Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Justin Fields week, so you knew you knew there
was going to be some sparks flying.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Hey, I have no expectations for Justin Fields against this
Broncos defense.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
I want to be very clear about the figures.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Favorite quarterback in the NFL, Justin Fields, the guy he
wishes the Broncos would jettison bow knicks for.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Don't don't say, don't put that evil on me, Ricky
Bobby All. All I think is that he was going
to be more productive than Russell Wilson.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
This year and lead his team to more wins, and
or he.
Speaker 4 (00:29):
Has not done the line. I'm right on one of them.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
It's five kicks into this season.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
Not even close to a win, get out of year.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
It's funny that we picked two starting quarterbacks that have
combined for zero wins. There's not many of those in
the league this year, with with how strong the parody's been.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Well, I had all my chips on the Cincinnati Bengals
trading for Russell Wilson because they needed somebody who could
throw the deep ball down of those two receivers and
just try to get something out of this season, and
the Bengals had to go. I set the bar so
low all you had to do was go get Russell Wilson,
and the Cincinnati Bengals managed to find a way to
limbo under that bar today by trading something. By trading
(01:13):
a draft pick for the corpse of Joe Flacco. Maybe
him a starter right away. He'll be starting to get
some packers this weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
He's maybe the quarterback in the league who is most
vulnerable to pressure.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
You know, he's find the worst offensive line in football.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
It's nuts. I mean, that is a recipe for disaster.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
I think it's going to be a disaster, to the
point where I don't even know why they did it.
I don't know why they Flacco. I don't know if
he's an upgrade on Browning at this point. If you
look at the Browns since they came back as an
expansion team in ninety nine, this year, with Joe Flacco
at the helm, was the Browns' worst ever offensive start
through four games, but worse than any Johnny Manziel year
(01:56):
or Deshaun Watson year or filling the blank terrible Browns quarterback.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
This one took the cake. You didn't even use the
bad ones.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Man, where's the Brandon Whedon Pole here, where's the Tim
Couch pull, Spurgeon Win, Charlie Frye.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Robinson, Oh Man, yeah, dtr that one's that's it. Especially
refer how about how about Jehaun Kaiser.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Oh just showed Kayser.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
It's a good pull. They've forgotten about that.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
There's so many Browns quarterbacks I've forgotten about over the years.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Kevin Hogan, how about that? The Pogan's heroes? Yes, it was.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
We didn't have case Keenum up there. Who'd you had
when Shermer was That was Cold McCoy. I think Keenum
had a cup of coffee in Cleveland. I know it's
getting cole McCoy was up there. I was trying to
think when Shermer was up there, who was up there?
Because usually he brings his guys, which are usually Sam Bradford,
Case Keenum, So you know you'd think that you would
think one of those guys would have been up there.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
But yeah, it was uh an interesting.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Day as the Cincinnati Bengals acquired Joe Flacco from the
Cleveland Browns, and Joe Flacco will do something I don't
think anyone else has done in NFL history before, and
that is start twice against the same team in the
same year, not in a division game for different teams.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yeah, that's got to be fairly rare. I think the
Broncos might have had one of those in a trade
a year or two.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Kyle Orton started against the Broncos after they traded in.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yes, or the Chiefs, But I.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Don't think I can't think of anything else that, you know.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah, no, I'm spacing on the one that I thought
I had. It's definitely a rarity, and I think it
makes that divisional matchup a little spicier. I mean, in
division trades are very rare, especially in division trades featuring
a quarterback, where it's one team trying to save their season,
like this isn't just for a backup. It's the Bengals,
(03:49):
you know, Hail Mary attempts to try and keep this
season on the rails, and the Browns were happy to accommodate.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Which you looked around and.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
You said, well, I can see the quarterbacks that are available,
or get them, get a Flacco and if something off,
Blacko can start for the Steelers next year. He will
have completed the division circuit and so many that would
be pretty fun.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
But so many teams, are so many.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Quarterbacks out there that they could have gone with instead
that I think would have been better options, and they
completely overlooked him, like Russell Wilson. You mentioned why not
jameis Worthstams Winston either either.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
The only reason I think you don't go for Winston
and you do go for Russ in that situation.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
And this has nothing to do.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
With our bet.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Although it would play favorite.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
That would be a motivator. Is the Winston's going to
be looking for a job after that. Russ isn't like Russy.
You know you can bring Russy in. Russ knows what
it is. He knows he's there till Burrow comes back,
and that's it. Jamis is going to be looking for
a job. I won that if he succeeds.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
I crossed my mind and maybe this is totally far fetched.
You could tell me what about Derek Carr. The whole
retirement there was a little fishy. It seemed like he
was demanding to trade out in New Orleans. They wouldn't capitulate,
and then all of a sudden he decides to retire
with the show.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
I think car might be back next year, but I
think that shoulder. The shoulder.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Really, there isn't a shoulder. There is a shoulder issue there. Okay,
so I think that that would be a next year
type deal. But there's so many like, is Ryan Tannehill's
arm that cooked?
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Yeah, that's a good one.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
I'm just like anybody who knows the Zach Taylor offense
and Ryan Tannehills one of them.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Is his arm that cooked?
Speaker 5 (05:21):
That?
Speaker 1 (05:21):
You're like, you know Flacco, Like, I mean, at this point,
because that's something that I would have I would have
explored before it.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
Joe Flacco at this point.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Does the Browns throw in a free wheelchair?
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Yeah, I know it's nonsensical.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
It's like you ran out of gas on the highway
and you filled your car up with a water bottle.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
Like, I mean, you're.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Putting something in the gas tank, but that's not going
to do anything for you. Like, yes, you technically traded
for a quarterback. I think you're in the exact same spot,
if not.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
A worse spot than you were with Jake Brown.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Here here's a guy that doesn't know the offense and oh,
by the way, can't complete passes anymore. The best thing
he ever did was throw the ball deep and get
get DEPI calls.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Yeah, and he's incredibly susceptible to pressure right now, and
you have the worst offensive line in the league.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Like I would I would say that he's a statue
back there, but that might be doing a disservice to
the mobility of concrete statues.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
For real.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
It's it's it's something else he is. It's like he
ran into Medusa. It's terrible.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
It's it's not good. He makes Kurt Warner look like
Michael Vick at this point. It is it is not
I don't understand. And then watch him come in like
the world on fire or something, you know, like watch
what I say all this and watch Joe Flacco come
in and just tear it up.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
I'm sure he'll have a.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Game or two, you know, like when he had the
Browns on that playoff front a couple of years back. Here,
it's just Joe Flacco has made his career on like
three or four four game stretches exactly. And I think,
you know, with Sivard Chase t Higgins, if you're going
to just throw up a prayer to any pair of
receivers in the league, that's probably the best one to
do it too. I could see him just the stars
aligning one week and he has some crazy fantasy line.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Well, I was just say I could see that. I
could see the thinking behind this.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
You know, ten years ago when Flacco was fifty years old,
you know, your scheme and receivers open like Higgins and Chase,
but except that Browning can't get him the ball because
he didn't in the arm strength.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Okay, I see the thinking here.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
The reality is, how is the protection going to hold
up for old man Flacco to be able to get
them the ball?
Speaker 2 (07:10):
And when it's not holding up, how is that going
to fare. It's one thing to have Joe Burrow and
you know, Jake Browning behind this offensive line and we've
seen the wear and tear it it's put on Burrow.
It's a different thing to have a near forty year
old quarterback behind this offensive linderor plus forty. Is he
past forty at this point? Yeah, I don't know how
long he's going to last.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Well, that's the other part of the show's been dinged
up over the last couple of years.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
You know, Flacco is not exactly the picture of health.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Over the last couple of years, and so that's you know,
I mean he was born Let's see, he would be
maybe forty almost forty one.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
He'd be forty one in January.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Class of two thousand and eight, Draft class of two
thousand and eight, same one as Matt Ryan.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
And he saw Matt Ryan.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Be completely cook and cooked in twenty twenty two against
the Broncos, and right here's Flacco, you know, three years later,
still kicking.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Yeah, Joe Flacco in his career, ten years with the Ravens,
and of course he came to the Broncos for that
one ill faded season and the New York Jets way.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Might have not been that wrong with to just entreat
his prime comment. He's kept kicking. I mean, he's had
a seven year career.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Beyond that, you see the Ravens for ten years, to
Broncos for a season, the Jets for a season, the
Eagles for a season, back to the Jets for two seasons,
the Browns for a season, the Colts for a season,
back to the Browns earlier this year, and now with
the Cincinnati Bengals. That I mean, as long as they're
gonna keep writing Jets, you know, I guess you kind
of you kind of have to. But this is this
(08:38):
is fascinating to you because I'm like, yeah, what happens
when he gets hurt?
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Then what you're going back to Jake Browning? And also
why did you.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Even have those other quarterbacks on the roster If you
looked at the two guys you have on the practice
squad and the two guys you have on your active
roster right now, and you're like, man, we suck.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
We gotta go get Joe Flacco.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Why do you even Sean Clifford, Mike White, Brett Rippin,
and Jake Browning on your roster to begin with Brett yet?
Because it has the quarterback room.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
The rest of them, eh.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
And it just freaks the desperation and like again a
Hail Mary to try and save Zach Taylor's job, but
knowing Bengals ownership, maybe he's not in that much trouble.
But it just the whole move reeks of desperation where
this team was barely beating the Browns, like needed some
real lucky breaks to beat the Browns in Week one
(09:32):
with Joe Burrow and with a much healthier team than
than they have right now. I don't think for replacing
Joe Flacco with Jake Browning is the cure all to
this team that gets them.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
You know, they're they're in a deep hole right now or.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Two and three, about to be two and four against
the Rams here.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
I don't know how they get out of it.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Yeah, this is not I mean, I think that it
is Zach Taylor's job on the line.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
You know, the Zach Taylor did a four year turnaround
of the Bengals.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
They started all two and fourteen his first year, and
they were four and eleven his second year, but then
they got to ten and seven and that was the
year they lost to the Super Bowl to the Rams,
which because they didn't have an offensive line. And then
they come back there even better the next year at
twelve and four, but they lost the Chiefs in the
AFC Championship Game, and then they've been a nine to
eight football team ever since then.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
It's been a decline since as Super Bowl, you know.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Nine and eight, nine and eight, and then this year
they started off two and three, and I don't think
it's going to get better. I think you need to
hire somebody who can coach defense, because obviously you've got
all that money on the offensive side of the ball.
You need to hire somebody that can coach and scout defense,
and there is a former defensive coach who has been
with the Bengals before who would be looking for a
head coaching job in Vance Joseph, they might might be
(10:43):
available at the other year. I just pointed it out there.
You don't, I can send it right back.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
And honestly, this cycle lines up well for Vance Joseph
because of course there's the Bengals connections.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
He also has connections with the.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Miami Dolphins, which seems like one of the more likely
job was going.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
To go to Jesse Minter. I really did, But at
least you're in the running. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Again, some of these things get done well ahead of time,
but who knows. At least I think you have a
shot at that one, and you have a pre existing
relationship with ownership.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Yeah, I just I you know, this is just one of.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
The wildest moves I think that you could possibly make
that You know, you needed to do something, and you
did the weirdest thing you could do. You did something,
but the weirdest thing that you could do. Do you
think that Bengals job would even be appealing? I know,
we don't know all the jobs that are going to
come open.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
But do you think it'd be closer to the top
of the list or the bottom of the list, Because
on one hand, you have Joe Burrow, I think any that, Yeah,
but you have a really problematic ownership situation that that's
probably going to hamstring you along the way.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Yeah, I think.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
I mean, I think if you're a guy like Vance Joseph,
I think that job's appealing. You look at that, you
look at that that situation that set up that scenario,
and you got a blank slate to be able to
go ineat and get the personnel that you want on defense,
the opportunity to go out and basically build it the
way you want it. You know, the offense already has
a quarterback and a receiver. The only thing you really
(12:08):
need to do on that offensive on that offensive side
of the ball is go get an offensive line. And
so as I look at the Bengals roster, I think
it's pretty appealing, especially to a defensive coach. I think
I think it would be less appealing to an offensive coach.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Than a defensive coach because you really don't have.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
A blank slate there.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Like the offense is pretty dialed in as to what
it is like, if it's me, I probably come in
and when we're able to get rid of te Higgins,
we do that, we up the offensive line, you know.
But beyond that, I mean, the offense is pretty set.
Like for me, if I'm coming in, I'm looking at
that job. I'm probably a defensive guy saying, all right,
they got nobody on defense. I get to build this
thing out the way I want. No, by the way,
I got a quarterback already, so you know, I can
(12:53):
just kind of set it and forget it. Yeah, I'm
pretty good. I just need to bring my offensive coordinator
telling me, you know, come out here. I need you know,
I need to one four plus points a game. You've
got the quarterback and the receiver to be able to
do it, make it happen. I'm gonna get you some
offensive line help while I draft to develop this defense.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
As vance Joseph becomes a hotter.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
You know, potential coaching candidate name, Do you have any
ideas what his staff would look like, mainly on the
offensive side of the ball, considering we.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Know the defensive guys would be. I mean, you're gonna
bring Joe Wood.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
You put the band back together and be those guys,
it'll be.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Guys off that I would suggest that he would try
to get Wes Phillips away from Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
So not the Webrew. You think it would be off
the Bronco and someone not on the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
I think it would be Wes Phillips. I think that
that Vance would try to hire him. He'll have options
at the end of this year. Wes needs if he
wants to be a head coach, he needs to get
out from under Kevin O'Connell and be more than a
title o CI, you know.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
And so I think getting Wes and putting him with Joper.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
I think Wes was like a springboard for me to
get a head coaching job because I'll jump into to
a unit that's already got the quarterback and receiver, and
Vance is going to build out the defense. We're gonna
win games, We're gonna score points. I'mna look like a genius. So,
you know, I I would suggest that that's what the
route I think they would go. There's a connection there. Obviously,
(14:10):
Wes's father, Wade his fans as mentor, you know, and
that's who gave That's who gave Vance his first his
first job. So you know, I would suggest there's a
connection there, and I think west Phillips would probably be
the guy.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Wow, I didn't know I had heard Wes phillips name
coming up through the ranks. I did not know he
was the son of the son of.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Yeah he's no, he's the son of Wade. He's the
point I yes, okay, sorry, I had to do the math.
I was told her would be no math. Got in
late last night from the concert, so I.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Was told here to be no math.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
So yeah, I was.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
For those of you wondering where I was last night,
I was out of Red Rocks.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
I went to watch Saint Motel and Young the Giants
and uh, two very different vans.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
I was there to see Young the Giant, but same hotel.
Was fun. It was a lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
So Red Rock shows are always the best.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
I mean that venue just elevates any night, like and
then the views are great, the atmosphere is great.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
It's just such a great concert venu.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
The only the only downside of it was some lady
behind me was talking like the whole time and like trauma,
dumping right in my ear. I guess she just divorced
her husband into like her lady friends and take her
out for the first time and forever, and so like
I'm just hearing everything despicable that's going on in her life.
Speaker 4 (15:19):
Behind it because she was loud and drunk.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
And so I'm just like, do I call this because
they got that you know, the number up there, like
if they're smoking the stands called the snumber And I'm like,
do I call this niche line and pretend this lady's
like smoking in the stands that will come out here
and move her, because like it's it's just it's distracting
that she's talking this loud over the concert.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
I definitely had I thought about it. I thought about it.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Yeah, it's hard not to, you know, sometimes they could
be wildly annoying. But yeah, I turned around again in
the glare several times to no effect.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
So many of.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Those people are wildly oblivious because that's why they're making
so much noise in the first.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Plok, right, I was gonna like just step up there
and be like, oh, that's so funny.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Yeah, and the rest of us can all hear you
down front, so why don't you just stand.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
On you know, I was going to do one of those,
but that I was like, I'm not gonna beet jerk tonight.
I'm just gonna like let it go.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
She's obviously dealing with life, so well, what is the
etiquette there? Like, what is the concert etiquettef somebody's ruining
the concert?
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Okay, So I just went to a concert the other
night last week, I should say.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
We had people.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Trying to reserve seats in GA. It was a GA concert. Kid,
you can reserve one other seat.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
It's one additional seat per person you can reserve, Like
if you have someone coming to meet you, you a reserve
a seat for them.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yeah, yeah, you know it's it's ALLF standing room only.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
And I had all these people going, got this eighteen
row seat being blocked off here.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Yeah, We're like walking through the crowd, and someone stopped
us and went, my husband and my friend are coming
back with drinks, so they're actually standing here, and it's like, well,
they're not standing here.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Yeah, yeah, fair, they're not standing here right now. So
you got to figure that out.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
It's GA. Yeah, I wouldn't know.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
I don't go to the poor section of concerts.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
So that sounds not gonna like you for that one
five six six nights zero is the text slide three
h three says would take Vance's job if he leaves.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
Jim Leonard would be the leader in the clubhouse for
that job.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
I think, honestly ideal situation for everybody. If Fans leaves
as a head coach this year, you get the two
third round picks, and Jim Leonard is not going to
hang around in this, you know, for a frsiary role forever.
He's going to want a coordinator job and probably in
the not too distant future, a head coaching job of
his own. I think the perfect scenario for the broadcast
(17:26):
this offseason. As VJ gets hired away, you get the
two thirds and then Jim Leonard keeps the defense intact.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
Yeah, and that's that would be. There would be continuity
obviously and all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
So that I think would be the ideal scenario. We'll see.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
And again we're we're getting a little ahead of ourselves
with some of this, but that's that's how it is.
We got Paul Chacharian coming up next year talk a
little fantasy football.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
We'll be right back Froncos Country to Night to show
you that a little bit later. I think you have
an incredible voice.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Yeah, that's uh, it's it's one of those one of
those things you listen to you're like, wait, how did
somebody come up with this idea?
Speaker 4 (18:04):
But it's you know, it's always uh, it's always funny.
You're always interesting to see those creative minds of work.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
It's going to the k Cowsdrill hotline though, and bring
on our guy, Paul Charchian. Paul Charchian obviously where with
kay Fan in Minnesota does the Guillotine Leagues and Fantasy
Life with Matthew Barry.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Paul, are you doing this week?
Speaker 5 (18:20):
Nice to talk to you again. I think last week
kind of went according to plan right. This was a
from a Broncos standpoint, that was the that was the
kind of game that you that you wanted to.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
See In a lot of ways, it really was.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
And by the way, I have to congratulate you for
giving us one of the drops of the week last
week with that that hemorrhoids drop or whatever it was.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
But we still got to grant has it somewhere I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
It was phenomenal and we played that like fifteen times,
so I do.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
Have to congratulate there.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
You've got you've got a standard set now that you've
got to live up to this week.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
As far as that goes, I.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Will do my best.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
All right, Well, we eagerly await, we eagerly await all that.
Uh as we as we look at this week, you
know there's a couple of.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Things I think.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
But you know, for those of us who were Brock
Bauers drafters, we've been scrambling last couple of weeks trying
to figure things out.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Now, last week I got lucky. I went the THEO.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Johnson route and got lucky.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
These is there is there anything else out there? Because
I don't think Brock's going to be a go this
week as well?
Speaker 4 (19:16):
Is there anything else out there? I should be looking
at the tight end front.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Well, there's not a.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
Lot of help out there, but if you're in a pinch,
you could look at Mike Kitzki. This Bengals tight end.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Right, So we're going waiver wire here.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
So you're asking me for something that's not that's available
in my ninety nine percent leaves the Bengals tight end.
Joe Flacco, if we go back two years when he
came off the bench and joined the Browns, all he
did was put David and Joku at targets. Then this
past year when he with the Browns, first thing that
he did it was Harold Fannon and David and Joko.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
Getting all these targets. And here's Flacco throwing.
Speaker 5 (19:56):
At five yards a toss. He's got the shortest ab
and throw. So now we watch into Cincinnati. Let's I
think he falls back to what he normally does, which
is throw to his tight end. Green Bay's actually allowed
the third most fantasy points to tight ends. This is
the only thing on defense that Green Bay is not
doing at an elite level is they're giving up tight
(20:18):
end receptions. And so you know, again, Benjamin, if you
know you're asking me for somebody you can get off
of the off the scrap heap, this is your opportunity
right here. Jake Ferguson seven catches in a touchdown last
week against Green Bay or two weeks ago of a
pre buy. So there's your angle right there.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Okay, I will look into that and see if he
is available in my leagues.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
I know there's a couple of the names out there.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
What do you think of Kate Aughton and then Barner
from Seattle suddenly show it out.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
Yeah, Barnard's catching all these touchdowns in Seattle.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
The problem is.
Speaker 5 (20:51):
He's also sharing playing time with Arroyo, Elijah Arroyo, and
they're almost dead even, and they're both they're both touchdowns,
but it's all a low volume and and they're basically
cannibalizing each other. So I would prefer not to have to.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Go that way.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
I think again here, I would.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
Just take the Cincinnati tight end Mike Kiseki and know
I've got to go to target. So that's that's why
I think I would do it. But again, guys, we're
talking guys that are available in ninety five percent of
leagues or ninety nine percent of league. So we'll keep
our expectations in check here.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Fair enough, all charging for the fantasy life.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
Okay, as we're looking around on the people have some
bye weeks to consider, there's there's there's different juggling you
got to do in this middle part of the season.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
Who are some guys out there that you think.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Are poised for a mid season breakout?
Speaker 5 (21:41):
Mid season breakout is there's we're looking for players that
have been underutilized to this point, younger players that have
a chance to emerge. One of them that I love
this week is on your team. I think Troy Franklin's
gonna have a fantastic game because Sauce Gardner is going
to have his hands fill with Courtland Sutton, and as
you've probably already broken down to some degree, the Jets
(22:04):
don't have a second, a true second cornerback.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
Now you'll remember.
Speaker 5 (22:08):
Last year they had the best one.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Two tandem at cornerback.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
They had Sauce Gardner and they had DJ Reid and
Reed was great, but he left in free agency, so
they backfilled with Michael Carter. Michael Carter's out, Isaiah Oliver
is going to be your probable starting cornerback, number two cornerback,
and that to me tells me and number two receivers
are doing really well against the Jets already. So I
(22:33):
really like Troy Franklin is somebody that's sitting on a
good game here and potentially a much better second half
of the season. I'll give you some names just so
you don't think that.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
I'm only playing to your team and your listeners.
Speaker 5 (22:44):
I'm a big fan of what they're what they're starting
to do in New Orleans is put together a competent team.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
It's it's happened slowly.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
Spencer rather Benjamin play a little bit who now right,
he can play a little bit. Rashidza Keids starting to
find some life last week, and I think there's some
legitimacy to that. And Rashiki he's always been a good
downfield like you know, every now and again kind of player.
But I like his opportunity this week against New England.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
But the biggest.
Speaker 5 (23:11):
Breakout player and it happened last week.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
It's in Washington.
Speaker 5 (23:16):
We were waiting for some clarity on that running back
situation and watching it. They have three different guys. We
wanted one of them to emerge, and last week it
happened to Corey Krossky merrit with the big game and
he finally outpaces everybody in everything a ton of momentum,
and here comes the Bears. Last year's worst fantasy defense
for opposing running backs. This year, they're giving up the
(23:38):
fourth most fantasy points to Corey krossky Merit. This the
breakout probably just happened last week, but still undervalued, and
the guy that's looking at it potentially really nice second
half of the season.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
Yeah, it's it's funny. I was talking to somebody about it.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Today and they were like, yeah, he had he had
the breakout last week and up against the Bears. So
I'm gonna put all my money in this to watch
Chris Rodriguez run away with it and just destroy my
you know, destroy my week over there talking of Paul
Charchi at Paul Charchid on Twitter. As we as we
look at some of the other receivers out there that
may be available, I have been particularly snake bit uh
(24:14):
with both with with Ceedee Lamb, Mike Evans both both
being down, and then Elik Neighbors out for the year.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
So I my my first couple.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Of picks are all gone and I have just scrambling
try to find receivers.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
Any matchups you like this week?
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Well, yeah, this are we talking.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Waiver wire level guys here, Benjamin, I.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Mean at this point, I mean, let's be honest here.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
Yeah, that's my That's what I'm doing is dredging the
waiver wire.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
So yeah, all right, I'm gonna give you a couple
of guys. Check to see if people have dropten given
up on Darnell Mooney from Atlanta because he was hurt.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Basically the whole month of the season. They going on Bye.
I found him on the on the waiver wire in
a couple of my leagues.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
This is Atlanta's number two receiver, probably trailing Buffalo and
we'll have to pass throughunt Bubbo. It has been a
middle of the pack pass defense, not elite. You know,
we just saw New England and have a lot of
success throwing on them. Darnold Mooney somebody that could be available.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
You mentioned you've.
Speaker 5 (25:05):
Got Ceedee Lamb and you're waiting for him to come back.
Ryan Floornoy was the guy filled in and start running
the slot routes both Faith Carolina. The slot is where
you attack Carolina. That's an opportunity potentially for him. And
in speaking of Carolina, as they're taking Dallas, that's your
worst defense in the league. You could go Hunter Renfro
(25:27):
if you wanted to. Jalen Tolbert looks like he's going
to come back and might be available in your league.
He has missed the whole first part of the season
on IR so anybody against Dallas it's potential green light.
So there's three guys that potentially.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Could pick up and help you out for this week.
All right, I definitely John.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
It goes down Paul, last question here for you, and
we appreciate you taking the time as always any other
sleepers out there you're seeing for this week, for anybody
else out there that nobody's mentioned.
Speaker 5 (25:56):
So far, we shot on so many good guys that
I that I already like, let me see here, can
I can I pivot the conversation just slightly shure you
back to your game if that's okay, yep, Let's sack
Justin Fields. Justin Fields has been He's played three full games, Benjamin.
In those three full games, he's finished his fantasy quarterback two,
(26:18):
quarterback four, and quarterback seven. That is the weak stuff,
that's like Josh Allen level territory. But your team has
allowed and it's you know, largely on the ground because
Field is not as your listeners now, Field is not
a great passer.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
You know, he can get a little something.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
Done, but not a lot.
Speaker 5 (26:35):
It's it's all his rushing work. Did you know your
team has allowed fifteen quarterback rushing yards all year? Fifteen?
Speaker 4 (26:44):
That's it.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
And you face Daniel Jones and Jalen Hurts, two of
the most mobile quarterbacks in the league.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Daniel Jones in two yards, Hurts in three yards.
Speaker 5 (26:52):
What if Fields can't get it done with his legs
and now you need fantasy.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
Points with his arm.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
And here comes the league's best pass rushing team, leading
the NFL on pressure, sacks and tack percentage, and the
Jets rank twenty.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
Third in PFF pass blocking.
Speaker 5 (27:06):
This could be the implosion game where it all goes
wrong for Justin Fields, can't pass, can't run, and the
winless Jets. Maybe even they bring in Tyrod Taylor, who
frankly looked at least it looked pretty darn good when
they've used him before in the past.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
This year, there's an ongoing bet between myself and my producer,
Zack Segers, about which quarterback was where be worse this year,
Russell Wilson or Justin Fields. And I understand Justin Fields
is a fantasy football darling, but he sucks out loud
in real football. And you know sev seventy five percent
of his touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
To come in garbage time.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
I wouldn't be surprised to see him sneak at garbage
time winning if he doesn't get replaced by Torod Taylor, who,
either way I thought looked better when he was out there.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
I don't know if the Jets are going to make
the switch or not.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
But we'll see, Paul. We appreciate it. As always, time
always goes too fast. Look forward talking to you next week.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
We'll tart to you then.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Absolutely to take.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
Care Paul Targi for the fantasy life.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
From then, I thought he's trying to set up Justin
Fields and then he went and wind mill dunk to
the other direction like that he could get.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
Pulled, and it's going to be to Ron Taylor. Yeah,
one of.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Us was smugly smiling at the start of his speech,
and then the other on it reversed.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Yes, one of us was smugly smiling by the end
of it.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
Like for a guy like you who loves Justin Fields
unconditionally and has closters of them up in your room,
how do you how do you do like a game
like like Sundays are you? Are you rooting against the
Broncos only to the point where Justin does so much?
Speaker 4 (28:36):
Or no?
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Really, I feel very confident with the lead I've built up.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
I definitely don't want the Broncos losing this game, and
at that point that's there. At this point, that's the
only thing Fields could really do to help me out.
All I want is him to not look so bad
that he gets patched. I guess it charts In alluded
to that possibility, and I don't disagree with you that
I think Rod Taylor's maybe looked a little better in
(29:02):
this offense when he's gotten the chance to run it.
I just man, because I am invested in Justin field
season this season, I really do not want to see
that happen.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
I suspect that unless he is left the end and
get some garbage time fourth quarter stuff, that it's going
to be pretty much a null stat line for Justin
Fields in this game.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
I fully agree, because he's not going to beat the
Broncos through the air consistently. I'm not saying he won't
complete a pass, but he's not going to be able
to string together the drives necessary to beat this team
through the air. I was worried about what he could
bring as a rusher, but that's that about the Broncos
on the season. They've only allowed fifteen quarterback rushing yards,
(29:47):
and cam Ward's a rushing threat. Daniel Jones, Justin Herbert,
everyone but Jake Browning that they've faced is a rushing
threat at the quarterback position. That single stat I think
it gives me more confidence in this game than any
I've heard this week, and there are plenty that make
the Broncos look good and the Jets look bad.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Yeah, thirty was it?
Speaker 1 (30:05):
Thirty nine percent of fields yardage and seventy five percent
of his scoring has come with the game out of
reach in the fourth quarter, like like true garbage time.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
More than two scores eight minutes left in the game.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Ninety nine percent win probability type stuff, like like three
quarters of his productivity has come at that point.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
Now, for the purposes of your bet, like you'll take it,
I'll tell you the reality.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
I guess he's been terrible, Like I mean, like I
thought he was bad. He has somehow exceeded my own
expectations for suckitude.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
It's it's been really rough for him.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
And I think, you know, I might end up winning
our bets, but in spirit, we're both.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Losers on I'm just for both.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Both quarterbacks had pretty visible campaigns. I yeah, I just
I don't know what fields can do to succeed in
this game. I just I don't see. I mean, you've
got Garrett Wilson, but then this Jets receiving is one
of the weakest in the league going against this secondary.
Speaker 1 (31:03):
One thing is the Mason Taylor component of because Taylor's
kind of a dog. That might be the one area
that you have to watch, But you know, is Taylor
going to go for two hundred yards on you?
Speaker 4 (31:13):
Like?
Speaker 2 (31:13):
I think even there, it's going to be hard for
them to make enough out of that that they can
potentially pull the upset here.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Yeah, the only quarterback, according to patt Antlytics, the only
quarterback more responsible for all the sacks that their team
takes than Justin Fields is Joe Flacco.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
The perfect how it comes full circle there.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
I think this is a feast game for the Broncos
off or defensive line. Excuse me, to your point, the
Jets offensive line has struggled quite a bit this year.
I think Membu is going to be a good challenge
on the edge, but you can get interior pressure on
this team very easily. I think it's going to be
on the edges to contain, and the Broncos edges are
very athletic. I think they'll be able to do a
(31:54):
better job of hamming Justin Fields in than most And
I just appeals the forever and he struggles to see
things downfield. I think you're going to see what They
had six sacks last week against the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
I think they could easily do that again. Can we
do ten? Can I get a ten?
Speaker 4 (32:09):
It's possible.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
This could be if you're ever going to see that
record reset in the modern era.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
I mean, that would be the game. Gotta love it.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
I want to get into the Ben Power stuff. Who's
replacing him.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
We've got the info at all of that when we
come back here on Roncos Country tonight.
