Com slash podcast. Without further ado, Let's get to the
NFL Week fifteen recap. Kick It Off Fall on Thursday
night is Primetime Kirk Cousins taking on Primetime Baker Mayfield.
(00:32):
Hope you weren't playing against Kyle Pitts in the opening
round of your fantasy playoffs snapto Cousins.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
He fades it to the right side for Pits into
the end zone and he hauls it in two handed
in the front corner of the end zone. It's a
touchdown and Kyle Pitts continues his rampage, this time beating
Build or four in Atlanta.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Lead.
Speaker 5 (00:52):
That call courtesy of Jason Bennetti with Westwood One and
I was playing against Kyle Pitts in my fantasy playoffs,
and I still came out with the.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Dove the win after playing Kyle Pitts, by the way,
had eleven catches for one hundred and sixty six.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yards or three touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Was everyone else with your opponents team legally dead?
Speaker 5 (01:08):
He had a player that got negative points, the only
player in the league to do so this week.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (01:14):
He also had Justin Jefferson and Jalen Waddell, who both
had very poor games.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Man, you start off the Thursday with Kyle Pits in
that statlight.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
To come out with himber one in my league all year,
and I thought, damn, this is this is fantasy football.
It's fine, and so I'm gonna go out in Week
one of the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (01:28):
It makes you wonder where was Kyle Pitts this entire time?
All that took was for the team to be out
of the playoffs and Kirk Cousins to be inserted into
the lineup.
Speaker 7 (01:37):
I still think.
Speaker 6 (01:38):
Kyle Pitts is a good tight end and he would
do some team very well next year.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
I've been wanting him here, like trade for him, do
whatever it takes to get him here. I mean, granted
he only shows up when you play Tampa, but still
it's you know what is Mike Evans by the way
for the Bucks. Six catches, one hundred and thirty two yards.
Good to see him, just good to see good to see.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Him back there.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
The Cleveland Browns so called the Chicago Bears in the cold,
first out, it's out of the twenty two. They call
it snap played pick rolling. He was right, Caleb running
out of time, Gotta gut it into the end zone.
Speaker 7 (02:10):
Back of the end zone?
Speaker 1 (02:11):
What's feat j Moore? Touchdown Bears?
Speaker 5 (02:16):
That call courtesy of Jeff Joniac with WMVP. Looks like
Kayleb Williams had the right wrist band on, yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
As opposed to should do it who apparently got the
wrong wristband handed to him by coaches.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Had to have it replaced later. Not the greatest game
for Schador.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Eighteen to thirty five, one hundred and seventy seven yards,
no touchdowns, three interceptions, five sacks. Bo He did lead
his team in rushing with twenty four yards, which says
something about Quinn Shawn Jenkins, who got twelve carries and
couldn't get to twenty four yards on him Isaiah Bond
had a big play in that one. I think the
most head scratching play to me was a what should
have been a touchdown for Shador Sanders to Jerry Judy
who turned around and basically handed the ball to the
(02:50):
defender instead of securing the catch in the touchdown.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
Yeah, that was a clearly a game of hot potato
that did not go in favor with the Cleveland Browns.
But if this should tell people more about the Chicago
Bears than about the Cleveland Browns, who still don't have
the adequate weapons of protection force doors Sanders. But Ben
Johnson has that Bears team.
Speaker 7 (03:10):
Playing well, he really does.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
And Luther Bird led the team in receiving, might be
out this week. He's he's a bit banged up in
that one as well. The Ravens taking on the Bengals
Lamar and the Shanka.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Twenty nine seconds left in the half. Lamar takes a snap,
fires tap for the end zone. He's got a man.
Speaker 8 (03:27):
There, touchdown, save Floors and the Ravens extend the lead.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
Jerry Sandsky with w BA l on the calling man.
It was all Ravens in this one. If Burrow wasn't
depressed before the game.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
He should be after this, Oh depressing has gonna say
we would play a Bengals highlight, but.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
We don't have anything. The only one we had was
a pick six. Yeah I'm not playing that. Yeah, well, yeah,
that's just gonna say.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
The Lamar Jackson only attend to twelve passes.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
In this game. Derrick Henry eleven carries one hundred yards.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
There just wasn't much statistical production at all, as the
Bengals held the ball but couldn't do anything with.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
It as they kept turning it over.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Burrow no touchdowns, two interceptions, two hundred and twenty five
passing yards.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
It's just you know, in a fumble by pe Rye,
it's just a it was just a day.
Speaker 6 (04:10):
It looks like a team that was so dejected in
which people kind of kind of fell into the comments
of Joe Burrow after the game.
Speaker 7 (04:18):
When he was talking about, you know.
Speaker 6 (04:20):
His fun level for the game, I guess being part
of the Cincinnati Bingos and you can look at it,
how do you want to? And I know he came
back and correct him, saying he was not talking about
the team. But you have to think that a little
of what he's saying he's not having fun. You can't
have fun if you're four and ten and you playing
with the bingers.
Speaker 7 (04:39):
Just can't do it.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
The Arizona Cardinals, well they were in the stadium for
the game against detections.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Through out of the gun naw with whatoy two is right,
here's the snap to c J four man rush.
Speaker 7 (04:50):
He throws over the middle, Fisteko.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Left side, forty bakes, I tackle thirty twenty fifteen, ten
fun rocket roll, touchdown.
Speaker 5 (04:59):
Jost we rock and rolling with Mark vandmir and Kilt.
And that Texans offense looks like it's catching up with
their defense.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
They could be dangerous. Yeah, that it is.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
And I think the big part of that was Jaar Jordan,
the running back. They've had problems running football with Chubb
and Woody Marks. Juar Jordan comes out of nowhere in
this one and manages to to pick up one hundred
yards on the ground on only fifteen carries fifty which
came on one carry Woody Mark seven for thirty. And that's
been a big part of helping for everything else up
(05:29):
for the Houston Texas.
Speaker 6 (05:30):
Yeah, and once again, you look at the Texans defense.
I said it before, they're one of the more lead
defenses in Lea other than the Denver Broncos. And you're right,
Grant C. J. Stroud was an injured for a while
aft that I can cuss him against the Denver Broncos.
But he's coming back and he's been firing just like
you know, cooker with grease as they would call it
(05:51):
down South. And that is a scary team right there, my.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Friend, Glad.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
It is the Arizona Cardinals offense continues to play fairly well.
P two hundred and forty nine yards, three touchdowns, an interception,
Trey McBride on a tear twelve catches, one hundred and
thirty four yards, two touchdowns for him in that one,
but ultimately the defense has had the bottom fall out
of it over the last couple of weeks there in
in Arizona. The Jets at the Jaguars and the Broncos
(06:19):
is gonna have a hands full with the Jags offense.
Speaker 8 (06:21):
Shotgun for Mason Bunch right dropping this Trevor they swinging
out of the backfield.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
This is Travis etn With running with forty thirty five
yard line inside. If I say he's going to say.
Speaker 7 (06:30):
Thirty yard line.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Twenty top hold on in here five out of ten
five touchdown Privacy Dana.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
Scored again bring FINGI with w j XL on the call.
Three receiving touchdowns for ETN, six total touchdowns for Trevor
Lawrence and this blowout win, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
That's it was a depressive stat line. And the Jags,
I mean just beating up on the Jets. It got
Steve Wilkes fired. Steve Wilkes won and done in his
last five stops in the NFL.
Speaker 7 (06:57):
And that's not even cool, man.
Speaker 6 (06:59):
And first of all, you Trey Quinnon Williams, the Trey
Sauce Gardner. Your defense wasn't good with those two guys,
even worse after those two guys. And it's very difficult.
You have no justin fields like no ty Rod Taylor,
and you're playing with Cooks, who's a backup quarterback at best,
and you're hoping to go on the road and beat
Jacksonville at home. Good freaking up man. Tough role for
(07:22):
Steve Wilks. But those Jags, man, they look like they're
for real.
Speaker 7 (07:26):
That they do.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
And of course we'll see them here this weekend.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
The Chargers at the chiefs.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Heiman even left the Probert trips left on the outside
of the numbers.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
It's DeAndre Lambert Smith, keenan in the middle pad on
the slot.
Speaker 8 (07:39):
Herbert play action, gotta get rid of it, throws.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
To the ends. Okay, touched up DeAndre Lambert Smith.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
My goodness, Matt Murney Smith with KFI on the call
and the Chargers putting the nail in the coffin of
the chief.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Season that they did a Marion Hampton fifteen carries sixty
one yards in that one, comanding the Dalla twelve carries
thirty three Herbert nineteen Pasike attempts two hundred ten yards touchdown.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
And a pick.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Gadsden led be the Chargers and receiving the Chiefs for
their part. Mahomes out for the year and gonna miss
part of next season. LCL and ACL and he had
to have surgery on that yesterday. Gardner Minshew came on
in relief and through an interception.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
Well, I am still surprised at Justin Herbert and how
he's playing with that, you know, injury, coming off of surgery,
with that Hamburger help her hand. But this just goes
to show man that this kid is tough. He's gonna
be tough for a team to deal with in the playoffs.
But sad injury for Patrick Mahomes. I know we lif
here in Broncos country, but I hate to see if
(08:38):
good players get injured.
Speaker 8 (08:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Same, Here be the Bills taking all the New England Patriots.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
And I you know, at half time, I was sitting
up there with Rick Lewis and Dave Logan and I
was like, well, I was on the wrong side of
this one.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
David was like, yeah, need too. But the Bills are
gonna come back in with it, and they did.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
They just let James tap and off the Cook lowers
the shoulder looking for the end zone and he's in.
James Cook, with a dry facta of touchdowns, punches it
in on an eleven yard touchdown run and the Bills are.
Speaker 8 (09:08):
Back in front.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Chris Brown with wgr on the call.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
They let James Cook and man, are the Bills gonna
win the AFC East looks.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Like they're certainly trying to put it together here, Lake
and hot at the right time. Cook, of course, hundred
eleven totally ourds three touchdowns. Josh Allen had threty touchdowns
one hundred and ninety three through the air and forty
eight on the ground.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Bills heating up at the right time.
Speaker 6 (09:27):
Yeah, they are man, And I was so impressed with
how the Bills actually fought back, and you would think
that they kind of like lost all the juice the
week before in that home fight against Cincinnati.
Speaker 7 (09:40):
But that tells you, you know.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
And someone was telling me that when you look at
Josh Allen, you never wanted to put him behind the gun,
because when you put him in a situation when he's
got a call back, he's gonna give you everything that
he has.
Speaker 7 (09:53):
And he did that very thing on Sunday that he.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Did Washington Commanders, No Jaden Daniels, no Chris Rodriguez, no problem,
it's Marcus Mariotah.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Just carry Terry there.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Go rpoy He's got time, pathway, got.
Speaker 7 (10:05):
The little field.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Why up and Terry mcloorn at the twenty tries to
get protect he does speak back, tuck down, tuckdown, Washington
a fifty one yard.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
Strike to Terry Bran Weinstein with w B I G
with the call and glad you put the emphasis on
the tee in Mariota.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Apparently that's the thing that people do New York Giants.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Jackson Dart evaluated for another concussion, is fifth concussion evaluation
in ten games with the New York Giants. Faced with
two forty six, two touchdowns and a pick. Yeah, A
Dart used to, I mean, you can't get checked for concussion.
That they've got to fix something there.
Speaker 7 (10:41):
But what are you gonna fix?
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Gotta bull bully at this part full of for how long?
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Listen?
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (10:48):
The kid is a warrior, He's a competitor. He wants
to be out there on the field like any of
US players. Yes, do they have to protect them. For himself, absolutely,
but this is part of who he is. This is
the part they got him drafted. But at the same time,
you look at the Commanders, No Jane Dames, Marcus Mariotah.
Speaker 7 (11:03):
He got it done and they got it done for
the Commanders that they are.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
The Las Vegas Raiders are theoretically a football team that
also played against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Got third and five hurts calling for the football. He's
back again, he looks.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
He fires and it is complete. Tucks down Hey Jay
Brown twenty seven yards.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
Merril reees with wip on the car and I mean,
what do you say about this one thirty one nothing
when yeah, Katy Picking only had sixty four yards passing,
They couldn't get anything gone on the ground.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
The Raiders are just terrible across the board. And I'm
told that they are working on trying to get a
buy out for Pete Carroll.
Speaker 7 (11:43):
Wow, how about that?
Speaker 6 (11:46):
He came in, we set out seventy some years old,
and now they're looking to push you out.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
I thought they said there was no discrimination for agism,
but I get the discrimination for louth.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
I was just saying, I think there's a discrimination for sucking,
and I think that's really what's going on here.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
I really thought that Pete Carroll thing was going to
go better for the Raiders. Patris points Lions taking on
the Rams. All is down on the four yard line.
Speaker 8 (12:09):
Ucas aligned in the backfield in front of kyn Williams,
who takes the handoff leaves for the middle goes in
untouched Tyner.
Speaker 5 (12:16):
A touchdown JB Long with KSPN on the call. I
saw a couple of power rankings earlier today that had
the Broncos at number one, But I think I still have.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
The Rams as the best team in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Right now, yeah, I think the Rams have got to
be in that conversation and this complete domination you know
by them, I just I mean, I guess the good
football team here too, Detroit, lots of points scored, but
the end, I mean the Rams, You're just dominating everybody
at this point.
Speaker 6 (12:42):
Yeah, the Rams, once again, they have that ability to
put up points and it doesn't make a difference what happens.
Speaker 7 (12:50):
And you know, you have Poking the Corps who had
a little injury there, and.
Speaker 6 (12:54):
Then also you had DeVante Adams who had a hamstring injury,
but that just slowed them down.
Speaker 7 (12:59):
This is a great that can put up points and
they know who they are.
Speaker 6 (13:02):
So it's gonna come down to the Rams the Seahawks
and see who's going to pull out that NFC.
Speaker 7 (13:08):
But I still favor the Rams of that one.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yeah, it's h at the end of the day, that's
gonna be the interest to our Panthers at the Saints.
Speaker 7 (13:16):
And man, our old guy Veley is bald.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
But Olave got the touchdown.
Speaker 8 (13:20):
From the twelve three receivers to Sucks.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Ryder comes pressure, throws it towards the inside.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Chris oh Lovey touch.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
Down, New Orleans, Oh my god, the WWL on the call,
and I think they may have found their quarterback down
there in New Orleans.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Yeah, Tyler Shuck looks like he might have a little
something to them, and it looks like what happens. He
let the von Vele play and all of a sudden,
look he starts getting catches in yards. Led the team
most of the game at in a finished with five
catches for sixty nine yards on six targets. Nice, you know, yeah, Meyle.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Just continues to me.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
By the way, Audrick Estimate got into that game, he
had three catches for thirty nine yards, three carries for eleven.
Speaker 6 (14:00):
Yeah, I'm happy to about to see those other guys
kind of former Broncos get played with. Tylas Shuck. Yeah,
he's turning into all shucks for the Saints.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
That he is, and the Panthers continue to be frauds.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Titan's at the forty nine ers, Niners, wait this one
out of the shotgun. Here's Perdy takes the snap flushed
out right.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Brough jen Eggs put the end zone touchdown, touchdown.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Forty nine Ers.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Jennigs broke across a big Spikeers second of the game.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
Guy Haberman with kmbr on the call, Who needs Brandon
and I youk in San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Yeah, I just say this game, Jenning's only caught three balls.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Two up ended up being touchdowns as they focused on
getting Ricky Piersoll the ball.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Six catches for ninety six yards.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
Some of the people were talking about swapping mag Zones
for Brock Purdy.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Not so fast, yeah, mag Zones colts at the Seahawks
Old Man Rivers almost got it done, all full fash Mar,
here's the spot.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
Kick us away the fans. Jeff calls you.
Speaker 6 (15:05):
Jason Myers with his six the field all of the day,
that's set a new.
Speaker 7 (15:11):
Sea OFWK franchise record.
Speaker 5 (15:14):
He picked three pointers Steve Rabel with Kiro on the call,
and they needed all six of those coming down to the.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Wire against Old Man Ricky. Yeah, they had the game.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Winning drive with forty something seconds left, but Darnold was like,
not so fast, my friend. The Vikings eliminating the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
McCarthy takes the step. He'll keep it running around the upside.
He'll stroll into the endside. Tuchsdown Minnesota. Everybody collapsed off
the middle and McCarthy came out the backside nobody hold.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
Ryan Rakey with Westwood one and McCarthy joined the forbidden gritty.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah, and looks like he started to figure it out
a little bit.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Man. It was, you know, he said, started to come
together form a little bit.
Speaker 6 (15:53):
I like his whole idea of rage against the establishment
and decided to do it to gritty even though his
Coachton wanted.
Speaker 7 (15:58):
To do it at all.
Speaker 8 (15:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Uh, Steelers Miami Dolphins on Monday Night football, and you know,
Mike McDaniel streak finally comes to an end.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Rogers maybe seeing a blitz here they come, They rush five.
Speaker 8 (16:10):
There's the snap, Wine drives down a little back paling
TETs made at the fifteen.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
That Pep lacks a tech off of ten, the five touchdown,
the turgid t frowing buddies aside.
Speaker 7 (16:23):
Like the red dose.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
Kevin Harlan with Westwood one on the call, Steelers staying
on top of the f C North.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Yeah they do in Miami. You know, it's just the
ha it had. The bubble had a popping sometime to
a look terrible cold weather game. Steelers get the double.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
I'm heading for Aaron Rodgers, a guy who's over forty
steel getting it done.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Matt he Is, Parker Gabriel when we come back Brocos
Country tonight, Well you and c Bears giving Texas Tech
number nineteen, Texas Tech everything they can handle down four
right now, But it was a tie ball game. Just
a minute go, ten fifty one left in the second
half of that one. Is the big sky U n
C Bears hanging tough with the top T one basketball team.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
We'll keep you updated on that. The Bears are nine
to one this season.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
By the way, you overrun on that game is like
two hundred for a college basketball game.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
That's like it might get the over, it might get
the over on this one. We'll end up seeing how
it goes.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Let's go out to the Kaway Cosperil hotline and bring
on our guy, Parker Gabriel, Parker, how's it going.
Speaker 8 (17:24):
I'm doing great. I guess it's just a good year
for Bears overall.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Well, yeah, that in Colorado sports teams apparently.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
As we as we look at this thing, Broncos, uh,
you reel off another one. I guess a pretty good
team here in the in the Green Bay Packers kind
of resume win. It feels like the national narrative has
finally settled around. This is actually a good football team.
Speaker 7 (17:45):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
You got Jacksonville coming to town, a good offense and
middling defense. It's gonna be an interesting matchup. There are
the Broncos gonna be I don't want to say it
full strength, but healthy enough here to be able to
pull this thing off. Ar J Harvey's got the We
know Brandon Jones is out now as we look at
this thing.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Where where are we? Where are we at?
Speaker 7 (18:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (18:06):
Justin Sternad dealing with the ankle too, uh, after getting
kind of, you know, leg whipped covering a punt. So
you know they're they're definitely not at full strength. And
you know, it's it's interesting because obviously Brandon Jones big loss.
R J. Harvey would be if he can't go with
the ribs injury. And then you also look at it,
it's like, you know, the Packers lost Michael Parsons, uh,
(18:28):
and everybody at this point has somebody that they're missing.
It's just that time of year. So will they be
at full strength?
Speaker 1 (18:36):
No?
Speaker 8 (18:36):
Is it enough to you know, carry on and still
beat Jacksonville and and and mount run here. That's that's
certainly what Sean Payton's gonna say he's not gonna use
injuries as an excuse, whether it's to you know, down
one starter, down to down a key special teams guy,
or whatever it's.
Speaker 7 (18:56):
Going to be.
Speaker 8 (18:57):
Hey, listen, we've got we've got what we indeed, And
you know, you don't win eleven games in a row
by accident.
Speaker 6 (19:04):
No, you don't win eleven games in a row by accident, Parker,
but you do win it by being healthy. And the
Broncos are now starting to kind of venture over into well,
they have multiple injuries and I know the biggest question
all season long, well was this team actually living up
to what their record says that they are. I mean,
(19:25):
for the Broncos to overcome some of these injuries that
they're sustaining now, I guess a good Jacksonville team, I mean,
what do you think they will need to do.
Speaker 8 (19:34):
Well? I think they got to just continue to play
with the same startup efficiency offensively as they've played with
the last few weeks. And obviously, if you're playing without
Archie Harvey, if that's how it ends up going, that
becomes somewhat more difficult. But the offensive line has played well.
You're talking about a step down obviously, to Julil McLoughlin
being the number one guy, but they've been dealing it
(19:57):
less than full strength there anyways, without JK. Dobbs, and
so I don't think that's I don't think that's completely
insurmountable to be good enough running the ball. That's a
little bit where they're at anyways. And you know, bot
Nicks doesn't need to play necessarily exactly the way he
played against Green Bay, but he's found ways to play
effishing football in different varieties over the last four weeks.
(20:21):
And frankly like, if they keep getting that from him
and from the offense in general, they're they're gonna have
a chance. Obviously, the defense hasn't been quite as dominant
the last couple of weeks or a few weeks as
they were early in the season, but overall they're still
doing enough to find ways to win games. So even
though the personnel you know, might be dinged a little bit,
(20:43):
I don't think you're talking about like a completely different
recipe toward, you know, trying to find find a win.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
On Sunday, Broncos go at ned Cody Schroder off of
Waivers is not a practice squad.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
Ad A is a fifty three because it's off waivers.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
You know, as we look at this thing, is this
an indicator on r J.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Harvey.
Speaker 8 (21:01):
It may It may also be an indicator just on
sort of their running back mix in general. Like the
reason why Tyler Badet has been on the roster obviously
is because of the past protecting and the third downability.
I think RJ. Harvey quietly has improved in that department
quite a bit over the course of the season. Obviously,
we'll see if you can play, but in general, I
(21:23):
almost think about it more, as you know, the timing
might make it look like RJ. Harvey related, but I
almost wonder if it's more about what they've gotten behind
r J. Harvey rather than what you're gonna get this week.
I mean, Harvey, like you know, Cody Trader is not
going to get all the way up to speed to
where it's like twelve fourteen carries or whatever knows enough
(21:44):
offense to have that kind of workload in one week.
So I sort of wonder if it's more about how
they view the depth of their running back mix rather
than Harvey's status. Specifically for this game.
Speaker 7 (21:57):
Jill Parker, we've seen a lot of criticism.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
I'm a bow over the season as this team has
been evaluated, What have you seen in the past couple
of weeks that may have changed your mind as far
as what you thought about both Nicks are better yet
may have made you think that, Okay, well this is
the guy that can leave the Broncos to a championship
in this season.
Speaker 8 (22:20):
Well, I mean, what's changed the narrative sort of nationally
is just thrown four touchdowns against the Packers. I mean
that it's sort of in some ways, it's that simple,
and it's it's just it gets a little bit more difficult,
obviously to nitpick every week that the winning streak goes on.
Like it's one thing to say, oh, the Broncos have
won six in a row, but bo Nix isn't playing
that efficient? Like another thing. When you're twelve and two,
(22:43):
you've won eleven in a row, you're you're the only
two lost team in football, you have the best record
in football, you have pole position for the one seed,
and oh, by the way, your quarterbacks are shredded the Packers,
who have a pretty good defense. Like it's just at
some point it's like, all right, you know, yeah, we're
gonna put that one away for a while. It doesn't
mean it won't crop back up if the level of
(23:04):
play drops for a couple of weeks or whatever. He's
just always sort of drawn that. He's always been a
little bit not lightning Rod necessarily, but he always just
he's always driven that difference of opinions. And we have
such a hard time talking about what is you know, subjectively,
is it good? Is it great? Is it elite? Is
(23:25):
it you know, is it top twelve in the NFL?
Or is it top fifteen or is it top eight?
Like I mean, at some level, who cares? Right like
for right now, for right now, the twenty twenty five Broncos,
he's doing everything he needs to do. They're winning games.
That doesn't mean that he's you know, Joe Burrow or whatever,
but like he doesn't have to be right now. They're
really good around him, So you know, he's just he's
(23:47):
doing what he needs to do. And and the it's
like anything in sports, the best way to get people
who are being critical to be quiet instead.
Speaker 7 (23:57):
Is to just win.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Yeah, it changes all manner of conversations when you just
keep winning. We look at this thing and it just
feels it feels different this year. It feels like it's
just opening up for the Denver Broncos. You look at
and we don't ever wish injury on anybody, but you
look at the injury to Pat Mahomes. Now all of
a sudden, that Thursday night game looks like it's probably
even more in play. You beat the Packers, the Jags
(24:19):
are coming in without touting. You got a Chargers team
that's limping in on the back end. This thing looks
like it's opening up for Denver in ways that almost
seemed explicable to me.
Speaker 8 (24:28):
Yeah, one hundred percent. I mean, I've said it a
few times in the last few weeks, like everything's coming
up Sean. You know, that's just that's just the way
it's been so far this year, And like, I guess
that's that's sort of what I mean when you're talking
about Brandon Jones. You know that the Jags Loes the
guy to the Chargers have been playing without Rashaun Slater
the entire year, without both their tackles for most of
the season. Obviously, you know there won't be two injuries
(24:50):
in the NFL more impactful than Parsons and and Mahomes.
Although you know, the Mahome's injury absolutely happened when the
Chiefs were almost out of it anyways, So like everybody's
in that boat. And and like you said, then, I mean,
the road just kind of keeps clearing for the Broncos.
And to their credit, you can say that all day,
(25:12):
but like I think the Denver's credit, they have put
themselves in position to take advantage of those things. They're
they're not like oh man, if only like No, They've
taken care of business literally every week for the last
three months, to put themselves in position to take advantage
of the way that the path has cleared for them.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Tom with Parker Gabriel at Parker J. Gabriel on Twitter
from the Denver Post. Last one from me here as
we as we sit here and look at this thing now,
I mean, if you'd said at the beginning of the
year that the Broncos would be in this position now
that you'd be at twelve and two and the driver's
see for that, I think everybody would have laughed at you.
But b said, yes, that is absolutely a successful season.
But I think you get to this point and now
(25:52):
all of a sudden, I think that that by virtue
of having success.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
The bar has changed.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Can this team go one and done in the playoffs
and will the season still be considered successful?
Speaker 8 (26:05):
No, no, not at this point, I mean, and certainly,
like in the building, they wouldn't call it successful. But no,
I mean if you look at it from the outside,
like you know, if you get the one seed, which
they should get at this point, it's not a guarantee.
And frankly, like you know, if they lose against the
Jags and the Chargers beat Dallas, that obviously gets it
gets close really fast, and you could end up playing
(26:25):
a division championship game in week eighteen. But if they
take care of business and they're the one seed, like
you're talking about a home game against the lowest remaining
seed to content tickets to the AFC Championship game like
that sort of the minimum, I would have a hard time,
I think, regardless of what happens over the next like
(26:46):
you know, two or four weeks, I think i'd have
a hard time calling an AFC title game loss like
a failure of a season. But if you're the one
seed and you go out in the division rounds, like
nobody you can look at progress and all of that
and take a level of a view of that in retrospect.
But like in that scenario, like nobody's happy with a
divisional appearance, that that's your first playoff game and you
(27:06):
lose that one.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Yeah, it's I mean, and that's one of those things.
I think it's success begets the expectation of success. And
it's interesting how how that stuff goes. Parker.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
We appreciate it as always.
Speaker 8 (27:16):
Yep, you bet have a guess, all right, Parker J.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Gabriel from the Never Post fight them on Twitter at
Parker J. Gabriel. I think that there is something to
that though.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
I think when you get that taste of success, it
sort of begets the expectation of more success and the
status quo is no longer good enough. If you talk
to the beginning of the year, and and I did,
and we had that on the text line and the
callers and they were saying, well, a playoff appearance, a
single playoff win, that's a successful season. You're the driver's
seat for the number one, you're the driver's seat for
(27:44):
the AFC West. You're well ahead of what the expectation
was relative to the fan expectation. And I don't think
just getting a single win or having a single playoff
appearance is enough for these fans with what they've done
this year.
Speaker 6 (27:55):
I totally understand that. But think about it this way, guys.
Have you guys had rum and new before. I have
lived exclusively from Lom and Noodles to flat me on,
which is where the Broncos are. After missing the playoffs
for as many years as they have.
Speaker 7 (28:12):
You can't go back right. You can't look.
Speaker 6 (28:15):
At a situation and say, well, we put in all
this work, We made all these this sacrifice and gave
us so many man hours away from our family to
just settle for just being the number one seed or
taking an early exit. To me, all of this has
to be for a reason, and the reason is getting
to Levi Stadium. I know no one over at the
(28:39):
Broncos facility want to talk about it. They don't want
players to talk about it, they don't want us to
talk about it.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
But this is what we do. This is where the
team is.
Speaker 6 (28:47):
They're on the precipice of dare I say, making own
history for themselves and getting themselves back into the conversation
and doing want exactly what coach Payton said when he
first arrived here. Two doing exactly what the pinner said
they wanted to do when they took over ownership of
the team. And three do what George Payin has been
trying to do since he's been the damn GM of
(29:08):
the team, and that is to get to this point
where we're having this conversation where everyone level of expectation
goes up.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Yeah, and the standard gets set higher.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Yes, uh, there's and there's there's positives to that too,
because you know, once you get to that that championship mentality,
you've built the culture up, you've seen the wins, you
sort of get to that championship level work ethic. It's
maintaining it that can be so difficult. We've seen some
teams that have been able to do it. Bill Belichick
and the Tom Brady and the you know, the Patriots,
they kept that dynasty live for a while. We did,
(29:39):
of course, everybody knows Kansasity Chiefs kept that going for
a little while.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
But maintaining that, maintaining.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
That level of play, that level quality that it's so
it's such a razor's edge to do. You've got to
be a great coach and have great guys in that
locker room to be able to do it.
Speaker 7 (29:53):
But but isn't that what.
Speaker 6 (29:56):
I just explained that they were trying to do, and
they said they were going to do it. And we
know talking street, we know what walks the marathon, and
right now they are sprinting because what happened last year.
The Broncos were not supposed to make the playoffs last year,
but they did, and then they ran into Goliath and
Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills that left that taste
(30:19):
in their mouth, that raw and noodle taste in their mouth.
Now they're like, no, no, no, no, no, no good,
excuse me, sir. I wanted the stuff on the on
top shelf. I want the top she stuff. I want
this noodle's company through college. Yes, well I don't know
about that. No no, no, no, that's not what I like, Brandon.
(30:40):
No no, no, no, no, no no no no, I
want medium. Well, so we're talking about that, we're talking.
I never said anything about it, any damn catchestrick mahomes. Yes,
just put it on the plate right and give me
a fork in the knife. But this is where the
Broncos have to look at where they are. Right now,
(31:01):
you have set the bar higher than anyone anticipated. That's
why we hear and we see so many things about
the Broncos negatively. You have an opportunity to silace all
the critics. All you have to do is go out
there and win every single game. And a cliche saying,
turn it its week by week.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
That's the thing.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
You don't have to go out and be the best
team in the NFL. Go out be the best team
in the stadium you're playing in that day. You do
that at all, you're gonna wake up and be the
best team in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
That's That's like searching for the perfect mate. There's no
such thing as a perfect mate. You find the best.
Speaker 7 (31:35):
Person for you. That's what you have to do. And
that's where the brand does.
Speaker 8 (31:41):
We all know.
Speaker 7 (31:43):
You're philosophy love the one you with.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Like, yes, you don't have to be the greatest love
of the world, just the greatest love that night.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Got to walk in the morning, turn it back around
on it. I should have walked right into that one.
Oh my goodness, we got some some funn stuff I
want to get to here. Uh, we come back to
toll on the Green Bay Packers on this game playing the.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Denver Broncos and uh maybe maybe maybe sneak.
Speaker 1 (32:11):
A little preview of what's what's coming up against the
Jacksonvie Jackwuess.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Guys, listen the Broncos Country to Night here.
Speaker 7 (32:15):
Okay,
