in your car, all the shows KOA, Sports, Broncos Games, KBCO.

(00:20):
You can hear me eight pm to midnight most nights,
and my podcast taking It for Granted, the podcast where
you can hear my conversation with Nick Ferguson. Going back
to our conversation Nick in the first hour or last hour.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Excuse me.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
We've got a good text on the KOA Common Spirit
Health text line five six sixty nine zero if you
want to get involved from the seven to zero. Hey,
we all fight our demons. It's how you wake up
every day and face the challenges. I'm going to going
to going through those challenges right now, and the fact
that I wake up every day is a blessing. I
know you share that sentiment every time you come in

(00:56):
here feeling good.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Because I woke up today.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Absolutely, ask me today, what's kind of the first thing you.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
Do when you get up in the morning.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
For me, I get up and I say to the Lord,
I say thank you for giving me another day in
your world.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
Sometimes the world can be hectic.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
It may not.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Bounce the way we want to all the time. But
I'm blessed to wake up and take on that challenge.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
I love that man. And sometimes you know, life can
drive you to drinking. Let's get to an NFL six pack.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
It's time for the NFL six path.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
I'm gonna trin a lot of beer that I insight.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
That insight information you can't find anywhere else. No. Six
the top six NFL headline.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
One first one from one of our rivals here in
the AFC West. Justin Herbert says he's preparing to play
Monday Night, one week after left hand surgery. Charters quarterback
Justin Herbert is hopeful about being on.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
The field on Monday against the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Herbert told reporters today that he had a plate and
a few screws put into his broken left hand two
days ago. That gives him one week to recover for
the Chargers game on Monday Night. The biggest question for
Herbert is whether his left hand will be too swollen
to take snaps properly. He was able to play after
suffering the injury on Sunday against the Raiders, but he
operated exclusively out of the shotgun. If Herbert plays on

(02:25):
Monday night, one week after the surgery on his left hand,
how do you think he looks.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
He's not gonna look too good because that hand is
fresh out of surgery, and you gotta think it's still
gonna be swollen, still painful. Now they can shoot him
with something in.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
That hand to numb it.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
But once again going under center, which he's not gonna
be able to send a shotgun for every single play,
because if you do, you're tell him the defense don't
even worry about the freaking run.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Right, get up, Phiel.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
And when you look at their offensive line and you said, well,
where does Herbert rank this season as far as set.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
He's fourth.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
The offensive line is given up thirty eight, and you
don't have a healthy offensive line.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Whether you put him in a shotgun or not. To me,
I think that's a risky proposition today.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
I'm not to hear coach, but that makes things that
much better for the Broncos to rill that the season.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Cool Bill Belichick says, it's extremely humbling to be named
a finalist for Hall of Fame Class of twenty twenty six,
But that means here in Broncos country, Mike Shanahan snubbed
once again. I think we kind of saw it coming
this year because you only get one finalist in the
coaching category. But what is keeping Mike Shanahan out of

(03:42):
the Hall of Fame?

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Stupid people? Stupid people.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
How is it that you every single year overlooked Mike
Shanahan for this prestigious honor? Because when you looked around
the league, use see how many coaches currently in the
league come from his coaching tree.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
None other than his son.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
So I think it's some Broncos bias. That's the way
that I look at it, because how do you justify this?

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Then all of a sudden, how to nowhere?

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Someone says, how about Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick? Right,
all of that sounds great. Both of those guys move
on to the next roun. Meanwhile, the guy that went
back to back, you just overlook it. And I know,
when you look at the grand scheme of things, the
record for Bill Belichick as far as Super Bowls, he
has more right, But still.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Come on, man, we were.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Five years removed from Mike Shanahan where he should have
been in a Pro Football Hall of Fame five years ago.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
What are we doing?

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah? And how long are we going to wait? You know,
he's getting older.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
I hate when people have to be posthumously inducted into
the Hall of Fame like he deserves it. And they
always say, you know, if you can't write the story
of the NF without them, they deserve to be in
the Hall of Fame. You clearly can't write the story
of the NFL without Mike Shanahan.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Like I see it.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Stupid people three Well, speaking of stupid people, Eagles Kevin
Petullo says vandalism of house crosses the line. Eagles offensive
coordinator Kevin Petullo said a line was crossed with the
recent vandalism incident at his house when it was egged.
He said, this is such a unique place to coach
and play. It's very special. We've been to two NFC

(05:30):
championship games. We wonted Lincoln Financial, a super Bowl with
a parade. It's an amazing atmosphere to be a coach
and a player. And as coaches and players, we all
know that part of our job is to handle criticism.
It's perfectly acceptable to sit up here and talk about
what's going on, how to fix it, what we're going
to do going forward, and we know that. But when
it involves your family, obviously it crosses a line. And

(05:51):
so that happened. At this point, we've just got to
move on. We're trying to win. That's all we want
to do is focus whether it's my family, whether it's
the team. All all we're trying to do together is
focus on this week. So Patulo's house vandalized with eggs
on Saturday morning? Do you think this was a line
crosser from Eagles fans?

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Abso freaking louly and listen, I get it.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Philadelphia Eagles fans have been known to be on a
different level.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
They throw snowballs at Santa Claus.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Yeah, but when you.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Get it's one thing to criticize a man about his
job in this case, but when you go over to
doing something to that man's family, that's a whole different
level right there, Right, that's when you get, you know,
shot with a BB gun outside where you have your arm,

(06:41):
you know, elongated backwards to launch that egg. But no, man,
you can't do this criticize me, yes, but coming to
where I live and throwing eggs at my home or
my wife leaves her head.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Nah, we can't do that.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Do you ever egg any houses as a kid?

Speaker 3 (06:57):
No?

Speaker 4 (06:57):
I never told you.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
I won't comment for.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Jerry Judy and Shador Sanders got into a spat on
Sunday in the game against the forty nine ers. But
they both say all as well in the relationship. This
was Jerry Judy in a press conference earlier this week.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Well, we spoke about it. What was a conversation, something
about to play just one, just one?

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Yeah, I think those sorts of things just happened, like
in the gave a game as when you just talked.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
Through it afters.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
I mean, I mean this emotional sport, you know, things
like that happens football.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
So glad that Terry Judy is no longer a Broncos player.
You sent me a hilarious video on Instagram earlier today
talking about leading the league and drops and that's why
Denver lets you walk Cherry Judy. The week before, great
pass from Shador Sanders down the sideline, he tries to
do a little hesitation move, gets a fumble from behind
when the defensive player hits it out. Does Jerry Judy

(08:03):
have any room to complain to Shador Sanders on the sideline?

Speaker 3 (08:07):
No, No, he doesn't, and I did. Is keeping the
main thing the main thing. But I will say this
on any given sideline at any time, especially when you're
on the team and you're struggling, sometimes outbursts take place.
I mean I've seen him before as a player where
Bill o'briden was OC of the New England Patriots. Both

(08:27):
he and Tom Brady.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Got into it, Heyton Manning and Jeff Saturday. That's when
it's classic.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
So those things happen. You hope that they don't happen
on the field where people can see them. But this
is one of those cases where Jerry has taking a
lot of shots because everyone remembers certain things that he
did or didn't do, and they're like, man, people in
glasshouses should cast ones.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Said it best.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Yeah, and I've even heard of gatoray tables getting flipped
on the sidelines.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
I have no doubt.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Oh no, no recollection, no recollection.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
You're on a five.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
This one just for you.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Georgia Tech coach Brent Key agrees to a five year
contract to extension to remain with the program. Georgia Tech
locked in Brent Key to a new five year contract
that will keep the coach at his alma mater through
twenty thirty.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
The deal comes after.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Key guided the Yellowjackets to a nine to three record
in a third consecutive bowl game, the first three year
streak for the program in a decade.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
However, kind of stumbling down the stretch.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Now ranked in the twenties and outside of the College
Football Playoff for the twenty twenty five season, Keys base
salary was four point one to five million, which ranked
fifty second nationally among FBS coaches. He said, there is
no other place or opportunity out there like Georgia Tech.
Our goal is to build a championship program. I'm proud
of the steps that we've taken towards reaching that goal,

(09:53):
but I'm not satisfied. Building a championship program is not
possible without everyone being aligned.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
What do you think of him staying.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
At Georgia Tech with some other prominent coaching jobs like
Penn State still available.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
I think it was a great thing for both Brient Key,
a guy who played at Georgia Tech and Georgia Tech
as a whole. You see one of your own comeback
developed the program. The bigger question is, well, where's he
gonna go from this point without having Haines King, Because
he's not gonna have Haynes King after the season, So

(10:30):
he's gonna be really tested as far as recruiting nils
and hitting the transport portal. But hey man, I'm happy
for anyone who's able to get the bag.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Georgia Tech president Angel Cabrera said, coach Key has brought
our story to program back.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
To where it belongs.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
He has delivered three straight winning seasons and Bowl appearances,
reinvigorated the passion of our.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Fan base, and giving us moments we will not easily forget.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
I think all around good news for Georgia Tech and
Brent Key six.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
And the Rockies making more moves.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
They hired Dodgers VP Josh Burns as GM to turn
around the franchise. This after Paul de Podesta was brought
in earlier this offseason. The Colorado Rockies got Josh Burns
from the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers the next
GM to turn around a floundering franchise. ESPN rights Burns
will team again with Paul de Podesta, who was hired

(11:27):
November seventh. The two joined forces in Cleveland in the nineties.
We saw how that successful that was for the then
Indians now Guardians. Deepodesta went to the Oakland Athletics and
Burns joined the Rockies to work with then GM Dan o'doub.
Burns said, I'm incredibly excited to be able to Oh sorry,
this is Deepodesta talking. I'm incredibly excited to be able

(11:49):
to bring Josh into our group. Few executives and baseball
share his combination of intellectual curiosity, breadth of experience, and
on field success. We are extremely fortunate to add him,
as he immediately strengthens our entire baseball operation.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
What do you think of this higher for the Rockies.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
It's something that I've said over the years that sometimes
it's best to start looking within, to know your own division,
to see what teams are doing, and those teams that
find ways to develop their talent. Look, you got to
plug those guys off of the russ and the Dodgers Historically,

(12:28):
I mean, they're playing with house money, but at the
same time they do a great job with their farming system,
and that's where you start to develop your talent, because
it's known that the Rockies can't just sign free agents
from off of the teams to say hey, come to Colorado,
especially if you're a pitcher. So you need someone with
great baseball acumen to go out and get those players
in development. So let's wait and see how this actually

(12:51):
all pans out.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Yeah, and hopefully it pans out well. And you mentioned
the Dodgers. They got a lot of house money, a
lot more than the Rockies a lot. But we can
build up that farm system, get some players that some
pitchers that have to play for the Rockies at least
for the first couple of years, and hopefully turn this
thing around and no more one hundred lost seasons. I mean,
I sport a winning record at Corusfield most years, but

(13:13):
the Rockies have not these up of years because you
personally have high personal Oh okay, eighty seven last year's tendants.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
Well, I think I think the Rockies faithful.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
I would like to see the team more than Grant
Smith individually have success.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Well, it's good for my viewing pleasure.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
We got Breemays this next up, Broncos Country tonight on
KOA five six six nine zero the Common Spirit helped
text line if you want to get involved in the conversation.
I thought this text was pretty cool. From the seven
three seven, we were hearing you on the radio all
the way from Austin, Texas on traditional radio. My wife
is a huge Broncos fan, so this is awesome. Do

(13:54):
you know you could hear us on KOA on the
AM signal in Austin, Texas.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Oh, I had no idea signal reached that far.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
That's crazy.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
Now I'm wondering how far does it reach in other regions?

Speaker 2 (14:09):
The fifty thousand watt blow torch Baby.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
Well, if you don't get us on traditional radio, remember
you can always find us on the free and redesigned
iHeartRadio app. And I'll say KOA is a preset, just
like you do in your car. You can always hear
our next guest on the Let's Talk Broncos podcast and
the Believe in the Broncos podcast.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
It's the one and only bre Mastis. How are you tonight, Brie?

Speaker 6 (14:31):
Good evening, gentlemen. Hopefully hopefully you're keeping warm. It's a
little chili out there.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
I'm not a fan, not so much.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
I am not so much. I like, you know, I
love to ski.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
I'm always cool with snow in the mountains, but when
it comes to the Denver metro area with these chili temperatures,
my back is killing me from shoveling snow this morning.

Speaker 6 (14:52):
Oh yeah, absolutely, I would not want to be out there.
Thankfully I didn't have to do it this morning. And
sorry to hear any mewing. Lucy is going crazy. She's
excited about the Broncos right now too.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Well, Lucy should be, you know, And it makes me
like you even more that I know you're a cat
lover and a black cat at that. I have one
as well, little loota bell at home. I know Nick's
not a big cat person.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
Whoa, whoa, whoa. I never say that I was in
the cat person. I am an animal person. I did
have a cat, and the cat kind of relieved itself
on a very important sports item that I had.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
So that's why you hate cats?

Speaker 3 (15:30):
No, I still don't.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
I still don't, Kate.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
I'm pulling at Ryan Edwards right here, Peyton, back at
you into.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
A quarter, Bri.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
What do you think of that latest game from the Broncos,
huge winning overtime against the Commanders. A lot of the
narrative from some of the local media was that, well,
it was a three and eight commander's team, it shouldn't
have taken an overtime win to get the job done.
But who cares At this point, we're at ten and
two on a nine game winning streak. What were your
thoughts on the Broncos performance on Sunday Night Football.

Speaker 6 (16:00):
You know, I got some really great advice I'm going
to pass on to the rest of Broncos country, and
that is that you can't let anyone else steal your sparkle.
If you're going to enjoy this ten and two Broncos team,
you do it however you see fit, because honestly, at
the end of the day, why do we have.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
To keep caveating wins.

Speaker 6 (16:17):
You either win, lose, or tie.

Speaker 5 (16:19):
A football game.

Speaker 6 (16:20):
And listen, I know the overtime finish.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
It wasn't perfect.

Speaker 6 (16:23):
It was far from it, and it revealed that the
team still has things they need to work on.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
But it also revealed that they're full of a lot.

Speaker 6 (16:30):
Of mental toughness, and they're they're full of situational poise,
and they've got a young quarterback that's growing into the moment,
and they're continuing to finish games. You get bone nicks
delivery in a huge game, in a high stress environment,
and I get it. The Commanders are a three and
eight team, but they try to throw absolutely everything they
could at this Broncos team, and Denver was able to

(16:52):
handle it, and they were able to do so in
a very convincing fashion. I think enough of the national
narrative that they're not supposed to be here, because at
the end the day, we were talking about it in
the preseason or even during training camp, that the high
hopes were there, the expectations were high, and now that
the Broncos are living.

Speaker 5 (17:08):
Up to those expectations, all of a sudden.

Speaker 6 (17:10):
There's a need to tamper down everything that they have
accomplished thus far. And so as we approach, you know,
we're headed in it. We're in week fourteen, We're headed
into this last stretch of the season, and the team
is doing exactly what they need to do offensively and defensively.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
Can it be better? Absolutely?

Speaker 6 (17:27):
Could they not be the most penalized team in the league. Sure,
but the wins they're adding up, and you're ten and two,
you're at the top of the AFC. I don't see
how you can complain about it.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Well, here's something that fans have been complaining about is
the Broncos' ability to run the ball consistently and effectively.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
Thirteen carries thirty.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Five yards and a best of eleven on one particular
carry for one RJ. Harvey, I don't seem to think
that it's RJ. Harvey that's the reason why the Broncos
afe get the ring game on track.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
What say you, Well, it's an interesting conversation.

Speaker 6 (18:06):
We don't necessarily know what is eating at r J.
Harvey right now. But the key is when it starts clicking.
Because le Broncos presently are living in two different kind
of worlds. Right when they're clicking, it looks great, it
looks modern, it looks like it has rhythm. It can
be very efficient. I think b Nix gets to.

Speaker 5 (18:25):
Lean on that.

Speaker 6 (18:26):
But when they're not running the ball and they're living
in the other I don't know what's called the upside down, right,
it's not clicking, it's the opposite.

Speaker 5 (18:32):
You get stall drives.

Speaker 6 (18:34):
It's predictable, and then other teams, the defenses, they know
what they're going to have sent in their direction.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
R J.

Speaker 6 (18:39):
Harvey has the opportunity, and I'm hoping this last stretch
of the season really showcases it that he's put into
circumstances and situations that allows him to thrive for the
running back that he is. I don't think you can
slot him into what JK. Dobbins was doing and hope
to receive that same kind of production. I think a
run game has to be constant. It can't just be
in occasional spark and so in the red zone, you

(19:03):
can't rely on field goals. Start giving it to RJ.
Harvey more we see that it works. So I think
that when there's the opportunity to score, the Rockers need
to get into that quicker concept. A little bit of
confusion can go a long way, and I think, you know,
maybe there's a little bit of ononus on the ripple
effect along the offensive line. I'm not saying they're not
good enough. They're going to be great enough for a

(19:24):
playoff run, but it's the evaluation of whether or not
it's enough to lead into a successful run game. And
I think we're going to see that right RJ. Harvey
being a rookie, is going to show a couple of
signs and a couple of faults. But when you get
out of rhythm with penalties and you get a little
bit trying to outsmart yourself and trying not to fail.
We've heard that a lot this week, especially from Sean Payton,

(19:46):
that fear of failure can be a great motivator, but
it can also limit what you're doing well. To try
to escape the path of maybe two three yards at
a time isn't working. One of those runs is going
to pop and it's going to be big time. Giving
the confidence to RJ Harvey to do that on a
consistent basis, it's what's going to unlock this offense to
the next level.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
Talking with Bree Masis on Broncos Country, a night host
of Let's Talk Broncos and Believe in the Broncos podcast,
still haven't cracked into the new season of Stranger Things.
You mentioned the upside down there and your last answer,
what are your expectations against the Raiders this weekend. I
know it's a kind of a must win game as
a narrative around town because this would kind of solidify

(20:27):
the two way tiebreaker against the Patriots. We had an
ugly win against them the first time around ten to
seven do you think we see a better production from
the offense in this game and do you think style
points matter against the Raiders on Sunday?

Speaker 5 (20:41):
Ooh, multi level question.

Speaker 6 (20:43):
I absolutely love it because the Broncos Raiders rivalry is
going to be strong no matter how either team is
occupying the AFC West. I think it's still really it
hits hard of a rivalry, it never loses its edge
because it's built on a lot of animosity in trash
talk and divisional instability. When the Raiders are good, it

(21:03):
pushes the Bronxos to be even better. But in this instance,
I think when you see the Raiders for a second time,
you're hoping that they learn something from that Thursday night
football showing because it wasn't great. It felt disjointed, It
felt less symbolic and less important than it needs to do.
So you have that opportunity to come back stronger. You

(21:24):
already know what they're going to be throwing at you.
But I think what's important is to note is that
the Raiders love to play spoiler, especially when it comes
to being in Denver. So now that the game is
going to be fliped's going to be in Vegas, I
think it really needs to send a strong message to
everyone that the standard is rising. You can't play down
to the competition, and you also can't expect that a

(21:45):
struggling team isn't going to try to pull one over
your eyes when it comes to just the competition that
is football. The NFL is full of parody, as we
hear over and over and over again, in these close
divisional matchups really matter not only for the young guys,
but the guys who've been here a while. For Sean Payton,
as he goes up against the matchup where he's going
to be tested, he's gonna want to try to go

(22:07):
out and do better. And so I'm hoping that the
swing doesn't, you know, the pendulum, doesn't come back and
try to offset what the Broncos are building here. We've
talked long about what it looks like for the schedule
moving forward of them being winning out and competing. Anything
can happen in the NFL, and I'm hoping that this
is a game where they don't get stuck just trying

(22:27):
to get past this game.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
Right.

Speaker 6 (22:30):
It's every single week as they look through at the
Raiders are not just another win. It really is sending
a strong message and knowing that you're going to go
in there and compete, So hopefully Sunday is not disappointing.
I'm not setting it up this way. I don't think
it should be. But this rivalry is a strong matchup
and it's a great opportunity for the Broncos to show
up as strong as possible.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Last question for you, Bree, thanks so much for the
time tonight, And I know you're a huge Nuggets fan,
so I'd be remiss if I didn't ask you about
the recent struggles at home, four home losses in a row.
They did get back to their winning ways tonight against
the Pacers on the road one thirty five, one twenty.
But do you think this year is championship or bust
for the Nuggets?

Speaker 6 (23:11):
Well, I think you are in that mindset as long
as you have Nikola Jokic, If you have the team
and you're putting the work in the off season to
make the acquisitions that you have, your season needs to
be defined by a lot of resilience and it's going
to expose your weaknesses. It's really hard and impossible for
a team to go eighty one to one, right like
they're going to have these these slower starts, they are

(23:32):
going to be injuries that they have to combat, and unfortunately,
the injury bug is biting hard. But I think what's
to be expected is that their defense can't continue to dip.
They have to be especially poignant when it comes to
the point of attack, and then the second unit continues
to be inconsistent.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
Night after night. So what do you do to build
your depths?

Speaker 6 (23:50):
And I know it's a strange thought to be in,
but you've got the eliteness that is Yokic, it's historic,
it's something we're not going to be seen ever again. Truly, honestly,
I believe that, not just as a Homer or Nuggets stand.

Speaker 5 (24:03):
But then you have to think who else is leading
the charge here?

Speaker 6 (24:06):
And I think that you look to Peyton Watson, you
look to a Jamal Murray, who's very explosive when healthy,
and we've obviously witnessed that very recently, and I think
that's something to lean into. If you have all stars
building around you, it is a competitiveness that can't be
matched by other teams, whether it's in division or not.
So Denver remains a contender. I think that it absolutely

(24:28):
is no question whether or not it is lifting the
trophy at the end of the year because the Finals
required tightening up defensively, getting healthy at the right time,
and I think this Nuggets team who on the path
to be able to do that. Everything has to fall.

Speaker 5 (24:41):
In place for that.

Speaker 6 (24:42):
But they have the pieces. They just need the momentum
and they need to stay healthy.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Bree May just appreciate your time. As always, We'll chat.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
With you soon.

Speaker 6 (24:52):
I appreciate you all. Have great night.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Free is the best, Nick.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
How are you feeling about the Nuggets championship or bus
this year?

Speaker 3 (25:00):
It's always championship or bust for the Nuggets, But the
question is will they be able to get to that point?
I mean, I mean Aaron Gordon is missing and he
is the key cog to their defense, and Christian Brown
is injured as well, So you're forcing a lot of
guys like Peyton Watson to step in and get a

(25:23):
lot of experience and.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Playing time and that may come in hand.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
It does, and last season we saw Peyton Watson maybe
not light it up on the stat sheet as far
as scoring was concerned, but as far as defense, getting
his hands in the passing lane, pushing the defense from
that standpoint in transition.

Speaker 4 (25:43):
He's able to do that now.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
His body size and girth doesn't really give the Nuggets
what they need like Aaron Gordon will provide. So the
Nuggets always are going to make it competitive long as
you have a healthy Jamal who had an ankle sprain,
and Nikola Jokic. But the team that you're contending with,
it seems as though right now they're still on the

(26:07):
tear and that's okay.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
See yeah, man, what are they like twenty one and
one or twenty two and one or so. Yeah, crazy
that they're putting up that kind of start to the season.
But ag, even though he's out feeling confident, you sent
me this audio earlier today from his appearance on a
podcast talking about those championship aspirations.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
And at the end of the day, I believe we're
going to be the ones that walk off with the win,
will be the last team to win. You know, everybody
else is going to hold a l at the end
of the season except for us Man. I hope he's right.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
That's going to be hard because remember in that series
against OKC, remember the injuries.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
That he went through himself.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Yeah right, you know, hamstring in soft tissue injuries, man appetitdency.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
The linger.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Well, I think you said it on KA Sports about
football the other day, but it's true in all professional sports, it's.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
Not always the best team that wins the championship.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
It's a team that it's good enough to get there
and as healthy at the end of the year. And
that's what's been hurting the Nuggets these last couple of years.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Yeah, and knowing how good the West is right now,
as far as every team being able to put up
maybe about one fifteen point twenty at some point, you're
gonna need to get those you know, stops down the
stretch when it's like two or three minutes left in
the game, Can you get that much needed stop and
scored a bucket. That was the problem for the Nuggets

(27:27):
last year because Aaron Gordon was injured.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
And here's a guy.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
Who worked a lot on his three point shot in
the show early in the preseason and at.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
The beginning of the season. So they're gonna need him
defensively and.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
His perimeter to shooting five six, six, nine zero. The
Common Spirit health text line, if you want to get
involved in the conversation in these last couple of minutes
from the three to zero three nice Pool grant the
fifty thousand wat blow torch. Mandy had a listener one
time it was pulling in from Mexico.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
I think another in South Dakota.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
I got the fifty thousand watt blow toward line from
our friend Lou from.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Littleton, who I used to work with back in the day.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
In these last couple of minutes, Nick, I know we
don't have enough time to get deep into it, but
a topic you wanted to hit on today was a
certain aspect being so crucial in all of sports, and
you wouldn't tell me what it is.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
I've been waiting three hours. Let me know what it is.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
It's basically, man, it's your routine. Is what you do
on a daily basis.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
Like let's take bo Nicks for instance, like if he
knows that there's certain flaws in his game, working on
him in practice, that's one aspect of it. The other
aspect is what are you doing when you're not at
the building or you're not on company time as we
would call it, you not touching the clock? Are you
putting the same time into that technique that footwork when

(28:50):
practice is over? And then more importantly, are you visualizing it?
Because you have to visualize yourself making plays and doing
certain things. So when you find yourself in those moments,
it's not, oh, this is happening for the first time.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
And for me, when.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
I played with the Denver Broncos, I kind of nervously
would get to games early. I mean we're talking like
five hours early, right. I'm there with the security crew
and the trainers because I wanted to go on the field.
I wanted to walk the field, visualize certain plays, taking plays,

(29:27):
and going mentally over the plays in the game, so
when it happened in the game, it's.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
Not a freaking surprise.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
I've seen the movie already and I can pause it,
fast forward and rewind oddly enough before the play even
happens mentally.

Speaker 4 (29:42):
In my mind.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
Now, does it always happen the way that I wanted
too far as the end results, Sometimes it doesn't. But
the art of visualization is very important for every athlete.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
I think that's something you can apply to all aspects
of life as well. Nick, Thanks for making it easy
as always.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
Man, Man, it's always time with you.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
Broncos Country A night back after this on Koa.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
The Caterpillar kind of gets itself into cocoon, right, and
then all of a sudden, sometime later, they burst out
of this cocoon and this this gorgeous, beautiful butterfly. Finally,
I'm a beautiful punch of fly.
