Matt Tallent is a founding partner and the President of TEC Solutions. Matt graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in 1999 and immediately started working as a SETA contractor supporting the DoD’s high-risk / high-payoff research and development agency, DARPA, which he still supports today. During his 24 years at DARPA Matt has had the opportunity to provide engineering and program management expertise on many different programs with multiple successful transitions to the military community. In 2004 Matt was awarded the Young Engineer/Scientist of the year award from the American Institute of Aerodynamics and Astronautics for his role in DARPA’s groundbreaking Micro Adaptive Flow Control program. In 2007 Matt completed his Masters Degree in Engineering Administration, also at Virginia Tech. In 2013 Matt and his 2 partners started TEC Solutions. The goal of TEC Solutions was to create a SETA company focused solely on the unique missions of the DoD and Intelligence Communities with an emphasis on providing only the best people in the areas where they could have the most impact. With these founding principles in mind, TEC Solutions started operations in early 2014 with 4 engineers supporting DARPA. From that point, it has grown to the current state of over 65 employees working directly for 7 different DoD and IC agencies. Matt and his wife Cristina met at VT in 1995 and were married in 2002. They have 3 boys, aged 17, 15, and 12. An avid sporting family, Matt coaches his boys in baseball and basketball. When not working or coaching Matt enjoys playing golf with his family and friends.

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
