Speaker 1 (00:00):
Text line is always.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
See guys texted from Utah here. I'm so glad I
tuned it on time today because if I just tuned in,
I would think somebody needs some serious mental health counseling.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Why would he say that, I think the Beaver conversation.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Oh oh that thing, that thing, that thing.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
I forgot about that? Yeah, uh five ur one.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Then yesterday you hit it on Twitter that even though
the Broncos weren't active at the trade deadline, you think
they will be in the off season. Can you give
us some hints on who you think they might be after?
Not persons, but I'll give you some positions. The tight
end position, the interior offensive line in an inside linebacker
they'll be.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
They'll be pretty active at those three positions.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
So there you go. Why has it been so difficult
to find and Devello a tight end for the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
I mean, I don't know. We've had quite a few
over the years.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
That that have not worked out, whether it was Dulcic
or Robert Okwabenham or you know, Julius Thomas worked out
and until you know he left for the money and
know what ever heard from him again?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Yeah, this crop of players on the Broncos roster. I know,
injuries play the factor. I mean when you think about
Nate Atkins, who was just like all day touchdown right,
it missed a reliable and fourth and one and inside
the red zone.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
The real joker, Yes, I guess.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
If you want to call him that.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
But but then you know Lucas Kroll, Adam Trautman, m blowner,
but he was always a long term project Ingram's been
around the league forever.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
So we didn't really develop you know, well.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Well not even in the sense of just developing ben
what you have veteran type tight ends that were on
the roster, that were on the in the system for
a number of years, but we didn't really see anything
of vision come to fruition with these guys where unless
it was National tight Ends Day last year. Other than that,
(01:52):
we haven't really seen this particular positional group really blossom
and flourish.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
It's tough to find.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
I mean, the modern tight end in college is mostly
a receiver. Either either get like a an undersized tackle
that's an inline blocker, or you get an oversized receiver
and they you know, they don't really know how to
do that.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
But I thought that's what Evan Ingram was. What is
everyone was calling him the joker, you were calling him.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
What the heavy slot? Heavy slot?
Speaker 2 (02:20):
That's what he is and wide receiver and we haven't
really seen that leads the.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
NFL snaps in the slot, by the.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Way, he leads the NFL and snaps in the slat.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
As a tighten, a tight end snaps in the slot.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
What tell me what those numbers look like from a
production standpoint.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
I know he leads them infern of you, but he
has taken the most snaps out of the slot of
any tight end the NFL.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
But that's why I phrase it that way, because even
though he's had the snaps, the production hasn't equal the
number of snaps.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I would agree with that, And typically in a Sean
Dayton offense, the tight end gets quite a bit of production.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
They usually were the top three or top two or
three producers.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
So what was that? I'm going to ask you to
kind of forecast and project if you will, since since
you said, well, that is the position that the Broncos
looking for or will be looking for in twenty twenty six,
so what does that player look like for the Denver Broncos?
Speaker 1 (03:17):
You know, probably an athletic player.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Does he have to be an in line blocker?
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah, I mean in Sean Payton's offense, you have to
be you have to have some of that.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
So now the Broncos need to go out and get
another pass catching tight end and another in line blocking
tight end. So that's two tight ends. Well, I mean
you've got yeah. I mean it depends on how they
how they do things this year. I mean, if kayleb
Loner kind of develops into the guy that they want.
The free agents that are going to be out there
this year, you know Mark Andrews, who's going to be,
(03:48):
you know, twenty nine years old, Dave Joku twenty nine
years old, Dallas Goddard, Taysom Hill who's thirty five, that
might not you know, he might might be a little
a little on the aged side.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Tyler Higbee, who will be what thirty three? Kyle Pitts
would be out there. I think that'd be a fit here.
He doesn't not really an inline blocker. But you brought
in Evan Ingram. Why not get a more athletic Evan Ingram?
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Well, okay, so it's interesting you bring up Kyle Pitts
because Pitt's name came up before I think last year
the trade deadline, nothing ever happened. What the Broncos obviously
show last year they were needed the tight end. Now
it's the same ideology. So for me, if you're going
to bring in a guy and Kyle Pitts, other than
(04:33):
his first year with the Falcons, his production has gone down,
and we can talk about a number of factors that
have led to that. But of those guys, Mark Andrews
sounds good to me. David and Joku sounds good to
me as well.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
I'm not opposed to either one of those, you know.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
I mean obviously that the Browns have sort of moved
on from in Djoku, Harold Fannon is mainly is the
main guy there. I mean, Joker still the snaps, but
Harold Fannon has kind of surpassed him on the death chart.
That kind of leads you to, you know, wonder a
little bit if if the Browns, who are kind of
devoid of offensive weapons, are you know, moving on from
a guy, is that really something you want to invest
(05:16):
in Mark Andrews, he's been injured a little bit. I
think he brings more as a blocker than Anjoku does,
but maybe not quite as athletic.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Well, the reason Mercedes Lewis is here is because the
Broncos had some injuries and they needed someone who I
guess that Forte was blocking. And that's what Mercedes Lewis
has done for all of his career. Now, once upon
a time he was a pass catching tight end and
morphs himself into a inline blocker, which gave him a
(05:45):
lot of you know, longevity. But I think this is
a position that the Broncos definitely need to get corrupt
yees because Sean is looking for a guy that he
can open up, that is a threat and down the
middle the field. And if you wanted to run the
complimentary routes, this guy can run all the routes on
(06:06):
the round tree. But still at the same time, you
still need an inline blocker. So if you can go
out and get you know, a guy that can give
you those dual abilities for one price, Yeah, go out
and do that. And if in Djoko or Mandrew's look,
I'll take it.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
I think they had a plan to do that. This
passed offseason and they only got one half of that
plan to work. You you ended up getting him and
Ingram to sign but you didn't get Juwan Johnson to sign,
and I think they wanted to come out and have
what looked like twelve personnel when really Ingram can go
split out, and it gives you a mismatch problem because
you bring the linebackers in and get heavy. We're kicking
Ingram's out, you know, you bring in the nickel, We're
(06:43):
putting you know, Ingram.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Back in line and go.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
And so I think that's what they wanted to do,
and they ultimately just couldn't land. You know, Johan Johnson
went back to New Orleans for you know whatever reason,
the money, and you know, we wound up with with
Ingram and back to Troutman, who's also going to.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Be a free agent after this year.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
So here's my thing. And I tell my kids this,
don't bring me problems, bring me solutions. So I'm gonna
bring you a solution as it pertains to the Broncos
current tight end issue. Right So we only can deal
with what we're dealing with right now in twenty twenty five.
We'll address twenty twenty six later. So you have Mercedes
Lewis as your inline blocker, real good dude, And once
(07:19):
he gets on a defensive guy when you talk about
the latch and stereo technique.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Yeah, he can drive a guy off the ball, but
he's a sixth offensive lineman.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
He is not a tight ended him. I mean he's
not running routes.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Okay, well then then you go like, I mean.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
The last three calendar years he has like what two
catches for two yards something like that.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
I mean he just does not go out routes.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Call it twelve personnel, call heavy formation.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Bring Mercedes Lewis in, see I would bring I'd let
him go at forty two years old.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
I'll go get Tyler Conklin. Maybe he's already on the roster,
so we have to deal with what we have. But
I'm saying you stand in a free agency this year.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Well, yes, yes, that's what we're talking about.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Then I go get Cole Pits.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
I would have.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
I would replace Evan Anger with Kyle Pits, and I
would do Tyler Conklin just kind of the inline guy.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
But for now, for now, to the now conversation. Tomorrow,
the Broncos face off against the Raiders. Yeah, I would
like to see Mercedes Lewis, heavy formation, twelve personnel right right,
Take Evan Ingram right. We know he's not an inline blocker.
We knew that before the Bronco has picked him up.
Flex him out. Why put him in a situation and
(08:21):
force him to do something he can't do. And oh,
by the way, by flexing him out, here's what you do.
You take an extra defender and get them outside the box.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Well that's I mean, that's kind of what they do now.
And now I wish they'd come out in twelve and
do that, but they don't. You know, usually if they
do that to put Troutman, you know, if they'll attached
Troutman and then they'll put you know, anger Mountain the
slot on those kinds of plays.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
For me far as tomorrow's concern, and we'll just talk
about Kansas City when we get there.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
When you go full six o line throat, you're on
my belly, you're on the you know, the belly train.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Yeah, it's it's the same thing that the Pittsburgh Steelers
would do to us when I played. They would either
do it out a twelve personnel or they would do
it out a thirteen personnel. Yeah, and you think it's
a running formation because you have so many tight ends
in the game, and they go like, you know what, Yes,
what we could do. We could both run it.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
And pass it, which made sense when Atkins was here.
I don't think. I'm not sure you're doing that with Troutman,
and I mean that's a very limited.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
All you're trying to do. All you're trying to do
is get a little push from a run standpoint.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Yeah right, and then.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Because you're getting that push, the defense is going to
have to get in a heavy package. That's when you
can utilize the skill set, the running ability, the heavy
slot as you call it, Evan Ingram, capitalize on a
skill set. And I'm not saying Ben that you have
to come out tomorrow night and run this formation that
I'm talking about eight times. All you need to do
(09:47):
is run about three times and then next.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Time you just line up in at the full time fight. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Yes, oh man, I'm with it. I'm with it as
a subpackaged deal. I don't want to come out of
this base, but I'm with it as a subpackaged deal.
I'm totally here, you know, here for you with that.
I just think they need to invest in the position
in the offseason two and I totally agree leave that
they will real quick you're Brett Schrotenber of USA Today
is reporting that Dion Sanders has demoted two time former
(10:14):
head coach and personal favorite punching bag of this show,
Punch Shermer.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Excuse me, Pat Shermer.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
I got so used to call him punch Trmer that
I just actually reflectively call him that, and has replaced
him with tight ends coach and passing game coordinator Brett Bartlunge.
During a presser today Santa Or yesterday, Sanders was asked
whether he'll consider making changes, and he said, I might
have already changed it, and you don't know. I don't
(10:41):
do stuff and blow the whistles and make major announcements. Sanders,
of course, had promoted Shermer to co offensive coordinator back
in twenty twenty three, when the Buffs were four and four.
At the time, Shermer Asson played calling duty from Sean Lewis.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Colorado lost the next four games that year.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
Lewis, by the way, the head coach of San Diego State,
which are seven and one in twenty twenty four, Colorado
at nine and four O Sherbert calling the place. They
are three and six this year and play three and
six West Virginia in Morgantown, where the Mountains are favored
by six and a half. What do we think of
this report that Dion Sanders has removed Pat Shermer is
(11:17):
the play caller and gone to at Barlow.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
It says a lie. It says that the offense has
been performing the way that I guess Coach Sanders thought
that it would because, let's be totally honest, you lose
Travis Hunter and Shudor Sanders. That was a key combination
to the offense, whether it was Sean Lewis or Pat Shermer,
(11:45):
something had to give. Now. Coming into the season, the
idea was like, well, who was going to be the
starting quarterback? And it went to Liberty transfer Kane Soltis.
And then it was like, okay, well you got Juju Lewis,
who's going to be the of the future. But he
received very limited reps as coach prom is trying to
figure out, you know, Saltz or Ryan Stom. But now
(12:09):
they're figuring out based on where the season is. Right
now they need to prepare and move on for the future.
You have to give Juju Lewis an opportunity to get
some reps and some live reps, not camp reps, not
reps in against your own teammates, live reps, and you
want him This is gonna sound crazy. You want to
see him fail now. And the reason I say you
(12:30):
want to see him fail now because it's only going
to make him that much better now. You want him
to succeed as well. But through that failure, he's gonna
realize where he needs to take his game to in
twenty twenty six. And more importantly, when you look at
this CU roster offensively, Ben look up and down the
offensive roster and tell me, well, where their game changers?
(12:53):
Where are the playmakers?
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Well, you're hoping Amari Miller was gonna be a guy.
He's not really been that guy. But he's at the
quarterback not getting him the ball or him not being
the Well.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
It's the combination of a couple of things. I mean,
watching Kayne Saltzers play the quarterback musician for CU, he
was constantly under dress and I thought coming into this season,
based on the moves that they made him transfer a portal,
that this offensive line for the CU Buffs was going
to be so much better than what it was in
Shad door Sanders first season. But it just doesn't look
(13:21):
like that. It seems as though, and don't get me wrong,
Cane Saltzers has made some mistakes, but he's been on
the immense a lot of pressure, a miss amount of pressure.
So how is it that you can throw the ball
down the field? You did even go through progressions? If
you're constantly running for your life? How do you do that?
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (13:37):
And that's the question. It starts up front with protection.
I just don't know what Bartolone brings to the table
that he didn't already have. And why wouldn't you turn
to Byron Leftwich in this situation? Who has top tier
experience with this?
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Bartloone? Who's been an offensive coidator?
Speaker 2 (13:49):
He was He was the offensive coidator for Dion Donnet
with Jackson State. He previously had worked under j Norvel
back at Nevada when Carson Strong was the quarterback there.
So he has a little bit of experience with some
offenses that ran well. But I don't know why you
why you would turn to him over Byron Leftwich.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
See, he raised a very interesting question because when Byron
Leftwich was announced as being part of coach Prime's staff,
I was like, oh, I conceeded writing on the wall.
If something fell apart with Pat Sherman's play call in
the production, just like with Shawn Lewis, Truman would be
demoted and you elevate a guy like Byron Leftwich. But
(14:28):
I'm thinking, like, like where is Byron Leftwich? Like is
he really truly part of the staff, because watching the
quarterback play, I'm thinking of a guy of his experience
known as so he's played the position at the high level.
He's coach and call plays for Tom Brady. The Cubus
would see better quarterback play. But I'm wondering is he
(14:52):
really there like like every day or he was just
hired as an assistant coach just kind of be around
to kind of build, uh that room from a name standpoint.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Maybe that's something we'll have to to keep our eye
on as we go forward. But anyway, Yeah, Dean Diana's
demoted Pat Shermer, and I would suspect that he will
be gone at the end of the year.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
He don't get demoted like that and then stick around.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
It's just not something that happens, uh, Pat Shermer, you know,
I mean he's been a coach for forty years. He'll
have job offer somewhere, whether you know wherever that will be,
but certainly probably the end of his time here at Colorado.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
We come back.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
We got the NFL six pack right here on Kiaway,
and as always see a prime time coming up top
of the hour.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
Pat from Monument says we need in line tight end.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
But he also says, Travis Kelce is not Rob Gronkowski,
and Gronk is definitely not Tony Gonzalez.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
We just need to find a Gronk. Somebody's phone is
going off right now. They can hear it in my ear.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
It's so weird.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Yeah, I don't I don't really know what that means.
But yeah, I mean those were all great tight ends.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
All three could do both block from the inline position
and go out for passes.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
But those guys were their unicorns. Yeah, I mean, you know,
large targets. You just run up, turn around, flash for
numbers and catch the ball.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Right But Ken Donny Gazal is a former basketball player.
Anybody figured it out to block in line, which I
think is what everybody hope, like Julius Thomas was going
to be in wasn't.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Look Shannon Sharp figured it out, and he would tell
you that he wasn't the best inline.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Blocker he really blocked. I mean, he just need to
be willing.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
No, you can just in the way you could say
you could stalk block people if you're you know, like
if you're me, you're not effectively blocking somebody, So just
stalk block them, run them off the ball.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
Five your heart's like, you know, and and these things
that the current Broncos tight ends can actually do.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
NFL six. It's time for the NFL six path.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
I'm insight and inside information you can't find anywhere else.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
The top six NFL headlines.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
On The Arizona Cardinals have placed Kyler Murray on injured
reserve with a foot injury meeting. Jacobe Brissett will be
the team starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. Have we
seen the last of Kyler Murray in a Cardinals uniform
with this news? And if so, where do you think
he'll play next?
Speaker 2 (17:18):
I don't know if we've seen the last of them.
Simply because Perset gets heard or whatever. You may see
him toward the end of this year, or if Set
suddenly falls off a cliff in terms of performance because
he's playing above a level that he's usually kind of
played at that said, if things continue as they are, yes,
you have seen the last.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
You see the last. This is the last season you'll
see Kyler in a Cardinals uniform.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
He will be gone up to the season and I
from what I hear, the Jets and the Saints would
be the two teams to keep your eye on.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
While this might be the last year for Calum Murray,
it's gonna be interesting how they get him off the
book because he is still under contract until I believe
twenty twenty eight. Yes, so that means as though if
you leading him to a team, let's just say this
has been brought it up the Jets, the Jets would
have to be willing to eat some of the cash
only to make it conducive for Arizona to say, okay, well,
(18:11):
if that makes sense for.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Us, well if you trade like even with the way
the contract is structured, it's actually very beneficial for the
Cardinals if you trade him at the end of this
year before June first, they only take a twenty eight point.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Six million dollars dead cap hit.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
That's less than that's less than one year of what
we took to be rid of Russell Wilson. If you
do the post June one trade, and I'll have to
look this one up because I don't know that I'm
aroun there. It's ten point seven million, So no, I
mean nothing in terms of dead cap. They can get
out from under it very easily. It's just the question
of the acquiring team whether or not they want to
take on Kyler's salary of thirty six point eight million
(18:44):
dollars for twenty twenty six and then twenty twenty seven
and twenty eight are just base salary years with no
guaranteed salary behind them. The cap number would be forty
three and forty six, but it's it's you know, the
bonus stuff that will get accelerated, so it's really not
that big a deal for either side.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
In fact, they won't be paying him.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
The acquiring team won't be paying him that much more
than the Jets are already paying for Justin Fields.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Well, if you're going to move away from Kyla Murray,
which if they decide to do it, I'm in favor
of it. But know that the copan percent is not
a loan term fixture for the team, correct, So now
you are in the market to just trying to find
another loan terms to losen, Yes.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
They would be.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Why would have Josh Rosie ty Simpson from.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Alabama comes out this year. I'm just putting it out there.
If you don't like it, you can send it right back.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Two.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
Quincy Williams, the one time All Throw Jets linebacker and
brother of the recently traded Quinn Williams, has been benched
by the New York Jets as they continue to shake
their defensive rotation up. Do you think benching Quincy is
the right decision and do you think this is ultimately
connected to the Jets trading Quinn Williams to the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
I mean, you know, I don't personally know the answer
to that, but it certainly will appears that way. He's
not I mean, he's not a bad linebacker and hasn't
been a liability. But I think Aaron Glenn is just
going to scrap that thing and do you know, and
try to get it to what he wants it to
be in terms of personnel and personality types. Especially they're
in New York, and so I think having the brother
(20:15):
of the very disgruntled Quinning Williams who demanded to trade
four times since he's been there probably, you know, as
a reserve player instead of a leadership role out there,
being active is probably more beneficial to his coaching style.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Well, Quincy Williams is only played so far, I get
started in four games. He's got twenty two tackles and
one and a half sex on the season. Maybe this
is a way that you do control one brother wants
to kind of part ways with the other to make sure.
Like Ben said, I mean, the team is obviously going
in a different direction, and thus far they fail as
(20:52):
though Quincy Williams has not performed up to their standards.
So this is a way of kind of get riding
two players at the same time.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Do you think the Cowboys defensive editions will be enough
to keep them in the mix or I guess get
them back in the mix this year or do you
think these are moves.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Just for the future both.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
I mean, it's tough to get back in the mix
this year, just based on where you're at now with
your record ass so you can't.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
But they've certainly got the bodies to be able to
stop the run.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
The question, I mean between Clowney and Kenny Clark and
now Williams, I mean those are the bodies to stop
the run. The question is where's the rush, the pass
rush coming from, and who's covering anybody in that defense.
I think they've got some decent building blocks there, but
I think this is more of a push for all
in next year than anything else.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Three. CJ.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
Stroud has been ruled out for the texans upcoming game
with the Jacksonville Jaguars after suffering a concussion in this
past weekend's matchup with the Denver Broncos. That means Davis
Mill is getting Mills, excuse me, is getting the start
for the Houston Texans. Do you think the Texans standards
chance against the Jacksonville Jaguars without their star quarterback? And
(22:04):
will Houston season be over with a loss?
Speaker 2 (22:07):
This is this gonna be an interesting game because it's gonna.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Prove which one of these two teams is a fraud?
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Right, Because the Jacksonville Jaguars are five and three, but
they have a negative eight point differential. The Houston Texas
are three and five with a positive forty seven point
point differential. One of these two teams is a fraud
if it is a Jacksonville Jaguars being frauds of being
good or the Houston Texans are frauds at being bad.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
But one way or another, we're gonna figure this out.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
I say that Texas win this game because it is
really difficult for a backup quarterback to come in mad
game and perform when he wasn't receiving all the first
team reps. Now known as C. J. Stroud is not
gonna play. Davis Mill received all the first team reps,
he knows all the adjustments, and then now he's been
able to work full time with the first team unit
to work on that chemistry. So I mean, if you
(22:52):
want to say fraud, I guess we figure out this
weekend that the Jacksonville Jaguars will the fact be the frauds.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
I tend to agree with you too. I think Houston
will win. I think that's a sweep. I tend to
agree with both of you.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
Do you guys think Davis Mills is one of the
better backup quarterbacks in the league.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
I mean, he's a serviceable backup, but he's not I mean,
you know, I mean, what's the difference between him and
jar Sidham?
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Well, you said, what's the different? Leticism is a huge different.
It is.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
What I'm saying is in terms of overall confidence in
your ability to win games with either guy at the helm.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
I am because has been in this position far too long.
I mean better than Davis Mills, and he's done, I
guess a decent job in the backup road as a quarterback.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
Yeah, Mills can get the fruit on even the tallest
of the trees.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
CO Mike Glenner wrong for that neck, call him a giraffe.
I didn't say, you said.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
Jaguars GM James Gladstone gush today about Jakobe Myers and
his ability to not drop the football. Do you think
it was ever a realistic possibility that the Broncos have
traded for Myers, you know, considering maybe they could use
sub ward receivers with stick of your hands and how
much will myers absence hurt the Raiders this week as
(24:09):
they faced the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
The Broncos were not serious about it. The Raiders were
never gonna do it, So I don't you know there's
that as far as the rest of it goes. The
Patriots were the other suitor for the Jags besides the
Jags for Jacoby Myers, which, by the way, the Jags
were the other suitor for Luke Musgrave against the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Just putting that out there.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
As far as the rest of it goes, I mean, yeah,
I mean the Broncos could use some stick of your hands.
They could also use a quarterback that, you know, throw
some more accurate football, especially on deep shots down the
Sideline'm just saying beyond that.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
I mean, I don't know. I think the Raiders are
already bad.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
I'm not sure that had not having Jacoby Myers changed
as much of that Tucker was their most targeted receiver.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
Well you said bad, I mean there is before you
get the bad. It's worse, right doesn't exist. Yeah, So
that's kind of a situation. Not having Jacoby Myers. All
of the tension is gonna flow in two players, brock
Bauers and Ashing Gent and the Broncos all week long.
You have to figure that you only walk through that
they were prepared to stop these two particular players. But
(25:10):
the whole idea is Jacoby Myers coming to the Denver Broncos.
I really can't say, because teams rarely trade players, even
though it's happened in the NFL, but they rarely trade
players within the division. And just think about it. If
Jacoby Myers was traded to the Denver Broncos a couple
of days before playing the Raiders. They're gonna get all
the game playing from from you know, Jacoby Meyers. So
(25:31):
I don't think that that was gonna happen anyway.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Yeah, I mean there's but when you're already scraping the
bottom of the dumpster, what's left?
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Like, what are you gonna do?
Speaker 1 (25:38):
That puddle under the dumpster?
Speaker 3 (25:40):
I mean, yes, that's that's that liquid in the draft?
Speaker 5 (25:44):
Goo, Yes to your point about the Jags, it's interesting
that they seem to have similar taste in players with
this also coming up during the.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
Draft, isn't it though? Five.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
ESPN's list of the best players to play on bad
teams was released this week and it features two thousand
and three Ladanian, Tomlinson twenty twelve, Megatron two thousand and eight,
Tony Gonzalez twenty fifteen, Joe Thomas twenty twenty five, Miles
Garrett twenty eleven, Jared Allen twenty sixteen, Aaron Donald twenty thirteen,
(26:19):
Levonte David and two thousand and five Ty Law. Who
do you think is the ultimate best player on a
bad team? And outside of Miles Garrett. Who is the
best player on a bad team this year?
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Man, it's a that's a good question. Best player on
a bad team? Well, I mean, you know, the Jets
are not a great team. You know, the Garrett Wilson,
maybe Breis Hall Saints are not exactly a great team.
He got Alen Camarcus lave there. I'm just trying to think,
like bad.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Do you know that's not who Zach Seekers wanted you
to mintion to men. He wants you to mintion Justin Fields.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
Well he said, good, I don't think Justin this is
that guy.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
I think just Field bad players on bad teams.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Yeah, Justin Field. I'm like, god, it got's terrible, just awful.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
I had a new reason to hate him after that
Bengals game, just for just just for allowing smokes Seekers
to take a lead there.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Well, I would have to say that it would have
to be uh Megatron. And I'm surprised that the two
thousand and a season wasn't on his list because that
was the year they went oh to sixteen, Yeah that's Lyons.
What about Uh?
Speaker 2 (27:30):
What about JJ Watt back in twenty thirteen? Ooh, that's
a good Paul I'm trying to think some of these
other ones. Man Von probably had some years there with
the with the Rough Broncos.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Yeah, Jared Allen had some years.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Could Rodney Harrison on the Chargers in two thousand and
then he went on to.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Join the Patriots and win the Super Bowl?
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Yep? Crazy, Yeah, because that's that two thousand team had
Junior Sale and Rodney Harris.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
I think we're garbage.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Marshall Falk back when he was on the Colts before
the Peyton, you know, before Peyton Manning Edwin James, I
say there's one for you.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
I what about my guy, Henry Ellard, the all.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Time biggest Hall of Fame snof ever. Henry eller was
on the Washington back then the Redskins in nineteen ninety four.
Three straight thousand yard seasons with guys like you know,
with nobody's throwing them the football.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
That's gonna be a terrible feeling a few players.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
He's in his mid thirties, putting up thousand yard seasons
as a wide receiver back in the mid nineties.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
And still hasn't been recognized for the Pro Football retired
with the.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Third most receiving yardage all time. Come on, man still
can't be told. Six.
Speaker 5 (28:37):
This year featured one of the busiest trade deadlines in
NFL history. Who was your biggest trade deadline winner?
Speaker 1 (28:45):
And why?
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Well, you would say the Jets because of the capitol
they accumulated. But do we trust them? You know, do
we trust Woody Johnson with that? Derek Mougie, I trust
with that, Woody Johnson, I don't. Do we trust them
with that?
Speaker 5 (28:58):
Robert Mays had a great tweet that was like a
team's three first round picks, that's sure to turn them
around when the Jets had that like two or three
years ago.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Yeah, man, who else? Who else was a big winner?
I think Colts?
Speaker 2 (29:09):
I mean, I don't think Sauces were two first rounders,
but they got they filled a need and they're pushed
all in on a season they need to be pushed
all in on site, the Colts.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
I'm gonna say the Jets. And obviously we've yet to
see what that kind of manifests into. But knowing as
though you're picking up players and first round draft picks
that you can maneuver in twenty twenty six and twenty
twenty seven, there are so many people who would love
to be in that spot. But at the same time
as I'm saying that, I think about the Cleveland Browns
and all the first round picks that they have and
(29:38):
how these squaded those picks. So let me get ag
and Darren an opportunity, because I trust those guys more
than I trust the guys in Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Who's the biggest loser, then.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
That's a good question. I don't think Miles Garrett for
not being treated from the Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
The Saints. They basically swap Rashid Shaheed for Veley and
gave up picks to do it.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
At the end of the day, the guy they swapped,
they swapped an elite speed receiver, so a guy in
the NFC for a guy they don't use.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
Some organizations, man, they don't have the right culture.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Ellard had fourteen hundred yards with Keith Schuler, Gus Faratt
and John Freeze throwing him the ball. Beat that with
a stick.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Broncos Country a knight back after this
