Speaker 1 (00:00):
That is gram Smith over there stepping back for the producer.
Guys a multi talented.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
The more you can do in radio, as you know very.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Well well to a point, we have an opportunity to
talk to someone who is very good at it and
also multi talented. Of course, Super Bowl fifty champion. Terrific
to get a chance to talk to Ryan Harris. Ryan,
thanks so much for the time tonight. Let's just start
right here. It is Raiders week. I'm just gonna ask

(00:30):
you good season, bad season, everything in between.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
What does that mean for a Denver Bronco.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Knockout, drag out game. You're gonna mean a knockout, drag
out game for four quarters or more. Great to be
with your Droe, Tar and Grant. Well, this is a
big game, not only because it's in the division, but
it's one of the teams and it's one of the
only experiences when I was a Bronco where you look
over at the other side and you just can't stand
their colors. And a story that illustrates that. My teammate

(01:03):
in college at Notre Dame Champion by the name of
Justin Tuck. He was with the Raiders. I played one year.
We didn't speak until the fourth quurse.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
To the man he was and he knew what I
was going to say.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
Those colors are ugly. He's going to say the same
thing back, those colors are ugly.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
But it's a right of passage if you're a.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Broncos fan or a Broncos player to hate the Raiders.
No matter whether they're Las Vegas or Oakland, they're still
the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Brian always a treat to talk to you, man.

Speaker 6 (01:28):
And this year has been a roller coaster ride, to
say the least for Broncos Country. You know, we've been
in behind in all twelve games, managed to win ten
of them, but a lot of close games and relying
on that defense in a lot of games. How much
does this team remind you of your Super Bowl fifty
championship winning team.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
A lot starts with the defense, and then it goes
to the fact that you have a quarterback who doesn't
think about.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
Losing to the point where they don't believe in losing.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Either you run out of time and you're going to
face that team again in the playoffs and you can
beat them then or you're gonna win the game. So well,
that's one of the things that people miss about Bonnicks,
and to be honest, it's something that all of us
have within us. Right. A lot of people are going
to be behind going to work.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Tomorrow, but they're gonna show up, They're going to.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Do the work, and they're to come out on top.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
And that's where I think is so compelling about the
way that bon Nicks.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
And this team are playing. It doesn't matter what the
situation is, doesn't matter if it's overtime, doesn't matter if
it's Sunday morning at twelve o six am. They're going
to play their best football in They're going to play
the details of the situation regardless of the environment around them.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
And that's one of the things you have to do
to win a championship.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
In the NFL.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
That's they're playing a Raiders team that we know of
its deficiencies. We know it is in a rebuild. They
do have some pieces that are dangerous, obviously, but we
also know that Look this time of year, when you're
a team that is down like the Raiders are, you
have an opportunity to mess with one of your biggest rivals.
And for the Broncos, who could at least set the
tiebreaker and make sure they have the tiebreaker over the

(02:52):
Patriots at the end of the year with a win.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
If you're the Raiders, that's the way they look at it.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
For the Broncos, how do you make sure that you
have the right mind set and don't find a way
to take a quarter off, a playoff, a drive off,
because the Raiders are looking for any opportunity to.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Stick it to you.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
Well, first and foremost, you gotta.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Remember this Broncos team believed in how good they were
before everybody else did.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
And the second thing is is you play the.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Opportunity, not the opponent. This is all about an opportunity
to get the run game going with R J. Harvey,
Delol McLoughlin. I think we haven't even seen the skintilla
of what Tyler Bidet can do.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
So you got to you got to establish that run game.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
You want to you want to keep your quarterback healthy, upright,
delivering the football with a seat in the ground. And defensively,
I mean, for as great as the defense is, they
gave up some rushing yards last week, yeah the Commanders,
so they're going to be looking to come back and
be a stout run defense. So that's what you focus
on because every game is an opportunity, and the only
thing is the more opportunities you get, the better your

(03:52):
opponent gets.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
Let's not forget in that twenty.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Fifteen to sixteen season we lost to the Raiders about
this time.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
It was at home, and it ended.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Up actually refocusing us a lot, because you can get
pretty complacent.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
In success, especially in the NFL with all.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
The free stake ginners and all the things you can do.

Speaker 6 (04:09):
Yes, speaking of those that loss against the Raiders, there's
been a little talk around town about how this Broncos team,
with winning all the close games, could maybe use a
loss before we get into the playoffs. Do you think
there's any truth of that? You mentioned that refocusing your team,
but as a fan, you know you would would always
rather win than lose a game, especially against your hated
rival and the Raiders. But do you think there's any

(04:29):
truth to that that there could be some benefit to
the Broncos maybe losing one of these games down the
stretch just to refocus them.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
You don't you'd like to be focused without it.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
I think it's just human nature right to be focused,
to be focused, to have trouble Folks to excuse me
when things are going good. Look, we've all stubbed our
tow on the side of the bed, right, and what
do we do We walk wider around it the next time, right,
So we learn from our mistakes. All of us know this,
but this.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
Is something where the Broncos.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
What's unique for me is the Broncos have made mistakes
and then came back to win the game. I point
to the fact that, like that Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
Game, right then and there, everyone should.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Have known the Broncos was for real. On a short week,
you play in the first window against the defending.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
Champions and you come.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Down from what was a seventeen on the road? Are
you out of your mind?

Speaker 5 (05:17):
Like? How did that happen?

Speaker 4 (05:18):
What plays do you call?

Speaker 5 (05:19):
So the fact that the Broncos have been able.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
To grow and make mistakes while winning makes them the
most dangerous team in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
You brought up the run game, Ryan and the idea
that you need to see more out of it consistently,
because look, at some point, you're going to need to
run the football, not only when you need to run
the football, but also when you want to run the football.
The Broncos did not run the football very often in
more than a two to one ratio in a game
against the Commanders on the road in which they never
trailed by more than one point. How much of that

(05:49):
do you look at it and say that's what RJ.
Harvey needs to be improving, or how much of that
is just this is the tale of Sean Payton. That
being able to resist the gravitational black hole temptation of
the pass is just not really the way he goes
and you just have to accept the good with a
little bit of the bad.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
Well, it's just something that also coach Peyton knows he
has to run the ball, and.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
I think that especially with the.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Success they've had with you know, he wanted to develop
Pat Bryant. Good thing, right, good thing he did. He
wanted to develop Troy Franklin.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
What an amazing year Troy Franklin's having.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
So you have to understand, this is a coach who.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
Had a quarterback throw for five thousand yards.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
I mean, that's that's insane in a sixteen game season two.
So to your point, that's a little bit of this
is the way you play, This is the way you
chose to roll. And I'm pleased with r. J. Harvey.
I thought he's been fantastic as a rookie. I mean,
going into the Raiders game, he had as many rushing
touchdowns as Jenti had. So this is a player who
can play but can't run the football.

Speaker 5 (06:50):
If he's blocking for a pass, then that's.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Something that you just have to It makes you wonder
does coach have enough people around him who he listens to,
because Mu's gotta be on the microphone saying run the ball,
because what we want your lineman to do is to
be able to anticipate the run call given the situation.
So they start I identifying what they're going to do
in this block against this team, against this player that
they played twenty snaps or forty snaps against, And you

(07:15):
can't get there calling the run three times a quarter.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah, and hopefully we stick with the run.

Speaker 6 (07:21):
Even when he writes it on a play sheet, it
seems like Sean Payton still veers away from it at
some point during the game too.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
A tattoo.

Speaker 6 (07:29):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
I think he puts that there, guys to first. I
think he's.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Trolling us, just the best with us. Yeah, Like I
do you think I'm going to run the ball?

Speaker 3 (07:39):
But I'm not really.

Speaker 5 (07:39):
Good to do that like that, I like controlling us.
That's a better story for sure.

Speaker 6 (07:44):
Well, sticking with the run game, we had Julia mcglofflin
on KOA Sports earlier today and we talked about with
him kind of how he had to wait for his
number to be called this year. I don't know if
you were ever in this situation as a player, but
having to wait, being practicing all week, putting bet that
even fourth your best effort, and then you're not on
the active roster on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
But he seems to have really embraced that role, and
we saw it.

Speaker 6 (08:07):
With a touchdown run against the Chiefs, a couple of
big runs against the Commanders. What kind of mindset does
a player have to have to be able to stick
with it and stay true to his task, to his
form throughout those games where he's not being called up
to the active roster.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
It takes illogical belief, right, And I mean like you're
sitting in a room saying, I'm.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
Good enough to do that, I have the skills to
do this coach is talking.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
To me, even though I know he's talking to somebody else,
but I believe he's talking to me because I'm gonna
get my shot. We're going to run this play, and
then all of a sudden, you do get your shot,
and you do run the play. And I think one
of the reasons why a player like Julil McLoughlin, oh,
by the.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
Way, slept in his car during college.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
After games because didn't have a place to go. He
understands in.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
The NFL, you're gonna get opportunities if you're on the roster.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
If injuries happen, tweaks happen, things happen where you know,
where players go down for one reason or another, and
you're going to get an opportunity. I mean, look what
Jawa McMillan did with his right.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
So you have I went on the roster, But you have.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
To be at a level of a logical belief that
you are being talked to by the coaches, that you
matter even though no one's talking to you. And then
you've got to do the hardest thing for each of us.
Be kind and encourage your teammate.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
You'd be kind of encourage your co worker.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
I mean, how hard is that, right?

Speaker 5 (09:16):
I don't know, Droe Tar, when was the last.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
Time you did thank grant or you did encourage right.
I mean, like, you go to work tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
And here's the challenge going go encourage.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
Five people at your work. You know, it's just hard
to do.

Speaker 5 (09:28):
It's physically when you're not saying and everybody's doing.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
What you want to be doing that you can do.
It's hard to be positive.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
But that's what you Lil McLoughlin's done, and that's what
pros do.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
On the defensive side of the ball, we know the
Broncos defense has been effective all year, fifty one sacks
leading the league, still potentially challenging the all time record,
but against a Commander's team with a backup quarterback, I
think what we saw from Kingsbury's offense is something that
the Broncos may end up seeing the rest.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Of the year.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
The quick, quick, quick hit stuff basically not going to
allow a Nick Benito and Jonathan Cooper to ruin the game. Yes,
it means the Broncos can keep the ball in front
of them and probably not worry too much about the
over the top stuff. But finally someone found a way
to at least get something going. And if they did
it with Mariota, I expect that you're going to see
other teams copy it. If you're the Broncos, how do
you adjust an adapt to that or do you even

(10:17):
worry about it saying, hey, that's fine, we may not
get the sack numbers, but by doing that, they're playing
right into our hands.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Well you can change it with a play call, right,
I mean, And that's one of the things that made
Wade Phillips such a great defensive coordinator. It doesn't you
don't have to.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
Wait till the end of the game to say, Okay,
they're making short passes.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
Let's run a fence defense, or let's make sure that
our cover two guys they're playing inside leverage and.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
They're stopping at six yards because that's where that slant's.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
Going to come. Mean, this is this is football five
oh two. But it could be done right.

Speaker 5 (10:46):
And I think the other thing you got.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
To remember that wasn't just a backup quarterback. Now, that
wasn't Brian Hoyer out there throwing football. That was Marcus Mariota,
pride of Hawaii, bro first round pick. So he was
trying to resurrect his career and almost did it but
for the defense Nick Benito knocking the ball down on
a certain two point conversion.

Speaker 6 (11:07):
The final question for me, Ryan, I'm gonna switch gears on.
You go to the college football playoff bracket, you call
the games for Notre Dame on the radio broadcast. How
in the heck is Notre Dame ranked above Miami when
Miami beat them earlier in the year.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
Because Miami lost to SMA. I think their stadium holds
fifteen thousand people.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
And half the time they leave at halftime. So and
we all know what happened those I tell you what, guys,
I called the first.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
Game there in Miami with Notre Dame, and that parking
lot looked like an NFL parking lot. I'm talking about
Lamborghini's Rolls Royce.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
How does a college kid where does a college kid
park a Rolls Royce?

Speaker 4 (11:43):
That was my question. And you know, they got a
couple months of money, they fell asleep, and they got
beaten Dallas in a stadium that they shouldn't have been beaten.
This So at the end of the day, though.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
I think what you're seeing, if we're gonna believe.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
That coach Peyton's trolling US would run the ball in
the front of the standing, I think they're trolling Alabama
putting them, and I think they.

Speaker 5 (12:01):
Lose, and all of a sudden, now you get Texas in.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
You'd like to have another loss to create some space
so that Miami and Texas get in.

Speaker 5 (12:09):
But there's no way if you're the football playoff you
keep the.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
State of Texas out of the playoffs. That is an
insane amount of money that is going to travel, that
is going to watch, and that has legacy all over
this country. So I think at the end of the day,
you're going to get Miami in, find a way to
get Texas in, and it will just be a wild,
wild weekend this Saturday if I figure.

Speaker 5 (12:31):
Out who's playing who.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
I'm glad you brought that up.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Though, And I'm glad granted too, because I think there
is the idea with the voters that look, there isn't
a possible way to disentangle the politicking from that, the
idea that we should make sure that Texas is in
the playoffs because of the money and the eyeballs that
it creates. And that also is one of the things
that I think they're trying to fix. I'm not really

(12:54):
sure there's a way to fix it. In fact, I
think in an NIO world it might get worse.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
Well, I mean the NIO world, let's be clear, is good. Yes,
it is for college football players. And let's be clear,
when a coach leaves the team with a national championship
opportunity to take another job, we're not talking about children's
decisions anymore, right, Like they can leave before bowl.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
Games, they can leave in the middle of the.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Season, apparently because Lane Kiffin did too. But at the
end of the day, money money ruling college football is
nothing new, guys. That's been going on forever. And all
you need to do is go to an SEC game
or go to a big time game in the Big ten.
Money talks and it does.

Speaker 5 (13:34):
More in college than a college football.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
Than any other sports. So these leagues know that they
these different conferences what's left of the conferences, they know
this is their money grab opportunity. The more teams you
have in the playoffs, the more money your conference gets,
not the team. And so the NIL is just one
aspect of this. But money has always dominated college football.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Ran here, a Super Bowl, a fifty champion, and of
course Golden domer life. So we'll find out how that
goes over the course of the weekend. We always appreciate
your insight, so good to talk to you, my friend.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Thank you so much for the time.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Tue tar Grant. If you guys are the best, thank you, thanks.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Man, Thanks a lot, go Broncos exactly right.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Well, you know we'll have a chance to look around
the NFL as as well.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
But it's going to be an interesting spot.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
And by the way, you know, we've had an opportunity
to talk to Ryan Harris, and we had a chance
to talk to you Nikki Edwards of Yahoo Sports about
the Buffalo's We of course had Rek Lewis on If
you miss any of that, well we got.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
The easiest way to do it.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Just set kawe as a preset on the free and
redesigned iHeartRadio app like.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
You have in your car.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
You know, the iHeart radio app users are loving. The
Dow Industry first features. Set kaway as a preset today
on the iHeartRadio app and just get all of it
right there. If you missed any part of it, easy peasy.
You don't miss any part of not only Broncos Country tonight, but.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
The whole thing.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
So we will be back to talk a little bit
more about the NFL. The NFL six Pack is coming
up next. In his Broncos Country tonight on Kawa fifty
am and ninety four point one f M.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
No, it's that it's that time of night. I feel
like you need a.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
Little refreshat Yeah, that's what I'm thinking that too. You know,
once in a while, you just you just need you
just need a little bit of a break.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
And so that means it's time for the NFL six pack.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
It's time for the NFL SI Pad.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
IM going to turn at insight and insight information you
can't find anywhere else. No. Six the top six NFL headline.

Speaker 7 (15:35):
What Lamar Jackson missed practice today with an ankle injury,
while Justin Herbert was limited with a fracture in his
left hand. Do you think either star quarterback will miss
this week's game with both of their playoff folpes hanging
in the balance, and which absence do you think would

(15:56):
be more devastating to their respective teams playoff hopes, the
Ravens having a without Lamar or the Chargers having to
play without Herbert.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
I think when you look at this the setup, which
would be worse? I think the Chargers minus Herbert it
would be worse because we know it's tight.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
The AFC West is looking. We saw the.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Start the Ravens dead with Lamar Jackson being hurt. Guess what,
They're leading the division. So with that division kind of
it's not quite falling apart, but.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
It's not not falling apart.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
I think the Ravens have a little more wiggle room
despite the fact the record isn't as good as the Chargers.
That said, I think both of these guys are tough quarterbacks.
I would be surprised if either doesn't go because it
is December and then you really have the seasons.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
On the line.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
But yeah, I think if anybody was missing it, I
think the Chargers are a team, despite their better record,
that are more at risk here because they're trying to
get into a wild card at this point, despite holding
the Tyber Grover the Broncos as it stands, but we're
talking about a division leader right now, right and everybody
else kind of falling apart behind them.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
Even though the Ravens are six and six, not the
being said seven would be where you'd want in December,
but I think the Chargers have more to lose.

Speaker 6 (17:05):
Yeah, I think you're right on that, and I think
your point about them both being tough quarterbacks and that
it's December, this late in the season, maybe.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
Earlier in the year.

Speaker 6 (17:12):
They yeah, they might both miss this upcoming game if
this was Week two, but both of them fighting for
their playoff hopes.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
I think both of them play. And I agree with you.

Speaker 6 (17:21):
I think, just with the way the AFC North has
played out, if you're six and seven, you still got
a really good chance to win that division.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
So I think Herbert is the bigger miss.

Speaker 6 (17:32):
If he is not able to play, and because you
have Trey Lance backing them up.

Speaker 7 (17:37):
Two Justin Jefferson told the media today that although he
doesn't feel like this season has been wasted for him,
this year has been one of the most difficult he's experienced.
As in that tweet, good Minnesota's quarterback disaster with JJ
nine McCarthy and Max Brosmer lead to a divorce between
the franchise and Jefferson, And if so.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
Where do you think Jefferson with land?

Speaker 6 (18:01):
I do not think this win in a divorce with
Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings, if I could spit it out.
Ever since JJ McCarthy revealed his alter ego, it's been
all downhill from there, I think, I mean, how do
you let Sam dart On and Daniel Jones walk out
of that building if you aren't confident in JJ McCarthy,
And you think Kevin O'Connell, the quarterback whisper, would have

(18:24):
seen this on the wall a little bit more. Maybe
he thought JJ was going to progress more this year
with a full offseason after the injury and his rookie year.
But I think Justin Jefferson is going to be a
Viking for life. And I think hopefully JJ McCarthy can
figure it out up there, but if not, they'll move
on and get someone in there that can get him
the ball, because when he has the ball in his hands,
we know he's one of the most dangerous receivers in

(18:46):
the NFL.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Yeah, I mean, I agree with you. I don't think
the divorce happens at least this offseason.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
Now.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Maybe if things don't change, next offseason would be a situation.
But I think Justin Jefferson knows he's got it pretty good.
You know, he's in a good position. You you're indoors,
you have an optic put of big numbers, and look,
it is a down year for Justin Jefferson.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
The quarterbacking has been a disaster, But guess what, He's
still twelfth in the league, figuring.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
I don't think you need to necessarily rip the band
aid off just yet.

Speaker 7 (19:16):
Three after being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Darius Slay
was claimed by the Buffalo Bills. However, Slay is refusing
to report to Buffalo, as he quote mules the potential
of his retirement. What do you make of this situation?
And do you think Buffalo's harsh winters are playing a

(19:37):
factor in him not wanting to go up to northern
New York.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
That's a tough one to tell, because I do think
Slay has someone had left in the tank for sure,
and it would be weird to go to a team
that I think is still fairly considered a Super Bowl contender,
looks Darius Slay has. It's not as if Buffalo when
you think about winters. I don't know if you've ever
been to a winter in Philadelphia with this place all
you know, kind of nearby called Valley Forge.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Kind of famous in American history. It's not as if
Philly's you know, ball me in the winter.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
So I look at a guy like Slay, I think
it's probably not that I think it probably is, Hey,
you know, do I want to keep going with this?
Do I want to try to jump in in this situation.
I'm a little surprised, but I think this is a
genuine deciding. Hey, you know what, I've had a good career,
I've probably made I've made a lot of money, and
maybe I don't want to get beat up.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
I think it's a legitimate situation.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
But it's a risky one because teams don't come around
and ask a couple times, and when you turn down
a team that is championship ready for a lot of
other teams, that decides, well, if they didn't want to
play for them, he's not going to want to play
for us. So you can start closing the doors without
meeting to close the doors.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
Yeah, that's a risky business. In the NFL.

Speaker 6 (20:45):
Adam Schefter reported this earlier today. He said Slayh is
honored that a first class organization like the Bills claimed him,
but he's going to take away so some time away
from football right now and decide what's next in a
few days if he wants to keep playing. His wife
also chimed in and said, Philly, you all are effing amazing.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
The love is so real.

Speaker 6 (21:05):
So maybe he is trying to work his way back
to the Eagles. But like you said, I don't think
I'm testing the waters too much. After getting cut by
a team and then another team claiming you and you
don't want to go play for them, I mean that
kind of sends a message to the rest of the NFL.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
What was that? What was that original line that the
shifty head with the honored Is.

Speaker 6 (21:24):
That a first class organization like the Bills claimed him.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
I'm going to guess that came from the agent.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Yeah, that was from his agent, Drew Rosen.

Speaker 6 (21:32):
But hey, if I'm slay, I'm going to Buffalo and
playing like You've got a chance to go to a
super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Like, if you don't want to play football, why would
you not want to take the opportunity.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Yeah, I don't get this.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
I get that it hurts he wanted to be with
the team, and look, the Broncos saw that not that
long ago with Justin Simmons. Yeah, who really was was
genuinely hurt by that. The organization meant a lot to him.
I kind of didn't want to move on. I understand
the human part of the equation, which is important. These
guys are not just fantasy football players. They're they're people
and uprooting the family and all.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
The things you've had in the community.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
I get, but it is also the business and it'll
be as you see what's lay us.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
Justin Simmons now making the media rounds in Denver, I.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Don't know if you'd been there in them.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
He sounds good.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
I think he's a natural, never at a doubt before.

Speaker 7 (22:19):
The NFL announced today that they are mandating every team
acquires new plane surface for their stadium that is acceptable
under the league's new plane surface guidelines. They've gotten this
new high tech field measuring system and they're now going
around tall thet Stadium seeing who has a good enough field,

(22:40):
what surfaces aren't good enough, and whether or not you
have a good one, you are gonna be forced to
get another acceptable one between now and twenty twenty eight.
What do you make of the NFL finally requiring some
sort of plane surface I don't know specifications or a
bar that teams have to clear.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
And are you surprised it didn't happen sooner?

Speaker 6 (23:02):
I am kind of surprised it didn't happen sooner because
you have places like I think this is a direct
shot at MetLife Stadium in New York, like they've had
so many. You go back and look at the ACL
injuries and the Achilles tears, and the statistics show that
it's so much more likely to happen at a stadium
like that, and that's that's something that I think. You know,
your most valuable commodities are your players in this league,

(23:24):
and if you want to keep them safe. I think
this is a great look for the NFL. I think
this is a smart move. But I think it's also
something we never have to worry about with our ownership
here in Denver. They're replacing the playing service with a
game left in the year to ensure that it's up
to standards. So I think it's a great look for
the NFL. I think it's long overdue, and it's also
something we don't have to worry about because we have

(23:45):
great ownership here in Colorado.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Exactly right.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
I'm sort of stunned the NFL did not get onto
this quite some time ago, to be totally honest, and
I think you're right. I think they are looking at
a couple of the stadiums and saying this isn't going
to work.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
But you're right for the Bronx tho.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
It's so nice to know that you have an ownership
group that cares about that.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
And especially in the ends. One of the thing is
it's just good business, right.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
I mean, we talked to I don't remember exactly what
it costs to replace the field, but it's it was
less than a league minimum salary for any single player.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
To that point, that's a no brainer.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Even if it's a little bit noisy in the data
of how much a field causes or contributes to injuries,
even if you think it decreases the possibility for less
than the salary of a player, and we're talking like
the fifty three guy on your roster, you know, not
Nick Benito.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
That way, when you look at that, it's.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
A no brainer and there's no excuse for any ownership
group not to jump on it. Congratulations on the Broncos
for being proactive.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
I agree.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
I think that FO eats these standards across the board.

Speaker 7 (24:52):
It's crazy to be that every franchise is now worth
two billion dollars and you've got players complaining that they're
getting charged for like an in facility lunch or for
their different meals or regimens they need. I get some
of these owners are cheaper than others, but I don't know.
It's time to weed out some of the old school owners.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
And it is interesting too.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
At least we have seen some noise about the NFLPA
and over report card. I'm trying to bury some of
these report cards, which which tells you, I think all
you need to know when there are ownership groups like
we'd kind of rather that not get out.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Why because you're not doing it?

Speaker 3 (25:29):
Very Wengo five.

Speaker 7 (25:33):
Miles Garrett, at nineteen sacks, is just four sacks away
from being in sole possession of the NFL's record for
most sacks in a single season, currently sits at twenty
two and a half, with a tie between TJ.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Watt and Michael Strahan.

Speaker 7 (25:46):
The Browns play the Titans this week, and cam Ward
has the highest sack rate of any NFL quarterback not
named justin fields. He's getting sacked on over ten percent
of his dropbacks this year.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
Do you think Miles Garrett.

Speaker 7 (25:58):
Becomes the first defender to tally twenty three sacks in
a single season this year?

Speaker 3 (26:02):
And if so, in what week?

Speaker 2 (26:04):
You think he'll set that record?

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Next week?

Speaker 1 (26:07):
I mean it might not be this week. Although you're
talking about a guy that also what's worth noting Intereshutar Sanders,
who's quarterback for the Browns that was among the entire
nations leaders in sacks when he'd taken when he was
at Colorado.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
So you're talking about a quarterback that takes a long
time with the ball.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
Anyway, Oh, Andy's a rookie and he's on a bad team.
So that's a bad fit for all of it. You
know what you're talking about on the other side. But look,
but in Miles Garrett's case, you look at at cam
Ward and it's gonna be a pretty easy get. I'd
be surprised if he doesn't get him at least once.
This record is his. It's just a matter of how
bad he quickly gets at it. And it is fascinating.

(26:46):
If he was on a better team, and not even
a much better team, Miles Garrett would be in consideration
for the MVP, not just not as a Player of
the Year because he is talking about a record and
this record is now currently helped by TJ.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
Watt and Michael straight Ham.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
But when you talk about Crown Jewel statistical benchmarks, Peyton
Manning's touchdown passes in a season. You know, you're talking
about the yardage in the season for running backs, the sack.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Leader all time, that's one of them.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
That's one of those that if you add that once
in your life, you are Maul Rushmore level guy at
your position. Miles Garrett is having an incredible season because
the Browns are terrible and he's doing it anyway.

Speaker 6 (27:28):
Yeah, And I mean he's just putting the icing on
the cake of his Hall of Fame resume with this year.
Like you said, it's gonna happen eventually. It may happen
this week. I think he gets two or three this
week and then he gets it next week against the Bears.
But like you said, it's just a matter of time.
What a remarkable season from him. He's living up to
that contract he got in.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
The off season.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Six, last one here.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
R J.

Speaker 7 (27:51):
Harvey is currently tied with Ashton Genty for the rookie
lead in touchdown scored this season at eight as the
Too are set to duel this weekend. After this weekend's game,
who do you think will be the rookie touchdown king
and how confident do you feel leaning on Harvey as
the Broncos prepare for the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Well, I think that it'll be r J. Harvey after
this weekend.

Speaker 6 (28:11):
I think the Broncos offense and our prediction segment earlier,
I think the offense is going to put up some
points and I think he may have a rushing and
receiving touchdown this week. He had a giant hole to
run through last week against the Commanders. I think you
could have scored that touchdown.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Dro Tar, but marser shot RJ. Harvey.

Speaker 6 (28:31):
I don't know how confident I am leaning on him
for the rest of the year. I'd like to see
Julia McLoughlin get used a little bit more and like
Ryan Harris said earlier, a little bit more of Tyler Biday.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Well, I think you'll see some of that.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
But I guess I look at it this way, and
I guess I'll respectfully disagree with you. I think that
at a certain point you've got to find out whether RJ.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Harvey can do this or not.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
If he's the number one guy.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
You had Tyler Bade.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
Andrela McLaughlin on this roster last year, they couldn't break
through and get the majority of carries with Javonte Williams
barely getting you know, not even times getting three yards
of carry, So they've been here.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
What happened The Broncos went drafted RJ.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
Harvey because presumably they didn't think the McLoughlin and the
Day were going to be enough for them.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
After they drafted R. J. Harvey, then they went and
signed JK. Dobbins.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
So I think the Broncos understand that although those guys
are nice rotational pieces, they're not going to be able
to carry the full freight for a playoff team.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
That's what you're drafted R. J. Harvey to do.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
I think he will be the rookie leader after this game,
and he might be the rookie leader at the end
of the season because the Broncos need him to be.
He's already well established in the receiving game and in
the running game. There is nowhere to go but up,
and I don't think the Broncos have a choice but.

Speaker 4 (29:42):
To feed him.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
I hope you're right.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
We'll see how it shakes out.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Obviously for the Broncos it will be an exciting opportunity
against the Raiders, will have an opportunity to continue to
enjoy it all the way here for everyone you know.
