Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's going on Broncos Country.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
It is Broncos Country night right here on KOA eight
fifty A ninety four one FM, the official radio home
of your Denver Broncos. I am clearly not the voice
of one Benjamin Albright. Benjamin Albright out today. I am
a Rod. You normally hear me on the Mandy Connell
Show from noon to three right on these very airwaves,
(00:22):
jumping all over the place everywhere as well everything social
media you see on KAA. I likely have some kind
of hand in. Happy to have all you join us
tonight alongside mister former Denver Bronco mister do everything, mister
Denver Bronco media guy. Just a little bit of all
the happenings. One Nick Ferguson, Nick, what is going on?
My friend?
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Happy to be with you?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Well, happy to be with you a Rod. This is
the first time you and I would get a chance
to do this. We've done this off air, we have
several times, so we get a chance to do it
on air. But so many things to unpack. We were
having a very interesting conversation.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah, we were like twelve direct I think in like
forty seven seconds before they do the second I was told.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Today about this opportunity.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I was like, hell yeah, because I get to be
on Arehennick Ferguson doing exactly what we do every time
we see each other in person, And let me tell you, man, there.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Is a plethora of stuff to get to.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
We're obviously going to get to the fact that well,
the Broncos are going to very much likely. Obviously it's
not official yet. We'll continue to monitor today if they
I assume the news is going to come out tonight,
but obviously patzertan h Junior is not going to probably play,
you know, in this Thursday night or just the turnaround
with concussion protocol, with it being mandated by the NFL,
it's it's not looking likely. It's going to be darning
(01:41):
near and possible at this point. Uh, the NFL trade
deadline is not today, it felt like it might have
been today. Wide receivers are on the move like absolute
crazy today. DeVante Adams getting traded from the the Raiders
to the Jets despite the Jets losing on Monday Night
Football and dropping to two and four. I don't know
if they realize their record, what are you John's gonna say, Well, ell, yo,
(02:02):
we're moving forward, game over. Now we're looking ahead. You're
still two and four. You still are trying to make
the postseason here. Maybe Aaron Rodgers friend Devonte will help
with that. Amari Cooper also on the move another wide receiver.
He is heading to the Buffalo Bills. So wide receivers
moving in plenty. Will keep you update of Denver Broncos
getting the mix at all throughout the course of this show.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
But yeah, I just want to make sure, Nick, I
had to double check. I had to google was the.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
NFL trade deadline on October fifteenth or November fifth.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
As previously scheduled. I didn't see him move up with
the timeline.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Well, technically, by the league calendar, it's November fifth, yes,
but that doesn't mean that teams have to wait to
honor that whole November fifteenth November fifth to date. I mean,
obviously the two teams that you mentioned that the Jets
feeled as though they are still in the running. Obviously
the Bills who beat the Jets feel as though they
(02:56):
are once again one player away. And it is very
because you think about what Brandon Bean did before the
start of the season. They allow you know, Stefan Diggs
to go to the Houston Texans only to realize that
when they really thought they didn't really need him, yes
they did.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah, that headache of Stefan Diggs on and off the
field is probably better to have than no headache at all,
because now he turns into a new headache of oh
my gosh, we need to get Josh Allen some weapons.
Shakira has been very good kin Cad, I don't think
has been as good as they kind of want him
to be as a weapon. And then obviously James Cook
missing last night, so it kind of really put an
(03:35):
exclamation point on them saying we probably need to get
our MVP candidate Josh Allen some weapons here. And I
liked the acquisition of Cooper. Honestly, I think most Bills
fans probably liked the acquisition of any weapon at this
point to that offense.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
And then even if it's square peg, round hole.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
We'll see how it works out with Cooper in Buffalo,
but at this point I think they rather have just anything.
If I'm a Bills fan watching last Night again sans
James Cook, which kind of exemplify the issue.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
You want to get a.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Weapon there, well you do, but understanding why Stefan Digg
was upset the same reason that DeVante Adams, Tarall Owens,
and Chad Johnson were upset in the years that I
play receivers want to receive.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
That's part of the job description. Throw me the.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Damn ball, as Keyshawn Wants famously said. And when you're
not incorporating receivers in the game plan and they're used
to doing that, they get upset.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
What's ironic. We can talk about this more too later.
Amari Cooper, I'm thinking you're naming all those ride receivers
and I'm going to respectfully say I think you could
throw the word diva at at a few of them,
including the other wide receivers drafted traded today in DeVante Adams,
Mark Cooper doesn't say no to me, He's not. He
is a fit for Josh Allen and that Buffalo team.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
It's crazy because as you say that the Mark Cooper
is a fit, I think about Okay, Well, he was
at Dallas and then he was traded to Oakland, and
then Oakland traded him to Cleveland.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Now Cleveland is man.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Maybe he should have been a diva, right, maybe he
should have mean, there's nothing wrong when you know that
you are that type of player. Sometimes you have to
snatch some calls and let people know Ros Smith, who
just left.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
The studio, he was a pretty good wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Damn good wide receivers should be in the Hall.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Of Fame, right, let's make it happen.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
Yes, he should be in the Hall of Fame. But
he was not a diva.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
He just kind of used his work ethic to motivate
other players around him. But that's not how most of
the guys who played the position are because they've been
scoring touchdowns ever since Pop Warner football, and they've been
pointing at the name on the back of the jersey, right,
So it's hard to change the mentality of some of
these guys. But we do have to admit if being
(05:55):
here in Denver looking at the Denver Broncos in the
state of them offensively, I would dare say that you
I know I would, and the listeners to as will
Diva included, they would love to have either of those
wide receivers, would they not?
Speaker 5 (06:11):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (06:12):
I absolutely would, and I would I would kill I mean,
if if he were in any other division, I think
it's very possible, because I don't even think they I
mean it may be made a call just to tried
and see, but in Division, uh, the Broncos would have
killed I think to have DeVante Adams and he's a
massive diva.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
What do you think? He and Aaron Rodgers such good
buddy buddy. They are the same dudes. They are the
same guy.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
And I'd still with everything that comes with him in
that baggage, and he's he's he's what I'm gonna call
a dark horse undercover diva because DeVante Adams I don't
really think gives that off kind of publicly and maybe
even not too much in games or some moments where
he does. But I just you have that feeling just
kind of based on all the all the press conference
(06:55):
he does, the interviews, you kind of feel you're kind
of a deva behind closed doors, aren't you?
Speaker 1 (06:59):
I just feel it.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Other guys, Stefan digs a lot more outwardly. We kind
of see the frustration during games. Obviously, Teo had the
talent to match being a diva, which usually the best
wide receivers. If you got the deva mentality, you better
have the talent to match it. But Davante is kind
of undercovered. But I still would kill to have him
here in Denver, absolutely, to have him here in de
Mark Cooper not as much, but I'd still love to
(07:21):
have him in Denver too. But but the Diva guys,
it don't matter if you're a damn good player, Adams.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
The league is.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Told us countless times because we've seen players get into
situations outside of football. Yeah, and we've been told, oh,
those issues really doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
As long as you're playing well, no one cares.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Right, Remember Aaron Hernandez at Florida, No one cared about
what he was doing off the field. As long as
Herban Myers and Tim Tebow could throw him touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
That's the only thing people cared about.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
But as far as these wide receivers man very very
talented wide receivers. It would be great if there was
a guy out there that the Broncos pick up by
trade deadline. And I'm sure they are scouring looking at
teams rosters, see if it's heavy or light.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
And see if there was a guy.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Who would that guy be, Where is he in his career,
how productive, how young is he, and once again, how
much he's gonna cost.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Well, one guy that has been looks like essentially officially
made available with the with their acquisitions Ata DeVante. Adams
is a guy that Broncos fans know very well. Watching
me on the side with the Chargers is Mike Williams,
who's now being shopped by the New York Jets after
them acquiring DeVante.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
That could be an option. Some other names.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
I don't want to get people too excited because we
haven't heard any connection with the Denver Broncos, so purely
just throwing these names out there.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
DeAndre Hopkins a bit older Tennessee Titans, obviously not not
too great this year. This one I probably wouldn't. It's
it's a bit he's a bit too old. He had
great years in Minnesota. Now with the Panthers, wh we've
seen a couple weeks. Adam feeln can maybe be an option.
No One crazy, the crazy one, the crazy one. I
will way, you're getting crazier than Adam thing even crazier
(09:03):
should I Should I tell you now or tease it?
Speaker 4 (09:05):
Well?
Speaker 1 (09:05):
No, no, tell me now? Okay, the one guy. It's a
team that's one in four.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
It's a team that had a certain other wide receiver
breakout big time last year but currently on ir just
like the guys I'm about to name. Do you think
the Rams, the one and four Rams, would think about
trading away Cooper Cup? Probably probably not. No, do you
try making a call. No, you don't make that call.
I mean, okay, that's a team that could be very quickly.
(09:29):
Now one and four, Matthew Stafford's not getting any younger.
You have Pooka Nakua. Still, that could be a team
that is faster than we thought transitioning into a rebuild.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Yes, I know you're like.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Quickly transitioning into a rebuild, but it would sound great
from the Rams viewpoint if they looked at it that
way and say, okay, well we now have.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
To turn the page.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Yep, we mortgage the future of our team financially, roster
w to win a title, and we did that. Now
should we start to look in a different direction. But
if you're the Denver Broncos, even though Cooper Cup I
feel is a good receiver in his own right, that's
not the direction that you want to go because here
(10:16):
are a couple of things you have to worry about,
and I mentioned them a little earlier, but I'll go
back over there.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
You look at injury history for Cooper Cup YEP one.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Then you look at his age, and then you look
at his pace scale. Now, I have no doubts that
he would, if that were the scenario, would be able
to upgrade the Broncos wide receiver room based on his
experience and things that he can pass down. But once again,
let's remember, Cooper Cup isn't the burner. The Broncos need
(10:47):
a reliable burner, a guy that can stretch the field,
that's a threat down the middle of the field. They
have two guys in Troy Franklin and Marvin Mams, but
those guys are not really utilize in that particular way.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
I mean, I'll reliable burner.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
I'll just go with, honestly, another reliable period wide receiver,
just another guy that bo can depend on. Speaking of
bow Nicks, by the way, I want to get the
listeners involved here. The Common Spirit Health text line is
five six six nine zero. I want you to text
in your thoughts on this conversation and the question I'm
about to ask. Shortly also in the second hour, I
want to get the phones involved if any of y'all
(11:27):
wanted to get your voice right here on Broncos Country
Night three zero three seven one three, eighty five, eighty five.
Hold on to that number for the second hour of
the show. Open up the phone lines a little bit,
have some fun with you for a couple questions. One
talking about potential trade acquisitions as we're near in the
NFL trade deadline here.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
In a couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Also a question I asked on social and we're going
to get into a lot of conversation about bo Knicks,
this offense previewing this upcoming matchup on Thursday Night Football
against the New Orleans Saints. Bo Nicks lots of takes
up and down all through this first portion of the season,
lots about landish takes, lots of dumb takes. And that's
(12:05):
exactly where my question is going to be for today's
a little bit of a poll question. What is the
dumbest take you have seen about bow Nicks so far
this season? I've got one that I will share later,
but I want you the listeners Broncos Country to get
involved again. The text line Common Spirit Health text line
five six six nine zero. What is the dumbest take
you've seen about Bonnicks so far this season? It could
(12:26):
be something of a comparison of a certain player you've
seen made with bow Nicks about him already not being
the guy, or the Broncos already know that you made
a mistake, or he's the reason to blame for the
offensive woes and no one else is to blame whatsoever,
whatever take it is, I want to know what the
dumbest take you've heard about bone Nicks so far in
(12:47):
twenty twenty four again five six six nine zero the
common Spirit health text line as we continue to chat
about more tradeline potential targets. Now that again the NFL
trade leadline seemingly got off to a soft launch today
again with the trades of DeVante Adams going from the
(13:07):
Raiders to the Jets, Amari Cooper going from the Browns
to the Bills. I think is a Raiders earlier, Like
you said, he's been a bunch of teams. Hard to
keep track some time, especially because no one talks about
the Browns, the Bills again acquiring Amari Cooper the Broncos
should they could they make a move at any of
these following positions. Wide receiver, which we just talked extensively about,
tight end, which tight end production across the NFL seemingly
(13:31):
pretty pretty down and obviously definitely here in Denver two
straight weeks with Greg Dolsich being a healthy, inactive and
then you know, honestly we kind of heard Sean teas
a little. I think he was more so talking about
the potential increased workload now that object estimate is healthy
once again, whether it's going to be some of him
(13:52):
or are they going to acquire a running back not
currently in house. There's not too many names out there
that honestly tickle my fans. I know, Cam Acres UH
just moved to the Minnesota Vikings, moving on from the
Houston Texans after Joe Mixon now looks like he is
close to one hundred percent playing pretty darn good last
last week. They have some other options there in Houston
(14:13):
which allows them for them to UH to move on
from Acres. But but Nick, I gotta tell you there's
an argument to be made.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
You look excited. What got you excited?
Speaker 4 (14:22):
As you were happened talking, I started another trade. No
no no, no.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
No, no, no, no trade. But I started looking at
other NFL rosters and thinking of other possible receivers that
the Broncos could trade for to kind of enhance this
particular offense, and usually teams don't like to trade within
the division, even though we've seen it happen.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
So so I tell you now what I think.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
It's the obvious one.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
I left out that someone on the text line with
the nine two four to two just point out the
name a certain guy that could be a wide receiver
one here in Denver almost immediately if traded for. We
can tease it. We'll tease it, yes, and then the potential.
But I'll ask you position wise, not necessarily for now
here in next last comets here of this segment, position
wise not necessarily name specific kind of a two fold question,
(15:10):
what position would you prefer out of tight end, wide
receiver and running back that they would think about inquiring
someone to add to the room. And I guess secondarily,
which position acquisition do you think could have the most
immediate impact on the Broncos wide receiver, tight end and
running back?
Speaker 1 (15:26):
What do you think tight end?
Speaker 4 (15:29):
I mean the tight end.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
But this oftense, what we've seen, it's non existent.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Because true you truly don't have one of those tight
ends that it's a threat vertically, Like Lucas Krull, he
was that guy in training camp so much so that
there were certain people in the media market here was
ready to kind of give him a gold jacket for canon, right,
but we haven't really seen any of that.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
So now most teams have an.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Inline blocking tight end and a guy that you flex
out right now, the Broncos don't really, in my opinion
evaluating standpoint, don't really have any of those guys because
if you did, you would have utilized them.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
I gotta tell you, there's no shortage of good quality
names in the tight end market right now. You look
at maybe in Baltimore, we played here pretty shortly right
before the trade deadline, Mark Andrews because of the kind
of the emergence of Isaiah likely David and Joku in
Cleveland with what the Browns have been doing, Evan Ingram,
I almost Drew Blake Jacksonville now yeah, Jacksonville. Yeah, it
(16:29):
was like he's used to be the Giants, Evan Ingram
with the with the Jaguars, there's there's could be pretty
good names and then headline. But I think the most
common thread we've seen in Atlanta. Uh, they're they're doing well,
but Kyle Pitts has kind of just been a weird
outlier for them.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Over the last couple of years.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
That could be.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
That could be one hell of an acquisition. I gotta
tell you man that that that one potentially excites me. Anyway,
We're going to talk about all that and a whole
lot more tonight here on Broncos Country Tonight. We've got
Michael Kover Zac Seekers on the other side of glass
helping us all evening tonight. We have you the listeners again.
Common Spirit Health text line is five to six six
nine zero. Talk with us all about the trade deadline
coming up here in a couple weeks. What do you
(17:04):
think about the Saints matchup? We're gonna dive into a
little bit coming up next. I am a rod right
alongside Nick Ferguson. I am filling in here for Ben
all Bright.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
Tonight.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
It's Broncos Country Night, moving along here on KOWA, cruising
(17:34):
along here on a Tuesday evening is Broncos Country Night
here on KOA, the official radio home of the Denver Broncos.
I am not Ben Albright, he is off tonight. I
am a rod alongside Nick Ferguson, Couver and Zach Segers
on the other side of the glass with us tonight.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
I had to look and make sure Nick that it.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Was Tuesday, because I did start my day today at
four forty five am running the Rick Louse, the show
Downstairs on the Fox, doing my main show, Mandy today
and then today, so I'm on a fifteen hour marathon.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
I'm feeling good though. I got the sugar free red Bull.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
You know, I had to look at it, make sure
there weren't two there, make sure I'm not seeing double
vision already, A coke zero, a whole lot of different
things to keep me rolling along.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
So I'm a little wired, but I feel good.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Well see, that's a lot of things running and coursing
through your veins.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Right now, no day, but I feel good. Man, I'm blessed.
This is the best best job on earth, so I
ain't complaining.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
How do I see.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
Smoke at some point come out of your ears.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
With eyes roll over or just my head hits the desk?
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Is that more red Bull? Just insert more red Bull?
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Insert more red Bull? Make sure sugar free though? Okay, yeah,
I gotta get the one.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
That's what.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Let me just double check here, yeah, three three carps,
gotta go with the sugar free. I'll tell my wife
the other day I have no understanding why anyone would
do the non sugar free The sugar free quote unquote
better for you, Yes, of course, micals flowing through.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Yeah, well, let's get better here.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Continuing our question again is what is the dumbest take
you have seen about bow Nicks so far this season?
The Common Spirit Health text line again five six six
nine zero. Send those in so we can chat with
chat about them here on air again in the second
hour here in a little under half an hour, if
y'all are interested, we're going to open up the Common
(19:26):
Spirit Health hot line as well to hear y'all's take
in vocal format right here on Broncos Country Night. But man,
I gotta tell you, I haven't seen this one, particularly
in terms of bad takes about bow Nick so far
through the first six games for the Broncos from the three, three,
seven to one again on the Common Spirit Health text
(19:46):
line five six six nine zero, dumbest take I've heard
so far is the knee jerk reactions to benching bow
You've already started in.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
You can't back out now. He needs the reps to grow.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Benching him does nothing other than delay us knowing whether
or not he will be the QB of the future
or not.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Who in the world is suggesting to bench Bo.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
I don't know who.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
That individual is, but there have been sentiments, rumblings, whispers,
if you will, about that type of thing. And should
the Broncos look to put jared'stitament right just to let
bol just kind of learn on a job and just
(20:30):
be that backup.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
I say, no, you already this knee deep in it.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Allow him to finish out the season because the team
is going to be much better next year for all
the sacrifice that are being paid right now. And then
twenty twenty six, man, I mean the Broncos are going
to have like two hundred and forty million dollars I
believe to work with in salary. Cap Bo would have
(20:57):
two years under his belt. That's a lot of experience.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
There's a lot to unpack about why you don't even
think about benching Bow And for me, it starts with
this sentiment.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
There's something.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
I will give a bit of credit and I mean
literally just one percent credit on the idea of even
thinking about Stidham in the sense that consistency experience maybe
more impactful in the immediate term. Sure, there's something to
be said, yeah, maybe in a given game, in a
given spot, start Jared Stidham could play well. But there's
(21:33):
three words that this season I'm living by for the
Denver Broncos. Growth not wins. Growth not wins. Most important
for me is watching bo Nix and this offense get
better in games like at Tampa at New York.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
You come out with big time wins. Awesome to me.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
And I know in the NFL it's silly to say,
and I know what Jade Daniels is doing in Washington,
and I know what Caleb Williams is doing with the Bears.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
But for me, we're one growth not wins. And you
do not.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Grow whatsoever as a team, as a franchise, and then
as bow Knicks as your potential franchise quarterback with him
being on the bench, zero to be gained whatsoever because
we know what the ceiling is with Jared Cinon at
quarterback and this team with Jared Stinn at quarterback, nothing
to be gained by that.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Well zero.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
I'm glad you mentioned Jade Daniels and Caleb Williams because
those two quarterbacks fit into that window of what you're
describing growth not wins, because both of those quarterbacks have
grown a lot since week one.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
I mean, I mean two weeks ago.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
People were looking to destroy Caleb Williams as the number
one overall pick, but that ability that he has to
escape the pocket extended plays fine receivers down the field.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
It helped him.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
And also what was hurting him was he didn't have
a Keenan, he didn't have a number two.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
You just had DJ Moore.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
So the more of the story is you got to
allow these young quarterbacks to truly be who they are,
but you also have to make sure that there's adequate
personnel around them to help expand their game, not reduce it.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
And with the game plans creativity and adaptability, we're also
seeing in Chicago and in Washington respectfully respectively. So there's
something to that effect as well in terms of setting
continuing to set up bow knicks for success. And again
we were talking about early on and we'll get more
into this as the show rolls on. In terms of
(23:40):
trade acquisitions to further along, because IE hundred percent believe
that the Broncos, without a doubt in some or multiple capacities,
should be active.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
At the trade deadline.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
One hundred percent I understand they are quite handicapped in
terms of what they can do with the salary cap.
But you maneuver that in a certain way, you get
a certain player on a certain contract. Again, there's a
lot of different outlets out there across wide receiver, tight end,
and running back that you can think about that immediately
improve and expedite bo Nicks in this offense's growth.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
All right, I'm glad you set that up because I
got a player for you.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
I like plays. I love it when the plan comes
together exactly.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Here's the player I think that the Broncos could utilize
based on this player's skill set, and it's not going
to cost them a lot of money or a large
draft pick to acquire him.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
And as former cy U buff Laviska Chanault. And here's why.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
The reason why I say that is when we look
at what Taysom Hill was for Sean Payton. He was
came in as a quarterback, couldn't get on the field,
started playing special teams, and then he became a gadget player.
And when you look at Lavishka's channault, like six foot,
two hundred and twenty four pounds, that is a guy
that if you want to throw those bubble screens to
(25:05):
something that we haven't seen the Broncos do or screen
and go. I mean Levisco Chanaut can actually do that.
He is a very athletic guy, and if you need
it to at times like we've seen San Francisco use
Deebo Samuel right, you can use him in that situation
where you can put him.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Guess what, at running back. That's a revelation.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Why not?
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Now it may sound ridiculous, but once again, we're looking
at the value of the player still being young, being
cost effective, and we're looking at the skill set to
match with Bow who has shown that his athleticism is
off the charts. Adding a guy like that would only
help the Broncos offense because he can pay a multitude
(25:54):
of positions and you only have to pay him one check.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
I'm double checking on the Wikipedia paid right now of
Sean Payton to see if his middle name is Gadget,
because if it's not, it should be. And I just
learned by the way that Sean Payton Shawn is not
his first name. Shawn's his middle name, Patrick, Sean Peyton.
I want to double check if his middle name was
Gagt because Sewn absolutely could find ways to have fun
and maximize Leviska shanals. I mean the amount of guys
(26:19):
that come to mind. Again, obviously you mentioned Tayosum, Alvin Kamara.
There's so many guys that Sean loves to get creative with,
and to have an outlet like what Leavisko would offer
would be so much fun and again just another tool,
another toy in the chest for Sean to for Sean
to find some My point being outlets for creativity are
(26:41):
going to benefit this offense and acquiring a guy like
Leaviska Taysom Hills thirty four, but even I mean, honestly,
we know that Seawan loves loves Taysom, but any of
these guys that can be worked at many capacities. I know,
I don't like the idea of Taysom either, but I
like the idea of Sean Payton with Tasom Hill.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
But see, I like the idea of what brings to
the table.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Yeah, theah, the concept not tasting himself, but the concept
of being that guy that can do so much.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Why said Lavisca sco buffs.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Sco buffs, and he's also only twenty six years old,
which I had to look at because it feels like
he had been the league longer. He's bounced around Jaguars, Panthers,
and now I honestly I forgot for a second that
he's obviously now on the Seahawks too. We'll get into
that in a whole lot. Moregan coming up here in
just a bit. We're continuing to ask the question on
the Common Spirit Health text line five six six nine zero,
what's the dumbest take you've seen about bo Nicks so
(27:33):
far this season? A lot more coming in on that
on that text line, so we're going to get into
that here in just a few moments. But first from
the KOA Traffic Center, it's gonna quick check on traffic
with Dave O'Brien.
Speaker 5 (27:45):
There's a calmness when he plays, you know, and he
too has been through, you know, the adversity early on
coming out of high school to Oklahoma and then transferring,
but there is a confidence when he's on the field,
and you see that in pre season and last week.
It's not too big for him and he's got a
live arm. We were really impressed, Not that it matters,
(28:07):
but we had him graded higher, and I'm sure the
Saints did as well, and it got to a point
where you just had to take the grade. But you know,
he he was impressive.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
He was impressive.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
Indeed that of course his Broncos head coach Sean Payton
talking about Spencer Rattler, current starting quarterback for the New
Orleans Saints, and I played that because Nick here. We
can talk more about it in the in the remainder
of the show as well, but just to tease it
a bit here, I'm going to ask you something that
big Al and Ryan Edwards was talking about on KA
Sports a little bit earlier, and Big Al said that
(28:42):
he is nervous that Spencer Rattler. What if he's better
than Bo Nicks on Thursday, specifically Thursday one game. How
would you feel and what would be your level of
concern if Spencer Rattler, a guy that apparently maybe the
Broncos were a little interested in if they didn't draft
(29:04):
Bow a little bit later rounds, will be level of concern?
What shoud Broncos country's level of concern be if Ratler
looks better than Bo on Thursday, which is entirely possible.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
I would have a huge level of concern if that
were the case, And Here's why, because when you look
at the fact right now, the game is scheduled for Thursday,
and I got to go back and watch check out
the end report. But that's a possibility that Alive may
not play in that game and another one of their
top receivers may not play in that game as well.
(29:35):
And if that were the case, now we're talking about
a situation where Spencer Rattler was able to beat the
Denver Broncos, who they have a good defense and I'm
going to say a great defense, and you're doing it
possibly without two receivers. Rashid Shahid got to check to
see what his knee is like, and Chris Olive is
(29:57):
expected to be out of that game. Then just think,
I mean looking on their offensive line, they have a
left guard that's out, a right guard.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
Who's injured as well.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Yes, so once again, if Rattler is able to make
some kind of Jake Plummer Jake the Snake type of plays,
that would be highly disappointing because.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
You got a team offensively who has issues.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
You said the word right there, disappointing. I'd be disappointed,
but my level of concern would be zero because it
continues to be one game one first season for both
bo and for Spencer.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
For both these quarterbacks, now they'd be.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
At a disappointment because of what you just said, all
the pieces missing from New Orleans, and honestly for the
Denver Broncos, yes, at right tackle, they're gonna look like
they're possibly gonna be with with Parrott again, obviously mcglinchy.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Hopefully we'll be back here in the next couple of weeks. Obviously,
uh Powchewski maybe.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
In the mix as well when those guys are healthy.
We'll see what they do. But other than that, honestly,
you know at the Broncos at center as well. But
you know, honestly, based on what we're kind of seeing,
these guys have been filling the void pretty good bow
Nicks in the offense, especially against what we saw with
that New Orleans defense.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
We clearly know which.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Side here should be performing a lot higher caliber and
it should be bow in the offense. But with all
that said, it'll be disappointment. It won't be necessarily concern
for me.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
Well, once again, the disappointment will go back to when
you look at where Rattler was drafted or not drafted,
and you look at where Bo was drafted. Even though
these quarterbacks are not playing head to hit, they're not
playing against one another right Their teams are playing and
competing against one another. So we'll just have to see
(31:45):
how this works out, but it will be rather disappointing
from that standpoint. One was not drafted to a guy
who was drafted and he was drafted twelve, and that's
bow Knicks.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
But this is where.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Your team support comes to help you out on a
short week going on the row.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
This is a game that the Broncos should win.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
They should and the other thing too, to add to
this element of potentially Rattler out playing Bo. And this
is the one, honestly, the fair criticism I've heard that
kind of makes a lot of sense and continues to
and probably will the rest of the season if the
trends of the offense continue the way that they are.
Is that we heard going into the season, and I
repeated it and believed it. Bo leaved it that bow
(32:29):
Knicks was supposed to be one of, if not the
most pro ready quarterback of this class.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Not Spencer, not Caleb, not Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
Bow Knicks was going to be potentially the most or
one of the most pro ready, ready to hit the
ground running quarterbacks. So another performance against a quarterback, or
a performance against the quarterback in this class where he's outplayed,
could be could be an issue, could be an issue
in that sense that why is Bo not as far
along as we had thought he would be at the
pro level. That's where my concern starts to turn up
(33:03):
just a smitch.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
They shouldn't turn up.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Neither should anyone else. No, no, no one. No quarterback
plays a game by themselves. No, even though everyone likes
to put quarterbacks on the pedestal, I don't care. Joe Montana,
you're even talking about Dan Marino, even the great John
Elway himself, they don't win games by themselves. So I'll say,
as a kids say, now you can miss me with.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
That, miss me with that. I'm telling myself to miss
me with that as well. All Right, we are off
and rolling, continuing. One hour down, two more to go.
He is Nick Ferguson im a Rod filling for Ben Albright.
This is Broncos Country Night Hour two coming up next
on KAA
