Speaker 1 (00:00):
One thing I want to do say one of the
biggest differences it's going to be highlighted coming up here
in this game. The Broncos are one of the least
motion using teams in the NFL forty seven point one percent.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
The only teams that are actually lower than that are
the Titans, Giants, and Eagles. Not exactly offensive bastions this year.
The only teams that don't use motions up against the
Green Bay Packers, one of the teams that use motion
the most at sixty two point five percent of their snaps.
So this says something again juxtaposition to keep your eye
on with this coming game.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Between those two things in terms.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Of pre snap motion, Sean Payton meet the new epiphany,
same as the old epiphany on the awareness of awareness.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Mister Ferguson.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Yeah, and I don't know if this is a sign
of things that come, but Coach Payton had some very
interesting things to say this week in regard to a
certain player that I've brought up, and here's.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
What he said.
Speaker 5 (01:00):
It's been embedded in me. The quickest way to improve
a team is, you know, the kicking game and get
the offensive line squared away and we didn't have a returner.
And I remember when we were watching his film, we
knew he was a captain at Oklahoma. We knew he
was an accomplished receiver, but he was also, we felt,
(01:22):
one of the better returners, if not the best returner
in the draft. And so when you when you check
those vision boxes the way we were able to with him,
and then I would say, he's exceeded our expectation as
to what type of guy he is, how he works,
what kind of team made he is. And honestly, just
(01:44):
coming out of a staff meeting, you know, we got
to continue to find more touches for him on the
offensive side of the ball, and we'll do that.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
I don't know how to break this to Sean Vayton,
but the guy who determines how many touches he gets
is literally Sean Payton.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Well, well, this is why I say, well the awareness
of awareness, because it's understanding with full certainty what's not working,
what's working, and being committed to making the necessary adjustments,
which once again, it's a it's a tall task for
any of us to kind of look at a given
situation and realize, okay, well maybe we were not doing
(02:23):
the right thing at the very beginning and looking to
change because people are biased, right, They're biased, and sometimes
they make decisions based on that bias without looking at
a situation firsthand and say, well, here's what I should
be doing with this particular situation.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
But you allow your own personal bias to influence that.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Yeah, and some it's not necessary that biases are bad
or good in this particular case, although this particular I
think we both agree it's bad that.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
We're not using Marvin Mams.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
You do, you get you look at things through your
lens and you start to do things that way, and
other things get left by the wayside. We saw it
last year with Marvin Mims, where they just kind of
forgot he existed for about sixty percent of the season,
and then all of a sudden they remembered they had
this really explosive player, and all of a sudden, you know,
win kind of gangbusters down the stretch.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
And then here we are again this season.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
We watched Marvin Mims just sitting over there, can't getting
the occasional gadget play or whatever, and you just you
scratch your head befunneled, wondering why this explosive athlete who,
by the way, gets Denver's first return touchdown. So Deontae
Spencer was here, and you wonder, like, why don't we
use him more? Why don't we use him in the
(03:36):
past game more?
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Well, it baffles me, and I'm doumbfound it to a
higher degree because I don't understand it either. But I
like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt to
correct any decisions.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
That they made.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
And I'll ask you, is this decision as in the
game as it is, could this be a sign at
the right time that certain decisions are being made inside
the building to incorporate not just Marvin Mams. And we
saw the week before in Washington commanders with Evan Ingram
(04:16):
now getting on the page at the right time and saying, Okay,
well here's what we need to do and should do
from here on out that we didn't do at the
very beginning.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Well, you would hope, and you would hope that you know,
like a bye week is used for a reflection on
that self evaluation.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Yeah, you know, you got to you have to. You
can't just evaluate other teams.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
You gotta valuate yourself too, right, And and so I
think you know, you look at you know, what the
what the Broncos could be doing here. It's the thing
we talked about Bonix and these vertical overthrows. Remember at
the beginning of the season, there was a lot of
these sideline shots and they just they haven't done them
a lot lately, which thankfully.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
But you know they were they were missing. He's just
missing guys.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
What if you had a faster receiver out there, who
could go get that?
Speaker 3 (04:57):
That's a very interesting proposition. I'm that you present.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
I'm just putting it out there.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
What could actually happen.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Maybe he, you.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Know, catches those balls that were just going through the
fingertips of guys that were slower than Marvin Mims. Marvin
Mims like a four to three eight guy. Trem Franklin's
like a four to four four four four and a
half guy. Tred Franklin's plenty fast, but he's not Marvin
Mims fast. There's a difference there, and you know, it's
difficult to overthrow that kind of speed. You know, part
of the reason that quarterbacks look so good when Tyreek
Hill gets there, because you just put the ball out there,
(05:26):
he'll go get it.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Like you can't overthrow the guy I earned.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
A couple of years ago, Russell Wilson was here playing
against the Washington Commanders and there was a deep throw
to Marvin Mims and I think it went from right
to left.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
It's just an explosive passing play.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
And once again this is me and my defensive mentality
of what presents the biggest threats to you and the secondary.
I mean, you'll align twelve to fourteen and to know
that a guy can get to you really quickly within
five six steps, it was dangerous for me in my time.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
It was it was Randy Moss. You might have heard
of him, and briefly yes.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
And I'm not saying that you know Marvin Mims is
Randy Moss. But just the threat of the speed can
drive the safety back and allow you to work that
ten to fifteen yards with Courtland Sutton or even Story Franklin.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
It's funny because the speed is what keeps defensive coordinators
awake at night. Right, Keenan Allen is a prolific football player.
He'll eat you up with with amazing route running and
all that kind of stuff, But he wasn't the one
keeping you up at night.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
You know, how are we going to make sure, this
guy doesn't get us over the top because Keenan didn't
have that those kind of so but guys like you know,
and they've come and gone through playing in this in
this league of his speople, Gas will Fuller, who was
a you know, a brief guy in Li but he
did keep defensive coordinators up at night because he took
the top off you know things there are there are
more prolific guys than will Fuller. Obviously, the joy Galloways
(06:59):
of the world.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Was really fast. Now the the only drawback.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
He could run past you now, the chances of him
coming down with it.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
That is something in the original Clifford Franklin.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yeah again, yes exactly. But it wasn't just take In.
I mean you had guys like take In. You had
Defree Henderson, you know, guys like that that were uh
I don't necessarily say three route guys because I want
to limit them, but kind of that, that's kind of
what they were, right. You hope they caught it that
they could blow by a track star guys, and you
hope they caught it.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
You know, as far as that stuff goes, and there
is there is something to that. Maybe the the packers
had a couple of those guys.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Matt Golden, uh is kind of one of those guys,
you know, uh Reid, John Reid was one of those guys.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Although he's you know, he's been hurt.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
I mean, Christian Watson was that type of guy before
his injury.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Yeah, he's he's more of a long strider than those guys,
but yes he was. He was definitely you know that guy,
and there's been guys like that throughout the history league.
But it just baffles me how a guy likes on Peyton,
those bona fides are on the offensive side of the ball.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Would not want to put.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
A guy who is clearly your most explosive athlete on
the roster on the field more.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
You know what I would do because I know a
lot of coaches obviously we know this scripted plays and
it's just like, well, no matter where the field position
is for the Denver Broncos, when the Packers kick off
the ball, put Mems on one side, Franklin on the
opposite side, just go deep right and just just blow
(08:36):
the top off. So you tell Jeff Haffley, hey, listen,
we are willing to take that shot down the field, right,
We're willing to take that shot, and you just start
off the game doing doing just that, because now you
put something in the safety's head, like, look, these two
guys are on opposite sides, and there's the speed guys.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
So what side I'm going to lean to?
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Because bowl as an armstring to make that those deep throws.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
We've seen it before.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yeah, I mean the mississ that were on early in
the season and work the ball cut off short, the
charges get overthrown, the charges and there's several of them.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
I can you know, I can continue to points it.
And I'm just I'm looking at this.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Why don't you you know, why don't you take those
early shots with your fastest guy, with Marvin Mims? Why
don't you take early shots with him? And at worst,
what it threatens a defense every time you put Mems
out there to start thinking about I gotta go too
high because I got to have somebody over the top
in case he eats.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
My corner up.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
And even if you don't start off the game that way,
start the game running the ball, and even if you're
not getting five yards, now you pull out the play action.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Now you go deep. Now you're giving him something to
think about.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Now now they have to defend everything now, right, communication
has to be really solid, and then you can work
your deep over routes. Then you can work your clusters
and run your man beaters. Now you're making that safety
because the whole idea is you want to make safety
actually fill your presence. And in the Rainers game, the
(10:04):
safeties didn't really fill the Broncos presence because they were
taking some of those deep shots away and they forced
them to be really efficient.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
And yes, they were very efficient as.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Taking a short intermediate passes. But you got to think
if you put any offense, I don't care if Joe
Montana is a quarterback, you put any offense on the
field where they have to go ninety yards consistently, they're
not gonna do it right.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
They can't do it. And that's and you especially not
gonna do it if you have to go underneath for everything.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Right, So early on in the game, you can use
him as sort of a you know, throw up a
couple of those balls for him, give him a couple opportunities,
uh those things.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Marvin Mims is shown that he's probably gonna convert on him.
We saw this last year.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
We saw I mean Grant you know, big Bengals fan
back there certainly remembers that Cincinnati game with Marvin Mims
last year.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
You know, it's it's just it's baffling to me.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
And it's one of those things where I'm like, you know,
all these screens that we run, they would be so
much more effective if a defense was camped out too
high thinking, you know, worried about the overthrowback there than
you're popping screens to Mims and Franklin underneath while they're
camped out in that.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
That'd be so much more effective.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
And they you know, you know what's the setup off
of that?
Speaker 5 (11:07):
Right?
Speaker 3 (11:08):
So now you hit him with a couple of screen passes.
You get the corner looking, you get the curve flat
guy looking, and you get that wheel there you go.
You know, at this he can you can you not visualized?
Rise right visualize Let me get my words right right now?
Watching RJ. Harvey run the rail route and he leaks
(11:28):
out because they're not expecting it because they're thinking so
much about the screen that you set up.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
I mean, so I ad can score a touchdown on
one of those because they got caught peeking, yes, you know,
and like it's it's there are there are ways to
do all this, and it just baffles me.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
I guess a little bit that uh that.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
John Payton continues to go to just using Troy Franklin,
you know, or whatever in these situations when you've got, uh,
a more explosive asset. I think in Marvin Mims to
be able to do that, and we may see more
of Mimes this weekend with Pat Bryan expected to be
sidelined with the hamstring issues were reported earlier. You know,
I don't know if that means more little Jordan Humphrey,
(12:04):
if that means a call up for Elijah More, if
that means more of Martin Mims.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
I hope.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
I don't know what that means in terms of that
receiver room, but I really hope that we get Marvinmims
a little bit more involved here as we as we
start having the playoff run and we're gonna need an
explosive threat there.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Well, maybe we should put that in context as far
as what that what does that mean to get him
more involved, because in my frame of mind, being more
involved is that's in a vertical passing game. Yes, that's
that's what I mean, manufactured run no with with swing
pass we don't.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
You don't need to, you don't need to do that stuff.
Just put him out there.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
I mean, okay, so Mims can't run a full route treat,
but he can run an eight, he can run a nine.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
You know.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Put him out there and in those type situations and
let's see what he can do.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Like I mean, I I just don't understand the premise
behind not doing that. Again, It's just it's weird to me.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
You have a guy who's highly effective when given opportunities.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
Well, what did Jamie fox AA and the movie Ray
Let it do what it do? Baby?
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Somebody to say that.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
That's what you have to do well and we need to.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
I mean, like Mims has shown it again.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
He had the Putt return and his special Teams Player
of the Week and it just goes to show again
that we've got an explosive asset in the stable and
we're letting him sit back there eating Hey instead of
instead of being out there winning races.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
He's in the bar, and.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Hey is in the bar, and apparently the horses too.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
He's not out winning the races because uh, he's not
out there when we need him.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Broncos Country and I got an NFL six Pack. We
come back. It's time for NFL six pack. It's time
for the NFL six pad.
Speaker 6 (13:37):
I'm gonna take a lot of beer, insight and insight
information you can't find anywhere else.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
No the top six NFL headlines.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
What the NFL is gearing up for the twenty twenty
eight Olympics in l A. With the events just a
few years away, league voted today to fund and launch
a professional flag football league. The move allows the NFL
and entered in agreement with a partner and invest up
to thirty two million dollars in the league.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
NFL Executive VP of.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Football Operations, Troy Vincent said today that the move was
a critical step in establishing a flag football excuse me
establishing flag football as a premier global sport.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
By announcing the.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Creation of the new league, the NFL's capitalizing on the sport,
which it described as one of the fastest scoring around
the world. For twenty Olympics marked the first time flag
football is included as Olympics sports. In May, the league
allowed resolution for players to participate. Injury protection and salary
cap credit will be offered to teams that lose players
to injury during the Olympics. There are restrictions on how
(14:38):
many players an NFL team can send. Each club has
only allowed one player to play out each country's team,
and then I just don't Viking's white out. Justin Jefferson is
among the players who've expressed interest in playing Are we.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Interested in NFL flag? Are we interested in flag football? NFL?
Like that's what they're doing here.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
You know what, I'm going to go out on the
limb and say yes, because basically what the Pro Bowl
has become anyway, right, you might as well invest in it.
And we've seen flag football explode over the past couple
of years, just thinking about you know, chassit and what
they've done with flag football here, women's flag football.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
He on a high school level, so I liked it.
I mean, my.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
First introduction to the game was flag football because my
mom wouldn't let me play contact football. But yeah, I
think it's great. It would add to the competition because they.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Don't have gatoray tables and flags. So he was seeing
if the four people on the sideline were safe your mom.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Two.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
Yeah. As far as locker room and gimmicks go, this
clearly fell on the wrong side of goofy as hell.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
I don't know if you guys saw this one or not,
but it didn't work. The Eagles, of course.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Lost to the Chargers in the first and only game
played with the positive tivity rabbit in the locker room.
Do you guys see this thing, this inflatable rabbit that
the Eagles had put inside their locker room.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Well, via Jeff McLain in the Philadelphia quired, the inflatable
rabbit that was installed to bring good vibes to the
locker room has been removed. We'll see if the Eagles
try something else to turn around the three game losing
streak beyond the old fashioned strategy of just scoring more
points in the other team.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
What did you guys see this thing?
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Like?
Speaker 1 (16:22):
What in the world was going on here with the
They put this inflatable rabbit in the locker room and
called it the positivity Rabbit, and it's just it was
the goofiest nerdiest woa I've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Listen, It's not the ideal thing that you're doing or
you do when you're with the team, But the Eagles
have had their struggles, so you tried to do anything
that changed the vibe in the room and the positivity bunny.
I mean, we know that Aj Brown has been anything but.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Positive of all season long.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
So you try if you want to get a inflatable
tube guy in the locker I know what, you try anything.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
I mean if if you in a slump, you need
a slump buster, right, And someone's got to call the
bunny and say, okay, well here's what was the idea
to try to change things.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
But the bunny didn't work. So now you get rid
of the damn bunny. Try something else. Maybe it might
be a tortoise this time.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
I don't know what I would have never. I don't
know what to do with this.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
I just saw the thing and I thought it was ridiculous,
and now it's it's obviously gone as the players hated.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
It, and we're like, this is the jigs And I mean,
I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
A minute had they won the game, guess what guess
it would have been back in the locker room.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
No bunny, No, get that inflatable weird thing out of here.
It was just weird.
Speaker 6 (17:36):
Three former Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs, the third, who is
serving a sentence of three to ten years, has had
a change in his circumstances that a pot of dear
divided Department of Corrections has transferred.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Rugs from a minimum security transitional housing center to a
medium security prison in northern Nevada. Apartment of Corrections said
this is in response to an inquiry from eight News
Now in Las Vegas, saying, quote, we can't disclose specific
information on offenders. However, in general, an offender who commits
infractions while at a lower level custody, depending on the
nature and severity, are reverted back to higher level custody.
(18:10):
Ruggs pleaded guilty to one count of DUI resulting in
death in one count of misdemeanor VICKI hicular manslaughter during
November twenty twenty one crash that killed twenty three year
old Tinatintre and her dog, where Huggs was driving one
hundred and fifty six miles an hour and his blood
concentration was zero point one six, twice the legal limit.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Ruggs, obviously a first.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
Round pick back in twenty twenty, eligible for parole in
August of twenty twenty six. Unclear weather and to what
extent this development will complicate his effort to be released
at his first opportunity.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
What do we think of Henry.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Ruggs being moved from low to minimum security housing to
medium security prison?
Speaker 3 (18:43):
I mean without mean knowing the details of what took
place to make him go back to a higher security stronghol.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
All I'll say is that this whole thing with Henry Ruggs, man,
I remember hearing about it, and we're just so sad.
A guy who has so much potential and he just
made this very constantly mistake, one that he may not
ever recover from, especially as far as his career is concerned.
But at least he gets his chances to live his life.
But others may feel a little different. But it just sucks, man,
(19:15):
that this kid made a bad decision to put him
in this conundrum he finds himself in.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
And yeah, I hate it when people get opportunities and
then you know, you see stuff like that where it
continues to be a problem.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
See.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
I don't know the specific set either, but wishing and
hoping that he gets a chance to turn it around.
For Joe Burrow turned twenty nine today and he seemed
to be pretty dejected through must of his weekly press conference.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
I don't know if you guys watch this or not.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Initially, thanks, reporters are left after answering a couple of
questions and a lull emerge.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Then he returned to answer.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Some more questions, and that's when it started to get
dark or interesting, saying quote, if I wanted to keep
doing this, I have to have fun doing it. You know,
I've been through a lot, and if it's not fun,
what am I even doing it for. He was then
asked if it's currently difficult to have fun. He said yes, certainly.
He was asked when it changed from being fun. He said,
I'm not sure it's a singular moment in time. It's
(20:06):
just reflection on a lot of things that I've done
and been through in my career.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
You know, I've been through more than most. It's certainly
not easy on the brain of the body.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
I'm just trying to have fun doing it again or
Later was told that he seems to have something on
his mind and that he seemed to be frustrated. They said, quote,
there's just a lot of things going on right now.
A lot of things going on right now. Football are
personally all of the above. The Bengals obviously should be
concerned about all the above hardly a stretch based on
his worst I wonder if he's thinking about walking away
from the game, or perhaps if you think about trying
(20:35):
to join a new team. Who knows, maybe it's a
temporary thing. Could Joe Burrow pull at Andrew Luck and
suddenly retire from the game.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Anything is possible, but I think he is speaking from
his overall frustration. Being a member of the Cincinnati Bengals
who've seen it in the past, It's tough for any player,
but it's tough when you are the face of the franchise.
You watch Joe Burrow come in and get injured his
first year, right, and then he had this other injury.
But all the while he just gets paid. Jamar Chase
(21:09):
gets paid. But their defense can't really stop anyone. So
could it be a sign that Joe Burrow is putting
the Bengals organization on notice. I wouldn't be shocked.
Speaker 7 (21:21):
I think what Nick said, louising and injuries takes a
toll on you, and he wants to win.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
He's a winner.
Speaker 7 (21:27):
I think this is going to create some changes. I
think maybe there'll be a head coaching change at the
end of this season. But I think Barrow is going
to stay at Bengal.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Okay, we'll see how how that one shakes out, but
it certainly struck me. If you watch this thing, he
looks just defeated, very dejected.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Wait, wait, first of all, did you forget who he
plays for?
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (21:49):
I mean watching that defense, you'll be dejected all day.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Well that's fair, Okay.
Speaker 8 (21:58):
Five quarterback Sam Ailinger had a chance to join the
Colts active roster, decided to remain on the Broncos practice squad,
and Alinger told our buddy Parker Gabriel the Denver Post
he spent forty eight hours wiing his options after Daniel
Jones toward his Achilles on Sunday say, quote, we're really
happy here.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Enjoy the organization, the path we're on.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
And what we're building. I want to be a part
of that. I was in Indianapolis for four years. I
love everybody there. Just a difficult situation.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Obviously.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
The Colts made Ailinger a sixth round pick back in
twenty twenty one, but its first four seasons in Indy
started three games. In twenty twenty two, the Colts plan
was to sign both Ailinger and Philip Rivers.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
They ended up only with Philip Rivers.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Alinger will make the league minimum one point one seven
million for a fifth year player because he was on
the active roster for a week one this season. What
do we think about Sam Ailinger turning down? I guess
a quarterback competition in.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Indy, Well, look, man, the idead. Some people a bill
for it, some individuals are not. And I guess he
wanted to go to a place where he felt as
though he can, you know, be inserted into the lineup
right away. But sometimes you have to compete and you
can't be shot. You can't shy away from that competition.
But I think, as crazy as it sound, with the
(23:08):
forty four year old veteran quarterback, I'm looking forward to
saying what the coach would do with Philip Rivers.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Yeah, I'm looking for I think the whole league is
like a kind of secretly rooting for Philip Rivers and that, yeah,
we'll see. I say a Linger, for his part, he
knew that he wasn't going to be the guy he
was going to be in the mix. And I get
keeping a stable situation here rather than the you know,
jumping over to another team midseason for a you know,
a team that gave up on you anyway, So six that's.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
The big news to like.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Michigan has fired a head coach Ron Moore, and a
a move that surprised I think everybody this afternoon, you
have head football coach Run Moore has been terminated with cause,
effective immediately, Michigan Athletic Director Ward Manuel said in a
statement following a university investigation, credible evidence found the coach
more engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a state half member.
His conduct constitute a clear violation of university policy and
(24:03):
UM maintains a zero tolerance for such behavior. That Poggy
has been appointed football coach in the interim capacity, effective immediately.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Michigan opening instantly became the.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Best job available in college football at a time when
the dust was seeming like it was settling on this
year's college coaching carousel. Moore's record through two years at
Michigan wasn't great. He inherited the raiding national champions from
Jim Harball w in eight and five and nine to three.
He was not believed to be on the hot seat, however,
until Michigan learned of the inappropriate relationship and the other
(24:33):
situation stemming from it, which is that more has been
booked and I'm trying to pull this up again because
I lost it on my screen here, but he has
been booked in it looks like, and is awaiting charges
for incidents but stemming from a situation after that, and
I've got.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
It here so I can read it for you. The
Pittsfield Police.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
Department responded to the bubb location at the above date
the time and purpose of investigating an alleged assault. The
depart but has received multiple media requests for information. A
suspect in this case was taken into custody since that
it does not appear to be a random in nature,
there's no ongoing threat to the community. Suspect is launched
at the Washingtonawk County Jail pending review of charges by
the county prosecutor. At this time, the investigation is ongoing,
(25:16):
and so that's where it sits right now. But they
at least indicated assault several other people out there, indicating
the potential b and e that Moore had attempted to
go to his mistress's home and break in as well
as an assault, although we're not sure if that's the
wife or the mistress at this point, a lot of details.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Coming out of there. This is just a wild situation.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
You know, with Bobby Patrino's situation, the only people that
got hurt I think were but was Bobby Patrino. And
that's gofield neck brace he had where to the press conference.
This situation looks it looks a little little more severe severe.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
I mean, there's other adjectives you can use to describe this.
This is utterly ridiculous and definitely embarrassing for all the
parties involved. Is just like and this is where one
has to keep their ethics at the forefront of their mind.
And most people don't think like when they do something
wrong it impacts multiple people. But when you make a
(26:14):
decision like this, it impacts everyone, right, I mean your family,
their family, the kids. So one's got to be really
smart about this decision, and you don't. You don't turn
one bad decision into multiple bad decisions, as it seems
as though coach Moore is really doing, and he's doing
damage to his reputation right now.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Yeah, I mean this is I mean, obviously you just
got fired as the head coach of Michigan. You need
to get all the personal details in your personal life
straight and everything rectified and all that kind of stuff
going forward. From the outside looking in from a sports perspective,
I wonder about what, if any type of career he
has after this, you know, I.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
Just it's it's it certainly is, and it's a developing,
developing situation. But oh, it is developing that right, you're
telling me it is.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
But but I mean, this is just one of those
things where I don't I can't even begin to wrap
my head around, you know, the situation. More who has
been in coaching since you know, he played as he
was a guard at Oklahoma, you know, back in the day,
and then he's been coming coaching since two thousand and
nine at Louisville Central, Michigan and Michigan. I don't know
(27:26):
where you go from here, And obviously you need to
get your personalized straight before you start thinking about.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Ok this is one of those situations that you wish
that you could hit the reset button. Let's rewind and
start this over from day one, and knowing what you
know about what the inconclusion is, you go to change
some of the things that you did early on in
the process. But unfortunately we don't have a demorian and
(27:53):
life is what it is. So once again, your ethics,
your morals have to take center stage. If they don't
and you think that it only impacts you, this is
an example of one bad decision reck in the lives
of so many other people who are involved.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
Yeah, and it's Uh, these consequences are going to be
far reaching. Uh, in his personal life, in their personal lives.
I believe he has three daughters in their lives. And
then it, you know, carries over. It's gonna your you're
your football team, you were the leader of a group
of men on a football team. It carries over to
their lives, the incoming recruits that you had tried to
(28:34):
recruit to.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
That university into their lives.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
This is this is something that's going to impact a
lot of people.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
I want to say this, Ben, I'm not saying Look
that I'm a perfect man and I don't have flaws,
and I haven't done anything.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
Wrong in my life.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
But there reaches a point, man, where you really have
to think about some of these life and family changing decisions,
and you you got to think outside the box and
how this is going to this one moment, how is
going to potentially wreck the lines of so many other people.
You just got to be a little more thoughtful about it.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Yeah, it's just I mean, from my own personal experience,
get get your life right, start making grown up decisions,
accept responsors. Don't and don't try to pin this off
on anything else except responsibility. Take accountability in your own
life and determine for yourself that you're not going to
make those kinds of decisions going forward. And if you,
if you start the process of being a better person,
the result of being a better person will will come
(29:31):
along with it eventually.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Just saying amen, from personal experience, that's uh, that's the
best I can do there. In the meantime, If Poggy
will be the interim head coach there at Michigan as
they begin, he searched, I believe it's gonna use a
search firm in an effort to do this. Poggy, who
was previously a head coach at Charlotte with six and sixteen,
it was two and zero as the.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Interim head coach there at Michigan. Poggy is.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
The those who don't know, has an interesting backstory. He
was a hedge fund manager and he made himself a
multi millionaire off that and then after thirty years of
doing that, relinquished the firm over to former players and
became a football coach. So fascinating, interesting story there, Broncos
Country Tonight rolls up here on
Speaker 3 (30:20):
K What did Jamie Foxx say in the movie Ray
Let it do what it do, baby,
