Originally from Rock Hill, SC, Alyson Johnson is the Campaign Development Director for the St. Louis Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). A graduate of Clemson University, she has been with LLS for 8 years and recently relocated to the Fort Leonard Wood area from Charlotte, NC. During her tenure with LLS, Alyson has brought on national partnerships for the organization and has overseen signature campaigns including Light The Night, Students of the Year and Man & Woman of the Year- growing them all to be $1mm+ events in the market.

Alyson is passionate about the work of LLS, because in 2010, she herself was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, but her heart for philanthropy does not stop there. Alyson has served as a community liaison for The Ronald McDonald House, JDRF and Elevation Church Outreach and has helped start up and run a non-profit organization for orphaned children in Mityana, Uganda.

Outside of work, Alyson enjoys kayaking, photography and traveling with her husband Ryan. She loves a good pun, a strong cup of coffee (or bourbon) and her two goldendoodles, Sammy and Sophie.

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
