Speaker 1 (00:00):
In here with you.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Happy Halloween to all those who celebrate, and it ain't
even happier Halloween to those who don't.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Maybe you will someday five six, six.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Nine zero is the text line a few texts coming
through talking about the World Series right now too. At
top of the seven, Dodgers up three to one. I
did tell, right, and then we get a game seven
out of this, so we we just might.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
It would be great for baseball if we get a
game seven. I know the fans in Toronto, the Canadians,
they want this game to be over tonight. But the
baseball fan of me, man, I want to see more baseball.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Well, it's seven inning stretch time.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
There's they at the middle of the seventh inning, and
so we'll get to see when it.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Goes before we get to the breaks.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Actually, here's our crack data scientist back there in his
white lab coate. At least that's why I assume that
he had that on and some other weird reason sent
over texted us over the bone adjusted expected points added
per play numbers.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
And if you'd like to explain what those are for listeners.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
Absolutely, I'll also say if any listeners want to reference them, themselves.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
I've tweeted them out over at Zach Underscore Seegers.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
You can also find the article I put out on
Kowa today.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
But just a BP.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
I think it's the best kind of metric to measure
the health of a passing game. It kind of looks
at the value of each individual play. You know, a
five yard gain on third and twenty isn't all that valuable.
A five yard gain on third and one is pretty
darn valuable, And it kind of factors those things in.
A twenty yard touchdown is a more valuable throw than

(01:40):
a five yard touchdown. An interception thrown in the red
zone is worse than an interception thrown on fourth and
twenty where you're just arm punning it down the field.
It factors in those those elements of context that things
like yards and touchdowns don't always okay.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
So and we get the adjusted numbers here and it
pretty much bears out what I've seen on tape and
what I've tried to talk about, and that is that
bo Nicks starts off a little rough in each half
before he kind of gets in a groove and takes off.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
He's in the first quarter. He ranks was it thirty
fifth ELEGIB thirty five eligible quarterbacks here yep.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Okay, So he ranks twenty fifth out of thirty five
eligible quarterbacks in the first quarter in this rating, but
then jumps all the way up to eleventh in the
second quarter. He's thirty first in the third quarter, and
then jumps all the way up to fifth in the
fourth quarter. And so this seems to be this seems
to be saying that bo Nicks starts off a little rough,

(02:39):
you know, and then finds his groove. And I don't
know if that's mental, I don't know what that is,
but the numbers seem to be backing up what I
suggested that I've seen on tape.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
WHOA, then it's kind of obvious what the issue is
in my opinion, you and Zach and maybe the listeners
may feel a little different to it, but it's the
play calling to get him in somewhat.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Of a rhythm.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
And what we've seen in other games where the Broncos
may start running the ball in the first possession of
first two possessions and.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Then they go strictly to the pass.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
And for me, I always thought, and I've never played
quarterback on the professional hell only quarterback got played salde
quarterback then.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Growing up. But I would think when you start.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
The game running the ball, you help the offensive line
because they're able to get into a rhythm. And for me,
I was one of those guys where I needed to
get that early contact to get into a flow of
the game and the rhythm because if it happens later
in the game, I'm a little throwed off.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
I can sort of relate to it too in a
way because I like coming into something.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
A lot of things, I'll come in with like a
nervous energy. You know, I'll be.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Jacked, you know, like you know, but you when you
have that, you miss stuff. It's as bad as being
tired in a lot of ways, because your your decision
making matrix is so sped up that it's a problem
versus the other direction where you're not in taking enough
oxygen and it's so slowed down, right, you gotta find
that homeostasis in the middle, and so.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
That that's that's sort of I can totally relate to that.
I can. I can absolutely relate to that sort of
nervous energy.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
And that's I think why I see it in Bow
or why I keep commenting on it because it's a
reflection of something that I've seen in myself and in
various activities, whether it's football or tennis or even doing
shows like this. When I first started, when I first
especially when I was on this side of the microphone,
so that side, like when.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
I was, you know, first starting to drive.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Oh, I would come in a million miles an hour
because I had this like nervous energy and like I got.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
To cram all these words in and and.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
So there's I can totally I can totally understand what
I think is his mindset in these situations.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Well, the idea is trying to settle him down. Yeah,
can settle him down early because I can understand being
a little both j act and nervous or having that
nervous energy at the same time.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
And when you see a positive.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Play takes place, now more of that energy starts to
take over from a positive standpoint. But when you start
looking from the negative side, if you have negative energy,
nervous energy, and then what you're trying to do is
not working in that first couple of possessions, now starts
to play on your mind.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
And that's why thing is.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
It's great to always get her young quarterback or any
quarterback for that matter, involved in the game by either
running the.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Ball or quick outlet pass, just just just a quick.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Because the way I look at it, Ben, is like
being a base I mean a basketball player.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
You have to see the ball go through the net.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Once you see it go through the net in now, yes,
now you can go full of Steph Curry. You shouldn't
have ball from anywhere and the back looks enormous, But
you could only do that if you get a guy
somewhat settled in and that's what you could.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Do that have a play calling as well.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
There's got to be and there's gotta be better ways
to do that better, you know, like whether that's running
like a shallow cross where you just got to dump
it their.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Hands to let him go.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
If you want a bang bang play, maybe maybe that
step back screen to the you know what I'm talking about,
That wid receiver just takes one step back and flat
and you're just snapping fire rather than some of these
other screens that they've tried to run. I just try
to figure out something like some easy button type stuff
to get it out, to get to get bow into

(06:38):
in a rhythm earlier. So we're not seeing and he's
had I mean, you know, like I said, what sixty
percent of his interceptions to come in.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
The first half of football games. Two of them in
the first you know, first quarter, one of them in
the in the second quarter.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
He's it's an early thing with him, it is.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
And once again, here's how you set it up.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
In my mind, I'm going to talk about offense from
a defense perspective.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
We were talking earlier about bow running the ball.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
How much should he run because how physical the Texans
defense is. If you get him out on the perimeter,
which we've seen on the occasion the Broncos able to
do with bow all keepers. Now you get him outside
on the perimeter, so you got the defense now being stretched.
Now they're going to have to adapt and move their
zones to make sure that they're actually playing their discipline properly.

(07:29):
And when you roll them out on the sprint out,
it's a quick pass. And here's a great thing about it.
You have a defender and then you have the sideline.
If your receiver doesn't catch it, it's now second and
second and ten at the most.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
But guess what, you didn't turn the ball over.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
But it also allowed him to get into rhythm where
he can get out on the outside, play through his
skill set and try to deliver to a window and.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
He can always go back to that.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Do you think that so Sean Payton's play calling is
trying to get him min rhythm for too long, Like
we see these spam screens and stuff like that, Like
maybe he's waiting too long to open it up.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
He sees that and he's over correcting. Well, I.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Think so.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
In this frame of mind, those screen passes are behind
the line of scrimmers right there, parallel to the line
of scrimmers. So it seemed like it's a easy, fair,
high percentage throw and that it is right. You can turn,
you can use motion, and you can throw it get
the ball out of your hands quickly. But the problem

(08:33):
is you're throwing it behind the line of scrimmers. You're
not attacking vertically, and for me, you're playing to the defense.
So now, if you want to throw that play that
wide screen or whatever you want to call it, and
then say okay, well we're gonna give him the same motion,
We're gonna fake that, and then we're gonna throw something else.
Now you're expanding, you're building off of that particular play,

(08:55):
whether it's successful or not.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Right.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
The problem is with screens a lot of times you
get a nail eligible downfield if you take too long
to get the thing going. But I'd love to see
a pump and go or so, you know, something like
that to build into it. The going to the other
side of this, the Houston Texans offense. Just to give
you guys a little preview of what they do. You know,
on offense, we haven't talked to much about that. They
have time consuming drives. Now people are aren't really sitting

(09:19):
here talking about the Houston Texans offense is being a
great bastion of offense this year, but they have time
consumed drives.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
For matter of fact, they're number three in time of
possession in the NFL this year. And the way they
get it done.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
You know, I think everybody knows about Eco Collins, but
Dalton Schultz is the between the twenties guy and by
far the most efficient and effective receiver. He's the t
at the tight end position. He's there between the twenties
guy and then Xavier Hutchinson. They tend to go to
a little bit more down once they get inside the
red zone.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
You know, he's he's the third guy you need to
keep your eye on there.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
They don't really go to They don't really throw the
ball to the running backs very often.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
That's just not a huge part of what they do.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
If they do, it's usually a what he marks, not
necessarily Nick Chubb, but they like to go to the
receivers and it's a lot of short, intermediate route type stuff.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Nick Chubb is is the primary running back.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
What he marks is the secondary running back and then Nick,
you know, CJ will take off a few times a game.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
You know you'll get four CJ. Stroud carries per game.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Here's the other thing, Ben that's interesting that I look at.
I think it plays a role into when you look
at turnover differential. I mean, the Houston Texans are plus four,
the Broncos are minus one.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Now you may say, well that those numbers.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Really don't really change anything from one mindset to the next.
But knowing as though even if their offense turns the
ball over, they have the propensity to take it away.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
And that was something that I know a lot of
people talked about.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
As far as the Broncos defense, they do a great
job as far as giving up yards, but inside the
red zone they shut people out and ideas like well,
not creating turnovers. You can't as a player try to
force turn off. You have to take them as they go.
But with the Texans being plus four and turn of

(11:19):
a differential and having the ability to milk the clock,
that becomes problematic, right how quickly. If the Broncos are
in a situation in the fourth quarter they need the
ball back, they give to the offense.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Time of possession is going to be key.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
That's another element of this game that I don't think
a lot of people actually spend a lot of time on,
but that time of possession is going to be key.
And if the Texans can move the ball down the
field methodically and do against the Broncos defense that no
one's ever been able to do thus far out of
the season, it's going to make things really tough for

(11:57):
the Broncos to try to pull this game out.

Speaker 5 (11:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Like I said, the Texans are a very high time
of possession, take all the time off the clock, grind
it out.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
They're they're a pretty good punting team, you know.

Speaker 6 (12:09):
Overall.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Uh, the the Broncos punting this year has been below
league average. Cross Shaws average forty seven point six, which
is which is below league average. Tommy Townsend's above. He's
in the top third of the league. The net yards
per punt, you know, cross was just a little bit above.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
League average. Almos right at league average. I mean there's
fractions of a.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yard, uh, you know in there in terms of the
net yardage. You know, on these things again, the Texans
tend to get more net yards. They're in the top
third of the league. You look at the touchback percentage,
which is something you know, you don't really want a
high number and honestly, you know, I mean you want
to kind of get the ball down inside the coffin corner,
and I do. The cross Shaws is one of the

(12:56):
is like the ninth. He's above ten percent of his punts,
you know, being there, whereas Tommy Towns only has about
seven percent of punts going through.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
The end of the inseel.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
You know, if I am anyone on the Texans offense,
here's what I would do. I would send some of
the Broncos DB's kind of like a pre game gift back.
And what I mean, send them some of that Texas barbecue.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
The night before.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
I mean he's in New York.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
But right, right, you know what, welcome to Houston, Texas.
So on behalf of the Houston Texans. We're going to
see you guys some Texas barbecue. Go ahead and child
down on that right as not just as a gift,
but as a way of trying to manipulate the secondary,
try to get them all. I guess fields up on

(13:49):
Texas barbecue where they can't go out and really focus
on the game the next day.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
I would do that.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
I mean, now I'm just hungry. It's thanks for that.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
You think about it when you do that, doing the
ponent right, because because I know back in the day
before I started playing, but it was a story that
told that.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
The Raiders used to do things like that, like pull
the fire alarms.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
Oh yeah, Team.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Hotels, Oh yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
There's a couple of teams that had designated guys to go.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
I do that kind of stuff too. You know, I
got a guy, he's he's the team you know, janitor
or whatever. He's listening on the payroll. The whole thing
was to go go, you know, go to Team Hotels
and start pulling fire alarms. That's why they started putting
security on the on the floor outside. It's not necessarily
to watch them do so, you know, trying to sneak out.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
He's also watching people trying.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
To pull the fire alarms on those floors. But don't
not worry about that. Here not here, Ka always pulling
the fire alarm on this floor, right, Pom pulling the
fire alarm. I think seekers might. He's got a suspicious
look about him. That's why he's so defensive on the trick
or treats.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
That's what you guys wanted a trick so bad. We
know NFL six pack. We come back.

Speaker 7 (15:04):
It's Broncos. Get me helping receives. Let's go on the
official home of the Broncos. All right, All night, Kowa.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Welcome back John Bronco.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Who's country Tonight Bunch with Olbrian, Nick Ferguson, Jack Saggers,
the boss name Tepper stopping by, owner of the Carolina Panthers.
Please send all your tweets to at Dave J. Tepper
on Twitter.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Did you not see Temper's hat right?

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Because I know you and Zach was giving me grief
about putting black in any.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Uniforms, the black Broncos hat.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
He had the black Broncos hat with the orange highlights,
and that was dope.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
I think it's very Halloween appropriate.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
But you guys, by the way, the four of us
cannot leave this building together. It looked like we're headed
out to rob a bank.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
We cannot. We absolutely cannot leave here and get in
a van together.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Well, to be technically transparent, they won't see me because
I am black and I'm wearing black.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
So I can HI. All you gotta do is I'm
gonna smile right there to see you right off the bat.
I'm just saying me with the complexion of an iPhone flash.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
Anyway, let's get it to the NFL six pack.

Speaker 7 (16:16):
It's time for the NFL six pad. I'm going to
train the last year insight and insight information you can't
find anywhere else.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
No.

Speaker 7 (16:25):
The top six NFL headlines on.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
The Miami Dolphins and general manager former general manager now
Chris Greer have mutually agreed to part ways today. This
ends greers twenty six years with the franchise across a
myriad of positions.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Meanwhile, it's been reported that Mike.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
McDaniel will remain the team's head coach through the end
of the season.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
At the least. What do you make of this firing.
I'll touch on the Mike McDaniel bit here in a second,
But what do you make of the GM firing?

Speaker 5 (16:57):
And which gms do you think MYAMI could target?

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Well, I think that'll be dependent on the next head
coach and we'll get to that that portion of that,
and then in the next part of it. Greer got
a Yeah, this was not a mutual parting of ways.
This was Miami severely bribing Greer to uh to move on.
Greer is, by the way, still a witness in the
Brian Flores lawsuit, so that's course sort of interesting on

(17:23):
that front. Think he's going I heard I think he
got a significant payout.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
To not do it.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
That's what I think I heard some Dolphins fans speculating.
But prior to this firing that the reason he hadn't
been fired yet.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Is because he was still a witness. Not that, but
I'm just saying, like he gotta he got a payday.
That's all I'll say.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
About that is he got a payday on that. Uh,
He'll be fine and he'll land on his feet somewhere.
It's not like you know, I mean, his daddy he's
a football lifer, so he'll land on his feet somewhere.
As far as that goes, I think the new general
manager will be tied to whoever the new head coach wants.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
Well, the interim GM right now is a person I
know is cham Kelly. I think he should get the job, honestly,
but I hope he gets the job.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
I would love to see what he does third time
entering GMing or something. Well, the Raiders intern GM for
a minute.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Yeah, he was, uh, and I think it's time in Chicago.
He was an assistant GM.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
And just say he's been like so tantalyzingly close to
that job.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
He interviewed for the job here before George paid his name.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
He was one of the five that interviewed here.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Now here's an interesting thing about Gris's career.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
In the ten years that he's been the GM for
the Miami Dolphins, they had only three seasons where they
had ten wins and more so that probably played a
huge factor. But it's gonna be interesting to see if
Mike mc daniels survives this himself.

Speaker 4 (18:45):
Three two.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
Sorry about that, I clicked it's.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
Roach he's drunk on candy and booze. Man anyways.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Number two.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
Meanwhile, it's been reported that Mike McDaniel will remain the
team's head coach, as I was saying, and that he
could remain the team's head coach for twenty twenty six.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
How long do.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
You think Mike McDaniel will be the head coach for
Miami And what do you think he has to do
to try and save his job with the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Well, I reported this weeks ago when people said he
was gonna be fired. Mike Daniel's not gonna be fired
in season, but he will be let go at the
end of the season if Miami does not make the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Will I maintain that I maintain that report. I maintained
that reporting.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
There is still a chance he could conceivably keep the job,
but the Miami Dolphins have to make the playoffs, So
he's got his work cut out.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
For him as far as that kind of stuff goes.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
We're all rooting for Mike McDaniel, but end of the day,
in order to keep that job, he's pass to make playoffs.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
Not only make the playoffs. But you have to see
this offense turn around. Because it wasn't too long ago
where everyone was talking about mc.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Days being the boy Jaanson.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Look how many points that the Dolphins were actually putting
up offensive and they seem to have a lot of
creativity for us running on the on the ground and
passing the ball. But that kind of went away, No
Tyreek Hill. I remember, obviously we all remember as Broncos
fans that that seventy point game, right, everything seemed like
they were just they look like Kansas City, but the

(20:18):
Miami version of Kansas City. But unless they turn things
around offensively, I mean, I hate to say, I mean,
it's gonna be hot water for Dan.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
It's gonna be tough to turn around offensively with that
offensive line because that offensive line offends my sensibilities in football.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
Imagine if I told you right after that seventy to
twenty game that Vance Joseph's tenure is going to be
longer than Mike McDaniels with their respective teams, I.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
Would have been probably the only person that believe. Well,
Nick would have.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Too been the only people Williams, because we were sitting
here when everybody was streaming to fire Vance Joseph to
have some patience, I mean, the only people in town.
We were getting the other The text line was flaming
us on the daily.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
Now look at it's funny how things work.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
None of those people are still, you know, texting in
to say they're sorry.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Now you can go.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
There's there's never any regrets now. Number three, Roach.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Three, Number three, the multiple Ravens have been fined one
hundred thousand dollars for their mishandled reporting of Lamar Jackson's
practice participation last week.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
Do you think this punishment is appropriate? And how do
you think the NFL should have punished the.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Ravens that got talked down because the original kicked around
number was half a million, so that got talked down
somehow thro some some backdoor dealer or whatever.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
You have to I mean, you have to.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Have them understand that there are your customers, your fans,
that are out there wagering all if you're gonna be
in bed with the sportsbooks, your fans are out there
wagering on this stuff and being deceptive with that stuff.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
Moves the line one way or the other, and they're
gonna be fans.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
They will be put off on this both with your
your partner at the sportsbook and with your product. If
you're if you're putting out bad information that causes them
to be put in a bad way on these wagers.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
And here's the thing for the Ravens man, they got
off with a slap owner Rick.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
That's is light compared to what it was supposed to be.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Yeah, this could have been a loss of the draft pick.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Because you're absolutely right if you are in bed with
sports books. I mean everyone's betting over under on the
fact of whether Lamar Jackson is planning or not. That
changes a lot of money for a lot of teams
that we you and not talked about.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
The line went from five to seven to.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
Two, and I remember asking you, I'm like, okay, well
once you place the bed, can can you change it
once a team makes a decision.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
To me, now your money's gone.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Some books will allow you a refund on that. Some
wall but there's no standard thing across the board. I mean,
you've made the wager based on this, So there's there's
a couple of books that will allow the cancelation of
that because.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
Of you know, those kinds of things.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
Why don't you think it was harsher because to your point,
this first instance, it seems like you would want to
lay the hammer down on them and show everyone else
this could not happen again. We want to keep that
sports gambling money come in. And if there was ever
a time I'm with the NBA scandals and everything to
not be making backroom deals to make the punishment softer,

(23:06):
it seems like it would be right now.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
So how do you think they landed at this year?

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Asking point, Well, there's some backroom deal in going on
with some of this stuff, and you know, at the
end of the day, I'm frustrated because that should have
been a much, much more severe penalty.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
For now we got it rolling.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
Travis Hunter has been placed on injured reserve after suffering
a non contact knee injury during practice today. Unfortunately, thankfully,
Adam Schefter has reported that Hunter's ACL is intact. That said,
we don't have further information at this time. Can you
share any more insight on this injury, Ben, and what

(23:45):
is both of your opinions on Hunter's rookie campaign if
this is the last time we'll see.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
Him this season? Well, I texted Koa before all that
came out. I had a source down there. The ACL
is intact.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
As a Schefter reported, they're expecting an eight week injury
timeline here for Hunter. Which would efectively be the rest
of the regular season. If the Jags make the playoffs,
which is possible, then he would be back for a
playoff push. I think if you were reviewing his rookie season,
I think he played well on both sides of the ball.
I still think he's a better corner than receiver, but

(24:17):
he started coming into his own as a receiver last
couple of weeks.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
It's a shame that the rookie campaign ends this way.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
Well, he is then interesting part of it.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Yes, it's the same that things are come to in
like this for Travis Hunton's first year. But if you
are Brian Thomas junior fan and you have him on
your fantasy team, you can expect his targets to be
increased by this particular move. But it also calls in
the question with hunter coming into the season, was this

(24:50):
kind of effected by.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Him trying to play both sides?

Speaker 3 (24:53):
I mean, that's gonna be the question that everyone's gonna ask,
but we really don't really know.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
You knew exact where my follow up was headed, Nick,
Do you think this had any connection to him playing
both ways?

Speaker 4 (25:07):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
I think it's just, you know, a random luck of
the draw. You know, it's one of those things that happens.
The injuries happen. They're random that and I get it, Like,
you don't want to put Marvin Mims out there late
in a game that you're blowing somebody out that should
have been you know, it's inexcusable that that that decision
was made. But everything else, it's there's a random element
to it. I get wear and tearing all that, but
this was random. Travis Hunter was mostly healthy through college,

(25:30):
you know, play both ways and playing significantly more snaps.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
This is just par for the course. These are things
that happen in the NFL. As a player, you hope
that it doesn't happen to you, but if it does,
you just have to reevaluate and readjust.

Speaker 7 (25:44):
Poor five, I'm Candy and Beer.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
I get it that thumb roach.

Speaker 5 (25:56):
Rock Perty is reportedly closer to making his return, but
mac Joe is still expected to start for the forty
nine ers this week. When do you think will see
brock party return and can the forty nine ers salvage
their season or do you think they're just simply too
beat up at this point?

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Well, I mean with.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
The players that got to coaches, they got to manage to.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Make it work.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
I mean, they're still in the wildcard hunt. They're in
the third wildcard spots the season end of today. That said,
they're a team that's negative four and point differential that
would tie you with Dallas, that would put you just
behind Minnesota and actually just behind Arizona, who's.

Speaker 4 (26:28):
Two and five.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
They give you an example of some of these teams
that might look better in the second half of the
season on their point differential. By the way, the Houston
Texans are the only team that's underwater on the record
and positive point differential. They're three and four, but plus
fifty in net points. To give you an idea of
what that means in net points, Denver is fifty six.
So they're basically they're basically the Broncos, but without the
lucky breaks or you know, as it goes. In terms

(26:52):
of San Francisco, that's a tough division. You know, if
rock Perty isn't ready to go and Matt Jones is,
I mean, you gotta play mac.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
If ro Perty's ready to go, why aren't you playing him?
That that's sort of the question.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Yeah, I'll say this, I mean they're playing San Francisco
this week. I mean they playing the Giant excuse me,
and that's a game that they can actually win. And
then right after that that home hosting the Rams, a
team that they beat already this season on Thursday Night
Football with Meg Jones.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
So if you're can allow Brot Perdy to rest.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
As mag Jones continue to move this team along and offensively,
San Francisco is getting a couple of guys back, you know,
from injuries that should help them out to as well.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
They should be getting some help here.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
But man, when the Houston Texans are having to get
right game against your defense.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
I'm pretty scared for your future. Yeah, it's I mean,
and it may maybe it was a get right game.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Four.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Here's again, Houston might be the most underrated team in
football right now. You're three and four, but they are
plus fifty in point differential. They are the only team
with a losing or five hundred record with a posse
as a point differential six.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
AJ Brown and Miles Garrett's names have started to pop
up in trade rumors, most recently by the New York Post.
Here do we think that either of these players could
be moved? And which player do you think is more
likely to be moved if one of them.

Speaker 4 (28:23):
Were to be.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
I don't think either one of them, you know, AJ's
cap hit and Garrett's cap hit, especially after that contract
he signed. I just I just don't think it's realistic.
I know, before Miles Garrett signed that deal, the Eagles
offered three first rounders for him, and the Browns turned
him down. Three first rounders and they turned him down.
So if you're the Browns and you're turning down three
first rounders for Miles Garrett, you're not taking less than

(28:45):
that now, especially with the cap hit that you have
to take on top of it. So I just that's tough.
And then AJ Brown again the cap hit. I don't
know that Philly has the room to do that. Now,
somebody could come along and say, why not trade these
two for each other and then work out the workout
the deals after is obviously the Browns could use for
receiver help. That said, I mean again, I don't know.

(29:06):
I just doubt either one of them gets dealt.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
If there were one of the guys of the two
that I would say that could, I would say Aj Brown,
I mean, the Cleveland Brownsy're not going to let Miles Garrett,
I mean he is your guy. I mean, you don't
even have a quarterback right now, so he is the
face of the defense, and hell, the face of the organization,
being one of.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
The more lead pass versus in this league.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
But based on I guess these cryptic tweets from AJ Brown,
and then the fact that AJ Brown didn't play against
the Giants in the second game and they won that game,
and they would throwing the ball and run it with balance.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
So I could.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
See maybe Jeffrey Lewie saying, well, we could do without
a J. Brown, and he could fetch a pretty penny
for a team like the Steelers who needs wide receivers.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Yeah, a J Brown trade right now. I think it's
like sixty million in dead cap if they trade him,
right that's.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
A kind of scene number. Yeah, you can't.

Speaker 5 (30:10):
You'd have to get so much capital back to justify that.
I mean, not even considering the AJ Brown of it all.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
I mean, well, you.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Taught after the season the cap pit goes down to
sixteen point.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Three dead cap. Yeah, you wait till the end of
the season in that case.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
But is fellas desperation makes people do dumb things.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
That does that, It does we're talking about logic a
prom day for Junior high toberration.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Man, I'm just saying, a team that's desperate for while
receiving the field as though they're one player away, they
can look to Philly and said, well, you know what,
let's start negotiating.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
That could be a possibility. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
I mean, anyway, Philadelphia's offered three ones for Miles Garrett
before and they turned that down. So I don't know,
I don't know what you do at this point. Two
ones in aj Brown and then you got to work
out the cap economics on top of it.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
It's just it's push that can down the road. We'll
figure it out later on.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
But one thing we will figure out later on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Yeah, to be down at the Burndown for.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
The Broncos watch party.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Come on down see myself at Nick eleven am at
the burn Down on the South Broadway.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
