love us right there on the Free and Redesigned iHeartRadio
app on the KOA Common Spirit Health text line at
five six six nine zero from the two one four.
I never give up any advantage I could have over
the chiefs. Also remember that could be a playoff game
down the road. That going back to our conversation with
Rick Lewis and Ja Kwan McMillan giving up a little
(00:42):
tell that Patrick Mahomes had, Well, I.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Think that changes you know too much, because teams have
things that you could pick up on grant that they
do every single play. On this particular play, Jay kwalm
was talking about Patrick Mahomes. You can pick up anything
on off of the lineman or like you mentioned early,
someone said that they picked up some things on exhibit worthy,
So to me, just just forcing his Jakwan and the
(01:07):
defense to go back watch more film, be more detail
oriented and figure out.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
What else that they could pick up, because team's gonna
try to change what they do every single week.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Yeah, I agree. I think it was just a Jakwan
feeling himself a little bit. You know, J Mac gonna
be j Max Man.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Hey, Hey, when you go out there and ball, you
want to make sure people.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Know that's right, that's right, someone else who was feeling
themselves last night, Peyton Watson having a career high and
the Nuggets win over the Pelicans.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
This is what he had to say after the game.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
It feels good.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
This coaching Seth and my teammates have been so empowering
of me to go out there and be myself, and
we all knew it as a matter of time of
why I go out there and the production follows. So
I'm just glad to be able to have the opportunity
to play on this team and help us pull out
a win.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Thirty two points and his first career double double for
Peyton Watson last night, and that's not the only amazing
staff on the Nuggets right now. This came out from
the Nuggets earlier today. First player in NBA history to
lead a decade and four of the five major statistical
statistical categories.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Can you guess who that player might be?
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Nick?
Speaker 4 (02:15):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Thirteen two hundred and forty two points, six thousand and
thirty boards, four three hundred and twenty six assists, and
seven hundred and three steals so far in this decade.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Man, he is just unreal.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
He's definitely unreal.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
And when you look at Peyton Watson, not to take
anything away from him, grant Peyton Watson was able to
get I'm not gonna say easy baskets, but he worked
a lot to free himself up. Well, when you're looking
at trying to double Nikola Jokis or you kind of
sending an extra defender out to Jamal Murray, someone's got
to cut to the rim. Someone's going to be left open.
(02:52):
And Watson took full advantage of it. And this is
what the Nuggets team wanted to develop.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
I guess Watson.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
As on under the previous coach vote Coach Malone him
being somewhat of an outside shooter, and the Nuggets have
struggle consistently with outside shooting.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
That's why Michael Porter Junie was traded.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Right because they were not getting efficient play at that position.
But see a young guy like Peyton Watson who in
the Nuggets wrong.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Let's be totally honest.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
He didn't have a lot of points, but he played
defense well. And that's one of the aspects that I
know Coach Malone was definitely appreciate when he was a
head coach.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Yeah, he's always had it on the defensive end. It's
good to see the offensive end catching up as well
for him. We got Breen Masons coming up in the
next Segmentber right, now, it's time for an NFL six pack.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
It's time for the NFL six pack.
Speaker 6 (03:41):
I'm gonna trade a lot of Beard insight, inside information
you can't find anywhere else. No.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Six, the top six NFL headline.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
What I appreciate Zach seekers getting this together for us
before he left for the day, and he knew I
was hosting the show.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
So at number one.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Joe Burrow was a full participant at Bengals practice for
the second consecutive day today, making it possible we see
Burrow make his return this Sunday versus Patriots. If Burrow
returns this weekend, how do you like the bengals chances
against the Patriots. Could the Bengals dig out of the
hole there in to reach the playoffs or is it
already too late.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
I think it's a little too late for the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
I hate to kind of be a guy that rings
on your break grant, but I think that's just too
far back. And there are other teams in the ANFC
for a starting to make their late push right now
and then. And also to no Jamar Chase. He got
suspended for a game for spitting on Jalen.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Ramps five hundred thousand dollars spit, but.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
He said so, I guess that was kind of AI.
I guess it was. He didn't either do it. It wasn't me.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Yeah, But having Joe Burrow return it's a bright spot.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
But the only problem is no Jamar Chase and the
Bengals defense case stabenos bleak.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
I think it's too late for the Bengals as well.
I hope they win seven games in a row at
somehow sneak into the playoffs. By the way, our guy
Ryan Michael has a great article up on Pro Football
Hall of Fame dot Com. Can also find it on
his Twitter page or x as they call it nowadays.
At the Ryan Michael on how prolific Joe Burrow has
been in the start to his NFL career.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
Check that out Ryan Michael's article two.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Aaron Rodgers notoriously on the wrong side of forty. You
can tell this as Zach seekers writing was limited in
practice today with a risk injury after missing practice entirely
on Wednesday. Do you think the Steelers can take down
the red hot Bears without Aaron Rodgers? Will the Steelers
be able to hold off the Ravens or will they
fade down the stretch yet.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Again, I think he's gonna be a fade down a
stretch even though we're seeing the Steelers defense starting so
looked like a Steelers defense. But this is what we
saw from the Baltimore Ravens early in season. The quarterback
the guy would steel on the huts. He was Andrew
Lamar Jackson. Now he's healthy now and they're making a comeback.
But now you have to ask yourself, well, if Rodgers
(06:02):
is out because he's got that risk injury, do you
believe in Will Howard O Mason Rudolph And.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
I'm gonna say no, Yeah, I'd like to see him
just get over Mason Rudolph, move him down the depth
chart and see what Will Howard has if he's the
guy this week, because Aaron Rodgers obviously, like Zack Seger's
putting this in his question, on the wrong side of
forty at best, you got what maybe one two more
years out of Aaron Rodgers and probably more injuries coming.
(06:31):
I think you put Will Howard in and see if
he's got what it takes against another great young quarterback
in Caleb Williams.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Now, you won't be happening to say that in favor
Will Howard because he played at I don't know, Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
No, Okay, because I'm an alumni of the first state school.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
Okay, the Ohio universe.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
I was just checking that. I was just checking three.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
I'm just a little Howard fan, I assure you are.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
JJ McCarthy told the media today that he thinks a
major leap his game as coming soon, saying the quirk
is about to come off the bottle. You think we'll
see McCarthy's play improve substantially down the stretch. If not,
do the Vikings have to add another quarterback this offseason
to compete for the starting job.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Yeah, I think they should competition, does everyone.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Well, you don't want to just kind of give someone
a position to say.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Okay, well you know what, you're fine, because in placency
sometimes set in. And once again, JJ McCarthy's a young quarterback.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
He hasn't really proving anything, just hit.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
He's got a good coaching staff, he has got a
good personnel around him, which is kind of incentivizing him
to continue to improve his games, something that.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Every player needs.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Yeah, I was watching Pat McAfee's show this morning. I
thought it was interesting what Kirk Herbstreet had to say
on JJ. He said that he thinks miss on that
first year due to injury has just really set back
his progression as a young quarterback.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
You can't forget how young this guy is, and.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
I think he's gonna be okay, but man, there have
been some ug ugly moments from him this year with
the Vikings. I would definitely bring someone in to compete
with him next And you know what.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
I would say that it was his injury that Stipe
with his has grown. Because we've seen Aaron Rodgers sit
behind Brett Fahr for several years. He wasn't injured, but
it definitely improved him. It all depends on what you're
doing while you're injured that have a answer game.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Once you come back, you're justin Jefferson, we saw him
throw his helmet on the sideline.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Do you want to out? Jefferson got the bag? I
want out?
Speaker 7 (08:30):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Four?
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Drake May fired back.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
We'll put that in quotations because I don't agree with
that at Cam Newton today after the former MVP quarterback
label the Patriots start to the season as fools gold.
Do you think the Patriots start is fools gold or
do you think they're legitimately one of the league's top teams.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I think they are legitimate one of the league's top teams.
And I'll say this, sometimes Cam Needon to be a hater.
Does he gotta think of You know, Cam Newton played
in New England and it didn't go too well for him.
But to watch another young player excel where you didn't, sometimes,
you know, that could be a blow to the ego.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
And for me, I think this is Cam filling himself.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Why not look at what Drake May's doing and say,
you know what, I love what the guy's doing. If
there's some shortcomings in his game. Speak to those, but
don't say that it's kind of fool's goal. They're winning
from team ball and Trevion Henderson, they're handing the ball
off to him.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
Man, he has taken a big leap in these last leaves.
Tacking to the running game at pays dividends. And if
you look at Drake May's comments.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
There's on a radio show up there in Boston, he
was asked about the Cam Newton comments and he basically
just said, you know, I don't really know what show
he's on. We don't pay attention to the outside noise
here in New England. And you know, he grew up
a huge fan of Cam Newton, so I think maybe
it hurt a little bit, but it didn't seem like
he was necessarily taking a shot at Cam Newton. He
just said, Hey, people are paid for their opinions on
(10:01):
TV and that's his opinion.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
Na, he was taking a shot. He was running back,
but he was.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Doing the grant in a very professional way, a.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Very I would say New England way, right.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
You know, when we're not gonna call out any shows,
we're not gonna use anyone's names, which is gonna refer
to them as them and those and those people over there,
and that's exactly what Drake May did good for him.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Five the athletics.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Diana Rassini has reported that there's growing frustration among Eagles
players about the QB's inconsistent play this season. How responsible
for Philly's struggles, I don't know. I guess winning the
majority of her games is a struggle nowadays.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
Do you think Hurts is Will this be a J
Brown's final season with the Eagles?
Speaker 3 (10:45):
I get I can see.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
That, just like justin Jefferson with the Minnesota bike is.
Those guys are wide receivers. They get paid to catch
the ball, and they look at fantasy numbers and they
see other guys around the league catching touchdowns and they
want to of that too. They want to justify their
payment in rightfully South. So there could be a strong possibility.
We've seen, you know, tug of wars before offensive groups,
(11:09):
where the receiver wants this, the quarterback wants something different,
the organization wants something different as well. But I think
Jalen Hurts is a hell of a quarterback. But Philly
is finding just like all offices, finding different ways to
win games.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
No, matter what you want to say about Jalen Hurts,
his throwing has been inconsistent this year and that would
be frustrating as a wide receiver, But that dude is
a winner.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Like that dude finds ways to win games.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
And once again, this is where things get a little
over inflated, because when we look at Jalen Hurts.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
What we're used to seeing him doing.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
But also remember this is like his third offensive coordinator,
and we still don't know what Kevin Botulo the OC
really wants to.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Do offensive and those last two offensive coordinators getting head
coaching gigs.
Speaker 6 (11:54):
All that.
Speaker 7 (11:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Six Since the NAF went to the fourteen team playoff format,
nineteen teams have started zero to three and none of
them have reached the playoffs. This year, the Houston Texans
are attempting to become the first team to pull off
the feet under the new format. Do you think the
Houston Texans will make the playoffs? If so, which team
currently in the playoff picture will they knock out?
Speaker 2 (12:19):
I'm gonna say no and no, because I mean they're
playing the game to night against the Buffalo Bills, and
right now, that's a baseball score. And the ideas like
will or when C. J. Stroud comes back, will they
have a punch of chance?
Speaker 3 (12:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Think once again, think about what's taking place in the
AFC as far as how well a lot all these
teams are playing.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
If he was just talking about your Cincinnati Bengals, and
if they have.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
A chance in the Pittsburgh stools, Like this is the
one thing I love about this time the year. Teams
are gonna knock themselves out a playoff pitcher by losing.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Games, but other teams are going.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
To excel and position themselves correctly by what they do.
And I don't see Houston actually doing that.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Yeah, you see, right ahead of them in the playoffs
standings for that wild card spot, you got the Bills, Chargers,
and Jaguars. I think all three of those teams are
better than the Texans. Then right behind them the Chiefs
and the Ravens. I mean, I just don't see it
this year for the Texans. I love dmko Ryans as
a head coach, but I just think they're going to
miss the playoffs this year. I just think it's one
(13:22):
of those years. Their defense is legit. We saw that
when they played the Broncos. But I just don't think
it's their year.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
You know what, this would should be an example to fans.
You know when when you wish and hope for your team,
you are saying prayers for them, say prayers that they
stay healthy, because think about it.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
CJ.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Stroud goes down, that changed their trajectory. I talked about
it earlier. Lamar Jackson, what did that look like? When
he was injured? Everyone was like, you know, Baltimore's done.
Now they're like second within a division.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Yeah, I'm Joe Burrow. Just a little too late coming back.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Yeah, little too late.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
And since we're.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Doing the six pack at seven. Rick Lewis just texted
this story and breaking. TCU coach Sonny Dikes is under
investigation for illegal gambling operations while coaching at TCU. TCU
has put Dikes on leave effective immediately.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
Why huge news?
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Whow you know what?
Speaker 6 (14:25):
Man?
Speaker 2 (14:26):
It just seemed like twenty twenty five has been that
year for a lot of odd things. But as it
retains to coaches, players, collegiate professional sports betting has become
a huge problem.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Yeah, man, and listen to this.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
This is from WOJ TCU College Football News. The investigation
alleges that Dikes has reportedly been accepting sums of money
in order to intentionally lose games. No, this isn't over
under or players. That's intentionally losing game.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Wait. See, that is one hell of an allegation. And
you just have to make sure that all the information
is correct because if not, you can suffer a deformation
suit you try to muddy my name.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Right, But but this is safe to take of our argument.
If it does come.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
To pass, man, that whoa wow, that would be a
massive collegiate scandal.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
Yeah, that is huge.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Man.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
TCU has fallen off big time in the past couple
of years after they made that appearance in the college
football playoffs in the national title game.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
I mean, did they throw that game to see you?
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Now?
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Okay, okay, So here's the other thing. Here's the other
thing we must think about, which I think is crazy.
Was the money that you or or Dykes or anyone
in this situation received as conversation worth the money that
you were being paid on your regular salary and chances
are absolutely not gambling.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Problem caller text one eight hundred.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Gambler remas Broncos Country to Night on KOA.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
I got got Rick Lewis as well, apparently that Sunny
Dyke story allegedly gambling on losing games throwing games fake news.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
You are fake news? Well, thank you, mister Trump.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
Uh that's a hard place to trust anymore.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Well it is.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
But I will say this, gambling in both coleusion and
pro sports have gotten to a point where it's putting
a lot of individuals in the crosshairs, and individuals need
to be really careful at what they.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Do and don't believe everything you read on the internet. Yes,
never a gamble.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
To bring on our next guest, pre Masa's host of
Let's Talk Broncos and Believe in the Broncos podcast.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
Read how you doing tonight?
Speaker 8 (16:53):
Fantastic and you have to talk what a lead in
for me is? You introduce as though in some gambling degon,
I surely do appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
No, that's Benjamin Albright. He's not here tonight.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Guy's wrong, Guy, Brie, What.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Did you think about that huge Broncos win over the
Chiefs heading none of.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
The bye week?
Speaker 8 (17:13):
Okay, guys, I don't think I've heard Mile High Stadium
that loud in the entirety of the time that I've
been a season ticket holder for the Broncos. It was
a ton of energy and it felt like it was
written in the templates mile high profits tablets, if you will,
that they were going to win that game. But it
(17:34):
was a nail bier throughout. But each street wins, Guys,
it feels different because it's not luck. That win over
the Chiefs was. I feel like it's the Broncos seizing
a division, seizing their destiny, improving once again that they
can close those big games heading into the bye week
nine and two. It's a capstone of this entire identity shift.
(17:56):
There needs to be improvement. There obviously are things that
get cleaned up, but the Broncos are winning in the
little things. They're gritting through the adversity. They're closing one
school games. And Sunday's final drive really was the testament
setting up the let's walk off field goal. It shall
discipline in situational football, and it was the era of revenge,
you know, mimicking last year's lost to the same exact
(18:18):
team and Denver march Down got it done, converted use
the clock to their advantage, and executed one of the
most important wins of the season in my recent memory.
And they outplayed the Chiefs, they finished the game. If
you're going into the bye week nine to two and
you're in firm control of the AFC West, you're a
top of the entire conference. I think it's a super
apt way to be excited about the position that they're in.
(18:41):
And I don't think it was a floke.
Speaker 7 (18:42):
Right.
Speaker 8 (18:42):
You win close games, you buy into the rivalry, and
you create belief, and belief matters the most when when
we're this close to January, so Bree, when we look.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
At the remaining schedule for the Denver Broncos out of
the bye week, the first two games Washington Commanders, and
then there's the Raiders at the end of the season.
The schedulers have kind of set this thing up perfectly.
You got the Kassidy Chiefs and then you have the Charges.
What is your belief that the Broncos can run the
(19:16):
table with the last remaining of the games. And also,
if they were to do that, what does that now
say about these Denver Broncos.
Speaker 8 (19:26):
It feels like a trap question because some of these
games are trap games. So the commander is obviously not
knowing whether or not Jayan and Daniels will be back
in time.
Speaker 7 (19:34):
I know they're flirting with the idea that he will
be the Las.
Speaker 8 (19:38):
Vegas Raiders being an opponent that really doesn't seem like
they're up to the task of playing competitive football. But
then you're right. They set it up perfectly where you
get a couple of stretches.
Speaker 7 (19:47):
Here, the Green Bay Packers, will they.
Speaker 8 (19:49):
Struggle against a lot of QB pressure. Will Jordan Love
come to Denver and have an opportunity to let that
game slit them by? And you've got the Jaguars, the Chiefs,
and the Charger. You have all the rest of the
AFC West to face here. But that Kansas City game
on Christmas Day no longer feels like this task and burden.
(20:10):
You've already gotten one win out of the way. Do
I think they're going to win out? No, not necessarily
the league, the NFL in general football as a sport,
it's incredibly difficult and sometimes the game just doesn't go
your way. But the way the Broncos have been playing
and being able to pull some of these games out
of the hat, if you will, full of mile high magic,
it'll be interesting to see the ones that are played
(20:33):
at home in Denver will matter more. Those will be
those opportunistic opponents and matchups that should peeter it in
their favor. But Nick, if you talk about winning most
of them, maybe you drop the Kansas City game just
because it is what it is. And maybe I don't know,
the Packers just show up and have a complete wallop
(20:56):
being of an offense an announce them with the defense I'm
talking about. Maybe's here, But you're talking about a team
that's poised for making a really deep run in the
playoffs simply because they're able to finish out the rest
of the season strong. I don't want to discount the
strength of the remainder of the schedule, but it does
pose a really great spot for this Denver Broncos team
to be in.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
Yeah, I mean you think they lose.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Just even if they lose two more games, they've got
a thirteen to four record heading into the playoffs. Pre
mased us joined us on the Kawa Common Spirit Health
Hotline here on Broncos Country tonight. Going from the highs
of Colorado football with the Broncos to the lows with
the Buffs. What can we expect to learn from the
Buffs these last two games of the year. Obviously not
the record they want this year and Boulder, but we
(21:40):
got ju Ju Lewis, so maybe there's hope going into
next year.
Speaker 8 (21:45):
I love the way you phrased that as a question,
because right now it's a real crossroads for the Coach
Prime era that you mentioned it being three and seven.
Taking those back to theout back losses, the growing pains
have been obvious, and they've been especially allowed on the
defense and within the trenches. I don't think the story
necessarily is just the record. It's the rebuild. Inside the rebuild,
(22:06):
they've transitioned. Now they're going to be starting Julian Lewis.
There's questions of whether or not he should have been
starting from the get go, and he's shown real flashes
the poise and command of an incredibly young quarterback. The
locker room seems to be shifting some. You've got younger
players who are taking ownership of their responsibility on this team,
and the stats is using a little bit of a
(22:27):
late season by to hit that reset button. There's a
lot of pressure on Coach Prime. It's undeniable, but I
think the buy in from everyone, including the momentum that
they've seen as far as making decisions and recruiting etc.
It's one of the most visible programs in college football.
It means the foundation is far from shaking. I think
(22:49):
this program still needs to learn how to win.
Speaker 7 (22:51):
Without the star power that they had last.
Speaker 8 (22:53):
Year, because these next two games are going.
Speaker 7 (22:55):
To tell us whether or not the Buffs are close.
Speaker 8 (22:58):
To turning a corner or if they have some major
roster building to do.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Real quick, last question from me, what do you think
of Peyton Watson performance for the Nuggets last night?
Speaker 4 (23:08):
Good to see him getting it going on the offensive end.
Speaker 8 (23:12):
Well, holy cow, we were talking about how impressive the
Nuggets were to start eleven three to start this season.
Yokis is always going to be continuing to be this
heartbeat of the team. They're delivering huge stat lines and
then out of nowhere. What we've been asking for is
the younger guys, the depths, the bench to be able
to stand up in. Peyton Watson being the guy to
do that was absolutely thrilling because then you know you
(23:33):
can lean on the younger part of this team, especially
the bench. They're stepping up on defense, they're doing what
they need to get done. But as these players continue
to step up in big games and have stellar performances.
I think it just means that being better than last year,
adding the pieces that they need to give, you'll get
your breather and have role players that are contributing. For
(23:56):
Denver to go deep, they need consistency, So it can't
just be one off splash games that are going to
be the talk of the town. But it's going to
be smart, smart minute management for Jokic. But it's early, right.
I just think if everything holds up the way that
it is and the injury bug stays at Bay, this
could be one of the best teams in years to come.
Here for this Denver Nuggets roster, it's.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
A great time to be a sports fan in Colorado
with the Nuggets, the Broncos, and the Avs, and hopefully
the Buffs can turn it around. We still got faith
in coach Prime Brie. We always have faith in you.
Thanks so much for joining.
Speaker 7 (24:30):
Us tonight, Cracy, Guys, have a great night.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Bree masis host of Bronco Earth, not Broncos Country Tonight,
that's me Tonight. She's the host of Let's Talk Broncos
and Believe in the Broncos podcasts, and I promised to
sound earlier. Nick and It was from Kawa Sports on
Tuesday with Garrett Bowles, and I just thought it was
an awesome way to kind of wrap up this win
over the Chiefs before we get going with the rest
(24:55):
of the Broncos schedule. He was talking about the end
of the game scenario against the Chiefs before that game
winning field goal and then kind of who they are
as a team this year.
Speaker 6 (25:05):
We had a one down, gave the ball back, our
defense stopped and got the ball back, and that was
the drive that we went down and scored and kicked
the game winning field goal. So I brought the old
line together and I said, this is what this is
what makes this who we are. And I gave them
all this bump and I said, this is this is
the drive, this is who we are, this is you know,
this is where we become the best al line on football.
(25:26):
And we all looked at each other and that's what
we practice, and we practice what we preach and those
are the different situations that we put in and well
coach has he puts us in different situations and weprive
ourselves off in a two minute situation. I feel like
we're the best old line unit out there, making sure
that we're blocking for bow and getting the ball into
our playmakers to win. I mean, I feel like our
(25:47):
two minute conversion rate, you know, you did we kick
a field goal, we score this year has been on point,
and we all had faith. We all knew we were
going to go down there and neither score kick a
getting winning field goal. We knew the situation and we
executed it, and the feeling going to be even more
better than you know, kicking that game winning to a
goal and knocking off a you know, a big time
(26:08):
divisional opponent that's dominated this this division for so many years.
And you know, if you've noticed the last couple of years,
I feel like we've been in all those games. You know,
they blocked the field goal to win it, and then
we smacked them a good one when they said their
starteds were playing. And then last year it was the
same thing, and the year before that was the same thing.
So it was just a moment of time until we
(26:30):
got our mojo, and I felt like our owners and
our you know, general manager and coaches built a great
team to be able to perform the way that we
performed on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
That was from Garrett Bowles interview on KOA Sports on Tuesday.
You can find the whole thing at Kowacolorado dot com
or on the free and.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
Redesigned iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
That going back to our conversation in the first hour,
Nick about the three Broncos you're most thankful for, and
Garrett Bowles is one of them. For me, man, who
would have thought you would be saying that. At the
beginning of his career here in Denver, you know, he
was getting booed every time he got a holding call.
And now he's like the face, one of the faces
of the franchise, and it seems like he's grown up
(27:12):
so much in his time as a Bronco and I
just think that's really cool to see.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Yeah, I'm glad to see that for Garrett.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
And you're right, And I've had to say this too
off air to certain media members. It's not fair to
judge an individual when they are going through difficult times
and understanding what it is that they're going through. And
you write Garrett had an issue with penalties and he
(27:40):
had to work himself through that particular issues.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
But as a young player, that happens to you.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
But to see the growth and the maturation process that
he is put himself in right to be a man
staple on that offensive line, but more importantly, what he's
doing off the field. And these are some of the
things that most people don't want to talk about. It's
all about the criticism, but not about the praise.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
So I like to lean.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
More towards and you know this about me, more towards
the optimistic and positive side. So I like Garabous. And
every time he sees me, he reminds me of something
that I once told him, where a guy I know
who works in fashion in New York said that he
was going to give me some some some athletic apparel,
(28:32):
if you will, and that I can give to Garabous
because they were doing a you know, a triple X line.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
Okay, so he is a big man.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
He is a big man.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
So now that person has yet to give those things
to me. So every time Garrett sees me, he reminds me, yo,
what's that man, where's that gear coming?
Speaker 1 (28:55):
And I got nothing that sounds like the Jenkins Elite
gear We've been waiting on here for a couple of years.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
Yeah, I say, look, man, it's a supply chain. I
can't get it to you. Until he get it to me.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
I'm just a middle man. Yeah, I'm just a middle man.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
But yeah, Garrett's work off the field and he's one
of those people like I mean, you can't say this
about everyone, but when you get to know someone off
the field, and like every week he calls in for
his interview on KA Sports and he legitimately like asked
me how I'm doing and thanks me for you know,
having him on the show and getting a plug for
his great foundation. And it's just like, it's so great
(29:31):
to see good people do great things. And I think
that's something that is very undervalued in our society, is
shining the light on that.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Yeah, he's a good dude, but his story is one
of perseverance and that those are the sports stories that
you really want to lean on. Someone who had some
difficulty in their life and they were able to turn
those difficulties into triumph is that we're seeing right now.
(30:00):
So I'm proud of the man, the player, but more importantly,
I'm proud of the husband he now is.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Yeah, and he had a funny story, you know, we
were talking about how he had a lot of struggles
early on in his career here in Denver and he
sat on his bye week. Back in the day when
he was a young player, he would just go to
his parents' house in Utah and rake leaves and take
all his anger out on the lawn. But now he's
having a little more chill time. And this last minute
we got here in this segment, take us behind the
(30:28):
curtain a little bit.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
How did most players spend their bye week in the NFL?
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Man, you just try to get away as much as
you can to kind of ground yourself, put yourself around
the people who were there from the very beginning, those
people who saw you struggle, because they remind you and
they will always remind you no matter how big you
become as a household name, no matter how much people
pat you on the back, no matter how many Jersey
(30:54):
sales and money you make, there are the people who
are gonna be honest with you, and they're gonna tell you,
ay man.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
Hey, great win.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
But on this particular block, man, that dude, did you
you know some justice?
Speaker 4 (31:05):
And that's good, right.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
I Mean, when you get you know, you start to
feel yourself a little bit. When you're a professional athlete,
you made it to the pinnacle of your field at
the top of the mountain.
Speaker 4 (31:13):
It's good to be grounded, good to be humbled.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
Every once in a while, put back in your place
to remind you where you came from.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
A man, I'll tell you, family and friends will always
do that to you, and you need to keep those
type of people around you.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
That's exactly right, man, Nick. Thanks for making it easy
as always. It's been fun hosting with you. Well, I'll
see you again Monday. Run it back, Run it back, baby,
we got Bust Prime Time coming up next.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
Top end.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
Grant Smith filling in for Benjamin Albright on Broncos Country
A night on KOA.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
It feels good you are.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Fake news might just be one of those years, folks.
Speaker 6 (31:46):
It might just be what makes this who we are.
