Speaker 1 (00:00):
Five six six nine zero is the text line. Our
Stapleton got to.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Join us a bottom the hour, we get a chance
to talk about delusional fan bases.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
I know we're looking forward to that delusion fans.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
He saw Nick Bonito's tweet last night? Did the deleted
I did not? Oh what all this quid?
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Nick?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
You gotta be more online, dude, You got less present
in your family and more online, all right, you gotta
be more involved in the petty squabbles of these two
fan bases who suddenly have a rivalry. Who knew the
Giants and Broncos we're gonna suddenly have a rivalry.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
So if I missed it, you did. You missed it,
But you're gonna remind me of what I missed. I'll
remind you.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Of it right now.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
So we all saw the Jonathan Cooper clips that everybody
got upset about when he was like bringing Jackson guards
and talking like talking about it.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Who got upset about that? Giants fans and media. I mean, okay,
let's be totally honest. Did say anything that was everywhere?
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I know he didn't, And he also didn't like it
wasn't even a dig at him.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
He was like, yeah, he's feeling himself little. He's dancing
with the chain we had. You know, we see something
like that before.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Though.
Speaker 5 (00:59):
He said.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
What he's saying is John's got some sizzle. We're gonna
see if they.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Have any steak on Sunday. Exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
That's Coop. You know, he's not doing bullet It's Jonathan Cooper.
He's not to dood bulletin board material.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Right Anyway, the New York media being one of it
is you've been a part of that before, You've seen.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
That what they do, right?
Speaker 5 (01:14):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:14):
And so anyway, so Nick Benito finally got fed up
with his boys, John Cooper getting dragged to the mud
and tweeted out last night delusional fan base, world's most
delusional fan base.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Want to be totally honest. Was he wrong?
Speaker 1 (01:32):
George Costanza? Was Was that wrong? Was I not supposed
to do? Anyway?
Speaker 2 (01:36):
He deleted the tweet, which he should have done. You
gotta stand if you do that, he gotta stand ten
toast down right, right. So some girl DMed him and
he's some random girl.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
That he follows, and I think we can all understand why.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Okay, she's fine, it's a grand mottel.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
So DM did or whatever, and he's like, uh, he
said something about.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
I'm trying to remember what it was. Oh, he said, uh,
is this individual Instagram model? Is she from New York?
Speaker 1 (02:09):
I don't know she's on Twitter. I have to I
can dig and I can find anyway, he said. She
said something to that.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
He said something back like uh, and I can't remember
exactly what it was that.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
He said, but anyway, the gist of it was that, uh.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yeah, I don't know because she's like, we could see
you deleted it or something, and he's like, you know whatever,
but bta on on on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yes, so beat that or belt to however?
Speaker 3 (02:28):
You know, sink.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Everybody knows what the A word is there. I don't
know if I'm allowed to say. I don't I remember
what I'm allowed to say. What I'm not great. It
has to constantly remind me.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Well, well, if you think that you're not supposed to
say it, then don't say it.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Well yeah, so beat that donkey or belt to donkey whatever,
you know what I guess. Anyway, So then she posted
the DM out there and it's just been it's been
melting down ever since.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
And so then you had people over on.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
W f an your favorite radio station of all time
there in New York, get on the air, and this
guy Sean Mora, Shoot, he is like one of the
worst radio people of all time. This guy is so
wrong about everything. He makes me look like the most.
He makes me look like Nostra Damas. Oh wow, he
must be really bad.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Like yeah, because you're wrong a lot, just all the time,
right Cory's Market.
Speaker 6 (03:17):
Anyway, Yeah, Sean Morash was the guy who said there
was no way Teddy Bridgewater and a beat up pass
Rush was gonna beat us back in like twenty one
or whatever, and it was his whole chest.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
And then the Broncos quote tweeted.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
It after the victory was like not good to beat
us and you know, all caps whatever.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
I loved it. Trolling an NFL now.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
So anyway, as we all.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Know, my favorite rock and roll singer, Tom Petty, my
favorite race car driver Kyle and Richard Petty, my favorite Baylor.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Quarterback of all time, Rice Petty. I'm a fan of
all the Petties. Loves Edico Junction the way, you know. Yeah,
my favorite kind of coat. There you go, good pull,
that's a well done. Nick Ferguson you won't. I take
back what I said earlier about to staying with your.
Speaker 7 (04:02):
Family and you know, being more terminally online anyway, So
the Peagans has spiraled out of control, and now you
have two fan bases at each other's throats for no
reason apparently, and we've got the Creatine Cowboys coming to
UH to Denver on Sunday. Oh no, I love it.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Because it's going to make for one hell of a
game on Sunday, because now all the talk is done,
it's about action.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
And then Broncos Country they're gonna raise up.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
I mean, first of all, Broncos Petie Pablo, Now.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yes, they're gonna raise up. Okay, it was Pete Pablo
with a concert. Didn't know who he was the entire time.
And there's like kay were rated like red Rocks or something.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Red Hot Pile Peppers, Adam Powerfield at Mile High.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
And Petie Pablo gave his wife a poncho to keep
her out of the rain, like raised up, took it
off his head, spuntled like a helicopter.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Get he still didn't know who us.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
And I loved p. D. Pablo growing up, but.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I did not expect him to be at a Red
Hot Chili Peppers concert.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Give me a pacha to his wife.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
That's why he never did a book by It's like
you Nick, Yes, not your average black guy. There you go.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
I think I'm gonna put that on his shirt.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
I think when he was talking to to your you know, fiance,
and he was you know, and she.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Ripped her shirt off, said freakly twisted it around her head,
you know, freak.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Not frequently like three people to get that reference. So
they're all in this room.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
It is Friday, So can we Friday?
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Yes, Friday frequently. Well, we do have let.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
From from the he's gonna join us bottom of the
Hour or it's a great guy by the way, from
the New York Media. He's he's one of the level
headed guys. So uh, it's good to have him on.
We have him on bottom of the Hour. We got
we got a ton of stuff to get to. Back
to a second, Brothers cut Sam Ailinger today.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
You know what that means? What does that mean? Okay,
wait a minute, okay, okay.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
I applaud that, But I feel as though there should
be a significant approach to this green law strategy.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
It's called it the green law laws meaning as.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
Though they the Broncos need to pick and choose when
to deploy.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
He's going to be right, yes, okay.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Because we need him long term because we haven't seen him. Right,
It's like a blue moon baba who Snowman, we haven't
seen him in a while. Now he's going to show
up on Sunday and guess what it's going to be
him versus Bain from from by the Way, New York
(06:41):
City when Ruben Bain does get in the league next year.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Like we're all just.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
But that's gonna be a great matchup to see Drake
Greenlaw run up against cam'sctible.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Yes, sign me up for that one? Is that.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
At Waterko all over again? No?
Speaker 3 (07:05):
No, we can try to build it as that, but
neither of the.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Players have that cachet yet, right, But they could, I
mean they could now. Could they make it that way
before we get to the end of the game. Yes,
but once again, sign me up for it?
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yeah? I I all week.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
I was kind of struggling with this one all week.
I was, man, Broncos is gonna struggle with this Giants
team that get the defense at front seven. This is
gonna blow them out.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
I'm going about the floor.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
With these clowns if they's gonna be going for New
York for you know, for New York football teams this year.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Like, I'm so on the other side of that. I'm
so dry, blanket, allbright right now.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
It's not even fun.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
I'm sorry, I'm not even sure that's even possible for
your blanket to be dry dry No, no, no, no.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
I don't even think you're blanket. If if it were
in it's a hero. You see how h in here
right now? It gets it right out just being in here.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
It would still be way because I mean that that's
just who you are. But let's go back just a second,
because you said you were struggling with this all week,
about the fact that the Broncos win this and not
on the defense or offense.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
It's kind of based on the Giants defense.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
They're front seven against our offense because we've got the
left guard problem. They got one practice of Calvin Throck morning,
They're like, no, palace palceskiin is it is?
Speaker 1 (08:26):
And so you know, I'm like what they got?
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Dexter Lawrence.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Dexter Lawrence is probably the best nose tackle in the game,
maybe the best incurior defensive lineman.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Not laying Elie Collins in the game right now.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Don't forget Cavon Tibodeau.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Well, I'm not even getting the guys.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
I got.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Brian burn, they got at Dull Carter, I'm not even
Gideon as I'm just I'm talking just about Dexter Lawrence here.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
And we got we got a new left guard, our
third left guard in a week and a half.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
But with that being said, there is a way.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
There is a way.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Then, I've thought about this and and I looked at
the Giants pass rush over the past couple of games,
what they did to the Charges, what they're able to
do to the Philadelphia Eagles who defeated the different Broncos.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
There is a path forward. Are you ready for this?
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Benach? Okay, I know we're doing church on Friday.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Hold on, let me stay right here we go.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, what the Broncos is gonna do
on Sunday? Yes, all they need to do is get
the ball out of bow knicks hands.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
They want you get the ball out of bowl Nick's hands.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
We're talking about quick passes to the right and to
the left, and then once you do that, you're able
to go deep down the field if you don't need
to work on the quick passes, but you need to
make sure that you are able to run the ball,
run the ball consistently. Those boys are coming and sid
(10:01):
edge for the New York Giants.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
I love the message. I was here for the message.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
I missed my tea time because I stayed later church
just for the message. As we're on this theme right now, now,
how much faith do you have a Sean Payton to
stick with the run and do that.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Well, he's not gonna have a chance.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Well, Ben, he's not gonna have a choice.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Because when you when you once again when you look
at this Giants defense, they've done a great job of
building out this.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Unit, and that unit is relentless.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
And when you look at the Broncos edge and you
go back to the game in London, what was the
biggest issue for.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
The Broncos offensive lineman up front?
Speaker 4 (10:42):
They were actually giving too much ground, allowing too much
penetration and allowing the Jets defense to play on their
side of the ball. That's why we saw bo evading
a lot of would be sacks. And thank god the
dude is mobile, because if not, I mean the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Lose that game.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Yeah, well, now you've got a.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Heftier defensive line you're up against. I mean, the foe
man in front for the for the Jets is also
a little undersize.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Now you've got Dexter Lawrence.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
You know we already missed it.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yes, you get the two hyphen guys on either side
of Dexter, Lauris Roche and Roy Robertson Harris. Yes, they
got some big bodies out there. They got a big
This is probably the biggest defensive lines of the title.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
But this is what you do is I'm not saying
that you run away from their strength, but you have
to be really strategic. This is where the outside running game,
the zone stretch game. Because Alex Gibbs, former diver Broncos
offensive line guru, did spend some time down there with
Sean Payton down in New Orleans, so he taught him
(11:42):
a finger too. Right now, I'm not sure if Zach
I don't think Zach Street was there the entire time
Alex Gibbs was there.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
But you know, the outside zone stretch game. Get the
guy to run.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Outside because that's a more favorable advantage to the office.
And then you know what you have off the outside stretch,
you have to keep back.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
You want to see it, don't I'm just saying, I
know what the formula is. I've seen the formula. We
all know the formula.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
So give me then over under on that. Then do
you think that maybe.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Now we're gonna reburn an outside z own maybe once
the entire game the under.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
No, don't tell me that.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
You think.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
When's the last time you saw a stretch play of
this offense.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
I haven't seen many of them, Huh.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
I've seen the Broncos try to manipulate the stretch play
with an ender round with Marvin Mint. Yes, that's that's
kind of there. That's not a gadget agent, that's that gadget.
Just run the ball, like, let the receivers receive. Let
the back the receivers receiver streets.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
Is why I always needed the wildcat right, because like
you're taking the ball out of a playmaker's hands, you
take the ball out of the best guy to throw
his hands, and then trying to pretend like you're going
to have a throwing element.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Unless you put the ball in the hands of r. J.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
Harvey used to play quarterback back and play quarterback and
in college.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
See that's the evolution of the game. Now you can't
go to that like five plays in a row player too,
you could do that. You give you give one look at.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
It on a third down on you know, and the
quarterback gives, Harvey gives on the jet and then the
next time up when they get you catch a defense
lean and then you get that backside wheel. You throw
the ball, you know, you throw the ball off that
and hope you get.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
One on one on the backside.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Now there's a play that the Broncos ran against Philadelphia
that it wasn't successful because uh bow put a load
some more's air on it. I rather him put more
air than under throw the ball. But it was a
leak play. But what they did it was with Tris Sheffield. Yeah,
why it wasn't Wiley, but it was like slot leak
(13:42):
or whatever.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Yeah, it was. It's like a three point one formation.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
It wasn't called freak.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
No, there wasn't.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
I award one pd Pablo and may God have mercy
on your soul.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Who was to say.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
That Sam Payton doesn't or wouldn't have a call called frequently.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
He needs it exactly.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
You need a whole stadium to turn up with towels.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
We have no allegiance to North Carolina whatsoever, but we
all need to raise up.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
But I employ if we want to keep your shirts
on at the game.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
But you shirts keep your shirts, So I say take
them on the bubbles. There the shirts coming off.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
I'll no, no, you're gonna get to see this ice
cream tub.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Goodness, Oh my eyes, my eyes.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Nick's got a six pack. I got the whole keg.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Well, do you know what? But once again, these this
is the evolution of this office.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
We're going into week seven, right, we're halfway through the season.
Why haven't we seen more of the evolution in this offense?
Speaker 2 (14:39):
You tell me, Ben, that is the guy. I mean,
that's the question I've been asking. I don't know what
to tell you, because that's a question we've been asking.
The offense doesn't have an identity. It does seem to
have taken a step backwards. Specifically in that London game
where it felt like we turtled quite a bit, we didn't.
We went back to the things that were working. We
got more static with the formations. We're using gadgety stuff
to run the ball. We're not we're shuffling the backs
(14:59):
and the and the person groupings in and out. We're
not playing with tempo, whereas the previous two weeks when
the offensive took off, we.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Had been doing those things.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
So what do you say to those individuals who, in
this slow type of season for the Denver Broncos offensively,
who say, well, this is a knock on bow Nix
in a so called sophomore slamp?
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Is there any truth to that?
Speaker 2 (15:19):
I don't think that BA has regressed per se. I
would say that it's more, you know, people have caught
up to what we're doing a little bit. You know,
you got a full year of tape on the marriage
between Sean Payton and bow Nicks. You got a little
bit of stuff to study now, and they've kind of
figured out what he does and what he doesn't do well, and.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
They try to force him into what he doesn't do well.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
All right, So I have a question someone sent me
and they want.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Us to discuss this. Okay, all right? Should Sean Payton
not my question, it's theirs.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
Is it time for Sean Payton to relinquish the play
calling duties to someone else?
Speaker 2 (15:53):
I mean, look, we've been over this a million times.
Sean Pete's not going to do it. He's the head
coach of the Denver Broncos. He's always a play. He's
gonna call plays. That's just saying he loves doing it.
There's no way that dude gives it up, should he.
I mean, if it were me at this point, what
I would do. We would script something right, and then
I would probably have my OC run the rest of
the you know, run the rest of the first half,
(16:14):
and then the second half would be me or vice versa,
just because there's.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
No way for.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
You know, there's no way for people to key in
on tendencies if you've got two different guys call in
the game.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
So basically, what you're gonna do, you're gonna take somewhat
of a Star Wars approach.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Right, like a rebel alliance when we're no Like we
all know that George Millenium Falconcer the origin of Star Wars, right,
but the Empire strikes back, which everyone loves.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
George Lucas didn't direct that one, right, So there's someone
else and that type of manner provide a different type
of spin or look.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
On the office. I mean, I'm here for it, but
I mean we're not. We're not gonna see it. I mean,
I just I know enough to know what Sean Payton
isn't gonna do. And you know, maybe he does, Maybe
he does need something like that to shake him out
of I think he just gets in his own bag
too much. I think he gets he gets in his
own head, and he gets he gets down a rabbit
hole and this stuff too much, and he needs somebody
to shake him out of it. And it's happened before,
(17:08):
like when Jim Fossil fired him as the play caller
for the Giants, or when he got to play calling
duties revoked. You know what he was doing that temporarily
in Dallas. He got those things, you know, he got
stuff revokes.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:18):
But but okay, in no situations, Sean Payton wasn't in.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
A position of power. He was more of a subordinate.
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Now, He's not going to fire himself, but he might
need somebody to sit there and take Is there.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
Anyone in the building that could even make that suggestion.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
I don't know, but I know you've got two guys
who have.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Definitely called plays before and.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Another guy who everybody wants.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
To see Joe Lombardi's called plays and for multiple teams.
Pete Carmichael's called plays before.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
What about Davids Webb who called plays?
Speaker 2 (17:47):
That's what everybody wants to see the preseas, that's so
what everybody wants to see.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Well, then David's web call the preseason game against Arizona car.
I mean, I know it's preseason, but right now, yeah,
and in that game, if I'm not mistaken, Evan Ingram
was involved a little more.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Well, everyone was Davis Webb's teammate back when they were
at work together, so you know, I mean that was
one of those things like, yeah, man, I got you. Hey,
well boys, I got you. Look, I agree, I'm with
you all on that. I totally agree that there needs
to be something to shake it up a little because
spamming the same screenplay over and over and then getting
the occasional touchdown on the fake de Nate Adkins on
(18:21):
that cool, But what are we doing? We don't need
to be There should not be any scenario in which
we are in a game losing to a Justin Fields
helmed Jets team that has negative net passing yards.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Very true, and I know how strongly you feel about
one justin fields, but you are absolutely accurate in your assessment.
There was more layers to this offense. Then I believe
that we've seen. Why haven't we seen, you know, more
production out of certain guys. I mean, we could sit here,
(19:00):
But it goes back to the signal caller. How he's
trying to set those guys up. Why he's trying to
set those guys up, looking at down in distance and
looking at the defense that you're facing, and how to
best put your players in advertangeous positions.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
That's the job of a coach.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Put your players in the best position possible for them
to go out execute the plan and you know, give
them the best percentages.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
That's that's your job. So yeah, I'm with you on that.
We got Art Stapleton when we come back.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Also, you chance to win a pair of tickets to
Broncos Giants this Sunday.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Stay tuned, it'll be next right here on Broncos Country Night.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Scyler Cammick couns through a hotline though and bring out
my dude, Art Stapleton.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Art, How you doing, buddy?
Speaker 5 (19:44):
What's up palace?
Speaker 3 (19:45):
How you doing doing pretty well?
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Zach Seeker's delusional that that Russell Wilson's gonna get in
this game and score six touches.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
He's not really saying that.
Speaker 5 (19:53):
Everybody's little delusional nowadays. Isn't that for proof?
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Huh?
Speaker 2 (19:57):
This thing is Guy's funny because you know, there's not
really I don't think there's not really a Giants Broncos rivalry,
but all of a sudden, if social media were to believed,
we're the new Outboys Giants in terms of being at
each other's throats.
Speaker 5 (20:12):
Oh. You know what, nobody knows better than you that
there's a different world on social media that some of
us live in, and some of us just think it's fantasy.
So look the way this thing played out. I mean,
it's pretty crazy. And you know, it's such a big weekend,
emotional weekend as you and I talked on my podcast
yesterday about everything that's happening in Denver this weekend with
(20:35):
the Broncos and all the alumni and obviously for DT
and the emotions involved, and the Giants feel like they're
set up for a little homecoming opponent a little bit,
I think, and I think there's a little edge coming
out of the Philly game for the Giants, so let's go.
Let's rock. I mean Giants. Giants have not had this
(20:56):
for a long long time where they feel like they
could actually stand up for themselves. So it's a little
refreshing to cover a team that isn't afraid to kind
of stand up and speak up for themselves.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
Or when we look at this game.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
Is it okay to look at this game and say, well,
this is a game where we're comparing bon Knicks to
Jackson Dark.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Is that a fair assessment if you.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
Were to look at it that way, I'm sure people will.
I mean, I think that ultimately could be where the
game is won for whatever team comes out on top
this weekend. It is the idea that you know, it's
b Nicks versus the Giants defense, Jackson Dart against the
Broncos defense. Now, you probably give the Broncos defense an
(21:40):
edge on Jackson Dart just because, look, you know, Bo
led a team to the playoffs last year, so you
got to give him that credit. But in terms of
where the Broncos offense has been, even the Giants as
inconsistent that they've been, they've been better than what the
Broncos have been. So I think, you know, I think
the game really will be won based on what Bo
(22:01):
Knicks and the Broncos offense can do against this Giants defense.
And if the Giants that showed up against Silly show
up on Sunday, I think they'll have a pretty good
chance at staying in this game and really pulling off
an upset. So yeah, I mean, I think maybe it's
not that simple as Knicks versus Dart, but I think
(22:22):
perception wise, there's certainly going to be a situation where
whichever quarterback outplays the other will likely be the quarterback
that wins on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yeah, we're talking with Art Stable, and that is the thing,
and I think that is the key. I think, I
really do believe it's the Broncos offense against the Giants defense,
because you know, you guys do have some.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Players specifically in that front seven.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
I mean, you got three guys that could come off
the edge, maybe the best defensive tackle in the NFL
right now and Dexter Lawrence. As we look at this thing,
my question then becomes, how did this defense give up
what it did to the Saints and the Cowboys, what
it was able to be as effective as it.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Was against teams like the Chargers and Eagles.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
It's a great question, right. I mean, I think that's
I think they've tried to find themselves a little bit
this season, and I think they've had their ups and downs.
I think, you know, they've gotten to a point where
you have a rookie and Abdual Carter, as talented as
he is, They've tried to figure out ways to have
Brian Burns, Cavon Thibodeau, and Carter Roll on the field
(23:23):
at the same time. I think what you saw against
Philly is that they're really learning how to use games
and stunts up front, and Carter and Burns has terrorized
the left side of the Eagles line, especially with no
Land and Dickerson out there, and I think, you know,
they take a little bit more confident on the back end,
(23:44):
and I think that's that's the key. I mean, you know,
Patrick Mahomes played against them, and you know, he basically
knew he could attack the secondary anytime he wanted, and
he took shots down field. You know, Specer Rattler hit
an eighty nine yard touchdown against the Giants secondary to
Rashid Shaned, and everybody knew that Shaheed was fast. I
(24:05):
mean that's pretty much what he has and the Giants
gave up that big play. But the Saints game was
really really a weird game because you're talking about five
turnovers on five straight possessions and they really weren't even
forced turnovers, you know. And Nick, you know Ben, you
guys know you always hear that, oh, well, you know,
we beat ourselves. I mean, the Giants literally put a
(24:28):
book together as to how they beat themselves in New Orleans.
And I think the defense in Dallas and we two
really hadn't found itself yet. So look and Dak Prescott,
Let's be honest, Dak Prescott's scoring on anybody in this
league right now. That offense, no matter who they have
on the field, they had Ceedee Lamb that day for
(24:49):
the Giants game and it was just a wild back
and forth affair in Dallas. So I think the defense
feels like it found something against Philly, and it'll be
interesting if they can put that together against this Denver offense.
And I think, you know, it's probably fighting a little
bit too, fighting itself as to what they are and
how you know, how the lack of production really has
(25:13):
defined what they've been able to do on that side
of the ball.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Well, scoring points.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
Are going to be at a premium here against either defense.
But as far as the Giants are concerned, what do
they generating that offense from? And the reason I asked
that question because in thirty four to seventeen victory over
Philadelphia on Thursday Night Football, we saw both Jackson Dark
and Cam Scattabo both out rushed Kae Kwon Barkley and
(25:37):
with Darius slay I think he is questionable a doubtful
for the game on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Where does that offense come from? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (25:46):
I think the Giants have probably spent the last you know,
ten days asking themselves that, yes, Slayton, I don't think
he's going to play. He's got full I don't think
he's playing with that hamstring or your speed guy on
the outside. You know you're gonna have to be at
one hundred percent to be able to go out and
test that hamstring. I think they're gonna run the football.
I think they're going to try to run the football
(26:07):
with Skataboo. But also a guy to watch out for
this weekend is Tyrone Tracy. He came back for the
Eagles game. He was out for two games. With a
separated shoulder, a separated shoulder against the Chiefs, and Tracy
was really number one in the backfield and Scataboo took
over and obviously is you know now this media borrowing
(26:29):
and a phenomenon in the league. With five touchdowns and
we've seen everything that's gone with him, I wouldn't be
surprised if you see a little bit more from Tyrone Tracy.
I think he was on a little bit of a
pitch count against the Eagles. So the Giants are just
going to look and try to mix and mask and
try to do what they did against Philly. You know
a guy that Denver knows well, l J. Humphrey, Will
(26:50):
Jordans Will you know, came up from the practice squad
last week. He had a good connection with Dart in
the summer and actually, you know, played well against the Eagles.
So I think they'll get elevated again. But I think
it's really going to be about, you know, what can
they do to try to find some mismatches and that's
not going to be easy against this Denver defense, but
(27:13):
that's what they are right now. So I think if
they unleash Dart and try to make them a vertical
passer in the in the pocket. I think that's where
they may run into trouble. But I just don't know
how else they're going to score against this Denver defense.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Tie with our stable to our last one from me
talking to me about the kicking situation there, you got
what's his name ecadimony there, but you signed your way
ku on the practice squad as well as what is
their faith in the main place kicker there?
Speaker 5 (27:48):
You know, I thought about that too, Bena. Just the
idea of do they go to Coo this weekend? And
one of the things that really we really haven't talked
about with the Giants. Graham know only he had a
groin injury, so they knew he was going to be out.
They put him on the IR. I talked to Denot
in the locker room this week and he's feeling pretty good.
(28:08):
So I wonder, since they signed Mcatamney to the fifty
three last week, did they just ride it out one
more game with Mcatamney and say, you know what, we
can activate can know next week and have him back
as our kicker. Maybe cou you know, I asked Abel
this the beginning of the week, is it's so competition
between who and mcatamney because they kept talking about how
(28:32):
it was. But I think they'll go with the young
guy this weekend. And it look, you can't feel one
hundred percent confident in what he's done. He missed an
extra point last week. That's certainly in a close game.
You certain you don't want to see that. But you know,
if the Giants are in a situation where their kicking
game is mattering on Sunday, I think they'll be happy.
(28:54):
They'll probably have gotten something else out of this offense.
Maybe they get something on defense to be able to
score and keep up with this Broncos team.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
All right, light, I got to ask you this question,
and we all saw Jackson Dart go into the blue
tant last Thursday against Philly.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Do you have any concern with.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
Dart running around that the potential for him to get
injured and knowing is how physical the Broncos pass rush is.
Speaker 5 (29:25):
Yeah, I mean I think absolutely. You know, he you know, scatted,
maybe maybe uh run into a brick wall, but Dart
is not far behind. I mean, I think, you know,
he's got to be a little smarter, He's got to
pick his spots. But sure, now, It's kind of funny
because you know, guys, you guys probably watched the Chiefs
(29:45):
game the other night at Chiefs and the Lions, and
you know, Travis Kelsey basically does a pogo stick bouncing
on his head and his helmet and there's no concussion check.
And yet Jackson Dart it seems like as soon as
he goes down, he's basically there's kind of like that
target on his back. The spot knows that as soon
as number six in blue or white for the Giants
(30:09):
gets down on the ground, it's, uh, he's got to
go to the blue tenant. We got to check him out.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
So he's got to live with that right now, and
he's got to be smarter and know that. You know,
especially in a week like this, you know, for all
the talking back and forth, all it takes is one
player to say, you know what, I'm gonna shut this
kid up and I'm gonna I don't like what I
saw from Dart and Scataboo, you know, taking Scatabooy taking
his shirt off, and they you know, they're mark men
(30:33):
right now in the league, I think there are a
lot of guys who who don't like the younger players
kind of stepping out into the spotlight a little bit,
and because it was a standalone game, and you know,
a lot of the country saw, and that's kind of
what's become the image of what the Giants are right now.
And I think, you know, they have to be smarter
than that, because they cannot afford, as you guys said
(30:56):
in the open when you brought me on, they cannot
afford to have Russell Wilson take that field on Sunday
and expect to truly compete against his defense from start
to finish in this game. So yeah, I mean to
answer your question that there's no question that he asked
to be smarter and can't put himself in situations that
he's going to be taken off the field and heading
(31:17):
into that blutete. And then you know, obviously all the
narrative from that Thursday night game comes all the way
back and who's around the ten, who's watching every time
the concussion protocol got caught got brought up this week
with regard to the Giants starting center who likely will
not play as John Michael Smith's Brian Able could not
(31:38):
run any further from answering those questions about the concussion
protocol and basically said, you know, he said cussin Burdol.
I won't discuss it and we'll just see what the
doctor said afterwards. And that's pretty much it. So this
is something that's going to follow the Giants with those players,
but also because of what happened on the sideline in
prime time with everyone to see when.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
You can find him on Twitter at art Underscore Stapleton
with the USA Today Art look forward to us and
you get into town man, hit me up.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
We'll get some dinner.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
Brother, sound's good man, I'll bring my three D glasses.
We'll be allsop.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
Sounds like a plan five six six nine zeros text
like guys.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
You want to win a pair of tickets to the
Broncos Giants this Sunday and Empower Field at Mile High
from the official home.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
Of the Broncos KOA e color five right now three.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
All three seven one three eighty five eighty five three
oh three seven one three eighty five eighty five color
five right now. Free pair of tickets to the Broncos
and Giants this Sunday at EM power Field at Mile
High Kercy of.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
The official home of the Broncos K wa.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
I want to get into.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
There's a bunch of this stuff I want to get
into on this game. Art Stapleton bring the heat right there.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
But he's you know, I mean, this thing is turned
into an explosion of petty on social media.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
But you look at this and you're like, well, I
don't understand. I mean, I guess I get why the
Giants are puffing their chest out.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
They got a new.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
Spark, a new energy with the young quarterback. We did
that a little bit last year with the Bownicks thing.
But I don't know if there's anything to sit there
and crow about. I mean, you got dumped by the
by the New Orleans Saints two weeks.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Ago, Like sumped. Look like the breaks beating off you,
Like I'm not even.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Close, you know what.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
But once again, this is New York City that you're
talking about, and they seem to have a little more
colored to their peacock feathers. And that is doing part
because they got two rookies that has really flipped that organization.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
On his head and that fan base.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
At the beginning of the season, where the Giants did
not have any hope at all, now they seem to
have some kind of life some kind of hope. Even
though they lost to the Saints, they still feel as oh, hey,
they follow that up with the win a convincing wing
at that on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, and
(33:55):
those two players Jackson dark Cam's Gottabo for whatever you
say about him or don't like about him, those two
guys showed up.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
They bring a different and new energy to what it
is that that the Giants do. I mean, they certainly
do that, But I think Coop is right, you know,
when he was talking to he said, yeah, they like
to you know, they feel themselves a dancer. It's all
sizzle at this point. Is there any stake behind it?
And yeah, they beat the Eagles on a short week, okay,
and they beat the Chargers. Okay, all right, I'm not
bad at it. There's You've got me paying attention, but
(34:26):
I'm not going to be afraid of it, like I'm
not coming in here.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
You know. You know that.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
No, you know, I mean, you're a team that scored
less than the Broncos has all year.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
So you got my attention. Yeah, so you see.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
What's the scene from my entry? Well, what's the scene
from Django? You know, I've had my curiosity. Now you
have my attention exactly, you know, I mean, I mean,
that's where we're at. I'm not I'm not sitting here
quaking about the New York Giants, the team I think
everybody picked the finish last in that division.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
They're two and four.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
There's only one team in the entire NFC with the
worst record.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Than them, and it's the team that beat them for
their only win, the New Orleans Saints.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
Well here's what the Giants are looking at. They're treating
it like maybe college football. It's an opportunity to be
a ranked team.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
And then if you.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
Come in on Alumni Day, the day that Demerius is
going into the Ring of Fame, you know, the night
before the game, Brian Dabe was gonna tell his team that,
and they gotta be gassed up in charge to make
sure that the Broncos walk away on Sunday disappointed.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
We'll get into more than that, plus the NFL pick,
and we come back Broncos Country like
