Speaker 1 (00:00):
Bo Nicks in a pistol set with Javante behind him,
takes it, turns hands off, Javonte spun around or hit
the line of scrimmage and then body slammed backwards by
Ben Christian Wilkins.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
That's one of those plays. You got to know where
Max Crosby is. He is a game record. You can
see he got in there that play and track down
Davonte preventing him from getting to the line of the game.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Welcome do it Broncos Country tonight, but with all Brian
Dick Ferguson Grand Smith. Nick Ferguson, the color analyst on
the Broncos radio broadcast with Dave Logan and Rick lewis
just just killing it.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
That voice sounded slightly familiar there, Nick, I have no
idea what you're talking about. Huh.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
We're down here at Sporty Pickles on nine o'clock, half
mile north, eight four seventy on Peoria. Come on down here.
You can enter to win Broncos Chargers tickets, give them
those away eight o'clock and enjoy a free twenty ounce
beer just by mentioning big Al.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
I will caution you not to mention my name. I
went up there.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
They charged me an extra one hundred dollars at the
bar just for mentioning my name.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
So don't do that.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
But do mention big Al and you'll get you'll get
a free beer there. Nick, we're coming off.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
We snapped a streak. We're coming off of victory. Here,
we're coming off. We got a streak of our own.
Three straight. That's a victory Monday.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
It is so that means since this is the third
victory Monday, you know, want to be great, man weird
at Sporty Pickle.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
You know what, you could buy me some of those
famous sliders that they had, yes to celebrate. You know what,
get the man some slider ship make it over. We'll
get you some. I'm here to feed the hungry.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
Yes exactly, boy am I hungry.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
I was starving. My god, I had the pizza. It's great.
They got great food, great rinks, specials. You guys want
to get.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
On uh down here, We've got some great American Beer
Fest passes to.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
Give away here. In a little bit, we'll get to uh,
we'll get to that. Man. It was it was interesting
because the game did not start off the way I
think everybody was expecting.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
The Raiders came out, kind of punched them in the
mouth a little bit, and they got up, got up
ten to nothing, and it really all pivoted on the
one hundred yard pick six by the best corner in
the game right now, Patstertown.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Yeah, you know what, that was kind of unexpected.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
You're right, you know, coming being out of what the
Broncos were ever to do against the Jets and the
Bucks a week before, especially on the ground, I didn't
expect the Raiders to come out and attack the way
they did. But we'll get into it later on. But
the Raiders found a little scene. They were running a
lot of the inside trap that kind of called the
Broncos off balance until about the third quarter when it
(02:21):
seemed like they figured it out. But you're right, I mean,
the offense once again was just not available. They were there,
but they were not available as far as moving the
ball down.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
The field as though I expected.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
And going into it when you and I were bringing
down the game, we thought that Max Crosby wasn't going
to play.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
He ended up playing and he.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Was a huge factor and majority of the plays that
were not running plays.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
But the defense came up big once again.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
And that's kind of like the storyline of the season,
is it not the fact that how the Broncos the
record that they currently had have is doing part because
a little offense here and there, but mostly because advanced
Joseph and his defense.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yeah, and they really shut down the run game.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
They had the one a mirror Ofdula pops for forty yards.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
That did kind of skewed the stats a little bit.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
A Dullah finished five carries forty two yards, the longest
of which was forty which means he had four carries
for two yards. Beyond that big carry, Madison had fifteen
carries for thirty eight yards, a two and a half
yard average. They just couldn't get anything going on the
ground game. Early they were doing pretty well in the
air with Brock Bowers, but that sort of slowed down
after a little bit. Brock did not have any I
don't believe a single reception once su Tan was covering him,
(03:38):
although he did get some receptions.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
When the linebackers on Joe.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Jacoby Meers finished with six receptions seventy two yards, they
really didn't do much much other damage than those two
couple of here or there. I thought Tucker might get
a little bit of run didn't.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
It was really just kind of a non factor in
that game. You know.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
The surprising thing for me watching the game for the
thirty thousand foot view was Gardner Minshew in that first half,
he had a little success with his legs extending plays.
And I don't care what some individuals think. And when
I say the individuals, I mean evaluators when they look
(04:18):
at the game, they want that pure pocket passer. But
for me, that's very arcay and thought because.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
The game has changed so much.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
The edge rushes, the linebackers, the guys in the back end,
they're so athletic, they're so fast. If you have a
quarterback that can throw from the pocket, great, But if
he can throw on the move, but he can also
hurt you with his legs. And that's the thing that
quarterbacks like Ryan Fitzpatrick, Gardner Minshew, that's how they came
to prominence in the league, being able to make those
(04:49):
second and third plays once the play started to break down,
and that proved to be a problem for the Denver Broncos.
But then all of a sudden, I don't know if
it was by Minshaw's doing or they were they were
calling it upstairs.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
But somehow they got away from it.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
But I was happy that they did because now Vance
Joseph Defense was able to go out there and work.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yeah, and that's that's been the key to all of this.
I mean, the game was, the game was about to
take an ugly turn. I mean that the Raiders were
driving and you know, missuy dropped back to pass and
through and he was throwing into the end zone to
take the team up seventeen nothing, take the Raiders up
seventeen nothing on the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
At that point, Sir Tan houses it and it goes from.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
What would have been seventeen nothing to ten seven game,
and really everything just kind of pivoted on that. The
entire the energy in the stadium changed, the energy on
the field changed. It just did just did, just changed
across the board, and you could sort of see that
that at that point. The Raiders really didn't have any
other answers after that, and they didn't to the point
where they ended up pulling Gardner Minshew about three quarters
(05:49):
of the way through the game and putting Ad o'connelly in.
Something I talked about before the game, it was was
on the bubble of happening and our guy Vinnie talked
about us on Friday.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah, okay, this is think about this in every game
thus far this season, maybe with exception to maybe the
first game of the season against the Seahawks on the road,
the Broncos defense, you made a play that changed the momentum.
And even though I know there's no nickname for this
(06:16):
defense just yet, there's still a long season ago and
we still haven't figured out a nickname for Riley Moss.
But this is a very opportunistic defense and they turned
the ball over at the right time. And it took
me back to twenty fifteen when I was looking at
the No Fly Zone and it was a play where
you go, oh, the offense is movement of ball down
(06:38):
the field. The Broncos need to play Who's gonna stand
up and make that play?
Speaker 4 (06:42):
And there's always someone on that defense.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Whether it's a sack or knocking the ball out, punching
the ball out, creating a farmble getting I int, But
it was Johnny on the spot as usual.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
PS two with the pick six, well.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
And you were It reminds you of the No Fly
Zone where you had a collective group of think somebody
who was gonna step up in this particular game, Tan
got to Moss got one.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
We've had Brandon Jones getting.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Fumbles and interceptions, PJ Locke making play. I mean, it's
been all over, whether it's been sacks by Zach Allen
or Nick Bonito or whomever. It's a distributed effort. It's
not one guy. It's not centered around one guy. Patstertan,
of course, is the big name and the former first
round DRAFTI the only first round draft picks starting on
that defense. But overall, it really is a group, a
collective effort, and it's fascinating to watch this defense, which
(07:25):
has made up mostly six starters, made up of third
Day three draft picks and undrafted free agent players, at
testament to the Broncos' ability to scout and get talent
out of those later rounds.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Yeah, you know, it makes me think about other defensive units.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
Over the years that have played well collectively.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
And if I'm not mistaken, I think the Miami Dolphins
had a defense that they were called the No Name defense.
And when you say that now out loud, it sounds
as though it sounds derogatory. Yeah, it's like you're saying that,
you're saying some of this beveraging about the players defensively
on the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Unit, but it is what it is because a.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Lot of these guys were not highly touted, they were
not first round draft choices. But it does show value
to the level of depth that the Broncos have on
the defensive side of the ball and how this unit
defensively was collectively put together. So look, tip of the
cap to both George Peyton, but definitely tip of the
(08:26):
cap to those guys on defense, and most certainly tip
of the cap once again for Vance Joso coming up
with the week to week scheme putting players in precise
position so they can actually make plays, making the adjustments too,
because there was nothing from the Raiders in the second half,
and then they did exploit the Broncos a little in
the first half.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
They had nothing in the second.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Half, but you know, it was it was just it
was fascinating to watch how the clamps just tightened as
the game went along and they figured out what they
were doing.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
Broncos.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
You know, we get the Chargers next week, another division game,
another team that's banged up in reeling. All of a sudden, man,
you win that you're looking at four and two headed
into a Thursday night football game, Sean Payton's return to
New Orleans. This second quarter of the schedule. I know
it's seventeen games, not sixteen, but this seventh, this second quarter.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
Of the schedules.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
You don't want to look ahead, but it's shaping up
real nice for the never Broncos right now.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Well, no, you don't want to look ahead, and you know,
let's stick with the cliche saying is one game at
a time. But I know for the fan base, it's
hard for them to not look forward considering what they're witnessing.
But if you were there man in the stadium on Sunday, man,
it definitely hit us up.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
I want to hear what you guys have to say
on the text line.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
But it was electric and remind me, when was the
last time that this fan base was anything like it
was Sunday? Any something to celebrate like this three consecutive
victory Mondays.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
One of the first things that I did after the
game was ending and the crowd was filing out normally
would I do is I run down to the press,
you know.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
In the locker room and all that stuff.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
I actually stepped outside of the stadium and I just
stood out there let the kind of the crowd kind
of wash over me as they went past me, just
kind of hearing and kind of feeling what the what
the vibe was. And it really was a big deal
beating the Raiders for this crowd.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
You know.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Uh, the Raiders fans were there. They were pretty pretty
genial about it. They're like, well we got to the
last eight, you know whatever, we'll get back on time.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
It's fun. But they weren't like it was a lot
of smack. It was just that that kind of good banter.
But it was almost relief.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
It almost felt like relief from the crowd that you know,
finally got that. When that went out of the way,
there were a couple of people that say, you know,
they're building something here, a.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Couple of people that maybe Bow's the guy there was.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
There's a renewed sense of optimism that sort of starting
to build as an undercurrent here in Denver in the
fan base, at least for my anecdotal Uh, you know,
standing there and kind of letting the crowd walk by me, Well.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
You were not fortunate to come down the same ramp
that I came down, Oh, because they don't let me in.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
The VIP they you know, they I tried to flash
the credential to smile and the lady was not having it.
She ferguson all you know verse and the person behind
me that you guys come through pointed me down to
the uh pointed me down to the slum area.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
And then I had.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
To and I held opposite way. But you know what
coming down?
Speaker 4 (11:15):
The Rabi came down. I mean it was music to
my ears hearing rainers suck. Yes and oh and the
whole crowd had it going yes.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
And there were Raiders fans who were filing out, but
what could they say?
Speaker 4 (11:31):
They couldn't say a thing.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
And and some of the Broncos fans uh got a
little adolescence with it because because I mean they went
zumping up and and Raiders fans dancing and who ride
And I was just like, oh this is I hope
nothing happens. I hope it don't lead to fisticuffs. But
I I was so happy that it actually, uh it
(11:56):
took place. Oh, yes, look what happened, Harry a wet bleak.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
Look I don't know where this stuff started, all.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Right, I am a I am a ray can I
can I have a bastion of positivity.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Wait wait wait wait wait you were what now I
said a bastion Okay Island, I thought, I thought I misheard.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Look look yeah, then we get the wet blanket comments
everywhere because it was so funny because everybody's trying to
spin my tweet yesterday where I was sitting there said, uh.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
You know, he did a really good job.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Today, and then you know, put a little context in there.
It was like, you know that teams are trying to
pick on him because you got uh talking about Ronny
Moss and Satan and Jake Quan teams no better. So
I thought, Roddy Moss and people are underneath her.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
That's just an't even positive enough.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Like I just said, he's gone, that he's done really well.
Speaker 5 (12:43):
Like people have a narrative.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
I guess it's interesting that you say that people have
a narrative when you have somewhat led into that narrative.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
That you were speaking of. Yes, you've got more.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
I could never sir, absolute, I've just begun to defile myself.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Yes, as Val Kilmer says in Tombstone, I look for me.
I'll say this. I want to be positive.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
I've just I'm one of those people that what we
do here is were hired to, you know, to have
analysis on this and look at things and give the
proper context to it.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
I'm not trying to take away nobody's joy from winning.
I take joy when the Broncos are more fun to
cover when they're winning, right. But at the same time,
if you want cheerleaders, those are down the field. That's
not my job.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
My job is not to sit here and just pump
you up or pump somebody up on Twitter, you know,
be positive all the time.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
My job is to be accurate, not positive.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Well, I mean, I get what you're saying, but apparently
Blacos Country they've spoken because I'm sitting here.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Right blanket, Yes, put a little horsey.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
In your heart.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
We we just had someone to come in and actually
bring a sign that says, don't be a wet blanket.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Yeah right now. I was literally brought this up here
to the sporty perst.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
I mean, they're not just gonna bring this up just
to bring it up. So we have to find a
way to kind of ring out the All right, if
you will go for wet blanket to dry blanket, how
could we do that?
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Then look, in order to get a blanket clean, you
gotta wash it. It's gotta get wet, and so we
in order to travel through the sludge that we have
been through to Brocco Country over the last few years,
sometimes you gotta put a little water on it.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I'm just saying, you know, I think, I know we
were talking about trying to come up with a nickname
for the Broncos defense at Roley Moss.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
But I think the.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Orange blanket what no, no, no no, based on what
the fan just brought up here and set on the table,
don't be a wet blanket.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
I think I got a side nickname for you.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Okay, you ready? Yes, Linus, Yes, wasn't he a dirty one?
Speaker 6 (14:50):
No?
Speaker 4 (14:50):
That's pig pit? Do you know anything about I can't
re now, I'm trying to expend some long time lot.
I can't remember which one was which? Did you ever
watch Charlie Brown? Yeah, wasn't he was one that?
Speaker 2 (15:02):
No? No, that's that's.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
Man. Oh I love it. Just this is so easy
just to sit there and ka lions with this blanket. Yes. Look,
all I'm saying is when you when you have to
take something dirty and make it clean. What do you do?
Speaker 3 (15:20):
You get it wet? Okay, it gets cleaning them what
and then it's good to use again.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Right, Well, apparently the Broncos did the same thing on
Sunday and they washed them out.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
You mean the orange blanket defense or I'm.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Gonna make a stick the orange flanking it. Now, you guys,
try to do this to me. I'm gonna turn it around,
just trying to flip it. I'm leaning all the way.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
Start bringing a blanket to work. Really just like lions, Well,
you have to bring a teddy bear to to kind
of make it complete. I get to have a teddy
bear to double it up. That's fine, Yes, we gottahit
a break.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Guys, were live down here at the Sporty Pickle half
mile north of the four seventy on Peorium Enter to
win Broncos.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Chargers tickets before eight. You gotta be here. You gotta
do you think QR code do that before eight o'clock.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
If you come down here and you mentioned big Al,
you get a free twenty ounce Beeers.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
You can't beat that with the stick.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
So myself, Nick Ferguson here with you Broncos country tonight.
We'll be back after this Welcome back to it, Broncos
Country Tonight, Benjamin Albrighten, Nick Ferguson, Grant Smith here with you.
I thought it was a pretty positive game. There's some
things that you know, I want to see him clean up.
That first half one't great offensively. I think this quarterback
does a lot better when they don't have elite talent there,
(16:29):
you know, from the from the three techniques, you know,
I mean like when Wilkins went out all of a sudden,
the offense picked up. You know, it was the same
thing in Tampa. We know VI DEEVEA and they were
beating up on Tampa. I think when when teams struggle
to get between B gap pressure against the Broncos Bonex drives,
I think that's something to acknowledge though and say, okay, now,
how do we construct an offense where we get this
(16:49):
a lot.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Look, I'm not gonna say that it is. This is
simplistic as them about to lay out. But with what
you're saying, that is immediate interior pocket push. So that
means to me, if I'm playing the quarterback position, then
that pressure is coming between either the A or B gaps.
So that means though now you need to step outside
(17:11):
the pocket. And I've been saying this all season long.
We've seen bo excel what he is outside the pocket,
and his pocket awareness is, in my opinion, often chart
because he can feel years of that blind side defender
coming where it's almost like a you know, he ties
(17:32):
in the back of his head and now he can
step up in the pocket and what he's doing is
I think it's great. Other quarterback evaluators they don't like
it because ideas they wanted to want even to sit
in the pocket, go through the progressions.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
And find the open receiver. But like I told you.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Before, on any given play, you can stop the tape
and pause it and say, well, this guy's open, that
guy's open. But unless you're playing the quarterback position and
you can field.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
A pocket starts to collapse, you have no idea.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
And both did a great job extending plays and buying
time with his feet.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Yeah, you knows. Guys, you want to be the fifth
color right now?
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Three or three seOne three eighty five eighty five three
or three seven one three eighty five eighty five win
a pair.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
Of passes to the Great American Beer Fest.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Friday Session, October eleventh of course, guys can get passes
at Great American Beer Festival dot com, but you can
win him here Fifth Color right now a pair of
tickets to the Great American Beer Fest courtesy of KOA,
and I think there are again we got the run
game going effective. Javonte seems to be picking up steam,
and it's another thing where the more you feed him,
the better you look doing it.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Hey, I don't know about you, but fauld is the
best time of the year for me because you got Thanksgiving,
you got Christmas. You know why, because I get a
chance to eat. Yes, it may not be Thanksgiving for
Javonte Williams, but let that dude eat, feed him, And
you're absolutely right, bam.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
All season one. I don't know how many people in.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
This market have been talking about it, but I know
you and I have that oftentimes there's too much personnel
changes and it's hard for players to get.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Into a rhythm.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
And when Tyler Badey went out, it was.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
More of an.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Emphasis of leaning in more on Javonte Williams and allowing
him to get into a flow, get into a rhythm,
and now he's rewarding the Broncos there. I say, two
weeks in a row, not just in the run game.
The week known that Javon taken run and he ran
over one of the Raiders safeties on the sideline. He
(19:38):
jumped over in which I didn't know he was that athletic,
which he showed it.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
But he ran downhill and.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
This is where you talk about you want your running back.
Speaker 5 (19:48):
To finish runs right, always falling forward.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
In our backwards.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
He punished that safety for the Raiders, and I happen
to look at Steve Atwater.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
We just had that look on her face, like like
the bitter beer faith.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
But this is what Javonte can do if you allow
him to get into a rhythm well, and.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
It's what we need to do.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
I mean, this team in order to continue bo Nix's maturation,
in order to grow, in order to maximize who he is,
the le Broncos need to have They already have the
defensive identity, but they need to have a strong run game.
They need to have something else they can go to.
Because you're gonna.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Have ups and downs with a rookie. It is just
the way it is. You're gonn gonna have ups and
downs to the rookie.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
There are gonna be days he's he's spot on, They're
gonna be streaky set of times where he's spot on,
times where he's not. And you know, in the first
half of that game, it's just it just hadn't quite
clicked for him yet.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
And and then you know, in the second half it did.
And I you know, I'm hoping that this is a
harbor gay of things to come.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
I'm hoping that this is uh what it's going to
be going forward, that we're gonna see, you know, small
steps back, but larger steps forward as as he grows,
goes on and matures.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
And that was the other tweet that I put out.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
It was like, I hope this is what's what's coming
and not just us beating up on depleted defenses.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
See, you know, obviously we're gonna find out.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
So you know, we got a depleted defense that we're
sort of gonna be up against next week with the
with the Chargers who are a.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Little baged up. But this is I think a good
It was a massive shot in the arm. I think
for the entire team.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
There are no streaks anymore that we have hanging over
our head.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Well, the only streak right now is a three game
winning streak, right, That's what I say. That's kind of
the biggest street the Broncos have been able to put
that storyline in the bid as far as the Raiders
are concern. Celebrate it for twenty eight to forty eight hours,
but after that, once the Broncos go back to practice,
it's over. And I want to wind back for a
second and get back to Javonte Williams.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
When we look at Davonte on.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
The game yesterday and you look at only what eighty
one yards rushing, I think it's it's sixty one yards
worsting one.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
Yeah, excuse me.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
But the biggest part of Davonte Williams that I was
happy and elated to see was just the fact that
he was involved in the pass again last year.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Samaji p Ron was that guy. He was the guy
that the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Leaned on on third down as far as being able
to pick up those tough yards, especially.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Catching out of the backfield.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
But knowing as though we've seen Javonte do sixty one
yards on the ground fifty yards in the air, to
me that there's more to Javonte as far as how
he can be used and turn this offense to Broncos
or trying to build into a dynamic office.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
He was the leading receiver as well as the leading
rusher in the game.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
I look with the one thing that befuddled me, not
one thing, but the main thing that befuddled me is
the Marvin Mims situation. He got one catcher seven yards,
he gotta rush for seventeen yards.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
He's popping off punt returns.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
He's your most explosive weapon, and we're wasting reps with
Troy Franklin. Okay, and the criticle critical wide open drop
in the end zone. And if you and you and
I have both been to training camp, that ain't the
first one.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
No, it's not the first one.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
And it's a tough life when you get paid to
do something in your job description as a wide receiver,
it is in the description to say you're supposed to
receive the past. So if you are struggling in some
capacity to be able to do that, that builds distrust
(23:29):
in the quarterback and the officer coordinator who sets you
up for plays like that. And I think that's where
I believe Greg Dosage was.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Because we're gonna get to that in a minute. Put
a pin in that we We're gonna.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Get to that one in a minute, right, So Dosas
didn't play and Troy Franklin, I believe they're struggling with
the same thing, confidence after dropping passes, And you're right,
I mean, that's the past that Troy Franklin should have caught.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
That's the past my grandmother should have caught. But not that.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
I'm going I want to build an excuse for war
Troy Franklin. But yes, but here's what I'll say, when
when when you're not thrown to that often, sometimes it
makes some of those routine catches very difficult to haul.
In case in point, everyone was saying that Jerry Judy
(24:18):
couldn't catch. They say the same thing about Philip Lindsay.
The whole idea for me was it's concentration and how
many times are you going to the well?
Speaker 4 (24:27):
Do you come to me that often?
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Well, to be fair, Jerry Judy also dropped the touchdown
for the Browns this week as well. Okay, okay, but
there is something to be said for confidence. Five six
zeros of text line I wanted to get into you
started to get into it for a second there, Greg
Nelson is a healthy scratch. There were two things I
think that that we're on the we need to talk
(24:49):
about that side. One of those is Greg Nolson is
a healthy scratch. The other is the interaction between Mote
Nicks and Sean Payton.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
It was caught on camera. I loved it.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
To me, it reminded me of John and rich Gannon
barking at each other about something. It's two competitors sitting
there and that he's a battle barking at each.
Speaker 4 (25:05):
Other about something.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
What I didn't like was last year when Russell Wilson
just sat there and took it in Detroit.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
For me, I was just like you. When I saw it,
I was.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
Like, hell yeah, because Bo got fired up.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
The reason why I said that not not too kind
of just kind of stir up the altercation between coach
and player. But from a bow Knicks standpoint, to say
to all the bow Knicks critics who are still continuing
to say negative things about the kid, that's what you
want to see out of your young quarterback. You want
to see a certain type of fire from him where
(25:41):
he's letting you know and everyone else around him know
that yes, he gives a damn about winning.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Well, I will tell you this, we did. We did
get the the X race here. He went in for
an X ray after the game, and he does have
that dog getting yes, showing what I'm showing right here,
right there in the heart dog getting that dog in.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
No, I mean, this was it.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
You've seen quarterbacks in offensive coordinators or Blake Olers wolf
at each other before. We see Tom Brady do it
with Josh McDaniel.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
He said it with Bill O'Brien. With Bill O'Brien.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
We've seen Peyton Manning, that's what Peyton Manning and Bruce
Arians get into it one time.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
Well what the one.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
That was epic was Jeff's Saturday and Peyton man that
was that.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
But we see it with playing it and I'm saying,
like the people try to spinning this into something something
negative or something like that, and I'm like, this wasn't
the same thing as last year when Sean Payton was.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Like this would be totally too asparent about this. It's
it is and it isn't. And the reason why it
is because there was an exchange, right. It isn't because
both said something Russ didn't right, And if you look
at both of those situations, even though they were a
little different, but it comes back to maybe coach Peyton
(26:54):
had something he called and he wanted to be executed
in that precise way, but both saw something different.
Speaker 5 (27:03):
And for me, I'm gonna tell you, like this, man, I'm.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
Okay with a young quarterback showing that he has full
control of the offense by saying, here's what was called.
I'm gonna flip the formation and all I'm gonna put
a different guy in a different spot. I'm gonna motion
when it doesn't call for motion. I'm okay with that
because that is showing me command of the office.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
That's what you want him to do.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
So the idea is, though, don't hold him back, let
him go.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
But I love how you know today.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Coach Fatin was just like, this is a nothing and
for me, even though most people want to make a
big deal of it, it isn't nothing because these things happen.
But my most important thing is there is growth being
shown in leadership, real leadership being shown by bo because
he wasn't having it well.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
And I think the key to that whole interaction, in
the one part that no one is discussing, is if
you watch that, look at Davis Webb. Yes, any interaction, Yes,
because you see he agrees with the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
Yes, and you could see you could tell it. So
the general isn't infallible.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Sometimes the sergeants got to adjust, you know kind adjuster
in the mission and we had you know, we had
a quarterback, albeit a young one who had to adjust
fired during the mission and he went.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Out there to explain it.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Well, this wasn't the first time Davis where has actually
done it.
Speaker 5 (28:16):
Now he's done it differently in this particular.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Setting because he looked like he had bows back right
in front of coach Pate right now. He did do
it during the Patriots game where he was telling Russ,
hey man, this is paraphrasing here, this is what you do.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
You go out and be you.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
You go out and do you. But I like that
all around from everyone.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
Yeah, because you know, winning matters.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
And sometimes my mom said, tooth and tongue fall out,
but you need one another.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
And I was glad to see not.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
Just Davis Webb, the tight AINDT coach came over.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Yeah. Once again, that's what you want to see.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
A protection of team, but also a protection and a
wall being built.
Speaker 5 (28:56):
Around bow to say, you know what we believe in
this kid.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
Yeah, I thought that was a nothing burger.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
The one I did think was a big deal was
Greg Dulcage healthy scratched.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
Damn Greg, you go back and look at the table
over the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
The blocking hasn't been there, the catching hasn't been there,
the separation hasn't if Greg Dolsage has not done himself
any favors.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
Sean Payton said that was sending a message. He absolutely
sent Greg dolsa to a message. The question is how
does Greg dolsone respond.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Yeah, that's that's the first thing I thought about was
the message received. And even bigger than that, Donald Palm
I saw him on a solid large lunch guy.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
Excuse god.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
So I'm wondering the Brouncles are going to play the
charges coming up? Couldn Peyton give Donald Palm a little get.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
Back against this former? Absolutely, you have to.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
You have to. And once again I thought about it.
The moment I found out that Greg Doci's was a
healthy scratch, I was like, Okay, they're warming up to
get Don Palm in the game, and see how is
it going to impact Greg Dosage and his practice habits
during the We'll see.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
I'm interested to see how this thing shakes out.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
That was the eyebrow Raiser. I mean, we kind of
knew it was coming, but the eyebrow Raiser in terms of, oh,
they're actually going to do this thing, you know, and
it's not like they have a ton of athleticism or
top tier talent at the time.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Hold on, I.
Speaker 5 (30:18):
Thought Lucas Crawl was supposed to be that guy.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Well, he's in the Hall of Fame. That's a little
bit different. Before stop it, Oh my goodness.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
When we come back, I think we got Roamy Bean
would come back from CBS, one of our favorites. We'll
get a chance to talk with her about her observations
during the game.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
You listen about this country night right here on Kawe
