can I.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Say, I'm just trying to help you.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
No, a guy with a white jersey on and the
cap on his head, the protective cap, just ran into
an end up.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
That's the kind of analysis people are doing. Good for
you have there other stations in town. I think to
do the same analysis. I just want to make sure
that we're here.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
I know they are. No, they're not, they're not.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
But I want to make sure that I am in
complaints and I'm not giving anything away because my football
trained eyes. Sometimes my eyes and my mouth don't catch
up because my my eyes see it, my mouth wants
smit it out, and and I don't want something to
come out of my mouth that.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
Has a two of getting me in trouble or you
in trouble.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Oh, I'm fine, I'll deflect it all on you. No
problem with that.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
Well, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
That is something that you do anyway, deflect and say,
hey it was Nick Ferguson fault.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
But let me start by saying this. I like what
I'm saying right now.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
And this is the teaching part of practice, where you
may have rescriptive things that you want to go through
and you kind of do it in a competitive way,
not combative, where every guy knows exactly where.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
They need to be on the field.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
So once you get deeper in practice, now when it's
full of speed, we want to make sure that everyone's
lined up and no one's making any mistake.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
So I like the way that they are approaching.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Here perfectly said, yes, I do too. Another question here
they always say, this is from Lance, you can They
always say you can never have too many pass rushers.
The same thing goes with cornerbacks in this past happy league,
adding more versatility and grit to the secondary as a
sneaky move by the law firm of Peyton and Peyton.
Plus you get a top ten player in extreme value

(22:02):
talking about Jade Baron.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
Agree, Yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Totally agree, you know, because that's what it's about. Because
the one thing that we all know about this game,
knock on wood, injuries are going to happen. We're starting
to see them and we're only a couple of days
in a camp around the league.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
But guys get injured.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
So when guys go go down, well, who can you
plug and play and be ready to go? And this
is where George Payton and his scouting staff did a
great job in the offseason with some of the acquisitions
of free agency in the draft, but more importantly when
it comes to the regular season. I mean, we don't
see the scouts out here right now, but I can
tell you they have you know a number of guys

(22:41):
on their board say, Okay, if we had a guy
go down, what other team can we go to and
try to pluck a player that plays in a similar
system or plays with the same type of offensive mentality
or defensive mentality that we want. All of those things
are really key. So I liked I like the depth.
The depth is going to be tested once we get

(23:01):
into the season. But like the Texas said, when you
look at depth, you want to make sure that you
have a multitude of ed rushers because.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
We know this is this is a passing league and
you have to be.

Speaker 3 (23:15):
Able to disrupt what the quarterback needs to do.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
Another question here on the KA comm Spirit Health text
line five six six nine zero again, Rick lewis going
to join us here around ten thirty Ryan Edwards Nick
ferguson how is Drew Sanders looking. I'm hoping he is
linebacker two this year paired with green Law. Well, Alex
Singleton is practicing, so as we sit here today, my
answer would be Alex Singleton is linebacker too. Now you

(23:40):
get down close to cut down if they're seeing enough
from Drew Sanders where they feel as though maybe he
would be LB two next to Drake green Law with
Justice ir Nod. Maybe Lovell Bailey as you're third and four,
maybe that is a conversation that they can have. And
you know, people oftentimes when I do interviews for the Broncos,
they ask me, okay, who is a price cut? Right?

(24:01):
That's always the question you get, and you have to
sort of dig in the well of like, okay, well
who could be the guy? That's a name that does
come up, especially since he's coming off of an injury.
So it is Drake Greenlaw. But as we sit here today,
without giving too much information, I could tell you that
he is running as a starting linebacker out there with
the practice.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
So you think at this particular point that.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
When you look at Drew Sanders, he is linebacker one, No,
No three, he's linebacker three.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Okay, yeah, he.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Think he's three. I think Tonat's four.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Okay, Well, you know what that position has been one
that we're talking about off the ball that we've been
talking about off the ball linebackers for a minute. And
the off season in the Broncos they brought in Drake
green Law. But you said, okay, well, was that enough
to really solidify that second level of the defense. We
will get a chance to see this season, but this
is going to be really important.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
For Drew Sanders. He's really gonna have to show.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
Up and practicing and gets your tea, inmates, because you've
seen a lot of what they've done from the all season.
The OTA's in the mini camp, you're gonna know the
precise place to put yourself. But we'll get a chance
to really gauge it when they have those in a
squad scrimmages. Right, they're going to go to San Francisco,
then Nicarlin is gonna come here. This is where we're

(25:18):
gonna see because now you're seeing things that you had
never saw before, and I dias, can you adjust? Even
though we know when those when Arizona comes there, they're
not going to show everything.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
They're going to save some things for the preseason.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
But that would be a good litmus test to see
how well that Drew Sanders is now handling.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
The workload being the mic linebacker.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
I feel like he's done a good job. But to
your point, Monday is going to be interesting for him
because he's going to be responsible for unfits and in
the past that he's been a bit of an issue
for Drew Sanders is taking the appropriate angles. He's got
the athleticism, There's there's no denying that. I think he's
tremendous when he's going downhill after the quarterback. I loved

(26:00):
that part of his game. But in coverage and then
sometimes taking the right angles on the run, we're still
working on that. So if you're going to play linebacker,
you're going to play inside linebacker, you're tasked with a lot.
In fact, I mean it's not quite the old school
Brian or Lacker position, but there's still a lot of
thinking going on out there, and so you can't just

(26:24):
be athletic. Is kind of the point I'm being is
like Drew Sanders has been a tremendous athlete his entire life.
He was a tremendous athlete in college. So far in
the pros what we have seen from him, he's shown that.
But you have to be more, in my opinion, that
is an inside linebacker than just a tremendous athlete.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Yeah, because all that translates to me is that if
you are very athletic, to quote the great Ray Rose
blind dog in the meathouse, right, you're just running around.
I mean you have to speeding athleticism to get to
point A in point being but playing mike backer in
this league, you know you have to.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
Do so much more. Right.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
First of all, you got the green dot, so that
means can you get the call in a stressful situation
when you're tired, disseminate it to the group, get guys
lined up. And oh, by the way, you just talked
about it, well, I mean, being at that position run
fits a huge thing, seeing a lot, but very seeing
very little right, And even in that statement it sounds

(27:22):
chaotic himself. But can you read? I mean, are you
getting the wrong read? Are you taking the wrong step?
Are you stepping up when you should be stepping back?
Are you reading your keys?

Speaker 4 (27:32):
And are you getting caught up in the wash?

Speaker 3 (27:34):
When it comes to play action and sometimes when you
are trying them eager to make a team and you
really want to showcase your speed and athleticism, you're thinking, okay,
well how quickly can I get from point A to
point B? It doesn't make a difference if the guard
blots you and you out of position.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
So if you wash yourself out of the playe that's right.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
So this is where he's going to have to be
much better this season, and I'm going to be watching
that as we go through training camp to see where
his growth and development is, because if he's able to
take that next step, knowing as though you have Alex
Singleton coming off an injury and it's always difficult for
every guy, been there myself, he now puts himself in

(28:10):
the conversation.

Speaker 4 (28:11):
Not to say that you shove him in.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
There, but he puts himself in the conversation where now
he or we could talk about him as being maybe
a starting linebacker next to green Law.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
And I'm here for it because there are some difficult,
difficult decisions that you're gonna make. I think Lavelle Bailey
he tends to show out in training camp in preseason.
He had an interception yesterday. He had a PBu yesterdays.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
The ball right from Lucas Croll as if he stole
stole fromhim, went all four D bowl my ball. That's
exactly what he did.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
It was fantastic. Poor, poor, poor Lucas Croll probably having
nightmares last night about number fifty six. But that's what
that's the point. It's like, Okay, well, how many of
these positions can you find? Cost effective players at which
means you can spend up at others. Right, you have
some decisions to make. As far as Nick Benito, again,
I'm gonna have a chance to interview him after practice today,
So it makes you that on our social channels, whether

(29:02):
it's Zach Allen JFM or Corland Sudden we got asked
about him earlier. I mean, these are decisions you have
to make. So for Alex Singleton, who is making a
starter's salary at inside the linebacker, would be great to
fill that position with a draft pick. But once again,
I think you said it perfectly. His development is going
to be key in that and the Broncos are going
to have to feel very confident, especially because Drake green

(29:23):
Law is coming off injury. The last thing you want
to do is move on from Alex Singleton and then
Drake Greenlaw somehow gets some kind of soft tissue and
then it's, oh my gosh, it's Drew Sanders and Justin
Sternaud the rest of the way.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
But there's a way that I see that you can
work your way through that. It's not ideal, it's a
Timper Arvy solution, but there is an opportunity. You start
training both Brandon Jones and Fonga to play that second
level you know, dime position, right because basically, whether you
plan diamond nickel, you're just an extra linebacker within itself.

(29:58):
So if you can start training those guys, putting in
the little packages here and there to just kind of
get them acclimated to seeing the run fits and all
of those things, now you're a little prepared just in case.
Not that you're hoping and wishing that something's gonna happen,
because no one wants that not go Wood once again,
but to make sure that you are ahead of the curb.
You're thinking in futures, and because a lot of teams

(30:20):
once a guy get injured, they going full panding mode.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
What are we gonna do? What are we gonna do?
Who we're gonna bring in?

Speaker 1 (30:25):
But now you're already prepared perfectly said five six six
nine zero kway common Spirit Health text line. Rick close
joint and joining us in about five to ten minutes.
Here he's already hanging out. Really a legend. Good to
see him. This one. We've heard Jeremy the Franchise is
that's a nickname. I don't know. Jerremany the Franchise Crosshaw
has been punting some nukes lately. Can you confirm, I

(30:45):
can absolutely confirm the Lake talent is unbelievable. Consistency though,
that's something we're still working on.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
Yeah, consistency is a big issue. But you know, the
idea that you have the altitude and the balls are
going to just sail here in Colorado, to me, that
that's kind of a big thing.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
You don't have to worry about that consistency.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
You know, it was still a work in progress as
we would call it, but you definitely like what you
see from the young kid, strong leg, and for me,
it's going to be tested. You know, I always go
back to when pants come off, throw some pressure at
him and seeing some different types of stunts up front, almost.

Speaker 4 (31:28):
Like a quarterback. Can you get the ball out?

Speaker 3 (31:31):
Because when you think about being a punter, there's a
lot of things that happened. It's a snap, it's a catch,
it's to flip and then now you got to get
the ball and you got a hope that the guys
up front did a great job not allowing anyone to
kind of penetrate the crease because that's kind of disrupting.
But I mean that consistency part are com and I
think that that had a lot to do with his

(31:54):
confidence right now.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Yeah, and I think that's right. Also, you know, he's
a young player, he's a rookie here in the league
and has he been playing American football's entire life, right,
So I think the consistency will come. But you know,
in the reality is, if you're a kicker, whether you're
a place kicker or a punter, every team would take
the consistency over the high level talent, right. I mean,

(32:15):
there's talented players that come in and out of the
league every single year at almost every position, but specifically
those positions. You need to know exactly what they're going
to do when they go out there. Hey, you cannot
have a shank punt won every three punts. I'm not
saying that's what he's doing out here. I'm just saying, like,
as for example, you know, hey, if we have you
punts six times over the course of a game, two
of those can't be shanks. They have to be good. Well.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
I think the problem that the area of the game
where he's struggling in the most because if you ask
him to put it high with with some hangtime down
the middle of the field. He could definitely do that.
Where he's struggling with consistency, is you know, all placement
almost like a quarterback, can you punt the ball with
hang time and put the ball in.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
A certain area. That's where he is struggling.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
And to his credit, like he has no choice but
to get that under remps and fix that because the
Brouncles they don't have.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Another punter on the ross.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
You are the guys. We draft you to be the guy.
So he needs to make sure that he needs to
have that.

Speaker 4 (33:16):
Ball place where he can put it anywhere on.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
The field, but from the texter when he gets a
chance to unload, like he's backed up and oh my goodness,
like it's it's stunning. It's really cool to watch.

Speaker 4 (33:27):
It is a thing of duty, you know what it's like.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
It's like when yeah, it's like watching any elite quarterback
spin it sure at that tight spiral and yes, yeah.
And the biggest thing too, is from a returner standpoint,
that end over end ball, right, it makes it really
hard for you to catch it. So now you got
hang time, end over end, and now you've got guys

(33:52):
with a lot of speed coming down. Look that's one
position that I never wanted to play.

Speaker 5 (33:58):
Same, Okay, how much you I want to play?

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (34:02):
Oh my god, no, no, no, with all my heart,
I'm good. No, I'm good.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
Because because there was always crazy guys like me who
was like.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
Oh how fast can I get down? Then hit this
dude in the chest?

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Exactly, yes, and you get pay to do.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
That, and you're leaping your feet. I'm like five yards
away him, like he is he still looking up. He
didn't give a fair catch. I'm launching I'm Superman right now,
right in his chest.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
It's like those Discovery Channel videos are the tiger, you know,
like the gazelle doesn't even see.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Him, doesn't even say it, doesn't even That's exactly That's
exactly what it's like. That's why I'm running down And
when I'm running down the field, when I play and
I'm just like, man, I can't believe someone's son is
about to get pummeled right now, right And it was like,
I don't know, why why are you playing this position?

(34:51):
Of all the positions, I would rather play long snappers.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Every time I get a chance to talk to Marvin Mems,
whether it's on the Mike Rotha Mike, I just I
kind of you know, dap mump be like, dude, you're.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
A real one.

Speaker 4 (35:03):
You might hear, you might hear.

Speaker 1 (35:06):
People don't know, yes, And I think he's even joked,
but he's even said, Yeah, you basically put your life
on the light every single time you go out there.
And you're just like to contextualize that. Imagine you and
your job. And some people do dangerous jobs. I'm sure
if you're working on an oil rig or whatever, you
do do dangerous jobs. But most people don't. Most people

(35:26):
go to work and they have the expectation they get
to go home that day with all of their extremities.
It's still attack. But the fact that you would like
know that you willingly walk out onto the field and
know that not only are seventy thousand people in the
stadium watching, but millions at home. And yeah, if you
make a mistake, you're it's gonna it's gonna be pretty ugly.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
So you drop the ball, ends up great field position
or ends up in a turnover. Yeah, and everyone is
looking for that woul lick. Yeah you ever heard the
wool lick?

Speaker 1 (35:59):
You don't have?

Speaker 4 (36:00):
Yes, And that's what you look for.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
And if I ever get a chance to interview a
return and was like, Okay, what are you thinking about
right waiting for the ball, Because if I'm back there
and someone tears me out of the frame, the first
thing I'm doing, I'm ripping every guy up front. I'm
giving every guy up front the business because it was
your guy.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
And it's like if it was a.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Gunner's like, we got two guys on one guy keep
beats both of you guys and smacks me in my
freaking face.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
Yeah, yeah, I'm giving you's got.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
Some words, all right. We're still live here from Broncos
Park powered by Common Spirit. Players are still warming up.
We get some more practice coming up here in just
a little bit. Rick lewis color analyst for you Broncos.
Gonna join us right on the other side, ryding Vers,
Nick Ferguson on Kawa.

Speaker 5 (36:42):
What time, Yes, slit it trip off your face.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
We are live here for Broncos Park, powered by Common Spirit,
covering today's Broncos training camp practice. Whether you call it
day four or day two, We're thrilled by the way.
To bring on the color analysts for your Denver Broncos
on the Broncos Radio Network to one and only Broncos
radio legend Pricklouse.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
What's up man, Hey man? Here we go, Here we go,
Broncos training camp. This feels good to be out here. Man.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
It's the best, the best this time of year.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
You know.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
We were talking about it a little bit yesterday, Dave
and I and about how different it is because the
fans are in the bleachers kind of behind us, don't
have the berm. It's a little bit different, but it
still has a bit of that feel. And with the
crowd kind of out here. I know, it's not quite
as many usually we have several thousand, and we all
about eight hundred, but it still has the vibe of
training camp, and I'm glad we have that.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
A lot of energy, a lot of optimism. The fans
that are here are cheering just the drills that are doing,
so I imagine once we really get things going. It's
it's pretty cool to go into a season with this
much optimism. But a little bit scary too, you know,
because expectations are much higher than they've been the last

(37:58):
couple of years. That's good, and that's I kind of
like to be under the radar a little bit, kind
of sneak up on people this year. This team's not
going to do that.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
No, So when you look at other teams, and I'm
glad you brought that up, because there's no sneaking up
on individuals this year. And that's to minded each when
he was sitting here, I mean, how great is it
to know that you don't have a turnstile at the
quarterback position.

Speaker 4 (38:21):
So I'll ask you to further good point.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
Well known, as though bo was going into his second
year and he had what I would say was a
great rookie season, what are your expectations for him in
his second year in this offense.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
I feel like he's going to be better. As you know,
we got off to a slow start last year first
four games or so, and then really incrementally started getting
better from week to week to week, and by the
end of the season, bow Knicks was a certified NFL quarterback.
This year, with the same coaching staff, the same head coach,

(38:56):
same system, he's going to be even better. I think
he's going to be way more comfortable and you're going
to see Boone Knicks play too, I think a little
better level than next year. I don't know how that'll
look on the staff line.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
I was gonna ask you, because.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
They're gonna have a running game this year. Let's hope
at least we're helping if they have that running game going.
Boe may not have the stats he put together last
year passing, but I think overall he'll have a better
year and soul of the offense.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
There's an efficiency to it, right, so the way the
offense operates, and you know, I agree with you. There's
been a bit of a conversation about like how much
can he drop off with the offense maintain, if not improve,
especially with a better running game. But you also have
to factor in, you know, the first few games the season, right,
I mean, he had four interceptions, no touchdowns in the

(39:42):
first two games. He kind of got off to a
bit of a slow start. I don't expect that to
be the case, and I know you don't either. This year.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
No, I think it'll be much better this year, especially
opening against Tennessee against the Titans, who are in a
rebuild with a rookie quarterback. I'm assuming Cam will start
Week one, and all indications are that he will. Yeah,
it should be good Broncos at home, or will be
more comfortable at home. All these young guys always more

(40:09):
comfortable at home, and they got to get off to
a good start because this is a pretty tough schedule
this year.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
You know what interesting that you bring up the running
backs because for me, that's one of the biggest storylines
of training camp, and with the adjustments and acquisitions that
they've made on that side of the ball, I think
that that puts a lot of pressure not just on
the running backs, but also on the offensive line, because
we know what the narrative was last year. The backs

(40:37):
were not good enough. They didn't have a lot of verse,
theydn't have a lot of vision. But let's just say,
for the sake of argument and conversation purposes, if this
run game does not get on track, knowing that you
added some guys and JK. Dobbins and RG Harvey we'll
be turned.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
To, then well, I think Evin Ingram will meet the
guy that they turned to. They finally have a pass
catching tight end. And by the way, you guys can
see it from here, what an impressive looking athletic specimen
he is. He's an incredible looking athlete, Bigger than I
thought he was going to be. Thicker, Yeah, I would
say man.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
Oh that was terrible. That's on you Ross hey.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
Man, Yeah, just walk up anytime Ross and joined us.
Uh where were we? Yeah? Evan Ingram I think will
be the guy this year. He's He's the biggest addition
to the offense in my opinion. JK. Domits should be
very productive as well. And speaking of running backs, notable
that when they started the drills here, first running back

(41:40):
was JK. Dobbins, second, r. J. Harvey, third Julia McLaughlin
and then it looked like Audric Estimee and r. J.
Harvey in person. Good lord, somebody's been spending a lot
of time on the Fine Master. And it's not me
or Nick or you Ryan. That dude is jacked, man,
he is thick. He's going to be to watch the show.

(42:00):
You know what I said about r J.

Speaker 3 (42:02):
Harvey thighs, Like, have you ever gone to one of
those Renaissance fairs and they have those little turkey drumstick
whatever that's exactly what his legs.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
Yes, yeah, Renaissance fair turkey drumsticks. You got to see
him in person that to really appreciate it. And he's
built really low to the ground and sick. He's gonna
be tough for defense, and you know this, Nick, You're not.
They're gonna have a hard time seeing him behind this
big offensive line, and he's gonna be able to just
pop through holes before the linebackers even get a chance
to see him.

Speaker 4 (42:32):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (42:32):
That's what made darren s Roll so special and Peyton's
offense down in New Wallace because you really couldn't see him.
And then since he has that low sense of gravity,
and then now he lowers his shoulder pads through lower
the contact surface like.

Speaker 4 (42:45):
Well, where you're gonna hit him, and then you do.
We're talking about his legs and the leg drive and
the power.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
To me, that's a concussion in the make it because
we know most of the current dvs in the league,
they don't stay up high. They died low at your
legs and they have their had down. So to me,
there's gonna be a lot of opportunities for him to
take advantage and get those jackyards once he put the
ball in his hands.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
And looking at Audric estimate this year, you guys tell
me if I'm wrong, it looks like he's lost a
little bit of weight, like on purpose, maybe to get
a little more quickness. He looks. He doesn't look as
big and his jacked as he did last year, and
I'm guessing they wanted him to maybe slim down a
little bit. If you guys heard that at all, have
you noticed that?

Speaker 3 (43:27):
I hadn't heard that, But I would think that for
a guy who came in last year at a Notre
Dame and had high expectations but Jen didn't reach that ceiling,
I would think that he would take it upon himself, like,
you know what, maybe I could be a little more explosive,
you know if I drop some weight and then it's
funny how competition changes your mentality, right, And I'd like
to think that that was part of why he dropped

(43:49):
some of that weight.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
Yeah, he came in last year, I think thinking he
was going to be the guy at the running back position,
and now he's battling for a roster spot. In my opinion,
that's the NFL, Right's the NFL. Yep. And you know
the beauty of this is the luxury of having all
this talent. Now. They're deep at a lot of positions now,
and there's gonna be some good football players that don't

(44:11):
make the final fifty three cut.

Speaker 1 (44:13):
Yeah, No, I mean that's exactly right. And we were
talking just a little bit about inside linebacker for example,
because you know you're thinking about two you're starting to
inside linebackers Alex Singleton and of course sure your dream
law is going to be here, but Alex Singleton coming
off an injury, they already announced that it was going
to be Drew Sanders kind of getting inside linebacker working,

(44:34):
which he got all off season. You just wondered they're
at that position, if that's going to be one of
those examples.

Speaker 2 (44:40):
Yeah, maybe Lavelle Bailey too. I think we should watch
for him. One thing about Alex Singleton, I noticed today
no knee brace, nothing on that knee at all, not
even a sleeve. I was a little surprised to see that.
Really in Trandy camp, how about you.

Speaker 4 (44:55):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (44:56):
I've had a chance to talk to him his offseason,
and and that was kind of a big concern.

Speaker 4 (45:01):
As a guy that.

Speaker 3 (45:02):
Had two knee surgeries myself. The one thing that you
don't want to wear is that long, big apparatus on
your leg because even though the trend is to tell
you it's just precautionary, mentally, as a player, you.

Speaker 4 (45:16):
Don't feel the same.

Speaker 3 (45:17):
It just feels like it's tight and you want to
you know, have the ability to feel loose. And the
fact that once again great observation that he doesn't have
a s knee sleeve on it, So that tells you that.

Speaker 4 (45:29):
He is confident in the knee. All the rehab and
the time.

Speaker 3 (45:32):
That he's giving up from his offseason is all paid off.
Now the thing is working through training camp and the
team kind of putting him on a pitch count to
make sure that there's no swelling.

Speaker 4 (45:42):
There's nothing because the idea getting him to the season.
To me, all of this preseason in training camp it
is VIATL.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
It's important, but the regular season is where you know
you're judge as a head coach.

Speaker 4 (45:54):
You want to get your top players to the regular season.

Speaker 2 (45:56):
Yeah, there's certainly a psychological component coming up for serious
injury like that, And that's a really good point you made.
He's basically it's like an affirmation. You know, you look
in the mirror and go, Okay, I'm good, I'm healed up,
I'm good, I'm strong, I'm ready to go. When you
look down and you see that brace, for sure, you
don't feel like you've healed up, but the sleeve. You know,

(46:19):
I'm a little surprised. Like I said, a lot of
times you'll see guys put that sleeve on, certainly early
in training camp just to kind of, you know, make
you feel a little bit more secure. So that's probably
a good sign that he's feeling really good.

Speaker 1 (46:31):
Rick lewis joining us here. Which rookie are you most
intrigued by? Maybe it is RJ Harvey, but you know
you're out here watching practice today, who are you excited
to watch?

Speaker 2 (46:40):
Yeah? RJ Harvey is the guy from me. I was
watching Pat Bryant's.

Speaker 1 (46:44):
Over the time that's right next to us.

Speaker 2 (46:46):
Yeah, I think that's going to be an interesting guy
to watch. He's had a good camp, You've had good
OTAs and mini camp and all that. He's a guy
they really like. Obviously, Coach Payton loved that dude. A
lot of people surprise he got picked where he did
in the third round. But I think that's another guy
I'm interested in watching. The other two guys on defense,

(47:07):
Ke Robinson and Sabian jen Ray. Both those dudes I
think will be contributors this year. It's gonna be really
fun preseason, you know, preseason, a lot of times, you know,
you don't really look at the at the veterans too much.
You're just out there looking at the young guys seeing
what they can do. And this year, I think it's
gonna be real fun to watch these guys they brought in.

(47:28):
Evan Ingram's another one. He's not a rookie, but I'm
real excited about Evan Ingram.

Speaker 1 (47:33):
And you know, justifiably, you were talking about him just
a little earlier, and as I've watched the practices out here,
it's it just becomes abundantly clear that he is unlike
any other player you have, and to your point that
you made earlier, any other player you've had for a
long time. And he's just so smooth. He's such a
smooth operator out there. Is funny when I said that earlier.
Of course Graham bump Back was shot a smooth operator.

(47:54):
I could conn't help it. But honestly, that's that's kind
of what it is, right. I mean, you see him
working and and you see what he does for opening
things up over the middle of the field, because it's
not even to be just what he does, it's what
he does for everybody else with the receivers and hopefully
even in the running game.

Speaker 2 (48:09):
Yeah, and yesterday I saw that in the posts practice presser,
he talked about how he strives for a perfection. He
wants to get better every day. But when you're an
accomplished athlete that's already a two time pro bowler, and
that's your attitude going in and that's a really good
sign for him. Another thing interesting, Courtland Sutton out there

(48:29):
when I was on the side here watching him. Now,
he's a veteran wide receiver that knows he's a legit
NFL wide receiver is going to make the team. He
was helping tomorrow. Mathis a cornerback that has been struggling,
that's on the bubble. So I saw Cortland tell him
what his route was going to be, and then he
kind of told him how to protect, you know, how

(48:50):
to guard him, how to guard that route. And so
he ran the route and the Murray Mathis did what
he told him to do, and then Courtland patted him
on the butt, going, that's right, nice there, you do that.
That's what a veteran does. Love that veteran tries to
make these guys better and he's got nothing to lose
by doing that.

Speaker 4 (49:07):
But the other thing that.

Speaker 3 (49:08):
You have to do as a veteran Damario mathis should
know this because it's been in the league for an
extensive period of time doing your own self scout. And
what I mean by that is you go back and
you watch yourself, not your good plays, all your bad plays,
and say, okay.

Speaker 4 (49:24):
Well and last year in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 3 (49:27):
This is what the organization or how the organization.

Speaker 4 (49:30):
Envision and saw me so come twenty twenty five. Is
nothing wrong with making a mistake.

Speaker 3 (49:35):
The idea from a coaching and evaluates the standpoint you
can't make the same mistake over and over again because
it's showing as though you're not developing, you're not getting better.
So I'm glad to see that Courtland spend that time,
you know, with him kind of working through those things.

Speaker 4 (49:49):
But he now needs to do that himself.

Speaker 3 (49:52):
Absolutely, you're no longer a rookie, right, so now what
if you learned over that time because you got PS
two in the role, you can sit down and I'm
not saying that he hasn't sat down with PS two
to say, okay, well, when you come up to press coverage,
what are you looking at?

Speaker 4 (50:07):
How can I become a.

Speaker 3 (50:08):
Better off the ball player because, to be totally honest, guys,
playing off the playing man to man coverage, it is
difficult because that is your guy giving skills what your
parents gave you from a genetic standpoint against another player.
But when you play off the ball, it is vision.
Your eyes and Vance Joseph have talked about it before.
He's been criticized for it and which I don't know why,

(50:29):
but your eyes, your eyes can betray you because you
see too many things that we were talking about Drew
Sanders earlier.

Speaker 4 (50:36):
How is he gonna take that next step?

Speaker 3 (50:38):
Well, how much better will your eyes be this year
opposed to last season? But this is how guys survived
training camp and make sure that when they have that
final cut day, they're not calling Rick Lewis, they're not
calling Nick Ferguson, they're not calling Big Ryan over here, right,
that's what we call him, that big one, Big Ryan.

Speaker 4 (51:00):
So when not getting that phone call, they're calling someone else.

Speaker 3 (51:03):
So that's how you make sure that you solidify your
position on this team.

Speaker 2 (51:06):
Yeah, Tomorri's this would be his fourth year and you're right,
I believe he was a third round pick. And well
you probably know yeah, the third round pick, fourth round.

Speaker 4 (51:16):
Yep, I thought he was third round pick. But there
was a lot of.

Speaker 2 (51:18):
Optimism his first year here for him, a lot of
hype around him too. They thought he was going to
be a player, and now here in his fourth year
he may have a tough time making the football team.
So I thought that was cool to watch Courtland do that.
He didn't do that when PS two was guarding them.
You know, in the in the veterans, it's a little
bit of competition, a little different, although Tomri is a

(51:39):
veteran too, but you know what I'm saying, Yeah, he
was just doing that with him. He was like working
with him. He even told him he gave him his
route and a hand signal.

Speaker 1 (51:47):
Yeah, that's cool, that's cool. But yeah, I think Corlin
PS two that they have some famous battles out here,
and he's like giving you anything you don't need it,
you know what.

Speaker 3 (51:56):
The other thing that happens in training camp too, you
have to be careful because you know, every coach is
walking around with the script and sometimes players will go
to certain coaches and say, okay, well what period is
this right, and what can we expect in that perier?

Speaker 4 (52:11):
What kind of rots.

Speaker 3 (52:12):
So some guys were smart guys, and then you see
this from a lot of veteran guys and known as
though they are competing for a job, they want to
know when a certain rife it's going to be.

Speaker 4 (52:21):
A double move.

Speaker 3 (52:21):
So that way they're on top of that double move,
and that's how they make themselves look better than some
of the rookie guys or guys who are behind them.
But that's a little VET move that I learned. I
never use it because ideas that I want to go
out to and go against a play with a fresh viewpoint, well,
I don't want to know what it is because I
want to be able to react because when you get

(52:43):
games on Sundays, guess what, You're not gonna have the
script then it seems not gonna give it to you.
But it's one of those vet moves that I learned
as a player.

Speaker 2 (52:50):
In this league.

Speaker 1 (52:51):
You look like you can still play by the way,
Oh Dody go again, he's you open the show today
talking about I could be out there for thirty or
forty plays. This is easy to look.

Speaker 2 (53:01):
I think if you walked out there right now, nobody
would say, hey, get off the field.

Speaker 3 (53:05):
Well, that guy right there with that blue hat and
that great show. He might say, but if one.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
Of these jerseys, you know, and and a pair of shorts,
they think you'd fit right in VeryE Ryan.

Speaker 3 (53:15):
The first second, let's put that in context because anyone
who's listening for the first time, I mean, they're not
going to truly understand what that conversation was.

Speaker 4 (53:22):
So let me bring you into it.

Speaker 3 (53:24):
The idea is that, yes, I mean do I still
kind of work out and keep my body in shape. Yes,
I have a lot of injuries that that I do with,
but I do believe I can go out and give
them about thirty plays, right. And the reason I feel
that is that look at the practice right this, there's
a there's a.

Speaker 4 (53:39):
Rev up to pads next week.

Speaker 3 (53:42):
Also, it's two a day practice, or it's it's training camp,
but it's a facade they practice one day.

Speaker 4 (53:49):
I can do this.

Speaker 3 (53:50):
I mean that that was that was a joint luxury
of leaving New York with parcels and coming here being
with you know, Mike Shenahan. Is the fact of how
they run. Probably once you touch the field, everything is quick,
fast motion. Give me some energy, right, so we get
our work in and we can get the hell out.

Speaker 2 (54:06):
But with this man, I could do this. Well they're
going about half speed, thank you? Right, okay, so I
could do this. I mean, sir, you could do forty
forty plays out there at half speed. Maybe the next
day you might not feel so good.

Speaker 3 (54:18):
Evan Ingram is standing in front of us right now.
He's the first guy I've seen with all his arms.

Speaker 4 (54:22):
All ladled up. Oh yeah, that's the first sweat I'm seeing.

Speaker 2 (54:27):
I mean no, and he's he's wearing football pants. What's
the side pads in them?

Speaker 4 (54:33):
Yes, you know what? Because he is preparing for game day.
See that's one thing you see a lot of these
guys with shorts and tights on.

Speaker 2 (54:39):
See.

Speaker 3 (54:40):
Evan Ingram is prepared because once he gets to the
regular game, he's already shitted with his pads.

Speaker 4 (54:45):
His body is already always acclimated.

Speaker 3 (54:47):
If you look at any skilled player on any team,
we're trying to remove pads right to become lighter.

Speaker 4 (54:53):
See, he's already in game mode. He's got a knee
pad and it stop pads.

Speaker 2 (54:57):
And you never see wide receivers wear five pads. To me, boorn, no,
so is this just for practice?

Speaker 1 (55:03):
No?

Speaker 4 (55:03):
No, no, what what I thought.

Speaker 2 (55:04):
If he was gonna wear that in the game.

Speaker 1 (55:06):
He said in his press conference yesterday that he does.
He does this is part of his sort of work
up to the pads like he does. He does this
for himself.

Speaker 4 (55:14):
It's a build up.

Speaker 1 (55:15):
Yeah, we got her.

Speaker 3 (55:16):
Once they put on pads next week, is gonna be
a shot into a lot of players.

Speaker 4 (55:21):
Yeah, because the mentality of the game. Because let me
back up for a second.

Speaker 3 (55:25):
Once they put the pads on, boom, that's when training camp.

Speaker 4 (55:29):
Fishy starts this right here.

Speaker 2 (55:30):
Uh huh.

Speaker 4 (55:31):
This is this country club, right, Someone gonna get me
up my time.

Speaker 1 (55:36):
I doubt anybody else in town is talking about men's
sweating as much as we are today here on the broadcast.

Speaker 3 (55:41):
But you were talking about, you know how guys are
coming out here and they're getting it in and no
man going through the motions.

Speaker 2 (55:49):
He looks like a wide receiver, really a big wide receiver.
Talking about Ingram. Yeah, yes, yeah, he's got that look. Man,
arms laded up, He's gonna be fun it up.

Speaker 4 (55:59):
Sweat.

Speaker 1 (56:00):
Yes, to take a cool shower after this. Five zeros
o ky cops for a Helptex slide If you want
to interact with the show. We got Rick Lewis here
for a couple more minutes. Rick, of course, we got
we got football coming up in less than a week.
We got the Hall of Fame game this Thursday, and
then of course Broncos preseason is going to be right
after that, a couple of weeks week or so away

(56:21):
from that. So early preview, I know we're gonna have
you on the show on Thursday for KA Sports, and
that's gonna be a lot of funks there, Hunter and
three hundredth anniversary show, and we'll get some more details
out about that over the course of the week. But
you know, just so your early thoughts on what you're
kind of hoping to see, knowing you're not gonna see
a lot of starters out there, maybe you see him
for a series that would be kind of fun, especially

(56:41):
with only three preseason games now. But the reality is
is you're gonna see a lot of depth, guys. So
what's important to you in the in the first preseason games.
We're looking ahead a little bit.

Speaker 2 (56:50):
First preseason game on the road against the Niners. I
think we'll see more, We'll learn more about this team
in the scrimmage against the Niners that week. Then we'll
actually learn in the game. Now, obviously we'll be focusing
on these young guys, the rookies, especially the big name
rookies in particular. Didn't even mention Joddy Barron, but we're
assuming Johnny Barron is going to be a big contributor

(57:13):
to this football team. I'd like to see them just
execute clean, properly, get the plays in on time, all
that kind of stuff. How much will we see bone
Knicks in the first game. I don't know if we'll
see him at all. Honestly, I think they'll probably save
him maybe second game, get him some snaps, second game,
depends how Sean Payton wants to do it. Last year,

(57:35):
bon Nicks first preseason game, No, you got a rookie quarterback.
Obviously you had to get him some reps and he
did get him. But I think this year you might
see him kind of sit to maybe sit that first
game out of bit. Yeah, how about you, guys.

Speaker 1 (57:50):
That's That's where I'm at. You don't know if we
need to see bon Nicks first.

Speaker 2 (57:53):
I don't think so really any.

Speaker 1 (57:54):
Of the preseason games. But I know Sewan's gonna probably
get him outre for the second one, yes, most of
the starters are not all or to rest. For the
third one you brought U Jaddy Barron, I do want
to I think get him some run. I think that
experience is really valuable for Jada. I say it's valuable
for RJ. Harvey as well. Like I'd say all the
rookies play. They should be playing significant steps over the
course of the preseason, maybe the third preseason dial it back,

(58:15):
especially for a running back. I don't know if you
need to see RJ. Den, but yeah, i'd Pat Bryant
all of them. That's what's going to be really fascinating
for me.

Speaker 3 (58:22):
See, I disagree with both of you guys on this
point because, yeah, Shako, because there's only three presons ago, right,
and the idea is that timing and rhythm is so important.
You have some new elements to this offense. Hopefully there's
some evolution in the offense where there's some different plays
being put in and you can only get so much

(58:43):
out of the practice. So putting bo in in certain situations,
getting him at least ten reps, that's it, and then
get in the hell out because he's not going to play.
And then maybe that last preseason game. In the second
preseason game, he may probably play the first second quarter
and then he's got to come out of the halftime
to get them somewhat into a routine. So I would

(59:04):
like to see the philosophy change and see Bo play
at least ten to twenty plays in.

Speaker 2 (59:10):
The first three season. I'm not opposed to that at all.
But keep in mind they're going to have the scrimmage
against the Niners, then they're gonna have another scrimmage against
the Cardinals here before that final preseason game. So I
think that's where Bo knicks will fit in a little
bit better when they're actually working on some things in
the scrimmage.

Speaker 3 (59:28):
But see, there's a lot that you can get from
those inn squad scrimmages from the other players, also from
the quarterback, but Bow working on escape routes. Like last
season when he started the season he started off with
no touchdowns. He had three rushing touchdowns, so we know
he's mobile. So having him work on that skill set
where he's able to get out of the pocket, which

(59:49):
I think he's one of the better younger quarterbacks in
the league at doing that, and fining tuning at time
in the rhythm because the biggest thing for me is
the receivers knowing.

Speaker 4 (59:58):
We gotta scrambling quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
See this with a Russ when he starts to scramble
and he goes to hit that escape hatch. Are you
going to stand there or are you going to go
to your secondary route? Those are the things that you
need to work on end game that you can't really
get in the an a squad swimmings.

Speaker 1 (01:00:13):
In my opinion, before we let you go, you got
a show Rickluse project coming up, tell us about it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
September five. It's the Broncos opening week on a Friday night.
Will be at the Buffalo Rose with Freddy Jones band Nice,
a big band out of Chicago. Get your tickets, come
on out. Last time we played with them back in March,
had a packed house at the Wild Goose where you
were for our last show. Yeah, So looking forward to that,
looking forward to the Broncos game that's Sunday. It's going

(01:00:40):
to be a great weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
Great weekend. One of the best live performance bands in
the market.

Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
In my opinion, Thank you man, appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
Humbly say that as a.

Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
Format make big Ryan, Thank you slick, don't I don't really.

Speaker 1 (01:00:51):
Want that nick name to stick. That's a nick thing.
That's a nick and Ryan Harris thing.

Speaker 4 (01:00:56):
No, no, no, Ryan brought it up.

Speaker 1 (01:00:58):
No I did not Ryan brought it up. I'm Cryan Harris,
Ryan Ryan Harris.

Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
Okay, all right, that's Ryan Harris is lotul Ryan and.

Speaker 2 (01:01:06):
I see okay. So the opposite of what.

Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
They know because because Ryan Ryan Airwoods sometimes big times.

Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
It's not that it's I was sticking up for the
offensive line that we're taking. We're to take a quick break.
They're just starting some seven on seven. We'll react to that.
Coming up next. We were Life from Broncos part Power
