Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're going to head right out to the KWA Common

(00:01):
Spirit Health Hotline and bring on Brie Mastis, host of
Let's Talk Broncos and Believe in the Broncos Pods.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Brie, how are you tonight?

Speaker 3 (00:10):
I'm doing great. I finally have my voice back. I
am so thrilled to be on with the both of you,
especially following that crazy win over the Giants. And yeah,
some Thursday night football to cap off the evening. Couldn't
get any better.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Hard to beat this time of year. We've got the
NBA back in action. Of course, college football in full swing.
I'll ask you about both of those coming up here
in just a little bit, but yeah, give me your
thoughts on that crazy Broncos win. I mean, I was
back here working the game and it was feeling pretty
hopeless through those first three quarters and then the most
magical comeback in Broncos history.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
How'd you feel about the game?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
I'm glad that you prefaced it as such because it
was remarkable. It was truly a historic win for this
Broncos team. You can't talk about the win without talking
about the first three quarters, which were abysmal. You're down
nearly twenty points, entering the fourth quarter, and they went
on to score thirty three. And we could talk about
all the magic and the majesty that goes into a

(01:07):
lot of the miracles that happened throughout that game, but
you have to start with how rough it was. And
at one point my seat mate wanted to you know,
it was the question came out the notorious do you
think we should leave? And of course not, right Like,
you've gone this far, You've seen worse iterations of football.
Why not sit through it and see what happens? How

(01:27):
bad could it get? And honestly, what an ending. I
truly feel bad, almost miserable for those who ended up
leaving as they streamed out of the stands, because that
was one for not only the record books, but it
is truly burned into my memory.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
So breathe with all of that said, and I love
how you set that up. Your seat mate wanted to leave.
But what was the most frustrating thing for you in
those first three quarters watching the Broncos offense out there
on the field.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Well, I think we learned a few things from that
because of the way they overcame the adversity. But at
the end of the day, I think there's a lot
of areas of concern for this team. Ultimately, they seem
to have the pieces, they seem to be able to
swing the game in their favor. Sitting at five and two,
I mean, it's not something that goes about an ability

(02:22):
to finish games, but we've seen some close ones and
deciding games in these small margins means that you have
to start quicker. We heard Sean Payton to start this
season exclaim that no more slow starts. Well, if you
continuously slow start each game, the offensive sluggish, they end
up getting exposed for it. And then if you have

(02:43):
no production through the first half and in this case
through the first three quarters, you honestly start calling for change.
You start looking for who to point blame to. You've
got a myriad of issues with penalties and discipline because
the Broncos rank pretty poorly when it comes to the
numbers of penalties, in the number of penalty yards. Ultimately,
that's going to creep into the margin of games. And

(03:04):
I know Peyton continues to hammer the points that they
have to be more efficient, but they have to be
more disciplined, both on coaching and within execution. And I
think that as we see this relatively healthy team be
able to kind of meander through the slow parts of
their game. I don't think you can consistently be a
fourth quarter team. And I know it's kind of weird

(03:26):
as we come to this nostalgic Week eight matchup against
the Cowboys in the throwback jerseys and we start talking
about fourth quarter comebacks, it really instills this idea that
this team needs to be more consistent. I don't think
they're a team right now that can dominate sixty plus minutes.
I think they have to rely on spurts and they
have to hope that their opponent falters. That to me,

(03:47):
is not a long term formula to success. So ultimately
you have to start building on controlling the game from
start to finish. And I think that this is a
week that you have to make it happen against such
an opponent as Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Remakes us our guests on Broncos Country Tonight five six
six nine zero. The text line, and we've got a
text in here for you, Bree from Profit. Oh, please
remind Brie to always keep the faith in all caps?

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Is there a backstory to this text?

Speaker 4 (04:17):
You know?

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Profit in myself. We go way back. We've known each other.
I think it's going on six years now, and he
may or may not be alluding to the fact that
I can sometimes be a little pessimistic when it comes
to you know, slow starts. Right now, as we're entering
in kind of a fun wind streak, I don't think
I'm necessarily leaning in the face of nonface. But profit

(04:39):
of all people is the is the guy to stand
there with his tablet of commandments here for this Broncos
Country organization and all the fandom that exists, like, yeah,
you have to keep the faith ultimately, although I did
stay to see how bad it could get and it
ends up working in my favor. But at the end
of the day, I think there is this op oportunity

(05:00):
to really buy into this team. It shows that the
players and the coaching staff they had that ability to
take this downturn momentum, capitalize on a justin strand interception,
and ultimately rally to the final minutes, which is something
we have not been able to see this team do.
How could you not have faith in the product that's
in front of you. Now the rest of it has

(05:22):
to get cleaned up. I don't know how much our
hearts and blood pressure and ultimate wellness can take this
stressful sort of first start of the season. But I
think if they're able to work that out, then you
can definitely keep the faith in this team. If they
continue to figure it out and the offense gets churning,
they have work to do. But always keep the faith.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
Always keep the faith. Breathe.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
That is exactly what we do here in Broncos Country.
And one thing that makes me faithful and fills my
heart is watching the Broncos defense after having a couple
of stumbles throughout the game, and when you look at
quarter to quarter, they didn't really give.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
Up a lot, but they all talied up towards the end.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
What have you liked about this Denver Bronco defense or
if anything, what would you suggest could be changed. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
I think with the defense doing as much heavy lifting
as they're doing, we can point to obviously a strong secondary,
We can point to the respectable pass rush. We can
point to the line being you know, in the trenches,
just being able to hold their own. But what we
are seeing is a combination of long drives and explosive

(06:31):
plays that are still really showing up but it's not
something you can wipe away entirely. But you can avoid
these chunk plays and you can finish drives, and it's
almost as if you're fighting another adversary out there too
when you start recalling a lot of those long plays
were consistently being upheld by penalties and flaggs, whether or

(06:55):
not they were I guess you could call into the DCI,
which obviously, when in reflection, was just so absurd. But
you shouldn't get to that point where that's a game
defining moment. And I think although your opponent may be
seeing a lot of help from late penalties, at the
end of the day, the defense cannot have all of

(07:16):
that pressure placed on them. They're obviously able to control
a lot of what they're seeing with depths. I mean,
you lose, you get Dray Grilan back, you lose him
for this game up coming with the Cowboys, and then
you get him back for Houston. They're going to have
to learn how to deal with the kind of lack
or the hole or however you want to place that.

(07:37):
So I feel like if we point the finger at
the defense, that would just be unjust simply because Nick,
I know you are a fan of what advance Joseph
does with what he's given, and that's going to be
a key to this game. They're going to have to
generate a ton of pressure what they're good at. They're
going to have to disrupt the offense and what Dak
Prescott is going to rely on because when he has

(07:58):
a clean pocket, he's basically playing like the MVP front
runner here, and I think that the ability to place
him under pressure and really throw him off his spot,
if you're able to disrupt that rhythm, I think that's
how it's going to capitalize moving forward. And it's a
good thing that that's what the Denver Broncos defense is

(08:18):
presently doing well and I hope to see more of
that because at the end of the day, it's going
to be the difference maker between winning and losing a
clutch game that has implications moving forward. It's crazy to
think that they can win out in this stretch towards
the Kansas City Chiefs game, but it could have implications
into playoff seating. So I hope they're able to rely
on it. But it cannot be just star power and

(08:41):
hoping that one individual makes a difference here. It's got
to be everybody kind of coming into place.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Bre maas us our guests on Broncos Country tonight. You
can hear on the Let's Talk Broncos and Believe in
the Broncos podcast Switching gears. Though I know you're a
big Buffs fan, are you keeping the faith in them?
After a big win a couple of weeks ago against
Iowa State, then a bye week, now taken.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
On Utah this weekend?

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Who just lost to BYU in the Holy War, and
we saw the Buffs play by you pretty tough earlier.
It looked like a game that they could have won.
How are you feeling about the Buffs taken on Utah
on Saturday?

Speaker 3 (09:16):
You know, the bus continue to be a little bit
of a roller coaster, but that seems straight in line
with what we're dealing with in Broncos Country. So yes,
you have to absolutely buy in to their model and
what they're trying to do moving forward. I'm glad they
were able to compete the way that they were, but
you've got some tough opponents upcoming. I'm glad that they
won the one against Iowa State, but Utah is a

(09:39):
good program, so there is some hope that with a
week off and a little bit of time to re
establish what the game plan is here as coach Priming,
you know, continues to deal with his own personal struggles,
that's showing up for the team continuously. That builds a
lot of faith in your program, in individuals who believe
in you, and I think that that's something that the

(09:59):
buff had to continue moving forward as they you know,
still compete for a chance at a bowl game, and
we knew this year was going to be about putting
the pieces together, about seeing what you have, and with
the transfer portal being what it is, I think that
you have that expectation of you never know what the
next season is going to look like. There is always
going to be fundamental turnover and that's always hard when

(10:21):
you're building a program. You lose a ton of seniors
this year, and I think it's about capitalizing on what
you're able to do best. They have some pretty strong
opponents here going through the end of the season, and
I think it's all about taking it game by game,
So we'll see on Saturday how they're able to match up.
It's another late kickoff, you know. I think they're starting

(10:43):
to like that national primetime slot and I'm hoping that
they're able to really dig into what they're able to
get out of their current star power, and that line
has been functioning so well. It's all about finding what
is the future, So I'm hoping that they're going to
lean on that, because if you don't start making that

(11:03):
claim now, you're losing a lot of opportunity to know
what you have moving into the future. Like this season
isn't over, but you also have to focus on what's
to come.

Speaker 5 (11:13):
Well, Brae.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
The football season may not be over, but the basketball
season is.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
In full swing.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
And tonight the Denver Nuggets head out west and play
the Golden State Warriors.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
So I don't know how excited you are. I am,
but tell me what are your.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Expectations for this Nugget team this year?

Speaker 3 (11:35):
You know, as a sports fan in general, it is
the best time of the year because everything is full force,
obviously the Colorado Avalanche, the Bus, the Broncos, and now
the Nuggets. And I think this is a significant opener
for their season. It's a statement game, and I think
it's pretty important as they go into a tough road
environment and I think they're competing against a very capable squad.

(12:00):
I'm worried because the Warriors have already had their home opener.
They've got a game under their belt, They've got rhythm.
The Nuggets may come out just a little bit rusty,
but that happens to start this season. I hope they've
avoid a slow start. It seems to be like the
buzzword of the night. So they've got to show some
serious aspirations here because they've made the roster improvements. They've

(12:22):
retained their stars, Christian Brown signing that extension and signaling
the confidence that they have with him as a core piece.
They've made the additions that they need to add, not
only height, but just pure athleticism and aggressiveness. And I
think with last year's shortcomings being exposed a little bit,

(12:42):
especially defensively and being able to finish series, they've made
their roster upgrades to give them the tools, and I
think this matchup is a good place to test it
and see if they have the sustained effort when it
comes to resting Jokic because Benjamin It's have continued to
plague them, and I think this is a really fun
matchup to be able to see just exactly what we
should be anticipating for this season. It's long, you know,

(13:06):
eighty plus games, and you're having to make a decision
as soon as you see them take the court. So
if it's a little bit of a slow start, have
a little bit of patience. Nuggets Nation. They have made
the decisions and the choices to strengthen this team and
make the most out of the time that they haven't
with Nicole Jokic, and I think they can. If they
can shake off the rest. There's a fun song with

(13:28):
those lyrics in it, they're going to be able to
build some really fun early season chemistry. So I have
high expectations for this squad and I'm very much so
looking forward to this game.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Brie maystis our guest on Broncos Country Tonight.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Brie always appreciate the time. Have a great rest of
your night.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Thank you so much, fellows. We'll talk to you again soon.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Breeze the best you can find her great work on
the Let's Talk Broncos and Believe in the Broncos podcast. Yeah, Nick,
real quick before we hit this break, what are your
thoughts on the Nuggets. I like breeze point about finding
those minutes to rest the joker early on in the year.
You get played a lot of minutes at the beginning
of the season last year, really a lot of minutes

(14:08):
all year. But the addition of Valentunas feels like their
one two punch is going to be awesome when they're
on the court together. But more importantly, Joker is going
to get some time on the bench to rest up
to be in full mode winning we get to the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
See, I'm interested in that one two punch that you
talk about. I think coz Ademan was trying to experiment
during the preseason because he's looking at what OKC did
during their run having their two bigs on the floor
and trying to see if Nicola and Valshchunis can be
on the floor at the same time that gives you height,
that gives you rim protection, or for me, it's an

(14:41):
opportunity to get out of those guys into foul trouble.
And when you look at the big men and the
depth on their bench, they don't really go that deep. Now,
what I will say is what I do like about
the Nuggets this year post a year's pass, they are
solid as far as the second unit is concerned. This
is where they're going to probably improve the most as
far as giving quality minutes to that first unit.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Yeah, I agree, long season ahead of us for the Nuggets,
but we are right in the middle of the Broncos season,
first place in the AFC West. We're going to get
back to previewing the Cowboys game this weekend, and Nick's
got some thoughts on the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
We're going to get to that all next on Broncos
Country to Night on KOA fifty ninety four one. Nick

(15:23):
looking ahead to this Cowboys game this weekend. This offense
for the Cowboys is about as high powered as you're
going to find in the league. But their defense, for
how good their offenses, is equally bad. How do you
attack this defense? If you're the Broncos offense.

Speaker 5 (15:40):
Temple, you have to speed things up.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Like I say, that's become a dirty word here. Let
certain people tell it. But I like the idea of
speeding up the decision making. And here's what that also means.

Speaker 5 (15:57):
That means when.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
It comes to play call, they have to come in fast,
and it's going to force the execution and the processing
from bow knicks to be fast. Now, I do remember
a time and correct me from wrong. When the Broncos
were evaluating bow Knicks as their long term holding spot

(16:19):
at the quarterback position after they moved away from one
Russell Wilson. The idea is that how well bol process
limited information so he shows you that he's not going
to overload right or spontaneously combust. But even with that
being said, why don't we just make life easier for everyone?

(16:39):
Why have so many plays? I don't understand it. It's
like I don't know about you. Have you ever gone
to a place and dined and they have this massive menu,
too many options, and get too many options. Figure out
what you do best and focus on that and perfect it.

(17:00):
And the reason I'm saying that is because man, I've
been around to the best who have ever done it,
Mike Shanahan and Kyle Shanahan.

Speaker 5 (17:09):
And ideas like, let's not overthink this. This is football.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
Understand the personnel that you have right now, you know
the strengths and weaknesses. Let's put plays and packages together
to feature each one of those guys. Like, to me,
it's a travesty not to have Quinn Minors pulling to
book racing some kind of young dB running up there
thinking that he's gonna stop him, Like, no, to.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Me, that's five yards right there, easy? Five yards.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Well, now you're dealing this, you're working a second and five,
and I'm thinking, like, if you're looking at your play sheet,
there's a multitude of plays that you can work with on.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
Second to five and second and six. Do you not
think that's case?

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Yeah, that's exactly the case.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
And how many times have we seen us throw the
ball on first down getting in completion, then we're in
second and ten, and then we decide to run the ball,
and then if you don't get anything on second and ten,
you're looking at a third and long and we know
the person on that you're not going to convert a
first down.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
And that's why we've seen so many three and outs at.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
The beginning of games, and why we've had to see
all these magical comebacks.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
And speaking of that, will be replaying the.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Fourth quarter of the Broncos thirty three point comeback win
against the Giants that coming up tomorrow night on Broncos
Country Tonight at six o'clock five six, six nine zero.
The Common Spirit Health text line and from the two
to one four Sean Payton does not like backyard football,
and that's the issue.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
But I don't think you're really talking about backyard football.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Okay, well, first of all, let's define what backyard football
is because what is that?

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Well, to me, that's just scrambling around and people breaking
off their routes and going different directions when you need
them to.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
I'm sorry you did you just describe the football game.
That what you just described, because that show sound like
a football game to me, because as a coach, you
can draw plays up, you could diagram them, you can
have the scout team, hey do this, do this. As
far as what the Dallas Cowboys or Kansas City defense
is gonna be, here's what I know. That's not how

(19:09):
it happens in games. Guys are gonna move around. They're
not gonna sit there and go, well, I'm gonna let
this guy just run right past me.

Speaker 5 (19:15):
No, they're not.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
There's imp you have to be able to improv is
associated with this game, make plays on the move.

Speaker 5 (19:22):
We've seen both constantly do.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
This, and to me, trying to put him in that
glass box and saying hey, listen, don't play backyard football,
it's asking him not to do the same.

Speaker 5 (19:34):
Thing that you created a spark when he was in Auburn.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
Allow him to go to Auburn, I mean from leap
Auburn and go to Oregon and to be that type
of guy. No, you may not want backyard football whatever
you want to call it, but that is the today's
game because there's multiple mobile quarterbacks in this league that
are going to manipulate the pocket, get out on the
perimeter and force the defense to do what play damn defense?

Speaker 1 (19:59):
I love Seed, you get worked up, but yeah, going
back to your point about, you know, simplifying the offense
a little bit, just perfecting certain things and not having
a million calls on your playsheet. Rod Smith said the
same thing earlier this week on Kawa Sports A legend
of the Game, someone who worked under Mike Mike Shanahan
just like you did and had so much success over

(20:22):
the years. And Rod, once again, I know this is
really another thing that's probably going to get you worked up.
Left off the list of Hall of Fame nominees again,
what is going on here?

Speaker 2 (20:33):
How does the Hall of Fame keep missing?

Speaker 1 (20:35):
How great Rod Smith was not only for the Broncos
but in the NFL as a whole.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
I mean, that's a story. You want an.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Undrafted guy comes to the league, performs better than anyone expected.
Y's up career numbers best in franchise history, and he
can't get the nod for the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Well, here's to understand it.

Speaker 5 (20:54):
I don't understand. But here's a crazy thing.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
There are guys who are in the Hall of Fame
who were not drafted. I think John Randa is one
of those guys. You think about Kurt Warner, He's won
definitely one of those guys. So the league and the
selection committee have put individuals in. Now, I will tell
you this, The Hall of Fame is just like the

(21:19):
Pro Bowl, Right, It's a popularity contest. You're thinking, the
guy who has the best stats is the guy that
should get the nod. That's not how it works because
individuals who have votes they're biased.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
Just think about it. Tara Owens was like kept.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Almost kept out of the Pro I mean the Pro
Football Hall of Fame because there are rioters who did
not like him personally. No one gives a damn about
your damn how you feel. Does he have the stats?

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Right?

Speaker 5 (21:51):
That's the only thing.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
And with Rod, Rod has the stats if you would
have looked him up. But you look at Michael Irvins stats, right,
I would dare say, without knowing the numbers, right off,
bat Rod is right up there with some of the
top guys in mikeel Irvin. And not to throw shade
on Irvin, but Rod never had any off the.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
Field issues, right so quick AI overview.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Okay, sometimes AI is wrong, but more times than not
they are correct. Rod Smith more career receptions and touchdowns
than Michael Irvin. Michael Irvin had more career receiving yards,
both played twelve seasons in the NFL, and both won
multiple Super Bowls.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
Well, one of those guys had back to back One
of those guys was undrafted. You have the guy who
was the first round draft pick.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
And like you mentioned, if we're gonna hold like some
voters do, hold the personal issues against them, Rod Smith
none of.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Those, none of Mike Irvin.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Well documented in that New Cowboys documentary. I didn't realize
how deep it went, Oh, Rudy gosh, like there was
some serious off the field.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
It went deep, like the abyss, how deep it was.
But when it comes to Rod Smith, I don't understand it.
When it comes to Mike Shanahan, I don't understand it right,
because how is it that you're not allowing individual's stats
and the impact on the game impact them as voting in.

Speaker 5 (23:13):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
You have to look at the selection community and say, well,
what's the age group of these individuals selecting? Because with
Rod not being on the list, Steve Smith, Hines Ward
and Kwan Right and Kwon Bolden.

Speaker 5 (23:30):
You know, Victoria Smith is on there.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
Most of these guys I've played against, but Steve Smith
Senior is on there too as well. All of these
guys well deserved of having their day in the sun.
But at the same time, that doesn't necessarily mean that
you overlook what Rod Smith has done.

Speaker 5 (23:50):
So I don't know what was going on with the
selection committee.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Why is it that both Mike Shenahan and Ron Smith
are both overlooked?

Speaker 5 (23:58):
It is utterly ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
It makes the process looks flawed and for me, is
a bunch of cow chips.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
I agree, man, And yeah, going to Mike Shanahan, like,
what else do you have to do as a head coach.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
To get into the Hall of Fame? I mean maybe
you need scandal.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Scandal, and why is there only one coach that's getting
in per year. I don't understand because now Bill Belichick's
up for the Hall of Fame. Yes, you know, he's
gonna go in, and Mike Shanahan's gonna have to wait
at least another year.

Speaker 5 (24:30):
But it's just like, Okay, well, why keep doing that?

Speaker 4 (24:34):
And in this case, Belichick should somehow counsel out what
the impact that Mike Shanahan has made because if we're
if we're going to keep it a buck, how about this.
When you look at Bill Belichick's coaching tree, how many
of those guys in comparison to Mike Shanahan's coaching tree,

(24:55):
has had a lot of success in this league.

Speaker 5 (24:57):
I'll wait, I'll wait.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yeah, I mean you look at the tree of Mike Shanahan.

Speaker 6 (25:02):
And at and how big it is still still in the
NFL after he's been gone for so many years, and
then you have his son and then his tree and
how much it's growing.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
And you see the success of the guys that are
branching off of that from Sean McVay and now you've
got you know, Liam Cohen, then Jacksonville and it's like
it just keeps growing and growing, like those roots are
so deep in the NFL that it's never going to stop,
like that tree is just going to continue to get
more branches off of it. When you see Bill Belichick,
I mean it's one branch, one branch. Yeah, that's it.

(25:37):
And that was just a player, right like that wasn't
even one of his coaches on his staff.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
Yes, So once again, I think it's only ridiculous to watch.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
This take place.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
And whether there's Rod Smith, and people may say, well,
I'm biased because I played for Mike and I played
with Rod, and I'll say, you damn right, because I've
seen it firsthand. I know what it looks like. No
one can tell me what the culture looks like, what
the culture should look like. I've seen it, I've been
a part of it. I've added to it, right, And

(26:09):
I think for me, from my standpoint, whether it's Mike
or whether it's Rod Smith, I think it's totally disgusting
when individuals change the landscape of the game on either
side of the ball, they somehow pass and they're not
here to enjoy that moment.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
I think that sucks.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Yeah, that's the biggest tragedy is that, you know, posthumously
inducted into the Hall of Fame, And why wait on
someone like Mike Shanahan. Why wait on someone like Rod
Smith five six six nine zero the Common Spirit health
text line from the three to zero three two separate texts.
The Broncos have not had respect for whatever reason, pretty
much since their inception. Went on to say, Mike Shanahan

(26:53):
should be in the hall. I think we all agree
with that in Broncos country, and Dan Reeves should be
in the hall. I think that that conversation is a
little more nuanced than Mike Shanahan. Dan Reeves, heck of
a football coach, never won the big Game.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Well, I mean, you give Dan Reeves credit for being
able to get his teams going to a point where
they can actually get in to Super Bowls like Marv Levy.
When I was growing up, was a throwing in my
side as a Miami Dolphins fan because the Bills continue
to go to Super Bowls.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
But they lost those super Bowls.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
But I'll tell you what, I'd rather go and lose
than never go at all, exactly. And so if someone
would have asked me, should Dan Reeves be in Yes,
not before Mike Shanahan.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Yeah, I think that's fair.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
And here's another guy who should be in hell. He
should be in the Ring of Fame. Here with in
Broncos Country, it is Alex Gibbs.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Yeah, not favorite.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
Once again, we're asking a lot of questions that it's
almost like, man, it's cloak a dagger.

Speaker 5 (27:58):
No, you can ask it. No one wants talk about talking.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
About like not only impacting the history of a franchise,
but a history of the league and what Alex Gibbs
did with the running games and how everybody copied that.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Yes, like that impact is incredible.

Speaker 5 (28:14):
I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
I didn't know he wasn't in the Ring of Fame.
I thought he was easily already.

Speaker 5 (28:18):
No, No, he's not in the Ring of Fame.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Wow, that's crazy.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
He should be, man, and there's a lot of individuals
who should be in the Ring of Fame. So I'm
gonna take this moment really quickly to uh make it known, right,
Trevor Price should be in the Ring of Fame. Yeah,
Al Wilson should be in a Ring of fame. Gary
Kobiak should be in a Ring of fame, clearly, Way

(28:45):
Phillips should be in a Ring of fan no doubt.
And Jake freaking Plumber should be in the Ring of fame.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Yeah, Jake Man what a bad rap he gets.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
I know Broncos fans still love him, but it's like
it's forgotten how great he was. And I think that
was the only blip on Mike Shanahan's resume as a
Broncos coach was giving up on Jake Plumber too soon
for smoking Jay Cutler. Like, I think, if you guys
just had one more year together, you were there like
you were, you were right there the year before.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
That'll make me upset.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
This thing plays in a three sixty reil in my
head over and over and over again, and you want
to say that you know what, Yeah, it happened so much,
so long ago.

Speaker 5 (29:32):
I'm over it.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Nah, No, mat Every year doing the playoffs, I relive it.
And it's just frustrating as hell to know that you
cannot go back in time and change it. But here's
what's happening in Broncos country that I don't like is
that when we talk about quarterbacks, we'll talk about John Elway,
well deserved, Peyton Manning well deserved, talk about Tim Tebow

(29:54):
in his past, to Demary Thomas getting team into the
playoff well deserved to a certain degree, right, And.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
Then special moment, but not a special career exactly.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
But then it's silence from Jake Plumber. I think that's
utterly disrespectful. Not to even mention his name. Just kind
of go John l Way, Peyton Manning. No, our team
was thirteen and three and we did a lot, and
that needs to be recognized.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
I agree.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
Man, give Jake Plummers Flowers him is Flowers. Thanks for
making it easy tonight. Nick, always a pleasure hosting with you. Man,
Please no mind.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
And we know one thing about Nick Ferguson.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
I'm not going to jail for anyone in my family.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
Right, I'm not. I've been grand Smith felling in for
Benjamin Allbright. He'll be back tomorrow.
