Speaker 1 (00:00):
Eagles full back in motions, spinning hand off Javonti Williams
times over the left guard, touchdown Dallas with a pig
playing a thirty three yard Dallas to Lamb. After a
weird beginning of the game, the Cowboys marchdown field, then
go fifty three.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yards for a score from the four.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Of Dallas in the gun.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Eagles third and goals shotgunch neaptter, Hurts, right tackle block Hurts,
Tappittals runs out of the pocket, Cutch inside five times
in touchdowns, piladelf y'all in the quarterback three one Hurts.
I'm a four yard touchdown run.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
Ah.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
What the funk football season is here?
Speaker 5 (00:39):
First two touchdowns of the season from the Eagles and
Cowboys game, courtesy of Westwood One.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Kevin Harlan and Ross Tucker on the call.
Speaker 5 (00:47):
And it is time for the one and only Broncos
color analyst Rick Lewis to join the show Broncos Country Tonight.
I'm your host Grant Smith alongside Nick Ferguson.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Rick.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
What the funk real football is here?
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Man, you could smell the funk football is here, and
that's when you know the funk is good. Where you
can smell it. You know it's good funk and man,
I couldn't be more excited. Same with you guys. I'm
sure good game to start the season tonight. I haven't
been paying much attention to it, honestly, I've been working
(01:22):
on some game prep for Sunday against Tennessee. But sounds
like a good game.
Speaker 6 (01:27):
Yeah, rigg, it is a good game, and I just
have to talk about it really quickly. Former Denver Bronco
Davonte Williams making his Cowboys debut thirty four yards and
two touchdowns on the season thus far. I know your
prime job is kind of paying attention to the Denver Broncos,
but do you think after week one you will be
(01:48):
kind of tuning in to see how Davonte Williams performing
the Dallas uniform.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
I've always liked Jevontay Williams. He's a good kid. Not
a kid anymore, but he's a good guy and he's
a good football player. He got caught here in kind
of a tough situation. I think he kind of got
in Sean Payton's doghouse a little bit and they decided
to move on. And I wish him well, just like
(02:14):
you Nick. I hope he does well there in Dallas,
and he certainly up to a good start. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:20):
I think we're all rooting for former Broncos and hope
to see him succeed elsewhere. Rick Lewis, Broncos color analyst,
joining us on Broncos Country tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
So you said you were.
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Doing a little prep work for the game on Sunday,
Broncos taking on the Tennessee Titans Adam Powerfield at Mile High.
What have you learned so far about the Tennessee Titans?
What stood out to you.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Well? As I mentioned yesterday with Ryan, these guys have
revamped their offensive line. They've added some talent to this
football team, and I wouldn't take them for granted. You
can never do that in the National Football League. They
were horrible last year. They could be horrible this year too,
But they don't know they're bad yet. It's the first
(03:02):
game of the season and so you got to come
out and play some tough football. And the Broncos the
last two seasons. Last year they started oho to two
and the season before oh and three. There's no way
this football team can do that again this year. In fact,
they need to be two to zero when they go
into LA to play the Chargers. So you get off
(03:25):
to a fast start, you get these guys down on
their backs, make them realize like, oh yeah, we're not
a very good football team. So get at them early
and just don't let them keep stay in the game.
You don't want them hanging around in the game but
thinking we got a chance we might be a decent
football team this year. Don't give them that opportunity.
Speaker 6 (03:45):
Rig You know, before we came on the air, we
found out some news about Malcolm Roach with a calf
strain and that's going to keep them out a lineup
for a couple of weeks.
Speaker 7 (03:55):
Do you think that that somehow impacts the team.
Speaker 6 (03:59):
And what they want to do from an interior standpoint
on the game someday?
Speaker 3 (04:03):
You know, man, yeah, it did see that. And I've
had a couple of calf injuries myself. I'm sure you
have two, Nick, and they're really tricky. Sometimes a calf
injury can stick around an entire season where you just
keep tweaking it. I'm a little concerned about that, especially
at that position. He's been such a great rotational player
(04:26):
in that interior line. I think they may have to
see who's available outside somebody who maybe got cut recently
a free agent or something, because he's going to be
a tough guy to replace there in that interior line,
you know. And I'm also concerned about Drake Greenlaw. I
don't know. I'm not saying it's too we should start
(04:49):
panicking yet. I don't know how you feel about that,
but we haven't really seen much of Drake Greenlaw since
he got here, and now that quad injury merges again
and he's dealing with that. You know, the history with
Drake green Law. He hardly played football at all last
year two games, so it's been quite a while since
(05:11):
Drake Greenlaw has played some meaningful football. And that's the
one position where they're really thin, that inside linebacker position.
So I'm not panicked, but I definitely think there's cause
for concern.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
Talking with Broncos color analyst Rick Lewis and one guy,
we are not concerned about Nick Benito getting his payday today.
His teammate Jonathan Cooper joined KOA Sports earlier today talking
about Nick getting that contract and what it says about
the Broncos organization. Wants you to take a listen to this,
Rick and then react to it. On the other side, Yeah,
I feel.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
Like it's amazing, first of all, and it definitely motivates
our guys. Motivates a whole bunch of players in the
locker room just to see that, you know, if you
really put the work in and you know, you get
production on the field and the coaching staff and everybody
just look at you a certain way, and you go
out there and prove it, you know you'll.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Get rewarded for your work.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
And I could be more happy for my guy. Honestly,
he's more deserving than I think people would even give
him credit for. You know, he's a great teammate, he's
my brother, and I've had the pleasure of playing with
him for going on four years now. And Yeah, I'm
just really excited. I'm really proud of him, and I
(06:25):
know this is just to start for us, and I'm
excited for what we can do this year.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
That Jonathan Cooper on KOA Sports earlier today. You can
find the full interview on their podcast page, or you
can hear it on Countdown to Kickoff on Sunday around noon. Rick,
what did you think about the Nick Benito deal and
what does it say about this Broncos organization paying the
guys that they draft and they produce for him.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Man, it says a lot about this ownership group in
Broncos country. We are so blessed to have these owners.
We remember not too far back when the trust was
running the football team and it was a mess most
of the time. These guys came in. They changed their culture.
They changed everything very quickly. They had four extensions before
(07:13):
the season started. And Nick, you know when you're on
the team, when you're on the roster and you see
the owners paying guys like this, it fires you up too,
because you know you can get paid if you perform.
These guys are going to pay you. And also players
around the league. They look at this ownership group and
they put Denver down as a place that they want
(07:35):
to play. They talked to their agents, why go, hey, man,
get me out of here. I want to go to Denver.
So I think it's great, man. The press conference from
Nick Benito was awesome. I thought he was very, very
open and honest with his feelings. Talked about how he
was cried out. Nick, remember that song from Lisa Lisa
all cried out from the agents. I remember that one
(07:58):
very fun. Yeah. In fact, that that's what I thought
of when I heard he said he cried himself out.
For some reason, that song popped into my head. But
it's great, man, This is a great way to start
the year with a lot of enthusiasm by everybody, you know, Rick.
Speaker 6 (08:13):
When we look at this game on Sunday, I haven't
looked at the Vegas numbers, but you have to figure
that the odds are in the Broncos favor.
Speaker 7 (08:22):
Is there anything that you would like to.
Speaker 6 (08:24):
See on either side of the ball in Week one
that you did not see during the preseason.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
I think we know the defense is really good and
is going to be an elite defense. So for me,
it's on the offensive side of the ball, and I
really want to see them run the football. And this
is a team I think you can run on. Last
year they were in the red in just about every
defensive category and pretty much every offensive category. Two and
(08:54):
as I mentioned earlier, they did upgrade their roster, but
I do believe this is going to be a team
team that you can run on. They gave up twenty
one touchdowns on the ground last year. They gave up
more points than any team in the AFC last year. Yeah,
they're gonna be a little bit better. But they do
have a rookie quarterback making his first start, So I
(09:16):
think if they run the ball and just established that run,
it's gonna be a really good day for this football team.
And a fun fact for you guys, I'm gonna give
you some of the stuff that I've prepped for Sunday,
but you're gonna hear it early Denver. Denver has never
faced a rookie quarterback to open a season in franchise history.
Can you believe that?
Speaker 2 (09:36):
That's crazy? How has that never happened?
Speaker 3 (09:39):
How has that never happened in all these years? No,
going all the way back to the very beginning, They've
never faced a rookie quarterback to open a season. Another
fun fact for you, RJ. Harvey switched his number to
number twelve, And who's the best Broncos player that ever
wore number twelve? All you old school of Broncos fans
(10:01):
probably know who it is.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
Zach Seeger's got a got a guess for you, Marlin Briscoe.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Okay, no, nope, it was a quarterback though mid seventies
because Bristol was fifteen, was he not? Yeah? I don't
think he was twelve. Yeah, I think Bristol was fifteen.
Speaker 7 (10:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
Okay, So this guy, this guy's in the Ring of Fame. Guys,
Oh my gosh, we got he's going to get out
of the bag.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
I'll give it to us.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
I'll give you the answer. Charlie Johnson.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Oh yeah, yes, of course he's.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
In the Ring of Fame. He was on the quarterback
the first time the Broncos had a winning season in
franchise history, and that was in nineteen seventy three. He
was the quarterback they went seven to five and two,
and he's in the Ring of fan. Wow.
Speaker 6 (10:52):
Well, there's a little trivia history that I'm sure obviously
you're gonna throw out on Sunday during the pregame show.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Yeah, but I wanted to give you guys a little sneak.
Speaker 7 (11:04):
So you're saying you got more stocked up in the tank?
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Huh yeah, more, I got more. I got more.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Rick's always got all the information, he just has to
squeeze it in in a little eight second segments.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yeah. A lot of times I can't. A lot of
times I can't use any of this stuff during the
game because it moves so fast. But that's why I'm
kind of blowing out a little bit of tonight with
you guys. This is the only thing I can say
is with the phone man with the phone.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
Oh by the way, Rick, we got to what the
funk question from our boss David Tepper.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Okay, are you ready for it? Oh? Yeah, go ahead?
Speaker 5 (11:36):
How does someone lose their season credentials before the season
even starts?
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Oh? Oh man, what's been a rough day? Guys, It's
been a rough day. I felt horrible about that.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
And then you know, got job guard with that one.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Yeah, so that's from Dave Tepper.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Yep, that a bombs you know, us to bring that
up for you.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
Very funny. You know. Dave's a former comedian and he's
showing his chops right there with that what the Funk question?
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Rick, Before we let you go, you have a show
tomorrow night, right with your band, Rick Lewis Project.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Yeah, Buffalo Rose Golden with the Freddie Jones band, And
right now they're doing like a bogo If you go
to Buffalo Rosegolden dot com, use the code Bogo Rose
and they'll give you a two for one. I don't
know how long they'll be doing that, but looking forward
to tomorrow night and looking forward to Sunday even more.
Speaker 6 (12:34):
All Right, Ray, I definitely have to let you toss
this question out to you because the biggest question mark
has been about the run game, and you mentioned about RJ.
Harvey changing is number twelve and there's a lot of
fans who feel as though they didn't really get a
chance to see this team really run the ball. And
there's a lot of meat on it. I mean, do
(12:54):
you what is your level and give it to me?
Maybe an over under that ho Sean Payton is going
to call about twenty run.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Plays on Sunday. Over under you think I'll go over
over to go over on that?
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Okay, I'm gonna play the mystic side of you right there.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Yeah, I think over twenty because I think the Broncos
will have a good lead in the second half and
they're just going to be running the football. I think
for the most parts, I said this yesterday, I think JK.
Dobbins will have a thousand yard season. Yep. I'm gonna
go out there and say that one thousand yards for
JK Dobbins. Last year he had almost a thousand and
(13:39):
he was injured. This it's a thousand all purpose or
one thousand rushing a thousand rushing young seegers.
Speaker 5 (13:48):
Write that down please, by the way, last time the
Broncos had a thousand yard rusher, you guys know, Bill
Lindsay yep, twenty nineteen. Wow, that'd be a big deal.
That'd be a big deal for this Broncos offense. Rick,
We always appreciate your time.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Man.
Speaker 5 (14:05):
You can hear Rick's band tomorrow night at the Buffalo
Rose with the Freddie Jones Band and Golden And of
course you can hear him on the call here on
Sunday countdown to kickoff starting at noon.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
And then Rick and Dave on the call following that.
Speaker 5 (14:18):
Rick, have a great rest of your night, man, don't
lose anything else today.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Yeah, and Dave Temper, you might want to go to
comedy works and see if you can get some stage time.
I'll make a call for you. She'll let you show
up and open a show this weekend. Very funny.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
We'll pat that along to the Boss. Rick, you're the
best man. I always appreciate the time.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
All right, guys, Thanks.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
Nick.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
You ever lost anything really important before?
Speaker 6 (14:46):
Yes, my wedding ring a big one right there. You
know what maybe I'll tell you after the break.
Speaker 5 (14:57):
Okay, that's fair because you know who we got coming
up next, Yes, your guy Blaine Blaine Bishop, gonna help
us preview the hit Man, helping us preview the Tennessee
Titans that's going to be coming up next on Broncos
Country Tonight. I'm Grant Smith filling in for Benjamin Albright
alongside Nick fergus and Nick Ferguson and Zach Segers.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
We'll be right back with Blaine.
Speaker 5 (15:18):
Bishop on Broncos Country Night on KOA A fifty am
ninety four one FM go'st Country Tonight.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
I'm your host, Grant Smith filling in for.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
Benjamin Albright, Zach Segars behind the board alongside my guy
Nick Ferguson.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
And it is almost here.
Speaker 5 (15:38):
Broncos Week one coming up on Sunday at Empower Field
at Mile High taking on the Tennessee Titans. And to
help us preview that matchup, we were going inside enemy
in an enemy territory. Excuse me talking with Blaine Bishop,
who Nick knows well former Tennessee Titan. You can now
hear him on one oh four five The Zone. Blaine,
(16:00):
welcome to the show.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
How are you, man?
Speaker 8 (16:03):
Man? I'm doing pretty good. I appreciate you guys having
me own man talk some some Titans Broncos.
Speaker 6 (16:10):
Well, Blaine, you know, right off the bat, I got
to get to this because when you think about what
cam Ward is getting ready to walk into, and you
walking into a hostel environment, the altitude can be an issue.
But last year the Broncos had sixty three sacks, which
was historic for the organization. What can the Titans, if anything,
(16:32):
do to slow down the pass rest of the Broncos?
Speaker 8 (16:35):
Oh, man, that should work there, you know whatever, Man,
they're gonna have to have a lot of luck on
their side. But you know, naturally, you know, you can
run the football. See how much they can do with that.
But I would try to come out, start fast and
maybe do a little quick note huddle, trying to get
the fans out of the you know, kilter a little bit.
(16:57):
I know it's going to be loud, Want some quick
and then come back, settle down, muddle huddle, just kind
of you want to throw the defense off just a
bit nidge in there, and then once things get to going,
then they kind of they have to settle back down
and maybe then maybe they'd be fortunate enough to get
a score before that all happened too much you could do.
Speaker 5 (17:20):
We got high hopes for those Broncos defense here this
year in Broncos Country.
Speaker 8 (17:25):
What did you say, they have a real good defense.
I mean, man, I mean you know you can go
down the list, let alone Deep as the player of
the year. So, uh, the Tigers I had to have
a big hurdle to overcome, and let alone a rookie quarterback.
So he's going to be learning on the fly. I
think he's got the wherewithal and who he is and
(17:46):
how he's built mentally. Uh, but we all know that
doesn't mean he's going to have a lot of success.
So we have to go out there and prove it
in the regular season. With that kind of atmosphere, let
alone the speed of the game, I don't think he
ever seen anything like that different than preseason. So guy's
gonna be moving and you may not even catch a
jersey number. So it'll be an awaken call. But I
(18:07):
think he'll be His personality tells you he's going to adjust.
How soon that'll happen. Maybe he'll be Game three, maybe
it'll be two, maybe it'd be after a quarter. I
don't know. But at some point I think he will
be able to just in and fix this game where
he could be at least a good starting quarterback in
the national football team.
Speaker 5 (18:25):
Yeah, and we saw our rookie quarterback last year, bon
Knicks kind of grow on the job. Have you seen anything,
you know, you mentioned it was just preseason, but what
have you seen from cam Woard that does give you
hope for the future that he will be a good
quarterback in the NFL.
Speaker 8 (18:39):
Well, you know, it's actually more so his leadership capabilities. Man,
He's a true leader, and I think maybe because of
all the different stops in college. He loves the game.
He holds people accountable for everybody a little bit differently
depending on who you are, even decent for guys. So
(18:59):
he gets there at four thirty in the morning. You know,
in this day and age, man, to get the guy
to get there at four thirty is really tough. So
he's got some old school to him that I really like.
This is summing up a little bit for you. He said,
my dad went to work at four thirty in the morning.
He couldn't stand his job. I get to get up
every day and get here at four thirty, and I
(19:20):
love my job. How many times you heard that from
this generation of type players. That's different og type player
right there.
Speaker 6 (19:27):
Well, that's something that you really don't hear from a
lot of players, especially kids in this era, which who
are used to right having things handed to them.
Speaker 7 (19:36):
But you know, your wide receiving corps, it's a very
eclectic group.
Speaker 6 (19:42):
You got Calvin, Tyler, Lockett, you know, some some young
guys in that group or well incapable of beating man
courage but also find the soft spot in the zone.
I mean, how is that chemistry work with cam Ward
and some of these veteran wide receivers.
Speaker 8 (19:58):
Yeah, him and the Calvin really definitely developed some chemistry,
as well as Jigg and Gunnerham and you guys in
the draft class with DK as well as the Elgi
man or who will be starting. They announced over Van Jefferson,
a four or five year guy kind of been like
a journeyman. You know, you number three on most teams.
(20:20):
So I thought Van really held onto the job and
I would have rotated them, but you know, a new
administration want to get their guys out there. I think
the Titans understand they're in a rebuilding mode and they're
trying to get their young players up to speed and
see who can actually play in this league. So that's
what this whole season is going to be about, is
(20:41):
the development of cam Ward.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
Well switching to the side of the ball that you
know very well on the defensive side, your defensive tackle.
Jeffrey Simmons came out with some comments about bow Next
earlier this week, talking about how if he gets off
his first read, he kind of just likes to escape
and uses legs. What have you seen from bow Next
after year one in the NFL, and how do you
think this Titans defense attacks him?
Speaker 2 (21:04):
On Sunday?
Speaker 8 (21:06):
Well, is that a true statement about what jeff said?
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Yeah, Well, yeah, I don't think, but he definitely said it.
Speaker 8 (21:16):
Yeah, he definitely didn't, No no doubt about it. We
actually talked about that on air today and then after
we kind of listened to it live. It kind of
he kind of didn't settle down to you know, it
was more so when nobody was open. But yeah, you know,
Bonnicks did a phenomenal job with Peyton and crew. Ud
be interest to see how much he, you know, second
(21:38):
year usual kind of go up with notes and man,
I was thoroughly impressed well, not only throwing, but also
his athleticism and his ability to run. So I think
he's going to be a problem. It'll be interest to
see if at some point, if that becomes an issue,
do they have a spy even in the package there
to accommodate maybe some of extem and ability or to
(21:59):
buy time. I'm going to get some guys open. So yeah,
both Nike shoots definitely. Uh, you know the next big
thing every quarterback, you can see it.
Speaker 7 (22:09):
Well, you know, I blame when we look at this game.
Speaker 6 (22:11):
Obviously, you know, all the odds are favoring the Denver Broncos,
and they figure out what cam Ward being a young
quarterback that not saying that any game in the NFL
is an easy.
Speaker 7 (22:22):
Win, but they're looking at this game as a win.
Speaker 6 (22:25):
Is there any possibility or any scenario in your mind
where the Titans could come in here on Sunday and
shot the Broncos? Cool?
Speaker 8 (22:36):
Well, I think you know, so, you know, I believe
in a lot of luck sometimes in games. So let's
just say opening kickoff, maybe the Titans running back kind
of settles the crowd down, maybe take them out of
it for a little bit, and then they go three
and out, and then the Titans ball control and move
the ball down and at least get three points. Now
(22:57):
they're up to and oh, now I think it's an
easy game. It's something like that could happen. You just
never know once you get on a ball. And we
all know first week in the National Football League is
in the tail tape of how good you're going to
be or not going to be. So there's some crazy
stuff happens in week one in the National Football League.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
Well, Blaine, I've got one selfish question for you. I
grew up a big fan of Steve air McNair. I
know you played we alongside him. What's a story you
can share with our audience about something that kind of
encapsulates his personality and if your days playing.
Speaker 8 (23:35):
With him, yeah, well it's more football related. That would
be more A year we went to Super Bowl, you know,
he was coming back up a back. We had Neil
old Donald as a backup, proven better and died. You know,
Neil started the season. You know, we went four and
one and he came back to the back. Ser you said,
I'm being a little rusty, but you know, and we're
(23:57):
in a tight game up and get who we're playing.
But he comes at the sideline and said, you know what,
I'm looking at him like, hey man, one more three?
Ugh man wedged. He says, no, I finally figured out
how I have to play with my back and I
figured it out. We're good now. I mean he said,
it's so commonly and then calmly went back out there
and drove the team down the field. Uh. And whenever
(24:19):
he said that, he always backed it up.
Speaker 6 (24:21):
Man.
Speaker 8 (24:21):
What a clutch players nails man man. So yeah, he
and mcnahir it was everything that people thought he was
as a football player, and he was that. I mean
it was funny, you know, like different guys around the
league always was asking about you know McNair and Eddie George.
I mean it was like really weird what I see it,
you know, just out and about. So you know, those
(24:42):
guys are too specimated for sure. That's why they've gone
at the first round picks.
Speaker 7 (24:46):
Well, you know, Blaine, thanks for joining us.
Speaker 6 (24:49):
I'm looking forward to a competitive game and see how
the young cam Ward handles himself here in Denver. And
I'm sure you know you and I will be texting
and tweeting back and board throughout the game, so definitely
enjoy the game on Sunday.
Speaker 8 (25:05):
Alright it man, all right, and I appreciate it. Man,
thanks a lot.
Speaker 5 (25:08):
Appreciate you appreciate it. Blamed Bishops. You can hear him
now on one four five the Zone. I believe he
has a show one to three weekdays Eastern time, so
eleven to one our time and one of your good buddies.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
Nick, Yeah, that's my guy.
Speaker 6 (25:21):
Man grew up watching him, right, I grew up watching
him and it was kind of wild how we were
kind of introduced to one another, and you know, every
year we'll go to the super Bowl, and it just
happened to see him on Radio Row and the idea
was like do I fanboy or not?
Speaker 4 (25:40):
Right?
Speaker 2 (25:40):
And my question, yeah, And I was like, you know.
Speaker 6 (25:42):
What, what are the odds that I'm going to run
into him again? So I just went up to him
and told him, Look, Man, as a kid, I grew
up watching you and watching your game and loved how
physical you were and how you played the game. And
it definitely had to impact on me. But usually when
you walk up to someone and you tell them I grew.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Up watched it makes it feel old.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Yes it does.
Speaker 6 (26:05):
I started to look on his face initially, But yeah,
I mean he was great, great about him, man, And
we've stayed in contact over the years.
Speaker 7 (26:13):
We kind of passed football note suit.
Speaker 6 (26:15):
To one another as we kind of watch games every
single year.
Speaker 7 (26:19):
Man, And yeah, that's my dude.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Yeah, he seems like a great guy.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
First time I've got a chance to talk to him.
And a little weighing in on the text line from
the seven to one nine if you want to get
involved five six six nine zero. Nick thinks that this
generation is soft. That's why he has his toddler and
the minds earning their keep.
Speaker 6 (26:40):
See wait a minute, Okay, so do you know what
exactly that texture is talking about?
Speaker 5 (26:46):
Is that from a conversation on KOA Sports the other day?
Speaker 6 (26:48):
Yes, because I told Ryan and it was supposed to
stay between us, because when we have conversations at practice,
it's like Vegas, it's supposed to stay at practice.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Does look like Ryan's number here?
Speaker 6 (27:01):
It could be, but I told Ryan, like in my house,
it's equal accountability. Everyone has jobs to do, and you
may not perform a job where you can contribute to
the family financially, but you can do your chores.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
That's the way you contribute.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
And Ryan was just like, well, so you're saying that
you have your kids, you know you're youngest, do chores that? Yeah,
I mean this, you got to start them early. And
I said, well, I haven't washing dishes. And Ryan was like, oh,
so you have your kid at five years old. I said, Ryan,
that's not what I said. I said he's seven now,
I said, he so you're doing that? Ryan eversting again? Right,
(27:41):
you're trying to take what I said and spin it.
And Ryan said, well, how long has he been washing dishes?
I said since he was six. You put a little
stool up there.
Speaker 7 (27:50):
I'm not asking you to wash everyone's dishes, wash your own.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Yeah, so being responsible for yourself exactly.
Speaker 6 (27:56):
So someone in the texture was saying, how I have
my it is working into mind.
Speaker 5 (28:04):
Yeah, well, well I grew up near West Virginia. There
were kids working in the mines back.
Speaker 7 (28:08):
Yeah, and once again, that's that's that's not cool.
Speaker 6 (28:11):
I want to tell you something really quickly, because we
talked about it before we.
Speaker 7 (28:15):
Had laying on how I lost my wedding ring.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Yes, please do, because I heard a conversation.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
You overheard me talking to my wife, Yes, listening and
you know, she was telling the kids how I lost
it three times, and I said, no, correction over, yeah.
Speaker 7 (28:31):
I lost it five times.
Speaker 6 (28:33):
The first time I lost it, we were on our
honeymoon and I went to wash my hands and I
could hear the buzzing from the I guess the luggage
carousel the luggage coming out, and I didn't even I
washed my hands, left and went back to the hotel.
So it's about nine thirty at night. We're sitting eating
at dinner and I'm using my forking knife, and every
(28:55):
time I took a bite to eat, I'm looking at
my hand and my brain is trying to regst her.
Why are you looking at your why is this yes?
And then I looked and I realized my ring is
not there. So my wife looking at my shocked face,
she became shocked, like what are you talking about? And
I was like, okay, my brain, my left my right
(29:16):
brain was trying to work. Okay, my left brain said,
don't tell her, play it off. The right side said,
if you start off, tell him to.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Lie, then you got more lies.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
That's right.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
Another one. So I was just like, you know what,
I lost my wedding ring. And she's like, where did
you lose it? And I said, I don't know. So
we sat there and combed through the situation and realized
I left it back at the airport.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Right, and that is not a good place to leave it.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
No, but luckily someone found it, oh my gosh. And
we called back to the airport and someone found it,
and we told them the hotel we were staying, and they
brought it to us, and I was like.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
Thank you Jesus, yeah, and thank you whoever that nice,
kind hearted person was.
Speaker 7 (29:58):
And then I lost it four more times.
Speaker 5 (30:02):
No, we got about sixty seconds left here before we
had things off to Buff's Prime Time. Give me your
keys to the game for the Broncos victory over the
Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 6 (30:10):
On Sunday, Starfas convert third downs and run the freaking ball.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Run the freaking ball.
Speaker 5 (30:17):
You think they get over twenty rushes without not counting
bow Nick scrambling, because that was the question you posed
to Rick Lewis earlier.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Yeah, he means I'm not sure.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
I would love to say, because that's where the level
of commitment was supposed to be.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
But did you get there?
Speaker 6 (30:33):
Because let's just say you run the ball and it
seemed to be ineffective.
Speaker 7 (30:37):
Do you go to throwing throwing throwing?
Speaker 5 (30:39):
It seemed like over oh Max Zeeker six. Well, I
hope he's right for my fantasy team.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
I've got R. J.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
Harvey in there and hopefully he steps up this year
and his new number twelves of the day, Nick Benito
with his big contract, Malcolm Roach injury and uh we'll
talk about it all on Sunday on Broncos Countdown take
kickoffs already at noon. We've also got KOA Sports tomorrow,
which I believe you're on right, Nick, Yes, I am
all right. We'll hear you then at three o'clock we've
(31:07):
got Bus Prime Time coming up next on KOA eight
fifty am ninety four to one FM
