Speaker 1 (00:00):
And then for Benjamin all Bright alongside Nick Ferguson and
Zach Seekers behind the glass doing a great job five
six six nine zero the Common Spirit Health text line.
If you want to get involved in the show, great
show tonight, we have David Bruton Junior on earlier, Rick Lewis,
the Broncos Color Analysts, now Werewolf also joining us earlier
in the show. If you missed any of that, you

(00:23):
can find it on Kwacolorado dot com or on the
free and redesigned iHeartRadio app. We can now set KOA
as a preset, just like you do in your car.
Go ahead and set taking it for granted the podcast
as a preset as well.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
While you're on there.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
When without further ado, let's head out to the KOA
Common Spirit Health Hotline and bring on Sean Keeler from
the Denver Post Seaan, how are you tonight, man.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
I'm great, Thanks for having me. I gotta be honest,
I can't follow with Werewolf. That's a tough one.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Well, I guess you just got to go over to
London and walk through the moors with.

Speaker 5 (00:55):
Rick Lewis and get a bit.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Is it bad that I like to owling? More than
American Werewolf in London? Is that too deep a cut
welf movies?

Speaker 5 (01:05):
That is, it's the time of year for those type
of movies.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah, amen, I love it.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
You've had some.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Great articles out on with Denver Post. I follow you
on Instagram. I'm at Sean Keeler and I want to
start out with the bus because, uh, as.

Speaker 5 (01:19):
We know here and uh in this area.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
You've had some run ins we'll call them with coach Prime.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
But you gave him some love this past week.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Yeah, yeah, I did you know, speaking of horror stories,
that was I'm from Iowa. Full disclosure, I didn't go
to Iowa. Iowa stated like, oh you must be a
rand you must be No, no, neither, uh, but I
have a lot of family who are Iowa state fans.
They were, They were crying in their corn all weekend.

(01:49):
I hey, hat tip to Pat Shermer. I'm saying that
on the radio. I'm saying that out loud. They out
schemed and out played a staff that a lot of
us thought they wouldn't and that's down to them. And
I think some of that at Batt Campbell, the Iowa
state coach who's up for every job imaginable after this one.

(02:11):
I don't know why it said, Hey, some of that
loss was on us, some of the calls we made
that fourth and one late in the game, and some
of the blown coverages. But you know, hat hat tip
to Dion, hat tip to to to pencil Pat. They
turned some things around and we'll see if they can
keep it up.

Speaker 6 (02:30):
Come on, pencil Pat. I haven't heard that one before.
But what that being said, Sean, I know you take
a lot of strays and as it pertains a coach,
you know, prime in the buffs.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
But from what.

Speaker 6 (02:44):
You've seen, great is excellent. When they went to the
buy Now they have the Utah uths. I mean, with
this team and with it so much kind of charisma
going on after this big win.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
What do they need to do to keep this momentum
moving forward?

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Not read or listen to a darn thing, you know
what I mean?

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Yeah, like, look at Kansas.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Last year, look at look at the bowl game. Whatever.
This is the thing that again I'm giving the staffage flowers.
Here's where they've struggled is coming off a big win,
going into a tough road matchup or a tough away
from Boulder matchup. Right, and on paper even more than
Iowa State, which I thought would be better at this,

(03:31):
there are at least more consistent of this. You've got
a Utah team in fact to be in Utah again,
and that with a running quarterback, and that plays right
into some serious weak spots of this defense in despite
of the obviously the adjustments of that Rob Lemingston made
to against Iowa State, They're they're tightening up, but this

(03:54):
is where they're always seemed to fold there the hardest
when they're highest. So yeah, I think I just pretend
that Heeler and everybody else is still ripping in saying
you're terrible would be angry because when they play hungry,
they're pretty good. And when you know, and when they
play get some play a quarterback, they're they're a lot
easier to watch.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Yeah, you know, I agree with that one.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Sean Keeler from Denver post with us on Broncos Country
a night on Kowa. You also had a very fun article,
an opinion article on the Broncos offense and how much
more fun it would be to watch with the crayon
eater Cam scattabout running back instead of R J.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Harvey.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
What have you thought about this Broncos team so far
this year, And do you think this game against the Giants,
you know, a lot of young energy with Jackson Darton scattaboo.
Do you think this could be a trap game for
the Broncos a little bit?

Speaker 3 (04:47):
I yes, and no, I do think in a way
they got a real stinker out of the way against
the perfect team at the perfect time. As much as
it was hard to watch over here at that hour,
if you were gonna play terrible, do it at seven
in the morning, do it in another country. Uh, and

(05:09):
do it against the Jets, who I just can't even
You know, I've seen a lot of coaching, and you
guys have seen more than me. In three decades, I've
ever seen anything quite like what I saw from from
Aaron Glenn. But what we have it was called Nathaniel Hackett,
but it's it's I think this is a tricky one.
But I think they got a wake up call, if
that makes sense, you know, ironically, as we all did

(05:31):
getting up that early for that game here. Uh. And
I think in a way it kind of pointed out
it's always better to play bad wind and have a
pretty loss, and that's what you had.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
It was.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
It was ugly, it was not sexy except on the
defensive side. And now you know you've got to address
some things, and clearly on the on the wire with
the roster. They've been scrambling to do that, knowing that
this is a pretty pivotal two week stretch coming up
in this month to get ahead and really get a
foothold on the season to come. The Giants have that

(06:04):
young energy. It's a little reverse, right. The Giants are
kind of where the Broncos were kind of interminably for
about five years there, like dart Is Drew Locke and
you know, is Scatabo still Lynton's a terrible comparison to
the opposite guys, but you know they have that nothing

(06:26):
to lose gun slinger rookie mentality, and most teams are dangerous.
They're really dangerous late because we're still in October, because
it's still Sean Payton is misster October. This is still
his time of year. I think they got their wake
up call. They got it in London, and I think
this is a chance to get some headway against a
couple of NFC frowsies two weeks at home and get

(06:48):
that momentum going again.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
Sean, it's a big celebration of this Sunday at the
when the Broncos faced off against the Giants. Obviously, the
Mayor Thomas is going into the.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Ring of fame.

Speaker 6 (06:58):
A lot of the guys on Super Bowl fifty they
would be back here in Denver. With that being said,
give me one of your best Mari Thomas memories or
anything from that Super Bowl fiftyeen.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Oh, I tell you, the Super Bowl is what comes
to mind from me right at the end and from Afar,
because I think I was in Kansas City and I'll
boo hiss at the time working and I remember, you know,
kind of at the end of Peyton's tenure and how
kind of up and down that season was. From Afar,
but I'll tell you what that defense. I covered the

(07:33):
Ravens Super Bowl title. I covered the Monty Kiffin Bucks
when they won it. All. I wasn't that super Bowl fifty,
but I had that kind of vibe with that defense.
And as a child of the eighties and the eighty
five Bears, those are the kind of kind of units
to stick with you and legal mark not just you locally,
but naturally. And I think it's great that the no

(07:55):
fly zone is it should be recognized as one of
the great defenses of all times. That's where I was.
I didn't know DC well. I knew friends of his
when I first moved here who I talked to when
he passed sadly, and they said nothing but the kind
of things of him. And so it's great to see
him honored, and it's great to see that team honored
for their legs here in Denver.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Yeah, it really is.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
And I'm the same way it was before I got
to town here in Denver as well.

Speaker 5 (08:19):
But everyone you talk.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
To, you know, when someone passes on, in a DT's case,
way too early, but every time someone passes, you hear
the good and the bad from people.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
And everyone I've talked to that.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Knew DT personally also they say nothing but good things.
And I think that that is a legacy that will
live on forever. And speaking of those eighty five Bears,
the Broncos defense this year on pace to pass eighty
five Bears for the all time sack record with eighty five.
They're on pace for eighty five sacks this year.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
It's incredible.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
What do you think about this Broncos pass rush and
the defense as a whole, the addition of Hufunga and
now we've got Dre Greenlaw back off of ir and
looks like he's going to play this weekend.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
The rich get Richard and I think if you're a broncomaniac,
that's that's the kind of thing you love to see.
And this is as much as we dog again the
offensive numbers and and what we had to watch in London,
either up close or from or from a far h
this defense is coming together. And and those nine sacks

(09:22):
yead jets, that's legit. That's hard to do. That's that's
an elite, historic defense against anybody. Uh in this league.
You don't have lines that are are going to be
proud to give that up week after week after week.
And if you take away but basically, the only way
you could beat this Broncos defense is to make the

(09:43):
middle linebackers inside linebackers run right. That's about it. I mean,
you're running out of ways to find holes that you
can continually consistently exploit in a game and a league
where it's about that chess match. You put a healthy
and this is a big if. If you put a

(10:05):
healthy drag greenwall in the middle back and you take
away those mismatches across the middle of the field of
that what was it, the inside triangle?

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Sean Payton calls it, yes, and Andy.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Really exploited that against the Gualcos and that's been kind
of paired back a little bit uh in subsequent weeks
because they know that's where teams are gonna go. You
could take away the inside triangle when you're already taking
away the perimeter. I'm sorry, buddy, Ryan, this is not
gonna They're gonna wipe be from the record books. Maybe
this is this is gonna be a lot of fun.

Speaker 6 (10:38):
So Sean, how would you if you were to give
the offense a great up to this point in the season,
after not even playing the Giants game? What kind of
gray would you give this offense? And why?

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Oh c the c plus the efficiency, the inconsistency.

Speaker 7 (10:59):
I'm an I say efficiency, the lack thereof the the
jacko and hide the miss up the opportunities that the
cameras and all of us can see you're there.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
And this goes back to Bonicks to some degree that
just aren't being hit on what I see for efficiency wise.
ESPN's FBI had them second in defensive efficiency which is
mostly points, which is the point, the bottom line of this.
And eighteenth in offensive efficiency that's about a scene c

(11:33):
plus offense in this league. I think that's that's what
I see. There's room to grow, and I think if
you can, you'll figure out how to live without ben
powers and continue to run the ball and use the
run to set things up, whether it's play action or otherwise.
For Bons, You've definitely got some room for improvement, just

(11:53):
for some room for some at least some stability going
forward and less of acute stuff. It's not like pay
It was kind of experimenting with some stuff in that game,
which I think you can do against the Jets again, yes,
full nine. Don't disrespect, no complete disrespect to the Jets.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
You can.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
You can't do that against the Giants to their credit
or at least as they're coming together, and probably can't
do that against the Cowboys. So there also was a
game to get your doctor Frankenstein tinkering out of the way.
That was it, and now you've got to have a
good play going forward. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Well, never miss an opportunity to read Sean Keeler and
the Denver Post.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
He is uh one of the.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Best, always has a great time and I love your
cheeky comments and all your articles. Sean, thanks so much
for the time tonight man.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
Anytime, guys stay here.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Thanks for having me to see you.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Sean Keeler with a Denver post, Sean said, was it
a C plus CE.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Or C plus?

Speaker 4 (12:51):
See?

Speaker 1 (12:51):
I'll post the same question to you, what do you
what grade would you give the Broncos offense?

Speaker 2 (12:56):
I'm right there for Sean, Yeah, me too.

Speaker 6 (12:58):
I would give them with some it see because average,
Well a C plus is that's kind of a low B,
is it not?

Speaker 4 (13:07):
No, it's not. I thought that's how it was when
you if you're grading on a.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Curve, well, what's the curve? You didn't pass Broncos offenses?

Speaker 4 (13:16):
You know what?

Speaker 6 (13:17):
In this case, it's hard to It all depends on
what your scale is.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Let's let's put it. Let's do that. For one, I'm
on my scale.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
I'm giving it a solid SE because there's more to
this offense than me C.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
I I feel as.

Speaker 6 (13:33):
Though that certain players are not being utilized in the
way that they can and for me, and this is
because I coached against Tyreek Kill when he was with
Kansas City you when that cheetah is running vertical, Hey,
everyone bets be on notice. But when he's running jet sweeps,

(13:53):
you're helping us out because he's not going vertical, and
all we have to do is see him communicate and rallying.
And what I mean by that is Marvin Mems even
though Sean Payton deploys him in a lot of those
jet sweeps and they line him up in the backfield,
don't give away what you're going to do because I
can tell you defensively, when I see Marvin in that

(14:15):
zoo position.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
Man, you made life easy for us.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Yeah, but he's just.

Speaker 6 (14:20):
Running tackle because Marvin is not Marshawn Lynch, so he's
not going to run through players.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
You just run and tackle him.

Speaker 6 (14:26):
But you need that guy going vertical because he stresses
the defense.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
And it's not like Marvin came into the NFL as
a gadget guy. He was a prolific wide receiver in college.
He ran all the routes. I think he's underutilized in
this offense.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
I totally agree with you once again.

Speaker 6 (14:43):
That's why I'm giving this offense right now a C
grade because that's what you have shown. That's what you
have displayed. Now, do they have a plus plus capabilities? Absolutely,
but we haven't seen that.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Well, what's your quote, potential gets you fired?

Speaker 4 (15:01):
Yeah, but in this case, you know, Sean Pay's not
getting fired.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
He's pretty safe and he's got the Broncos at forward
to this year, and I don't care how predictable it is,
but at the beginning of every game, first series, I'm
giving JK. Dobbins at least one run and I'm throwing
the ball to Courtland Sutton.

Speaker 6 (15:20):
Well with that point in the in the last two
or three games the Broncos first possession, they against the
Chargers and against the Eagles and against the Jets. It's
three games they start off in that first possession, running
the ball on first.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Now in second down, Yeah, and next.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
Those next couple of possessions, Oh, he throwing it. They
throwing it.

Speaker 5 (15:43):
See if it were me.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
And obviously Sean Payton knows a hell of a lot more,
I'll forget more about football than I'll ever know. But
I would love to see Courtland starting Sutton targeted on
that first series every game because you.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Know he's reliable.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
He's either going to catch the ball or he's going
to get a penalty draw, but you have to set.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
It up first. Yeah, and one target the entire game.
You know what.

Speaker 6 (16:07):
And for me, you've you gave sauce Gardner too much
credit because the week before right Schottenheimer and Dag Prescott
went after Sauce Gardner with George Pickens.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Yeah, he had a game.

Speaker 4 (16:22):
I'm just saying, we're having a hell of a show.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Grant Smith and for Benjamin Albright, got Zack Segers behind
the board right beside my guy, Nick Ferguson. We've got
the NFL six pack coming up on Broncos Country at
Night on KOA eight fifty am ninety four to one FM.
Paul Bright alongside Nick Ferguson. Zack Seger is doing a
great job.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Behind the glass.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
I had some great guests tonight man David Bruton Junior
and Rick Lewis the Werewolf and Broncos color analyst, and
also Sean Keeler in.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
The last segment. If you missed any of that.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
In finding at Kwacolorado dot com or on the free
and redesigned iHeartRadio app, we can now set KWA as
a preset, just like you do in your car, one
click of a button on the apps. You can hear
Nick ferguson anytime you want five six, six nine zero,
the Common Spirit health text line if you want to
get involved in the show real quick. Before we get

(17:18):
to the six pack, got to give a shout out
to weld Works.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
You and Ben were down there for the Great American Beer.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Festival last week Thursday, I believe right.

Speaker 6 (17:28):
Yes, then they were supposed to send you some things
as way of carry a pigeon through Benjamin Albright.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
And send me things. They did.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
They sent me a variety four pack. One of my
favorite beers of theirs, Juicy Bits.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
It's an ip a. I don't think it would be
over your alley.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
But also this extra broccoli broccoli pale Ale.

Speaker 5 (17:48):
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm excited.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
I've got my in laws coming in town this weekend
and we're gonna have a little beer tasting the weird,
the weird Weld Works beers. Yes, but we're gonna have
a little taste. Right now, let's get to the NFL
six pack.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
It's time for the NFL six pad.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
I'm going to insight and insight information you can't find
anywhere else.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
I know.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Six the top six NFL adline two.

Speaker 8 (18:18):
I think it's definitely on the table. When asked about
Dallas's a defensive struggles, Jerry Jones noted that thanks to
the Micah Parsons trade, the Cowboys now have the AMMO
necessary to make trades to improve their defense. So, you know, really,
when you think about it, good thing they got rid
of Micah Parsons because now they can make their defense better.
Do you think we will see the Cowboys make a

(18:39):
trade to improve their defense And do you think such
a move would lessen the pain of the Parsons trade
or do you think it would make it even worse?

Speaker 6 (18:48):
In hindsight, the potential to make it worse is definitely there,
because it's when you're digging a hole, you think, and
the way to get.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
Out is to keep digging, right, and I just get
out of the hole.

Speaker 6 (19:00):
But Jerry has a tendency to have a lot of
faith in his decision making. Some have been great, but
for the most part hasn't been what player you're gonna
go out there and is going to give you better
production at this particular time than Michael Parson did.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Yeah, I think Jerry Jones is just talking to talk
and that's a lot of what Jerry Jones does, and
I don't think anything's going to improve your defense more
than the guy you already got rid of. I will
say this about the Cowboys. Their offense, Dak Prescott Man
and Javonte Williams. His rebirth down there has been fun
to watch, but their defense thinks. I mean, you're giving

(19:34):
up thirty points to the Carolina Panthers and losing that game.

Speaker 8 (19:37):
One hundred and eighty yards from free O'Donnell Precododdle had
a rushing success rate in that game of one hundred percent.
Every single carry he had was a successful run that
kept his team ahead of the sticks. The Cowboys were
the number one defense with Micah Parson since he's been
drafted number thirty two without him, and that's bearing out
this season.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Oh about this for a thought.

Speaker 6 (19:59):
Instead of trading for more defensive players, how about coaching
up the ones you have already?

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Yeah, do your job.

Speaker 8 (20:08):
Three Tomorrow night, two quarterbacks on the wrong.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Side here with your ages and again well face off in.

Speaker 8 (20:19):
The second oldest quarterback battle in NFL history by combined age,
with Joe Flacco and Aaron Rodgers squaring off a combined
age of eighty two and two hundred sun days. The
next closest, sorry, the record holder rather is Tom Brady
and Drew Breese, who had a combined age of eighty.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
Three during their last playoff duel. Do you think this
Unk Bowl is.

Speaker 8 (20:45):
A sign of things to come and that we'll have
more forty plus quarterback battles over the next decade as
quarterbacks keep getting older?

Speaker 4 (20:53):
Did you say, did you call it the Unk Bowl?

Speaker 8 (20:55):
Yeah, it's the youngin's term nowadays.

Speaker 6 (20:58):
Nick. I like that term, and I think it's great
if guys can play to this length of time in
their career. Right, but you can only do this with
certain positions quarterback, long snapper and being a kicker. So
I'll play up both Aaron Rodgers and Joe Flacco. Yeah,
I got the AARP type of game.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
I saw another name for it, the Icy Hot Bowl,
see because they're using that icy hot after every game.
I say, more power to you, man if you can
keep playing and Aaron Rodgers on a five to one team.
Little different situation for Joe Flacco at least he's out
of Cleveland moved on to Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Who day, But I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
I think it's cool that they're still playing. I thought
Joe Flacco had a great answer earlier this week about
why he's still playing and how much passion he still
has left.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
For the game. And I think it's awesome. I think
it's cool.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
I think the longer you can play, the better.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
And I think this is also a sign of maybe
the young quarterbacks aren't getting developed enough in college and
being ready to play at the pro game. Because these
old guys are show it out.

Speaker 8 (22:01):
There's something to that maybe not being developed up in
the pro game either. I mean we're seeing Sam Darnold,
Baker Mayfield, Daniel Jones, three of the best I don't
know seven eight quarterbacks this year, all guys who I
think most everyone in the NFL gave up on at
some point in their careers, and given enough time, you've
seen it all come together for them and other leading

(22:22):
elite offenses.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Yep. Yeah, that's a good point. Or speaking of.

Speaker 8 (22:30):
The icy Hot Bowl, they might definitely need some after
playing on that poor Pittsburgh field last week.

Speaker 5 (22:36):
This Thursday night game will be.

Speaker 8 (22:38):
In Cincinnati, thankfully, but members from both the Steelers and
Browns organizations, players and coaches alike, have reached out to
the NFLPA, the NFL itself and just generally have have
complained to the media about how awful the field was
at Akersher last week, there was some fresh sod put

(23:00):
in and as a result, it just led to clumps
of turf flying all over the place coming up with
the players cleats it at being a general health risk.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
Do you think this will continue to be.

Speaker 8 (23:11):
A problem at Pittsburgh home games all season long? And
do you think we'll ever reach a point where just
every NFL stadium has a plane service that's safe for football.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
It seems kind of ridiculous.

Speaker 8 (23:23):
This is a near trillion dollar industry and we're still
not at that point.

Speaker 5 (23:26):
Do you think we'll ever get there?

Speaker 6 (23:27):
Nick Ferguson, I don't know, but I know more teams
are leaning towards have being artificial turf, and that's a
conversation where guys are constantly getting injured and teams are
looking at what's cost effective for them because that allows
them to have so many concerts and things at their
stadium and they don't have to worry about preparing the field,

(23:49):
especially when you talk about colder months, the field if
you don't have the proper coils heated, and is that
treated properly, You're going to see the field tearing up
the way that actually is. And to me, if your
best product is your player, you have to make sure
you protect your investment.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Yeah, that's where I stand on this.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
I mean, you're the most valuable assets of your trillion
dollar business are the players on the field, yep.

Speaker 5 (24:14):
And if you're not protecting them, what are you doing.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
But we also had this conversation about MetLife a couple
of weeks ago, and they are an artificial turf surface,
and that's like the highest rate of ACL injuries in
the league happened there.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
So I don't know what.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
The answer is, but I think just throw some more
money at it and figure it out.

Speaker 8 (24:31):
You're the NFL well Medlife's turf is notoriously terrible.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
It seems, you know, artificial situation. It seems like.

Speaker 8 (24:37):
They kind of did a cheap job on that entire
stadium from at least what little I've been able to gather.
I just I feel like there should be a standard
for NFL ownership groups. And I know it's hard because
some of these teams are kind of mom and pop
shops that have been in their families, like the Bengals
are the Steelers or the Steelers were the Giants. All

(24:58):
these teams were talking about. But at a point, I mean,
I just think it's ridiculous. Take care of your players. Thankfully,
the Giants are finally doing it for the World Cup.
They're replacing their turf for that event so they can
host the World Cup.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
It's just crazy to me.

Speaker 8 (25:10):
You have an unsafe playing surface for years upon years
for your NFL players who are suiting up, you know,
eight nine times a year, and you will.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
You won't do it for them, You'll do it for
the two World Cup games or whatever you'll host.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Yeah, how does that make any sense?

Speaker 6 (25:23):
It's all about money, because once again, you can't cut corners,
and you can't cut corners when it comes to.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
The players and what you're paying them.

Speaker 6 (25:33):
You remember when the when the Pinners first came here,
it was the last game of the season. It gets
the charges and the field was beat the crap. They
put almost what half a million dollars into changing the field.
This is what you're supposed to do.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Yeah, well, it helps having the retless owners and we're
lucky here in broadcast country that does help five.

Speaker 8 (25:57):
Brian Branch, the star safety slash nickel for the Detroit Lions,
has been suspended for this week's upcoming game for a
fight he got into with Juju Smith's juster following this
week's Lions Chiefs game on Sunday Night Football. Branch appealed
the suspension, but today, unsurprisingly, the NFL decided to uphold
his one game outage. Do you think Brands deserved to

(26:21):
be suspended for a game, and if so, should he
have been.

Speaker 5 (26:24):
Suspended for more than just one game?

Speaker 4 (26:27):
I think the.

Speaker 6 (26:28):
Crime he only threw one punch, so he's spending one game,
so I'm.

Speaker 4 (26:33):
Fine with it.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
So the suspension is on how many punches he throw.
So if he throws two punches two games, what happens
if he rips the helmet off like Miles Garrett style
Mason Rudolph.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
Oh, then that's a mandatory five.

Speaker 5 (26:44):
As a mandatory five.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Mandatory five.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
I actually, I know you're not supposed to say this,
but I kind.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Of liked it, like I was a fan of him.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
I mean, when you see the replay of what Juju
did to him endgame action, I think he got his
point across in the way that he knew how and uh,
I think a little bloody nose for Juju was well deserved.

Speaker 6 (27:09):
Well, I would just say he just could have turned
the table over, throw a little gatorade table, throw up
gatoray table.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
No fine, no one gets injured and you're able to
get rid of that negative energy.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
I know one player you would have liked to throw
a punch at. Who's that Pinez Ward?

Speaker 4 (27:27):
Well, I kind of got my revenge in a different way.

Speaker 6 (27:30):
Yeah, I threw a legal punch in the game, but
it was with my helmet.

Speaker 8 (27:37):
Colts linebacker Zire Franklin talked about this today on Jeff
Teigue's podcast. He talked to or he was talking about
ju Ju Smiths schushert said Brian Branch did the lord's work.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
By hitting him in the face.

Speaker 8 (27:51):
Said, uh, he needed his bleep whoop.

Speaker 5 (27:55):
For quite some time.

Speaker 8 (27:57):
And talking about ju Ju smith Schuster So you weren't
alone in that opinion, and I'm on a I'm also
with you, Grant. I gotta say I thought it was
crazy how we're treating Patrick Mahomes like he's some foreign
diplomat or something. You don't have to shake the guy's
hand after the game. I mean, it's a nice thing
to do, but you don't have to the way Juju
went and grabbed Brian Branch to go go back and
shake my home's hand, You're not required to do that.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
No, I think I'm totally okay with it. But I
do think the one game suspension is the right call.

Speaker 8 (28:32):
Lost track and I was like, I'm sorry, guys, I'm out.
I'm not number six for you guys. Here after his
win over the Washington Commanders, Caleb Williams said he couldn't
care less about the public criticism of his play. How
do you think Williams has played under Ben Johnson? And
do you think the Bears will be a playoff team
in the NFC this year?

Speaker 6 (28:53):
Is it work in progress that happens with a new coach.
I think the Bears can because they just be the
watching the Commanders to show that they have those capabilities.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
And I think Weth agree is a playoff team right,
the Commanders absolutely.

Speaker 6 (29:07):
So it's just about you know, consistency. But I'm happy
to see Caleb playing well.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yeah, me too.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
I think the biggest thing, you know, his completion percentage
is pretty similar, but he's getting more yards per attempt
He's got nine touchdowns to two interceptions. I think he's
growing up this year, like I think Ben Johnson has
a big impact on the play on the field, But
it seems like Caleb Williams just kind of gets it more.
The position he's in as a franchise quarterback.

Speaker 8 (29:32):
And the stat that might do the best job of
evidencing that is the sacks.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
He's done so much a.

Speaker 8 (29:37):
Much better job of vantaging those situations and getting rid
of the ball on time that it makes you think
he's at least seeing and understanding that that offense a
little better.

Speaker 4 (29:46):
I'm with you guys.

Speaker 8 (29:47):
On the on the Bears and Commanders being in similar
tiers of teams, But that NFC it's a lot more
wide open than the AFC right now, lots of three
and three.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Teams, so it'll be a mess. Yeah, it's going to
be interesting to see how it plays out. I saw
a meme the other day, this guy just looking around
and these like crunching numbers, and it's like me, after
six weeks of the NFL season, trying to figure out
who the good teams are.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
And I think that's how all of us feel in
the NFL. But that's exactly what you want.

Speaker 5 (30:10):
If you're at the NFL for parity.

Speaker 4 (30:12):
You want parody.

Speaker 6 (30:13):
And that's a great thing to have because right now
there's no front runner unless you talk about Tampa Bayway
Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Baby, this has been Broncos Country A night. I've been
your host, Grant Smith, Guy Zach Seekers in the big
chair tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
Nick, thanks as always.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
Man appreciation.
