Speaker 1 (00:00):
Six six nine YEARLS text line. So what and I
Denver was very lucky. I had a quarterback that could move,
throw the ball ahead everything. Same was John ol Way.
You guys remember him. Yeah, that was That's another one.
I think that would be up there, the Duke of
Denver up there on the list. He was a little
bit more of an arm than than Steve Young. Maybe
not quite as mobile as Young, but certainly a by
time and cannon for an arm and you know, one

(00:22):
of the all time greats. And obviously, uh, we're you know,
I thought that was a little it is cheating to
mention that since that's, you know, so close to home,
but is what it is. We're gonna write to the
Kaway Commispirtle hotline and bring on our guy Joey Richards
from Let's Talk Broncos. Joey, how's it going today?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Everything going a while?

Speaker 3 (00:42):
I appreciate you guys having me on. I just watched
the Nuggets get a big, big job today, so that's
been exciting.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yeah, they were had to come back. That was that
was one of those were a little worried about it
after the first happened. I should have known better. It's
it's Denver. It's second half sports. That's just what happens,
you know, right off the bat. We've been talking a
lot about Brendan Mary and my good buddy getting hired
by the c Boffs and bringing the go go offense here.

(01:08):
You've obviously delved into that a little bit. What do
you think about this higher, this offense.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
I think it's an awesome higher. I mean there's a
few things. It just feels like first starters. It feels
like prime Dion letting go of the range just a
little bit on how much he's hyper focusing, and you know,
has his fingerprints all over and I think that's good.
I think it's so fine to play the CEO role

(01:35):
a little more than he has in the past. And
Marion's an awesome offensive coordinator. I don't think he would
take this job with the Bus unless he was able
to put his fingerprints all over this offense, obviously being
a head coach prior. So I think it's really cool.
I think he's innovative with the go go offense. He's
literally the architect of so it's exciting for the Bus.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
Well, do I talking to band before you joined us,
and when you look at the number of yards and
the points total average of twenty twenty five. It kind
of puts to see you Buff's offense like ranking a
wandred and second.

Speaker 5 (02:13):
Now with a.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
New offensive coordinator coming in with fresh ideas, how does
it change in your mind? The point in total in average,
I guess yards per game for the.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Team, I think a lot. I think the Buffs are
going to be scoring a lot more this next season.
I think something he's been criticized for. I've seen a
lot of criticized criticism of him is that he's a
job hopper. But something I've noticed is, hey, man, this
guy must be really good at implementing his offense in
year one if he's able to go get promotion after

(02:45):
promotion after promotion, right, So that's something I would look for.
He's a guy that is going to be in the
eighties plays per game, eighty plays per game at least, right,
So it's going to be a high paced offense. And
with more plays comes more points. So I think the
Bust will score a lot more points and sexually.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
So yeah, And I think there's an advantage to having
that offense. It's that nobody else has in that conference,
you know, It's almost like playing a Service Academy in
a lot of ways. The way it's it's triple option
based at the you know what, it's core, and it's
it's I think it's going to give a lot of
defenses fits because you're not going to be practicing against
that very often, just like similar to teams that have

(03:25):
to play the Service Academy on the odd years.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
No, absolutely, I was listening to a coach clinic that
he was doing, and he was talking about how he
has to guess even what the defense is going to
do against his offense. There's no examples of it, right,
so he's coming up with the different ideas of what
the defensive corner might do. It is like the Service Academy.
The best way I can describe this offense is it's

(03:49):
almost like a wing D button shotgun. It's way different
than what people are saying.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Yeah, I'm with you on that, Yeah, you know what.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
I look at this offense and I look at the
team on the coach Prime and I think it's probably
one of the more criticized programs in college and college football,
and I'm wondering, like with what we've seen last year
in comparison to what we saw in the first two
years of Coach Prime.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
You bring in a new OC.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
What do you think the length of time or the
runway is for Coach Prime?

Speaker 5 (04:26):
If he can't get it together next season?

Speaker 3 (04:29):
I think how much money he brings into that program.
It's hard to imagine them ever really putting the hammer
down on Coach Prime. I think he has runway or
with the program. I don't see it coming to an end.
I just don't. I think he has plenty of runway.
Even if this doesn't work out, he'll have another opportunity

(04:51):
at it. I think the most important thing to keep
in mind is how long Dion wants to continue being
the coach to Colorado. I think I think that's something
I would stand more than is Colorado going to fire
or Prime? It's going to be more How long this
crime want to be in Colorado?

Speaker 5 (05:08):
Yeah? I think so.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
And I don't know if there's anything to the coaching
waiting thing or not, but certainly there's you know that
that is the thing out there as people have looked
at this and like why would he leave being a
head coach at Sacramento State to become an oct Colorado.
But part of that is you know, I mean this
situation at Sacameel State, they didn't get into the Pac twelve,
They've only got five games even on the schedule for
next year. A lot of the things that were promised

(05:30):
weren't weren't really delivered on there, and so I think
there's you know, I think there's some some some things
behind the scenes that maybe, you know, maybe people ought
to know before they talk about him job hopping all
the time, as much as that goes, you know, looking
on the other side of this, we got to Denver
Broncos now and we're at ten and two, and this
team just continues to find ways to win games. I

(05:53):
just I don't know how sustainable this is without JK. Dobbins.
But then again, I feel like I've been saying I
don't know how sustainable this is all year, and they
keep ways to win.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
That's true, and I think there's something to it.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
And I think I do think.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
There's something to a team that continues to find a
way to win.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
I don't think it's just the luck I keep hearing
that from.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
It feels like every other fan base in the NFL
right now is hey, le Brons just keep getting away
with it. Yeah, Well, you guys weren't talking about that
with the Eagles. You guys weren't just saying that with
the Chiefs. There is something to that grit. I think
the football team takes the personality of their head coach.
I think the veteran leadership for Sean Payton has been

(06:34):
awesome in these moments. I don't I really do think
also that there is science behind it. It's very simple.
It's just that the defense for the most part this
year has been really good and the offense for the
most part hasn't been as good, and therefore there's a
lot of close games. It's really not that difficult to

(06:55):
figure out. I just think the Bronkers are executing better
than the fourth So.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Looking at this Broncos team and where.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
They sit right now, and they are in the second
position to Drake May and the New England Patriots, who
have their idol this week. Now, the Broncos I anticipate
they get to win against the Raiders. Anything other than that,
I would be highly disappointed. But can the Broncos or

(07:23):
do they have enough juice in a tank to overtake
the Patriots for that number one seed.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
If you listen to the Broncos players, they know that
they control their own destiny at this point. It's true.
I mean, they have all the tie breakers from the
Patriots right now. So yeah, I definitely think they could
come first. In this whole whole thing, I think the
Broncos are a really good football team, better than what
the national media might want to tell you.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
I follow Ben in this whole thing.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
I've been seeing his tweets about how the Broncos fans
shouldn't be as invested in the national media. I totally
agree with you.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
We should.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
We should just be happy with this about team the
way that it's super.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Exciting right now.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
And I definitely think they could be the number one
seed in the AC.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
That's the one thing I guess I don't get. It's
just I look around on social media see fans that
are just falling all over themselves upset at uh, you know,
how certain things don't have them power ranked somewhere or
whatever else, and I, I guess I just don't understand that.
I don't care, Uh why and why would you? Why
would you care where someone power ranks your team if

(08:26):
you don't care about their you know, their opinion on
anything else. You don't care about, you know, having their
approval on anything. What would you care would Pro football
dorc has them, you know, power ranked or whatever. But
I'm just saying like, like for real though, I mean,
I'm just saying like, I don't know if you're not
if you don't give a you know what about somebody's

(08:46):
having somebody's approval, Why do you care where they power
rank your team? You're ten and two. Just point to
the scoreboard and say scoreboard, mother.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Exactly, especially when the Broncos are.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Beating good football teams. I mean they beat both.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
He was in the Super Bowl last year. This season,
the Brothers SAMs have plenty of things to point out
and say, hey, we're good. We don't have to care
that much about what these national pundits have to say.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
Well, no, no one really cares about what the national
punnits have to say.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
But what we do care about is the execution.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
And now there's been I guess over the season a
lot of criticism of bow natsy he bails on place
as soon he has happy feet. Where do you come
down on the evaluation of bo next? And are you
one of those individuals who feel as though maybe he's
bailing on place too early.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
So I think there is a big difference between what
I saw from Bo before By and after By. I
think the last two games, Bo just seems a lot
more confident and calm in the pocket. I think Nick,
what you were saying prior to the buy totally N saw.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
I think he was bailing on place a little too early.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
I think he it was a little too nervous in
the pocket. It's he were always great, but since I mean,
the guys looked really good. I think that if you
can get that going forward. The bigger issue with the
Broncos offense is the run game. As we were alluding
to on this, I think the JK. Dobbins injury right now,
it's a shame that Dobbins injury just happens to like

(10:22):
happen right when both starts to kick it into high gear.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Yeah, talking with Joey Richard schmlet's talk Broncos and that's
that's sort of the big thing. Like he did, and
now we don't have Dobbins. We got three under sized backs.
They haven't been able to go out and get a
guy that's got some half to them. You know what,
what is the play here. Do we see Adam Prentis
get more short yardage stuff? Do we go out and
get somebody? We just hoping that JK. Dobbins sort of

(10:46):
settles down and starts to have a little more patience
and see it.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
I think I think they're gonna stick with R. J.
Harvey's a little glosson Ben. That's what I really think
is going to happen. Everything Sean Payton said since the
last game, I mean even alluding to it. Shawn Dain
has always been a guy here in Denver that will
stand Paul next to his players. We've seen it with
Bow talking about he's going to be a top five quarterback.
Right He's kind of doing the same thing with r J.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Harvey right now and you haven't seen.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Anything yet, is what he said. So I think he's
gonna stick with those guys. My biggest criticism of this
is just how the running back room is constructed to
begin the year.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
I think R J.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Harvey is awesome in a role being the third down
pass catching running back that can get the balls, spell the.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Lead back in your room.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
The issue is, I mean, I think we should all
agree JK. Dobbins his history is showing injuries. I have
a difficulty understanding why Julia McLaughlin then is your third
running back, knowing JK Dobbins or rap sheet. So that's
my biggest criticism of what's been going on in this

(11:55):
run game right now.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
So the Broncos added an extra wide receiver with a
more when the week prior they add Lejrue and Humphrey. Now,
with what you're saying about the running back position and
JK Dobbins and his injury history, Angeliu McLoughlin, I mean,
should the Broncos have went out and grabbed another veteran.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
Back with much size.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
When I say size, not just with and thinkingness, but
also height as well.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
I would have liked to see them add more of
a traditional thumping running back to this room. Absolutely, that
is what I think they should have done. It is difficult,
so that's where I do give them some leeway in
the mid season editions. Everyone wants to add somebody at
the deadline, for example, but it is difficult to throw
a guy in your scheme. They're learning on the spot

(12:44):
and you're just saying, hey, go play football. That's not
really how it works. This chess game out there, right,
You have to know exactly what you're supposed to do,
what the assignment is.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Not only that, you have.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
To trust what the play call is or you're probably
just gonna get slacking them out. It's not going to
end up good. So it is difficult in that way.
That's why I would have just liked to see them
do a little more of this off season rather than
now we're scrambling in the middle of the season trying
to figure this whole thing out.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
What would what would your plan be for this offseason
to address that?

Speaker 3 (13:16):
I think running back. I mean, there's guys out there
that you can sign that would fill the role that
you need right now on a one year deal. There
are there are plenty of them, even these older running
backs that you could just go out there and do
that with. I think for so that's for your third
running back spot. So if another JK. Dobbins situation happened,

(13:39):
as far as your lead back, I mean, the draft
the best way to get a running back. You can
get them later, you can it's the easiest position to
fill in the NFL. Is not necessarily easy.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
But is the easiest.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
So that's the way I would like to do it.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Joy Richards trum Let's talk Broncos. Appreciate you coming on, brother.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
I appreciate you guys having me on, no worries.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Look were to talking to you again here. So we
got an NFL six pack when we come back. Rocos
Country Tonight. Thanks Patrick Keyote Joy Richards for joining us today.
He has missed any part of that. You go to
Broncos Country Tonight, dot com, slash Podcast, any of the
places you get your podcast. So he did it myself there.

(14:21):
You didn't even give me the opportunity to get any
of them my blanket and gave myself the lob on
the nailed.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
Oh man, you can't lob the ball to yourself.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Oh yeah, Oh you say some Kobe ball off the backboard,
hooop yourself. I'm gonna get the assist him, just saying,
by the way, you gotta see lebron broke his h
his three ten points of getting ten points above every
game because he kicked it out to Hutch Morrow for
the game winning shot. Was he yes, Jayson, he broke
his all time longest streak to getting ten or more
points and now all of a sudden he's out with

(14:51):
a stress fracture in his foot.

Speaker 6 (14:53):
Hey man, I'll see if the if the record was
that overwhelmingly important, Tim it was a Tiger game, he
could have tried to just throw.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
Up a shot.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
If it goes, he keeps the streak alive. If it doesn't,
it goes to overtime. Very likely he scores one bucket
there and keeps it alive. Yeah, I mean, I don't
really care. Like I thought it was the right play.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
He made the right play kicking at Dotty Morrow made
the shot and one of the fans was sitting right
there and had they hit his camera up and got
the whole shot, like like right up close. It was
pretty cool. But I don't know if you got to
know if you guys saw that or another cared.

Speaker 5 (15:24):
You know what, Some streaks die. It's all about winning
the ball game.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
There you go, and they did. So with that, let's
get to an NFL six pack.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
It's time for the NFL Sick pat I'm inside information
you can't find anywhere else. I know the top six
NFL headline.

Speaker 6 (15:44):
What the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots are two
of the more surprising number one seeds in recent memory?

Speaker 5 (15:52):
Which are these teams?

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Do you think is better right now and.

Speaker 6 (15:56):
Which team is more likely to come away with the
number one seed, and there were Inspective Conference, that's tough because.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
New England hasn't played anybody, but then they don't have
to play anybody, so probably New England. But the Bears
have just been like there's like the Broncos. They just
keep finding ways to uh go win football games. I'm
gonna go with New England here just because but man,
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
I'll say New England because they are playing a physical
style of football, which was customary when I played against
Mike Brabel and those Patriots team. They get great quality
played from the quarterback position. But here's the biggest thing.
Trevion Henderson. He's running the ball well and that could
be a problem.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Yeah, they got a little one through punch show with
Remondre in him, but Ramondre's kind of gout to the
dog house with the fumbles. So we'll see Travon Henderson though,
you'd god he could have.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
Been here, so we could have been a contended were.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Still our contender two next up here.

Speaker 6 (16:55):
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon told the media today that
Kyler Murray wouldn't be returning this season as he recovers
from his foot injury.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Who do you think will.

Speaker 6 (17:05):
Be the Cardinals starting quarterback week one of next season?
And where do you think Kyler Murray will be playing
week one of next season?

Speaker 1 (17:14):
I think Kinda will either be playing for the Raiders, Yets, Panthers,
or Vikings. And as far as the starting quarterback of
the Cardinals, it'll be probably Jacoby in a rookie. Depends
on who comes out.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Yeah, I think when you look at where he is at.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
This particular position, I think he's kind of one out
as welcome he saw with Jacob Rassett, a guy who's
a veteran guy who has less of a skill set
than Kyler Murray. But I would love to see what
Kyler Murray looks like in Gane Green Beautiful.

Speaker 5 (17:52):
I would like to see what that looks like.

Speaker 6 (17:54):
Moving off Kyler Murray, it seems like they might be
entering another rebuild. Do you think Jannon and Awesome Ford
will get a chance to see that rebuild?

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Gannon and Austin Fort will both be back next year.
I'm not sure I Drew Petsing will be back, but
Gannon and Austin Fort will both be back. In Arizona
next year.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Three.

Speaker 6 (18:13):
Lamar Jackson has been cleared to play in this week's
game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens as both
teams fight to keep their slim.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Playoff hopes alive.

Speaker 6 (18:23):
How worried are you about Lamar's recent struggles as he
continues to fight through injury and will the loser of
this game reach the playoffs?

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Where will they effectively be eliminated the loser will not
make the playoffs the As far as the rest of this,
he's I mean, Lamar's hurt. He's playing through pain, you know,
and it's it's been one of the things because he's
been a bit nicked up over the years here or there,
and that's been a thing people have used as a
knock on him. Can he stay healthy? Well, he's trying
to fight through it right now, and we see the

(18:52):
bit of the diminished performance as far as that kind
of stuff goes. That's the one downside of being a
super hyper mobile guy that uses that as a big
part of your game. Guys like Jane Daniels Lamar Jackson
maybe don't have the body types that a Cam Newton
or a Josh Allen had and even Cam his body
you know, wore down after the car accident he had.
You got to make some business decisions sometimes you got

(19:13):
to get out of bounds. You can't sit there and
take the Jackson Dart hits and expect that finding a
hold up in a seventeen soon to be eighteen game season, well,
I don't.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Think for me, looking at Lamar, it's it's about taking
those big shots and what history has proven this is
make a difference how big you are six four, twenty five,
two fifty. I mean, this is a very physical game
and injuries are definitely a part of it. What you
see happening more frequently, you know, seft tissue injuries and
those injuries are definitely part of the game. But for me,

(19:41):
if you're Lamar Jackson, man, don't don't change what you're doing.
They did that against Kansas City about a year ago
and that cost them, you know, the trip to the
Super Bowl. So continue to be you be a little smarter.
But this is where you rely on your players around.
You'll lean more heavily on, you know, a guy like
Derrick Henry instead out of Lamar Jackson in those run

(20:01):
situations with.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Lamar being healthy this week? Who are you picking in
this game? If you had to pick Steelers or.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Ravens, I either both quarterbacks are hurt banished off shoot.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
For me, it's straight Baltimore, really yeah, because I mean
Baltimore has more valuable options at well receiving Allan England's kind.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Of got there more than Adam more than a feeling.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Yes, but I mean is he gonna be up to
speeds or to run plays actively?

Speaker 3 (20:30):
No?

Speaker 5 (20:31):
Yeah, So I'm gonna go to Baltimore.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
I think I'd take Baltimore only because they were at home.
If it was in Pittsburgh, I'd probably take Pittsburgh.

Speaker 6 (20:39):
Or Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer told the media that
he's gonna have to talk to George Pickens about Pickens
now deleted a social media response to Richard Sherman where
he said Sherman would be nothing without the legion of
pom Well along with several exquidits and a lot of

(20:59):
other Slanders. Will the Cowboys re sign George Pickens at
the end of this one year trial? And if not,
would you want to see the Broncos make a bid
for the wide receiver in free agency?

Speaker 1 (21:11):
I don't want anything to do with George Pickens here
at all, zero, not nonsense, absolutely not. There are tons
of other directions you could go there, and that's just
not how Sean Payton bilds a wide receiver room, paying
a bunch of receivers. That's just not how he does it.
So I don't think they will. I don't want them to,
and I you know, as far as the rest of
it goes, I don't know if the Cowboys will resigned

(21:33):
him either. He traded a bit to go get him,
but I don't know that you resign him at this point.
You know, as far as the culture goes, the skill
sets there, but as far as the culture goes, he
is not a part of what they want.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
Well, I'll say this has been based on what he's
done up to the game we saw Thursday night against
the Detroit Lions. Everything was leaning in tilty towards him
being that guy to bring back. And look, do you
hold one game against the guy? Maybe maybe not, but
you look at what he can do and what he's
done before then, and so I feel as though they

(22:06):
break him back because that's just a one game sample side.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
So that's just me.

Speaker 6 (22:11):
I It's tough because I feel like some of the
rationale behind trading Micah Parsons was we don't want all
this money tied up in you know, three or four dudes.
But Kickens has played so well and he's at this
premium position. The pairing with Ceedee Lamb and Dak Prescott
has looked amazing. I think it's gonna be hard to
walk away from that. If you're the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Yeah, I mean you can't do some cost fallulcy, though,
Is this guy somebody you're building around or not?

Speaker 5 (22:35):
End of the day.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Is somebody who you can rely on and who you
can build around? And if he as, you do, and
if he's not, you find somebody who can't.

Speaker 6 (22:41):
Five Darius Slayh rejected an opportunity opportunity to sign with
the Buffalo Bills following his release from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
To Speak Easy podcast, slay explained that coming home just
felt too good and he wasn't.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Ready to leave, leading to the rejection.

Speaker 6 (23:00):
Highlighted getting to spend time with his family understandably.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
As another big motivation.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
What do you make of his decision to stay at
home instead of joining the Buffalo Bills On their Super
Bowl push, and do you think this is the last
we've seen of Slagh in the NFL?

Speaker 1 (23:15):
It depends at Buffaloverlance. Then he can go sign with Philadelphia,
which is what he wants to do. You know, home
feels great until the team he wanted comes calling. He
got claimed on waivers, which he didn't expect. But Buffalo
didn't know Philadelphia anything, and they don't know him anything,
and he's actually a good fit in Buffalo. Buffalo's a
playoff contender. If I was Sleigh, I might consider it

(23:36):
playing in his own scheme like that, will you know,
add a little bit to his career? You know, I don't.
I don't know. I don't see Buffalo relanping here. If
they did, he would go to Philadelphia.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
Well, this this kind of gives all signals that Slay
is pretty much done with the game, right you say,
you go home and trust me, I totally get you
playing for a long time. You get the chance to
sit home and be around the family, not do anything.

Speaker 5 (24:03):
Hit your feed up and just kind of watch other things.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
They plays and you get really comfortable until you get
very uncomfortable being comfortable, and then you change your mind
and you want to get back into the game, and
the Buffalo Bills will be a great opportunity in the
place for him to actually end his career. Because as
you talking about Super Bowl aspirations, it's not like he
like Cleveland claimed him, right, So yeah, I mean, if

(24:28):
you get it, sit on the sofa for about a week,
two weeks, you change your mind want to get back
in the game.

Speaker 6 (24:33):
Yeah, It's just he better think really hard about whether
or not he ever wants to play again, because I
think if you turn down the Bills and wait out
all season long and just you know, hang out with
the family, I think a lot of teams will read
that as you being kind of done and ready to
hang it up.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Well, I mean, you know, you got to think about
it like this. He's also thirty four years old. He's
gonna be thirty five. He's you know, he hasn't had
an interception in two years.

Speaker 5 (24:57):
Shutting it down. He shut it down.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
I mean, he turns thirty five here on January first.
He's I mean, he's been a Super Bowl winner, he's
been in an apro first team, or he's done it all.
You know, if you want to come back at this point,
it's for what you want to come back for and
do that, and I think he would come back for Philadelphia.
I don't think he'll come back for anything else.

Speaker 6 (25:18):
Six last one here, Commander's quarterback Jaden Daniels is set
to start for the Commanders as they play the Minnesota
Vikings this week. How worried for daniels long term health
are you? And do the Commanders have the two best
active quarterbacks in this game? The active quarterbacks are expected

(25:39):
to be Jaden Daniels, Marcus Mariota, JJ McCarthy, and Max Brosmer.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
I mean the Commander's quarterbacks are better than the Vikings quarterbacks,
but the Vikings are looking at a long term, you
know thing with McCarthy. They knew what that was when
they brought him in. I'm not worried Jaden's. Like I said,
it's one of those things where you're going to get injured.
If you get injured, you're not. If you're not you know,
control that. I think you know. I don't think you
go out there and you put him at risk if
you're an offensive play color, because you're eliminated. So I

(26:07):
think you you know, you go out there and you
you try to help him get back to getting comfortable,
get some snaps, get him run up and prep for
next year. And I think he may sit him down
over the last couple of games of the season. You know,
as far as that kind of stuff goes, you just
try to get him back a little bit, get his feedback,
hund him and go from there.

Speaker 5 (26:23):
Yeah, I think that's exactly what you do.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
And then knowing as though you're healthy, healthier now, but
you are all season long when he comes to Deebo, Samuel's,
Trey li on Berg's and you know South Terry McClure,
and so for me get him out there, things seem
as though they're going south and he's not where he
needs to be and that that left elbow seems to
be a problem. Then you then you take him out

(26:46):
because you know you have valuable option and Marcus Mariot,
especially after the game against the Denver Broncos, So you
put him out there, let him test defenses, everything is
going well.

Speaker 5 (26:55):
You let him finish the game.

Speaker 6 (26:57):
With strong performances like the one we just saw him
to have against the Broncos. Do you think another NFL
team might give him a chance to be a bridge
quarterback or a short term starter instead of just a
hardcore backup or straight up backup.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
I mean, who's going to do that? Who you bringing
in to do that? He's you know, Mariota's flashes have
been ulimited in similar offenses are very limited situations, Like
what offense are you bringing him in there to be
a multi game starter? You know, like, who's doing that? Mate, Arizona?
If they get rid of percent and Kyler?

Speaker 5 (27:31):
I mean wait a minute, I mean think about what
we saw.

Speaker 4 (27:34):
I mean, let's not right, Mario toa off is not
having started capability. I mean he mayor may work more
or much better in the backup role than maybe a
starter role. But who better than have at your beds
or backup quarterback because you know, guess what, he's serviceable.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
Well, what about the Cleveland Browns? Right?

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Why not have him there to mentor those two quarterbacks?
And know that though, if you need him him to
kind of carry the low and so you get those
guys up to speed.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
That's I mean, why not him?

Speaker 6 (28:06):
I also think Mariota was Dylan Gabriel's childhood hero, for
whatever that's worth.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
Yeah, I mean, Mariota has been in the league for
ten years and Trevor Lawrence is going to pass him
in passing yardage by the end of the season, a
career passing gyardist by the end of the season. I mean,
I just I don't know. I mean, last time he
was a starter was what when Arthur Smith was was
in Atlanta. Yeah, Arthur Smith goes back to Tennessee as
a head coach, maybe brings Mariota back.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
Yeah, we're talking about being a seventeen game starter. We're
talking about a guy being a bridge player.

Speaker 6 (28:41):
Yeah, like I'm taking a Teddy Bridgewater or you might
bring him back to Tennessee to finish his career and
be the mentor for cam Ward or something.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
But you're not. You're not. You're not bringing him in
as a starter to start this whole.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
No, but bring him in as a bridge player. He's
shown that leslie against one of the top deep in
the NFL. He showed that he still has some mobility.
Like that one play he made with I guess Nick
Bonito and I don't know who else draped all over him,
he still made it pass down the field. I mean,
there's still some ability there, but it's more in the

(29:15):
service serviceable backup role.

Speaker 5 (29:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
I mean he's won in five as a starter. This year,
I mean, he put on decent performances, but nothing good
enough to win.

Speaker 6 (29:24):
On the other sideline, what do we think about the
Vikings long term quarterback plans?

Speaker 5 (29:28):
They in trouble.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
You canna roll with JJ one more year, but you're
bringing somebody into push him, whether that's Kyler or whether
that whomever that he is, like, you're bringing somebody into
push him.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
They're in trouble because they're looking at Okay, we had
Daniel Jones, you know, now he's playing well for the Colts.
We had Samronald and they said, well, but we gave
Sam Donald the same type of contract that the Seattle
Seahawks gave him. But guess what, he saw more opportunity
with the Seahawks as far as loan term, so that's
where he decided to go. So, I mean, there's trouble

(30:00):
right now unless they decide they try to bring Kirk
Cousins back, which I think still would be a.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
Disgastya, what do you like, who do you bring it in?

Speaker 6 (30:08):
At this point for the Kevin O'Connell rehab tour, it's
so dried up like the veteran market. You figure Rogers
and Cousins are gone, or at the very least they
aren't very exciting options. It's gonna be like Kyler Murray
and maybe Derek Carr comes.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
Out of retirement one more year, and I like.

Speaker 6 (30:24):
Who's outside of Kyler Murray, who's that nesus appealing guy.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
I'm just saying like at this point, like you know,
going wacko for FLACCOH you got one more year left
in him? I you know, I don't know, but you
got to bring somebody to push McCarthy at this point
because it's it's.

Speaker 5 (30:36):
Been bad car that sounds good.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
We'll see, we'll see. I don't know just if he's
got another Bronco Spetrick Dackpacker for this
