Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thanks so much to Steve Atwater, the Hall of Famer
and Cody Rourke from Mile High Sports joining us earlier
in the program.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
You missed any of that, find it on the.

Free and redesigned iHeartRadio app, where you can now set
Koa as a preset, just like you do in your
car and don't forget. You can also follow us on
all social medias including Instagram at Koa, Colorado and you
gotta go follow our next guest.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
My wife does.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
She's learning a little bit about football just so she
can have some conversations with me.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Nick.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
It's Broncos for Dummies on Instagram. Desiree des gard No,
thanks so much for joining the program tonight.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Oh my gosh, guys, thank you so much for having me.
I'm stop to be here.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
So give us a little background.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
On your Instagram account at Broncos for Dummies, you've built
quite the following. What was the reason you initially started it?
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Yeah, so I actually started it, if you can believe it,
five years ago, and I've always been a fan first
and foremost. But I realized I knew absolutely nothing about
the Denver Broncos, and so I literally googled Bronzos for
dummies and nothing honestly popped up. So I was like,
you know what, I guess I'll create it. So I'm
a fan account first and foremost. I sort of call
(01:12):
myself the spark note for Broncos Country, so I sort
of consider myself a place from where the newest Broncos
fans so the most diheard can get a recap of
what's happening in Broncos news.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
All right, so I have to ask you this particular
question because this is something that we have been going
back and forth all night long.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
She's played the cults on Sunday. Uh huh, you and
your followers, who did your root for? Just let us
know who you root for?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
And why?
Speaker 5 (01:46):
Let us know?
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Okay, I trust me and this this video like people
pop off. I posted a video exactly this because I
didn't know myself, like it's in my DNA. I cannot
root for the cheap. But then again, the Broncos are
a huge physician. So immediately when the game started, I
was like, you know what, I'm going to root for
(02:08):
the Chiefs. I have to put that aside. I'm going
to root for the Chiefs to win. Within two minutes,
I immediately flipped off. I was I can't do it.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Come on, I did the same kill me, I did
the same thing. I was like, I can't root for
the Chiefs if there's still a breath of life in them,
I don't want them sneaking into the playoffs, even if
it does hurt the Broncos atop the AFC standards.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Oh exactly, it was hard. I would have loved to
have that be the gamer. They're officially out, but maybe
we'll see it. I'm giving what a great things giving Melody, you.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Know what you two, and Steve at Water and some
of the people in Broncos Country. I'll throw Cody Rok
in there as well. I can't believe you guys.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
You put your own.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Selfish ambitions over the team. That's not Broncos Country worthy.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
I mean, listen, it's the people. Broncos Country has looked.
Like I said, when I posted it, everyone was like,
you can never root for the chief So that's the
thing is I did pult it. I don't know, man,
it was a definite fifty fifty as far as the
whole temperature of Broncos Country.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
For that game.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Yeah, I agree, And Nick, it seems like everyone is
against you in this So maybe we are the real
Broncos Country.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
We don't have a pulse of the fans like me
and Dez.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Just because you're part of a mob, that doesn't make
you right Grant, it means.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah, we've seen that before.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Desiree des Gardneau our guest on Kawa on Broncos Country tonight.
She has the page Broncos for Dummies. I have to
give you a shout out because you're teaching my wife
about football. You know, you kind of throw the stats
to the side. You just talk about what it means
to be a fan, and I think that's what people forget,
is that it is about being a fan first.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
You know, you hear all.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
This talk about people saying vance Joseph may leave the
Broncos for a head coach after this.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Wait, hold on, why say you hear some people just.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I just want to tell them.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
But I think it's important to live in the moment
as a fan, and I think that's what you do
so well with your pages. You show those honest reactions
to like how you're feeling throughout a game.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Yes, I mean, and that is what I post me
and when I'm watching games, it's the highs, it's the
low And to be honest, that is what makes me
a terrible sports journalist because I don't consider myself one.
I'm a fan for some foremost like I said, but
I can never and like I said, it's in my
DNA to never root for the Chiefs. It's also in
my DNA to be extremely usually optimistic about the Bronxos.
(04:40):
How when I started this five years ago, I said,
they're making it to the super Bowl. And five years
ago we did not make it to the super Bowl.
So it's uh, I say every year and maybe finally
hear will be the year.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
I'm right. Well, let's just say for the sake of argument,
I know we have a long road ahead of us,
let's just say that that is the destiny for this
Broncos team. And knowing as though a rookie or sophomore
quarterback and a sophomore year kind of being part of
a team getting them back to the super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (05:10):
In your opinion, what would that do for you?
Speaker 4 (05:13):
But more Paulie, what do you think that would do
for the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Hey, it's the new era. I mean we have people,
we have new fans. Part of Broncos Country that, if
you can believe it or not, we're not around to
the twenty fifteen Super Bowl era. So I think it's
amazing whether new Broncos fans are just young enough that
they're able to see this winning Broncos team. I mean,
I grew up, my parents raised me and watching the
(05:41):
Denver Broncos. I was just young enough to watch them
go to our first two Super Bowls and in Denver,
as you know right now, as the Nuggets the Broncos,
we are a Denver city thrown through that we win.
We have exceptional teams, and it was a rough ten years.
I think the fact that go Nicks is taking us
(06:01):
to this yet again new era history repeat itself and
I'm happy to be back here. And you that's what
it would do for me. Oh my god, my confidence
sky high. And you're like, well, she doesn't even play
for the Broncos. Technically I do. I'm the twelfth man
out there, all right.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
I love that bringing the fan experience to all with
our page Broncos for Dummies, does do you have a
parting message for Broncos Country, Uh, what they should be
looking out for or what their confidence level should be
for the rest of this Broncos season.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
We already made it through the hardest, in my opinion,
the hardest part of the schedule. We were up against
the two Super Bowl the two team to win to
the Super Bowl. We not only defeated the Super Bowl
champ in home at their home stadium, we also defeated
the Chiefs, and now they can no longer stay well.
You know it was a block girl we beat by
(06:56):
block thig or you know what, you beat us back
and stringers. We'd beat the Chief farent square with a
few of our top players out. And this is a
new era for Broncos country, so everyone's get on board.
Is a great time to be a Broncos fan.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Well, we appreciate your time tonight, Dez. And uh do
you have a party message for Nick Ferguson.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, Nick, I'm not only I'm not only a huge
fan of the Broncos. I also do my research because
I try not to look too much like a dummy.
And I saw that it might be your birthday on Thursday,
so I wanted to wish you a very happy birthday.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
Yeah, thank you for that one.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
No, no, no, definitely really appreciate that every day I
get a chance to wake up above ground is a
day to do. I'll say, God's work, so I appreciate it.
Thank you for wishing me a happy.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Birthday, Yang brother of course. Well you guys have a
great night. Thanks for bringing me on you too.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Maybe we'll have to have you back on after the
Broncos bring home that Lombardi.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Trophy this year.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Why not?
Speaker 5 (07:59):
Why not?
Speaker 1 (08:00):
A right?
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Thanks so much?
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Does have a great rest of your night in happy holidays.
I right you too, Desirae des ganou Garna, get her
name right, Pret's some respect on it, Come on anyway.
She has a page Broncos for Dummies on Instagram. Great
follow especially if you're a fan of the Broncos or
if you just want to learn a little bit more
(08:21):
about the game.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
I think it's so cool. You know, everyone hated on the.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Travis Kelsey Taylor Swift thing in Kansas City, but it
brought a whole new fan base to the sport that
we all love so much. And I think anything that
can bring new fans to the NFL is a good thing.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Well that's what the NFL it was thinking, anyway, I mean,
because they love the Tavior Swift bump.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
Right, because that's branding.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
That's another faction of fans that you can kind of,
you know, pull in, and you see it all the time,
and this is why it kind of fees into everyone's
kind of ten to four a hat conspiracy theory about
how the game is called against the Chiefs in favor
(09:04):
of the Chiefs, and listen, man, I get it. And
that's another that's another reason why playing in Kansas City
is tough.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
It's it's it's a ruckus crowd. It's really loud.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
But it's one thing to play against the team. It's
another thing to play against the team and the other guys.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Team.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Yeah, yeah, the extra team, you know, the other team
that the league can, I guess officially find me for
even bringing it up, because I'm no longer part of
a team.
Speaker 5 (09:36):
Right, So it's it's one.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Of those things that I and I understand it, and
I understand the league trying to explore or pull in
more more fans, but still at the same time, man,
it becomes a distraction from me during your football game.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
And I like Taylor Swift.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
I like him, I like her music, but it's just
like if I'm trying to watch the game, NBC Liker
to Rico Chris Collins, I want to watch the game
panning to the box.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
We know who's in the.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Box even and that raiders Brown's game yesterday. Man, they
showed coach Prime a lot well.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
With things being the way that they are, and normally
that doesn't happen.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
Knowing as though you're looking at who.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Shia door Sander's father is the situation he was in,
sitting there to be selected in the fifth round, and
everyone has their take as far as how that went down,
I still think it was unfair and to add insult
to injury. He was there for almost six months with
the Cleveland Browns offense, even if Joe Flaker was gone, right,
(10:43):
and no reps, not even one, no, Like, I understand
that a backup quarterback is not going to get as
much as the starting quarterback.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
But man, you got two rookies, like, give them both
a little little time, thank you.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
I was on I was on KOI Sports Week. We're
doing a King Super's Full giveaway food drive, and I'm
trying to tell Ryan and Dave Logan that same thing,
because you know, Dave was saying, okay, well, Traditionally the
backup doesn't get doesn't receive a lot of reps, which
is true, right, but what you said, I tried to
(11:19):
explain to them. You have two rookies, one drafted in
the third one drafted in the fifth round.
Speaker 5 (11:25):
Neither one has a lot of experience.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
And it's not like either one was a top five pick,
right like your next franchise guy.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
So you want to make sure that you get both
of those guys up to speed. And also, Bailey Zappi
was on that team, so that means to me, Dylan
Gaber was getting some snaps, Bailey Zappie was getting some
Trador The only snaps he was getting those scout team
and that is not enough. That is not enough to
go into an NFL game and expect to that guy
(11:54):
to compete at a high level when he When you're
not getting those types of reps.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
It feels it's like Kevin Stefanski really hates you.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Door Sanders Like I don't have any inside information.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
But man, like you're not even gonna give the dude
he was.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
The first rookie quarterback for the Brown since nineteen ninety
five to win their first starting game, Like you're not
going to give that dude.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
A game ball afterwards.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
I know the offense, Yeah it wasn't right, right, but like,
come on, man, that is a new level of petty.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
He was like, great job defense, Yeah, a good, great
job winning a game. And you know what, Miles, Garrett
and Shade, thank you for, you know, participating the defense.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
That's exactly how it was. So I don't know.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
What's going on and what is what's going on with
that dynamic and what's happening inside the building, but for
everyone on the outside looking in, it looks like something
is wrong, that someone.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
Is doing something.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
And someone would say, once again, this is ten four
hat theory. Why would a team or cod who was
the coach of the year kind of I guess self sabotage, right,
And usually it seemed like a dirty word when you
talk about sports or any occupational job. Well, I'm here
(13:14):
to let you know that that happens. I've been a
part of it. I've been a part of it multiple times.
So there is a sense of self sabotage because sometimes.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
People like who they like. But if you're going to
be that way, at least keep it a bucket.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Say it, yeah, how much do you think this has
to do with You know, you heard the reports coming
out when Shador was drafted in the fifth round that
the Browns coaching staff did not want him, and it
was the ownership and the GM that came down and said,
we want you to take Shador Sanders with your fifth
round pick. How much of that is like Kevin Stefanski saying,
I didn't want this guy in the first place, so
(13:50):
I'm not even going to give him a chance to
succeed here.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
Well, I've seen it before, so that wasn't a new
to me.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
But for those who are not part of the initiated,
they're just saying, you know what, Oh, that's just fluff,
that doesn't make any sense. You know, you're just throwing
stuff out there just to see if it's thick, right,
And I'm like, no, I've seen it happen. I've seen
players who I felt that should not be on the
NFL roster on the NFL roster because guess what, someone
(14:19):
vouched for him. And because they vouch for him, they
have to make themselves right even when they're wrong. So
this situation is no different. But it's just like the
dye has been cast, and even after the game, Kevin
Savanski was short to even say or suggest that Shadeor
would be the starting quarterback, Like, dog, it don't take
(14:39):
you that long to kind of figure it out. Are
you not reading.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
The pulse of the room right or the fan base
read the room?
Speaker 5 (14:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Well, one guy you mentioned it earlier when we first
brought this subject up.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Miles Garrett was voicing his support post game.
Speaker 6 (14:54):
I mean, he put it up and I'm just like,
oh god, who was that even going to? I wasn't
looking down there to cip and then and I'm just
looking him like, oh god, please, and he drops it
in the bucket and he.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
Reaches it out.
Speaker 6 (15:05):
I'm like, please, just don't fumble into the end zone.
And I'm just like, wow that there's not any guys
in lead that can make that throw. So then that
does a hell of the throw. Now, I hope he
can continue to grow and develop, you know, for making
plays like that, and uh, don't take it from there.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
So not everyone hates Shador Sanders in Cleveland, on that
coaching staff and with the players, But we'll see how
he looks with another week to prepare. We got an
NFL six back when we come back on Broncos Country
tonight on KOA alongside my guy Nick Ferguson. Thanks to
the Hall of Famer Steve Atwater for joining us in
the first hour, Cody Rourke and Desirae des Garneault in
(15:43):
the last segment. She is the founder of the Broncos
for Dummies page on Instagram. It is a great follow
especially for you new Broncos fans. You can realize why
you never root for the Chiefs unless you're Nick Ferguson.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
We mean that's whom Nick vera. Nick Ferguson rooted for
the outcome of the game. I wasn't necessarily waiving a
Chiefs banner.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
I'm rooting for the outcome.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
You aren't part of Chiefs Kingdom on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Know why because I put the team over myself, unlike
you and some other people.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
I actually am just giving you a hard time. I
agree with you, it's just hard man, Like, why did.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
You say that Steve was in here because you I
was split.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
I told you in the first segment. I was split.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
You don't want the Chiefs to make the playoffs, and
that felt like a game that was really gonna knock
them out, like it was gonna be almost mathematically impossible
for them to make the playoffs if they lose that
game to the Colts. And to be honest, I got
PTSD with the Chiefs. So it's just like it's like
every year if they go, if they're gonna find a
way in, they got a chance to win it all.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
Let me help you out really quickly.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Typically in our society, there are three ways to answer something, yes, maybe,
and no.
Speaker 5 (17:01):
You remove the middle man. There's no maybe, is that
yes or no? And this Yes.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
We all in on the Broncos. So let's let all
that Kansas City stuff go. We are rooting for them
and anything that propels them.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
For Okay, you're bringing me around. You're gonna be feeling
twenty two for your birthday.
Speaker 5 (17:22):
Yes, I always feel that way.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
You know, Taylor Swift and you same same level of
Chiefs fandom right there, So.
Speaker 5 (17:30):
I would not call me the same.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Without further ado, I'm getting thirsty. Let's get to the
NFL six pack. It's time for the NFL six path.
Speaker 6 (17:40):
I'm gonna traf insight and insight information you can't find
anywhere else. No.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Six, the top six NFL headlines.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
What well, I'm hosting the show, so you knew how
I was gonna start with this one. Joe burrows status
for a Thursday Night is tv D. At one point
last week, the signs were porting toward Bengals quarterback Joe
Burrow returning for Sunday's game against the Patriots after two
straight days of full participation practices.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Something changed.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
By Friday, Joe Flacco got the starter reps in order
to get him ready for the Week twelve contest with
New England. Burrow ultimately wasn't activated from injured reserve. One
theory was that, speaking of Nick Ferguson's ten foil hat,
with two games only four days apart, the Bengals decided
to wait until Thanksgiving night for Burrow's return. That said,
(18:32):
it's still not certain whether Burrow will play and against
the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night Thanksgiving. For a source
with knowledge of the situation, nothing is set in stone.
Burrough's status for the Week thirteen game as TBD based
on how his body respawns after recent and upcoming practice time.
Burrow wants to play, but there's a bigger consideration. Three
(18:54):
and eight Bengals are facing a very small chance of making.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
It to the postseason.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Would you play Joe Burrow this week on Thanksgiving against
the Ravens or at any point throughout the rest of
the season.
Speaker 5 (19:07):
I'm gonna say no.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
And the reason I say no looking at where the
Bengals find themselves.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
I mean, that doesn't really change the situation. They're three
and eight.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
What are the odds that somehow Burrow comes back and
they won the table in a massive way to overtake
Pittsburgh all the Baltimore Ravens beyond her. Yeah, I don't
think so, And I don't throw him out there to
the Wolves because the Bengals need Joe Burrow moving forward,
not Joe Flacco.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Yeah. I actually agree with you on this, But how
much is that? You know, Joe Burrow carries a lot
of weight. Franchise quarterback, led him to a Super Bowl,
should have one MVP last year if his team was
a little bit better. I mean, if he wants to
play and he says I want to play, you gotta
let him play, right, No, you don't.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
There's nothing the contract saying I have to let you play.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Because, once again, think about your and think about the
future and how they've been avoid a quarterback before Joe
Burrow kind of came alive with the organization.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
Do you or would you want to risk that now?
I wouldn't want to risk that.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
I do not want to risk Let's give it another
shot next year.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Two.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Nick Sirianni disagrees with Saquon Barkley's belief that the Cowboys
wanted it a little more. After Sunday's twenty four to
twenty one loss to the Cowboys, during which the Eagles
blew a twenty one to nothing lead, Philadelphia running back
Saquon Barkley said of the opponents, they wanted it a
little more. Meeting with reporters on Monday, coach Nick Sirianni
(20:41):
was asked about Berkley's perception. He said, obviously, we want
to go out and put our best effort out at
every point, and I felt like when I watched the tape,
I saw the effort sky high on both sides of
the ball and on special teams. Obviously they went and
they got the win. There are always things that factor
into it. As far as our determination, our effort, I
saw that it was high, and we all have to
(21:02):
be there.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
I think, like I said, we were.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Obviously Saquon felt something last night, and he's got a
great pulse for everything.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
But as you look at the tape.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Which obviously after the game, we don't have the luxury
of looking at the tape before we go in and
talk to you guys, but I felt like the effort was.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Really, really high in that game.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Are you agreeing with Nick Sirianni or Saquon Barkley that
the Cowboys wanted it a little bit more?
Speaker 4 (21:26):
I'm gonna agree with Saquon Barkley because in a statement.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
From the coach, he used the word high too many.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Times, right, see too high?
Speaker 5 (21:34):
He might be too.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
High because when you look at the twenty one points
that Philly scored before, they have to me looked like
it was going to be a blowout because the score
was twenty one seven and the scene had the offense
pissed a dub brot. But I mean, my duve means zero,
no points in the third quarter, no points in the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
So Saquan is absolutely right.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
It seemed as though the Cowboys wanted a lot more
because they scored seventeen points to the Eagles zero.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
What a comeback though for Brian Schottenheimer and the Cowboys,
like that's a big time win for them. They've had
their struggles this year, but you can see that culture
starting to shift. And man, George Pickens, it looks like
he's overtaken Ceedee lamb As is the number one wide
receiver in Dallas.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
I think they have to sign him back next year.
Speaker 5 (22:20):
Well, all rows lead.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
To signing George Pickens back because every wide receiver one
needs a wide receiver.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Two to make their lives much easier.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
And regardless of what happened with the Cowboys this season,
Jerry has starting to put someone of a team together,
especially bringing over Quinn and Williams using that draft pick
from the Michael Parsons trade. So it may not be
twenty twenty five for the Cowboys, the year might.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
Be twenty twenty six.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Well, Cowboys fan every year.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
Yes, right, every year.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Agree Max Crosby on the firing of Chip Kelly.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
We needed to make a change on.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Sunday night, the Raiders fired first year offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.
On Monday defensive end Max Crosby, the best player on
their roster and current face of the franchise, address the move.
Chip's a guy that I've had a lot of respect
for from Afar and what he has done over his career.
Everyone knows that. Growing up, I was a big Buckeye fan.
My dad is a huge Ohio State fan, and so
(23:19):
them winning the national championship last year, I was super
excited about.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
Him coming here.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
When Chip was here, he was always good to me
and we had a cool relationship. Unfortunately, this is just
a production based business, and if the offense is struggling,
you know, I feel like it's just it comes down
to it's production. At the end of the day, the
offense has been struggling, and felt like, you know, we
needed to make a change.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
So that's above my pay grade.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
But at the end of the day, I wish the
best for Chip and I know he'll be back doing
his things soon. Do you agree with Max Crosby they
needed to make a change firing offensive coordinator Chip Kelly
And how much was he to blame for the Raiders struggles?
And it seems like Pete Carroll's just firing everybody. Get
rid of the special teams coordinator, get rid of the.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Offensive coordinator, as long as he keeps his job.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
Well grand this seems to be a solution that takes
place in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
All the time, and.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Individuals don't fire themselves, so they look around the room
to see who else that they can fire. Was the
firing of Schip Kelly justifiable?
Speaker 5 (24:17):
Some would say it was. I would tell you that
it's not.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
How can you go out and have great offensive production? Well,
you don't have brock Bauers for half of the season,
you chewate Jakobe Myers, you don't have any offensive skilled players.
You draft asking gents in the first.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
Round and you surrounded him by what.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Not much?
Speaker 5 (24:40):
Not much?
Speaker 4 (24:41):
So you want to blame chip Kelly for the offensive walls.
I think this goes deeper than chip Kelly. It goes
back to a personnel situation. But those individuals in charge
of personnel, they're not firing themselves.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
That's very true.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
And Jacoby Myers are former number one wide receiver, got
his first down, first touchdown catch of the season. All
it took was him getting traded to another team.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Four bail is set.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
For Chauncey Billups at five million dollars. The NBA's latest
gambling scandal has resulted in one of the league's head
coaches being released.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
On an eye popping bail figure. Via NBC News.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Dot Com, Portland Trailblazers coach Chauncey Billups, after pleading not
guilty to his role in an allegedly rigged, mafia backed
poker game, was released on the aforementioned five million dollar bail.
Phillips is charged with wirefraug conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy.
The conditions of the bond release prevent him from having
contact with witnesses, victims, co conspirators and coke defendants, which
(25:43):
is pretty standard issue. The prosecutor handling the case confirmed
in court that plea negotiations with several of the thirty
one defendants are taking place.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
What do you make of the latest news with Chauncey
Billups and the five million dollar bail man?
Speaker 4 (25:58):
This is still hard to digest because his tossy doesn't
seem like this type of a person.
Speaker 5 (26:06):
And I mean, obviously you had to think about it.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
On the surface, he was going to suggest, through his attorney,
will a plea of not guilty, But you charged with.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
Fraud, money laundry, right, and I.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
Guess a slew of other things. But this is very,
very tough. But I'm always a fan of allowing the
process to take place and work through itself. Before accusing
anyone of anything.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Yeah, and it sat until proven guilty. Right, It seems
like we've kind of reversed that in today's culture, you're
guilty until proven in US.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
Well, that's what it was when I was growing up.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
That you know.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
It's even tougher here in Colorado with him being such
a legend, yeah, in the sports scene here.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
So hopefully it.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
All plays out for the best for Chauncey Billups, but
not looking great right now.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
Five also not looking great.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
Sticking with basketball news, nuggets fans worst Aaron Gordon nightmare
becomes reality with his injury update. Nuggets got hit with
some tough news on Sunday morning after that loss to
the Kings, learning that Aaron Gordon suffered a Grade two
hamstring strain and will be reevaluated reevaluated.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
In four to six weeks.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Ag went down with the injury on Friday night while
driving to the basket in the opening minutes of their
win over the Rockets. Gordon has battled soft tissue injuries
to his calves and hamstrings for what feels like forever,
played through that Grade two strain last year in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Man gutted it out.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Who's left hamstring and against that thunder in that series.
He has also been managing bilateral hamstring issues this season
and had already sat out a game. What do you
think of this latest injury news for the Nuggets and
trying to take a positive twist on this story, do
you think it could be a blessing in disguise They
can get some of those role players ready for a
(27:54):
stretch run into the playoffs, and because you know what.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Aaron Gordon's going to be when that time comes around.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
Yeah, this was side because I know Aaron Gordon worked
this offseason really hard on his preimeaterve shooting, and you
saw from the preseason to the beginning of the season
a lot of that came to fruition where he was
able to knock down consecutive three point shots building his confidence.
And not having Aaron Gordon on the court not only
takes away from the Nuggets from the offensive side, but on.
Speaker 5 (28:21):
The defensive side.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
He is one of the well he is the Nuggets
defense in that regard.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
So now this is.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
Going to force the guys who are on the bench
and those role players to step it up, and he's
gonna give Peyton Watson more of an opportunity to really shine.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
I saw that career high from t Watt the other
night with thirty two points.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
We're gonna need more of that.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
The Nuggets want to stay atop those standings in the
Western Conference.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Six miss the button there for a second.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Last story wrapping up the six pack. The Colorado Buffalo's
get beat down by the Arizona State Side Devils on
Saturday forty two to seventeen. What's next for the CU
Buffs and Boulder, Man, it just feels like it keeps
getting worse every week.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
Well, the only thing that you can do, man, is
move move forward. This sea this season is a wash.
The idea of getting to back to back Bowl games,
that's not gonna happen. So Coach Prime and his staff
they have to go back to the drawing ball where
they thought that they made the right corrections.
Speaker 5 (29:28):
As far as officsive line.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Was concerned, it seems as though it's not a complete
cycle just yet, and the team needs to get more
striysical up.
Speaker 5 (29:38):
Front because they don't run the ball.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
But obviously it tells you that hey, change is coming
because they need a new officive coordinator as well.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Yeah, they were already removed play calling duties for Pat Shermer.
And on the bright side, Juju Lewis does look like
he's got what it takes to be a quarterback out
of top school in college football. Like he's young still,
like what just turned eighteen?
Speaker 2 (30:01):
I think, so you've.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Got you got three more years of him progressing hopefully.
I think I think there's still a bright side for
CU fans going forward, just obviously not this year.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
Yeah, it is definitely a bright side grant, but it
starts with recruiting and bringing the right guys in here
made of the right stuff, because no quarterback can't succeed
unless you have a run game, a great play call,
a decent great play call.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
You would want a great play caller.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
But also at the same times, you need skilled players
who are going to strain to make plays for you,
And right now I don't see that with the Bucks.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
We are always making place for us here on Broncos
Country to night, Nick, thanks for making the DC as
always as I got to fill in for.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
Ben tonight, so appreciate you about brother.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
That's it for Broncos Country tonight. You've been back Tomorrow night.
I'll talk to you then as well. On Broncos Country
Night on KOA E fifty AM ninety four to one FM.
Speaker 6 (30:58):
A lot of people want to see me.
Speaker 5 (30:59):
Feel that ain't gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
I did the hospital, Rischie Bobby A spider mouses that's
too high.
