Speaker 1 (00:00):
Gonna go right out to the KA Commas Growth hotline
and bring on our guy, Ryan Conensberg from d m
v r's got a brand new show with a key
to leave.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
But a while since we talked to Ryan on this show,
so good to have him back.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Right.

Speaker 4 (00:08):
How you doing, I'm doing great, guys, man, it has
been a while. It's great to talk to you.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah, great to talk to you as always.

Speaker 5 (00:14):
Man.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
First question right off the bat, got to get this
out of the way. What's your stance on robes?

Speaker 4 (00:20):
Robes? Like, give me a little more context.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Well, apparently I thought robes had died, but apparently Grant
and Nick are telling me that robes are still a
thing as it like pajama context. I had thought that,
you know that a an item of clothing that was
basically a towel with sleeves and a belt was was
a bygone thing, but apparently it's still here.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Yeah. I mean, I own a robe. I will say
that it gets very very little use, but my aunt
bought it for me and has my initials on it,
so I think it's pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Okay, Okay, so you did not buy it, and you
very very rarely make a difference and he does not
wear it.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
He has one. It has and issues on it, and
his grandma purchased was.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
So he has won.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
This is I okay, whatever, I'm still gonna I'm gonna.
I'm gonna wind up losing an argument I should be
winning for some reason. Right we got We got a
huge win yesterday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Kind of a statement win in a lot of ways.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
It felt like for the Denver Broncos, you were you
were losing that game seventeen three. You found a way
to run the football, Bow got hot in the fourth quarter,
Philadelphia continued to throw the ball despite having a Saquon
Barkley in the backfield.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
All those things came together, perfect storm. Broncos win.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Now the road kind of looks paved for this team.
You got the Jets, you got the Giants up ahead.
What what is the ceiling for this team this year?

Speaker 4 (01:35):
It's a great question, and I think that, honestly, that
game completely resets the narrative on this team. There's a
lot of questions I think that had to be answered
about this football team, about Sean Payton, about bow knicks
that you kind of just like checked off all of
the boxes in the fourth quarter yesterday? Can they get
over the hump? Can they win a one score game?

Speaker 5 (01:57):
You know?

Speaker 6 (01:58):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Can bo Nix come up much in those must have drives?
Well in what I was calling the Final Boss in
the Philadelphia Eagles, who are built for these type of
games and just do it over and over and over again,
you found a way to just check all of those
boxes in that game. So I don't think you can
put a ceiling on this team right now. I think,
you know, we have the conversation today on our show

(02:19):
about whether or not this team is a super Bowl contender,
and I think they're very much at the back end
of that conversation right now. Like you can't look at
the Broncos and say there's no way they can win
a super Bowl this year. I think as they continue
to grow and develop and Bonnicks kind of gets more
comfortable and Sean Payton gets more comfortable as bo Nicks,
this defense continues to do what they do, I think
this guy's the limit.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
See Ryan, See this is where I draw the line
because usually whether's the Broncos or any of the team,
the conversation is always the same. It's about the quarterback
and the office of coordinator. I think in the tell
of the Denver Broncos more the conversation should be, which
is not is about the defense. You brought it up
in your detailed explanation just moments ago. Are we overlooking

(03:04):
this Broncos defense because they're not being spoke about, especially
Vance Joseph the way that I believe that he should.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Spoken like a true defender.

Speaker 6 (03:13):
Nick Right called out, Yeah, I mean, I think unfortunately
for the defense, I think Broncos fans have kind of
learned to take great defense for granted.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
For the better part of the last you know, twelve years,
this team has had a great defense. Maybe it's eleven
years this team has had a great defense, And so yeah,
I think people are a little too used to it
at this point, and maybe they aren't getting the credit
they deserve. But I think the point stands that you
know what you have in them, you know they're great.
You know that you have the defending defensive player of

(03:49):
the year and the future defensive player of the year
in Nick Beneto, Like that's gonna be there and you
can really count on that group. But for this team
to get where we think they might be able to go,
it is all going to fall on the quarterback and
the play caller and Sean Payton to I think take
this team to those heights.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Tyer Ryan Conisberg from d m VR.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
As we look at this thing yesterday, there was something
that surprised me, and that was that Sean Payton was
willing to stick to the run in the second half.
Normally the Broncos get down that dude's looking for an
excuse to dial of pass plays. And I remember coming
out of half, I like, well, all right, we're gonna
have a good to the game where both throws at
sixty times and JK. Dobbins averages you know, ten yards
of carry and sitting on the pine.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
But no, he didn't.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
He stuck with the run despite his his you know,
his little clip there at the.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Top of the play sheet. Run the ball.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
He actually remembered at this time, were you surprised by
that at all?

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I was.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
I had the same thought. Ben. I really thought that, Okay,
it's gonna be really hard for Sean Payton to run
the ball on second down, especially in this half, and
I was impressed with his ability to do so. I'm
a little concerned about this Ben Powers injury and how
that is going to affect the run game because I
think Sean was finally starting to truly trust it. But

(05:07):
I was impressed with his ability to stick with it yesterday.
And I think it goes to something that my co
host Benny Fowler talks about a lot, which is like,
it takes Sean about four games to really know what
he has in a football team, takes the team about
four games to settle into what he's trying to do
and for everything to kind of mesh together. And I
felt like yesterday that game was like the perfect amalgamation

(05:29):
of Sean learning what this team does really well and
this team executing what Sean wants to do really well.
So that was really exciting to see.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
So when we look at this game and we say, well,
over Sean Payton's tenior as a Broncos head coach, is
it safe to say that this was one of the
biggest wins that he's had since he's been to Broncos.
Hey coach. And the second part, what do you think
this catapult them too? Knowing is though they went out

(05:57):
beat Philly on the road, now on they're headed to London.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Yeah, I mean, I think it's absolutely the biggest game
of the Sean Payton era in Denver. And I think
it's because of the way that this team has has
played early in this season, Like we've seen them go
toe to toe with two really good teams in the
same area and the Chargers and the Colts, and they
weren't able to get over that hump, and so there

(06:23):
was a lot of like unsettledness in Broncos Country about
whether they could do that. But for them to get
over that hump, I think it shows that maybe those
games were a fluke the way that they lost them
at the end, and this team, especially internally, can feel like, Okay,
we're ready to go to We're ready to play against anyone.
You know, Shawn asked them after the game, who are
you afraid of? Like this team should be afraid of

(06:45):
no one. There's there's nobody that can't beat if they
can beat the Eagles on the road on a short week.
So I love that and you've kind of alluded to
it a little bit, Nick, But my favorite part about
that win is that the team doesn't like go home
to their families after that game, and you know kind
of written it away like they get to wallow in

(07:05):
that victory for the entire next week. They're gonna be together.
They're you know, the the bonds on that team are
going to be fortified over that ten day period where
they were on the road together, spending that extra time
together because he got into Philly early, and then you
go all the way across the pond to London. I
think this could be a little stretch in the season

(07:25):
that we look back at the end, maybe one two
years even down the road, and say things kind of change,
they leveled up during that stretch.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Tyler Ryan Koenigsberg from d MVR, Ryan, you know, at
bit a little bit easier game next week.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Obviously, we got Nick Bonito lead the league.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
In sacks, We've got the worst quarterback to ever touch
a football in the history of the game, and Justin Fields,
who loves to hold on to the football.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, and I know at all I'm not even using
hyberbole there. How how many how many sacks do you
think Nick Medie could come away with?

Speaker 1 (07:56):
And how much are we praying for Russell Wilson to
somehow get the start over action Dart the following week
so that Benito could be on his way to breaking
the all time sack record.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Yeah. Man, it's kind of crazy to think about with
the way it's setting up for Nick Bonito right now.
And I mean, Justin Field is someone who can run
away from just about everyone in the NFL. Just Nick Benito,
I don't think is on that list. And so this
is kind of one of those games where if Justin
Field falls into some bad habits thinking he can just

(08:27):
break the pocket and get the edge from you know,
defenders like he can in most weeks, I think this
could be a heyday for Nick Bonito, and then the
next week. I mean, we'll see. We'll see what happens
with the with the quarterbacks. It'd be great to see
Russ and have that game. But either way, you're getting
another rookie, so you know, along those lines, I was

(08:50):
so impressed with Vance Joseph's adjustments in the second half
yesterday and the way he was able to bring four
but yet do it in ways that were creative and
get pressure on Jalen Hurts by making him, you know,
think and throwing different looks at that Philly offensive line.

(09:11):
I thought it was really impressive. So I think they're
going to continue to find the groove and find ways
to potentially get Nick Bonito those opportunities by bringing, you know,
different types of packages after the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
See Ryan Moore, I hear you you talk. He sounds
like a man that is is kind of on my
side and thinking. This Broncos defense is by far the
strength of this team. So with that being said, how
important was it to bring a guy like Talanohafunga and
put him in the Broncos secondary next to Brandon Jones.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
It was huge, you know, I think the one thing
that this Broncos defense was lacking last year when they
were playing really well, it was just dogs. Like I
don't know how else to describe it, but there's just
certain guys who bring an attitude and an edge to
the football field, like yourself, and it just does something.

(10:06):
You know, you guys mentioned off the topic, I'm doing
a show with the keep to Leave. I mean, that's
another one of those guys in that defense had him
in Spade. It was him, it was Chris, it was TJ.
It was Dairy and like guys who just go out
there and make the offense think about whether or not
they want to be on that field that day, and
they kind of lacked it a little bit last year,
but telling all who funk it, absolutely is one of

(10:28):
those guys. And then I know it's kind of a
sore subject right now and we're waiting and waiting and
waiting on him. But Drey green Law is another one
of those guys, and I cannot wait to see what
he adds to the fold when he gets back out
there for this team.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Ty Ryan Conisberg from the the DMVR. Ryan, last one
from me. You are doing that new show with a
key to leave, but one has to leave snatch your chain,
and two tell us a little bit about that show
and what you guys are doing.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Yeah, I'm gonna have to have ask the keys to
give me a chain first so that smatch it as
he will on set, so you know I'm safe in
that department. But no, man, I'm so excited for this.
When I, you know, was in the locker room every
day covering the team, that was appointment appointment listening for
me anytime a keep had something to say, and you
knew if he had something to say, he was gonna

(11:16):
one keep it real and two it was gonna be good.
So honestly, since that time, going all the way back
to twenty sixteen, twenty fifteen. I had always thought, like, man,
I would love to one day do a show at
the Keeps Leave. So when this opportunity came up, I
pounced on it. Talked about all talk to all the
powers that'd be like, no, this is this is the

(11:36):
guy that I want to talk with every day. So
I'm really really excited with it. People can check it out.
It's called no Live Zone, so you can find that
on YouTube. You can find that where you get your podcasts.
Obviously social and all that, but I'm really really excited
for it.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Ryan Codisberg from dmv R you can find him on
Twitter at Ryan Codingsberg and now the Noe Lie Zone
podcast available where we get your podcast.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Hey man, we appreciate you taking some time tonight. Want
to get you on can soon?

Speaker 4 (12:01):
All right, I appreciate you guys.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Yep, brother, take care. Ryan Coenigsberg. Always love talking to him.
I guess the one thing I wanted to ask about
with some of.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
The CU stuff because he's a big CU guy.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Uh because he went up there, but uh, you know,
we'll get a chance to do that next time. I
always love those guys from DMVR Becausezack Stevens is like
the uh yeah, the is Busy is like eternal joy
with the Broncos and the Conisberg is like the face
of like.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
The buffs over there too. So like I always love,
you know, asking those guys those kind of stuff. I said,
Zach had some photo the other day.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
I texted him, uh because he had some picture of
himself he was. I was like, dude, you can't help
but smile when you do selfies, Like you see a
Zach Stevens selfie and you cannot help but smile.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Zach. I don't know how old Zach is, but he
looks like he is like a teenager.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Oh yeah, he still looks like you know, it's like
him and Ben Solac. Yeah, they bost look like they're
there in their teen years or whatever.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Which you know.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
I hope I have skinned that good. Uh you know,
well I don't.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
But you know, do you moisturize?

Speaker 6 (12:58):
Not?

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Do I have been known to moisturize?

Speaker 3 (12:59):
You say, and you've been known, I asked, do you moisturize?

Speaker 2 (13:03):
That is my way of saying, I moisturize.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Okay, that's that's your way.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
You got to in Colorado. Yeah, right, it's ridiculous, was
the first thing I learn when I came out. It
wasn't the altitude or anything else. How dry everything was.
You know, I wound up having to like do chapstick
all the time.

Speaker 7 (13:17):
I don't have to any more chapsticks that now, initially
that that's a big chapstick, just shoving a lie down
your face.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
It's like a big pumpkin with those pumpkin spice loattes
or whatever. A lie. You're not getting any pumpkin pumpkin spice.
Cold brew You're dead to me.

Speaker 7 (13:37):
It's not a milkshake, mega cinnamon milkshake. Cold brew is
not a milkshake.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
What is it exactly?

Speaker 7 (13:45):
It's a way of brewing coffee. It's like extra strength coffee.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Did you put you know, like whooped cream and cinnamon.

Speaker 7 (13:54):
Hmm, interesting, humpkin spice cold brew'll change your life?

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Likes him, Yeah, that doesn't change anything for me. Probably
likes Robes too.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Oh you just like everyone else, but you apparently apparently
I'm the hater.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Surprise, surprise.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
I really thought this was gonna be a whole week
of me getting to just absolutely crap on Justin Fields.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
So it's gonna be like Honka in October. For me,
it's gonna be hot October. He probably doesn't have a robe.
Justin Fields, I need to buy a robe.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
I'm sure it's the guy who you are in constant
competition with over this. It's Justin Fields.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
Thing is that even this week Zach Seegers he'll be
here Wednesday. Okay? Good.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
I wonder if Zach has a rope.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
I would guess now doesn't feel like he's a robe guy.
I don't think he has enough swag.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
What about Ryan Edwards? Do you think he has a role?

Speaker 2 (14:46):
He has a flannel robel robe. Take the words right
out of my mouth.

Speaker 7 (14:49):
Everybody knows Dave Rogan probably has four because he's a
real man, all like Rick Lewis at least.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yeah, you know, rick Lewis has got I'm a text
for during a break in CV.

Speaker 7 (15:01):
He's in London right now, so it might be Yeah,
it's like a two am so and I'm pretty sure
he's still doing his Fox Morning show from London.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Really yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Wow, that's a type of dedication right there, is it not?

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Yes? In his hotel robe. Well, he only has to
wake up at like like ten.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Am to do his his normal morning show though, right,
because it's six hours head over there, so he's like,
you know, in his robe and house shoes.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
For sure.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
I did the show from London when I was over there,
not very well. I mean I wasn't here. There was
no drop off because I don't do well here, meaning.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
There was a long night.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
I'm just saying I would literally come from the public
show and you can tell.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
I wasn't gonna say it, but I'm glad you could
completely tell the pub you.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Was that in the background.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Nothing. Don't pay attention to that.

Speaker 7 (15:54):
I had to bring his levels down like halfway on
the board because he's just screaming the whole time.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Hey, could you bring me another pike, buddy saying Oasis.
By the way, I will tell you this. There's something
that they have over there in London. All Bright beer.
It's serious. It's never heard of beer.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
It's terrible, but it's I had something.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
It was awful, just like your shows. It's just like me.
It was terrible.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
He had the All Bright beer, but he did the
All Bright show.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Just says it's all adding up.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
From me being next to.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Text line was popping in the Ryan Coenensberg interview, and
during the break four one seven says, I'm sitting on
my couch from a cheeto fingers watching the Broncos, reminiscing
about my glory years. And I can tell you with
absolute certainty what Riley Moss's problem is. He can't cover
because the PSL is deprived him of the necessary nutrients
to have real speed.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Ryan defends him so vigorously because he too.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Understands the effects of pumpkin spice lottes on athletic performance.
It's the lie perpetrated by big pumpkin. Doun't let them silence.
You've been That's right. Appreciate appreciate you. Four one seven.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Coming to text sign yourself? What is the four to
one seven area code?

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Like, I have no idea, what reason why being outed
and walked out of the room. Yes, so now I
get it, Now I get it.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
No, the four one seven area code is apparently southern Missouri.
The o awes Also, didn't you live in Missouri?

Speaker 1 (17:13):
For what the wrong side of the Missouri there?

Speaker 3 (17:17):
I I know Missouri.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Huh, I lived in the Saint Louis not not the
Ozarks side.

Speaker 5 (17:22):
Part of this?

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Yeah, pretty much only because I was there, So going
to the kay Commaspeil hotline. No, and bring on our
good friend romy Bean from CBS forrom me. How you doing.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
I'm doing really well. I got very lost in that conversation.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
I'm ben.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
I was like, don't bring me in on this pumpkin sight.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
So I don't know what's happening.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Yeah, it could be worse.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
We could have brought you out of the robe conversation,
you know, and I will spare you mercifully that.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Oh just ask her she as Ryan? Why did you
ask her?

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Okay, romy Uh, I am anti, No, no, no, no.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Just don't say what's you anti? Just ask her? Is
she old? Or does she wear a robe?

Speaker 2 (17:57):
That's all you need to ask, romy Do you wear
a robe?

Speaker 5 (18:00):
I am a big rope cow. Anyone who is desaving robes,
I don't know what your problem is. They are magical,
they're cozy. You can get summer robes. I have fall robes,
winter robes. I have spring robes. They work in MYOTD Instagram.
You transition who's insulting robes?

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Of course? A right, of course it's me. We're having
a well, I'll tell you what it is.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
We're having a pajama party down at the Burndown on Sunday,
and there was some in trepidation on whether or not
robes should be considered pajamas for the purposes of being
out at the bar at seven am.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
Uh and so that's where this thing started.

Speaker 5 (18:41):
I mean, I just just make sure you've got something
under your robe right in such a setting, right.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Because just like you can't show up in a robe.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
There's no situation where you show up in a robe
to something like that and people don't either think you're
a pervert or they think you're insane.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Only you think that way.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
If I showed up in a silk robe, that's what
people are.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Gonna fall see, that's you because you don't wear robes,
So that's different.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
I'm just saying.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
Or if I should up been a regular robe, then
people like, did you just escape the asylum?

Speaker 2 (19:05):
So I you know, anyway, I gotta get you.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Wait for losing Romae five the the Broncos one. They
beat the Philadelphia Eagles. It's a huge win, home setting
win if you will. What is your take on where
this team stands now?

Speaker 5 (19:18):
Yeah, a massive win. I think you know we can't
feel like everybody has said it, but it's certainly the
biggest win in the Sean Payn Era without a doubt.
And this is a team that going into this they
have said kind of over and over again, we're close.
We just have to learn how to finish close games.
We've heard that a lot of times over the past
couple of years. And so to be able to finish

(19:39):
out a close game like this on the road, down
fourteen trailing in the fourth quarter, all the things is penalties.
They have a lot of penalty then like one hundred
and twenty one yards and penalties, all of those things
to add up, and you say you shouldn't win a
game on the road against the defending champ. So to
be able to do it and pull off that win,
you know this team needed. Now they have a tangible
thing they can look back back on when maybe things

(20:01):
get rough during the season moving forward and saying well,
we know how to do that, we know how to win,
we know how to hang with the best, we know
how to beat the best. This is one of those
that you can certainly build upon and should be one
of those big markers in the season.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
All right, romy so large staple win for Sean Payton
and Denver Bronco, especially in the Sean Payton era. Now
you're going across the pond to play against there, I say,
the locally offers in the New York Jets. How do
you make sure that you still maintain this sel, this
certain level of confidence, but don't allow it to drop

(20:37):
down and play to the Jets level.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
I think that's always a challenge, and that's always not
playing down, not getting caught up in what just happened.
I think when you look at that Bengals game, you
can look at that and take that as a marker
as le Broncos did not play down to their competition there.
So I think that's a good a good shigne, you know,
moving forward. And then I think, you know, you go
to London and one thing that you know, I will

(21:01):
say that I think Champagne does a really good job
of getting it's even the right mindset and preparing them.
So I don't expect London for them to get you know,
carried away, you know, by being you know, across the
pond if you will. But I do think it's a
good opportunity to install something new, install new trip plays,
keep these guys really interested and invested because they are
halfway across the world. Going to find a way to

(21:22):
make those meetings that you know, may practice a little
something different, give them a little something to chew on,
so it's not just the same. I think that could
certainly help. And then the biggest thing is if they
do play down to the Jets, well, then then that
becomes very telling. This team that has very high aspirations
and they've talked about Super Bowl and all that. Well,
you can't just have one big win against the champs

(21:44):
and then you know, fart one out the next week, right,
So it's gonna tell us a lot about who they are.
If they continue to elevate their play or if they
play down, they're gonna tell us who They're gonna show
us who they are.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Robby Bean from CBS telling us that they might fart
one out as we uh, I apologize.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
I'm definite for that. That's making the best of sound
for the end of the week. Grant's already saving that
to put on at the end of the week.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
Motash looking at this thing, though, it does look like
the road's pretty paved in gold. I mean, you've got
the New York Jets with the worst quarterback on Earth
and justin fields.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
It's undeniable. Everybody agrees and says, so.

Speaker 6 (22:22):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Then you've got the New York Giants, who have not
looked particularly great at home. Following that Dallas, who's got
a terrible defense, the road starts to get paved for
this football team if they can keep their head in
the game.

Speaker 5 (22:33):
Oh absolutely, I mean, Ben, you look up until the
bye week, right, you mentioned those three. Then you've also
got Houston, which is you know, they had a big
win against Baltimore, but they're so kind of a mess.
Then you've got the Raiders, which are a disaster, and
then you've got the Chiefs, which will be a tough one.
But all of those games stacking down up until the
bye week. If the Rockcoats play it right, and they

(22:53):
continue to play the right way, fix up things like
these penalties, the mistakes, I'm gonna have a chance to
head into the by just tremendous standing. It really does
feel like the proverbial ball is in their court at
this point. And to make the most of this chunk
of the schedule to set you up for the rest
of the year.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
Well, obviously, you know penalties and injuries can shape a
team's results. And you know, word of Ben Powers not
traveling with the team. I guess it's being called a
bicep injury. How do you think that impacts the chemistry
that the Broncos have established with their offensive line thus
far the season.

Speaker 5 (23:30):
Yeah, I mean that's it's interesting. That's a big one
because this offensive line. We've talked about the continuity and
how crucial that has been for this offensive line and
for what they do. Ben Powers is one of those
really quiet guys. You guys. I don't know if I
think I've talked to Ben Powers once since he got here.
Does a very good job of kind of staying under
the radar. We don't get a ton of Bedpowers chat,

(23:51):
but just the chemistry that they have, it's always hard
to kind of slot into new guy however, you know.
Being that, I feel like I saw a report that
he'll be back for maybe a December run. I don't
want to portan correctly. I feel like I saw that somewhere.
So the Broncos expected to give us more info, you know,
as the week goes on. But if they can, you know,

(24:11):
get get through get through London, and you never know,
it's always good, I think with offensive linement especially start
testing in the backup that it's not the worst thing,
but you don't love it. You need chemistry there more
than anywhere else. But I feel like we haven't seen
a ton out of their backups because they haven't had
a ton of injuries on the line. So it's going

(24:32):
to be we're going to find out.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Yeah, that injury to Ben Powers, it's a it's a
bicep tear. That usually is an eight week injury, give
or take. It can be a little bit longer than that,
just depending on how long it takes you to get back.
And if you're a guy that you know uses his
arms the way an offensive lineman does, that can that
could be linger a little bit longer. So cautiously, late December,
we'll see with Ben Powers, uh, you know, I think

(24:54):
they're going to give Matt Pert and Calan Throckmorton the
opportunity to be the left guard there. And if those
guys don't work out, Trevor Penning down there in New
Orleans might be somebody that may maybe make a move
for We'll.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
See as far as the rest of this goes.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
How I asked Bryan Coniesberg the same thing earlier and
one thing that surprised me yesterday Nick was sitting next
to me at halftime and at seventeen to three, and
I'm like, well, we're down any amount of points, So
Sean Payton's never going to run the football again.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
Bow's going to have seventy passing attempts.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
But to my surprise, Sean Payton stuck with the run
and we mounted the comeback. Maybe it was the small
scrowl at the top of the waffle house menu. Maybe not,
but can we hope, can we expect Sean Payton to
stick with the thing that works?

Speaker 2 (25:34):
And that's JK. Dobbins.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
You know, I think Sean Payton's been listening to all
of us dog on him week after week for his
inability to commit to the run because stunned. I've been
stunned in the most positive way that he has committed
to the run game and really the majority of this
season where the Broncos are stacking up one hundred yard
rushing games, rushing touchdowns, we haven't seen that in a

(25:57):
very long time, and especially from a Sean Payton team.
I'm absolutely stunned. But I think that perhaps he realizes
this is the best way to help bo Nix be successful.
This is the blueprint, this is what's sustainable. And JK.
Dobbins is happy to be at work orse he wants
that workload. And so I love it.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
I love it.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
I wanted to keep going. I'm I don't want I
don't want to jinx it. You know, it feels like
too good to be true what we've been seeing. I'm genuinely,
genuinely shocked. But I think this is great, and I
think it's a great way to open up the offense
and proboe to then, you know, be able to unleash
and have less pressure on him.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
I think that's important, you guys.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
Honestly, I think we go back to the beginning of
the season, all the Super Bowl talk, Sean Payton talking
about bo Nix is going to be a top five quarterback.
I gotta think that bo internalized some, if not a lot,
of that, and it has a lot of pressure on
himself because all of this talk and all this pressure
is coming from his head coach. So I think to
have somebody like JK.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
Dobbins and to have.

Speaker 5 (26:55):
A successful run game, it just feels really crucial to
bo Nick's development and for his confidence and to know
that kind of he's got that, he's got that, and
then when he's comfortable, he can unleash as well. So
I certainly hope he continues because it does feel like
the recipe for success and sustainability.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
All right, romy with all that said, why isn't that
we are hearing about the Broncos defense express than that
same level of detail? All shut up unless you.

Speaker 5 (27:24):
Respond from why we're hearing enough credit?

Speaker 3 (27:28):
You mean, yes, we're not hearing too much about that
Broncos defense, not in the same magnitude.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
It from the rooftops.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Nick.

Speaker 5 (27:35):
We should be because you know what, because it's an
offensive league and everybody's always talking about offenses. But you
are right, this defense, and I think a lot of
us have said it all year, this defense is going
to keep the Broncos in games all year. They have
at the beginning of the season. Nick Benito is in
no uncertain terms in the defensive Player of the Year conversation.
He's just been incredible that the Bronco's entire pass rush

(27:57):
has been incredible. Pats are ten. We don't even need
you know, It's almost like people have pats or tan
fatigue across the league. They know how good he is,
so maybe they're just not talking about him as much anymore.
But this defense arguably is bo Nick's's best weapon because
no matter what is happening, they are keeping the Broncos
and they're going to keep the Broncos in games all season.
It feels like games are never going to get truly

(28:19):
out of hand, and so the offense just has to
do enough because the defense is that good. I completely
agree with you. They deserve way more credit than they're
giving than they're getting. But you know, defense never gets
enough credit. It's an offensive league. It's not fair.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
You don't you don't have to you don't have to
do that for Nick. You don't have to give them
all that.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
I mean, I I find it ironic that Nick, a
former defensive player, is so finds it so ofugh offensive
that the defense doesn't get enough credit.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
But you know, I mean, we're all trying to be offense, right,
I love it.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
We're talking about all you being for Sey, so a
little bit to talk about his SeeU.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
They're two and four this year. It's it's in the
two have felt like games they could.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Have won, could have would have shout it, right, you know,
the b YU game really got away from them, the
TCU game that started off hot, and you know, this
is another game that felt like they.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
Could have us As we look at these team, is
this is this roughly where we thought they would.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Be And what has prime got to do, uh to
try to turn this thing around in the in the
second half of the season.

Speaker 5 (29:19):
Yeah, I think they're a tough thought, especially with you know,
the next couple of games coming up. You got iowst,
you got Utah. They got a tough little stretch here,
and and they're just they're they're a team that you know,
it's funny because I've heard this with the Broncos over
and over again. We got to finish. We got to finish.
After the last game with TCU, Talky fired, you know,
he was talking to us and visibly frustrated, and it

(29:39):
was the same thing, man, We just got to finish.
We just got to play better, We just got to
close out games. You know, It's like we talked about
over and over again, winning is a skill, and that's
the skill that this young team hasn't quite figured out
how to avoid those self inflicted wounds, really bad mistakes,
you know, obviously, I mean you're rarely gonna win a
game when they're when you have four turnovers, but you know,

(30:01):
certain different kind of penalties, special teams, mistakes. It's always
something that's kind of going on that the team has
not figured out how to win games as opposed to
how to lose games. And we see that all the
time across so many leagues. But I and I think
it came to Falters really struggling with his confidence. I
really do. And I think that's hard when you have
a quarterback that is struggling that way and isn't always

(30:22):
seeing the field and is holding on the ball for
a little too long. And so there's a lot of
things that you look at defensively, the tackling that's an issue,
you know, and some people will say tackling the mindset.
You know. It's so I think there's a lot of
things that week to week you're kind of hoping they're
going to get better at, but they seem to kind
of still be in the same spot where they're close.
They've said they feel like they're there, they're close, but

(30:42):
we haven't seen those tangible improvements, you know, week to week,
So you're kind of you're kind of waiting to see
them take that leap. I think I would love to
see them run the ball more consistently, you know, a
la Sean Payton. I think that's important, especially when you
have a quarterback that's kind of struggling with his confidence
a little bit. I'd love to see them lean on
the run name a little more as well. You know

(31:03):
part one out.

Speaker 8 (31:06):
Exactly Grant's already turned it a rilly Well with that
being said, how can the CU buff team do exactly
that and not just part one out but get some
play from some of the playmakers because Roman, I think
that's something that they're missing.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
There's no Travis, there's no shoot door. So where do
they go to and when they need a big time play.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
You know, I think there's a couple of things. Defensively,
we need some takeaways. You've got to see them take
the ball away. I think DJ McKinney was really excited
to kind of step into that cornerback one role and
he said, Okay, you know, but I think we need
to see more from DJ McKinney really and when you
see this defense, you know, Toffee Buyer has been sensational.

(31:50):
I mean he's everywhere. He reminds me a lot of
camp film and Craggs finding ways to make plays. But
you need more, you need somebody to punch out the ball.
You need you know, those kind of really motivating or
you know, momentum swinging kind of takeaways like that as well.
And you know, Drayalen Miller's kind of he was kind
of a little bit of a revelation in the BYU
game and then we didn't really see him in TCU,

(32:11):
you know, so I'd like to see a lot more
of him. I think he could be a really big
key working out the Wildcat. He was great working out
of the backfield, really strong. Dallan Hayden came back in
the TCU game. If we could see more of them,
I really think that they have a really dynamic running
backs room, and we're just not seeing them utilize enough,
utilize them enough so that Falter then can open it
up and get to the playmakers when he's able to,

(32:33):
you know. And also, like we keep saying he's a
dual threat quarterback, to use his legs a little more.
Sometimes he feels like he looks a little bit indecisive
of like am I gonna run? Am I gonna throw it?
So whatever that takes from the coaches. That's a coaching thing.
Coaching him on being decisive, on being confident in are
you gonna throw it? Are you gonna run it? Designed runs?
You kind of want to see a little bit of

(32:54):
all of that.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
Fair enough, Roly being from CBS, Romo, you want to
come out to the pajama party on Sunday at seven am.
If you're not working, I assume you will be. You
are a welcome robe or pajamas. It is entirely your call.

Speaker 5 (33:06):
Well you know what in a robe?

Speaker 2 (33:07):
I'm tempted.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
I might know.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
Okay, all right, we'll look forward. We'll see it. We
might have we might have.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
Roami out of the pajama party, come on down to
the burn down Sunday seven.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Hey, I'm Romie. We appreciate it as always.

Speaker 5 (33:17):

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Absolutely take care of Rovin from CBS. We'll be back,
you know.
