Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, Brian Grant Smith here with his Actually, who's going
to be along shortly? I got you for a hour
and a half tonight as we're taking you up to
Colorado Rockies baseball right here on Koa Rockies finishing up
against San Francisco Giants. I'll be at the San Francisco
(00:20):
Giants Giants seventy.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Eight and eighty one.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
It'll be Hermano Marquez for the Rockies, and I believe
it's McDonald for Trium McDonald for the Giants tonight. Not Michael, No,
not Michael McDonald. Well done, sir, well done. Set me
right up for that night. I nearly blanked on him.
Five six six nine zero is the text line, you
guys got any question? Somebody said they saw a plane
(00:44):
flying a banner that said Chasa loves Logan near Kipling
in two eighty five.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
I've not seen that.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
If anybody else out there has seen this plane flying
a Chassa loves Dave Logan banner, I would love to
get a picture of that to us.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I absolutely love that.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
But the the seven two who texted that in earlier
was driving and couldn't get a picture of it, So
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Uh, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
I don't know anything about that, but I'd love to
find out about it.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
So if you see it, let me know, uh, and
we'll do that.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
We got Mike Petragle are gonna join us here in
about five minutes.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
He covers the Cincinnati Bengals, get a chance talk to
him about these the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
It has been an interesting week. Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
I told uh, I told Joe before and I'll tell
you again. Talk to somebody on the Bengals coaching staff
and they seem to believe they're gonna be able to
run the football, and I don't know where that belief
is coming from. This was not one of those uh,
you know, dudes Josh and each other kind of thing.
This was like, hey, you know, an honest conversation back
and forth. Ryan talked to some people in uh in
(01:51):
the Broncos locker room and some players, and they seem
to know that that was the intent of the Cincinnati
Bengals and kind of show off.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
So we'll see.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Chance talked to Mike Patraclea about that. I always loved
talking to Mike. He's a good dude, to be fair.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
I mean, Broncos are twentieth ranked and run defense so
far this year.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Yeah, but I mean the way that they said this,
like I can't I can't reveal who it is somebody
on the coaching staff, and and the way that they
said it was so matter of fact, you know, like
they were so insistent upon what it was that they
(02:32):
were saying to.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Me that it was just it was it was almost bizarre,
you know.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
And I was having a conversation with Dave Logan off
the air before KO Sports and I was like, man,
I don't know if these guys are delusional or if
they've really hit on something here. And I'm sure people
could figure out who this was without me saying anything.
And it's not like, I mean, you could figure out
which Bengals staffers follow me on Twitter. It's not that hard.
But I don't I don't know. It was just weird.
(03:01):
So we'll talk to my Patrigli about.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
That a minute.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
And on the other side of that, the Bengals have
a historically bad and brushing offense.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
That's what I mean, Like this is a very stoppable
force meeting a very movable object. At this point, something's
got to give. And I tell you, if they do
get it started. If they do get the run games started,
you know, then you gotta gotta worry if you're the Broncos,
because I will open some things up and.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
The Bengals do have the receivers on the outside, you know,
to make you pay.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
We saw what happened last year when when Burrell was
rid of the show and it was a it was
a shootout. Now, of course last year both corners were
a little injured. I think both Certain and Riley Mows
want some measure of revenge.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
What do you think about Certain?
Speaker 4 (03:42):
I mean, I know he's been lessed as healthy ever
since that tweak, but.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
It seems like he's just a step slow.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
Like even last week there was he didn't get really
taken advantage of, but there was clear separation on some plays,
but you normally don't see from ps.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Well, he plays that trail technique, you know, And I
think if you've got a little bit of a lingering
ankle thing and you play in a trail technique where
you're trying to bait somebody to throw because you've got
the catch up speed to be able to do that,
you know. I still think Tirtan is thing. They are
probably the best two corners in football right now. You
know sauces up there, but I mean just best pure
(04:17):
corners in footballs two guys are probably the best. And
you know, even even ninety percent of their tan is
still better than ninety percent of the league. So something
to something keep your eye on. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
I think the it looks to me like maybe there's
a little bit of.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
That ankle bugging in, but not enough, not enough to
be something that's h It's definitively doing anything for him.
And I still thought he played well against the Chargers.
You know, you talk about step so Quinton Johnson has
a hold of speed in the world. It's a speed
hadn't been the problem with Quinton Johnson. The problem has
been his ability to catch a ball. So, you know,
(04:59):
I don't know, I don't know if I don't know
if that's really affecting. We'll see see how it goes.
Scott's Caamaberia commas Breil hotline and bring on our guy
like Charcolate, it covers the Cincinnai bankers always enjoy having him.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Well.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
I like, how you doing, buddy, Benjamin.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
I'm doing well. On this Friday, I'm actually heading out
to the Mile High City a day early tomorrow hoping
to take in the Fops and BYU tomorrow night.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Oh well, I hope you're a BYU.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Phetnam's kidding it's and you guys can follow Miket on
Twitter at tracks. You get looking at this thing right
off the bat. I mean, I think we all saw
last week and that debacle against against Minnesota as we
look at this. I had a conversation with somebody on
that staff, and they seem to believe that they're going
to be able to get the run game going against
(05:49):
the Broncos this week. Is that something that if you
look at this team and what they've been able to
do or not been able to do, it's really on
the docket. Or was this delusional? Just just coaches wolfing
and hoping to get something.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Going At this point, it's wishful thinking. Now, maybe the
Bengals do get their run game going next week or
on Monday night, and certainly they want to. That's what
they've been trying to do. Speak it into existence, because
they'll get Jake Brown and killed. You'll get more of
what you saw last Sunday in Minnesota. Maybe not the turnovers,
(06:22):
but the ineffectiveness of rounding in the passing game was
obvious from the start of that game. Bengals need to
get the run game going. I have been told by
a couple of people inside the team and inside the
building that they may just go back to the most
basic form of run blocking possible, meaning, and this may
(06:44):
sound simplistic, but hat on a hat, see guy block guys,
that's it. And I think with Scott Peters, who was
a new offensive line coach this year replacing Frank Pollock,
I think there was some confusion or certainly an inability
to adapt with what Scott Peters was trying to teach
him in training camp, and it has been very apparent
(07:08):
in the first three games. They have not been able
to get any type of push up front. That's got
to change. And so maybe that's what the Bengals are
going to try to get Chase Brown in this involved
in this game world.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Not just Chase Brown, but also Samaj p Ryan back there.
And you know, is there any sort of revenge game
factor as p Ryan used to be here with Sean
Payton early on in his tenure with the Demverer Broncos.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
I don't think that's going to be too big of
a factor, and t Ryan also has a right thumb
injury that he injured when he fumbled the ball just
before halftime last week. P Ryan will be on there
because he's good in pass protection and certainly you know
he's a checkdown option, but and in short yarding situations,
he's one of the best that they have had in
(07:57):
the last several years. But the Bengals have to get
some type of power game going. They have to not
be pushed around at the line of line of scrimmags
at the point of attack like to have been in
the first three games.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Okay, with Michael Tragley at tracks on Twitter, Jake Browning
was effective a couple of years ago as a spot
stark guy in relief of Joe Burrow. And the big
thing that appears to be missing if you go back
and look at those games is the Joe Mixon factor,
you know, mix and whether it's his talent, whether it's
just running the football in general. What would you say
(08:35):
is the difference in how he's performing now versus how
he performed then.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
I think he is in the first six quarters essentially
that he's played in replacing Burrow. I think he's tried
to force the ball a couple of times. Dan Picture
told us that on Monday when meeting with the offensive coordinator.
The Bengals offensive coordinator, Zach Taylor, has mentioned it several
times that Jake is usually very good with his decision making,
(09:03):
but they want Browning to do a better job staying
on the right side of being aggressive versus reckless, and
a couple of times last week Dan Picture thought that
Jake Browning was reckless, and he thought that Browning would
agree with that assessment.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
And that's been the difference.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
I think he feels like, especially early on in the year,
there are plays to be made, he wants to get
Jamar Chase and t Higgins the ball as much as
he can, as much as the pass protection will allow.
And I think sometimes when you force those plays, you
know in mistakes happen. The defenses certainly know you're trying
(09:43):
to force the ball, and they can jump routes, and
that's what has happened. He has thrown I want to
get my numbers right. Five interceptions in six quarters of play.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Wow, that's that's not a recipe for success. As you
guys look at you know, coming into this you're two
and one.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
We're one and two.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
But both of these teams I think are looking at
this in some ways as they get right game. The
Broncos looking to get back to five hundred, the Cincinnati
Bengals looking to put the woes from the early turnovers
and that the buckle last week. You know, behind them,
What is your confidence level and what is the confidence
level of the Cincinnati Bengals on the road here in
Denver in this game?
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Very high if they don't turn the ball over, I
will grant you. And I know it's a cliche, Well,
when you lose the turnover battle five to nothing on
the road, you're probably going to lose the game in
the National Football League, And that's what happened last week.
Not only you're not gonna only lose the game, you're
gonna have no chance to compete. And the Bengals really
had no chance to compete turning the ball over. The
(10:45):
second time they had the ball. They were marching down
the field to make it, you know, a fourteen to
I'm sorry, a seven to seven or seven to three game,
and Jake Browning throws the pick six and it's fourteen nothing,
and it just seemed like the game was over. The
Bengals believe that if they can not turn the ball
(11:06):
over put up seventeen to twenty one points. They believe
they have the defense to confuse bo Nicks the way
bow Knicks he is playing early this season. I think
that's their recipe for success. Play with the lead, which
they haven't done a lot of to start this season,
and certainly in the last two games they haven't. And
(11:27):
I think if they play with the lead, they feel
very confident they have a chance to win.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Monday Night talk with Michael Tragli at tracks on Twitter.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Okay, let me roll with that for a minute, because
I want to talk about the Cincinnati defense. I mean,
much maligned through the media nationally this offseason, the lack
of you know, putting all the money into the receivers
and the quarterback and then you know, you had the
defensive hold out of the first round pick forever as
you look at as you look at this defense, I mean,
he gave up twenty seven to Jacksonville and had forty.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
You know, they didn't give up the forty eight.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Obviously he had the pick sixers and everything else that
contribute to be giving up a decent amount to the
Minnesota Vikings with Carson.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Wentz at the helm.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Is there anything to going back and harnessing what they
did in week one the Browns or is this what
they see is is more and more games where alone
we're seeing Al Golden get more and more exposed.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
I think Al Golden is learning what he has more
and more. I think he actually has done a pretty
good job getting this defense to play the way they want.
Their linebacker play has been suspect over the last year plus,
and last Sunday, Logan Wilson was essentially benched and they
put the rookie out of Clemson, Barrett Carter, in there
(12:44):
with the green dot, and they felt pretty confident with
the way he has been playing that it wouldn't the
moment wouldn't be too big, And Logan Wilson said after
the game, that's their decision. They feel that he can
make more plays than I can and I have to
accept that. A fight for my job, but I.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Have to accept that for now.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
And they have another rookie in Demetrius Knight Junior at
the weak side linebacker spot. So you have two rookies
potentially at the linebacker position. You have a very young
secondary that's pretty athletic, but has been holding its own
so far. Jordan Battle has two interceptions in the first
(13:25):
three games. The defense has been making a lot of plays.
And I'm not here to tell you that they are
the eighty five Bears of the seventy five Steelers.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Obviously they're not.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
But they haven't been the reason, or certainly weren't the
reason last week that they lost that game. They were
the reason they won the game in Cleveland, and again
they were the reason they hung on in the second
half and gave Jake Browning a chance to be Jacksonville.
I actually think Al Golden has done a pretty respectable
(13:57):
job in getting a younger defense, a faster defense than
it's been the last couple of years. I'm better tackling
defense than it's been getting them to play the way
he wants them to play, which is to say, all
over the field.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
Yeah, I know, if Al Golden's resume in his history
or anything to be, you know, you'd see you would
hope to see a continued improvement as he has gotten
that out of defenses before. Well, back to the offensive
side of the ball, ye know, the Bronco has been
a little susceptible this year against the tight end advance.
Joseph defense has been historically susceptible against the tight end
fans and the concussion protocol, but still have plenty of
athletic guys that play the position.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Drew Sample and Mike Esecki.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
How could we see Cincinnati attack the Broncos linebacking corps
get those tight ends, those athletic tight ends the ball.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Well, I can tell you that the Bengals have been
seeing a lot of Cover two, a lot of deep
zone the first three games. They've been trying to force
vertical routes up the field. What I think you might
see the Bengals do more of this week is more
mesh concepts, using Kasiki, using Drew Sample, who had their
only touchdown last week in that loss to Minnesota. You
(15:03):
might even see somebody like Tanner Hudson or Cam Grandy,
depending on which one they activate for Sunday. But also,
when you talk about the middle of the field, you've
got to get your running backs in there in space,
and that's where Chase Brown comes in. The lack of
ability for the Bengals quarterbacks Burrow and now Jake Browning
(15:24):
to find the running back to find Chase Brown in
open space, to identify linebackers who you are, to get
a guy man demand where a safety has been really
poor and it's been one reason I think the Bengals
offense has struggled so badly is they have not used
the middle of the field. And I don't know why.
(15:46):
Dan Picture, I think is a little perplexed as to
why they haven't done it. So I think you're going
to see the Bengals try to attack the middle of
the field a little bit more this week.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Couple of local interest questions here real quick, Dalton Reisner,
Noah Fan, I mean fans, and the concussion protocol rising
a little thing up as well.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
We got to see either one of those in these games.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Well, I think Dalton Reisner's you're starting right guard for
the Bengals, assuming that last week's cap injury is very minor.
And that's what Zach Taylor said after the game. He
said it again on Wednesday. I'm sorry on Thursday he
said that, So I would expect, certainly Dalton Reisner to
be the starting right guard for Noah Fan. He was
(16:29):
again in concussion protocol today a typical Thursday, obviously a Friday,
I doubt he's going to play on Monday Night if
he is not played or have been cleared to this point.
Of course, he could get cleared by tomorrow and be
ready to play Monday night.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
I'm not going to.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Jump down jump to that position yet, but I would
not expect Noah Fan to play much of a role
in the game Monday night. But again, we'll see if
he's If he's a full go, fully cleared, maybe he
will have a bigger role.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
All right, Trags, going to hold you to this. Your
entire career is dependent on this prediction. What are you
predicting them for Monday Night?
Speaker 3 (17:09):
I think the Broncos get revenge for that heartbreaker last year.
In Week seventeen, I think the Broncos find a way
to win this game, get bow Nick healthy a little bit.
Twenty seven to seventeen is what I'm expecting for the
Broncos and a win over the Bengals.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Oh well, that's fairly close to my own predictions. So
we'll see see how I play that. We wind up
being totally wrong, both of us, and it'll go the
other direction, as the unanimity tends tends to breed. Hey,
I appreciate you joining us tonight and look forward to
seeing you here in town.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
You got it, Bensman, thank you, No, I'll take care
all right.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
For track ad Trags on Twitter, you guys go follow him,
great source for.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
All the Bengal stuff. We always love having him on.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Does a great job breaking things down for us. We
come back, earld Zach Seegers got another article up there
on can we call it onta dot com.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
It's just talk to him about that. Look forward to
doing that. We got to hit a break, we'll be back.
Good to see ye, good see with.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
Mike Petragli on and the last I mean to stay
part of that. You go to Broncos Country dot Com,
Slash podcast or pre each podcast, Apple high Tunes, Spotify
and the free and run redesigned I Heart Radio app.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Almost nailed it, Almost nailed it.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Where you can get the taken for granted podcast archives.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
I like the terminology you're using now, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
kind I tried to shame you into doing new episodes.
It didn't work, so pile of dust off off one
of those tones.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Well, what I'm trying to do now is like I
tried to shame him that it works, So now I'm
trying for the nostalgia factor and to see if I
can do it only the archive, you know, like I
do with the historical thing, and.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
See if I can't.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Well, Hey, one hundred and seventy five more episodes than
Zack Segers and a Rod's podcast.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Okay, very true.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Wait, we got to ze really quick. How many episodes
of that podcast, did you guys do? Two?
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Okay, that was genuine the countries we had a Yeah,
that was We're done. You got a new article up
though on Kellycolorado dot com man.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
Yeah, yeah, looking at the CU bus matchup with the
BYU Cougars and maybe I'm a little too high on
some CU fumes, but I'm buying the Colorado Buffaloes right now.
I think they could give BYU a little run for
their money.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Oh well, then sell me because I'm on the other
side of.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
That one too high. I'm feeling like Nick Ferguson on
this one too. I think the Colorado Buffaloes started to
find a bit of their identity in Week four or
whatever week at the call.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
It's hard to keep track with the week zero and everything.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
But in this past game for against the Wyoming Cowboys
and granted it is the Wyoming Cowboys, but I think
CU has already been tested more so than the BYU Cougars.
BYU's toughest competition so far is Stanford. Stanford lost to
Hawaii earlier this year. I mean, they're far from impressive team.
(20:01):
That's the only power for win between these two schools
ahead of this matchup. The Colorado Buffalo is when they
were running like the Pat Shermer pocket passer offense for
Caden Salter in Week one took Georgia Tech down to
the wire. A Georgia Tech team that's since proven themselves
against Clemson and looks comfortably like a top twenty team
in college football by US ranked. But they're kind of
(20:23):
ranked based on last year's resume when they had a
better quarterback. I think, see, you can at least give
them a run for their money. I likes you to
cover the touchdown part.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
I'm I'm on the other side of this, and I'll
I'll get into a little bit of this. First of all,
you skipped over the fact that they played and beat ECU.
At ECU one of the fastest high tempo offenses ian football.
They only gave up thirteen points. Who they just beat
you know they It hurts my heart man, the beat army. Anyway,
(20:53):
Dad explains the ECU hype. I was like ECU HiPE
because heard one of the fastest ec he was one
of the fastest offenses, fastal scoring.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Offenses in college football. They're not They're not terrible.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
I would not necessarily say that Stanford is a better
team than he CEU.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
This year, for instance, that's it. That's it.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Through three games by US allowed sixteen total points to
the combination of Stanford and ECU, and that on the
road at ECU as it.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Were as well.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
I get that they play Portland State in the opener, okay, fair,
but allowing sixteen points over the course of two games,
let alone three, is tough to do no matter who
you're playing in college football. That defense is good and
they run the ball very well. The defense is good
and they can run the ball well. I think the
bus are going to have to shorten this game some.
I think the run defense isn't terrible early on in
(21:39):
the game, but there's been a trend, especially against Houston,
where late in the game at Georgia Tech two they're
worn down and then you just start getting these ten
fifteen yard chunks every carry. They're going to have to
shorten the game some and lean on their run games some,
but I think we saw hints of that in this
past performance against Wyoming. I also think that their offensive
(22:00):
line can stand up to BYU's defense in a way
that they couldn't in the Bowl game last year, where
this offensive line was even last year so terrible.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
Now they're giving Caden Salter good pass protection. You know,
I would have loved to see what Shador could have
done with that level of pass protection these past couple seasons.
But I think Salter looks dangerous, like he's got a
live arm, very good runner. You know, he rushed for
one hundred yards on his ten carries last week.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
It goes down his.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Eighty six yards on eleven carries because he had a
terrible sack. But I think he's a dangerous threat. The
CU weapons, I.
Speaker 5 (22:36):
Think are incredibly dynamic and can give BYU a run
for their money. I think they're I think they're going
to put up some points and hang in there.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
I think it's it's possible.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
I just I do think this game is going to
get shortened because of BYU running the football. The question
is how well are they able to do that early,
because if they are able to lean on it, they
will They'll burn you up late by doing that. They'll
gash you, burn you up late with that if you
can force that freshman quarterback into obvious dropback situations and
then get a chance to tee off on him. I
was talking to Dave earlier and I said, you know,
(23:05):
I think I think Colorado can't win. I just think
that the way to do that is going to be
you gonna have to manufacture two too. You're gonna have
to be plus two in the turnovers. You have to
manufacture extra possessions to be able to do that, and
you figure out a way to get this freshman quarterback
turned football over.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
And I think that is the one thing we've seen
from this defense so far. They've had the big splash plays,
They've had a lot of takeaway so far this season.
The pass rush has really dropped off from last year,
but I think there's reason to hope that it could
still turn it around.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
I touched on this in the article.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
Last year, they had one less sack through the first four.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Games of this season.
Speaker 5 (23:39):
They only had five sacks through four games and then
really turned it on down the stretch, ended up finishing
with the most sacks of any team in the Big Twelve.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Hopefully they can find that switch again this year because
they're going to need it.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
And one of the interesting things that's not being discussed
in the matchup here, see who's gotten a lot more discipline.
They're only averaging four point eight penalties per game, whereas
b Y was averaging seven penalties per game. That especially
against the competition that they've played, that's that's a startling disparity.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
See, he's going to need every edge they can get,
kind of as you alluded to before, So hopefully they
can take advantage of that. It's been nice to see
some of the things Deon Sanders has set out to
do since he first got here finally come to Fruition
this year. In regards to the offensive line looking good,
it looks like he's really cultivated an exciting cast of weapons.
I mean, since here Brown in back to back weeks
(24:29):
had one of the top two times in college football.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
Both both of the past two weeks, he's.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Topped twenty two miles per hour.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
I mean, I think we're going to talking about him
in the reft.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
He's the six to four.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Freak who moves like that himself to Randy Moss, right, Yeah,
you never.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Want to do you never want to invoke that.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
But you know, on that receiving core, Amari Miller's a
guy who's shown flashes here and there finally got going.
You know, is this going to be something we're going
to see more of him, be more consistent, or is
this going to continue to be this sort of radic
you know, guy who has all the talent in the
world but can't seem.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
To put it together on a game to game basis.
I hope he can put it together.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
I think he can because the flashes were so consistent
when he was in a supporting role, and I think
you thought we would see what we saw from him
against Wyoming all season long this year, and it really,
to your point, he didn't break out until that Wyoming game.
Hopefully that's a product of the offense kind of finding
itself in that Wyoming game and committing to the identity
(25:29):
they should have had all along, which is Shaker, start
your best quarterback and build an offense to his strengths.
And it turns out you could find a bit of
a rhythm on offense. Marian Miller had his best game.
I thought the running backs had their best game. But yeah,
Marian Miller has to become a more consistent threat. I
do think it's nice to have Joseph Williams, a really
(25:49):
coveted transfer from Tulsa to help booie that as well
as the aforementioned since her Brown Draylon Miller, though the
really hyped up I'll use Ballyhoot again Samuel type receiver
has been a real zero factor so far this season.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Hopefully you can get something going.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Yeah, last last question on this for me before we
get to hit hit traffic here is who's going to
run the football for the Buffs? Because you're going to
have to do that. This is gonna This has been
the knock on this team since Prime has gotten here,
since Pat Shrummer has been the offensive coordinator, the question
of who's going to run the ball for the CU
(26:26):
Buffs has largely weighed over and again we've got injury
and everything else. Who's going to be running the football
besides the quarterback probably Michael Welch, which concerns me because
I think he's been the least exciting of the running backs.
I hope we see Simme and Price, who you know,
hasn't carried the ball a ton. They're They're splitting the
carries pretty evenly between these three backs, but I think
(26:48):
Price has looked like the most dynamic ball carrier. De
Kaylin Taylor has been an awesome pass catching back, pretty
good ball carrier too, but he's really stood out with
what he can do in the receiving. Michael Welch has
definitely had his moments right now. He's tied with Price
for the lead in rushing yards on the team, but
that's on eight more carries.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
He's just I think.
Speaker 5 (27:11):
Been a much less explosive, less consistent threat. Unfortunately, I
think the bus are gonna have to lean on him
this week with the injuries to Taylor and Price.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
All Right, literally, the suspect right behind us.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Walking down the street, shout out to our guy, Justin Adams, Man,
it's a good dude.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
And the fact that he is their solving crime life
on television.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
Man, Yeah, him and his camera guy I think his
name was Ladarius. He's like, hey, I think that guy
is right behind you and he's like oh.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
I was like, oh my god, wouldn't that be crazy.
I think that is it an armed robber? Yeah? Oh man,
I love it. Yeah, they had, they've.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Been reporting, they were reporting on the actual story, and
then the guy literally walks down the street right behind
him in the same stuff that he committed the crime in.
That's just not the world's brightest criminal, I know. Like,
not to take away from the Batman, Justin Adams out
here saw the crimes.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
And a lot of these criminals get caught. I mean, yeah, there's.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
The reason people tend to turn to crime in the
first place, you know. But it's just, yeah, Justin's out
there doing a street report, just walks down the road
right behin.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
I don't even know what to do with that. I
loved it.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
It's like I think it was when he went on
with the anchors after that, after they realized what had
just happened.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
And he's like, you know, this is just like weird.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
I don't know what other way to describe it, because
this is just shouldn't happen.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
But shout out to Justin.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
He's a great dude and as we know, big buff fan.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Basically, uh, I have to start calling Bruce Wayne like
I had changed my phone.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
I just put the Batman symbol up for his for
his name and my phone. So now what he calls
me is just the Michael Keaton Batman symbol. Oh my goodness.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Yeah, five six, six nine zero is the text. I
was actually just going to joice again top of the
hour for the NFL six pack. So we've also got
uh Colorader Rockies baseball coming up bottom of.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
The next hour, her my marquess with the Rockies.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
And McDonald for the Giants, not Michael McDonald is.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Sadly, Grant pointed.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
Out, I wish I still had Ryan's Michael McDonald impression.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Oh did you dump that already?
Speaker 4 (29:29):
I did, well, you were kind of talking over it.
So you know, I like to have clean drops. That's
my problem me to get him into it again. I
got a little my problem. I gotta let it breathe
a little bit.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Sometimes I'm so looking for the singer that you know
that I'll I'll step on the line.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Instead of let it breathe. You don't learn, Yeah, programming note, the.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Uh gambling opening line was that by bet three six
five and.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
The fantasy football. Yes, Jody, you can come in here
and get some pepperoni pizza.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
I have two pepperoni pizzas in here with me in
the studio, and I'm holding them hostage so people can't
get it for yourself.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
I'm a growing boy, mostly the midsection. How many pieces
are he gonna eat all of it? Do you think
I'm kidding? I am so dot? What did I do
that one day at Taco Bells? Like thirteen tacos and
two steakcase idias?
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Yeah, you got the twelve pack.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
Yeah, that's what next on was the twelve pack was
an extra talkic extra and then there's steakcase I is yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Everybody was looking at me like where how Yeah, that's how.
I don't know, just say that's impressive. That's my it's
my superpower. I just put away food.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
You're not catching criminals, but you can now justin.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Adams down your combating crime. I'm out here as the
human pig trough, just a dumpster.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Just shovel it in. You guys got some cake out
there anyway.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
Programming note on Sunday, we're still doing the opening line
at nine am.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
It'll just be me. We met three six five opening line.
I got some guests coming in my shpuireau.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
I think Chris Farley's gonna be in there as well,
not the dead actor obviously, the the the veteran and
sharp better and we'll be doing the Fantasy. Know Ryan
will join the Fantasy Show at some point. We will
have him on the phone at some point. He's afternoon
drive to you guys. They just get all the time off.
They want too big time. Yeah, Broncos aren't playing. We're
(31:23):
not coming in on a side so much. Blue collar
working man, we got to be out here.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
Well that's exactly how I describe you, toe.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
In the trenches.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Yeah, just a real, real blue collar working man.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
That's me. You know. When he's not in there on
the air, he's out there roofing houses. That's Benjamin all Bright.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
Just fixing tires for random people on the side of
the road.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
Oh yeah, last time I did that, actually got my
hand burned. That lady that had her car frozen in
or whatever. And that wasn't here at like four am
with like Gina and Marty and later like what are
you doing here? I'm like looking for the first aid
kit for burn Oh we got the NFL six pack.
When we come back and I'm the pig
