Speaker 1 (00:00):
There we go.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Okay, welcome back to the Broncos Country tonight line from
the lobby of the iHeart Building as we're having the
celebration for Kwa's one hundred year birthday as a station
and lots of illuminaries and they did dignitary's and all
that kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
They got the red carpet rolled out here.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
It's somebody brought down the glass of uh what we're
gonna call this ice water even though it isn't for
my throat. So you know, a lot a lot of
that going on right now.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Yeah, a lot of especially as you see individuals coming
down the elevator and everyone.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Has a smile on their face.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
They do, they do. This is a good time.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
I had a smile on my face as I was
scrolling through Twitter.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Where did you get yourself into yesterday?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
And I don't know if you know Nick Wright or not,
I don't know where does we like to call him
around here?

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Nick?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Wrong?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
You grew up in the in the Kansas City market,
which people like to tease me about. But Nick is
a is clearly a Kansas City chiefs helper and hates
the Broncos, never has anything positive say anything Denver sports
team at all ever, and so Nick got on there
on Twitter and he said, quote the more Broncos fans proclaim.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
That no, really, this is our year, not.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
The six other years we've said that was true, but
this one the more strongly. I believe they're starting their
staring excuse me, and a last place finish in the
AFC West with Gino and Pete stealing.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
A playoff spot.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
So Nick writes out here saying the Broncos is gonna
finish last in the AFC West and that the Raiders
are going to get a playoff spot. So I saw that,
and I've seen enough.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
From Nick over the years where I've let it go,
let it go, let it go. What did you do?
I quote tweeted, and I said, I'll take that bet.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Nick ten thousand dollars says the Denver Broncos don't finish
last in the AFC West and the Raiders don't make
the playoff, loser pays winners charity, and he has yet
to accept that because Nick Wright does not put his
money where his mouth is, where benjaminal Wright does. Okay,
challenge issued, I have a ten thousand dollars charity bet

(01:58):
sitting out there on Twitter right there, you can see
it plain a day where I have offered a bet
to him that both conditions the Broncos not only know
only the Brothers not finishing the last, but the Raiders
also don't get.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
A playoff spot.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
If I do one of those things happens, I lose
and have to pay his charity ten thousand and he
will not accept it.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Okay, Well, you do know certain people are known to
blow hot air like blow dryers.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yes, and this was like a ladina or loadin or
whatever the hot air winds say.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
You know, I don't know this is what this is.
It's it's a load of it's a load of hooey.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
From a dude who's you know, is a cheesehawk looking
for engagement on Twitter. So I was like, all right,
here's a chance for you to put your money where
your mouth is. You a guy who claims you're a
professional poker player and you know, make a ton of
money doing.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
All this stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
It should be an easy, little, easy, little PC ten
thousand dollars bet to uh, you know, pay off some
to charity to help out some you know, some worthy costs.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Listen, I'm with you, I'm willing to put your money
where my mouth.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Is, right right, you're with my money where your mouth
is exactly that Nick will match the bet.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Oh yeah, I know. I just went well. I went
ahead excited to be Nick on Nick crime.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
You know, I don't know how you know, Toby understand
the yearly convention of the Knicks. You know, if you
guys bumped into each other, didn't want to be awkward.
So but I put this out there, and we have
a ton of people that are that are retweeting it.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
There's you know, something like eleven hundred people.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Everyone but him.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah, yeah, right, and he won't do anything about it
because we know what, we know what the cases be.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
These guys, they they've to sit there and they love
to they love.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
To run their mouths, but when somebody comes at them
with like okay, time to put up her shut up,
and they shut up.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
You know, I seem to like this approach from this
Benjamin or Bright forcing individuals.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Like if you accountability.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
I'm a huge accountability guy, and listen, the same thing
happens in sports. Being playing for a guy like Mike
Shanahan or Bill Parcells. Accountability was a show hold, you know,
part of it. And to see individuals say things of
radio or television and feel as though no one's gonna
hold them accountable.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
I mean, that's kind of run rampant in this business.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
But for you to take their approach like no, I'm
going to force Nick Right to respond to me and
see if he is really, you know, beholding to the
standards that he said that the Broncos are going to
finish dead last.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
If you really feel that way, then I've got some
money for your charity. All you have to do is agree.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
So Nick Right, if you're out there, it'd be a
shame if Broncos Country found that tweet and just kept
tagging it under every Nick Right tweet.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
So he got reminded every day that he failed to, uh,
you know, to take.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
On the wager there what you well, you know what,
I am going to find it and I'm going to
retweet it, okay, and I'm going to say, well, I'm
gonna double down with Ben's.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Money my money. So it's two were both covered by
me on this one. Yeah, that's how that goes. But
I do that every year. That's one of those things.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
And I found that that if I get something wrong,
if I ever get like a tweet wrong, or if
I get like I do season predictions before I start
a season of the division winners and the playoff teams.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Anything I get wrong, I don't need to charity.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Okay, oh wait, okay, So the season predictions to me,
I don't view them in that same light because you're
making prediction.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I'm not reporting something or whatever.

Speaker 5 (05:02):
Rights, but I still hold myself account Yeah, but the
idea that you're going to be as accurate when you
come out with that season of prediction, to me, nine
sounds out of ten you're not going to.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Move or not.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
And every year I have to give a couple ot
of bucks charity because I do one hundred dollars for
each division winner I miss, one hundred dollars for each
playoff team I miss.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
So you know, every year we give up a little bit.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Now, I had the Super Bowl predicted correctly last year
Chiefs and Eagles, but not the winner.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
But I still had the Super Opening. But for me,
it's still an.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Accountability thing because you don't you have so many people
in this industry they do not hold themselves accountable for
the absolute nonsense that they put out there.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Okay, well, well with that being said, give me something
that you feel in the world of vision and albright
as it pertains to the Denver Broncos. Because you already
put the tent to thounds in bet down with Nick Wright.
What do you think right now that if you had
to put a wager on that you would be willing
to say, Well, I feel as though this is going

(06:00):
to be a guarantee or you have a high level
of certainty that's going to take place with the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Oh, that's a good one. Let me give you an idea.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
Let me give you a couple of ideas.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
All right, Let's just say the QBR for bow Nicks
is going to be better this year posting last year. Okay,
but the Broncos are going to have a running back
that has three games this season over one hundred yards? Okay,
call the sudden.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Has I go courtless in over one thousand US thousands
this year he stays healthy, that's more likely than he
stays healthy. I believe he'll get over a thousand yards year.
You talk about a guyho I usually average about seven
hundred and fifty.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
I believe WI go over one thousand this year. Yeah,
like he had one thousand last year.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Did he not know?

Speaker 4 (06:42):
No, he didn't.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Oh he was at like.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Nine forty or something like that.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Okay, So, and that's been a thing. I I one
hundred yard rushers. I believe there will be a hundred
yard rusher this year. I don't know how many times
they'll be able to do it, just because the way
Sean rotates the backs, you never know and he gets
away from it sometimes.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
That's been the knockut of this New Orleans. The New
Orleans fans are like, dude, run.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
The ball and you know he'll he'll pass to continue
passing and padding those numbers.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Well, so that means that you in agreement that both
qv are for this season could be better.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, I believe it. I believe it could be better.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
And in fact, I believe the Broncos could be a
better football team this year and still wind up with
the same record. He see much much tougher schedule this
year than it was last yet, least on paper to me.
Maybe maybe I'm overestimating some teams, but I think it's
tougher this year.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
So do you have them met over under ten?

Speaker 1 (07:28):
I think ten and seven is the number.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Ten and seven I think that's the number.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
You know, maybe eleven at the ball bounce is right,
But man, it's a tough schedule and you've got a
bank wins early because the back part of that schedule
is brutal.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
See that's why the front part is running point week three,
four and five.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
And I'll tell you this, if you're a fantasy football owner,
I've been talking to people down there in Tennessee. Cam Warden,
Calvin rit that looks like the real deal according to
and Now, Tennessee's not going to beat the Broncos, and
a rookie quarterback at his first start against his defense.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Is probably gonna be rough.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
But if you're a fantasy football owner and you're looking
for something over the course of the season, I I
look for Cam to have kind of a similar trajectory
as Bow where he starts off a little rough but
starts to pick it up as the season goes along.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
This year, and his favorite target is definitely Calvin Ridley
down there.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
You know what you're talking fantasy football, there's one guy
who I'm thinking, if you can't get some of those
top quarterbacks to in your in your fantasy league, Drake May.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
There's a lot of people that are that are big
on that. You know, it'd be interesting to see.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
I'm kind of interesting to see what the Patriots look like.
They've got a ready built defense and you know, Vrabel's
gonna hold You're gonna have a different standard as far
as that stuff goes.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
But see this, this is why, this is why I
like Rabel.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
I mean, I like Drake May if you can get him,
because based on what we saw from him from production standpoint,
towards the end of the season, he started to show
those early flashes as to why people started talking about
him early in the draft processes being the top pick,
right and Dan you factor in Brabel. I know around
here Josh mcdames is not really like but I think

(08:55):
Josh mcdames will proved really.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
As an OC. That's just niche. He's just there's no
business being a coach.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
He's going to prove really beneficial for Drake May. So
if I know, they hadn't started the fantasy draft yet,
but I'm just tossing that out there. You know, I
would say Drake May would be one of those super picks.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Yeah, I'm with it on that. You see the news
today Terry McLaurin has asked.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
For a trade. You know, I don't believe he gets
traded by the way. Know that is something that you say.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
And even though.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
I know Adam Peters, you know they're not going to
trade him, they'd be willing to entertain. Some people actually
call it. And I know that's saying right now. No,
Terry is one, he's our guy. We're not trading him,
even though we're going through a heated contract negotiations. But
if someone makes the right call, it makes the right offer,
all of that change.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
I think it's thirsty enough they could.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
But we've seen receivers ask for trades before, not get Brandon,
I you guys. Fore, of course he didn't get tell
Deebo Samuel and he didn't get that. Debo got a later,
but he when he originally demanded that trade, he did not.
It's a negotiating tactic to do with contracts and all that.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
I got a team, though, I got a team that
I would like.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
The U you on the Patriots with Drake May you're
just talking about.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
I didn't say that, same same division, but a different team.
I would love to see scary Terry with Josh Allen
and Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Yeah, I think gotta be a good fit.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
I honestly, he'd be a good fit on on any
offense except the Jets. In that in that division, you
know you could put him. You know, you get a
waddle and a draft picked for McLaren. I mean, do
you take that if you're if you're saying from me,
while you put McLaren opposite Tyreek Hill And now, all
of a sudden, look at that receiving core in Miami.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Now I'm not giving up Jayleen Wattle.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
I mean, McLaurin has done a fantastic job with Washington,
all things being considered, with a number of quarter of
different quarterbacks he's had.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
But no, I'm not giving up.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Jaalen wanting to do Tyreek Hill off flow Tyreek Hill
to the commanders.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
That's a win win.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
You get rid of hit the personality in the contract,
you bring in Terry McLaren.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Now, all of a sudden, that that sounds very interesting
because when you when you think about Jane Dais and
a lot of his production offensively, a lot of I
came through Terry McLaurin. But if you if you were
to add Tyreek Q to that, now you're able to
stretch the defense and you know he wants to throw
vertical that would.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
That would be a nice look. But what would it cost?

Speaker 1 (11:15):
So you get Tyreek Q in some draft pick?

Speaker 2 (11:19):
You know, I mean, I'm speaking of hypotheticals here.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
This is not me reporting something. I'm I'm just throwing
something out there.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
So that would be good to see, especially from a
fantasy football standpoint.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Whateveral report is that the Broncos and Zach Allen are
getting close.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
It's not done yet, but they're getting close on a deal.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
They already got the Courtland deal done, which was interesting
because he was the last of the three that they offered,
but the first of the three to get done.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Talking of course about Zach Allen, Nick Bonito.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
In court withand sudden Sutton winds up with a deal
that was the exact number that I'd quoted back in
February to roughly twenty three million a year. He was
originally looking for t Higgins money, but willing to leave
money on the table for to stay with the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
That's right there in that Terry McLaurin window too.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Mclauren wants thirty three million of the year. He's looking for.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Ten and he's like, first, well, he's looking at his
numbers and he's comparing those two DK Metcalf and saying, Okay,
well look at my numbers versus his numbers. And I
think McLaurin may be two years older than DK. But
for me, I think I don't think I know that
Terry McLaurin is a better route runner right than DK,

(12:23):
because DK, I.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
Mean he runs the nine round.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Yeah, he's a nine and eight guy. I mean, that's
what you're doing.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
That's that's about it. But I mean, if you want
a guy.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Who is all around wide receiver's your due do a
type of guy, then that's the direction going. Because even
though I know how how the negotiation works with the
business of football, and I know the idea is that
Terry McLaurin is now thirty years old, and ideas like, well,
you don't want to play a wide receiver in his thirties.
But the idea is that this is not your average

(12:53):
thirty year old receiver. And then you look at how
productive he's been from a number standpoint quarterbacks that he's had.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
To say, he's quarterback proof.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
You look at the guys that have been throwing him
the ball and the numbers that he's put up, and
you're like, how you know, I mean guys like Sam
Howell and all that kind of I mean they had some,
they had some throwing him the football.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
But again that's another thing. When that was the same,
I always.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Excuse, but it was the same you know, points that
people put up talking about with Courtland and Jerry Judy.
When you look at the guys that were throwing the
ball those years, why the reason.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Why their stats aren't what they were.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
But Terry McLaurin was still putting up the productivity despite
having some pretty subpar quarterbacks throwing him the football.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
When a wide receiver who is in a scheme, offensive
line balance, quarterback deficient position, it makes it really hard
sometimes to evaluate them because some guys, you know, look
at Justin Jefferson and someone said, well, why is it
that he is the type of why receiver that he is.
You look at the system, you look at the number

(13:54):
of targets per game, how they utilize them, how they
move him around. And then also you got a quarterback
who wants to drive the ball and push the ball
down the field.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
And sometimes with a lot.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Of these receivers, I mean, they don't get that acclaim
like calling Sudden, I think from a salary standpoint, he
may be I think eighteenth.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
Something like that. Yeah it's not fifteen to eighteen story, yes,
something like that.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
But once again, when you look at Calling his production,
you have to say, okay, well, how often is he
used within the framework of the scheme? And that changes
a lot and a lot of the perspective and the
viewpoint on the wide receiver. And when you look around,
you start looking at other players at the position.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Why is this guy deemed better than this guy?

Speaker 3 (14:38):
And obviously you talk about speed, size and rot runner,
but other than that, it's like how many times are
you being targeted in a given game?

Speaker 6 (14:45):
Right?

Speaker 2 (14:46):
And that's going to be interesting because you know, they
went out and they got Debo to be the screen
you know, the screen game guy, and then what Terry
to be the vertical you know, the vertical guy. Well,
now you know they haven't been able to get that
contract to, you know, to where they want to. Everybody's
satisfaced you and I thought they were gonna get it done,
but they hit some some snag or some stall, uh,
and so it looks like they're not They're not quite

(15:06):
as close and now of course he's demanding the trade.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
We'll keep our our eye on that.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
We come back, we're going to talk to Nick Cosmider
of the Athletic and his take on how camp has
gone so far. We'll get a chance to delve deep
on what he thinks that both of the guys who
pooked like and and any questions you guys want to text.
End of the text line and then top of the
hour tips to that from the Denver Outlaws lacrosse team
coach is gonna gonna join us, So that'll be that'll

(15:32):
be a lot of fun. Get a chance to talk
to lacrosse on this show. You don't get the opportunity
that that much.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
And since I know next.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
To nothing about lacrosse, that's gonna be incredibly hilarious, h
from my perspective. So you guys stick around for that.
We'll be back here a Broncos Country night.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Back up for this.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
I Am We're broadcasting line from the lobby at the
iHeart Building. Is that is the one hundredth anniversary of
KOA being on the air. All Nick Ferguson here with you,
going right out to the Kway Common Spirital hotline though
and bringing on Nick Cosmeider from The Athletic Nick, how
you doing to see me?

Speaker 6 (16:08):
I'm doing great, guys, thanks for having me.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
Yeah, absolutely good to good to see out there today.
We've had a lot of questions rolling in on the
text line what his bo nix look like?

Speaker 1 (16:16):
How's I D.

Speaker 7 (16:17):
Barron doing?

Speaker 1 (16:18):
But we'll get to that stuff.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
What are your initial observations as we've about a week
under our belts with camp here?

Speaker 7 (16:25):
Yeah, you know, I was interested today. It was funny because.

Speaker 6 (16:28):
Yesterday we were all out to have that practice, that.

Speaker 8 (16:30):
That padded practice there on Wednesday that was the longest
one of camp, and you really did just sort of
feel like, man, this is this is like different energy level,
different kind of physicality and just overall like quality of
sustained effort and performance.

Speaker 7 (16:47):
That was actually like really cool to see.

Speaker 8 (16:49):
And you're thinking, man, we didn't talk to Sean Payne,
but you think he must have. He must have been
like pretty pleased with that with that practice. Then sure
enough he comes today after Thursday's practice still wanting.

Speaker 7 (16:59):
To talk about about Wednesday.

Speaker 8 (17:02):
You know, same thing with some of the guys that
we talked to, And so I just thought, like I
think That's one of the things that I've that I've
seen that's been unique about this team so far is
is they're just kind of dialed in in a way
that I'm like, since I've been covering this team, haven't
seen right like, you'll have days, you'll have days where

(17:22):
there's there's just there's some flashes and some of those things.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
But just the kind of consistent, like.

Speaker 8 (17:28):
Raised standard that you can tell just by the way
that they talk, uh and interact with.

Speaker 6 (17:33):
Each other that that you know, it's.

Speaker 8 (17:36):
Kind of at a different level that they're that they're
competing for bigger prizes.

Speaker 7 (17:40):
And and you know that has to start somewhere.

Speaker 6 (17:43):
And I think if they have the kind of season.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
That we think it's possible that.

Speaker 6 (17:46):
They could have, you're you're going to look back at.

Speaker 8 (17:49):
Days like Wednesday and we'll come out of it and
say like, yeah, that that's when.

Speaker 7 (17:52):
We really started to kind of first see it.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Well, Nick, when we.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
Look at the wide receivers, obviously, you know Ben has
his list of the top six guys who are going
to make it, and you have a lot of college
and free agent guys still trying to find a way
to showcase the ability and say, well, okay, well, don't.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
Count me out yet.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Has there been a guy or two that you've seen
of the free agent wide receivers who've kind of flying
some practice so far?

Speaker 6 (18:17):
Yeah, I mean like that that's a tough position, Nick.

Speaker 7 (18:20):
As you know, like to make the team. You know,
we don't know whether they'll keep six.

Speaker 8 (18:26):
I mean when you have a guy like Trent Sherfield, who,
by the way, has been you know, one of their
most consistent guys, maybe their most consistent guy in camp
so far this side of Troy Franklin in terms of
just the every day getting open, making big plays.

Speaker 7 (18:39):
You add him to the mix of a.

Speaker 8 (18:41):
Group that already includes Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Franklin, you
know who I mentioned, Devon Vley, and you have a
group that's pretty well solidified.

Speaker 7 (18:51):
But there could be another spot there, and certainly guys.

Speaker 8 (18:54):
Are going to be competing to to be on the
practice squad of a team and have that chance to
continue going on. I think all four of those undrafted
guys that they have have sort of taken turns. You know,
Kyries Rowan had a really good OTAs.

Speaker 6 (19:08):
Last a little bit early camps had some.

Speaker 8 (19:09):
Drop issues that have hurt him a little bit, but
then you have you know, a guy like Krwan Newton
come on the you know, the guy that played almost
i think sixth seasons that.

Speaker 7 (19:18):
At Toledo had his days.

Speaker 8 (19:19):
But the last couple of days it's been Joaquin Davis,
who I think I've heard his nickname among his teammates's legs,
because this guy's about you know, six foot five going
on six', ten with how long he, looks starting to
starting to make some plays the last couple of. Days
so it's it's been a fun group to. Watch and you,
Know sean talks today about like we're starting to get
close to those times of like joint practices and and

(19:43):
preseason games where it's like you get a little bit
of a clearer picture of what guys who are starting
to show some of that can actually, do.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
You, know in the full type of competitive.

Speaker 8 (19:54):
Settings and So i'm really curious with that group because,
yeah they just sort of take and.

Speaker 7 (20:00):
Turns almost you, know standing. Out so it's going to
be who.

Speaker 8 (20:03):
Can carry that into these competitive practices and games coming.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Up talk With Nick, cosmider you, know The broncos got
the deal For Courtland sutton done looks like he lets
a little money on the, table but he comes back and
gets to Stay bronco a little while. Longer Zach allen
deal is nearing, completion not quite, there but but near
incompletion on that one as. Well Nick benino though riding
out the, market you, know and WHEN i think, wisely

(20:26):
so you look At Michael, Parsons Trey hendrickson out there
and neither guy. Signed that's gonna up the uh you,
know the top five average and that that'll play in
his favor probably a little bit more distant down the,
road but it looks like The broncos are pretty easily
getting the deals done that they want to get. Done
this is a this is a big turnaround for where
this franchise was just four years.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
Ago.

Speaker 8 (20:46):
Yeah and the other part of that then is like
it's also great to have guys that you want to
get deals done, with you, know like this, time just
even a few years, ago like The broncos had been
in a stretch where after they Signed Courtland sutton And
Tim patrick to their respective second contracts in twenty twenty,
one it was a long time before they handed out,

(21:07):
another you, know.

Speaker 7 (21:08):
Another contract, extension.

Speaker 8 (21:11):
If correct me If i'm, wrong But Quinn minors when
he got his before camp last year was the first
guy since.

Speaker 6 (21:17):
That patrick And sutton in the.

Speaker 8 (21:20):
In november of twenty one to sign a long term.
DEAL i might be forgetting somebody in, there but but
more or less there there there was this gap where
you're just, like you, know who do they even have
to want to do that?

Speaker 6 (21:30):
With and now all of a, sudden you, know you
Get Quinn miners.

Speaker 8 (21:32):
Done, Obviously patzertan was a no. Brainer Jonathan cooper the
way that he, started you, know twenty twenty four and
got off the, ground he became a guy that was
a high priority for them and got him. Done Garrett bowles,
again you, know having a having a strong twenty twenty
four and showing himself to still have a lot left

(21:53):
even at his. Age and now you get you, know
you Get Corland sutton done and to your, Point Zach,
allen probably right around the.

Speaker 6 (22:01):
Corner it's it's one of those like proverbial good.

Speaker 7 (22:04):
Problems to have of, like, yeah we have to we
have to balance these budget sheets for the for now.

Speaker 8 (22:09):
And for the, future and that takes a lot of,
finaggling but certainly better than the position that.

Speaker 7 (22:13):
They're in where you're, saying.

Speaker 6 (22:14):
Who on this team is going to get?

Speaker 8 (22:16):
One and they you, know, look you had an opportunity
with a guy Like Jerry judy and ultimately decided that like,
that that wasn't the exact fit for what you, wanted
you know more and, MORE i think culturally than than,
Schematically and so he was another guy that you had
the chance to do that. With SO i think that
speaks to the job That George peyton you, know obviously
was doing in the draft already and then certainly the

(22:37):
way that he has collaborated With sean to continue to
bring guys both in the draft and free agency to
where you have guys that you do you want to,
Sign like how many teams right now are, saying like
went into the season, saying, man we got like four,
guys four guys that we want to get done or
could potentially get. Done like, again it's it just speaks
to the job that they've done building this roster in

(22:58):
relatively short.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Order well, then you, know being in the locker, room
it's always, about you, know, competition and sometimes that competition
extends back into our collegiate.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
Days AND i wanted.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
To get your take on you, Know Marvin hymns And
Malcolm roach and that competitive drive that's playing out on social.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
Media when you see two guys on the opposite side of.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
The ball and who went to different collegiate schools kind
of go after each other and have. Fun how great
is that for the team and building that that camaraderie
and that chemistry that they're going to need throughout the.

Speaker 8 (23:31):
Season, yeah, well and it's and it's great for like
us that it's great for like the fans who.

Speaker 7 (23:37):
Get to kind of like bee that different part of.

Speaker 8 (23:39):
It you, know first of, All marvin Is marvin's been
like kind of.

Speaker 7 (23:42):
A low, key hilarious social media.

Speaker 8 (23:45):
FALL i think when When Zach allen got put on
the list floads.

Speaker 6 (23:49):
Of guys like NINETY i believe on the on the.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
Top one hundred and ninety two whatever it.

Speaker 8 (23:52):
Was and And nick you, know came to his teammates
defense right away and, said you know that that was too.

Speaker 7 (23:59):
Low but you Know, nick as we all, do including This, nick.

Speaker 8 (24:04):
Sometimes you is sent too fast without proofreading and, say, ah.

Speaker 7 (24:08):
Too low with only one. Oh and of Course marvin was.

Speaker 8 (24:11):
There to swoop in before he could even realize and,
SAY i guess you.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
Weren't going to class there when we were At, oklahoma you,
know stuff like.

Speaker 8 (24:19):
That so So Marvin, Man marvin is like he's one
of the more, sneaky hilarious like guys THAT i That
i've been able to cover in this, town you.

Speaker 7 (24:28):
Know so, YEAH i think that's absolutely.

Speaker 8 (24:30):
Great and you, know look that we talked a little
bit about that practice.

Speaker 7 (24:34):
Of like being able to go.

Speaker 8 (24:35):
OUT i thought one of the coolest things was that
first nine.

Speaker 6 (24:39):
On seven where it really started to get.

Speaker 7 (24:41):
Going and the d line is Is john AND.

Speaker 8 (24:44):
Jk dobbins, Right like he's not like some shrinking violet
and who only got here a month. Ago so he's
like wading into the. Waters he, was he was the
guy at the front of.

Speaker 7 (24:54):
It but then at the end he you, know he
And Malcolm roach were dapping one another. Up you know
that that's part.

Speaker 8 (24:59):
Of what you part of what you, want like the,
competitiveness the, energy the. FUN i, mean, look it doesn't
it doesn't translate automatically to what they're going to do
on the, field BUT i think it's very obvious building
blocks of what you want to have.

Speaker 7 (25:13):
As you build a.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Team when it cosmio the athletic speaking of building. Blocks you,
know they really wanted to.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Up the run game this year and the disaster at
times that it was last.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Year you go out your, Draft Archie, harvey you SIGNED.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
Jk, dobbins you Got, Jaliel you've Got under Custom a
competing for you, know competing for that other.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Spot this, year they figure to be.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Better and THEN i Saw i've seen them practice more outside,
zone AND i THINK i have the entire Time Sean
payton has been, here looks like they may be incorporating
that a lot more into what this alf fancy is
instead of just running between the b gaps like they
have the last couple of. Years have you had the same. Observation,
Yeah and you, know.

Speaker 8 (25:53):
Like Adam, troutman like you, know guys Like Garrett, Bowles Quinn.
Minors they they've been kind of you, know speaking to
that a little of like changed.

Speaker 7 (26:00):
PHILOSOPHY i talked To Marvin.

Speaker 6 (26:02):
Mims a little bit, ago and.

Speaker 8 (26:04):
Like you, Know sean made some of these coaching, changes
and obviously he gave like promotions in house to guys
Like Zach street and then on the defensive, End Jim, leonard you,
know same With Davis, webb you, know kind of taken
over the pass game coordinator, role but he also wanted
to kind, of LIKE i, think lend more voice to
those guys of, saying you, Know i'm not just promoting
you into these roles for name, only, like you, know

(26:26):
how do we want to look at this in terms
of changing up what we're. Doing AND i think that
that is sort of the result of some of that
where you are seeing more of this outside zone AND
i think the guys that the the the personnel that
they that they kind of targeted speaks to, that, Right
like our J harvey that one, cut you, know like
his ability to cut while he's moving and change direction

(26:49):
with without an obvious like you, know.

Speaker 7 (26:51):
HESITATION i think we've already seen.

Speaker 8 (26:54):
Some pretty consistent glimpses of, that and that obviously caters
well to more of.

Speaker 7 (26:59):
That outside on.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
Scheme so whatever the changes that.

Speaker 8 (27:04):
They've, MADE i think just being a little bit more
consistent with whatever they decide to do is going to be.
KEY i just thought there were times last year, where you,
know and again part of it was the fact that.

Speaker 7 (27:16):
They didn't necessarily.

Speaker 8 (27:17):
Have the consistent performers in the backfield that they needed
to do everything they wanted to, do but there was
just kind of it was like a you, know just
a lot of dabbling and this and that in terms
of the run. Game so the idea that they could
create something that's a little bit more of an identity
for themselves this year and have the personnel to do,
THAT i think will only serve.

Speaker 6 (27:37):
Them you know, better especially.

Speaker 7 (27:39):
As they start to build play action off of.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
It Nick ben AND i seem to be split when
it comes to the wide. Receiver he is heavily leaning
Towards Devon. Belt and now he calls me the agent
Of Troy franklin because what's your?

Speaker 1 (27:52):
Percentage?

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Again BECAUSE i speak so highly of. HIM i, mean
what is it that you need to see.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
This season From Troy, franklin maybe in the first pre
season game that will give you any indicators that this
kid is now being able to take in the second
year and make that jump to one of those young
wide receivers that we started to talk about from here.

Speaker 7 (28:14):
On, now, yeah you broke up a little, bit BUT.

Speaker 8 (28:18):
I think you're asking me About Troy franklin's, jump, Right, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
What you need to see to be to indicate that
he is progressing because he's made some plays in Trend
camp AND i, know you, Know ben is a little
concern Of Troy franklin in his. Development but please help
me calm, Down, ben just a little based on what
you've seen so.

Speaker 8 (28:39):
Far, Well i'm sure this is on my end that
this is, happening but it cut out a little bit.
Again but one THING i just wanted to say about
Like Troy franklin and the job that he's, done IS
i remember when.

Speaker 6 (28:52):
This new coaching staff got.

Speaker 8 (28:54):
Here you, KNOW i talked To Zach street because When
Michael thomas had his records set, year whatever year that
was twenty, Seven it all blends. Together but that record
setting year in terms of catches one hundred and forty,
nine as X streep was in the broadcasting.

Speaker 7 (29:10):
Booth at the.

Speaker 8 (29:11):
Time you, know he's obviously had a pretty interesting career.

Speaker 6 (29:14):
Since he retired in terms of.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
The things that he's.

Speaker 8 (29:16):
Doing but he, said like you really can't discount like
this system and just having some time to develop into,
it Like Troy franklin is just like he knows what he's,
doing like this time last, year like you literally just
him getting in and out of the. Huddle when they
would break the huddle and he would go to his,
spot you could see him looking at almost everybody else

(29:38):
around him for some visual confirmation that he was in
the right spot or.

Speaker 6 (29:43):
Some of the suggestions as to where.

Speaker 7 (29:46):
Else he should. Be there's none of that this. Year
you watch, him.

Speaker 8 (29:49):
He breaks out of the, huddle he's going right to his,
spot and he's just sort of carrying that pace at
the snap as. Well and when a guy who is as.

Speaker 6 (29:58):
Fast as he is is.

Speaker 8 (29:59):
Now laying free and not having any kind of, hesitation
that's when you see the speed start.

Speaker 7 (30:04):
To, come which is which is.

Speaker 8 (30:05):
Scary when he considered that he was open constantly last,
year just not necessarily in the right, space and that's
why there was always just not white that connection with
he and Bo.

Speaker 7 (30:14):
Nich but that's What i've seen with.

Speaker 8 (30:16):
Him And i'm SURE i didn't answer your, questions so
again breaking up probably on my, end but that's kind
of What i've seen from.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
Him, no, no you got.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
IT i JUST i just know that you, guys you,
nicks are both. Bothizations so that's that's what we know.
Now Nick, cosmier the athletic appreciate you jumping On, nick
we got to hit a, break but we appreciate you coming.

Speaker 6 (30:34):
On, yeah all, right thanks a, Lot absolutely take.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Care, Nick cosmiter of The.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
Athletic we come back and we talk a litt lacrosse
thanks to One Nick. FERGUSON i don't know anything about,
lacrosse so we're about to get an.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
