The comedian Earthquake gotta join us at at seven thirty.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
That'll be a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I went to an Earthquake show back in Little Rock. Yeah,
I stood out in the audience like a sore throw man.
The only only only why I got me with the
complexion of an iPhone flashlight man not you know. I
want to see if he remembers that I was in
the audience because I was like the only white guy there.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
But he's had funny diverse, well, yeah he's got he's
got a new thing coming up on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I got a thirty minute weekly show with like Phil
Burr coming up, So that's gonna be you know, that'll

gonna do he's gonna do a couple of shows out here.
So if you guys want to get tickets, we'll get
all that information for you. But Jam Show Broncos released
the air Quotes depth chart doing the nonsense that they
normally do, which is putting the rookies dead last regardless

(01:10):
of where they really are on the depth chart.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
And so we wind up with a running back room
that has JK. Dobbins is running back one, Julia McLoughlin two,
Estimate three eighty four, Watson five, and r J. Harvey
is running back six, even though we all know from
watching practice that he's really RB two. R J.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Harvey's up in the mix. Yeah, this is not that
far down the depth chart, but I guess anybody, even
if you weren't at practice, you know that AUJ. Harvey
is further up than this. Yeah, and you guys got
running back in the room.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Call.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
You guys got a baron behind Rhys Taylor on the
depth chart at corner.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
What are we doing here?

Speaker 2 (01:48):
This is there's there's some moments where you just look
at the stuff and you're like, what do we Sometimes you.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Want to you know, the coaches want to keep the
rookies humble.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Just to create extra motivation for them. Well, I mean
r J. Harry, he's got to know he's number two.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
The culture is you got to take it, and so
like at this point, no jobs have better now, so
it's you.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Know, you got to keep earning it.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
I get what he's doing in terms of culture and
the standard and all that stuff. But for the rest
of us who have to field questions about this from fans,
it's like, what are we doing here?

Speaker 1 (02:15):
This is stupid. We know it's stupid, Like, come on,
this is a strategy. Strategy.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
You last on the depth chart, Steve, it was the
last time you last on the depth chart was.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Probably your freshman year of high school, maybe my first
day camp maybe, but.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Right after that, it was the last time you looked
at a depth chart you saw some names above you
on the depth chart. It had to be like your
freshman year of high school.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
It's been a while.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I didn't play my freshman year because I messed my
shoulder up.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
I was playing sandlite football. Oh yeah, we're collar bone.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Oh man, I was out yeah, but sophomore years you yeah, yeah,
sophomore year and you're like, sit out freshman.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
I'm taking sitout senior. So I'm taking this money. I
wouldn't your way up? What man? Man, those those were huge.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Yeah, yes, and that's you saying that. I can't even
imagine me looking at them.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Yeah, but I didn't really have my girls burd till
like my sophomore junior year. Oh okay, man, those guys
were diagonymous.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
See that's I hit mine like my freshman then as
you didn't grow Yeah, look I hit my freshman year.
They were expecting me to be like six three. You know,
my dad was six three, two twenties. They were expecting
me to get up there, you know like that. Yeah,
I hit five ten to stop growing.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
The under the way under way under which I'm I
like little shorter. I'm a little shorter than I used
to be.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
I used to like like almost five eleven, and I'm
you know, if they still spinal compression from the parachuting,
you know, Okay, yeah, yeah, that's what we'll call it. Okay,
weeking or not but legitive, but anyway, yeah, it's it's
uh yeah, they you look at it, I'd be like,
oh my, you know for freshman year, I was like, hey,
you know I got some size, Yeah, but I do not.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
I can't imagine.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
It feels kind of crazy to you know, start off,
you know, taller than most of the guys.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
And then hey hey wait, how'd you get that tall?

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (04:09):
What do you been doing?

Speaker 2 (04:10):
And then everybody else shoots up around you and you're looking
at like what went Well, well, yeah, it's a miracle.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Grow you're leaving me. I'm just saying, don't leave me here,
take me with you.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
I had a buddy who was a middle school legend
running back because he hit puberty in like seventh grade. Yeah,
and then every he never grewash and yeah he had
a full beard in eighth grade and then he never
got over.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Five foot ten.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Yeah, and everyone else like you just got bigger, stronger, faster,
and he stayed the same.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
That was It was funny because like, uh, second third
fourth grade, like I was the runt, Like I was
the small kid.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Like second third fourth grade.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
We had a guy, we have one guy in his
third grade fourth grade's dad was really tall.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
He wanted to be like six two.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
So we were David and Goliath in the school play.
Like I was dead because I was small and he
was huge, you know kind of thing. So I was
like small and then like put the ninth grade hit.
I was like yeah, you know, I was like revenge
on all you. Then the next year with the other way. Yeah,
right back to the way it was, Right back to
the way it was.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
Rocco's headed out San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
We got joint practice with the forty nine ers tomorrow,
preseason game Saturday night, right here on KOA. Dave Logan
mc lewis on the call, Susy Origin on the sidelines.
As we look at this joint practice in this first
preseason game, what are we what are we hoping to
see out of this? Because you know, me being out
there camp, this defense is legit. They don't have to

(05:26):
sell me on anything.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
The offense. I still have some questions.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Yeah, I think everybody feels that way about the defense.
Most people have questions about, Hey, is bow Nick's going
to have a sophomore slomp?

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Bar?

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Is he going to continue to excel? I obviously think
he's going to excel He's looked really good in camp.
But my biggest question is will that run game be there?
Will the run game be improved from last year? And
was it enough to draft the running backs that was
was that our only issue is our running backs could

(05:59):
run well.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
We did draft one in R. J. Harvey. Of course,
we signed one in JK.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Dobbins from across the division, and we've seen what looks
like a switch or a pivot out of this team
to maybe a lot more outside zone, which favors their
skill sets more so than perhaps the running back from
last year.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
But I don't know the answer to that.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
I think this offensive line is probably a little bit
more built for zone blocking. Outside of maybe Ben Powers,
the rest of this offensive line is built a little
more for zone blocking. In McGlinchey, Bowles, that's what they
were drafted for, was you know, McGlinchey drafted in San
Francisco and the balls. Of course when he was drafted here,
we were run zone blocking. So those guys, those guys
are more built for that. Wattenburg's more of his own guy.

(06:45):
Powers is the only one who's really not He's more
of a power gap guy, So.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
That that sort of interests me.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
But you look at you know, you look at what
they're trying to do here, and I, okay, we're trying
something a little different with the run game.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Dave made a point.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
I think it was yesterday afternoon he was talking about this,
and I think this is the biggest point. It's not
so much if they shift philosophies and they start doing
that on the run game.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
You got to marry the play action up to the
run game too.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Your run action has to look like your play action
when you're doing that.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
And we didn't have that last year.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Like as matter of fact that the Broncos play action
and run action games, uh have not been good for
frankly for years.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
And it almost seems like some teams don't even try
to get the teams to fight on the run right anymore.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
It's like they just go straight to pass.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah, you go, you go through the motions if you're
doing it, you don't even try to do it.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
And you were peiging mannyhow play action pass a time?

Speaker 2 (07:40):
I mean yeah, because uh, asking for a friend.

Speaker 6 (07:45):
No.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
I mean, but he like like peg Manning was like
trying to get an oscar out there right, Like the
way he was acting it up.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
I mean he was trying to give you. He was
trying to full on sell.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
I mean, I haven't seen acting that good on a
play since Nebraanski was doing the Statue of Liberty for
Boise against Oklahoma and the Fiesta Bowl before.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Boy, you going back. I'm just saying that. I mean,
that's but that that's some of the good things that
you know. I mean, you know, every fooled everybody.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
I you know, when you look at when you look
at what the Broncos have missed the last couple of years,
it's it's, uh, they haven't run the ball well under
Sean Payton. They haven't run play action very well in
the last few coaches.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
We know that in the right situations, if Sean has
the right people on the team, he.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Will run it. He has before.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
No, I think that if he doesn't feel like he
has the right guys.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
He may not, he may not commit to it. But
when he's got him, he's done.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
In the past, well, yeah, he has, he has in
the past.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
We've certainly seen productive run games out of Sean Payton
in the past in New Orleans. Sorry I to sneeze ther,
I we've seen it before. I I just I mean
he even wrote it on the play sheet, run the ball,
didn't run the ball, like that's it's one of those
things where and I and I used a lot of asters.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Yeah that's it, he said, yeah, it was working. See
if it's yeah right in tiny tiny print down there
that you that's you kissy. You know. Sean Payton has.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Had uh over the years now, not counting his offensive
coordinating years, but he's had three and I think four
offenses rather that we're in the top ten and rushing
attempts in his career as a head coach, I mean
three or four. Yeah, he had he had four seasons

(09:35):
where where he had a top ten rushing attempt he
never got never cracked the like that never cracked the
top five, but you know, at top ten in rushing attempts.
But two of those years I think were years where
Breeze was hurt towards the end and they wound up
to using a lot of Taysom Hill at quarterback and
running the ball out more. I mean, you remember the

(09:56):
candle hitting game where it was just you know, uh,
so there are I don't know if that's in his
nature and Sean Payton's nature now to be fair, Sean
Payden has not had a top ten passing attempts offense
says twenty sixteen. It's twenty seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty twenty one,
and then his two years in Denver that none of

(10:18):
those were top ten in passing in most passing attempts previously,
Now with Drew Brees, he'd been two two to four
two to you know. So when he had Drew Brees,
I mean, he was just throwing the ball over the
yard and they were twentieth, twenty sixth thirtieth in rushing attempts.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
But he got more into the.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Run right around the time Breeze's arms started falling off
back a By twenty seventeen, they started doing more rushing,
you know, and they wound up top half of the
league in rushing attempts in most years. Last year the
Broncos were thirteenth in the NFL and rushing attempts, which
it feels high based on the amount of running, you know,
but some of that case bone Nicks were.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
On the ball, yeah, yeah, which.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
If you read the articles from I believe Albert Breer.
There were several Payton articles over the weekend the Albert
Breer article I believe had a quote in there where
he talked about incorporating more rpo stuff because that's what
Bow likes to run. So we may see Bow running
the ball more this year. But also, isn't that why
you go out and get JK. Dobbins in free agency

(11:18):
and draft R. J. Harvey in the second round because
you want to have more emphasis on the running game.
Or do you think the running back room last year
was just so below his standard that he knew he
had to get someone regardless if that shifts the game
plan going forward.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
He's both.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
I mean, I think that the personnel last year, but
I think the offensive line didn't get the push that
it needed to at times. I know we have all
the analytics services, the Pro football focuses and stuff. They
all they don't really blow up the offensive line saying
it's great, number one, one of the best offensive lines,
and in terms of pass protection they are pretty good.
I don't know that I would rank them that high

(11:54):
in the run component of it. It didn't feel like
they were getting necessary push a lot of times.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Yeah, Well, the good thing about it is we will
find out. We will find out. So no, I don't
know if we'll find out in the preseason because Sean
not going to show a lot in the preseason.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Well, Sewn doesn't like so this is a thing. Sean
Payton lets his.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Offensive coordinators basically build a game plan to call the
offenses in the preseason, so he's not given anything away
about what he wants to do. I guess Joe Lombardi
showed to run and Dams Webs show to run, which
is why you saw.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
I think it was that Colt's.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Preseason game where we were slinging it all over the
yard and all that stuff. That wasn't Sean Payton, that
was Joe LOBBARTI those guys were running the offense I
day because Sean Payton didn't want to give away any tendencies.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
Yeah, yes, they don't.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Don't even I'm not even called any plays, so nobody's
going to know what I'm doing, what I'm thinking.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
And that's my design.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Sean Payton is notoriously famous for wanting to make sure
that he does not become predictable. However, that at times
has led to a coming full circle and make the
impredictable because he goes out of his way to do
the thing that you wouldn't think that he would do,
thus doing the thing that you would think he would do,
he got been confused with that one.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
We just created and option. He's a little evil genius. Yeah,
he's I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
I am hoping that we have a commitment to the
ground game this year, because the only game that I
remember that we truly had a commitment to the ground
game was in the end of the game the first
game against Kansas City, the one that ultimately led to
the block field goal, where we had like that six
minute drive or it was just ball control and it
was like the only time we did that all year,
but we had a commitment to it. We were hitting,

(13:28):
we were hitting the you know exactly what we wanted
to do. That that was the only one that felt
like that we just, you know, we could do whatever
we wanted.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
And I want I want to see more of that.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Did we have a good ring game when we had
what was it National tight Ends Week?

Speaker 1 (13:45):
National tight Ends Day?

Speaker 3 (13:47):
I thought we had a nice run game that week too,
to play action pass and all that.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
That would have been the what was that fourth weekend
of October? I think if I if I remember correctly.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
I could be wrong on that, so one hundred percent
on me to that, but I'm pretty sure that would
have been the last the fourth weekend of October last year.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
But i'd have to I have to go back in.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
Those Okay, I'll be the Panthers and I was one
hundred and two yards Russian. We had two twenty five
a week before against New Orleans though.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
The Yeah, I would have been the Panthers game, I believe.
I think you're right. I have to go back and look.
I have to go back and look at the all
the receiving too. That's the other part, because I don't
know that was at the the game with all the
tight end stuff. Yeah, because Troutman had four forty five
and a Tuddy in that one, okay, so yeah, yeah,
but so we only had like a what was it
rushing sorry, one of two yeah, one of the yeah,

(14:38):
Javante seventeen for forty four, Julie eight for forty seven,
bow five for forty yards on a touchdown, and I
think that's about it.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Sorry, Franklin had to carry I think, yeah, man, I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
I mean, it's just one of those things where you wonder,
like what was. There weren't too many great rushing performances.
And I'm not even saying that that Kansas City game
was a great rushing performance per se, because I don't
remember exactly what we did in terms of yardage, but
I remember Estimate had like fifty three yards and Mims
had a couple of carries. McLoughlin because wasn't Javonte hurt
didn't get like one carry and.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Then he got hurt. Yep, yep, he was done. And
this so it was. It ended up being Jaliel and Estimate,
But it was timely runs. It was just like we
got what we needed. We got the right push when
we needed it. In that game, it felt like to
me and the defense boat out too. Well.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Yeah, I mean it's you know, anytime you hold my
homes to that, that's that's where you had the best?

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Uh was our best rushing performance last year's the Saints game? What?

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Yeah, it was the Saints and seventy five of those
yards were bow Nicks and Russia's seventy five yards. I
had Davonte with eight yards, Jalio with thirty five, and
Estimate with twenty nine.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
That's that sounds right? See that was that was gonna say,
because I remember it had to be. It was one
of Agast Sorel's NFC South teams that we had the
the best rushing performance.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
But how do we get back to that? And it's
not like New Orleans.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
New Orleans offense was terrible, but their defense was decent
last year.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
By the way, they might be the worst team in
football this year. That's crazy.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
That's that's how quickly things can change in the league, though.
I mean, you can go from being a good team,
a playoff team, to bottom of the barrow.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
I've talked to people at multiple different camps and I
would suggest that New Orleans, the New York Jets, and
the Minnesota Vikings offenses look absolutely terrible.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
To start.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Training camp, Justin Fields had had a series of four
days where he went sixteen for sixty in team and
had something like ten twelve interceptions.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Jets, Yeah, I was like, terrible. Who's Oz in New York? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Aaron Glenn hired it isn't it? I want to say
it's Nick. What's his name?

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Kayley? Nick? Is it Nick Keayley? Or is he in
Houst Tannert?

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Yeah? He was one of the assistants for the Rams. Okay,
he went he's the man. There's gotta be a rough job. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
And then you got Kellen Moore who just took over
for the Saints.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
There are people think he could be one and done there.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
They are going to be miserably bad this year. They
got who they're not ready for that. They don't want
that down there.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
They drafted Tyler Schuler, Yeah, Spencer Rattler, and they might
be going back to the brown bags.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
It looks bad down there. Arch Manning next year. I
don't think he's coming out. I don't think so either.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Everyone's gonna try to get this number one pick and
then he's gonna stay in another There's gonna be some.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
Coaches getting fired. He might be a one and done.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Uh huh.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
And I'm gonna tell you guys, I'm gonna put it
on the inside of report for the game on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
But I give you all that are listening right now,
little preview.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
They don't sleep on Nick Saban going back to the
pros Bronos Country to night back after this, someone nine
on everybody bags on the preseason. But is there anything
in particularly you guys are looking at against the Niners.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Well, I'll say this, this is the way I've always
said it.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
In the Wale said in the preseason, everything matters except
the final score. In the regular season, nothing matters but
the final score. And so you're you're evaluating every rep,
every every rep that a guy's get and you're looking
for that's how guys like Torell Davis get their breakout.
You break out moment. The kickoff team messed on the guys,
and it's only because he missed the flight. He couldn't

(18:18):
get a flight book out of Japan. But then hang
it up. Is crazy, that's how close it was. Dude,
never having the career of Key, I'm glad. I'm glad
all because I'm glad to say, you know, but he's
been great, great to me, you know, And so it's
it's it's funny how those things can turn on a dime.
And that's that's the thing. In those moments in those games,
those things can turn on a dime.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
You know.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
The reason that Trevor Simbion was the quarterback instead of
Mars Sanchez was they put Mark back out there for
a minute. Mark to another thing came out after halftime
through another interception instead of leading the drive down the
field and they put Trevor, Sibby and Simmy and Cook
from there just like that, just like that, And so
that's you know that, it's how those things can go.
Sometimes sometimes you can make plays out there and just
you know, uh, establish yourself and become a guy.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
And so may you advantage those opportunities when you have them.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
That's right, And there are opportunities to be had because
there is some Sheridan Burne at the bottom of Rush.
You and I were talking during the break, but you
know that's safety rooms all crowded, all of a sudden,
man cuts.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
There's gonna be some some tough decisions to be made
there because the competition is so it's so tough.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
You know who Faga Joe's gonna make the team just
because they're the Star Wars. You know at PJ if
he's healthy, just by virtue of his experience, probably gonna
be the third guy. Then you got Devin Key, and
then after that you got four guys that that are
fighting for zero or one spots, and that's JL Skinner,
keidred Smith, the Laryn Turner, Yell, and Sam Franklin.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
And Franklin offers some special teams. So do you think
Devin he's made it?

Speaker 2 (19:37):
I think I mean, I would not put him as
a lock, but I would say that if I had
to pick four right now, he would be number four
from okay, okay, So I mean, but that's what you got,
four guys fighting for one maybe zero spots.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
Man.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
Yeah, and and we know special teams are gonna come
into the picture.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
It does, and you only play those. Only two of
those guys play special teams. That's Sam Franklin and Jael Skinner.
By the way, it's so funny with Skinner's out there.
He just looks different, you know.

Speaker 5 (20:01):
He he's so big, and you're like, wait a minute,
what are they They have a defensive end back there.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
Yeah, he's very he does.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
I mean, it's just it looks different when he's out
there with a president teamer two a little bit.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Yeah, you know he was hurt, he was hurting last year.
But yeah, he special teamer for sure. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
I just I mean, that's some saying that you got
four or five guys fighting.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
For one one spot.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
But that's a from the coaching standpoint, that's a beautiful
problem to ha.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Well, that's a great thing from an organizational standpoint.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
But yeah, I know, but when you when it comes
down to it, it's it's kind of hard because some
guys are pretty close right there and there, and then
you got to make a decision about who's you going,
who you're gonna keep, and who you're going to let go.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
So to answer the texts question, basically, we're looking for productivity.
We're looking for dudes to stand out. We're looking guys
that are bringing the effort, yeah, and bringing the effort,
not pulling up, you know, but going all out to
make the play.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
And to be clear, we're talking about guys who are
we'll probably back ups because yeah, you're not gonna see
much of the starters.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Well yeah, uh, I think you're gonna see two series
of the offense out there. I think you're gonna see
I think you gon see two series of the offense
out there.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
But it's not gonna be enough to really gauge. No, no, no.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
They want to go out there and get a couple
of scores and get some confidence in this thing because
they've been going up against their own defense, which is
really good, and not been looking all that great in camp,
you know, so far, and so I think they want
to put some confidence in him. So I think we'll
see the offense for a little bit, but you're not
gonna see extended play from the starting defensive people, especially
guys that have come back off injury, guys like Greig
green Law or Fonga guy Alex Thing, the guys who

(21:30):
come back off injury or have been a little thinged up.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Yeah, you're not gonna risk that. Yeah, well you want
to see what you want to say them anyway. Yeah,
I want to see them first game of the sea.
That's what I want to say.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
If to be more succinct, If there's any area I'm
gonna be focused on, it's the linebacking group, those backup linebackers,
because you know Benito and Cooper and Singleton greenlow starters, right.
But I'm looking at Dondratt, Tillman, I'm looking at Jonah Ellis.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
I'm looking at Leavel Bailey, who's had a heck of
a training camp. I'm looking at you.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
Know, guys like that, uh this, Hugh Robinson. I'm looking
to see those guys and who's and if they're ready
to be the next man up.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
In these kind of games.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Yeah, I'm looking for as that Imergers too, yeah with
a h.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Alice is not going to be out too long. Green
Law Singleson probably won't play much.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
But Lavelle Bailey, who's had a great training camp, as
somebody to kind of get on number fifty six out there.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
He makes the play. Even last year he made some
play he did, and he's gonna.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Have a lot of opportunity with with Drew Sanders out,
with Singleton and green Law not you know, probably not
playing much that could he'll have an opportunity to show
out and showcase his ability. And then the corners situation,
you know, we know who, we know who the starters are. Deep,
we know we know certain Riley Moss, which Riley Moss
would be a starting corner about ten teams starting Corvell

(22:42):
one on about ten teams in this league. Well I'm
someone saying cebe one, he would be cbe one on
about yeah yeah, yeah, but we know sir Tan mosshot
a Barron. We know this After that is really you
know who's making this roster. Who's the next man up?
If one of those guys is out for a little bit,
he's tomorrow math that is going to have a research
as Chris Abrams drain. Is he able to step up?

(23:03):
You know, Jakeuan, he still got something in the recee Taylor.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Jakeuan is a man. Yeah he's in I'm statement slot.
Yeah he's in. But well a bright starting but okay,
we'll see, We'll see. He and John the air playmakers
Man Amams.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
Drained though, Tomorray mathis. You know, can can any of
those got Ree Taylor? Can any of those guys stand
out be the next guy for this football team?

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Just like at the sainty position, how how effective are
you at special teams? Because if you're not going to
be playing at the cornerback position starting, you got to
contribute some other way and you got to make yourself
valuable in the eyes of the coaches, especially coach. He
talks to all the coaches and he lets them know, hey, man,

(23:51):
I need this get on special teams. So guys who
make the mistake of blowing off special teams, yess what, man,
those coaches man, they are talking to each other.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
And if you're doing a great.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Job and that best team's coach feels like.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
He needs you, it's what you're gonna make a team.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Yeah, I would have see these guys though, and they'll
need to do that. They have to contribute in special teams,
so want to do that. But I also I want
to see them out there making places because the starters
are gonna be out there. There's gonna be your oportunity showcase.
This is your DNA. Yeah, it take your DNA. And
so this is you're not just showcasing your wares for
your own coaches. You're not just saying hey, don't cut
me on other teams too. You're looking a you're showcasing

(24:32):
for every other team that's out there right now, saying, hey,
if they don't want to make me a starter, I'm
gonna put tape out here.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
So good.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
You want to make me a starter, want me on
your squad, and you want me on your you know
you're fifty three, and so this is your opportunity. This
is at eminem moment. You only get one, one shot,
one opportunity, mom spaghetti.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Hey.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
And and also like I know when when I when
I was released from the Broncos and I went to
the Jets, you know, I thought that like most teams
in the NFL, they're run pretty similarly, but I found
out they're not.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Right. Teams are drastically different.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
Now. I didn't have a bad experience fortunately with New York.
You know, great guys on the team, but it was
just run differently. You know, I don't even think I
saw the owner one time when I was at who
owned the Jets back there was it, what are your
I forget I don't even have I never saw. Yeah,
but mister Bolden, he was there all the time. Uh,

(25:36):
Greg and Carrie, they're there all of the time. They're
watching practice, you know, they're they're they're available to say
hello to for the players. So I think the ownership
has to have a visible presence, and they have that now.
But I'm saying that just to say that, don't take
this opportunity for granted, right, I mean, this is great team,

(26:00):
great organization, great city to play in, great fans.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Is not like that everywhere. Go out there and leave
it on the field. Man, Leave it out there on
the field.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Man.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
Do everything you can to make this team.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Make it undeniable, make it so they can't cut you.
They can put tape out to this so good they
can't cut you. That's what That's the same advice I
give every year. If you're not the best guy on
your team at your position, put tape out there so
they can't cut you, right, They don't ever assume anything.
I think it was Leon Hess, the owner when you
were there. I think it was the last year. Oh okay,

(26:32):
right right, Yeah, leon Hess was this last year because
he was selling to Woody at that point.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Okay, but yeahs it is.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
And the Broncos had a different culture. They do have,
I think, a different culture than a lot of places.
You talk to people who played for the Broncos played
for multiple other teams, and they'll say that every time.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
I guess it's just it's just different.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
Here by Evin Ingram's comments earlier this training camp, where
it was easy to be the first guy in the
building for the Jaguars, now it's hard because all these
guys are showing up early and putting in the work.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Yeah, that's that's It feels the good to be on
the team.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Like, if you're a guy who really wants to win,
it feels good to be around some other guys that
feel that same way.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
They have that same love for the game.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Right Excellence replicates, Yeah, you know that only takes one
match to burn the light of thousand trees, right boy?

Speaker 1 (27:15):
So I'm just saying I always left that all out
cool cha right the way.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Somebody had the video of you knocking Okoye out set
to this song on two I saw the other day's like.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Oh my god, it's his favorite song and the moment
and I didn't knock him out.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
You know what, regious, career whatever, It's fine than anybody
else ever did.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
That was the moment.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Like, I don't know if I told you this, I
told the story before that I was watching that moment.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
I was living in Kansas City at the time. I was.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
I watched it, and that was the moment I fell
in love with football. That moment when the unstoppable force
met the immovable logic. Yeah, dude, I was like, I
don't know how to explain it to you, but that
was the moment when football clicked for me.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Like I was like, oh, oh that's how we do. Oh,
there we go.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
So like that was I don't know why, but that moment,
like I'm watching it on TV and I was you know,
I'm a Chiefs fan back now, I was a kid
growing up in Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
I was Chiefs fan.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
I was like, oh, you know, but I watched so
many plays of you know, before I got to the
League of running lot doing that.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Yeah, I'm talking about running into people full speed.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
And and then when I got here I saw Dennis
Smith doing I'm like, dang, this dude's on another level,
and I just I wanted to replicate what they were doing.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Let's see, you look over to the UK. I can't
pay the week lake.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
I gotta be you know, you look over the other
guy and it's it's like it's competitive.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
It's not competitive, but it sort of is.

Speaker 6 (28:36):
Yeah, I mean it wasn't competitive because it's like for me,
I'm I.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
Was a younger, young, younger guy, and I'm just I'm.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Trying to learn and I'm watching everything he does. Man,
everything tells me to like, okay, yes, sir, all right.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
I'm not going to be the one that the vets
around here looking like damn Matt Water. Man.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
You know, I'm not going to be the one angle me. Yeah,
you know, I can totally relate to that mindset.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
I was We're talking a little bit during the break
there like mine' that's on some of this kind of stuff,
Like I sort of get, you know, back today I
had to like they kill her instinct, like I would
goof around for a while, which I do on the show,
and I think people can gotta get it everything. But
that was but see I was that guy though, like
I would goof around for a while until it came
down to, oh, we might mess around, lose this thing.
Now I gotta I gotta turn it on. Yeah, And
so that that was the thing. And it wasn't just

(29:18):
that sport. It was every sport. Like I I messed
around in tennis for a while and then I get
that I'm like, Okay, now I gotta turn it on.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Otherwise I'm gonna lose. He's a pt peer, a prime
time player.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
I kind of. I mean, I just I don't know
I had.

Speaker 5 (29:31):
You had that mentality though in your Baxxing is like
like you're fine, I'm major playing the game for a
minute and then you're like, oh wait, I ain't gonna lose.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Yeah, now wait a minute, I ain't gonna lose. That's
how we're in the Pro Bowl. Yeah, back in the day,
everybody's having fun. You get to the fourth quarter.

Speaker 6 (29:44):
Yeah, the second half we come out like, hey, we
pay everybody to come over, and we got a company's
companies trips, these Hotel.

Speaker 5 (29:53):
Rohler's out there blowing up a Potter boy.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
That's one of my whole time favorites too.

Speaker 5 (29:59):
I know here but to his credit, you got that
butter did pop back up?

Speaker 3 (30:07):
To his credit pop right back up?

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Yeah, yeah or whatever. But like, that's there is something
to that. I think.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
I mean that that was what I That's what I
attributed the t bow thing to.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
Like maybe he.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Was just kind of messing around for a while and
then all of a sudden, you get to crunch time
and I gotta make it happen or we're gonna lose.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
You get that feel.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
I don't know how to explain it to people who like,
if you've never been a competitive environment, if you get
that feeling the pity or stuff like I hate to
lose and I hate to lose more than I love
to win. I got hate to lose, okay, And so
for me, like that's the moment where I'm like, oh no, yeah,
this game won't talk that talk because I'm about to
walk that walk.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
But unfortunately, like in team sports, it's like sometimes you
can only control so much. True, And I remember, we've
been in the huddle sometimes been and offense is running
the ball and we can't stop them. And Bro, that's
that's the defeatst that's a terrible feeling.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
I don't think I could ever play defense because you're reactive,
like you're not. Like I wanted the ball, I want
the pall. Yeah you know what I mean? Like I
want to I want to dictate to them. We see
the whole thing is on offense. Somebody else is also
in control. Because if if the coach don't.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Call your number, or if we'll put the quarterback, don't
throw you the ball there, you're receiver in the quarterback,
then throw you the ball.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
Guess what?

Speaker 3 (31:27):
Yeah, now you the quarterback, got control of what you're
gonna do.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Put me back at que, put the ball in my hands,
and the game.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
We want see what's thet Jimmy Vagutti for the replacements
when the game's on the line, winners want the ball.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Yeah, just saying yeah, you want it. But what if
you don't get it to you, you give it to
another guy. I ain't give it away, Okay, I call
him my own number. We're keeping.

Speaker 6 (31:49):
But I think, yeah, I think receivers they gotta have
that mindset.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
The I don't care who gets the ball, but you
gotta get him involved. Receivers.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
You gotta get him involved early too, Like that's the
other they keep their head in the game. You gott
get him involved early.

Speaker 3 (31:59):
Some some are just great teammates.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Ros Smith, he didn't have to have the ball all
the time. That's due. I'm going to block.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
I'm gonna do it all everything I gotta do. I
don't care who gets the credit as long.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
As we win.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
But Rod's a different dude. Rod's not trying to div
out like some of the receiver you don't want to
talk about.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Oh yeah, you know.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
So there's some of the receivers like there's meet me Sean,
you know. Yeah, give you the ball, coach, give me
the damn ball. That's right, that's right. If I don't
get that ball, who has the problem?

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Yeah, that's yeah. We've seen that play out in the
locker room too many times. Who's player of the game,
this game play this preseason game.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Who's you? Who's yould play the game? Player of the
game player? We should we should all be watching for.
I'll give you one, give me one, katib blowner, Okay,
the big tight end, let gonna get you one.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
All right, all right, that's my dude too.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
I'm the president of the Devon Vaya the fan Club,
just saying so even always goes too fast, man, we
gotta hit a break, yes, sir, appreciate you, buddy.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
A brother. Can't wait Brockles Country Night back after this
