Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well them do it Broncos Country tonight.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
But with all Brian Nick Ferguson Grant Smith.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Nick Ferguson has decided to partake in the dining options here.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Looks like you get some wings there, buddy, What kind
of wings did you get? These? Are Carolina tangy? Are they?
First of all? Are they tangy? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:17):
I would say, And second of all, I won't begrudge
them if they're not from Carolina given the hurricane thing
right now, if that's a little false advertine, we had
to get Nebraska wings.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
There's Carolina style? Are they mustard based? You know what? Yeah? Yeah,
it's Carolina that I think it is? It like it's
like a tangy mustard. Okay, tangy len me muster there
you go. See, Yes, I do like some Carolina style barbecue.
Every now and again.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
We have been watching Monday night football, Kansas City Chiefs
New Orleans Saints as I speak, all tied up at
seven excuse me, not tied up seven? Ten to seven
Kansas City right now with the lead after Shaheed at
that massive touchdown and helps one of the legs in
my partlay there, Nick, which is all anyone cares about Well,
all I can, and I've got a micro you care
about I've got a microphone.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Robby Bean going to join his Bottom of the Hour.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I was an idiot on that one, so you guys
can and hold me accountable for that.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
I thought she was joining us in this segment. But
I was wrong. You know. It's one of those rare.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Moments where I am actually wrong about something. So I
want to do a picture. I acknowledged him just because.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
It's so bad that you what, we'll split it out.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
It's so hard to say. I you know, I thought
I was wrong. I turned out as mistaken.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
So with that being said, has there been some wrongdoing
as it pertains to Marvin.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Mins, Well, I think the wrong doing is not putting
his himself out there.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
On the field.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
I mean, he's an explosive play every time he touches
the football.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
What are we even doing here? You know we're wasting webs.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
So we were how many passing a targets did we
get Toy Frankel last game? Like six targets last game
and Marvin had none. He got one target in this
game and a carry I carry it went for seventeen guards.
By the way, I don't understand why we're not using
our explosive players to the development of our quarterback.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
The only thing that I could think of is that
Marvin Mahms final finds himself in the doghouse for some
unforeseen reasons. Like, if you've been around Marvin Mams, you
know he's one of the coolest dudes on the Broncos
and if you watch him on the field, you can't
help but notice his level of explosiveness.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
So if we're outside of the building.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
I mean, I can't mean you and I are not
the only ones scratching our heads wondering, Okay, well, if
we're seeing that there's a certain level of explosion based
on what we saw last year from Marvin Mamms that
accelerated him in his first year to the Pro Bowl,
why can't those skills sets be incorporated into the Broncos

(02:50):
current offense. Because I thought that was the reason why
the team moved on from Jerry Judy, because well, the
idea was Jerry was occupy in the space and reps
that were meant for Marvin Mims.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Ands was a cost controlled option.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
So now we're just having him as a glorified return
guy and bring him on for a player or two.
I don't get it, and I Sean Payton got a
little testy in that presser before the game.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
What was it, Friday, I believe where he was just like, well,
you know, I can show you the script we just
haven't made up.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
But that's not the answer, man. The answer is you
got your most explosive player here? What kind of script?

Speaker 2 (03:24):
What you know? What are we writing here? Were written
g Lee? Because that script is.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Bad if we're not getting our most explosive player on
the field.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Well, to look at.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Things from Hollywood standpoint, see that the writers write characters
into the script, and they write characters out of a script. Right, Hey,
this is the big freshindo of the movie. Right, we
want to write you in doing something very heroic.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
These are the offers I can approach with you whatever.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Obviously, this is what I'm expecting to happen for Marvin Mims.
And if you want to write a script, that script
is easy to write. It writes itself because you know
you have a guy who's very talented. Now, if you
if if the people in the building know something that
we don't, Okay, I get it. But here's what I'm
saying that it is undeniable that there's a certain level

(04:16):
of speeding an explosion that comes along with Marvin Mins
getting him in situation where.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
He can be explosive, like.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Like looking at what Clint Kubiak is dealing with Rashid
right their receiver. They put him in the slot, they
set him up, and it's okay to craft routes from
a progressional standpoint that helps out bow Nicks but also
clears things up to allow Marvin Mahams to work.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
My question at the end of the day is why
are we wasting reps on Troy Franklin. There isn't anything
that Troy Franklin does that does better than there is
anything he does better than Marvion mister.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
I get that, but let's not let's not dump on
I'm not trying to.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
I'm just trying to say, if you've got a better version,
why aren't we using it well?

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Once again, looking him this way, who drafted Troy.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Exams?

Speaker 3 (05:10):
I know, but it's higher. What have you done for
me lately? So if you draft the guy, what are
you gonna get me out on the field to let
me do something for you? I get it for me lately,
I know I could have run down there and.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Drop the ball the end zones. Why do they need that?

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Look if they need somebody to look like he's trying
to catch the ball between two frying pans, I can
run down the field to jump in the end zone
and be like, oh, I gotta go with the negative.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Let's talk about how Troy kind of got open, right
kind of?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Yeah, he got over. It was wide over wide. He
was more open than the door that's that's looking in
front of us right now. Yes, I get that.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Yeah, you want him to haul in the pass, absolutely,
But I'm not gonna turn this into a moment to
just dump on a guy who's struggling from a confidence standpoint,
I would just say, with Marvin Miams, does he need
to be involved in the offense more? If that means
that you build a small package a small pack, we.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Get him a little bump pass. We can get him
on some flat routes, get him on a bang See.
I don't post. I don't want to see into rounds.
I don't the fly. Sweet, you know what the end rounds?

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, I mean, listen, the Raiders were doing it yesterday
with Jakobe Meyers, where they got the guy, put him
in a cut split close to the tackle, and it
allowed him freedom to now come around and the ball
can be handed off to me. That is a waste
of speed for a guy who is very speedy and athletic.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
You want that guy going vertical.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Well, yes, well you got him ramped You got him
ramped up, and you can get him. You know, he
can boat race it the end. The other thing that
I like about that, though, is if you do if
you show it once, you can run it every play
and hand off the Javante up and it's gonna pull
a linebacker, it's gonna pull a safety.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
It's gonna pull somebody out of the box to go
with to to shade with that motion, man, and then
you can get downhill with your running back. It's oh,
this guy, it's a lot of box. I gotta play
for you. Right. We saw Broncos line.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Up in the three mess that bunch of the right
side talking the Jordan Humphrey and hey, Jordan Humphrey. He
did a great job beating tackle. It was keeping his feet,
his jersey was almost taken off, right, But here's here's
a comeback.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
To that play or the builds up from that play.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
The Broncos have run that play all season along with
different guys. Run it again, but let me him throw
it because I think it was the Jordan Humphrey was.
It was another play, but I think I'm trying to
remember who was the receiver. But there was a receiver
running down the middle of the field wide open on
one of those little bubble screens, and I was thinking.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
I was telling Dave Logan and Rick Lewis.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
I was like, dude, the Raiders are prime for a
bubbling goat.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
This is the type of the bello. Yes, all of
those things are there.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Even with the Broncos have a Tennessee to run curl flat, right,
that's kind of their number one concept. You can run
the same curl flat concept. But when Dvante goes to
hit the flat, he turns it up for the wheel.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Hey, I'm I'm I'm here for all this kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
I'm here for I just the thing that baffles befuddles
me is the fact that we have explosive weapons that
we're just not using. And frankly, we're not a good
enough football team to just not use. We're not good
enough to leave the Ferrari in the shed and take
the U go on the road trip.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Okay, who's the hugo? As if.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
I'm sinking your generalities here, we need to get a
point A to point B as fast as possible. You're
not running out to the you know, you're not running
back out to the shad and be like, you know
what we do with guys. Let's pile on the dump truck.
You know we're taking a lamp.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Sometimes you need that. The times you need a dump truck.
This isn't that.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
I'm just saying, you know what, we need to get
from pointing to point be as fast as possible.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
You're not running out there and be like, you know what,
top on the moped.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
If we wanted to look at where the Broncos offense
is right now and where they need to be, I
want to go.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
To Germany and talking about limit. Don't speed limit at all.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Why can't the Broncos get into two minute offense? Why
can't it every drive or open up a drive, open
a kickoff, go fast paced?

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah, to minute offense coming out of halftime. If you
have the ball, tune it offense.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Let's set the defense out and see what the barriers
are so you know, with the coaches upstairs in the box,
here's where we can attack the defense because one, you're
playing at home, they're tired, and two there's a lack
of focus when you are tired.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Plus I think doing it right out of the break
at halftime can expose a defense because you've gone in
there to get whatever little adjustments you can get. I mean,
halftime adjustments is a little bit overblown. You want to
enough time to go in there recraft a defense. But
you can tell, like, if you're going fast, they're gonna
be doing whatever the adjustment is. You're gonna see it
in real time right off the bat and be able
to okay, here's what they're doing now that they're going
to halftime talking about here's what they're doing. Now we

(09:52):
counter that with this, and they've got no time to
huddle up and do that.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
You know what, Here's where I would like to see
bo get to and I think he has the capabilities
of doing that. Is we've seen plays from Aaron Rodgers
where there is a.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Run play call.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
He notices he looks out on either side, left and right,
he noticed coverages off and he just gets up and
throws the smoke route right to me. I want to
see bol get to that particular point and have the
ability to come to the line and say, you know what,
Courtland a sudden Josh Renos have not been involved in
the game plan. So here's what I'm going to tell
those guys. Hey, listen, here's the play that's called.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
But I'm gonna look take off. I'm gonna look to
you first.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
If I see something right, just just know I'm gonna
look to you first.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
And it's a back show to faith.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Yeah, I mean, which we haven't seen much of that
at all. Well we saw wait, wait, we saw it
the first time in Tampa. Right, let's say we saw it.
We saw it one time in Tampa or.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Two times in Tampa, I think it was, but it
was it disappeared. Yeah, and I'm like, we need to
go You need to be going back to that because
you're setting up you're setting up the vertical game with that.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Now there's a double move, so we so we're gonna
need Shaggy and School being the missing reveil just to
figure this without.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
For a loop. I don't understand why.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
If a concept is working, my idea is stick with
that concept.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Yeah, if it's working, keep doing it until they stop it, exactly.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
That's uh, that is the entire premise of my of
my career. It's working, I'm gonna keep doing it until
they stop me. That's a I exist solely on the
radio on that maximum Yes hits the wet blanket, Yes, five, six, six,
nine zeros in text.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
I don't want to talk about those uniforms though, real quick,
that much of a football fashion guy, but man, them
things were popping down there on the field.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
I love those uniforms. Okay, so real talk.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Here's something that I don't think the fans got a
chance to really take this in. When I was on
the field and we saw the nineteen seven seventy seven,
like the old throwback you know banner and the uniforms.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
And all that. You know how on the lower bowl
usually there is that plastic pet they read it, the
whole padding all the way.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Yeah, but here's something that was really awesome and I
don't I don't know if it was Hayley Sullivan who
the team CMO, I don't know who it was, but
it was awesome, Like if you can feel it, it
was all.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Like a jersey.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
It was like an old throwback jersey because I was
I was drawn to it like a Maltu.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Flame and and and I don't know if anyone saw me.
I was just really, that's what you were doing.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
I thought they had you cleaning off the walls.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
It was your new end stadium duties. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
I touched it because it looked it looked like what
I was seeing, but I was unsure and I wasn't
sure if I could actually touch it.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
But I touched it anyway. But you know what, then
when I touched I was like, oh, you gotta be
careful with that.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
You're not always you can't always just go touch the
thing you're not supposed to tie.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
I'm just saying that.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Sometimes no one was telling me I couldn't touch it,
and then I didn't ask.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
I just touched it. And then when I touted it,
I was like, oh this this Wow. If you're just
joining us, Nick is actually.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Described this is nice text.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Now.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
That and the attention to detail on redoing the whole
retro thing they were they were using seventies fonts on
the wall, yeah, or Broncos football and then the Broncos
you know the end zone they used the set. They
were using the same the old seventies fonts Cobby that
they used them on the jumble On too.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Yeah, there was a real attention to detail. The cheerleaders
used the sort of throwback they used the the jackets.
They didn't use their old cowboy hats that they used
to that. I thought that had been cool touch if
they put the stetson's back on.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Okay, here's the.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
One thing that I did not know, and maybe profit
can tell us since it was kind of going back
to nineteen seventy seven right now.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
I know the team did a great.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Job bringing in different types of company su provide food.
But I was thinking, like, what was what was the
hot food during nineteen seventy seven?

Speaker 2 (13:41):
What was the it fools because I'm fun fondw. Yeah,
it's probably like it is because it was a brand
new thing back then. That makes a lot of sense. See, Yeah,
I'm glad they didn't do the fun due because no,
I'm not you bring the fun now. I want FONDW.
Thanks for that.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
No, because I'm thinking like fon due that's like cheese
and stuff that.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
The people it was still little stuff all over. Maybe Raiders,
fans spilling it on purpose? Who knows, there's criminals, But.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
What was there? Was there any orange crust soft drinks?

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Because it was a real thing, that's watch name that
they weren't I know, But I'm like, dude, what are
you doing here?

Speaker 2 (14:16):
What are you doing here? I was born at night.
I wasn't born last night. I I'm just saying, were
there any in the stadium? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
I don't know if they can do that too with
the contracts and obligations.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
I mean, the Pepsi coke is high door anyway. That
would have been awesome if they could.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Have because everything I remember in the yes, so I.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Have to check on that, but yeah, that that would
have been awesome.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Debarcos did a great job with building out that whole thing,
the spectacle of it, the hype of it. Uh, it
was amazing Man and Ben just to pull off that
wind the way that they did.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
And it wasn't like.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
A last second drive, last second field goal.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
You got the fourth quarter to celebrate that thing. You
know that.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
It's one of those things the fans really got the
fourth quarters stand up, applaud the team.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
The team was you know, was getting into it. I
love the fact that bo Nick's get a whole lap
of the stadium.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Slap and everybody's head who wanted to be slapped, all
that kind of stuff. It was just good, good, minor
attention to detail type stuff.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Mojo. Yeah, that did it really, uh really resonates well
with me. So five six sixtens text on you still.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
I got about twenty minutes twenty five minutes maybe tops
to get out here to the Sporty Pickle Bar and
Grill about a half mile north of E four seventy
on Peoria. You got a chance to enter to win
Broncos Chargers tickets, giving those away at eight, So you
got a little bit of time left to.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Get out here. When we come back where we Bean,
It's gonna join us Seius to Broncos Country.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Not ok way, welcome back to it Broncos Country tonight.
Benjamin Olbrden, Nick Ferguson, Grant Smith here with you. I
gotta run right out to the KA comments for the
hotline and.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Bring on a good friend from CBS Roby Bean Romey.
How you doing.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
I am doing great. You guys got you know another win?
I mean, like, let's let's go.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
The only streak we have to worry about now, is
the win streak is nick and so succinctly put it earlier.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
I thought it was all around.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
A pretty good weekend for Denver Broncos fans. I thought
the uniforms were hit. I thought the stadium, you know,
kind of retro updates were a hit. And then you know,
he got out there on the field and he didn't
look like it from the from the starting snap, But
once passer Tan got that one hundred yard pick six,
the Broncos were off to the races.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
Oh you know, you know, as they say, it's not
how you start, how you finish.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
But truly, like we talk about all.

Speaker 6 (16:29):
The time in sports, how the momentum, the game changing
plays and sometimes a lot of times in games there's
like a couple of moments.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
But that was the moment of the game. I mean,
Patter Tan, for all intents and purposes, won that game
for the Denver Broncos and the players.

Speaker 6 (16:46):
You know, all said it in the locker room, both
on offense and on defense, and it's it's a testament.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
To the impact player kind of players as that pat is.
That was going off the rails quickly, right, and nothing
you're like, oh no, and you just kind of kept saying, man,
the defense's got to make a big play, and they
came up as a big play. And I feel like
we're starting to sound make a broken record, but it's
becoming a thing where we say, last year or two
years ago, the Broncos wouldn't have come up with that play,

(17:14):
they wouldn't have found a way to win. And I
think we're really seeing something really start to build here
right where they made that play and then they took
hold of the game and they took parge of it
after that.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
And they didn't let it go.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
And that's significant when you look in like the growth right.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
Of a team and where they can go.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Well's speaking of growth, like Davonte Williams led all Broncos
receivers in receptions yesterday. Is this more about the evolution
of the Broncos office or more about the evolution of
Javonte Williams.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
You know, I think the best part about Davonte Williams
was that game looks like, you know, it was vintage,
vintage day, vintage uniforms, vintage alumni there everybody, and it
was like vintage javan Williams. I think that's honestly the
best he's looked since his surgery, where he was really
pushing the pile and he was breaking those tackles, and
we just haven't seen that kind of a game since

(18:11):
he had a surgery. So I think that was significant
for Javonte Williams in a big way, and also significant
for the Broncos offense because I think the big plan
was to have Javonte kind of be that big, cruising back,
and there were doubts as one of those people that
was definitely had my doubts after the first few weeks
of the season of can they do this? So I

(18:31):
think it is really big for this offense that bo
can rely on Javonte.

Speaker 6 (18:35):
Now both in the past and the run game to
make those cruising tackles, to push the pile like he
was doing, because we really haven't seen that until now.
I think it was significant for him, significant for the offense.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Speaking of relying on, you know, a guy that Boat
was able to rely on back in college was Troy Franklin.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
However, in that game, another drop from Troy frankl that
a guy who's you know, sort of struggled with that.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Nick says it's a confidence thing, and I'm.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Not disagreeing with that by any stretch, but it feels
to me like we're wasting reps on Troy Franklin rather
than using our most explosive weapon, Marvin Mims, in the
way that we could.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
How do you feel about that?

Speaker 1 (19:16):
And are you disappointed we don't see more of Marvin
Mims on the field.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Yes, Okay, two parter, let's start with Detroit Franklin. I
think I think it is a confidence thing.

Speaker 5 (19:27):
And it's only getting worse.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
And I know he's both.

Speaker 5 (19:29):
Teammates, and we're being honest.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
I think the reason why he's probably getting rep is
because of that Oregon connection. I'm not so sure Troy
sees the field as much as he does if he
didn't have this, if he wasn't both TV right, I
think they're kind of relying on that, and there is
when you looked at that play, there's a reason why
they got him. I mean, he's got like eight yards
separation so that he can make the catch.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
The potential is there, but like you said, the potential,
it's also proven with Marvin Mim.

Speaker 4 (19:59):
I'm not sure why Marvin, who is a veteran at
this point, is not getting more reps.

Speaker 5 (20:04):
I'm totally with you.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
I have been campaigning for more Marvin men because every
time he gets out there seems to make a really
big play. And if we're looking for a seatzer, I
don't know why we're not given that tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
As Troy Franklin develops.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
More and maybe comes in when he's more ready, because
Marvin certainly seems like the more ready guy and he's
going to get that separation as well. I completely agree
with you.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
When we look at the Broncos defense. Another huge game
for them, so I want to tip my cap to
Vance Joseph.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
But let's talk about the depth of this team.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
So Alex Singleton is injured in the Tampa game, he
plays in that injury, But justin Streanard, who most look
at Justice Sharanard as just being primarily a special teams guy,
he's the guy in an off season that almost left
the Broncos and signed with someone else, but opted to
come back. What are you liking about Justice Sernard and
how he's feeling it in that middle lineback of position.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
I mean, first and foremost, it's just really awesome when
you see a guy get an opportunity, a guy like
you said, has been relegated to a special teamers, and
that's kind of what you thought he'd always be to
get this opportunity and to step up into that role,
to be ready for it and to do.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
A fantastic job.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
I mean in the Jets game where the first play right,
his first shab.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
At it and he goes with Zack Aaron Rodgers, which
is awesome and obviously huge confidence for him. But I
just think that's really cool, like first and foremost to
put that out there, and it's awesome to see him
making the most of an opportunity.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
But he's also proving that he's totally ready. The deets
on this defense is something that we're not talking as
much about, but I would see Wilson goes out who.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
Is arguably the heart and full of that team, right
and this.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
They don't miss the steps. The leading tackler, they don't
miss the steps or not comes in and he's absolutely
ready and then speaks to him and being ready for
his moment. Else speaks to Ance Joseph.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
And his ability to put all of these guys in
positions at.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
Sixty I can get everything on one of these guys.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
They talk about how much fun it is playing VJs
defense because he really gives everyone opportunity. He puts them
all in the right position, and it's really cool to
see and even the guys in the back, the young guys,
everybody has really been stepping up and elevating their game.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
And when there's been some injuries.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
That you thought, Okay, this is going to be a
significant blow, and yet they haven't. They haven't give to
be I know, I just said that like four times,
but it really is impressive to see what we've got
going on with the depth on the defense.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Talk about Roby being from CBS, Romeo went a dovetail
off of that because I you know, talk to some
people around the league and they expect Vance Joseph to
get head coach he interviews this cycle.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
It could be a bettersweet thing.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
On the one hand, are we hoping that Advance gets
a head coach job, because well, you root for people
to succeed around here, but also the Broncos give two
third round compensatory draft picks.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
If you were to be given a head coaching job.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Up and then be the next man up philosophy here,
you would expect Jim Leonard would be the next defensive coordinator.
Do you think that that may take away from the
Broncos defense long term? So do we are we are
we hoping that Advance gets a head coaching job of
so season?

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Are we not hoping for that?

Speaker 4 (23:17):
I feel like you're a mad person if you're like,
I hope you don't get that job. But I feel
like Vance has proven that he is just he's an
excellent defensive coordinator, and.

Speaker 6 (23:27):
It's one of those things he really he.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
Really relates to his players. You can do how much
they love playing for him. You can see how much
they just they enjoy it. He puts them all in
good positions. He dials up all these you know, exotic
looks that they love, they love playing, they love doing.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
You hope that right if his disciple comes in, they
pick up where they left off, and that often happens.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
So I think it's one of the things that it
would be bittersweet though, because he's just doing such a
good job with this team and you just never know
what you're going to get next. But at the same time,
I think it would be great provance because I think
we can all agree that his first time, his first
head coaching job, he didn't get a fair shake, right,
We kind of all do that. There was a lot

(24:09):
of dysfunction going on there. I think he didn't have
a lot of say and who was drafted.

Speaker 5 (24:15):
During his tenure as head coach.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
I just don't think he really got a fair shake
to really really give it as off as a head coach.

Speaker 5 (24:23):
And so I think it would be great to see
him get to try again.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
And I think he learned a lot from that experience,
the older, wiser, blah blah blah, and.

Speaker 5 (24:30):
So I think it would be great to see him
take that second opportunity, take what he learned, and transform
that to.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
Be really successful head coach, because he certainly deserves it.

Speaker 5 (24:40):
He's a leader of men, as they say.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
I believe that was the line they kids getting used
when they hired him.

Speaker 5 (24:44):
But he certainly is. So I'm pulling for.

Speaker 4 (24:46):
Him, you know. I hope he gets that opportunity, and
I hope he's successful because the good guys, he's a
good defensive coordinator and he deserves it.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
Well, let's talk about something that is one of the
more talked about things that is not the PS two
pick six, but the altercation or entanglement or discussion that
took place between Boon Knicks and Sean Payton.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
We all saw it.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
What were your immediate thoughts after you took a look
at it?

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (25:15):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
I love it.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Give me it over and over again. There's a lot
of reasons I love this. So I think that one
Chanpayne likes it. I think he definitely absolutely likes it.
Sean Payne, as we know, is a tough coach. He's
gonna push and push.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
And pushes players, and there's just not a lot of
guys that have.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
The authority to push back and for bone Nicks as
a rookie to be like, no, man, I'm push him back.
I don't like whatever happened here. You love that. As
a player, you gotta love that this Bonnicks is making
it know that this is his team and he wants
his team to succeed, that there's something he doesn't agree with.
Just because he's a rookie. He's not gonna sit back.
This shows why he's team voted him captain. I think

(25:56):
he loves to see it. I think in general, probably
in that building, guys a lot of people that push
back on Sean Payton. Right, So the s a Rookie's
doing it is really impressive, and I think it speaks
to go next. I think talking to a lot of
the guys in the locker room last night, they loved it.
They all said, he that's a CHRISTI competitor. He's so confident,
and that's really important, right to have their stock behind

(26:19):
a guy that they truly believe in that he's their
captain for a reason. So I think it's great, and
I think that if there are things that are not
working in this offense, you now have the confidence of
both going to be local enough to be like I
don't like that. Does that mean Jean Payton's gonna change it?
I don't know, but maybe the evolution is both starts
out of the league a little bit more as a

(26:41):
lot of scrimmage.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
I don't know, but I love what I saw.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
I loved that he didn't care and that he's not
afraid shance, and I think that's really important for the
quarterback dynamic. Whenhom Payton's are head coach, right, we all
know obviously Drew Brees is that way. We all saw
last year him just chewing out Russ and Russ didn't
say anything, and obviously there's a lot more that went
into that relationship. But to see this and to see

(27:05):
a guy.

Speaker 6 (27:05):
That pushes back, I think it's fantastic.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
And I think that fans and players alike have got
in love with the thought.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Talking with CBS as romy be and it was kind
of a stark juxtaposition to what happened last year and
in Detroit.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Want to shift gears here a little bit.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
We get the Nuggets and av seasons or getting ready
to start.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
You know, a lot of.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
Preseason stuff going on right now, the new look Nuggets.
What you what have you thought so far?

Speaker 2 (27:31):
You know?

Speaker 4 (27:31):
What I think is so interesting about the Nuggets is
that the national narrative is Nuggets got worse, and primarily
just because they lost KCP. But I'm a little bit
confused what everybody's talking about, because I don't think the
Nuggets got worse. I do think Christian Brown is ready
for this opportunity. You do miss KCP. You wish they
could have kept KTP, But I think Christian Brown is

(27:51):
ready and he's a really fierce defender. I don't think
they're going to lose a.

Speaker 6 (27:55):
Step on defense with Christian Brown in that role and
bringing the ruffle.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
I like a lot of people kind.

Speaker 6 (28:02):
Of said this, this is a gamble.

Speaker 4 (28:04):
Rights either really going to pay off or it's not.
But it's early days. But I love the tenacity and
the ferocity and the competitiveness that he needs.

Speaker 6 (28:14):
I think one thing about the Nuggets that makes them
so great. It's like kind of a mellow locker room
in many ways.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
I think he brings a totally different energy that they
don't have. And I think it's going to be really,
really great, And so I feel good about it. I
think that I can I.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Can't wait to see the dynamic of how.

Speaker 4 (28:30):
They're kind of rotating Russ and kind of you know,
staggering him with Yo kitchen. He even said he's here to.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
Push them all.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
I think that's going to be great. So I think
right now I feel good about the Nuggets. And again,
and I know we say this all the time, but
it's simple and true. When Nicoliokich is on the court,
do you have a chance always to win because he's
just the best player on the planet. I love the
means of him, like partying all summer, and then he
comes in his first preseason game, he casually drops what

(29:00):
was it twenty six eighteen and something. I don't know
what it was, but it's just great. So I feel
good about where they're going I think they're going to
be really hungry again now fatigue, and again it comes down.

Speaker 5 (29:11):
To how do you manage the players?

Speaker 4 (29:12):
Because that was the biggest thing last year it will
be the biggest thing again. Can the bench outside of
lest book really step up? And that's going to be
the big question rather you know Peyton Watson, but time
will out. I seed young kids already.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Well, you know, as far as managing is concerned, you
have Cavin Booth who has one clear vision and Coach
Malone was his clear vision. And for me, when I
look at him, it's like, well, what's one of these
guys are going to win at the end of the
day because Nikola Jokic his window is shrinking by the
year and wanting to keep that window open. When you

(29:50):
look at both Kevin Booth and Coach Malone, how they
look at the game of basketball and how they approach it,
who do you think is probably going to win at
the end of the.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Day and get their way.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
As far is incorporating their philosophy within a Nuggets.

Speaker 6 (30:03):
Organization, well, I think it's Calvin Moose because at the
end of the day, Calvin Moose.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
Controls that I Michael alone has the job or not.
And but I also think that I would say on
that team, note, a lot of that team and a
lot of discussion that goes on with that team is
what Nikoliokich wants.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
And Michael Malone is there.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
Because Nikoliokich wants him to be his head coach. So
they're I guess they're both pretty pretty secure. But I
do think that Malone's very open right at the end
of the last season about realizing that that he overworked
his players. So now we see does he really listen
to that? And I do think there will be pressure

(30:41):
on him. I think Calvin Mooth is not afraid to
put pressure on him and to demand that, you know,
things look a little different, and so I think there
will be a concerted effort because everybody is fully.

Speaker 5 (30:52):
Aware that if you wasted golijokic.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
Yours, that's just.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
An abject failure.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
He just simply can not do that. And I think
Malone knows that, and Calvin Booth knows that, and they're
gonna do whatever they can.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
They look at.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
Last year and realize maybe one got away last year.
I think it was a good moment for everybody to
be like we We simply can't waste the opportunity because
when Yoki is gone, he's gone and it will never
be recaptured.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Robby Bean from CBS wore we always appreciate it, Roby,
when you get a.

Speaker 4 (31:26):
Chance to join us, Oh guys, it's always a tree.

Speaker 5 (31:29):
Hopefully we'll be talking about more wins.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
Yes, after the Chargers game this weekend, fully expected.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
Look forward to hearing from you. Then.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
Don't work, don't forget to wear your kaki pansum Sunday.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
I will I will wear. I'm gonna work.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Wow wow, wait wait, don't tell me you got a
khaki suit.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
I mean I could find one between them. Come romy
just for you. I'm gonna do it. Khaki suit. It's happening,
Broncos Country. Now I gotta hit a break. We'll be
back after this
