Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Benjamin ol Brian Dick Ferguson Zach Sieger's here with

(00:02):
You five six six nine zero is the text line.
Thinks Nick Cosmidor for joining us in the last segment,
Steve at Water joining us in the first hour. Right
back out to the ukwait Commas for the hot line though,
and bring on Frankie's film. Frankie Abbott somebody we love
having on despite his questionable choices in drinking. Frankie, how
you doing.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
I'm doing fantastic, Ben How are you tonight?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
I'm doing pretty well.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Brother.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
We had one preseason game under our belt. Little bit
of complaining from the Twitter populast about r J harvey
bounce and runs outside. I saw one that he definitely did,
and there was another, you know, kind of questionable, But
overall I think it was too too bad. I just
think that it's a guy who's athleticism in college allowed
him to get away with that because he was often

(00:43):
the fastest guy on the field, and he's going to
have to learn a little bit more in the pro
game to be a little bit more patient and letting
things set up in order to be cutting back instead
of just running everything outside.

Speaker 5 (00:53):
Yeah, I mean I will say, you know, you expect
that kind of learning curve for rookie back, but what
was exciting is that we seeing a guy who came
down to that side and has the explosiveness to do
that for the first time with the dever running back
in what feels like a couple of years now.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I thought all the.

Speaker 5 (01:07):
Running backs at a really good job at just showing
off that like extra little bit of juice because they've
had this lack of ability the past three years to
kind of turn these singles and doubles into more of
these home run hits. So I came away actually really
excited with what I saw from R. J. Harvey, even
though it was, you know, pretty minimal. Like seeing a
guy that once we get him into space, he's going
to be able to create so many big plays for
the offense is really exciting.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Now. Often when we talk football, obviously the conversation is
always about the officer side of the ball and more
importantly the quarterback.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
Spend a little time on a defense.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
John Franklin Myers, your thoughts, I know how I feel
about him, Well, what are your personal thoughts watching this
camp and watching him in that first game against the
forty nine ers.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I mean, JFM is incredible.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
He should have he probably should have been like nearly
an All Pro last year. He had such an incredible
year seeing the profit they were to be able to
get from giving the gest you know, a tune of
Sandwich and being able to get a player of his caliber.
And now, I think you know, you saw in the
preseason game Nick Nito kind of got the highlights shine,
but he was also working interior offensive lineman back in
the quarterbacks lap that I hope they pay him as

(02:14):
quickly as possibly because he's the guy I think you
really want to keep around and right now, I think
his price is only going to go up throughout the
season with how big these interior defensive lineman contracts are
sortin to be nowadays.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Yeah, and that's that's one of the things I think
JFM is probably the odd man out when you look
at the contracts being gold out. Still waiting on Nick
Bonito obviously, but that'll get done. They're waiting on Hendrickson
and you know, on Parsons to raise that floor. Nope,
don't get that done. But you know, JFM does kind
of feel like the odd man out. Broncos go out
draft to Saviian Jones at LSU, and you know, normally
you would think, you know, having Henderson back there, although

(02:46):
he's hurt, now, is there any kind of maybe raised
eyebrow at defensive line depth with his team.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
At least for me, No, I mean, the loss of
handing thing's going to kind of hurt a little bit.
But I think they are still four guys deep. I mean,
Malcolm Roach even made a couple of plays in that
last game. I know, I forget what sad exactly was
that he had one of the highest run stop rates
of all defensive tackles in the league last year, at
least on like a person at basis. So I still
think they're pretty solid out there. Where it gets a
little bit worrisome for me is definitely that second level.

(03:18):
I know that's kind of a concern for everybody, Like, yes,
you're able to bring in Drake Greenlaw, but he didn't
really do anything to really bolster the position. Outside of that,
you have Singleton who still isn't playing yet. You know,
he's got the surgery coming out. Drew Sanders is still
basically a complete question mark. We don't really know what
he even is as a player.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yet because we just haven't seen it. So that's a
little bit.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
More of the area where I'm concerned. But I think
the front, the guys upfront that they have, like they've
got solid depths right now, And like you said, maybe
a guy like Stavian Jones working with some of the
pass rush coaches and the defensive line coaches that have
turned so many guys in the stars last couple of years,
he can kind of come into something as well as
like that fourth.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
Fifth guy when we look at Troy Franklin, I mean,
how did you like from year one? Now? I guess
the intentionality that he's now displaying because I know there
are a lot of fans who were down on him
because he had an opportunity to have a couple explosive catches,
he was not able to haul those in. But now
he seems as though he's kind of rounding into form.

(04:15):
But what do you think about the intentionality with him
now opposed to what we saw in year one?

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I completely agree. Just seeing him move around.

Speaker 5 (04:24):
The football field, he looks just like he's just moving
a little bit different. It looks like he's a lot
more comfortable and comfortable like in his own frame. I do,
like I you know, I have no idea, but it
looks like he at least kind of packed on a
little bit. He looked a little bit kind of thicker
at least on the broadcast angle and on the film angle.
So I think that helped out a little bit. And
like you said, he just seems to have so much
more intent when he's running his routes, and he's able

(04:46):
to kind of show off a bit more of that
quickness because last year, I think he was able to
show off that straight line speed, but we never really
saw him create a lot of separation ability, whether it
was you know, in our outbreaking routes. Now having him
kind of have more of that dynamic element to his
game and seemingly having the ability to work over the
middle consistently, I mean that's going to be huge for
the offense as a whole. It will be great for
his progression as a player.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Talking with Frankie Aviod at Frankie's film on Twitter, as
we go into this joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals,
who were you most excited about, you know, sort of
seeing in this second preseason game, who who kind of
put himself on the map in that first game that
you really want to see another exposure of.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
I want to see more Blake Watson.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
I liked kind of how he handled himself, especially working
out of their gun runs. They still haven't really found
the recipe to be able to be a little bit
less one dimension in the run game.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
It was a lot of under center stuff. When they
were working with r. J.

Speaker 5 (05:39):
Harvey when has to make him in the game was
pretty much all under center. So having a guy like Watson,
who I think can kind of take more of those
out of the shotgun, you know, let me just dive
in inside zone and flust it open for a little
bit more like fifteen yards, I think he can kind
of be that guy for this offense. Also showed a
little bit more explosiveness in the past game, so I'm
really hoping to get to see a little bit of
him in this, especially because the Denver's back at offensive

(06:01):
blind just always looks so good in these preseason showings.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
Now, the Broncos is set to practice against Arizona, and
in preseason usually we see this happen a lot of
joint practices, but maybe not as back to back as
the Broncos are facing now. Last week Thursday in San
Francisco this week against Arizona car News.

Speaker 6 (06:22):
Are you're a fan of these joint practice.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
And do you really think that teams get all the
work that they need from these practices.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
I mean, I'll be honest, I don't really have much
shot put it, just because I obviously haven't structured or
been a part of a joint practice.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
But it seems like they get a lot out of them.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
I mean, you kind of seem to hear a lot
of the coaches say that they're able to practice a
lot more of the in season situation stuff that they
don't get to do just you know, going to the games,
not everything's going to get to pop up. So I
do think it's a great opportunity, especially with the fact
that you know, you want to get.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
These starters reps.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
So many coaches, like along that McVeigh tree, they're not
playing a lot of their star players in the preseason game,
so it really does give you the opportunity to, hey,
let's get these guys, you know, a little bit of
rust on the car, and let's try to put some
miles on before we have to face these guys in
the regular season. So I think It's a good thing
and make a lot of sense to me as long
as guys aren't getting hurt on my favorite teams.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Fair En, I'll talk with Frankiamvitt shift to go around
the league a little bit more. Is there any teams
that you feel like are set for a surprise season?
You know, I've talked about the Arizona Cardinals for a
couple of weeks, But are there any other teams out
there you think could overachieve in surprise this year?

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Over achieven surprise? I mean, not really too crazy.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
I really like what the Texans are doing. I mean,
I think kind of their offensive line scared you know.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
The begins out of me.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
But outside of that, I think they've got a really
solid group on defense. I mean, they probably have arguably
the best pass rush in the league, Denvers right up
there as well. But I think they're really one of
those teams that I am a big believer in DJ Stroud.
I think if they can just kind of make themselves somewhat,
you know, doable in the ass protection game, I think
that can be a one.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Team to get to watch.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
Nico Collins, you know, one of the best receivers in
the league, that it wouldn't surprise me if they're kind
of one of those, you know, maybe eleven and six
teams going to the playoffs. That ends up just being like, oh,
they can drop thirty five on you in the wild
card game and then look out.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
You know what, here's what I'm going to be looking
for tomorrow when you look at the one on once.
Because when you look at the wide receivers for the
Arizona Cardinals, I mean, other than Greg Dortsch, a lot
of these guys are big body guys. And you know
the Broncos have big body wide receivers. And the first
name you think think about Colton Sun, but Devon Veley.

(08:39):
And Devon Veley has a fan group here and he's
sending right next to me and Benjamin Albright and he's
waving this banner for Devon Bley.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
And let me full of transparency. I have nothing against Vla.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
And I think he's going to merge into a great
quarterback and great weapons for this team. But looking at
this wide receiver, any guy not named Cortland, Scott Sutton,
or Devon vay Lake, which one of those guys you
think needs to pick it up in this second preseason game,
pick it up.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
I mean, I don't know if I necessarily say pick
it up.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
I'd love to see an explosive play out of like
Marvin Mims or something like that. Maybe Pat Ryan we
get to see a couple more great plays. But honestly,
I'd like to see the guys that kind.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Of keep it up.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
I think we really saw the second group of wide
receivers once Stidham came in last Saturday. I mean, they
kind of all looked fantastic in my mind, is sure
if you've had a couple of big explosives. I'd like
to see Troy Franklin continue to be a guy that
isn't only creating, you know, yards for himself. But I
mean some of just the routes he was running were
able to get other guys so open.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
So I think, you know, the.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
Trio of Troy Franklin, Pat Ryan and maybe Trent Sherfield,
if you can kind of keep seeing that, Hey, you
don't have to just get production out of these top
two guys. I think, you know, Cortland Sutton is a
kind of a you kind of can expect what you're
gonna get out of him. Marvin Mims maybe a little
bit more unknown, but I think we kind I can
visualize the usage these other guys like Melee, like pat Ryant,

(10:04):
like Troy Franklin. If they can be a coin fop
that goes from oh, this guy's gonna give us, you know,
three hundred yards to hey, this can be a seven
hundred yard weapon for us.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
That would be absolutely massive.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
So I think continuing to see stride that of those
guys would be the biggest thing.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Frank Yeah, but with us and telling us unequivocally that
there's a quarterback controversy with Jared Stidham.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
That's so that's what I got out of that answer. Yeah,
the spark which I didn't make a joke about on
Twitter and people thought.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
I was being serious again, and I'm like, oh my god, really, guys,
come on, you.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
Have to think about the source it's coming from you. Yeah,
obviously people are going to think that.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Way, don't They don't They don't get my humor. I
don't know anyway, is er covering here?

Speaker 5 (10:41):
How many?

Speaker 2 (10:41):
How many QB battles have we had in camp over
the last decade?

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Right?

Speaker 6 (10:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:44):
I can't. I can't exist without one.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
I gotta have one, so you know, Yeah, no, I
don't think Sam Ailing or Jared Sidderman a danger of
unseating Bonis anytime soon. As we as we look at
this team, though, the defense does look like it has
potential to be special.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Even in that preseason game.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
I mean, you know, people are up at arms a
little bit, but the reality is you had one kind
of you know, kind of kind of play that got
away from you, that fifty yard ketch to Jakwan, and
after that it was on Jay quad and didn't after
that they went through it and anything, you know, even
the other thing was an offensive mess up. They got
the safety on there. I thought the defense was pretty good.
You're playing without three starters at that point. What what
is the expectation for you knowing that this defense where

(11:25):
they were last year and what you think they.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Can be this year.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
I mean, man, you don't want to just say like, oh,
they're gonna be the best defense in the league, but
it's kind of hard to look at them and say
they won't just be one of those top three units.
They're going to be so disruptive for teams trying to
pass the ball. It's absurd the talent they've stacked in
that cornerback room. I mean, like you said, well, I
think they forced four turnovers against San Francisco, might have
been five. Like they have ballhawks all over the field.

(11:52):
One thing I think is so excited.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
I've always to the advance, chose to defense.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
He gives each guy an opportunity to shine, like he's
gonna you know, guys that have so much fun playing
because you could be playing safety, you might get sent.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
On a lot of with this through season.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
You could be playing on, you know, the defensive line,
as we saw Malcolm Roach.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
You might get dropped into coverage.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
He's gonna give guys the opportunity.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
To kind of do a lot of things.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
And they have so many guys that are just playmakers,
you know, especially in the back end. Like I know
some people aren't the highest on jakeun McMillan. Dude, he
might get beat on a report two, but that guy
three to five times a year it feels like is
going to make an incredible interception happen. And those types
of players just don't really grow on trees. And again,

(12:31):
when you have quarterbacks that they are going to have
to get the.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Ball out quickly against the defense, you want guys like that.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
So having that guy Chris abram Straine has looked good
every time he's kind of put on the uniform.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
On game day.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
Having those guys as your fifth and sixth.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Option is just kind of ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (12:48):
So my expectation and this kind of like, I think
they're probably gonna lead the league in picks. That's kind
of my hope is I just want to see them
create so much habit for these quarterbacks and be able
to just run the table once they get to the players.
But they'll probably have to stop a run heavy team
at some point and that'll be a little scary.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
Frankie watching it.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
In the game against the forty nine ers offensively, I mean,
what were some of your biggest takeaways.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
Were you one of those individuals who were.

Speaker 4 (13:15):
Leaning on the side of, you know, overreaction, Well, the
offense came in with so so much expectations, but they
didn't really live up to the expectations. Or were you
leaning more towards you know what, this is just the
first preseason game. Whatever wrinkles or whatever they need to
work out, they would have that all worked out by
the week one. Where were you leaning when you saw

(13:37):
the final score of the game, and then watching that
first quarter of the first team offense.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
E on it, like, again, you know you had you
had some guffs, but you'd much further have those happen
in the preseason. It's not practice, but we're talking about
practice here. You want to have these kind of errors,
these you know, mental miscalculations from Boonick or whoever. They
may be happened before the games actually count. Let's get
this stuff ironed out. And I think what we saw
from the offense was, I.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Don't know, pretty exciting. They showed a lot of like I.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
Was kind of surprise how many different run concepts they
actually showed in the preseason, Like they were showing off
a lot of gap stuff as soon as the backups
came in, and I was like, oh, we are we
doing that this year?

Speaker 2 (14:15):
I would love that.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
Then kind of seeing them work into more of their
stream game. Yeah, Nicks was still a little quick to
maybe working underneath, but like again, man, it's a preseason.
I'm not that worried if he's you know, a tick quicker,
because he's like, I don't want to risk getting hurt
or any of my guys hurt in the preseason. That's
what I'm saying he's doing.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
And then outside of that, I mean.

Speaker 5 (14:34):
I thought it was pretty exciting seeing you put a
couple jump balls up.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
To Courtland Sutton.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
You probably want to get a few of those out
of the way before the season starts, anyway, So I
don't know, I think it's kind of what you should
expect out of a preseason game. I enjoyed getting to
watch Sean Payton call on offense.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Again, That's always a good time for me.

Speaker 5 (14:49):
So I did way pretty preason. As he said, once
the backups came in, I mean, it was raps and
you really kind of just.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Saw it like this is a very well coached team.

Speaker 5 (14:58):
You know, it might not be the most exciting on
the offensive end. They haven't found the super explosive element
necessarily down to down, but they are pretty consistent that
just moving the football, even if it doesn't always you know,
look the prettiest.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Well, we'll be looking forward to seeing the moving the
ball a little bit more against Arizona Cardinals. Freggie Abbot
at Frankie's film on Twitter, appreciate you join us.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Yeah, of course, man, thanks for having me on.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Guys, absolutely take care. We come back. We got an
NFL six Pack right here in the Brokos Country Tonight.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Ferguson Zach Segers here with you five six, six, nine
zeros of text line. Thanks to Steve Atwater for joining
us in the first hour and a Cosmior for joining
us in the second hour.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
Frankie Abbott for joining us the last houristity part of that.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
He's got a Broncos Country Tonight, dot Com, slash podcast
or rever Good podcast. Apple iTunes, Spotify, the free and
redesigned I Heart Radio, now the Almost naw where you
can get the Taking for Granted podcast if he ever
strikes the band back up again.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
With that, let's get to the NFL six Pack. Time
for the NFL sick Pad.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
I'm gonna trade a lot of beer, insight and inside
information you can't find anywhere else, I know, the.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Top six NFL headlines.

Speaker 7 (16:10):
What so far In this week's patch of the NFL's
Top one hundred players list, Nick Benito has been unveiled
as the number thirty eight player and Micah Parsons has
been unveiled as the number thirty six player. What do
you think about those two being so close together in

(16:31):
the rankings and do you think the deals that Benito
and Parsons ultimately sign wherever those deals are signed and
whenever will be that close.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Oh well, this week's installment of engagement bait, you know,
is what it is. Benito at thirty eight fields, maybe
slightly high for him, but right around you know the market.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
Michael Parsons at thirty six, who's laughable.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
There are not thirty five better players in the NFL
than Michael Parsons that are just aren't. I'm not sure
there are ten better players.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
In the NFL with Michael Parsons. So I don't know
we're doing this, but well I do know we're doing this.
We're having engagement bag where dudess like, Here'sted Parsons too
long because the radiots and talking about this stuff, which
is exactly what they want to begin with.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
In the end, Parsons is going to get a forty
plus million dollars per year deal and Benito will be
the beneficiary of that because it'll be the next one
to sign a deal after.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Him and Pandricks would do you know.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
I like this conversation because you got you know, people
are talking defense for once and not just talking about offense,
and we're talking about two guys are game wreckers. Now,
the significant difference between Nick Benito and Michael Parson.

Speaker 6 (17:39):
Both are excellent edge rusher. They give been the corner.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
But when you look at the versatility that Micah has,
that's the thing that kind of you know, makes him
stand out. But having Nick Benito on this list at
thirty so you say thirty six, thirty thirty eight, the
Parsons is thirty six, right next to each Okay, having
him at thirty eight, that says a lot about the
maturity and the development that has taking place.

Speaker 6 (18:02):
With Nick Benito. So I like where Bonito is.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
But I agree with Ben. I think Michael Parson should
be much higher.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
So why do you guys think he is this low?

Speaker 7 (18:13):
I agree with Ben that it's probably some engagement bait
trying to rile people up.

Speaker 6 (18:17):
But also this is done by via a.

Speaker 7 (18:21):
Ballot of you know, one hundred to two hundred players
or so that vote on the thing. Do you think
there's a sentiment in the league that's anti Michael Parsons
or you know?

Speaker 1 (18:31):
I think the NFL, whoever puts these things together, is
engagement baiting, and this is what this is what it
is like. I don't think these rankings are in any
way honest, I actually hate these things they do every
year because I think they're terrible. But I think they're
terrible on purpose, because you're going to get the people
that love their guy being right higher than they should be,
you get the people that hate their guy being right
lower than they should be, and they're all going to
be talking about it.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
And that's the sole purpose of putting stuff like this out.

Speaker 6 (18:54):
Two she's tied end to.

Speaker 7 (18:58):
Travis Kelsey said in a recent GQ interview that he
feels his production slipped in twenty twenty four because he
was distracted by opportunities in the entertainment realm. Tonight, he
released a podcast alongside brother Jason Kelcey with Taylor Swift
that involved her announcing her twelfth studio album, The Life
of a show Girl.

Speaker 6 (19:17):
Do you think these.

Speaker 7 (19:18):
Distractions will continue to play Kelsey in twenty twenty five
And do you think Kelsey will turn back the clock
this season to his twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Three or earlier form. No, Travis Kelcey is thirty five
years old. He's gonna be thirty six years old here
in a couple of days in October. That's why his
production is declining and has been declining for five years.
Doesn't have anything to do with you know, entertainment or
whatever else. I mean, the guy thirty six years old,
if all the time is undefeated and he's been on

(19:47):
a you know, on a per catch basis, he's been
declining for four five years now. So you know, he
still had ninety seven catches for over eight hundred yards
last year.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
I mean, he was still he could still play in
this league.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
He's just not the same elite guy that he used
to be. I don't think that the entertainment thing is anything.
There's I know that podcast him his brother did Taylor
on tonight. They had one point two million concurrent viewers
at one point, which would be I think a record.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
That i'd be fair a podcast.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Yeah, so they've all, you know, as far as making money,
they've they've got the op they've got that stuff nailed down.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
But the rest of this, I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
He's not turning back the clock and suddenly at thirty
six years old, suddenly, you know, having another fifteen hundred
yard season with double digit touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
I think it's a justification for a lack of performance
in the super Bowl. When he didn't perform well in
the Super Bowl, that kind of blew up everything. That
destroyed the moment for both he and Taylor, because in
my opinion, he was hoping to win a Super Bowl
and ride up into the sunset with her and being
a well kept man, as though Ryan Att was love

(20:51):
to be.

Speaker 6 (20:52):
But that's all this is man and the idea from
saying maybe he was too into the entertainment.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
That tells me that you knew and the fact that
now you claim that you were too much into the entertainment.
That's why your numbers were were not what they were.
But guess what you do. You got a podcast with
your brother, you bring on your girlfriend, and just like
Ben said, those numbers jumped off the pages. So let's
be honest about this situation. You didn't perform well and

(21:21):
call it what it is. Do you got an opportunity to.

Speaker 6 (21:24):
Reclaim that in this year? Yes you do.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
But you manifest your own destiny and this is what
you chose entertainment over your job, which is the major
entertainment that puts you in that that that that echelon
in the first place.

Speaker 7 (21:40):
Yeah, I think it's very funny to talk about in
one interview, Man, the distractions were a real problem last year,
and then within the same week have the largest spectacle
you've ever been apart non football spectacle you've ever been
a part of. I'm just saying the news it's it's
I think that element's funny, and te I agree. I mean,
he's just an older player. I don't think he's magically
gonna turned back the clock. I think you hit the

(22:02):
nail on the head.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Nick. It sounds like a lot of coping to me.
Copia Moziella the drone.

Speaker 7 (22:07):
Free, the Buffalo Bills and running back James Cook agreed
to a four year extension worth forty eight million dollars.
The deal is tied for the sixth highest average annual
value at the position, but that drops to seventh when
you adjust for cap inflation. That thirty It does come

(22:28):
with thirty million guaranteed, though, which.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Ranks third among running backs.

Speaker 7 (22:32):
What do you make of James Cook's contract extension and
who do you think won the negotiation?

Speaker 3 (22:38):
Where was it a win win?

Speaker 1 (22:39):
He signed the deal, so everybody's happy, right It takes
you know, it takes two parties to agree to a deal.
I think it's a it's a win win. I mean,
I think it's a running back. Anytime you get paid,
it's a win for you. But you know, overall, you
know the Bills are all in on this season. I'm
going to tell you right now, they don't. They don't
make noise in the AFC Championship.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Slash makes the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
They're gonna blow that coaching staff out and find somebody who'll.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
Get them there. They're at the end of the rope
with Sean McDermott and having some embarrassing playoff letdowns.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
Well, when you look at the fact of where James
Cook rank, I think he was sixteen and Kyral Williams
was seven because he had two hundred ye had almost
three hundred more yards than Cook. But to me, don't
let allow those numbers to kind of detract away from
the value that James Cook actually brought to the Buffalo Bills.

(23:28):
And Cook was looking for fifteen million, right, but he
settled for twelve.

Speaker 6 (23:33):
I think Carring got about eleventh.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
So I'm I mean from James Cook, I'm not mad
because I went from five to twelve. And I'm not
a mathematic Virginius, but I know that twelve is more
than five.

Speaker 6 (23:47):
So this this is the marriage that they had to
make work.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
And I'm glad that James Cook was a hold in
and not a holdout.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
But how about that Bill's run game.

Speaker 7 (23:56):
You know, you've got Josh Allen, who's maybe the best
rushing cuterback position. You've got James Cook, who's definitely a
top ten, maybe even a top five running back, and
then Ray Davis is a really nice rotational option there
I'm facing on their.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Other Johnson, great scatback.

Speaker 7 (24:11):
So I mean that that backfield between quarterback and running
back is pretty loaded right now for Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Yeah, it's gonna be interest. The question is is James
Cook was a one year wonder with the sixteen touchdowns.
His previous high was two in the previous two years,
So that that's one of those things like he's this
production going to mirror the contract that he signed.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
But congratulations to him for segar the bag.

Speaker 7 (24:31):
He looked outstanding against the Broncos in that playoff.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Four.

Speaker 7 (24:39):
ESPN's Bill Barnwell calculated that the Dallas Cowboys decision to
drag their feet in negotiations with Dak Prescott, Ceedee Lamb,
and Micah Parsons will ultimately cost the franchise over one
hundred million dollars once Parsons signs to whatever contract extension
he agrees to.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
This is, you know, projecting its a little over the T. J.
Watt contract.

Speaker 7 (25:02):
Why do you think Jerry Jones and the Cowboys continue
to operate this way? Do you think this business approach
will ever start to pay dividends for Jerry Jones? And
if not, do you think he'll ever learn his lesson?

Speaker 6 (25:16):
Well?

Speaker 1 (25:17):
No, I mean, if you haven't learned it by now,
you're not gonna learn it.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
You know.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
At this point, the Dallas Cowboys one of their financial
guys whose only experience outside of the Cowboys, who's working
in a fast food chain as a manager back in
the early two thousands. I look, it's Jerry Jones money
to do with what he wants at the end of
the day. And if he chooses to throw it away
because he's got some ham fisted old school approach that
he wants to do to sign the players, that's certainly

(25:44):
entirely his prerogative. It is not, you know, I mean,
I can sit here and laugh at him for being silly,
but at the end of the day, it's his money.
His choice and if he wants to, you know, just
throw money away. Benjamin all Bright, Nick Ferguson are right
here and we will absolutely, you know, help you streamline this.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Process for a for a cut of the proceeds.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
I look at it like this, it's Jeffy Jones being arrogant,
and he's known as being a brutal businessman. Just kind
of look at some of the things that he's done
with the league itself. But being a guy like Al
Davis who's been in charge of everything, he's messing it
up for the Cowboys. He's done this before and it's
never worked well. He did it with Emmett, he did

(26:24):
it with with Dak Prescott, he did it with CD
and now he's doing it with Micah.

Speaker 6 (26:29):
At the end of the day, he paid all three.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
Of those previous players, So he's gonna have to do
the same thing with Micah. But he's got a show.
I'm the big dog in the yard. I run the show,
which he ended up paying in the end.

Speaker 6 (26:40):
So I mean he.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
Said pay the cost to be the boss, right, I
mean at the end of the day, I'm literally paying.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
He's literally paying to be the big dogs.

Speaker 7 (26:48):
Yes, and it's just weird to me because he gets
so frustrated when this comes up in press conferences and
defensive about well, people think I'm not willing to pay
my players.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
I'm very willing to pay my players. No one's saying that.

Speaker 7 (27:00):
They're saying you're going about it in a like Ben's
had a ham fisted kind of backwards and equated way.
The reports that they haven't sent an offer to Micah
Parsons agent because they only negotiated with Mike when the
agent was out of the room. It's it's just insane
what's going on there. They're run like you'd expect backwards
MLB franchise to be runner something, not the largest Tiffany

(27:24):
franchise in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Yeah, and I think you know Jerry likes the circus too.
Though Jerry's pt bottom. He likes the atas to all attentions,
good attention. He didn't mind that part of it.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
So you know, they'll get Michael Parsons done, and they'll
wind up paying more for waiting out.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
To do it, and there'll still be the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
The O of the Day five.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
Closing with a couple of Broncos ones.

Speaker 7 (27:45):
Here ESPN's dan Orlowski ranked the top ten quarterbacks in
seven different categories different quarterback traits, those traits being arm strength,
all placement, throwing mechanics, decision making, pocket presence, running a bit,
and second reactionability. Knicks ranked tenth in both decision making

(28:05):
and second reactionability. He didn't make the top ten in
any of the other categories. What do you think of
Knicks's placement on those all those seven of those lists,
and do you think he should have made the top
ten in any other category besides bo Nicks? Which category
of those seven do you believe is most important to quarterbacking?

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Well, I know, I don't think he should have been
on any of the others. It's certainly not a top
ten arm strength.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
I mean as for the rest of this, I mean
it's it's some arbitrary thing that he came up with.
I mean, you know, in terms of decision making, with
the guy who stepped out the back of the end.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Zone one time and took a safety, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
If he should be the emphatic ut I mean expert
decision making because you know he's got a history there.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
You know. Orlowski was two and ten as as an
NFL quarterback. It wasn't like he was out there like
the world on fire. As far as the rest of
this goes, I mean, and I don't know, I'm not.
I think locally.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
People would probably you know, covetch about this a little
bit and put Nicks a little bit higher, but the
nationally probably not. What's the most important category to quarterbacking?
Decision making? I mean, that's that's easier.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
Well, you know what's the most important category when he
comes to quarterbacking for me?

Speaker 6 (29:20):
Is none of this stuff? You know why? Because the
only thing that matters is wins and losses.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
So if you lose, no one cares where you were
top ten and decision making and you know, second reactions,
no one really cares.

Speaker 6 (29:31):
So that's the only thing that matters.

Speaker 7 (29:35):
Six last one here in ESPN's rankings of the future Outlooks,
they did like a power rankings of what the next
three to five years looks like for every NFL team.
The Denver Broncos ranked seventh overall, meaning they have the
seventh brightest future. They only trail in order here from

(29:55):
first to sixth, the Eagles, the Ravens, the Chiefs, the Bills, Lions,
and the Packers. What do you make of them ranking
seventh on this list? Do you believe there are any
teams they're ranked ahead of they shouldn't be, or any
teams they're ranked behind.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
That they shouldn't well.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
I mean, again, this is like an arbitrary opinion kind
of thing. I don't think they I'd rank them ahead
any of the teams that are on there. I mean,
the Lions would probably be the most sketchy. And that's
simply because you're asking yourself coordinator continuity with do coordinators.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
I think I'd probably put.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
As I'm looking around, maybe the Chargers might be in
contention here, the Steelers might be in contention here to
be put ahead, Maybe the Texans.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
On the NFC side, you know, you got nobody from
the NFC West on this list.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
You know, there's I think there's a few teams.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
You look at, you say, okay, I mean Washington, no Dallas, No,
no Philly or Phillies on here.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
But no Washington with Dallas. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
I mean, you know, I think there's there's five or
six teams that be in contention for a maybe when.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
You think about where they rank these teams is based
on Bo being a young quarterback going into a sophomore season,
but more importantly defensively. But I think that they have
the Broncos I believe right where they need to have them.
But we just kind of need to turn talk into
action production, which they're capable of doing, but we have
to see them turn it into something during the regular

(31:23):
season for most people outside of this market to truly
believe it.

Speaker 7 (31:28):
Yeah, I'm excited. I think the sky's the limit for
the team this year. You know, it's just going to
come down to Canbo, Nicks and the rest of the
young roster make that leap. But I agree that the
future is right. I think it's hard, like you said,
to quantify exactly where it stacks, but this feels about
right to me.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
Yeah, I think you got to see it to believe it,
but you know, well, and we'll get a chance to
do that with Arizona come into.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Town a pretseason game against the Cardinals this weekend. Bring
the Tayway Broncos Country Night backing for this
