Speaker 1 (00:00):
Nick, how are you man?
Speaker 2 (00:01):
What's going on? Grant? We'll get a chance to do this, uh,
well more again.
Speaker 3 (00:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
It feels like about once a week nowadays. Yeah, I
like it. I was like, Ben, go ahead and call
out sick. I'll handle the show tonight, no worries, Yes.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Sir man, there's a lot to get into obviously. If
you're driving around a Dinver metro area, please look out
for your fellow driver and slow to hell down.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
How was uh? I've been here for a while today,
so how was the drive in? Just now?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
It was slow and steady, like a tortoise race.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Yeah, no one being crazy, We're sweet well, swerving in
and out of traffic or anything.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
I would love to tell you Grant that that was true,
but you know how.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
That happens in a my Ohi city.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Anytime we get inclement weather, that doesn't mean slow down,
that means speed up.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
I was talking about this when I was in South
Carolina over the Thanksgiving weekend. It's like, when it rains here,
people freak out and slow down because they're not used
to it. But when it snows here, it feels like
they just go faster. Terrifies me.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
It seems though.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
That is kind of the way that Denver drivers are,
you would think with colder weather and the roads being
a little slick, and it's their slick when it rains
to as well. But when it snows, it's what lies underneath, right,
does that head?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Nice?
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:23):
That?
Speaker 2 (01:25):
And once you start hitting that and it's sliding, hey.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Man, you don't stop until you run into something else.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
So it literally pump your brakes and slow down.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Oh my god. There's this great account on Instagram, and
remember you can always follow the station at KWA Colorado,
but it's called I seventy Things and it just shows
people doing crazy stuff on the highway. And there was
a video I think it was from Thanksgiving weekend of
this car going from the far left lane all the
way over to the right lane, trying to pass a
couple of other cars and slid in the snow off
(01:58):
off the side of the road and then somehow, I
don't know how, by the grace of God, swerved back
onto the road and then straightened back out and then
slowed way down. They're like, oh, had I come to
Jesus moment and I'm gonna slow down on the roads now,
so don't let it get to that. Just start out slow,
you'll get where you need to get. It'll take a
couple more minutes, but you'll get there safely.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Well how about this, how about just leave a little early, right?
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Yes, that's what I did today exactly.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
I did the same thing.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah, after shoveling some snow. Yeah, that's why I'm standing today.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Oh that's where you're standing.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
My back I feel like you. I don't have any
NFL injuries, but man, bending over shoveling that snow today,
my back is barking.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
See for those who don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Usually I would stand in the studio because I got
this siding nerve issue that's kind of kicking my you
know what. So I would be forced to stand at times.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
But now.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Standing now, that says you SA another day older and
shoffling snow. I just am not. I'm not back in
the groove yet. You know, it'd been like two hundred
and thirty days since we had measurable snow falling Denver.
It just wasn't ready.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
So to put it in sports term, you were in
the preseason phase of shoveling snow.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
I needed more of a preseason game than the seven
or eight inches of snow that I got at my
house today. I needed a light dusting. I won a
two inch that I could have shovel instead of that
heavy wet snow of almost you know a foot.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Well, you know what, here's what happens should happen now,
your issues with your back is shoveling snow. Should incentivize
you grad to have some kids so they can get
out there and shovel the snow.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
We're working on it. Yeah, we're practicing, We're putting in
the effort.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Yeah it's okay.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Maybe I'm selling my preseason phase for that five six,
six nine zero The Covied Spirit Health text line from
the three zero three big accident or roadwork on Central
Park Avenue south of I seventy on that bridge, So
keep an eye out for that if you're out on
the roads. We'll get an update with traffic and news
at the bottom of the hour with Dave O'Brien and
(04:08):
Connor Shreeve. I believe big show tonight. We got Paul Charcion,
our fantasy expert, coming up at six thirty. Sean Keeler
from the Denver Post gonna talk a little cu buffs
wrap that season up with us at seven thirty five,
and then our favorite breemates that's gonna wrap up the
show at eight thirty. How's your fantasy team looking, Nick
(04:29):
oh Man. We are six and seven right now, So
are you on the edge of the playoffs?
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah, we are teetering on the edge.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
And here's the fust frustrating thing about fantasy football. You
play an individual one week and you don't know if
they're gonna get injured or not.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
That's something that you can't factor in.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
But then they're not getting the touches and carries that
you need, especially if you in the PPR league. Then
that week that you start there, they give you nothing, nothing,
the week that you sit him on the bench dager wards,
and then you put him back in the line of
the following.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Week, thank you for you nothings?
Speaker 2 (05:08):
You crazy.
Speaker 6 (05:09):
Well.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
The frustrating part for me is I used to be
in a lot of leagues. I've cut it down to
two the past couple of years. Good for you, much better,
But you would be playing you'd be rooting for a
guy on your team in one league, and then in
the other league you'd be playing against him. So you're like,
it's like a catch twenty two. You're like, well, I
want him to do good to win this one, but
if he does two good, then I'm gonna lose in
(05:30):
my other league.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
You know what here, I went through that a couple
of weeks ago when Ashton Genty played the Broncos on
Thursday night, Right, So I got the Broncos defense and
I'm thinking like, ah, yeah, you know what, I don't
think this is a good matchup for Asson Genty, so
I'm not gonna start him. But I totally understand what
(05:51):
you're dealing with because you run into it where you're
ultimately you're trying to win, Right, that's the overall go
But Here's is a great thing about what the league
just did, and he did it to me and you
and everyone else was playing fantasy football, is that even
if there is a rival team that you feel as
though you were not supposed to root for, and you
(06:13):
had that player on your team and you'll seeking to
get into the playoffs and win the games.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
You might have to cheer for that guy.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
I've been cheering for bron Bowers all year. I hope
he has two touchdowns again this week against the Broncos
and the Broncos have six or seven touchdowns, so we
win fourteen or something, but a couple of bron Bowers touchdowns.
You mentioned the Broncos defense, I've had them as I
took my defense way too early in both my fantasy
drafts this year, and I've been riding with the Broncos
(06:42):
defense all year long. Alex Singleton was talking about the
end of game against the Commanders on Sunday night and
just their overall defensive mindset on a DMVR podcast. I
want to get your thoughts on this as a defensive
guy and see what you think about what he had
to say once.
Speaker 5 (06:57):
They scored, it was like, hey, they scored, They're going
for two. Like, we still have a chance no matter what,
to win this game. So let's, you know whatever, if
it's us versus then we would take us every single
time at the line ser yard line against any team
in the world at any time and know we're going
to win. And I think that's just the mindset we
have in the mindset that we you know, played with.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
I mean, that's a powerful mindset right to have as
a defense. It wasn't their best game against the Commanders,
but it seemed like every time I mean Alex Singleton
had that big pass breakup late in the game and
the Nick Benito on that two point conversion when I
was I was on the plane back from South Carolina,
and you saw about twenty people raise their arms all
at once because they saw what I saw with Benito
blocking that pass, but he that dude for the Commanders
(07:39):
was wide open. And if Benito doesn't make that play,
Broncos lose that game.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
All right.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
So you can find this play because I broke it
down and Nick ferguson underscore twenty five on X And
it's funny because I don't want to say I have
some new found friends, but I knew I have some
new found criticizers. And I guess I feel a little
like Benjamin Albright in this regard because they're coming at
(08:05):
me based on what I post on this particular play
where I was showing how treylon Berg's and Deebo Samuels
both players took a bee line towards telln't know Funga
and try to disrupt him for kind of covering McNichols
out of the backfield. Yeah, to see, well, in the
case of the Commanders fan, they said that I am
(08:29):
being a Broncos homer, and I'm not looking with the
right glasses to determine that both of those wide receivers
were in fact running routes and they are allowed there
are mono space on the field to run said routes.
I said, well, that's why I broke it down so
diligently like I did, and I show screenshots magnifying so
(08:52):
you can see that I'm just not making.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
This up right, It's right there in front of it.
There are a couple of plays in that game that
would looked like pretty pick plays.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Well, well you had that play and then on the
Terry McLaurin touchdown right the one before it was a
design pickplay.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
And I'm like, come on, man, So I said, I don't.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
I'm thinking to myself, I don't want to say this
because I've never said it to anyone, but I'm sitting
there watching these kind of angry tweets at me, and
I was like, dude, you know I played right.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
You know I coached, so I know what I'm talking about.
I know what I'm seeing.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
So someone went as far as to send me a
quote of the rule itself, because you can't if the
ball is thrown behind the line of scrimmage within one yard,
you can set somewhat of a pick.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
True enough, those passes were not behind, Donna spermitt.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
No, you see the chief cell lot of times take
advantage of that rule. Yes, these were not thrown behind
the line of scrimmage. There's obvious. And it seems like
every time the Broncos do that, whether it's questionable or not,
it's getting called on them, Like, I just want to
see it be called fair both ways.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Well in fairness, and I said, this is some of
the Commanders fan.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
If we can't agree on those who play those two
plays being considered pick plays, here's what we can agree
on is that that game was not officiated as well
as it should have been on either side of the ball.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
I would agree with that, yes, yeah, And it seems
like that's the case a lot of games that I've
watched this year, not just Broncos games, it seems like
there's been more miss calls, Like you hear the referee
expert come in and be like, yeah, that was clearly
he shouldn't have been a penalty, or that's against the
rules to even make that call. And it was like
three times at the end of the Commander's Broncos game,
they brought in I forget who it was, maybe Mike Pereira,
(10:38):
but he said like three times He's like, yeah, you
can't even make that call in that situation.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
I think they call Mario de four intentionally grounding and
stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Yeah, and it once again for me, I'm a stickle
for the rules no matter what team is on the field.
And this is why Grant I.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Would like to see the Broncos start fast.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
And expand their lead to twelve to fourteen points and
then keep that going throughout the fourth quarter, because all
these close wins all be it great, albeit the fact
that they are able to close them out with a
great defensive stop getting the ball back to the offense
either they score or Will Lutz kicks a field goal.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
It concerns me because what if you're in a close
game and then official goes the call right.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
And we've seen that with Sean Payton's history with.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Yes, yes, and I don't want to have revisionist history,
but I still like to think that some of those
officials are maybe league officials, maybe still harboring some ill
will feeling yes from Bounygate.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Again, Sean Payton can certainly rub some people the wrong way, right.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
So this is why I am pushing for the Broncos
to win by more than the average points that they win,
because to me, it's like the setup, it's a close game.
Like alexanders To said, well, he trusts himself and his
teammates versus anyone in that particular situation, So do I.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
But I don't trust the officials, right, I mean, we've
seen it with Riley Moss at the end of game
a couple of times, yes, And it's just it's scary
that you know, you can do everything right on the
defensive side of the ball, but if they made that call,
they're not reversing it.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
And yes, I'm glad you brought up the situation with
Rally Moss because if other teams are reading the scouting report,
they've seen how the season has been officiated thus far.
Who's to say it's less than a minute remaining in
the game, right, and they take a shot down the
field and it's an underthrown ball and then the receiver
(12:47):
jumps into Rally Moss. You put the ball at the
spot of the file. Now they're at the five yard line.
We saw something similar to that, like in the Giants game, right,
And to me, it's just like, oh my god, I
mean really, and you would hate to lose a pivotal
game with playoff implications for some bs like that.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Yeah, and this game against the Raiders has a lot
of playoff implications. You wouldn't think about that playing a
team like the Raiders with two wins on the year.
But if the Broncos win this game, the common opponent
tiebreaker with the Patriots if they beat the Raiders again,
because the Raiders beat the Patriots in the first game
of the season, they will be six and zero against
common opponents, which would give them the tie breaker for
(13:30):
the number one seed if they both end up with
the same record at the end of the year.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
And I'm sure Pete Carroll is telling his team that
that's going to be play of emphasis because you look
at the Commander's game. They were three and eight right now.
Albeit you can say that Marcus Mariot is probably a
better quarterback than Geno Smith, and that's up for debate,
(13:54):
but that team is three and eight. They pushed the
Broncos to the break.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
We got to give the Commander some credit for the.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
Absolutely absolutely, because right after the game, I tweeted, I
don't want to hear a freaking person locally and nationally
to say, well, the Broncos will play you down to
their opponent.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
No, your opponent's gonna play up to you exactly. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
And I mean, like we know Ben who's not here tonight,
he's out sick. I'm Grant Smith filling in for him. Brian,
we see your text on the text signe. Then we'll
be back when he's feeling better. But like that, that game,
in my mind, showed me how much dan Quinn's players
respected him as a coach. Like he was, he had
them ready to roll. Cliff Kingsbury had a great game
(14:38):
plan against the Broncos, three game play and they showed
up for him. And I love that they went for
two with your three and eight team, no choice, you
gotta go for it in that game at home. I mean,
if you tie it and Broncos go back down and
kick a field goal with no time left, I mean,
that's a loser's mentality. I love that they went for two.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
Well, and to be totally fair, and I put this
in my my tweet at Nick ferguson Underscore twenty five
that the chess match between Vance Joseph and Cliff Kingsbury
it was on and then I'm mistaking both of these
guys coached in Arizona together, right, And setting up to
(15:17):
that potential two point conversion was that the fact that
the Commanders two plays prior to that, they tested out
the defenses of the defense by getting in the shotgun
offsets formation sending McNichols to the flat, but both times
it was to the right, not to the left, so
(15:38):
they tried to disguise it.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
By going out in empty formation, motioning.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
Him back in the backfield to the right hand side
of the field so they could identify it.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
And it's bloody brilliant who's in coverage, so you know
which guy you need to pick.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
You're using bloody brilliant. You don't even have your picky
blinders hat on today like yaid yesterday. I love that's
funny because, like you know, I've always been a huge
fan of the game and watched NFL for my entire life.
But working with guys like you and Ben and Ryan
and Dave and Rick Lewis, I'm learning all the little
nuances to the game. Like you were talking about like
(16:13):
setting up those plays earlier in the game and then
they go back to it and it is wide open
without a great play by Nick Benito. Oh my god,
if he doesn't make that play, I mean, that was
that was so awesome to see, and it just it
just speaks to the no quit in this team, like
they just they just you know, we said all year
that it's not sustainable to win all these close games,
(16:34):
but they're proven us wrong. They've been down in every
one of their twelve games and they've won ten of them.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
You know what, really quickly a coaching point like if
the Washington Commanders do this one thing, they win the game.
And basically what I mean by that, if they had
their offensive line to block from the left to the right,
like it was his own blocking scheme, right, Nick Benito
would have had to shuffle down to make sure that
(17:03):
it wasn't some kind of you know, read option where
Nichols was coming right where he was, and that would
have frozen him even more because he would have slid
down more instead of going vertical and climbing the pocket.
But these are the nuances that take plays week in
and week out, and grant they define whether teams win
(17:25):
or lose, because sometimes you can have great play call
execute it poorly, or you could just kind of had
just bad play call, poor execution.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
But right there on that on that particular play, great.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Execution by the Commanders, but better production and execution by
Nick Benito and man long he must have long fingers
or something.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
See I'm learning more already, yes, already tonight and we're
in the first segment. Nick Benito, Yeah, he got up
off the ground on that one. He's an athlete on
the KOA common Spirit text line five six six nine zero.
Hey guys, this is Stacy from Utah. I haven't chimed
in for a while now, just wanted to say that
I'm really loving the season. I truly believe if we
(18:10):
can improve just a little bit in the run game,
we have a legitimate shot to go the distance. Hope
you guys have a great night. Thank you. Stacy in Utah.
Still one of my favorite drops. Have you ever tried
carrot cake? That's Stacy in Utah. What do you think
about the run game going forward? How do we get
it going? Ben and Nick or Ben and Steve. Last
night on BCT we're talking about maybe adding a bigger
(18:33):
body to the room. I think you got who you got.
There's not much out there in the free agent market. Yeah,
you know how Ben is with his big bodied running backs,
all right, A bigger body is not going to change anything.
If you get a bigger running bag, far is sheer
girth or even height. There's an idea that that guy
(18:53):
can fall forward and get that third and one or
that second and two or something like that. But the
issue that I'm seeing it is much larger than the
bigger body, because.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
How do you have thirteen carries?
Speaker 7 (19:08):
For RJ.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Harvey?
Speaker 4 (19:10):
He finished with thirty five yards and his longest run
of the game was eleven yards and he had thirteen carries. Right,
none of that makes any sense. But I want to
impact this with some time and really tell the listeners
what I've watched, especially what happened in that commander's game.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Yeah, we'll get into that in the seven o'clock hour.
We've got our fantasy expert Paul Charchi and coming up next.
If you've got any fantasy football questions. If you're like me,
I need a win to get into your playoffs this week,
shoot him in at the KOA common spirit Altex line
five six six nine zero. I'm Grant Smith filling in
for Benjamin all Bright alongside my guy Nick Ferguson on
Broncos Country tonight on KOA, Paul Charchi and who joins
(19:57):
us now, Paul, how you doing tonight?
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Man?
Speaker 7 (20:00):
I'm doing great. Nice to talk to you, Nick. Good
to have you back.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
You just relax in last week? Yeah, I got Thanksgiving
with the family. You know, it couldn't be bothered to
come in on a Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
I understand, well, you know what, Paul, I actually thought
about it, and then I was like, nah, I'm not
gonna get up off.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
The sofa, so but don't listen. You know, Hey, we
are here right now, and there's.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
So much to talk about as far as fantasy football
is concerned. As we start to pretty much wind down,
and I have to start off by asking you about
the performance of one Evan Ingram. Now, I don't know
if he's still available in a lot of leagues, but
how much did he show you with his performance against
the Commanders on Sunday?
Speaker 1 (20:43):
All Right? He looked great.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
There was a there were a couple of times when
I was like, that's the Evan Ingram we signed up
for holy cow, where has this been? You know, when
he gets what he has some real athleticism that's pretty
rare at the tight end position and very also rare
eye your team, and that's you know, he can unlock
such a big part of an offense that is really
(21:06):
not utilized tight ends. Now we know that John Payton's
got a good history with tight ends. Jimmy Graham. You know,
you remember, you remember how awesome Jimmy Graham was for
five years, and you know I want to get I'd
love to get a diversified offense that starts to include
your tight end position. And no disrespect to Adam Troutman,
We're not, you know, not going to throw in shade here,
(21:27):
but Evan Ingram is a totally different level of athleticism.
I'd I'd love to see him on the field more.
I need to see it more than that more than
once available. I'm looking right now, since you brought his
name up, he's available in sixty two percent of leagues.
Evan Ingram is because this just the utilization has been
all over the place. But if this is a version
we're gonna get, well, then I get I get awfully
(21:49):
interested in Evan Ingram going forward. I just, Nick, I
just I need to see it more than more than
just this one game. I need to see a more
consistent pattern here.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Well, he's not available in my league because he's been
riding my bench all year long because of that production.
Speaking of players that have surprised us as of late,
Indiana and Indianapolis wide receiver Alex Pearce, I've had Michael
Pittman on my team all year. He had a great
start to the season, but it seems like Alex Pearce
has emerged as a go to receiver for Daniel Jones.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Yeah, Pierce is it's you know, we've We've been tracking
the Colts all season, right, this is one of the
best stories of the year, but the play lately.
Speaker 7 (22:28):
Has been inconsistent what we saw.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Once they traded away a Donnie Mitchell to the Jets
and that's us Gardner trade. That freed up some extra
reps from Pierce, and it didn't free up a ton,
but enough so that Pierce suddenly is getting full time
starters reps and he's outpacing the rest of the Colts receivers.
Three of his last four games have been very good.
(22:51):
For the last six games have been very good, fantasy
relevant games over the last month. Alex Pierce leads the
Colts receivers in snaps, routes and fantasy points and he's
legitimately good. I mean, just you watch him play and
this guy's good. And I'm bringing him up grant because
the remaining schedule is extremely favorable for Pierce. The Colts
(23:14):
get to face the bad Jaguars secondary twice in the
next four games. You get him this week, and this
is winning your in week for a lot of fantasy playoffs.
This is the last week of the regular season. You
need to win Alec Pierce against the Jaguars and Fantasy
Championship week Jaguars Alec Pierce could get you in the
playoffs and then potentially win you the championship.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
All right, So there's a big game tomorrow Thursday night
definitely has playoff implications, Dallas versus Detroit Lions. And for
a lot of fantasy owners, it's Jarrek Golf No Mon's
Ross Saint Brown.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
I mean, he's got that ankle issue.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
So if you're trying to get into the final position
for the playoffs, I mean, you do in this situation
of Jared Goff, is your quarterback.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Uh, this is a This is a tricky one to decode, Nick,
because obviously Goff's short suited, No Sam Laporta, their backup
tight end, brock Wright's and not probably not gonna go.
Khaliff Raymond out. I'm on row Saint Brown not expected
to go, although that's not official yet. But the Cowboys
pass defense is so bad that you're very still remained
very tempted to play Jared Goff. Last week, Patrick Mahomes
(24:27):
four touchdowns against the Cowboys. Dallas has allowed the most
passing touchdowns every opposing quarterback has scored, and only Gito
Smith failed to score at least two times against Dallas.
Jamison Williams is apt block this week. This is my
highest rank. I've got him as my number nine wide
receiver this week. Nick, this is the highest I've ever
(24:47):
ranked Jamison Williams because with everybody else out, they've got
a throat over. We've seen that the last couple of weeks.
Here's your sneaky play if you're looking for a dart
throw receiver. Isaac Teslaw, their rookie receiver got starters minutes
last week. I'm on Saint Brown went down right away
first drive he went down. Tesla played the rest of
(25:10):
the game as the starter, and he's only been targeted
eleven times on the whole year, but four.
Speaker 7 (25:17):
Of them were in the end zone.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
So that's a thirty six percent end zone target rate,
which is absurdly high on a very small sample. But
also he's averaging the ninth longest average throw again on
only eleven targets. But they use him downfield, they use
them in the end zone, and you're against a bad
cowboy secondary. Isaac Tesla is my favorite sneaky pickup and
play for this week.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Talking with Paul Charci and our fantasy expert here on
Broncos Country tonight, we got a text on the Common
Spirit health text line. Paul, a little bit about the
Thursday night game tomorrow night. This texter from the three
Zho three saying they have Bucky Irving, Ashton Gent, Javonte Williams,
and Jugkins and if you could pay two of those
running backs, who would you pick. He's leaning towards Bucky
(26:04):
and Jenkins. Yeah, Bucky's so good.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
And you know he came back last week and after
missing almost two months of play for the Buccaneers, and
you forget how good he is, and Bucky just I
thought he looked tremendous, and they tried to ease.
Speaker 7 (26:19):
Him in a little bit. They didn't want to immediately
put him on a full time role.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
That's gonna happen here, and Bucky is going to be
this guy who comes in now with fresh legs because
he hasn't played for two months, and he is as
talented a runner as anybody in the league.
Speaker 7 (26:37):
He can catch as well.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
The guy that's the odd man out is playing tomorrow night,
Javonte Williams for Dallas, because quietly Detroit has a great
run defense.
Speaker 7 (26:46):
I don't think anybody knows it.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
They've allowed the fewest Fantasy points to runners, No runners
top eighty three yards. The Lions have only allowed one
rushing touchdown since Week four, and Williams doesn't catch, So
you roll all that together. Odd man out Yavante Williams.
I know Quinn shown Judkins was in there as well,
and there was another runner I'm trying to remember. Irving's
definitely in.
Speaker 7 (27:06):
Ashton Genis Judkins Genis. You know, this is really sad
what's happened to him?
Speaker 3 (27:14):
This This Vegas offense is broken everywhere except Ashton Genty.
You get him in space and he's fantastic. You give
him any kind of blocking, he's great. But none of
those things ever seen to happen. And I don't have
to tell your listeners that this is a tough matchup
against a very good run defense. So Genty's out as well,
Williams is out. We're starting Judkins and we're starting Bucky Irving.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
All Right, So last week was a return of one
Joe Burrow, Joe Burt, and he did a great job
against Vision rival, the Baltimore Ravens. But he's got a
tough matchup against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Once again.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
We're still thinking about trying to get into the playoffs,
because that's the big thing in fantasy football. Did you
start Joe Burrow this week against Buffalo?
Speaker 3 (28:02):
He had a much tougher matchup last week, honestly in Baltimore.
And you know, we talked about it a little bit
last week, and I was like, you know, you weren't
here for this nick for those of us that bothered
to show up for work.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
We talked about Brom.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
I was like, you know, I think, you know, maybe
we just give him one week to acclimate to the
NFL knockoff eleven weeks. Russ right, and that was a
tougher matchup than what he's going to get against Buffalo.
Speaker 7 (28:24):
Buffalo is not easy.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
I'm not.
Speaker 7 (28:26):
I'm not suggesting that this is this is an easy matchup.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
It's not.
Speaker 7 (28:30):
But accomplished passers have generally done well against Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Heck Davis Millbles just two weeks ago, I had a
couple of touchdown passes. This is a team that has
not been threatened by good opposing passers for much of
this year.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
They've seen Spencer Rattler and Michael.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Pennix and Andy Dalton, Tua, Teddy Bridgewater.
Speaker 7 (28:51):
You know Aaron Rodgers have disabled last week.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
It's just I don't I don't think Buffalo is good
is as good at defense as they look like on paper,
where they look like they are a top five pass defense.
The only thing that would normally worry me against Buffalo
they're terrible run defense, and teams would run a lot,
but the Bengals can't run. And it's sad that it's
worked out this week because Chase Brown's pretty good, but
he's not getting anything done on the ground well.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Paul, we never got to knock off the rust with you.
Always enjoy a picking your brain with the fantasy questions.
We'll talk with you next week.
Speaker 7 (29:19):
All right, Thanks Gret, Thanks Nickel, Doc you next week.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Bye bye. You asked a fantasy expert, Paul Charchian about
Evan Ingram and his usage in the Sean Payton offense. Man,
I would love to see him get some more opportunities.
But he came up with a huge clutch play in
overtime against the Commanders.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Yeah, very clutch play in just like Paul and charge in.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
It made me wonder why so late? And yesterday I
was on with Ryan Edwards Okay Sports and he said, well,
better late than never, and I'm like, well, that's one
way to look at this a situation. But this was
a high probability when Evan Ingram was added to the team.
(30:07):
This is the level of production in the plays that
we would have loved to see from Evan consistently, because
He's right, you don't know from week to week what
you're going to get.
Speaker 5 (30:19):
Right.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Last week was great, Well, does that mean an increased
volume versus a Raiders team that is that was really
productive defensively against the Broncos on Thursday Night Football.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
We just don't know.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Yeah, we really don't know. I hope so it would
like I mean, when he gets the ball in his
hands in the open field, he is dangerous. He is
not your average tight end. You know, Ben called him
a heavy slot when we signed him, and yeah, I
gave him a hard time about that, but I think
he's right. You know, you don't see him lined up
tight too often, but when he can get in the
open field and make some plays, he is dangerous. And
(30:55):
I think it is better late than ever. I thought
this was an interesting comment from former Bronco Justin Simmons
with the DMVR guys talking about Evan Ingram and the
Sean Payton offense.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
What scares me the most thinking about having a prep
for Denver. If they find a way to get Ingram going,
it is difficult because now what you have to do
is you have to allocate more of your top defensive
players to this guy, and that takes away from something else.
The puzzle just starts getting chaotic. And I thought, like
you saw that at the end of the game. There
was a few drops, but he caught that one and
took it. I don't know, thirty yards down the field,
(31:27):
and you saw the speed, You saw the athleticism. The
tight ends in today's games that can do those types
of things, especially on Shawn's offense, is going to be
a difference maker.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
How would you get him more involved in the offense?
Would you target it more often early? Or would you
design plays just for him? What's holding him back from
having a bigger impact on this Broncos offense?
Speaker 2 (31:48):
What's holding him back? Grant?
Speaker 4 (31:49):
I can't really tell you what's really holding him back.
What I can tell you is what would I do
to get him open? And with guys like this and
Paul mentioned Church and mentioned it, you talk about Jimmy Graham.
Jimmy Graham was so productive that he wanted to be
paid like a wide receiver. Right, And they shipped this
(32:13):
as off to the Seattle Seahawks, Right. But you have
to open the guy up, and you have to call
design plays to free him up. The one isolation play
with him on Bobby Wagner. To me, that ball wasn't
going to anyone else. It was just an isolation on
Bobby Wagner to take advantage of Bobby wagner anticipation.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
But This could have happened all season long.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
There's no reason that we had to take the better
late than never approach to it. This could have been
like Lionel Richie all night long.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Well, another thing that could maybe open up some more
opportunities for Evan Ingram, Courtland Sutton who didn't get targeted
until almost the end of the first half. It is ridiculous,
but getting that running game going, We're going to talk
about that next time. Broncos Country Tonight on KHWA
