Speaker 1 (00:00):
And Nick. I'm really excited to welcome to the program now,
Alisa Hernandez, our new team reporter over at Denver Broncos
dot Com. Alisa, how's it going?
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (00:09):
My good?
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Excited to make my debut on here.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
I know it's a big deal. I get to do
with Nick Ferguson. He's the man. Elisa, you were just
I mean, you just got here. You were over in
Paris covering the Olympics. You've got some experience with NBC
Sunday Night Football, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and you've you
basically flew right from Paris to Denver. Essentially, you just
had your first game day. What stood out to you
about being at Empower Field a mile high and what
(00:33):
was it like on your first couple of days as
the new Broncos team reporter.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
I mean, I had to keep the little kid inside
of me from coming out because it was so magical
just being on the field and being in a being
part of an organization I've admired so long since I
was a kid, and so I had to keep those
jitters inside, especially as I'm talking to some legends and
as well as like Steve Attwater, like got it getting
to work with him was just one of those things,
(00:57):
like I have a signed picture of him that I
got like a fan I don't even know how many
years ago. So to kind of walk in and have
him know my name and be excited that I'm that
I'm joining the team with something that was really magical.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
For me at least. Okay, full transparency.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
I feel the same way when I'm around Steve because
I grew up, I grew up watching him and I fanboy.
Every single time I'm around him, He's like, no, no, Nick,
I'm just I'm just Steve. I'm like, no, You're not Steve.
You are Hall of Fame Steve at Water. But to
let the audience know a little about yourself, tell them,
(01:36):
you know, where do you come from? You know what
are the humble beginnings that you come from.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Well, I am Salvadorian American, so Central American, first generation
here and I was, you know, born in Los Angeles,
raised in Rose City, passing to California. And it's a
plot twist, right because I grew up a Lakers, Dodgers
and Brongo fans. It's like that always gets people because
they're kind of like that doesn't make any sense like,
(02:03):
are you from Denver? Did you ever visit Denver.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
As a kid?
Speaker 2 (02:05):
And I'm like no. So it was one of those
things that when I was growing up and looking for
a team. You know, obviously my brothers are trying to
bring the tomboy out of me, and I'm learning football
and I had to pick a team, and so I'm
really obsessed with horses. And I'm not going to talk
about some of all the Colts, but I'm just going
to say that the Bronco was just beautiful. So I
(02:26):
became a fan of that. And then I was blessed
with sebatt Water and Sharp and TD and l Way
and all those legends that Nick Ferguson made such an
it made such an impact on you growing up. And
then obviously we're blessed years later with Super Bowl fifties.
So it was one of those things that I just
I held strong in LA for Broncos country. You know.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Now I'm here, Alisa, I love it. What's your favorite
Broncos memory, because I do think it's so cool. And
one of the things that stood out to us when
we were interviewing you and talking to you was that
you have this passion for the Broncos of this is
not just a job for you, It's a lot more.
It was part of why we're so excited about bringing
you onto the team. What's your favorite Broncos memory? What
stands out to you?
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Oh Man? December twenty eight, twenty fifteen, Monday Night Football.
It was my first game here in Denver. My soda
froze at the stadium, so that was And it was
the game you know where the Marcus where the agent
mccherrin on that force fumble snap in overtime to send
the Devil Broncos into the playoffs. We won twenty to seventeen,
(03:26):
and that game was so fun and it was so electric,
and just the fans that we were around, they were
just so nice and so great and they were like
happy and shock that we're prolay and here rooting for
rooting for the Broncos. And I remember when we got them.
Me and my brother were the Broncos fans in the family,
and we saw people in ski suits and we were like, wow,
(03:47):
that's a little dramatic, but okay, by the second quarter,
we're like, you think they sell them in the gift
shop because coming down here, you know, But that was
probably one of my favorite memories. Again, it was my
first game. I surprised my brother would it's and it
was the first of many.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Nick I can tell you from going to the team
store with Alsa yesterday she can hit a gift shop.
She walked out with three backs of stuff. Oh my gosh,
I was impressive. Really, you know what that speak.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
I was running around like it was free, like you right, okay,
let me go and pay this real fast.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
So, yes, you know what that that's just the power
of Broncos country for you to tell the story. You
lived in Pasadena, but you was still a Broncos fan.
So for me, everyone has a very unique story. And
when we get great information, we always tell someone. So
I want to know where were you when you found
out that you know you were going to get this position,
(04:45):
and who was the first person that you told?
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Oh man, I was sitting in my hotel room in
Paris studying archery. That was the sport that you were
covering for the next few days. And you know, Eric
gave me a call and he's like, okay, you know
I have a couple quiet. He's a little sneaker at
this guy, because you know, he was like, oh, we
got more questions to ask you, and I'm just like, man, okay,
(05:11):
let's do it. And so finally he was like, how
do you feel about becoming part of the team. And
I was like, well, I'll play with me. My professionalism
went out the wind. All was about you for own,
like right now, It's like, uh no, we're serious. And
I was very excited. And I actually had to keep
it a secret because my parents were coming to Paris
(05:34):
for their belated honeymoon, because they just celebrated forty five
years of marriage, and they were coming and so I'm like,
I can't tell them this over the phone, Like I like,
I have to tell them in person. So I told
my sister That's why I told first, and I was like,
you cannot tell mom and dad. And she's like what.
So I'm like, you can't tell mom and dad. You
(05:54):
have to weigh onto there here in Paris, and you
know they they came in and and you know, I'm extra.
My dad is not an emotional guy, so I always
have to surprise him with stuff, you know, to get
to get to get him to, you know, show a
little tear or some for me. So I actually booked
a cruise for them on the send and literally as
we passed Eiffel Tower, I told him that I got
the job, and it was it was a moment for
(06:16):
my parents, you know, they sacrificed so much for me,
and to be able to give that moment to them
as they're celebrating forty five years of marriage, it was
something I won't forget.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
I think I texted my mom when I got the job.
So you're making me look bad, Alisa. You texted your mom.
You didn't even call her. She was like, thank goodness,
you finally got a job.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah. My dad was like, why you're the gonn BA.
I was like yeah. He's like great, He's like, how
are you gonna do that? From La And I'm like, yeah,
so about that, Yes, yes, no, baby girl got a
move real quick. But you know they're they're super excited
and they're planning to come out for my first official
game home game week two. So really looking forward.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
To that, Alisa, last one for you here. I'm sure
we'll get to talk a lot more football moving forward,
But as we move into the final week of the preseason,
who are you most excited to watch?
Speaker 2 (07:06):
You know, I'm a big defensive buff That's one of
the reasons I love the twenty fifteen teams so much.
No fly zones to Marcus rev Von Miller, all those guys,
and you know, Jonah ellis the rookie. He really caught
my attention just because I was looking over the notes
and stuff, and I really think that those late round
guys recently especially have made such an impact on teams
and they kind of been that X factor, that that
(07:28):
dark horse. So you know, him having a key sack
and he plays in preseason Week one and then having
the forced fumble versus the Green Bay Packers to kind
of continue to feel like the shutout against that team
I thought was really impressive. And Baron Browning had even
said that he sees him getting more comfortable with more reps,
and the more reps he gets, he's going to continue
to grow and you know he's playing that run game
(07:48):
better and that's I know, that's a really big focus
point for this defense. So for me, I know that
offense is fancy and it wins games, but we all
know that defense was championships.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Ooh, I love it, Alisa. Where can people follow you
on social media moving forward?
Speaker 2 (08:02):

I boosted up like two thousand followers, who I honestly
thank you guys, so that you you've rejuvenated that account,

excited about that as Hernandez TV. And then on Instagram,
