Speaker 1 (00:00):
Chopping down with some gum on the air.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Did you hear that? Most?
Speaker 3 (00:05):
I think people complained about me because I try to
shovel last bite in before you know, when I because
I eat, they're in the brakes or whatever, and so
like I'll shovel a bite and people are like, is
being just fat.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
And talks like that or is it he's eating?
Speaker 4 (00:15):
Yeah, that irritates the hell out of me. Which was
when people chew and they smack, I can hear it,
And I'm like, can you chew with your mouth close right?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
I know you're talking about being when he does it,
I don't don't.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
You know, don't know he does, but I mean you
can hear it. Like if I try to quick chew
a last bite, you can kind of here because the
microphones pick up everything, you know, Yeah, you could kind
of hear it.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
So there's there's a little bit of that, I don't.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Know, irritating thing ever, the most non irritating thing ever.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Grant Smith back there producing tonight's going on.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
He gives us two thumbs up. Steve, we h we
did it. We won again.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Yeah, us the three of us, between the three of us,
we took inspiration for Phil rivers.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
We threw the pads on.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
We went out there.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
And uh, you know, I pretended to be Riley Mosh.
You know, I got flagged a couple of times for
playing cornerwhile being white and uh.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Fly man was ridiculous. One out.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Wait wait, wait a minute, wait a minute. So I'm
gonna am I gonna have to do the same thing
for you too. I try to do it for the
guys on KOI Sports, but I don't know what you did.
This was the first things first, right, let me let
you guys articulate what it was that you saw before
I chime in, I say anything, Go.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
What what do you want me to say? Here? Whatever?
You to be a past interference to me, and you
are allowed to It wasn't It didn't appear.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
You are allowed to hook the hand of the defender
like that. That's part of the thing.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
The defender has to make a move with their the
defender player excuse me, has to make a move with
their arm in order.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
For it to I'm sorry, So the offensive player has
to maintain their stride in order.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
For no, they have to make move with that.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
You can hook the hand like that.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
That is legal. That is completely legal. Well, I'm gonna
lets you go ahead and then sund it. But you
could you could, you could use.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Your hand as a hook around the thing.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
There's the.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Let me first say this because look, I love Roley
mossh or what's happening to Riley is is wild and ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
But also keep this in mind, and we've seen this
with you know, Steve's probably happening in your day, happened
in my day. It all depends on who you are.
And if you build up a profile, right, you you
have priors. Right, So if there's a suspect in the
vicinity and they say it was arm robber and you
have arm rob you know priors. Guess what They're gonna
pick you up? A person of interest, that's right, your
(02:46):
person of interest. So every single game Raleigh Moss, whether
he wants to or not, he becomes a person of interest.
And as it retains to the play in question, that
play is very subjective and from the fans' opinion, what
we judge is what happened at the tail end of
the play, instead of talking about what happened at the
(03:07):
very beginning of the play. Well, Robley was beat off
the line of scrimmish on the speed release, so he
had to get back and face so he reached out
and as he reached out and grabbed the arm, he
turned to look back for the ball, as that you're
taught to do.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
And if you're a dB in that position and you
turn and look, the refs never called.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
The side judge didn't have a great view. You know
who had the best view is a guy who's been
criticized the most.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
The back judge. He saw it and I know it's.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Not something that I want to say that it exists,
and I want to say pound the tape will say
it was.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Wrong, but it was the right call.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
And to verify what I did, because I'd never want
to be the type of person to toss something out
and talk out the side of.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
My neck what I did.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
I reached out to guys I know who are NFL
officials and I.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Said, well, let me know what you think.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
This is what I got, tell me what you got,
and have them explain it to me in detail. And
the problem with the NFL is that there's not a
detailed explanation for what the rules are. And I too
thought Steve ten year career in the league, that I
knew them verbally by detail, only to find out by
(04:21):
talking to these officials, No I did not.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
You just found out now that you didn't know all
the rules.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
No, there are some rules that you have to go
into much detail.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
All the rules.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Yes, I thought I knew all the rules, but these
guys have taught me like, no, there's another evolution to
those set rules. And I'm thinking when they have these
officials and during training camp and they're having these officials
to go through their mechanics or whatever, sit down and
tell the dvs and the wide receivers in the office
of Lineman, this is what we view is holding. So
(04:52):
if they tell you that you can circumvent the rules, right,
and dare I say cheat? Because the rule what's what's
the rule of thumb in the league? Did I see?
You're not trying. I'm just saying.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
But also, you can also all all those rules and
he still can call it.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
This is a strong possibility, you know why, because it's subjective.
You just.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
But that's the problem. We need to take the subjectivity
out of it. And the rule book clearly states that
you can take a hand and hook as long as
they is.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
You cannot run down the field three to four steps
holding that arm, you cannot hold it.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
But he didn't. He didn't wasn't holding it. He was
just sitting there with his hand open. Oh okay, so
I could sit.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
There with my hand on being's face and say, well,
I'm just putting it here.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I didn't slap.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
That's a legal contact. Hands to the face.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
That's difference.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
That's a totally different thing.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
He didn't have his hands on his face.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
But he had his hand on his restricting his arm movement,
also restricting his ability to walk up field and catch the.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Ball because receiver never made a movement with the arm
showing that it's restricting the arm.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
He was running forward.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
But the only thing the thing is, I think this
the thing that four wars people is.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
That it's just not consistent.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
And that's the messaging across the league right now.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
And I totally understand how inconcision.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
One time the base. Here's the thing. Here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
I think what happened with the Saints when they played
the Round Rams again. Nicole Roby Coleman, who was playing
dB for the Rams, ran into a Saints receiver.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Right the game they would have been for the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
He didn't played the ball he ran.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
It was a clear defensive passing affairs and him to
him in contact. None of that was called. New York
didn't even call it. And then after that we all
saw it was so egregious. You know what happened after that,
there was this protest where maybe passing affairs calls should
be challenged, right, so you have to give up a
challenge fat flag and a turnover to challenge to play.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
But they the league.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Discouraged it because every time any coach tried to challenge it,
they told him no, right, so you lost.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
The Saltis flag.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Game.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
Why I start challenge he plays and we know we're
not gonna win this off game. They wanted to trust me, man,
I know, I just wanted to put it out there
that that particular call as subjective as it can deep,
you know, review, but that was why they called what
they called.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
I know, but Nick, man, you haven't been a defensive player.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
It sounds like you're on the offensive side right here. No, sell, he.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Was as fan, So you don't know what the pros do.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
You're gonna believe that? Okay? I thought, I.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Thought that's not.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Even throw some news that was a little weird.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Man when he came in wearing that cheese head thing.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
But we you know, I just let it go.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Okay, exactly, you get testify to that, yes, that I
did not do that.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Wait wait, I guess it was rooted for the Jags
this week, not me.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
I got a big bet going the other way.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
I can find you let Broncos go the other way.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
But is this the same bet where Ben had this
egregious number as far as what the score is he
and he's going to go for the other team, but
he's using reverse psychology to vote for and praise.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
The Broncos former teammate.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Did you see that? You remember Charles James? I can't
see that, Charles James? You remember Charles Jamps?
Speaker 1 (08:25):
To do No, okay, that's who the bets.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Okay, let's that's still that still doesn't mean that you
in some way and not playing favorite to the Jags.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Playing favorite of the Jags. I literally bet the Broncos
might just do and a half. Well, I have to
see that. Okay, here, yes, right here, there you go.
I can't I can't show this up to me. I
can't bet. Wait, it's not incriminating if you see it
you read it. I don't even want to see it.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
He don't want to ability.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
I didn't know what.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
The Shaggy defest no matter what.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
I would dead No, I mean this was was this
the most complete game the Broncos have played so far?
Speaker 1 (09:07):
There there were some mistakes, obviously, Well.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
Every game we all together, oh yeah, and against a
really good opponent.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Right, The Packers were probably the arguably one of the
best three teams in the NFC, right, and we all
I mean I personally I would say that the Rams,
the Packers, and the Seahawks are the crop of the
the NFC.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Well, you got to throw the forty nine ers in
there because they found what they find ways to wink,
so I'll put them.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
But if I had to pick three, those are the
three I would pick.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Right, those are three teams.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
That's that's the crop of the of the NFC. And
you put that together.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
I mean it's a home game, but you still you
put together against the Packers. They got a lot of speed,
They had a power run game that was working. They
got away from in the second half and I think
that's what cost them. But uh, you know, and then
you had I mean, you got a Michael Parsons.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Of course you got hurt. That's a good football team.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
And the Broncos put a resume win out there.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
I thought they did.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
And for me, this was the first time this season
that I could honestly say that, at hey, they put
a decent game together against a contender, because I look
at the Packers of being one of those teams in NFC.
Whether they come out and represent them in the Championship,
I don't know, but they are a good team, have
a lot of injuries, got beat up against the Denver Broncos.
(10:18):
But yeah, this was a true test for the Denver Broncos,
and for me, I started to look at how the
season is set up thus far. When I look at
the number of quarterbacks that the Broncos had faced that
are mobile quarterbacks. You start with Washington and markis Mariota,
Gino Smith right, then you have Jordan Love. Now this
Sunday you got Trevor Lawrence. So it's almost like the
(10:40):
football God said, Broncos, We're gonna prepare you for quarterbacks
that you're gonna face, these backyard quarterbacks that are.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Able to move.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
We're gonna help prepare you to be able to contend
with them, because those are the quarterbacks you're gonna see
in the playoffs. And the Broncos did a great job
in that second half defensively.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yeah, I mean I thought so.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
There was a tailor two halves though, because the Green
Bay came out with a game plan that featured a
lot of Josh Jacobs and they were doing really well
with it, and then they sort of just got away
with They got away from it and they started playing
right into Denver's hands.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
If you can't run the ball, you'll go to lose.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
The Broncos the off on you.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Well, I don't think they kind of got away from it.
The idea is that they were still getting gaining ground
with Josh Jacobs on the ground, but it was just like, okay,
well they know that they used the run game instead
up the pass. And when you look at Joe and
Love and what he was able to do in the
first half, he was moving an extend in the pocket
and he had all types of kind of side on
(11:35):
throws and he was completing those those passes dealing with
pressure in.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
His face, right. And the thing that changed it, man.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Because let's think about it, the Packers were up twenty
three fourteen they were nine points and they were driving
and they just tipped an exposed to play. If Jordan
Love just leads Christian rosson to the white just the
little he makes that play, they may kick a field
goal or they scored to now. But it was that
play by p S two that changed everything. And PS
(12:04):
two baited him into it.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
I mean he was clearly playing trail technique can try
to bat him into it, and then he just you know,
and then he just turned on the jets and made
the play and yeah, you put the ball and Love
tried to make it an easier catch for watching throwing
and I'm thinking he had him beat.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Yeah he under three under threw right catch right here
rather than that, you know, and.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Try to make it easier and I'm like, man, no,
just make it right. Well, well, you know he has
to allow one catch for the whole game for five
yards is the first playing the game.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
And here's what here's what you do to corners like
PS two. I watched teams try to do that to
Champ with little to limited success. When you're in man
coverage and you know you got a good corner, You're
not going to run that that.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Receiver on a nine route.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
There's no go rods because that guy's gonna be in
phased with him the way that you put him in
the barn is knowing that's outside leverage.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
To run away from him, run to the other side
of the field, yes, you know, and that's flatten it
out and get a chance, you know, let let him
get some multitude on it.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
And that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Make the right throw, the right throw.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
For love was to throw it at you said, on
the other side where he has to get some more
difficult cash, but the right throat.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
But at the same time, there was pressure in his face, right,
And that's the thing that changed from the first half
to the second half.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
The Broncos were getting pressure.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
But it wasn't it wasn't enough to force him to
have airor throws. In the second half, they got after
it right, and it's almost like Vann said, you know what,
enough of.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
This, Yeah, enough of this. We're going We're going.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
After this defensively.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
All of a sudden, the Broncos started get home because
they were they were dropping back more and you got
more opportunity to do it. And then on the other
side of that, you know, Michael Parson's going out there
was a noticeable drop off in the pass rush, and
Bow was absolutely bo was already playing well. He was
carving all you like I'm about to cook now, Yeah,
I'm about to feast.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
And that was the one thing about Michael Parson and
I said that going into the game, the Broncos were
gonna have to do a great job on Michael Parson.
And on that first drive we saw Michael Parson moved
around like he was maybe lined up over the tackle
inside of Mike McGlinchey and he'd be like, bitch, pressed him,
threw him off the tackle, force the famble in all
(14:02):
game long, no matter where they moved Michael Parson a round,
he was given chase to Bow and Bow was never.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Really able to get comfortable.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
But once again, Bou being a mobile quarterback and having
ability to scramble, that's the part that that helped him.
All that stuff at the beginning of the season that
national meter and local people were criticizing him.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
For it all came true in that game. He needs
That's who he is, Yeah, that's who he is. That's
a resume game for the Denver bro because he gets
the Jags coming to town next. Jags are pretty creative offense.
I don't know if you went back and watch the table,
but they got a creative screen game. Uh, it's it's
really fun to watch I and I got a couple
examples that will get to here here in a minute.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Their defense is kind of a little suspect.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
I think there's there's some things they do well, but
I mean, it doesn't feel like it's appreciably where it
needs to be. They need a talent infusion still on
the defensive side of the ball, but on the offense.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Man they got to play, and what they do is
they'll they'll.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Stack two receiver or their stacked receiver right side right,
they'll stack the running behind it their gun the gun
two back, but they got one of the gun backs
goes out and they'll stack a line right right.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Then he comes back in motion across.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
The left side of the to the left side of
the play, to the to the other two receivers. And
as you're watching this, you watch the shift. You know
you're reading this on the defense. So they come down
and run a screenplay to get stuffed out by the aggression. Right,
they come back and run it again because they had
pat Tim Patrick and Bischel too. And the next time
they got you Kobe Myers over there to Tuton comes
back Touton leaks back instead of blocking, leaks back out
right out of there.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
And he's why opened.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Down the field because the over aggression.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Like they do.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
They like to flash their backside.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
They like to the like.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
They like to flash.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
Hey, I played against Peyton Manning and Peyton Manning was
great with his play fate right, because you see some
quarterbacks they never carry out the play fate was great
because Peyton would show you the ball, he would just
run to overextend it and almost.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
It was like, ohh, I'm getting his hand off.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Exaggeration, So like am on to the flame here. You
you're drawn to what's going on. And then Marvin Harrison
and Reggie Wayne run right past you, right and you
go to salidline.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Your coach like, what were you doing at?
Speaker 4 (16:13):
What are you looking at? I thought it was a run.
It was a pass, right that that type of thing.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Atsive line. Yeah, you were staring too long.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
After a certain point when Peyton didn't give it handed off.
By the time he got to the backside of the guard,
it wasn't a handoff because he's got to give it
to him really quickly. And the thing with the Jags
and watching them, they're really creative at the line of scrimmage.
They're really creative with their pre snap motion. Like the
Bronco is probably ranked towards the bottom of the league
(16:48):
using pre snap motion. But the reason pre snap motion
works and so many teams are using it because it
has the ability to displace defenders. You may be focused
on your assignment before the ball is snapped, but once
a guy started moving, your eyes automatically moved to that
guy that.
Speaker 5 (17:07):
You also as a defender. You got to think, oh,
what's the adjustment and once again you've been there just
you even tells the story.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
About how a guy's pointing like he's going to do something,
but you need to say a word yes. So so
those things kind of happen. But yeah, the Jags their defense,
you can run on them on the perimeter and based
on Bo's athleticism, you can make plays. There's plays to
be made outside the pocket. So I'm hoping this week's
(17:37):
game plan allows him to do that.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
And if it doesn't, do what.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
He did in the Packers game organically get out there
on the perimeter. I mean that play he made to
Troy Franklin. To me, he made a similar play to
Javonte Williams. When Javonte was here, or he's scrambling, the
defensive is drawn to him and then now a guy.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Frees up and he just throws it. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
See See that's how we've come to know guys like
Patrick Mahomes making plays like that. But no one's talking
about bow yet in that same type of breath.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
I think part of that is sustained success. You know,
you have one playoff appearance, You've been two seasons now.
Granted bow is he could theoretically have the all time
record for wins throughout your first two seasons as a
quarterback by the end of this year. That is theoretically
possible fire a record that's currently held by Russell Wilson,
by the way.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
But you know, I mean, I think that's it.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
I think if you the longer, as soon as you
sustain success, that's when people want to keep the accolades
on you. They don't just want to see it, they
want to see you repeat it. And that's I think
that's the biggest part of all that. We're often runned
here on Broncos Country Tonight, I got hit a break.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
We'll be back after this.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
This song. I've heard the song before, but I don't
know who it was.
Speaker 6 (18:50):
It is what it is, Well, I got five on it.
Then it's like nineteen ninety five. What is ninety six
ninety five? I'm pretty sure I'm the back a shrug
back to day man. That come on, bro, that's this
is my era. That's a minute ago the Knight.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
If you asked no, like twenty minutes, twenty years longer
than that, thirty years, thirty thirty years, really bro, getting old?
Speaker 4 (19:15):
See see that's how you know music is good because
it holds up, It holds up, it transcends, trends time.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Yeah, no, as might as it comes on you just start.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
It's like Marvin Gaye.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
Yeah, well see, and you know what the reaction is.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
When somebody comes on, Like when Mark Morris Return of the.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Mat, you rolled the window down.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
You're you know you hear uh back up in this
for the night.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
Now you know exactly the women.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Are run on the dance floor when see see Now
we gotta be careful about that because when you drive
around different Colorado, you see people with their windows rolled
up and they may be dancing to a song, but
you don't know exactly when. Like you might catch me
in the car. I saw you the other day listening
to the back boy, and you might do there's one
(19:58):
thing and it's and it's something else.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
There's no there's no damn batter, hand out my fire? Then?
Does that all too well? Doesn't it? Somebody who tracks
he was wanting the boy? Then ye don't try to
put it on. Don't put some boy then?
Speaker 1 (20:19):
And some old those videos are never getting out as
long as I.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Can help it.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Just saying so you know that they exist, though the
mom's got up somewhere.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Hopefully they're gone by now.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
See when you think about the Broncos defense and how
they've been playing thus far, what's been the biggest thing
that's that stood.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Out to you? Oh?
Speaker 5 (20:43):
The big well, the ability to make the big plays
when they have to. That's that's it. They show up.
They show up when they have told.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
You dare call them a guiver? No, I don't know
about all that. Well, what would you call them then? Clutch?
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Okay, okay, I'm just asking you. I mean you said
that with authority, like I challenged you as something no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
The orange rush.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
No no, not the orange rush that.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Rushes me though, say you can't beat the Broncos dropping
back to pass forty times.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
You can't.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
You can't do it, No, you can't. But this is
where teams will start to be creative. And the team
that they're going to play on Sunday, William conn He's
definitely creative because on the game on Sunday, just think
about it, the quarterback led the team in rushing and
the running back led the team and receiving.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
How about that. It's not odd. I mean, talk about
living in the upside down.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
So we saw the Packers attempt to challenge the Broncos
are one of the biggest issues and that was covering
the back out of the backfield. Drake Freemlaw person position,
jew Love. I mean, his ball placement was impeccable. Josh
Jagen makes a hell of the PA.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
That was great play.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
So they give him that ja that they're gonna see
the same thing this week, the same thing this week,
the fastest.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're gonna they're gonna try to run
it past it.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
They're gonna try to do it all with with h
N so so with thinking with the defense for just
a second. With Brandon Jones scheduled to be out for
the remaining of the season, in your mind, I have
my my own thoughts. But how do you think that
changes what the Bronco is gonna do in the secondary?
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Well, I believe p J. Lock would probably be the
guy stepping up. Yes, he'd be the guy. Yeah, yeah,
and PJ. I have confidence with PJ. He's a playmaker.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
I don't I don't know how much they'll adjust the
game plan. I think I think PJ a Lock could
come in and do a good job too, I truly do. Ben,
What are your thoughts on that. Well, we've seen PJ before.
You know he can be a playmaker at times. He
he's had some times where he's been out of position
or some miscommunication. We saw that a little bit last year.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Is part of reason.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
But don't gotten Fung.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
I think Ufung is a little more physical.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
I think Brandon Jones was certainly more physical and more
of a more of a box guy than PJ is.
But he's gonna be the first guy up, He'll be
his backup, and Skin'll be the third in line, and they'll
go try it out and see where they go. I
don't know if we didn't see our performance drop off
in that game, but that's a very limited sample size.
We'll see how teams attack the Broncos that I imagine
they will attack him or lead to see if that's
(23:23):
a new week spot on the defense.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
I'm glad you brought that up, because that was the
first thing they came to my mind. Usually when a
guy comes into a game, the officer coordinator normally attacks
him right away, but sometimes you may not do it.
But with time to prepare and knowing what the secondary
is going to look like, they're going to find ways
to try to attack PJ. Lock if not attack him, specifically,
(23:48):
attack the center of the field.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
Find a way to capture.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
The eyes of Funger because we know he does a
great job around.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
The line of scrimmage.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
But if you can capture his eyes with play and
leave PJ by himself, now, I mean, you you got
two good wide receivers and Brian Thomas and Jakobe Myers
who can tack the middle of the field.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
Yeah, but I mean if you got good run past
keys and you're not biting on the runs.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
But that's hard Steve, hard play action and This is
a team that run play action on first down. The
They don't run a no third down the second down,
they run.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
It on first down.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
They got a lot of play action on early downs,
a lot of motion on early downs too.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Who does that?
Speaker 7 (24:28):
Hey, as long as you're reading your key, you good?
Well you better a Lisia Key the damn thing house
Keys read your keys.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
Lisia Keys never brocknovs kin Yay, snuck at Alicia Keys
reference in there.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
You can welcome for that.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
I will say this.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Our old friend Tim Patrick a part of this Jag
Wars football team. He's second on the team and receiving touchdowns.
They like to go to him in the red zone
and they get down there close. They like to go
to him in the red zone.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
Now here's one thing we know about Timmy Patrick, right,
Timmy Patrick wears his heart onnest the and he stays
with the grudge and the one thing.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
That he can and well, he can block.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
You know, he's gonna want one.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
In this game.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
And and once again with the Jags run game, they're
gonna want to get on the perimeter. And Timmy Patrick
was one of the Broncos, if not the best Broncos
wide receiver, and that's why I was sad to see
him go blocking me on the perimeter, right, I mean,
he knows how to block without holding. He's the guy
that the Broncos are looking for, the Jordan Humphrey to
(25:33):
be right, to be that type of god big body
guy that can matchester and grab guys and drive him
off the ball. So it's gonna be interesting to see
who gets that matchup or who he's matched up on
when he has to block them. So and being able
to fight off that block and get down here and
make tackles is gonna be interesting as well. Being I
heard the running back Towton, who has been like a
(25:57):
complimentary piece for Uh, I think he broke his finger.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Or something like that. Uh first thing.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Viisl Bischel touton Weischel.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
I wonder if he's gonna play. Are they gonna kind
of bandage that hand up and let him play?
Speaker 7 (26:13):
So?
Speaker 2 (26:13):
I don't know what. Come on, man, what do you
think you had a hand injury? Are you playing?
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Well? Be careful about that because justin Herbert with seven
days off the sun quarterback.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Yes, and he's got like mad guys chasing him, right,
I mean he had that knitton on his hand the ball.
What hand is hurt? I'm not, I'm not. I'm not
sure which hand it is. But I understand what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
Being a running back and having to carry to carry
the ball, I have to find out whether the finger injury.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
And he's going to be out this week.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
He's going to be out. He's out. Oh looks like
so I thought, I thought, hey, man, come.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
On, you have Travis Atienda, laquinc Allen too, Alan of course,
a guy out of Syrahcuse who can run and catch
a ball as well. So I don't expect a huge
drop off without. I mean, Tutan was only a three
point four per carry guy. He just catches all the backfield.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Yeah, I mean you may seem like like you underminded that.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
I mean that's been one of the broncos bigger issues
covering right the backfield.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
And this is what Sean was trying to establish with R. J.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
Harvey, right, getting kind of leaning into his skill set,
throwing him the ball on the edge and getting blockers
out in front of him. And what happens if he
can't play the sun is because of those ribs. So
because I know someone would say, hey, put a flat
jacket on and maybe get a numb shot. Well what
happens when that starts to wear down? And would you
(27:36):
want to sacrifice R. J. Harvey right now knowing as
though you're gonna need him because JK. Dobbins is out,
which I mean, would you would you put him in
the play?
Speaker 3 (27:45):
I mean it depends on where he's at. If he's
got crack ribs, there's no way we're playing. And if
he's i mean sore ribs, maybe you know, we'll see.
Have you ever had ribs before?
Speaker 4 (27:53):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (27:53):
I have, And I would not wish that on anybody. Ya,
but you know when you're yeah, I would wish that
on anything. Claimed Cody Schrader, though, I mean they didn't.
They just signed to the practice squad. They cleaned him
off waivers to the active roster. Uh, that's part of
the reason they went.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
Here's the thing, how quickly can they get acclimated to
the office.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
I mean, I'm pretty sure you could pick up, you know,
the plays that you need for one week. There's a
running back you know you're gonna miss some. There's some
pass pro stuff. You're gonna miss some receiving stuff. You're
gonna miss but running the football. Yeah, I mean, you know,
Julia mcgloffin's go ahead, steps the game up.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
Well, I think before Strada comes in, you're gonna go,
uh but Day and McLoughlin before you go.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
I think, I mean, I think Trader's gonna play. I'm
just you, guys, I might be wrong on this, but
I think Trader's playing this weekend. And I'll say this,
I think Trader's playing this weekend. I'm just gonna leap
playing the least. I think Trader's going to run the
football this weekend.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
We'll see if I'm we'll see on that that.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
I I have a feeling and I'm not trying to
tip my hand on anything here, but I'm I'm just
gonna say I think Trader's gonna play a little this weekend.
That'd be your walk up music, I must say, and
knock you up, grab what would your walk up music?
But I'm genuinely curious would you use for walk up music?
He's looking at me, Pink Pony Club, That makes that
(29:06):
makes sense?
Speaker 4 (29:07):
No?
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Actually till I collapse? Okay, all right, you know.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Eminem Dog.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Very similar to Mamaself.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
I'm sure I heard it.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
You've heard it before you hear, Oh, that's all Yeah,
it's eminem.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Yeah, I've heard all. That's a good one. That's that's
that didn't give you that get hyped on. That's a
good one. Okay.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Thig Ferson over here said no not Backstreet Boys, Tatter.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Swift, Sweezy say. I think now, I want to know
what I would listen to? Walk up song?
Speaker 1 (29:47):
That song the piano, piano, piano, where the they sing
it in that Marlon Wayne's movie White Chicks. Oh, Vanessa Carlton,
Vanessa Carlton. That's a song neck.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
No, it's not.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Shut it down.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
It is a song that I've I've listened to that
I do, I do. I'm not gonna front I do.
But if I'm talking about my walk up song, it's Tupac.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
He'll marry.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Okay, all right, come on now, all right, yes, come
with me?
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Hell Mary quick, see what.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
Do we have here? Now?
Speaker 2 (30:24):
Do you want to run?
Speaker 1 (30:28):
All I ever hear? All I ever?
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Think about the Chappelle show skit where he's like he's
pretending that Tupac is still alive and releasing albums.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
And I wrote this and it's happening right now around Yeah,
they're in the club. It's like.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
He is going on every truck is updated. Uh of
to show the trends that's happening right now.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Is he still a lot?
Speaker 1 (30:52):
But then he's like and I wrote this and not
for absolutely ridiculous, get.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
The Jags covering The Jags are actually a.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Tough team this year. I mean the defense, like I said,
it's it's you know, it's a little hit or is.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
But that offense is uh, even with al Travis Hunter,
uh is still pretty potent.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
And man, I hate that he got hurt.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
I was looking forward to seeing him play in person here,
but uh, hey maybe next year.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
They got Brian Thomas back. Of course, they've had a
really good season out of Parker Washington. Uh job, Yeah, Jacoby,
Brent Strange, tryst Edge, Kobe Myers, Domi Brown, Tim Patrick.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
And that's without getting into like the tight ends, you know,
and all that.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
The Hunter longs the Brent Strangers because if they got
they got a rotating They've got a deep offensive roster.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
They have some guys, not enough guys who are household names.
It's just like a bunch of role players who are
great at their jobs. Right, they understand their Roles and
this group of wide receivers remind me of the group
of wide receiver that Josh hallens Allen has in Buffalo.
Right when you when you look at the name, you
(31:58):
look at the ross and the depth chart, guys, you said, well,
reading their names, they sound like parential pro bowls and
some guys that you need to be afraid of.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
But the Jags, guy, they do a great job.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
They run Chris routes and they know how to get
open and when you look at man and zone and
beating man's own coverage, they've done a decent job.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Yeah. I mean the Patriots are kind of like that.
They don't.
Speaker 7 (32:20):
They have a bunch of guys household names and digs
as you know, yeah Hunter Henry.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
At the Henderson I guess you know, I mean if
you there's not but they have a.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Bunch of Yeah, they're not like who they like Cincinnati
r W Do he have a education?
Speaker 1 (32:36):
And Higgins and you know yeah, yes, Steven always goes
too fast man. Uh do we have to talk to
you gain next week?
Speaker 4 (32:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (32:43):
Appreciated man, Go Brocos, Let's go keep me keep this
thing going, baby, Broncos cuts your day back after this
