Speaker 1 (00:00):
Don zero is the text line.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
The guy who had the fantasy team said he was
projected tenth place by ESPN.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
That's see, that's the thing. It's like when you get
whatever the projection thing is, you get the opposite.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Like like, for instance, I was projected that I was
going to finish number one in Yahoo and I knew, right,
I tweeted out to Kiss of Death, I'm gonna lose,
and sure enough I'm in last place.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Yeah, it's it's always the in verse.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
If you're projected to go last year, you've got a
good chance to be in the championship running and if.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
You yeah, vice versa. I don't know what it is
about their little projector things, but they are the opposite
of whatever's going to happen.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Let's go to Kapa Cobbs Birth Hotline and bring on
our guy. Joey Richards podcast partner of Zac Sue years
in the past, the Let's Talk Broncos podcast. You can
find an meltb underscore Joey.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Joey, how's it been, man, Everything's going well. I'm excited
to be on I'm excited to be on Broncos Country tonight,
especially in this time the Bruggers just got one of
their biggest wins I've seen in forever. So it's exciting
time to get a Broncos fan.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yeah, this is this the signature win of the Sean Payden.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Arrow to day, I would say, so, I mean, this
is huge going in the Philadelphia against team that hasn't
lost in forever if you look at when they've lost
it at home even further back, and then this has
to be the signature way I thought.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
So it certainly paves the way, a confidence builder that
paves the way for the Broncos. Broncos now sitting at
three and two, you figure you can probably get to
five and two, even with the Giants sort of being
that trap game before you get some serious competition again
and uh in in Dallas.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
As as we look at this.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Team so far this year, I mean, this is a
team that could just as easily be five in all.
They're also a team that could have coughed up a
couple of those games and uh and be looking at
an entirely different record the margins within in the NFL,
But this looks like a team that's it's tracking the
right way.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
The problem for this team or what could be.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
The problem is that the meat of the schedule is
the back third of the year, where you get you know,
Kansas City twice, you got the Chargers, the Packers, I
suddenly hot Jacksonville team.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
There's there's outside of the Raiders, there's.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
There's just not a lot of you know, gimme games
on the back third of this schedule. This year's the
time for the Broncos to start racking up these wins,
right I.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Think so, And honestly it's toets up well for them
that the schedule is that way. Champagne teams historically have
been team that starts following as stronger as the season's
gone on. You even though it last year with the
Broncos solo, it's a lot stronger this year.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
The same thing.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
I like the way the schedules shut up with easier
opponents right now.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Although he's really.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Good in the month of October, but I expect this
team to be even better towards the end of the schedule.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
We've got the New York Jets in the London early game.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I'll be uh, We'll be on the air at four
thirty in the morning here on KOA.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
You can I'm trying to contain my excitement now and
then of course the jail party at the burn down
at seven, so y'all come out and join us there.
As we look at this though, why is Justin Field's
the worst quarterback ever? And if you could speak direct,
leta Zac seekers while you're saying that, well, listen, you're.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Gonna have to talk to Zach and because I was.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
It was one of those that was definitely one of
those guys. But I think it really has to do
with the processing. And then he takes a long time
to read the field and he takes a lot of
sacks because of it. I love the guy's toughness, but
if you are taking forever to go to one to two,
you're gonna struggle in MENIFL And that's what Justin Fields.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Talking with Joey Richards at LTB underscore Joey on Twitter
one of the more interesting stack statistics I think this year.
That's it's interesting for me EPA per play with and
without pressure. Bo is actually better under pressure on EPA
per play than he is without pressure.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Now, he hasn't gotten a lot of pressure because the
Broncos offensive line is kept and clean. He's got rid
of it pretty quick.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
But in situations where he gets pressure, he breaks contained.
He gets out there and threatens with his legs or
threatens with his arms. He's he's actually very good.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Do we want to see Bo try to create more
in the chaos?
Speaker 4 (04:03):
No? Honestly, Ben, I think he's creating too much. I
think it makes perfect sense why he The SATs would
indicate that when he's throwing on the move, he's pretty awesome.
The issue is that even when it's a clean pocket,
the guy wants to throw on the move. Everything's a
trick shot, and he's really really good at it. Bo's
an awesome quarterback. When he's running around, He's making something happen.
(04:24):
But man, you would love for him to put that
backfoot down and just deliver a ball. That's where he
struggles too many times. Is he running right up the
middle of the pocket. He's running a forty yard dash
up the pocket and trying to throw a trick shot.
He just needs to calm down a little bit and
throw those. I think it's more to do with Bo
Nicks than Hey, the Bronctos should change this so he
(04:46):
can throw on the run more. I think he's doing
it a little too much.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Honestly, one of my common complaints with Sean bagen his
play calling has been getting away from the run. Although
we saw against the Eagles in the second half, even
down he was willing to stick with the run and
ride it out and it brought the Broncos a victory.
Can we expect more of that from Sean Bayton, to
stick with the run and help set up some of
(05:11):
these pass plays rather than just trying to pass to
set up the pass.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
I think so. I think when I mean when we
signed JK Dobbins, I don't know if anybody expected the
guy to be what he is now. Everyone thought it
would be a good signing. I was looking at it
as hey, the Broncos signed, you know, a floor raiser.
He is not just a floor raiser, He's a ceiling raizer.
I don't know if Sean Bayton expected this, but since
he has had that amount of success, why not give
(05:37):
the running back more touches. He's one of the best
in the league right now. When you're looking at the stats.
JK Dobbins is an awesome I totally expect him to
get the rock more fingers crossed on him being healthy.
That's the one thing.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
The Broncos are such heavy favorites in this game. Joey,
it's you know, gotten some trap game talk. What do
you think the path to victory looks like for the
Jets or can you not even imagine one?
Speaker 4 (06:05):
I think it's just containding Justin fields. You don't want
to beat him with his containing doesn't fields, and that
you don't want him to run the football. Make him
sit back there and throw it. You saw it a
lot in this Eagle game, especially early. They progress defense
struggled earlier, but they did a good job at containing
Jalen Hurts in the pocket. I expect something similar. Make
him throw the ball down field. You don't want him
(06:28):
to beat you with his legs. That's where he is
extremely dangerous. One of the best running quarterbacks in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, it's sort of the anti Tyton Manning thing, right.
You see Justin Field's out there.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
You're like, any way we can get him to throw
the football, we will.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
Take shot the deck.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
I like it, Yeah, you know, I just it's it's
it's been a whole week. It's like it's like Hankkah
in October.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
For me.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Uh, the fact that we're playing Justin Fields this week
because as long as he's in the game, the Denver
Broncos definitely are not going to lose. I'm more scared
of to Rod Taylor coming in and starting to throw
the football. And Brian Dable is my grinch, honestly, because
I'm getting robbed of my Christmas next week with Russell
Wilson riding the pind Yeah, as saying we're going to
wind up, and you know that's the thing we bet
on which quarterback was going to have more wins. Justin
(07:14):
Fields is still playing and still not accumulating wins.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
It's been terrible. It's a terrible Joey. I know.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Then, speaking of teams not getting wins in these Jets
and Giants struggling maybe looking for a new head coach.
I know you're a big proponent of VJ getting another
opportunity at head coach.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Do you think this will finally be the year for him?
Speaker 3 (07:36):
I do.
Speaker 4 (07:37):
I think he should at least I know he's following
Ben in the past. He's been big on Hey, these
are retread guys. Just because they've been fired in the past,
that doesn't mean that they're a bad head coach. That
means that they can learn from those experiences, and I
think Van Schozen is a perfect example of that. He's
got plenty of times to think back on what would
he do different? And I don't know if people remember,
(07:58):
but it wasn't. It was kind of shocking when he
took this job in Denver. It was a it was
a policy move for the guy to take this job
with no connection back from Sean Payton. And that's big
when you were able to take a job multiple different
coaching staffs. When you go look at his track record,
Cliff sings very Sean Payton, all these different things. This
(08:19):
bodes well to build a staff on another team. I
thought that was something that Daniel Hackett struggled with greatly
in Denver, building a staff to surround his pieces around
him so he could succeed. I think Van Chose's gonna
be really good at that and he deserves another shot
real quick.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Some breaking news, The Cleveland Browns are making yet another
trade today. They have just received Tyson Campbell from the
Jaguars and traded Greg Newsom to Jacksonville, so a corner
swap between the Jags and the brown I had no
Tyson Campbell's available that would have Uh, that would have
been something. I mean either bron because I play corners,
but I still raise an eyebrow. I don't really understand
(08:58):
that move, but there you go. A little break news.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Per Ian Rappaport, the broadco is having to replace Ben Powers.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Matt Peart's going to be the first guy up there.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
What do we think of Matt Peart and do you
think he can hang on to the job.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
He's a bowling man.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Matt Peart is a guy that I think he's going
to be good in the run game. I'm really tall
to be a guard, but Seam Payton hasn't shied away
from that in the past and forgetting his name up
the top of my head, but had another tackle converted
guard in New Orleans. I'm really tall. He didn't. He
didn't care at all. This is something Champaign's done in
the past. I think losing Ben Powers is a significant
(09:33):
loss of the team. I don't think Matt Part's going
to go in there and just replicate his play, but
I am hoping for good things and I think he
is plenty capable. You saw it when they did their
extra offensive lineman last year. Matt Part was that guy
and I can do.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Okay, Yeah, the stints, well, obviously Trevor Penning converted from
tackle to guard. I think you can go back to
Jerry Evans before that. That made that it was a
toll uh guard for them.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
But yeah, that's that's uh, that is uh. For me,
it's interesting that he's.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Getting the first crack headed and not say a guy
like Foresight or or you know, uh, one of.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Those kind of one of those kind of moves.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
I I for me, and what I understand is they
want to keep it internal. A lot of people keep
asking me the Bronco is gonna be buyers of the
deadline if they're competitive.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
I think they're gonna be competitive. I don't think they're
gonna be buyers at the trade deadline, though. I just go,
I think they're comfortable with what they've got and what
they're getting back off. I are in Roach, who probably
probably even though is activated, probably not this week, and
probably next week, and then green Law shortly thereafter.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
For me, I don't think this team is going to
be buyers.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
Yeah you don't, you don't, okay. I do think that
this team has the opportunity to be fires.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
It's one of the first time in.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
A while they've been good. I think in the love
last year I didn't think so, But this year they
have a really good shot in my opinion.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Yeah, I mean there's there's that coveyat comes with some
things like if Parton doesn't work out and all that,
then you know you could see them, like I said
Trevor Penning, the Ravens of make Tyler Linden Bob available.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
I mean, if you that, you go out and get
him and.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Move Wattenberg over or figure it out, you know, in
that kind of situation.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
But there are there are certainly some some options out there.
I just don't know where they would be buyers, Like
what position would the Denver Broncos be buyers at.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
It is one of those things that it is difficult
to figure out. I mean, hey, if if you can
see something that puts you over the top. Though, and
Sean Payton is actually speaking the truth, he thinks this
team is a Super Bowl con vendor.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
Why not.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
We've seen breakfast teams in the past do it.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Some haven't worked out.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
Vernon Davis, who remembers that brought legend there have been
times where if you think a piece can put you
over the top, you go out there and do it.
If he's true word.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Well, okay, so that's the thing. Like, I'm not opposed
to them doing it.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Just the conversations that I've had with people in that building,
I don't think that they think they need to.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
I'm not sure what person would have to be available
for them at what position for them to be able
to make a move like that, But I don't think
they feel like they need to.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Oh what about middle lineby you're interested?
Speaker 1 (12:00):
I mean it would interest me.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
But again, I think that Drake Greenlaw will be back
here in a couple of weeks, and so like for them,
I think they think getting Greenlaw back and moving Singleton
over to the sideline to sidelin a downhill.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Guy, and I think it's the direction that they want
to go. So I don't. I mean, again, I'm not
opposed to it.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
I personally am like, all right, if you've got a
missing piece, go get it, especially if you're a competitive window.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
But I don't think they think they need to.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
Yeah, I get that, if they don't think that totally
find us their opinion. In my opinion, I would be
all over a bit of linebacker if they have the opportunity.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Drake Greenlaw, you don't really know. He came back last
year and was fine, but another time on short term
I are can you really rely on him at this point?
That something the Broncos should ask themselves. And then even
past that, I think we all have seen you can't
rely on Alet Singleton. You can't rely on Justin Trenad
in this spot. Maybe putting him over at the other
(13:00):
middle linebacker spot does them better. But Drake Rila goes
down again, you're back to the thing spot. I think,
knowing everything the injuries, Alex Singleton coming off of injury
not necessarily looking the same, Justin Tchernad not a starting
caliber linebacker in my opinion, they should go look and
(13:20):
see what's available. I'm not saying they should pounce on
everything they see, but maybe maybe just slip around and
do what's out there.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Yeah, they do. They do inquire about everything else.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Why you see the Broncos so often attached to trades
that don't come to fruition as the reality is they're
you know, they call about everything, even if they're not
serious about making offer.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
They want to know the.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Price tag, which is something a smart GM does. Joey,
what's made your biggest surprise in the Broncos season so far?
Speaker 4 (13:43):
And my biggest surprise, I would just say, I mean
I mentioned it earlier. I think JK Dobbins. I expected
him to be a good running back, like I said,
a floor razor for this team, a guy that could
set in on third down. We've seen R. J. Harvey
struggle in path bro we thought this last. I think
I expected him to be that guy, kind of guy
(14:04):
that's going to run the ball out in the middle
that be okay, not great. He's been tremendous. He's been
an absolute ceiling razor for this team and a reason
why they're winning. I don't know whether this Broncos offense
would be without him right now, they'd be really, really,
really struggling.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Yeah, I tend to agree with that.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
JK was a guy I thought would play well, but
I didn't realize it was going to be this well.
And of course, then you know, you look down there
at Dallas and you see Javonte doing that well and
you're like, well, wait a minute, what are we doing here?
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (14:32):
But you know it's working out for everybody, and obviously
we wish to DeVante's success except.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
For the game when he when he plays against the Broncos.
Uh later this year.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Joey's always a treat and appreciate you and Uh, I
just want to say before we go, justin field sucks
and make sure that you let your your your podcast partner.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
Know that I will plenty of times every.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Every opportunity you get. YEP, I appreciate it. Yeah, Joey
Richards said LTB underscore. Joey always appreciate having them all.
We get the NFL six pack come up next. I've
had a couple of texts coming in here. Somebody is
total six? Is VJ is a better coach than Peyton?
If VJ weren't coaching the D, the Broncos wouldn't even
(15:11):
be competitive. Vj's propping up Sean and his impotent offense.
Give VJ another chance in Denver.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Yeah, that's a little rich for my blood. But you
know for Dison, are you texting OMPs kidding? Yeah, he's
done a good job with the defense. I yeah, I
mean the defense, he's carrying the team. But I wouldn't say.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
That that they wouldn't be competitive. Yeah, and the offense
we don't have Rex Ryan here like that would be awful.
But and the offense I think hasn't been what I
think a lot of Broncos country wants it to be yet,
But it also has been like at any of the
last three seasons would be the best Broncos offense of
(15:49):
the post to Manning era. If you isolated it now
still has to be better. But you've got a young,
developing quarterback. I think as bo Nix continues to grow
and develop, that's when you'll see this offense take the
LEAPA and then he wanted to take Yeah, I think,
you know, I think I think the defense he was
carrying offenses water. Don't get me wrong, But I don't
think that they would not be competitive.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
I just I don't know. Well, maybe they've I'm wrong
on that.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
I just don't see that anyway, without further to do,
it's time for the offel sick pack.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
What it's time for the NFL six pad.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
I'm gonna bring a lot during insight and inside information
you can't find anywhere else.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
I know the top six NFL headlines.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
What sounds like the NFL six voicter guy was trying
to jump the gun there, Yeah, jump with the gun
a little bit. I'm rusty, you know, Gen Grant's been
carrying for a while. Lamar Jackson has yet to practice
this week. As the Baltimore Ravens stare down the barrel
of a one in five start, the la Rams are
on the slate for the Ravens this week.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
Do you think Lamar Jackson will.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
Play for the Ravens if the end, If the Ravens
lose this game, do you think their sees and it
is over?
Speaker 1 (17:01):
In your eyes?
Speaker 3 (17:02):
I think their season might already be over. I don't
believe Lamar plays this week. I think the Ravens are
probably in for one of those disaster seasons that you know,
come along every once in a while, and it might
be time to maybe shake some things up.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
At that point, you're gonna probably have some good draft picks.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
You have the opportunity to maybe move on or move
your head coach into the front office and try, you know,
try to reset some things, do things a little bit differently.
I think that there would be quite a few people
that would be lined up to coach the Baltimore Ravens
at that point.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
With Lamar Jackson there at quarterback and some of.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
The pieces that they have, So that's something to keep
your eye on as far as things go. Would that
be the most coveted head coach opening we've seen in
several years?
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Procuse that comes to frusion. Absolutely, it would absolutely be
that job.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Everybody be lined up for that job, and then you
know the other jobs would fall in behind that. Yeah,
quality ownership, you have a lot of stability, a good
front office, talented roster, and you've got the quarterback at
checks every box I feel you want. Yeah, if you're
able to, yeah, getting it, even getting an interview for
that job would be good. The problem, I guess is
it has the Steinbrenner doctrine of like, you take that job,
(18:12):
you better be leading us to championships because.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
You'll get one year of grace, and that one year
of grace, you still better be above five hundred.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Above five hundred.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
But I mean, they're tired of great regular seasons and
falling short and the championship came. You know, they they
want a trip to the super Bowl and the Super
Bowl Ring.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
It's the Larry Coker effect.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
Right, Like you know you came in at Miami was
so good at that point through Butch Davis and then
Larry Coker takes over.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
You lose two games in a year, that's what's.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Won too many, you know, Larry Coker's getting them to
the you know, the championship game back in college football
or right, you know, have two lost seasons and that
was and then you see the grass as and always
greener when you go hire a new coaches, the same
thing with like the what I call the George Carl effects. Right,
George Carl was the mony Marty Schottenheimer of the NBA.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
George Carl, You were gonna win in the regular season.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
You were making the playoffs, probably going far in the playoffs,
but you were making the playoffs and that went good
enough anymore. And then you hire they hire Brian Brian Shaw.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
An open mutiny, right, yeah, yeah, we got to get
somebody else in here. Let's uh, you know, make it
the playoffs. Isn't good enough anymore? Okay, I ain't.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Always green it though, you mean Bill Belichick and Gerd
Mayo increasingly comes to mind too. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Berry
also hasn't practiced so far this week.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Along with Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
He's currently battling a foot injury with the Cardinals. Reeling
following three straight losses and especially embarrassing loss.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
To the Titans.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Do you think their season will go down the tubes
with the loss to the Colts this week?
Speaker 1 (19:37):
I don't, you know, I think that they have an
opportunity to win that game. We'll see. You know, they've
done something no NFL team.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Has ever done, lost three straight games in the last
second field goals.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
I mean, the Denver knows the heartache. We saw what
happened with the coltson Chargers.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
So the Cardinals are going through the same thing, except
some of their issues are self inflicted.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
The Marcado dropping the football before across the goal line.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
You know, I I don't think so. I think the
vibes are all right in that locker room. I talked
to that coaching.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
Staff since you know, everything went down. It's kind of
dog and pony show with that stupid fine and all
that stuff. I think they're fine. I think they'll be fine,
but we'll see. I've been wrong before. It could be
wrong again, and they, you know, benefiting them.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
They've got the bye week coming right here, which now
right at the right time. Yeah, you're going on the
road to Indy. I think that's gonna be a tough
one to turn things around. In the two and four
fourth rate losses, you imagine morale might be a little deflated.
But you got the bye week there to figure out
what went right the first two weeks and what hasn't
been going right since and try and right the ship. Yeah,
(20:41):
and I think that's going to be I think that's big.
They are a team that needs the bye week. Early three,
the Chicago Bears are returning to Washington, d C. To
play the Commanders for the first time since Tyreek Stevenson's
hail Mary gaff last year. Ben Johnson rush off that
incident this week during a press conference.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
Saying, this is a new Bears team. Now, do you
think the Bears.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
Will be haunted by their last performance in DC? And
do you think they'll be able to avenge that season
altering loss this time?
Speaker 2 (21:16):
It's a Monday night football game. You know the Comanters
are back to being healthy. I think the Commanders win
this game. I don't think it's gonna be down to
a hail Mary. I don't think the Bears will avenge it.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
So no, I don't.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
I mean, Ben Jonson is right, this is a totally
different team. Every year is a new chapter. There's not
a lot of continuity in the NFL. I mean, you know,
most teams turn over forty percent of the roster you're
over year.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Some turn out almost sixty percent of the roster. The
Bears certainly turned over a lot of their roster. So no,
not the same football team, you know. But I don't
think they get vengeance. I think I think Commanders beat them.
Tyreek Stevenson better be so locked in in this game.
He go get away five interceptions to make up for that. Like,
there's just no way you can't dig yourself out of that.
This is the more thing, right, There's nothing you could
(22:00):
do is ever gonna dig you out of that hole.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
No, it's all timer.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
It's gonna be like Leon Lett or a wrong way
Jim Marshall, like that one I think is going to
get brought up for years and years and years.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
It was all time, embarrassing.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
Laugh at you know, joshing with the crowd and watching
them thing go right behind you.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
It's just that it was all time and he.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Was the one who blew the coverage on that played
like every layer of it is so so bad for him,
Like you said, Hopefully they don't.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Need a Hail Mary this time to get the win. Yeah,
we'll see before.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Following Geno Smith's horrible start to the season, ESPN NFL
insider Dan Grasiano reported today that the Creators could turn
to Kenny Pickett if Gino's struggles continue.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Do you think we could see Geno benched before the
end of this year? Yes?
Speaker 3 (22:48):
If so, when do you think that could be? Is
there a week or a series of matchups recircling maybe?
And do you think Kenny Pickett could fix this Raiders
offense or would he just make a bad situation worse?
I don't think you can get much worse, you know,
being honest with you, I mean this is this is
he looks washed. Yeah, Gino looks like if the wheels
(23:10):
just came off that thing you've got. You got the
Tennessee Titans this weekend. You lose to the Titans, you're
making a switch, you know. I mean it's just that simple.
You know the games that come up after that, You
got the Chiefs, Jaguars, and broncos Is the next three
games after that, Like, that's a tough stretch. So I
would not be surprised at all if if Gino doesn't
(23:31):
get it together against the Titans, if they don't pull
the plug and me and put Kenny Pickett in there. Yeah,
congratulations on winning the starting job.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
You now get to face, Uh, this is Steve Spagnolo,
a pretty hot Jaguars defense, and a Broncos team that's
contending for the title of best defense in the league.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
I think you're right, you have to consider it.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
It's you know, obviously Geno Smith didn't have Baydon Maning's career,
but it's reminiscent of that to me, and it's it's
in a different way. It's not like his arms just
completely vaporize that he can't get any zip on the
ball anymore.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
But yeah, the earliest. The earliest would be this week.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
The latest would be the Broncos game, because that's a
Thursday night football game, and you got ten days after
that you turn.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Around and ramp it up for Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
So that's this this four game stretch right here is
the window for Gino turn it around or it's gonna
be Kenny Picketts show. I think it's smart to explore
that he is playing like the first quarterback in the
league or at least short list, like I think Fields,
to our earlier conversation, deserves to be in that list.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Gino certainly belongs there.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Those might be my leaders in the clubhouse right now
for who are the worst starting quarterbacks in the league?
Speaker 2 (24:35):
That, Oh yeah, it's absolutely brutally bad, you know, for
Gino right now, I would say that there's a few
quarterbacks maybe maybe playing a little worse than he has.
Bryce Young is not played well this season, but that's
a good clip to Gino. Smith has looked just brutally,
brutally bad.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
I don't I don't know what you do at this
point to the Raiders either there's not being Kenny Picketts
who you got to turn to, but is there anyone else?
I mean, I'm looking at this right now, and the
cam Wore, Jake Browning and Joe Flack are the only
three to play worse?
Speaker 1 (25:07):
My goodness, Gino leaves the league in the receptions. Yeah,
and it's rare air too.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
It's it was like nine through four games, or maybe
it was nine through five, But he's like one of
three quarterbacks to do that since two thousand and the
first since Zach Wilson. Like rookie year Zach Wilson did that,
that's not the company you want to be keeping.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Yeah, he's got a five point five interception percentage, just
like six percent of his.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Passes are being picked off right now. Just atrocious. Wicky
my chops five Clasiano and es. An ESPN insider.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Fellow ESPN insider, that is, Jeremy Fowler, also speculated that
Daniel Jones could be due for a contract extension in
Indianapolis if he can keep playing at this level. Do
you think Daniel Jones will be the Colts Week one
starter in twenty twenty six? And what do you think
Daniel jones next contract will look like wherever he winds
(26:04):
up playing, Yes, yes, and yes.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
And uh, it'll be the Colts and it'll look like
a fifty plus million dollars a year deal for Daniel Jelles.
Do you think he'll get fifty? Like he is playing
lights out football. He saved the general manager and the
head coaches, there's jobs. I mean, this is absolutely going
to be a huge payday for Daniel Jells. The fifty
is a going right now. I mean, that's that's the
(26:27):
new that's the new money market.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
Honestly, if he was top of the market might be sixty.
That's that's the new money market for quarterbacks. It's that's
just what it is. I mean, that's the cost you pay.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
So I mean, if you're the if you're the Colts
and you found something that works, are you giving up
on that? Do you think that ages like the Baker
Mayfield contract or like this Sam Darnold contract is starting
to look or do you think it goes the way
of the last Daniel Jones contract where you know, he
had this great season, he gets paid dig and it
suddenly creators.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
I think, as you look at it right now, I mean,
Dax deals sixty.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
So they've already broken the sixty threshold, right Josh Allen's
at fifty five, earls at fifty five, Trevor Lawrence is
at fifty five. You know Jordan loved who is at
fifty three, like Daniel Jones, is getting more than fifty
five per year.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
I guarantee you it's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
It's it won't It probably won't top Dax sixty, but
it'll be second like it'll be, it'll be the fifty
five money just because that's that's what you pay.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
You got to put him above the numbers that guys
like Tua and Trevor Lawrence are making.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Will it age well to giving Daniel Jones that amount
of money? Do you think that age as well? I mean,
if he continues to play like this, you have every
reason to believe it will do you. Hopefully you trade
Anthony Richardson recoups and draft picks and you know, recoups
and draft capital there and you're able to put use
that draft capital be cheap around him.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Man, what a turnaround that would be. Yeah. Six, last
one for you here.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Nick Benito is currently tied for third with Miles Garrett
in Defensive Player of the Year odds. They're both that
plus of five hundred. I'm sure it Mary's from sports Boots,
but from what I can find behind, they trail right
now Aiden Hutchinson at plus three twenty and Micah Parsons
at plus three sixty.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Among those four front.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Runners, where do you think Benito deserves to be ranked
as of right now?
Speaker 1 (28:17):
And which of those four bets?
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Again, Aiden Hutchinson plus three twenty, Micah Parsons plus three sixty,
and Garrett and Benito both at plus five hundred, Which
of those four do you think is the best value
right now. Well, you guys should have listened to me
before the season started when I said to put a
sprinkle a ticket on Nick Benito, because I got him
at plus eighteen hundred and so now it's you know,
now it's what.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Did you say this now now plus five fifty plus
five hundred.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Yeah, because I even sprinkled it last year when he was,
you know, having that little hot stretch.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
I was like, if you can continue this on out,
he might might be in the market.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Yeah, I think he should probably be at the top
of the list Leeds the NFL and sacks is up
there and pressures.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
He got paid and he got better.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
You know, when do you see that most guys get paid,
they get fat and happy and they take a little
step back.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
You know, as far as that goes. Benito got paid.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
And oh, by the way, all those those people who
tried to tell me the contracts, you know, with the incentives, like.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
He's going to hit the incentives. He is going to
hit the incentives.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
So you know, good for Nick beddo if you can
keep his pay up, stay healthy, and keep the pace up.
I mean, he's on pace to set the new record
for sacks in a season, and you've got a game
coming up here.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Against a bad offensive line. But the quarterback loves the
hold football. They give you an opportunity to put a
couple more pelts on the wall.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Yeah, if you want to bet on this one, definitely
do it before this justin Fields game, because that could
certainly fluff his stats some more.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
And I fully agree. I think plus five hundred on
Nick Benito is the best odds.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
It's not like the pressure sacks or the pressure stats
aren't matching where you think the outliers.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
He's not getting clean ups or anything else.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
And honestly, there's other guys that are getting clean up
stacks on his work exactly.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
There's no reason to think this is going to crater
all of a sudden.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Even if he doesn't set the record, I think it's
very likely a twenty sacks season or at least very
very close to that. And if you get eighteen plus sacks,
it is rare you don't win Defensive Player of the Year.
Micah Parsons is having, by his standards, a kind underwhelming
season so far in Green Bay. Miles Garrett's awesome, but
the Browns I don't think we'll be in the picture,
(30:14):
which I think will hurt him to some extent. I'm
really only worried about Agent Aiden Hutchinson at this point.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Yeah, I think so too. I think, you know, you
got to sprinkle it. Hopefully you sprinkle before the season start.
If you didn't, you're getting you know, one third odds
right now. But at least it's still something. So One
of the other things I find fascinating unrelated to that
is the the Steelers there's still plus money to win
their division.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
The Ravens are actually the minus money right now.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
I all hammered that Steelers line. I think it's like
plus one fifty or whatever. It's plus money to win
their division. That's that's free money.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
They're gonna win that division at this point.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
Less the wheels fall off because everybody else in the
division stinks at the Browns of Bengals and.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
The Ravens are have one win.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
I do worry about Aaron Rodgers element though, you know,
if ever the wheels were to come off, he might
be the guy to kick him off.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
That might be Let's see. That's uh yeah, fascinating stuff.
Ronco's Country tonight, rolling on here on KOA. We'll be
back after this, m
Speaker 4 (31:17):
