Speaker 1 (00:00):
What about two of Broncos Country Tonight, Benjamin O'brienzach Seekers,
Grant Smith here with you. Five six, six, nine zero
is the text line as we head towards Colorado Rockies baseball.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Here bottom of the hour, Mon.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Marquez against McDonald for the Giants, Jack and Jerry on
the call.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Not further Duo, Let's get to an NFL six pack.
It's time for the NFL six pad.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
I'm going insight and insight information you can't find anywhere else.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
No.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Six the top six NFL headline one.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Brock Purdy is set to return this weekend for the
forty nine Ers after missing the past two games, during
which Mac Jones, the backup Magni Jones, went a.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Perfect two to zero.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Do you think brock Purdy will be able to keep
the wounded forty nine ers afloat despite them being down
Joey Bosa, Brandon Ayuk, Trent Williams and several other key players.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Oh, I mean, I think Brock Party is better than
Mac Jones. I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
I don't know if he can keep them afloat. That's uh,
I mean, that's a tough division. You're up against the Jags.
Although you are at home Jags at two and one,
but they need to they need an offensive performance that
they haven't had yet.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
It's a stinky two in one. Likes one and two,
but they're so close to three and oh yeah, it's
that's a two and one.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
That's yeah, you know, we'll we'll see I you know this,
this could be one of those ones.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
So the Jags would get the three on the hook.
Two man, this could be one.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Of those ones that could Jacksonville could come in and
steal one against the shorthanded Niners team. We'll see see
how it shakes out. But you want party in there
over mac Jones.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, and I think Perty's taking a nice step in
his development over the last year and a half. They're
being a little less around him with all the injuries.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
We've seen him.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Blossoms son and they put they put a little more
on his plate, and he's been up to the task.
I just at a point it feels like the injuries
have to be too much. I mean, they're down so
many of their past catchers. Christian McCaffrey's plane, but he
doesn't look like the christiancaffrey that was winning Offensive Player
of the Year A couple of years back, and now
you're down your best defensive player. I mean, I think
(02:06):
Robert Sawas defensive turnaround there has been very impressive. But
I wonder if that can sustain without Bosa. Yeah, it's
gonna be It's gonna be interesting. I got of like
that three of the hook for Jags this weekend. We'll see,
We'll see how it goes Two. Jaden Daniels is expected
to miss this week's game with the Falcons, as is
Terry McLaurin. It will be the second consecutive game that
(02:27):
Jayden Daniels has missed with his knee injury that he
suffered against the Packers, and he's now missed multiple games
in each of his two seasons as Washington starter. Are
you worried for Daniel's health going forward considering his slider
frame and style of play? And do you think Marcus
Mariota is the best backup quarterback in the league given
what we've seen from him over these series of starts.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
You know, I don't know about the second part of that.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
I'd need to see more out of Mariota because it's
been wildly up and down for him over the course
of the entirety of his career.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
As far as Jayan nails. That was always my concern
with him.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Jayde Daniels six foot three and a half and he
weighed one hundred and ninety pounds, so I mean that say's.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Roughly what he weighs.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
He got to got to think in the combine, he
ate and got it up to like two ten I think,
which is still very very light for a quarterback. You
want your quarterback to be in like the two thirty range,
give or take two twenty two thirty range in terms
of weight.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
He got it up to ten.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
But he's he's really like a naturally one ninety one
ninety five you know player in terms of his playing weight.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
He's a very very thin frame. It's been that way
for a long time.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
That's always been what I've been concerned about with him,
especially with the style.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
That he plays with.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
But with quarterback protection rules being what they are, I mean,
Lamar Jackson's mostly been able to stay healthy doing that.
So yeah, we'll see they're operating out of it a
bundant of caution. Jade Daniels could have gone this week.
They're operating out of abundant of caution. With the knee,
trying to make sure it gets fully healthy before they
put it back out there.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
This is amurt thing.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
They've got bigger aspirations than just trying to beat the
Falcons this week. I would be telling him, you know,
while he's dressing up, watch a ton of Lamar Jackson tape, though,
because I don't think he has that same ability to
avoid the hits that I think Lamar Jackson does. Lamar
is so good at, you know, not taking those big
shots that I think we've seen Jane Daniels take a
lot of over this point in his career so far.
(04:06):
I think I heard Nita Kimes quote this stat on
ESPN the other day where he led the league in
like quarterback contact rate his rookie season, and then he
was leading the league this season before his injury already,
so has to minimize how much he's getting hit with
being a sub two hundred pound player, Like you were saying.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Yeah, and you're up against Pennix and the Falcons, which
should be easy. Michael Penix has never won a game
which an opponent has scored more than seven points.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
I heard that stat. That's a crazy stat that, I
mean ridiculous, So anyway.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Three Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has been removed from
the injury report and is expected to play for the
Chiefs this week versus the Baltimore Ravens. Starting quarterback of
the Ravens, Lamar Jackson, is looking for his first career
victory in Arrowhead. Do you think Worthy it'd be the
missing piece to unlock cases offense? And is this the
(05:04):
highest state skime game of any team's season so far?
With both the Chiefs and Ravens fighting to avoid a
one in three start in terms.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Of preseason expectations, it might be. Both these teams are
capable of digging out from one to three. So it's
not like, you know, there's a different level of panic
if Denver goes one in three than if Kansas City
or Baltimore does, just because we've seen them dig out,
you know before. That's not to say that Denver's not
capable of doing it. It's just, you know, I mean,
we've seen we know they can do it. We don't
know if we can do it as far as the
rest of it goes. I mean, you know, they they
(05:34):
that is one of the pieces that missing whenere she
Rice comes back and that offense really gets gets going, that's.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Gonna be a different football team.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
But the big knock on Kansas City isn't necessarily the offense.
It's the fact that the defense looks old and slow.
You know, on top of it, you invested in those players,
guys like Chris Jones and Travis Kelson. You put a
lot of money in those guys, and those guys looked
to be charitable washed.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Hey, you know, I gotta say they looked pretty good
this past weekend.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
I don't I forget who they were playing.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
This past weekend, but I got to say I was
pretty impressed with what we saw from the Chiefs defense
against the.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Big Blue and their quarterback.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah. I can't recall exactly what that team was, the
New York something's the New York, not justin Field's losings,
whatever it was, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Before Chiefs defense was looking dangerous. Dare I say that
week they were riding the NFL that's committed to having
a regular season game in Brazil next season, in twenty
twenty six, and in three of the next five seasons overall.
Despite the Brazil games being a little controversial with the
players given the rough playing surfaces, and whatnot.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
What do you think of the.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Game's growth overseas and what country where the NFL hasn't
played in yet would you most like to see a
game played? Oh, Australia hundred percent. Oh that's a good poll.
That would be fun. That's coming too, the Eagles and Rams.
I think next year or something like that down there.
I'm not sure has that been announced there. Yeah, they're
getting a game at all. I think it's next year.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
But that's that's the one I would definitely want to
see more than you know, more than anything else. As
far as the Brazil thing goes, it's it's a double
edged sword. The NFL would love to have more games
down there in Brazil, and obviously you see that with
the commitment down there versus London. For several reasons. One
the tax rate, number two, the time zone. You're just
going south, you're not going you're not jumping time zones.
And having the body clock issues and all that kind
(07:23):
of stuff from the jet lag there. There's some security issues,
there's some playing surface issues. We're gonna have to get
those things ironed out. It might be worth it for
the NFL to just partner with FIBA or somebody else
and build a stadium down there that's a multipurpose UH
stadium that could be used for American football. But that
is something that's coming, and I would suggest that they are.
(07:43):
They want to grow the game in Mexico and in
South America more than they do in Europe, despite what
we've seen in Europe over the years, simply because there's
logistically a lot less problems, a lot fewer problems with
guys playing down there in terms of you know, setting
up time zones and seven thirty games and you know
that kind of stuff, as well as the tax implications.
(08:05):
You know, the taxes in Europe are significantly higher than
they are in South America.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
So and it seems like the home field advantage or
the sleeping situation is something that would have to be
figured out. I think I heard somewhere that the Chiefs
had like a three hour bus ride for something absurd.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
They're gonna have to figure all that out.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Like I said, if you're gonna do that in Brazil
and you're gonna make this much of a commitment, it
might be worth it for the league to partner with somebody,
like I said, whether it's FIFA or whatever. To get
to get a multi use stadium, real stadium built down
there that has maybe on site lodging as well, so
you could right, so you can keep the security and
(08:42):
everything else.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
The way you want it.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Five. The Green Bay Packers will be without two offensive
linemen this Sunday versus the Dallas Cowboys, and they could
potentially be without a third starting offensive lineman depending on
Aaron Banks status. Do you think this be a get
right game for the Dallas Cowboys defense that is currently
the worst in the NFL? And if not, is there
(09:07):
anything that can get them right?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
No? Spread on this thing is like forty six and
a half in the Green Bay cover by themselves. Dang yeah,
I don't think. I don't think you're that wrong. I
think this offense is pretty darn dynamic.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Their defense is terror bad Allas Cowboys because there's no
d happening.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Weren't you high on them preseason? The offense Matt even
they had met, they had Michael Parsons and the.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Offense Matt Heberflus is having a real uh crater ever
since the Tyreek Stevenson game last year. I mean, his
Bengals defense was they're not Bengals excuse Bear's defense was
good for a year and a half or so.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
They're really cratered after that Hail Mary moment. And then
now in Dallas. I well, the.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Players in Chicago, the the Dallas thing is just is
different because they just don't have the personnel like they
just don't. They've got three guys on that defense. I
think that would be starting on anybody else's team, Katy Clark.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
You know, obviously adding him was it was a plus.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Clowney would be a rotational guy on you know, on
most defenses, and he's more of a run fit guy
than he is a pass rusher.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
You know, they just really do not.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Have a lot of talent on the defensive side of
the ball. Uh, And that's that's the problem. He saw
that happen.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
I mean, the Giants roasted him.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Russell Wilson came in and threw for four hundred and
fifty yards on him. And you know, we all know
that apparently Russell Wilson stinks, and he still managed to
do that.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
I mean, I think he I don't know if the
Cowboys and beating up on the Cowboys prove that you
don't stink anymore in.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
This day and age.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
I think if it was enough to prove that Brian
Dable maybe doesn't.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Mention I mean maybe you know, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
We'll see, We'll see if he gets more starts this season,
We'll see how that how that goes.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Let let Russ cook six.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
I'm a big Jackson Darts guy now, course against Jackson
Dart fan, but.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
I believe that you are. But when he doesn't get
a single touchdown this week, I'm the biggest fan that
is h He's gonna gona this week. The oh, I
guess that Chargers defense.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Yeah, I would have not thrown him to the Wolves
this gay, but I'm glad they did well for me
for betting purposes.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Series Like I'm so glad this happened for real life purposes.
This was a terrible idea, great coaching decisions high en Dable.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Another shock up another did a w for Dable. The
Arizona Cardinals came out just short against the Seattle Seahawks
last night, or came up just short against the Seattle
Seahawks last night on Thursday Night Football, with Kyler Murray
posting a QBR of twenty seven point eight. The Cardinals
will be able to move on from Kyler this offseason
(11:33):
for the first time since signing his lucrative extension. Have
the Cardinals hit their ceiling with Kyle Murray Kyler Murray
ben and at what point do you think they would
look to move on from the quarterback.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
I mean, Kyler Murray has his own set of issues,
his own set of limitations, and I've been on that
since since he was drafted. You know, there's some very
specific things you have to do in order to make
him as successful as possible. That said, I don't think
he's the biggest problem down there in Arizona. The biggest
problem is they've got nobody at those skill position players
(12:09):
outside of Trade McBride that scares anybody.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
I mean, they took.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
A while, they had to start getting the human dors
Greg Dortch going because he was the only guy showing
any fight. Michael Wilson as one of their other guys,
Marvin Harrison didn't look like he wanted to play football
in the first half of that game before finally showing
up in the second half that you know, after getting.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Booed off the field.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Drew Petsing takes a lot of guff from the fans
on what's going.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
On there in Arizona. But I mean, it's not the
play calls that are.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Bad if you just execute them, it's the fact that
they've got nobody. They've got an underserviced offensive line that
without James Conner and the only skill position player they
got to the worth of you know what is Trey McBride.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
And how's the narrative change if they don't have that
kickoff that lands half a yard short at the end
of the game they winning and overtime.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Yeah, think goes in the setups and they winning overtime
and everybody's talking about the brilliance and how they're held
back by you know, the skill position players, which is
what the narrative should be.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
So you think Kyler Murray is not necessarily the problem.
That's just it continues to be the roster around him.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
He has his own set of limitations and you have
to do specific things for him, similar like Russ, you know,
but you can succeed back in the day, you could
succeed with Russ at a high level if you did
the exact things that he was good at, right, And
that's sort of the thing with Kyler Murray. You can
succeed with Kyler Burr if you do the exact things
that he's good at, because.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
He's so good at those things that you can win games.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
The problem is when you try to square peg round
hold him and then you got a problem. But on
top of all that, again they've got nobody that offensive.
That skilled position room is hilariously bad. Marvin Harrison taking
Harrison over Molik Neighbors. I said it at the time
was a giant mistake, and it appears to be more so.
The rest of that ru I mean, Xavier Weaver had
(13:47):
a prominent role last night.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Xavier Weaver had a prominent role last night.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
I think both sides on that Milik Neighbors Cardinals thing
are probably regretting how that went. I bet Melie Neighbors
would love to be playing with Kyler right now. And
what he's had to up with, and I bet the
Cardinals was left to have him too, is.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
That they're wasting a great defense. That Cardinals defense played
really well. I mean, I understand they you know, gave
up twenty three in the end, but they play part
of that was two interceptions that shouldn't have happened, you know,
and everything that Cardinals defense is legit.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Maybe Trey Benson can be something for him. Obviously sucks
that Connor's gotten hurt. That makes the skill position group
only worse. But Trey Benson was a pretty exciting running
back prospect. Maybe he can give them some sort of
spark around Kyler. They got to figure something out at
the running back position. They've got it, you know, Trey
Benson maybe part of it, but they've got to figure
something out. Maybe they need to trade for Jillian McLoughlin.
I don't know, but they need to do.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Something that they can get the ground game going over
there because that otherwise it's just it's embarrassing to watch
as they try to force feed trade McBride the ball
and get picked off or nearly picked off in some
of those cases. While you got you know, Michael Wilson
out there running obscene amounts of yards and and Xavier
Weaver and Greg Dortsch are the big winners here.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
The defense hasn't worked out for Brian Schottenheimer, but he
made one of the best coaching hires of the cycle
when he got Clayton Adam from the Cardinals. He's done
an amazing job with that run game. You look at
how talent poor that that Cowboys backfield is. They're leading
the NFL right now in rushing success rate. I think
so much of that is the design of that offense.
Tip of the cap to Clayton Adams.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Yeah, that was that was a big get and you
saw how the Arizona's line struggled a little bit in
that against that pass rush that that Seattle and.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
Michael McDonald was throwing at him. So just seeing if
Grant's paying attention, ye'all, I'm gonna be there, Zach. I
appreciate you stepping in for the for the six pac Man.
Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Yep, you've been listening to Broncos country tonight right here
on KWA. We have got Colorado Rockies baseball coming up
next to Mom Marquez, Chris McDonald, San Francisco Giants listen
to do it all, Jerry and Jack on the call
right here on k chicks dig the long ball.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
But from now, like the next couple of days, it's
going to be a lot of form. Peter probably
