Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let the wet blanket take over Afternoon Drive today, and
I will say.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
You was actually pretty positive guy on Afternoon Drive. I
was shocked. I don't know how much.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Rick Lewis's influence had on that, but not too many
wet blanket takes from Ben today.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Well are you talking about folks soul brother number one,
rick Lewis.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
That's right, Yes, and I found out I'm.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Number three clearly, Yes, Yes, had an impact on one
Benjamin all Bright. So don't settle down and expect that
all the time.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah, I'm not holding my breath on a positive Benjamin Albright.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
But if you want to hear koa.

Speaker 1 (00:33):

(00:56):
right here on KOWA on Thanksgiving Day without further Ado,
let's out to the Kowa Common Spirit Health Hotline bringing
our guy Cody Wurrick from Mile High Sports.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Cody, how are you tonight, man?

Speaker 4 (01:07):
I'm good. How are you guys doing?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
We're doing good, man. How's the bye we treat you?

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Did you get a little time to reset and reflect
on the Broncos season that has.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Been so far, you know somewhat, you know, for the
most part, without happened to you know, go to practice
or you know, go each of the week, don't prepare
for a game. You know, I think one of the
bigger things we looked at was what can the Broncos do?
And there was a lot of shows and a lot
of conversation to be had.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
All right, Cody.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
So we're looking at this team and looking at the
standings right now and the Chiefs we're able to make
that comeback.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
Yesterday against the Colts.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
And we talked about this before you join us, But
want to get your input. Were you rooting for the
Chiefs or were you rooting for the Cults in yesterday's outcome?

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Well, you know, I'll tell you this, not rooting for anyone,
you know, regardless, you know, I think the best case
would have been. They both tied, uh somehow, but uh,
you know, if you I feel like if you need it,
like if you were if you had a preference for
anyone to win, I think everyone the rightful mindset should
have been everyone should have hoped the Colts would have won,

(02:17):
because any chance you get a buryed Kansas City and
keep them maybe out of the picture, I think is huge.
Uh they're still in the hunt, which means they're still
hanging around, so uh, you know, a little bit of
an unfortunate end result there. The Colts just simply couldn't capitalize,
laid down the stretch, especially on third down, defensively disappointing
to see because uh, you want to bury them, and

(02:37):
you know, you know, it's like that that meme. Mark's
like I attended the person I hated funeral just to
make sure that they were dead. That's uh, that's that's
definitely something you have to hope happens here over the
next course other half of the weeks, which I would say, hey,
you know, at least on paper, I didn't think that
was going to be the case with them going to
play the Cowboys this week.

Speaker 6 (02:56):
But Cowboys just got a big win over the Philadelphia
Eagles in Dallas, and that's where the Kansas michief is
gonna have to travel and play, so that could end
up being fruitful for them.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Yeah, that was the side I landed.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
DoD was like, it's like the zombie Land double tap,
Like you don't want any breath of life left in
the Kansas City Chiefs because if they find a way
into the playoffs, you know they've been there before and
done it before. That's a scary proposition for any team,
including our Broncos and want to comeback. Win for the
Cowboys over the Eagles, I did not see that one coming.
Looking ahead to the Broncos next game, you know, we're

(03:31):
searching for our tenth win like the Patriots got yesterday,
to stay atop the AFC as a whole. What do
you think about this commander's matchup? What are you hearing
about Jaydon Daniels. Is he going to play? And if
he does play or if he doesn't play, how does
that affect the Broncos defensive game plan?

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Yes, of course, Look I don't think he's gonna play
this week. That's definitely something for a dislocated elbow. I mean,
you want to bring him back against this defense. You know,
Okay Washington, you know, be our guest here. But I mean,
obviously dan Quinn's come out here today and I said,
you know, he'll practice this week, like they'll try to
get him back on the field, but unlikely that he's

(04:09):
going to play here in Sunday's game. So you know,
Denver is going to probably more likely prepare for Marcus Mariota.
But but Noah, Sean Payton, you know, he always tells
us every year about the story with DeMarcus where where
you know, when DeMarcus was with the Dallas Cowboys, he
was on the injury report as a d m P
all week long, and Sean and his coaching staff took

(04:29):
that into account and so like, all right, DNP, he's
not going to play, and then he runs out of
the tunnel on game day. And so from that point forward,
Sean says, anytime that there's a player like that, we
always you know, we're going to prepare as if he
is going to play. I imagine that's going to stay
true here with Jayden Daniels. But obviously Marcus Mario, veteran
guy knows how to run a system. Well, they got
Deebo Samuel, who's this gadget guy to use him on

(04:50):
jet sweeps motions, put him in the backfield, and then
obviously got Scary Terry who's very good. But Mariota's legs
and his athleticism is something the Broncos are certainly going
to account for here in this week's game as well.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Cody all Right, Will Lutz, he's been i'll say, rather
clutched this season, But how would you look at the
situation known as though the Broncos looking to or have
extended Will Lutz for another three seasons.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Yeah, I think it's important. Look, you want to keep
guys who are helping you with the culture. I mean
a few years ago, Sean brought in Will and you
know it's like, oh, another things connection. And you know,
I think Will in his first game as a Bronco,
he had a you know, missed extra point, He had
a missed field goal in that game against the Raiders,
and that's certainly impacted that. But you know, Will's grown

(05:43):
and obviously he's kind of more comfortable. He's a couple
of coordinator changes over the course of his time here,
but he's been money this year. He's been so good,
not only in clutch situations, three walk off field goals
five or five against the Kansas City Chiefs, and AFC
Specialties Player of the Week. He's one as well over
the course of his tener in Denver, several AFC Specialties

(06:04):
Player of the Week and Month awards for his production. Obviously,
the Broncos have kicked a lot of field goals in
his time here, but I would say, you know, for Will,
it's obviously well deserved.

Speaker 6 (06:14):
Here.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
I'd say another aspect that's been so underrated is with
the new kickoff. Well, there's been times late in the
first half or maybe even late in the game where
Will is kind of pinpointed a kick to where it
lands on the half yard or maybe the one yard
marker and then goes out of the back of the
end zone, which makes it a touch back to the
twenty versus it being of a thirty five. And there's
also been times I think he's really tried to tease

(06:36):
and paint a return or maybe where they can field it,
but they're the momentum carries them out of bounds at
the one yard line like that. Those are some of
the things he's been playing Arounte with this year, it's
been impressive to see. Yeah, he's just been money and
I think really kind of the field goal over Kansas
City it was Denver exercising the demons that they experienced
a little bit last year at Arrowhead.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Talking with Cody Rourke of Mile highs Sports here on
Broncos Country tonight and sticking with special teams for one
more question. I don't think any of us really had
any questions about will LUTs going into this season, but
we did have some concerns early on in the year
after Darren Rizzy took over. There were a couple of
special teams miss cues. Once we were without Marvin Mims
for a couple of games, we realized how big of

(07:18):
an impact he has on the special teams unit and
the entire team as a whole. With flip and field position.
I mean, that was huge in the Kansas City Chiefs game.
But how would you sum up Darren Rizzy's first year
so far as the Broncos special teams coordinator.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
I've said it's been below expectations. You know, obviously you
could be a very bright mind, you could be a
very good coach, and you can understand the schematics and
what you should be doing, but you also have to
be able to coach the players to execute it. And
obviously there's also an onus on the players to be
able to execute those things. Staying disciplined in their coverage
lanes on punt to making sure that they don't give
up an alley kick off, especially this year, making sure

(07:56):
that they don't overshoot or commit too far inside and
all of a sudden it creates a wide app and
all of a sudden, now you allow a big return.
Denver's kick return coverage this year has definitely been spotty.
I felt like last the last couple of weeks it's
been pretty good, you know. I felt like their kick
return coverage has adjusted a little bit. I think having
Marvin back in the next certainly helps. I mean, his
two returns that he had against Kansas City were big.

(08:18):
You mentioned Jeremy Crosshall. Look, he had a rough Raiders game,
and it was really really rough. But aside from that,
he's been He's been pretty stellar most of the season.
And then obviously will Let's being very clutch. The issue
with a special teams unit really has to do with
just hy staying in their you know, assignments like staying
in their lanes. Essentially, le Broncos have made some personnel
changes to kind of counteract that. We saw a really

(08:39):
good performance. I felt like Special Teams had a great
performance against Kansas City. If anyone knows that, I know
Nick and I know you blow with Dave Tube over there.
They have a very good Special Teams union in Casey
every year. So for Denver to do what they're able
to do is big.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
All right, Cody, what will the Broncos have to do
to keep vans Joseph? Let me preface it by saying this.
I just had a conversation with Steve Atwater and Grant Smith.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
You advanced Joseph.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
They thought I was pushing him out of the door.
But I'm just saying, we know how the NFL works.
A coach does well with one team, all the teams
that are not doing well, they're buying for that guy's talent.
So what do you think is going to take to
get advanced Joseph to stay well?

Speaker 4 (09:24):
You know, I think you know, a bag, A bag
that makes him the highest paid coordinator in the game
certainly would do that. Previously that was Ship Kelly. You know,
he signed on with the Raiders for six million per year. Look,
and that doesn't count against your salary cap. The Bronx
was they have the cash richest ownership group in all
of post sports and American sports.

Speaker 6 (09:42):
So I would say if you know that.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Listening to his interview with Peter Schrager, he talks so
much about the vision, how Denver, like Denver, is a
place where guys want to be. And I think to myself, Okay,
there's gonna be some head coaching opportunities in Vance to
certainly reflective as to like what went wrong the first
time in Denver, what he would do differently. The biggest
question is are you going to an organization that has
stability with ownership? Is did a revolving door of coaches

(10:06):
every two to three years from what we've seen? Do
you have a quarterback in place? Do you have an
offensive line or your trenches set? You have pieces you
can build with? And if that question, if that answer
that question is no to any of those, I don't
think it's a better situation than staying ever and calling
this defense. I think it's the most appealing job right
now for Vance, and I think that the Walton Penner

(10:26):
family ownershiproup. I don't think there'd be an issue for
them to say, hey, we'll make you the highest paid
coordinator in the game. To me, that's what I think
we keep advance here in the Mali City.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Cody.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
We appreciate your time as always, man, have a great
Thanksgiving with the wife. I love the what the football
segments with her. It seems like her knowledge base is growing.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Uh, he's you know, we're we're getting there. She shumps
me every week. She always asks really good questions and
I'm like, wow, I didn't know she you know, she
asked a really good question like this week it was
I think she asked the question, if you get your
helmet knocked off the play stop with us to continue
to go, And I was stumped for a minute. I
didn't know the rule on that. So she's got some

(11:06):
good ones. She hates Tony Romo. It's great like I'm
living the dream over here, gentlemen. So I appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
I appreciate you man. I have a great rest of
your night and happy holidays.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
Thank you. Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Well, I've stopped being quickly an answer that question keeps going, right,
you know, you don't stop.

Speaker 5 (11:23):
I mean if I am.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
About to tackle the guy, and somehow his helmet pops
off before I get there. I don't stop and say
excuse me, sir. Let me pick up your hat and
put it back on your head. Now begin running again.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Now this may not be You might not be the
right person to answer this question because you just went
all out all the time, even in practice against your teammates.
But if you see a guy carrying the ball and
he has his helmet off, are you targeting him a
little bit lower than you would just out of respect
for the other player?

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Are you making your kill shot regardless?

Speaker 5 (11:57):
Well, it all depens right now.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Naturally, my inclination is not to take a shot at
a guy's dome piece, And when I go to tackle,
that is not my point of reference anyway, right because
if you hit a guy in the head, I mean,
that's a flag.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
See I'm aiming center.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Mass a tines Ward on the other side, I'm.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
Gonna aim center mass and hope that he does.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
You know, I think it's good news for the Broncos
that it doesn't look like Jaydon Daniels is going to
play in this game. But I you know, with the
way this defense is playing, I don't know if it
matters either way.

Speaker 7 (12:35):
Like they are.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Rolling, Like when you shut down Patrick Mahomes and the
Kansas City Chiefs like that, I think your confidence has
just got to be through the roof.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
Well, yeah, your confidence is through the roof.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
And I know dan Quinn received a lot of unnecessary
flack and negative narratives when Jaydon Dais was injured against
Seattle all he should have taken him out. He put
his quarterback in jeopardy, and dan Quinn, to his credit,

(13:07):
stepped up to the mic better than some people I know,
some coaches.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
I know.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
He stepped up and said, you know what, that's on me,
even though I feel as though it wasn't on him.
But with that being said, you don't want to put
your franchise quarterback and that predicament known is that your
offensive line can't even protect Marcus Mariota. So why even
put Jayde Dames in that situation against a defense that's hungry.

(13:35):
They are sacked, hungry, and they're looking to get your quarterback.
So rest of another week, I think they're gonna play
maybe the Raiders after they played the Broncos game.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
That's the get right game.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
So yeah, the Broncos against the Raiders defense.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Somehow we made them look like they were as good
as us on the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
You heard Cody mentioned his wife hates Tony Romo, which
is obviously Cody like, Well good because I hate him too.
Why does he get all this hate? I think he's
a pretty damn good commentator.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Well, I don't think it's about Tony Romo and it's
commentating right, because he's always or jim nantz.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
Oh, here we go, here we go. Anybody go for it?

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Oh yeah, So some people either you love it or
you hurt you hate his style of play calling. But
I think Broncos Country may not like Tony Romo for
certain things he might have said or alluded to. As
it retains to Broncos Country, I think that that's probably

(14:42):
where it comes from.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
I like him better than Tom Brady has a play
by play guy or I guess a color analyst, not
a playback Bobby.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
He's been doing it to be to Tom's credit, I mean,
Tony Roman has been doing it a lot longer.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
So once Tom gets into the flow of things, and.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
I look at Tom as the way that he attacked
his career he's gonna attack this the same way. But
but listen, Tomato tomato, you like vanilla bean, I like Madagascar,
whatever it.

Speaker 5 (15:09):
Is, you know, it's it's whatever you flavor, neighbor.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Yeah, and if you don't like it, just turn it down.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Yes, society that people don't really use as just like, Hey,
if you don't agree with something, you don't have to
listen to it.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
You don't have to be a hater. You can just
avoid that at all costs.

Speaker 7 (15:27):
Well.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Interesting also too, if you don't like what someone saying,
understand what it is about it that you don't like,
and don't try to just go out the and be
just negative for the sake of just being negative.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Yeah, I agree with that one hundred percent. We always
see I except for on the band's Joseph thing. We're
gonna leave that on the back burner. We're gonna talk
some quarterbacks when we come back, how to help bone
Nicks and also get into Shador Sanders winning debut for
the Browns that coming up next on Broncos Country Tonight
on KOA. Thanks to Steve Atwater for joining us in
the first to our Cody Rourke in the last segment,

(16:02):
missed any of that finding on the free and redesigned
iHeartRadio app. You can all say KOA as a preset,
just like you're doing your car nailed itd just do
my own sounder today since Ben's not here. Uh, Nick,
you wanted to talk about how the Broncos can help
bow Knicks going down the home stretch of this season.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
What do you mean by that?

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Well, we've seen both Knicks excel in certain aspect of
the game, more importantly in those fourth quarters. And we've
heard a lot about bow Knicks and this offense and
how great they do and the closing moments of the
game to close out games, Whereas when we look in

(16:44):
years past, that has been the issue with the Broncos
having the ability to close out games. So it got
me to thinking, because I know Sean Clayton, Sean Payton
loves to design plays, so.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
I have I mean, I could come up.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
With a couple of plays on my own, but I
don't know if he would actually run him. But well,
you know they answered that, yes, a coach, and that's
a big capitol n capitol. But we do know that
he has a very robust play sheet. Sometimes that play
sheet once again has caused some difficulties with the offensive

(17:26):
ability to stay in rhythm. So I've come up with
this idea where Sean Payton could come up with a
certain section of plays right, because every coach has somewhat
of a two minute offense and a four minute offense, right,
And I'm thinking, okay, well, why don't we run the
two minute offense more frequently? And I got the perfect

(17:49):
name for it. We call the package Ricky Bobby Right.
I want to go fast, right, And that's exactly what
bo Nicks in his offense wants to do. And and
they've proven it time and time again that they have
the capabilities of going fast right.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
But then Sean Payton might not know what to do
with his hands.

Speaker 5 (18:10):
Stick him in your pocket.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Wait, he can stick his right hand in his pocket,
hold the place with his left hands and just say, okay,
Ricky Bobby, play number three. Right. Everyone knows exactly what
they need to do, right, And all Bone needs to
say is hey, Ricky Bobby, plate number three.

Speaker 5 (18:32):
And he may have a couple of call words with that.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Off of that, you know, and you can even using
the whole idea of kind of like Ricky Bobby right,
you can use Sprite or Betty yet momain de Plate
Number three is called mom du Everyone knows what to
do right? Get you get that everyone knows what to

(18:56):
do right?

Speaker 7 (18:58):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Then a taco bell play KFCNYI new yes, just bock
do I have to wear advisor and it'll just cover
up this whole visor like Ricky Bobby's.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
But just think about it in this simplistic form. Here
we have a subset of plays that every single player
knows how.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
To do right'. You've drilled these throughout the week.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Right, and you could take plays that the players already know,
but now you're streamingling it down to just a couple
of plays because you're allowing them to get the play,
understand the play.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
How quickly can we run it?

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Execute it, get positive yards, get back to the hotel,
run it again, and it's base one word. Here's our
Ricky Bobby series. First play Spider Monkey, Right, do.

Speaker 5 (19:45):
You like a spider Man?

Speaker 7 (19:47):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (19:47):
Play number three, I'm do right. Everyone knows exactly what we.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Got the shake and bake you feel me?

Speaker 5 (19:55):
You feel me man?

Speaker 1 (19:56):
How funny would it be on our radio broadcast to
hear that on the hot Mike the field Mike Bonex
is screaming out, Ricky.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
Bobby, I want to go fast now new new.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
I mean we had we had, Peter had, pet Peyton
Manny calling what omah omaha? Right?

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Yeah, why can we not do that?

Speaker 3 (20:13):
And and and it's just the Ricky Bobby series. It
doesn't take Sean Payton away from anything that he's already
created on that waffle house menu, but it allows the
offense to excel and operate and go fast.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Yeah, and we've seen Bonnicks in the offense excel at
going fast and Ricky Bobby style, So I think that
is a good idea. But also I liked what Bonnick
said in this postgame interview with Dave Logan last week
about repeating plays like if something's working, keep going to
the well until.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
It doesn't work anymore.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
Hot damn yes, keep keep doing it like and that
was kind of something that I've seen from Sean, whether
it was with Bowl or whether it was with Russell Wilson.
When the play is successful, you keep running it. That
That was kind of a main staple of Mike Shanahan's
offense because it's like, well.

Speaker 5 (21:05):
They're gonna know we're doing it again. Who cares if
they can't stop it.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Rob Smith says it all the time.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Yeah, we would run the same play over and over
again until the defense proved they could stop it. And
I think there's almost like another you know, you talk
about Sean Payton talks about the culture that they've built
here with the Broncos all the time, and I think
George Payton needs more credit for the players that he's
brought in for that. But it's like you're creating a
culture and your offensive linemen are gonna love that. If
you're running a running play over and over again, smash

(21:32):
mouth football and you're winning every time, like that sets
a culture in its own right, Like you're proving that
you can just dominate this team in the trenches.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
Yes, and here's what you do.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
You're showing a lot of confidence in your offensive line
and say, look, we're gonna go out there, we're gonna
set the tone, we're gonna punch them in the mouth.
Offensive linemen they want to start the game of that
way because they set the tempo right. And then to
run a play constantly over and over and over again.
It's not saying as though, well, these guys are not
smart enough to make changes. But the idea is that

(22:04):
you want to make the guy the game as some
simple as possible, where guys can go out feel confident
about what they're doing, and they can go out and
execute because because at the end of the day, it's
all about execution. How well you executed. Because I don't
know fans. I don't know if you know this, but
maybe a couple of fans do. There's a grading system
right after every game. Coaches go in chart plays either

(22:27):
pup plus minus ma missus simon misalignment right, and you
want to grade out every single time above ninety. You're
not going to grade out one to percent every single time.
But give these guys an opportunity because if you ask
the Broncos office alignment, what would they rather do, more
pass that or run block, They're going to say run
block because you get a chance of fire off.

Speaker 5 (22:48):
And hit someone right in a freaking face.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Yeah, and I don't care what anybody says.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
I know it's an overused adage, but a young quarterback's
best friend is and always has been, a running game.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
Yes, you can get that established early on.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
You're gonna open so much more, so much more of
your evil little genius playbook, your waffle house play card,
because you have to open those holes in the defense
through establishing the running game.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
Yes, and I can tell you this, defensive players, after
a while, the big guys leaning on them, driving them
off the ball right, setting a new line of scrimmage them.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
Dude's gonna be looking to the side lines. Somebody comes,
sell me out and whither And when you see multiple
guys looking to the side line for help, Mama, come
help me. You know what you do. Ricky Bobby, go fast,
you go.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Ricky Bobby on him, can't get off the field.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
I'm done five six, six, nine zero.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
If you want to share your thoughts on the common
Spirit health tech slide about Nick's and Rickey Bobby offense,
He's got the MCGUI for defense, the Rickey Bobby offense,
or just ways you think uh Chom Payton and the
Broncos offense can help bow nixt down this home stretch
of the season trying to stay atop the AFC. A
couple of things from around the league with the Broncos
on their bye week this past weekend that I wanted

(24:06):
to get your thoughts on. First off, this play Jameis
Winston and the New York Giants and Jameis Winston with
a receiving touchdown.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
Winston pumps his right leg, takes the stop play faith,
They run an end around for Rowshewsky who's going to
throw it.

Speaker 5 (24:21):
He does throw it down a little sideline for Winston,
who makes the captain of fifteen. Jamis reaching fighting for
the touchdown.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Paully Coup, I love that call from Bob Papa with
Wfan and New York.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
What do you think about that play?

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Jamis Winston breaking a tackle near the goal line, spinning
off of dude getting into the end zone. Of course
we saw the lines still won in overtime, but that
was a creative play call from Kafka.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
Well, you know what, very creative play call, and that
says a lot about having trust in Faith and Jameis
Winston because that play was almost disrupted.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Yeah, because the the end around guy had to step.

Speaker 5 (25:01):
Up in the podag.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
Yes, he had to say and he stayed with the
play right. And this is one of those things where
if it doesn't go, well, now you're doing too much.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
Let the RJ. Harvey throw back next.

Speaker 5 (25:13):
Yeah, you're doing too much.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
But if I am the Detroit lion defender that was
in that particular play, in that vicinity, and you had
the opportunity to make the play not once but twice,
and on the last effort you got to stick falled
by Jameis Winston. I mean, first of all, we clowning
you in the dB room. We clowning you in the

(25:35):
dB room. Like you let Jameis Winston right? Who who?
He doesn't run a four to three? He run a
slow three. Tom Brady, Yeah, he runs a slow three.
You allow him to stiff you and get into the
ENDZ Come on, man.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Here was Jamis talking about a post gape.

Speaker 7 (25:54):
I like to consider myself an athlete. I believe that
I can make places like that for this team. I
need to play tight end. I can I do whatever
it is that's required for this team to have success.
And I'm grateful that cav gave me an opportunity and
going to trust to me. He gave me a chance,
and sometimes that's all you got to do at the
quarterback position, give you got a chance. Russell Wilson sent

(26:16):
me a picture of doing the Heisman in like a
little gift things called a gift, and I did the Hosman.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
Then we got an end zone. We just didn't win, guys,
we gotta win. Gift Jeff doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
I love you know what people love to hate Russell
Wilson here in Broncos country, and I completely understand that
for his play on the field, But that dude is
an ultimate teammate and so is Jamis Winston.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
And that's what I love to see.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
I think that is so good for Jackson Dark to
see that you can treat someone that you're competing for
a starting job with and get benched for the other guy,
that you can treat them with that amount of respect
and appreciate them when they're doing well.

Speaker 5 (26:57):
I love those two dudes.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
Has to meet Jamis doing my gig with the NFLPA.
Good dude, and everyone wondered how that was gonna work
with those two guys having not the exact type of personalities, right,
but they're like down to earth guys.

Speaker 5 (27:18):
May seem to be a little aloof at times.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Yes, whatever you want to call it, I just say,
but each one of those guys are.

Speaker 5 (27:25):
Being genuinely themselves.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
And you're right, Jackson Dart seeing here are two quarterbacks
who've had success in this league. In their own particular
way now backing one another up, but also backing one
another up to a point of supporting and Russell sending
Jameis Winston a picture of like a heisman Poles. No
one is though, I mean James Winston won a Heisman yep, right,

(27:49):
So he's showing his support even if it's in the background.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
Just like, think about it.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
If if you are in the band and you are
the I guess guitar, us A drummer, bass player, bass player,
no one's really checking for you. Really, everyone check it
checking for the frontman.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
Yeah, the lead singer, Yeah, blay guitar.

Speaker 5 (28:08):
That's right for it.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
But for you to show or flow power in that
particular way is a very powerful thing. And I love
watching these two guys really enjoy whatever limited success that
either one is having on the field.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Another big quarterback story in the NFL this past weekend
Shdor Sanders getting his first start for the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
This was his comments pregame, this is going to be
your first NFL start.

Speaker 5 (28:34):
What does that opportunity to feel like in this moment?

Speaker 2 (28:36):
It feels good.

Speaker 8 (28:37):
But we're cool, were cool, calm, collective life.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
There's that none to us, and what do you hope.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
To show against this Raiders defense, your teammates, yourself, and
these Browns fans with their play.

Speaker 5 (28:49):
Today, I'm who they've been looking for. Appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
I love that going in with the ultimate confidence. You know,
some people may say aloof as well, but then he
goes out on the field and does stuff like this
down to.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Eight, here comes the pressure running away from it as
Sanders he's looking long, He's not a bad god at
the ten yard line, Bonds, he's down on a one
yard line.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Andrews Ciciliana with w k RK in Cleveland and Miles
garrett reaction after that big bomb on third down, I
think said it all for Cleveland Browns players and fans like, oh,
we got a guy that can throw the ball down
the field.

Speaker 5 (29:27):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
I love to see Miles Garrett's reaction, but also his
verbal support of Shador Sanders and this be totally honest.
Was it a perfect game for Shador Sanders? No, Well,
he went out and he showed flashes that he could
be NFL quarterback, something that he was criticized by a

(29:50):
lot of individuals. For some of these individuals, I happen
to know who were former players who played the same position,
but they themselves didn't really So I'm like, well, how
can you criticize someone else, Well, you didn't really excel
at the position. But yet I digress. But this young
man has some talent and some ability. But my problem

(30:13):
with Chador now, as it was with Dylan and it
was with the other thirteen quarterbacks, the organization hasn't done
everything that they could do to put talent around these guys.
When you look at who led the team and receiving,
Dylan Sampson led the team and receiving right well, and most.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Of it was on this one play.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
Yeah, Sador on third down throws at Samson to the
flat Samson.

Speaker 6 (30:42):
Thirty five, Samson forty.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Sampson burst out, he said the rad of thirty five,
it's a put right, He's gone, Dylan Sampson touch down.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Andrew Siciliano with WKRK again on that call.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
And once again it's great that Sampson was there to
make this play, but you're looking for more of the
tight ends and the wide receivers to make plays down
the field, like it was like Jerry Judy had another
catch from Shador that could have set up another score.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
What was he doing on that play his next move?

Speaker 5 (31:17):
Yes, he was trying to give him a heasy move, right.
I understand what he was trying to do.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
But in that case, when you go back and look
at it, the coach is gonna tell him, hey man,
just just keep running through and get as many yards
as you can because he wasn't aware that someone was
coming from behind.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
But once again, the Browns don't.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
They don't have enough offensive firepower at the skilled positions
to help either Shador or Dylan.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
Here were a Shador's postgame comments, as he was not
yet named starter for next week, but he is now
for against the forty nine ers. Here's what he had
to say postgame after that big win, you.

Speaker 8 (31:52):
Gotta go out there and perform like there's no choice
of no question. Nobody cares. If this is when we
could prep, who cares?

Speaker 2 (31:58):
You know?

Speaker 8 (31:59):
So a lot of people wanted to see me feel in.
It ain't gonna happen. You know, it ain't gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
Ain't gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
Jador Sanders with us first win, silent season, hiss haters
for at least one week. We'll see what happens. Next
week we got to hit a break on Broncos Country,
a night on Kawa
